I have discovered a serious interest in mythologies and epics of diff civilizations 😭 loving it! Do you have any suggestions? First I read about the Nordic Gods and Currently I am reading about the Mahabharata (holy shit) my mind is blown, what a piece of literature!

This got me thinking of fanfictions we write/read nowadays some of them are so good and I want people to rediscover those gems few centuries later and publish them. Our community deserves recognition at a large scale.

i have so many plans for my fics. i have days when i truly feel inspired to write (my mental health is a major metaphorical cockblock as y'all know) but when i do feel like writing i remember i hardly get 500 notes anymore. i can actively see on wattpad how many ppl read on there and barely any vote on the chapters and/or comment

feedback is what fuels writers, ppl that don't write think it's just a validation thing but no, i need to know ppl's thoughts, etc. i'm doing this for free it's not like i signed a book deal and send it off into the abyss to be published and then figure out if ppl liked it by the sales i make on it

it's just not as emotionally fulfilling as it once was i guess. and it really makes me sad:(

honestly i crave delving into writing and i really REALLY wanna write a longer story like the ones i love on wattpad but that's a massive amount of time and effort put into something that might not kick off at all and it's just hurtful to even think of let alone attempt

posted something on r/TOMT a lil while ago and my jaw quite literally dropped when within record time some angel had already found exactly what i was looking for. God bless you kind stranger :')

if that wasnt brilliant enough as it is, turns out i had misremembered a lot lol (like the gist of it was alright but the only accurate detail i got was this background character mentioning their daughter), but still, it was ridiculously impressive and im devastated.

this morning i randomly remembered a scary short story i had read back in 2017 ish in highschool as a means of escape from my surroundings. id turned to scouring the small library my school had at the time, and quickly found an outlet in works of mystery and horror.

i read all sorts, most notably the many adventures of sherlock holmes, as well as miscellaneous and less known classics of the genre. this particular gem stuck with me more than the others, which is maybe why now that ive found it, im oddly emotional.

and its the strangest assortment of feelings too, from not expecting anyone to answer, the shock of finding a strong lead, anticipation while reading through it to see if it was a match, a moment of epiphany when id really and truly found it, to the cold bucket of 'oh?' is this it? the cold emptiness after a mission completed, a purpose fulfilled. i dont think ive experienced this wide of a range of emotions within this short of a timespan. i think i went through the 7 stages of grief all at once.

it never fails to surprise me how fast i unintentionally get attached to really insignificant things and let them have their way with me. in this case i think my mind unlocked a little drawer that had been long forgotten, so mush so, its contentents, regardless of how small and harmless they may have been, were bound to overwhelm my senses.

its interesting to think that as amazing and awe inspiring as the human mind is, the brain cant differentiate between whats real and what is percieved as such. a connection to a fictional character for instance is real, even if they arent, the brain builds connections and those, are very real.

i think the newfound (or rediscovered) knowledge of this particular period of my life physically threw me back into my 12 year old body, complete with the whirlwind of thoughts and neurotransmitters that defines that sticky age.

i felt the warmth of the sunshine peeking through the blinds of the library, warming me and the pages between my fingers, but the bitterness in my throat followed when i as an adult remembered what had put us in this situation in the first place. what, or rather who, i was escaping by living through ink beside another kind of monster...

tl;dr - it was The Mezzotint by M.R James that u can read here, highschool sucks, im going to eat ice cream.

UPDATE we ran out of ice cream now im really crying while munching on bugles. bruh 😭

The thing is, it's 2021, why would anyone keep CDs? I'm debating it, but I'm thinking three things:

I actually own a CD player. I think I used to belong to my other brother and it's ugly as sin but it works. The sound is pretty good quality, which leads me to:

My father always argues that CDs retain a better sound quality than mp3s and I'm inclined to agree. The bass is smooth, the sound is evenly spread through the room, it's just nice.

In this era of streaming and purchasing licenses it might be worth it owning music. I actually bought some CDs more recently that I will enjoy listening to, so why not?

I'm not gonna keep everything, and I'm not leaving this ugly ass thing in my living room. But keeping it in the cupboard and using it from time to time could be fun, why not.

This thing is literally a time machine. I just moved to my first adult appartment and this item is messing with the vibes bruh.

I've always wanted to buy a decent, timeless sound sytem, so maybe that's the next step!

7 strangest talent: I'd say probably the ability to immediately forget everything that happened during a test or an exam as soon as I leave the room. I literally cannot recall a single question so I can't worry if I got stuff wrong unless I hand around people who fret about it. Btw worst experience ever: feeling good because finally the last exam is over and hearing your friends get anxious about what they would have done differently and comparing their answers and realizing maybe it didn't go well. Existential dread right there.

13 my religion: I used to be a catholic, went to a preschool runs by nuns for a year, went to catholic classes for years but now I'm agnostic. I have fond memories of cath classes because they were pretty open minded except some of the songs which creeped me out.

18: Do I believe in karma: Yes, I suppose I do. When I was a teenager, the belief that for every sad moment I had, someone somewhere was really happy kept me going. I know it's not what karma means but that's what I believed.

19 what does my url mean: my url is a pune or play on words 😜 I am a writer, and I am obsessed with dragons, and combing the two sounds like dragon rider so I'm actually quite proud of it. And thedragonwriter was actually already taken so I decided to add the answer to the question of the universe, life and everything else afterwards because when in doubt, answer 42.

42 do I like the smell of gasoline: absolutely not that is terrible. I want to smell grass after a storm not human industry.

47 do I have any obsessions right now: probably Spirited Away. I rediscovered this gem recently and I love the ambiance and the soundtrack calms me pretty well.

57 how many relationships have I had: one long very toxic relationship, one sort of teenage exploration which never lead anywhere, one that lasted two weeks and almost didn't affect me at all, and one vacation thing that lasted three days. Not in that order. In short, I have no idea what a sane relationship is.

65: top five favorite blogs on tumblr: @raidesart always makes me dream with their drawings. I swoon every time. @sirussly and @asktheboywholived are two very talented human beings with extremely creative minds. "Watching" them get together was like witnessing the best romcom come to life. What a blessing they are. @alessiajontrunfio has incredible artwork. I love her style, the colors she uses, the expressions the characters have, it just melts my heart everytime. And of course @babinicz who created the twoset group chat and made me feel included even though I don't play an instrument. Also I love your aesthetic.

99: if the entire world could listen to me right now, what would I say: omg so much pressure. Okay here we go.

People of the Earth, please listen. I'm going to ask a lot because a lot needs to be done. Let's stop bigotry in every way. Let's stop imposing our judgements on other people and let them live as they are. Let's stop any form of hate and oppression everywhere in the world. Let's actively start working, all humans around the world, towards saving this planet we live on. Let's respect animals and humans better. Let's share our ressources to others less fortunate. Let's work towards equal opportunity and towards a world where people don't have to fear for their lives. What we are doing right now is not enough.

Oh god.  There are so many.  SO MANY.  TOO MANY.  

But one that really got me was Relief by allofthismatters.  (i don’t know if she has a tumblr).  It’s 1200 words of heartbreak and hope and (the titular) relief - along with my very favorite kind of E&K - and i just really loved it.  And i recommend it simply for the fact that it’s short, poignant, and a lovely shade of different.  (And also, i think hardly anyone knows it.)

Other than that, the entire CS Fic Rec Monday catalogue.  Of which i’m still trying to scratch the surface.

28 -  longest fic you read this year

Peace I Leave With You by jncar ( @mediumsizedfountain​ ), which i’m still in the middle of, but then again - it does have almost as many words as the sum total of everything i have ever written.  :D  (BTW - so far it’s awesome, and i love her take on the curse.)

your mamo-butt post made me go back to revisit other forgotten delightful moments from super s, my least re-watched season. and I rediscovered the dentist episode! omg it's amazing from start to finish. it has it all- usagi and chibiusa are particularly hilarious, mamoru hangs out with all the girls playing in the park, that rarest of creature- the jealous mamoru- appears, doofy mamoru spends hours outside rehearsing an apology like a doof before realizing he needs to get rescuing. I love it.

Hahaha, oh anon, yes, that is one of my FAV episodes. Even though SuperS is my least favorite season overall, it definitely has some real gems in it

scout was born & raised in woodsboro alongside her twin brother, sawyer. their parents, a doctor & a professor, had big plans for their offspring & from the very beginning, scout seemed to radiate good fortune.

while her brother kept to himself in their youth, scout was a bundle of energy from the get go. she quickly found her place among the small but spirited woodsboro social scene & by the time she hit high school, it was only expected she join the cheerleading squad. with enough pep to singlehandedly fill a football stadium, scout was an asset to the team & was expected to take over as captain once the seniors graduated.

of course, then the murders happened, & as she watched her friends get picked off one by one, the light within her slowly started to flicker. soon enough, sunshine scout was officially closed for business.

she spent the rest of her senior year shut off from the world as she grieved not only her friends, but the girl she used to be. she’d always been expected to go on to university & do something that would make a hell of a lot of money, but as her classmates got busy filling out their college applications, she holed up in the school’s auto-shop, learning how to work on cars.

a few months after graduation, her grandfather passed ( of natural causes, thank god ) & she received a hefty inheritance. her parents watched in horror as their precious gem of a daughter shelled out thousands of dollars to purchase her own garage, with plans to become a mechanic.

naturally, along with sawyer, she was cut off. ironically, the twins are closer than ever.

scout is somewhat emotionally stunted. her remaining friends from high school have all gone their separate ways & she hardly speaks to any of them. she’s dabbled in a romantic relationship here or there, but most of them have ended badly. basically? she’s a disaster.

here’s a few fun facts: she hates horror movies. loves take-out. thai food is her favorite. wears a lot of flannel & denim but every now & again that preppy girl from high school will bleed through her style. super into survivalist bullshit, owns a gun & a million knives & all that. has a pickup truck & a vintage beetle. a raging bisexual who needs 2 rediscover her soft side before she dies sad & alone. i love her a lot.

@btssmutgalore Okay I usually have this policy where I don’t read fics unless they’re completed bc I CANNOT DEAL WITH CLIFFHANGERS. BUT I caved and read SIN CITY which is oh so sosososososos good. I’m so curious though?? Since it’s still on going I’m really looking forward to more character development from both Jimin and OC. ALSO brother’s best friend Hoseok makes my heart ache and ugh we cannot forget about Business

OMG. I Can't Even Believe This.

Hello!

I know that title may share an uncanny resemblance to clickbate but I actually do have something pretty cool to tell you.

It's been 5 years since we started making jewelry!!

I can't be certain of the exact date but I know we got started somewhere in between my birthday (9/13) and our wedding anniversary (11/24) back in 2012. And as cliche as it sounds we couldn't have done it without a little help from our friends, family, and amazing clients that have supported us over these past five years.

My babe The Whittle Master and I had no prior experience in the jewelry biz before Gem Steady. It all just kinda started seemingly out of nowhere. I don't even know what kind of expectations we had going in, but I'm pretty pleased where time has lead us this far.

It's pretty insane looking back on where we started and how far we've come.

This is the first ring I ever designed. 

As you can see I was not going for subtlety there.

Lucky for me The Whittle Master took an interest in the art of making jewelry. Amongst the massive raw crystal hand boulders, one of the first rings he ever created was this..

I love this ring. I especially love that it's kind of both a symbol of the beginning of both our business AND our personal lives together. I rediscovered this band a few weeks ago. I'm thinking we should recreate it in yellow gold. What do you think? 

The days of massive raw crystals may be behind us, and my babe's skills are constantly evolving, but we will always appreciate where we came from.
