Ahhh! Tysm!!!! To answer the question, YES, sunflower is intended to be canon within this au, much of the writing I do assumes that Basil has some extra-friendship feelings about Sunny, in at least two of marzenies endings they end up together

Additionally I even have a little ship name for Marze and Sol specificity, I call em dollbranches <3 (doll for soul, dead branches for Marze) I have no reason to have done this I just thought it was neat

The other two definitively canon ships are heromari and Kimbrey because I just think of those as canon normally and there’s no reason they shouldn’t be in Marzenie too right? (I actually once drew Marzenie’s heromari, ShatterSwarm, and while it isn’t in the master post it is fairly recent in the tag so it shouldn’t be hard to find)

Other than that there’s only one more ship I’ve considered for Marzenie and it’s a weird one. I’ve thought a lot about the different endings Marzenie could have and I’ve considered that in one where Sunny dies but Basil doesn’t, Basil might end up with Mikhael (seems random but I promise melonbread is a real ship, just a very very obscure ship. It has merits I SWEAR)

Marze, a name he went by, was walking as he normally does in the cold forest.

(in between where the shadow meets the light) The feeling of being stared at. Normal, everything about this experience is normal; but it.....

Ah? Oh. An Edelweiss,

... Quietly blooming, I watch lest it disappears. They always bloom on these parts of the forest (maybe it's more of a mountain, now? It seems that he's getting closer to a mountain moreso). They look.. pretty. They feel.. comforting. They look like stars!

Hear the magic, old as time, whisper in my ear: ... It doesn't really take him long, he's known this place for a while (maybe since he was 5? 7 moreso), so he knows his ways around the forest and mountain paths— well, not really. The mountain.. is.... Somewhat new. The Edelweiss flowers too. Those are new. But- they feel, again, comforting. Like it was meant to be?

Singing? Humming. It's humming.

Who's humming?

“you've the power in your hands to change the world” — The ...

The same paintings, the same stained glasses, the same paragraphs detailing the appearance of such a God.

The books, the altars, the notes, the paragraphs- the worshippers words and everything...

I should've known he would've sounded like a beautiful violin. A harp even! And not return. I look down, to my hands— I sometimes pick up flowers; the Edelweisses grow back. I know so, they always grow back so fast in these parts; I hope that they continue to grow just like that.

In the time that I have left, Shit.

Did he notice me? .. he looks like.. is he just waking up? His eyes have that look to it. But he doesn't open them— “If he ever opens his eyes, a fire happens. We already saw it happen. We don't want it again.”; is what I remember now.

what can I do? He looks at me, it feels lighter? Better... Is he asking a question? He doesn't seem to be speaking to me. Maybe he isn't asking me a question? But.. he earns, no- he deserves an answer. I should give him an answer;

All I want is to forget, and be with you. Is what is written on the petal I had ripped of the Eldiweiss I had in my hand. That's what he wants, right? It's answer. I gave him an answer. I hope.. he's happy with it.

Live for all that is real, everything that I feel— he gives it back to me, replacing the 'I' as 'you'— me?. With a smile (enough to burn my fears away, the bugs and eggs away for getting too deep and too much).

He reaches out to hold.. my hand?

This wish of mine, one day will shine and : conjure life.

I let him. Of course I would.

[cough cough … so in case this is your first time seeing me posting about Marzenie, the general idea is that it’s an omori au that shows things from Basil’s perspective- giving him his own inner world and a deeper look into what he’s actually going through, given omori is from Sunny’s perspective we don’t really get the most in depth idea of how things are in Basils own mind other then the vague idea that it’s really bad— Marzenie is an AU that hopes to elaborate on Basils character and inner struggle in ways that Omori does not. And yes that means sending him on a fantasy adventure in his own mind but like- when I say fantasy I mean In the same way as a game like Fear and Hunger is “fantasy”]

i had lots of fun drawing him, i tried to make his as pretty and perfect as possible efowouefwiefjw - i might've gotten some of the clothing details a little mixed up since i could only zoom in so much but i did indeed try my best!!!

also i think the wood grain on his face was such a cook detail, but i thoguht it might look a little strange in my style so i just kinda did more swirly blush as an alternativeee

Oh hey I completely forgot to post this, map update

Only the cave but is different, I think it looks alright but u hate to see the caverns go… oh well!! Now there’s room for a circus in there!!

Gah this map has like NO scale. But idk it’s alright… it’s stylized, and it’s not as though the headspace map is perfectly accurate and proportional either right? It’s all just representative, okay that’s all!!

(Aubrey’s Marzenie Desgin)

The beetle is dead long live the Horned Album!! Which is what this thing is called by the way, I feel bad for scrapping the beetle thing but while I was doing this my friend (thank you Jamie) suggested that maybe the horned album has a pet beetle and I said YES rabbit sized beetle with a dumb little jester hat.

Now due to. Uh. Well several things, this change in design means I’ll be altering the map and Kim’s design to see fit since both were originally connected to the beetle idea, and while I hate to see that lizard thing go she wasn’t remotely my favorite design so I can live with replacing her

So what’s going on with The Horned Album? Well the main theme I was going for is the ruining or tainting of something good, for Basil that’s mainly memories, Sunny, Mari and Hero can all be ignored easily since they don’t have a presence in Basil’s life anymore, Kel is more difficult to ignore but his current self is continuous with his young self, the person Kel is now has little effect on who he was in the last and Basil’s memories of him

But Aubrey? Her current presence in Basil’s life can neither be ignored and doesn’t connect well with his memories of her, the attitude she has toward him ranges from dismissive to rude to downright violent, sure Aubrey’s treatment isn’t remotely the worst Basil has experienced but her change of identity has put a stain on Basil’s memories of her… which namely, many are separate old ones he has of Mari which were also ruined by her death… the reason this is different is because Aubrey was Basil’s first true friend, Sure he later became closer with Sunny but Aubrey was first, and there’s many memories of her that are entirely separate from ones of the rest of the group or of Sunny

The day Aubrey began to hate Basil was also the day Basil lost the first person who truly accepted him outside his family… Aubrey was a milestone, Being friends with Aubrey was the only reason he even MET Sunny and the rest of the group, it’s that which has become tainted now

Furthermore, the other choices of goat-features and a clown outfit are sort of their own spin of the idea, the goat’s most popular symbolic use is as the perversion of the lamb (the lamb being a symbol for Jesus Christ, this is why goats are accociated with Satan, they can be mistaken for each other at a glance but upon closer inspection a goat and a sheep are very different)

The clown thing is kind of just a thing about “ruined joy”, clowns are meant to be entertainers and bringers of happiness to the masses, for one to become twisted and dangerous… ahh well this is not a new idea, using clowns in this way is very popular but as someone who likes clowns it was inevitable I’d have one in Marzenie although Aubrey wasn’t going to be the first choice, there were two other characters I’d intended to make clowns … the fact that I’m changing the cave to a circus makes them fit much better actually…hmm

It’s also worth noting that I wanted this character to be very… violent looking, anyhow, will be adding her to the master post plus an updated height chart tomorrow! I guarantee y’all she is. Uh. Big

Alright that’s all for now! Couldnt find anywhere to shove a gladiolus but I figure that’s fine, reflection doesn’t have any roses and Ziemia no lily or the valley, not all Marzenie characters are gonna have flowers in their design’s in fact most won’t… and yes I did phone in the coloring here, It’s 11:44 pm as I’m writing this and I’ve been working on it for two hours now so… yeah okay bye! Scheduling this to post in the morning now

HOLY SHIT THIS IS MY FAVORITE QUESTION THANK YOU FOR ASKING

Marzenie is my omori au In which the games events occur from Basil’s perspective rather then Sunny’s, which includes giving Basil his own “headspace”, that’s what “Marzenie” is (Marzenie being the polish word for dream)

Marzenie is yes, a space that exists in Basil’s dreams, but that’s about all it has in common with headspace- Basil’s views on the world and his fears influence Marzenie to be far bleaker and more violent then Headspace

Here’s a Map I made to help visualize things I’m talking about-

Marzenie is a frosted over wasteland, everything in it is based upon the very worst of Basil’s thoughts— unlike Sunny he doesn’t really repress his trauma’s, they burden him actively and in some cases voluntarily—  Basil, considering himself responsible for everything tears happened to his friends, allows this hell to exist in his mind as the punishment he believes he deserves

that’s not to say Basil controls Marzenie, it’s almost entirely subconscious, just that Basil allows Marzenie too exist and doesn’t try to improve his thinking

Additionally, like headspace, Marzenie has a persona character for Basil and a Stranger for Sunny

Basil’s persona is Marze, but don’t get me wrong, Marze is not like Omori- while Omori is somewhat of an individual and separate character, Marze is no more then a costume and possesses no consciousness or autonomy separate from Basil- Marze is just a costume that Basil is wearing in these dreams of Marzenie

As for Basil’s Stranger, his name is Sol, within Marzenie itself Sol is a god, the very embodiment of the sun- but separated from his character, metaphorically Sol is Basil’s idealization’s of Sunny and the role Sol plays in Marzenie’s story is a parallel to how Basil has felt without Sunny, like a world without its sun

There are other things in Marzenie that I could absolutely ramble about but I’ll only go on like this if you actually want to know- but that’s rhe rundown!

Marzenie Fun facts time!

So Marze has Moth wings, this is not new information but for reference here’s the image anyway

The fun fact is actually that Marze’s wings are completely useless, they don’t work

This is for two reasons- reason one is that they’re a little too small, insect wings have a lot more size leeway then feathered wings too but even still the ones I gave Marze are several sizes too small to carry him

reason two is the cold, as discussed Marzenie is incredibly cold and that doesn’t pair well with fragile insect wings so prone to cracking- he has to keep them under a cape at all times just to make sure he doesn’t loose them entirely, even if they don’t do anything for him

He’s still adverse to the idea of loosing part of himself

Anyway! By all other merits Marze is a deer-saytr (traditionally a goat I believe but in most cases it’s still used with other hoofed animals) this isn’t super significant to his symbolism I mean, the deer part is but me referring to him as a saytr isn’t- it was just the most convenient way to make him part deer (I was NOT about to learn honest to god deer anatomy for him to a deer-tar)

I had this idea earlier today (since this is a scheduled post that’s yesterday but lets just pretend) and thought to myself that it’s been way too long since I drew something silly for Marzenie, so here’s this! I call them ShatterSwarm and they’re kinda cute actually

I don’t have much to say, they’re just cute okay? All forms of heromari usually are, mirror boy and his rats (plural) gf
