as you bobbed your head up and down katsuki stared at you with wide, glazed over eyes. his mouth was slightly agape and his hands were gripping the blanket he was sitting on, in a desperate attempt to keep the noises he was making stifled.

“fuck..” he breathed, picking up a hand and placing it on top of your head gently - gripping your hair. “you’re so… fucking good.” he grunted as he snapped his hips up against your face as you stuff your mouth down on him.

it didn’t take long for him to finish, he coiled over you - grabbing your head with both of his hands and steadily moving his hips into your mouth as he clenched his jaw. “oh god.. oh fuck.”

hearing katsuki moan was like heaven, you knew no one else was making him feel this way - just you. but another part of you silently regretted that, because katsuki wasn’t quite ready to admit that a man was taking all of his time and affection.

you didn’t think he was homophobic, definitely not. but you could tell he was uncomfortable afterwards, not wanting to look at you in the school hallways said enough. although your phone blowing up with messages said otherwise.

suddenly katsuki was in the bathroom, and you were left sitting on your knees in front of the bed - staring at the blanket infront of you. you weakly stood up, placing a hand on your knee as you rose and making your way to the bathroom doorway.

you see katsuki washing his hands, he turns to you and stares at you for a bit before speaking. “what?” “nothing.” you sigh, looking to the side. “it’s just..” before being able to finish your sentence, katsuki cuts you off.

“oh god! it’s always with the “it’s just..” “it’s just…!” what is it this time?” he mocks you irritatingly, moving his hands as he speaks. you stare at him unfazed, you’re used to his behavior by now but you still can’t help but be hurt by it.

once he finishes he looks at you with a small snarl, too tired to reply back you just sigh and turn the other way - walking back towards the bed where you go to pick up your keys and coat that were thrown around.

once you’re fully ready to leave katsuki grumbles a quick “you’re leaving?” but you’re already in front of the front door and turning the door knob. “yeah, tired.” is all you can muster before fully stepping outside and shutting the door behind you, not caring to say goodbye.

morning finally rolled around and you were up bright and early for first period, making it through the classroom doors you spotted your group. uraraka was speaking with deku and you send them a swift smile as you make your way towards them. “hey guys.”

uraraka smiles at you, “hey [name]!” deku just waves. as you’re speaking with them, you feel a not so unfamiliar gaze burning in the back of your skull. you wanted to turn, but you knew who it was.

hearing kirishima yelling at katsuki to “stay focused” as he was ranting about something new to his buddy, it wasnt new to you that he would consistently stare at you in every period. stalking what you were doing but whenever you try to engage with katsuki he’ll bat you away like you’re some kind of a deadly disease.

everyone knew you liked guys, it was more of an open thing for you. and when katsuki would push you away it hurt more knowing that he’s most likely pushing you away so he won’t be judged by being seen with you. you shake the feeling of his eyes on you off and you continue to engage in conversation with your friends before the teacher enters the room.

once lunch started, you made your way towards your table. it was next to katsuki’s group and you looked straight forward as you sat down infront of your friends, not daring to take a glance at katsukis table knowing he was looking at you.

lunch went by like normal, until (apparently) kaminari said something “annoying” and katsuki went off. you finally turned your head towards his table and you see katsuki standing up out of his chair bent over the table with his hands clutched in fists as he screams at kaminari for something.

soon enough the other kids of the academy had their phones whipped out and pointing at their table, huddling around it screaming “fight! fight!” katsuki had grabbed ahold of kaminaris jacket.

before things escalated further you quickly made your way towards katsuki, grabbing him by the shoulder and shoving him off of kaminari - standing in between the two in front of the table. “what the hell are you doing?” you ask, running a hand through your hair as you look back at kaminari with an apologetic look.

they knew you were friends with katsuki, and they didn’t think anything of it. the only person who had an issue with yalls relationship was katsuki bakugo himself. “why the fuck are you talking to me? get out of my way!” katsuki huffs aggressively before shoulder checking you out of the way.

you give up and walk away, cheeks flushed with embarrassment as mina catches up to you from what she had just witnessed. “woah, that was pretty crazy.. everyone’s recording!” she tries to engage in conversation but you brush her off and apologize, “i have to go.” she looks at you for a second - clearly noticing the hurt expression on your face.

“okay, be safe!” she waves before jogging back towards the table and crowd of students.

it’s late at night and you’re laying in your dorm room scrolling on your phone, you’ve already seen all of the videos on instagram being posted. you aren’t surprised. katsuki continued to yell at kaminari once you left and didn’t stop, it didn’t escalate to anything further than that - so that’s good.

as you’re scrolling you get a small ping at the top of your screen, it’s katsuki. you sigh and roll over onto your back, staring at the message.

katsuki : “hey, can we talk?” 11:24pm

you hesitate before you open it, cringing slightly as you read it again once it’s opened. you quickly start to type, again, hesitating before you send.

[name] : “yeah, what about?” 11:25pm

katsuki : “you know what about.” 11:27pm

[name] : “no, i don’t. tell me.” 11:27pm

katsuki : “you were ignoring me all day today, you seriously think that’s okay??? and then pushing me away from kaminari??? you know how i feel about that.” 11:28pm

[name] : “sorry i was trying to help my friend.” 11:29pm

katsuki : “i don’t need help.” 11:29pm

[name] : “i’m not talking about you.” 11:30pm

you wait for a response, and it never came. you’re sure what you had said hurt his feelings, but you didn’t really care. he’s hurt yours more than you can count. you begin to fidget with the sides of your phone case wondering why he isn’t responding, until you hear a banging sound on your front door do you realize.

you immediately jump out of your bed and run over to your front door, peeking out the peephole you see katsuki. his hair looked a mess and he also looked tired, he was wearing a grey puffy jacket and some sweatpants with slides - aggressively banging on the front door repeatedly until you open it.

he glares at you and grumbles “im not going to have this conversation over fucking text.” he shoves his way past you into your dorm, you shut the door and follow him into the living room. he sits down on the couch and rests his elbows on his legs, looking onto the floor. “okay.” you hesitantly reply, trying to get a good view of his face but failing as you stand across the room.

suddenly, he crashes his hands against his face and he goes stiff - you’re shocked as he begins to silently cry into his hands, wiping his tears away he looks back up at you. “do you not like me anymore?” he mumbles, he literally looks like his soul has been crushed - sliced in two. you stare at him, you swore he was joking but the moment you see his face you realize this is as real as it’s going to get.

“katsuki i..” you trail off, not wanting to hurt his feelings further but you couldn’t lie to him either. “i don’t know.” you cross your arms and look away, you couldn’t bare to look at his face. “what do you mean you don’t know? is it my attitude? fuck..!”

he puts his hands on his face again, digging into his eyes as he hiccups - you don’t think you’ve ever seen him this upset before, and it definitely makes you upset. “i’m sorry but i can’t keep doing this with you katsuki, i can’t just be some boy you’re experimenting with. you push me away every chance you get.” katsuki goes silent as he listens to you.

“i want something real.” you sigh, your arms are still crossed and you look at him again. “what i feel for you is so real, fucking raw. and that’s what scares me.” he whispers, he sounds defeated. you stare at him with wide eyes until you slowly walk towards him and sit next to him on the couch.

“then why don’t you show me that?” you whisper, silently putting a hand on his back. he stiffens again at the placement but slowly softens, looking at you. “i’ve never felt this way about anyone, and i never expected to feel this way about a.. boy.” he looks into your eyes and you can tell that he isn’t trying to hurt you he just doesn’t know how to express himself.

“you need to let yourself be free, the only person that’s holding back your feelings is you.” his eyes soften at your words, tears prickling at the corners and you can’t help but bring a thumb up to wipe them away as they slide down his cheeks. the corners of his mouth quiver and he reaches out to grab ahold of you but you stop him.

“you have to promise me something katsuki, you have to promise me you won’t push me away again. i can’t take anymore hurt.” your voice breaks as you try to keep his hand away from you but he pushes through and grabs your shirt, like a desperate attempt to keep you from vanishing into thin air.

“i won’t, please..” his voice cracks again and he grips your shirt tighter, “i thought you were done with me, i really do… like you. i want to.. be with you.” he crumbles under your touch as you smooth your hand across his back, tears forming in his eyes once again. “we’re going to be fine.” you add, smiling at him. “i’m glad we talked about this.. i really needed it. i want you katsuki.” the grip on your shirt loosened and katsuki sat up straight but didn’t move away from you.

“i promise i wont push you away anymore.” he looks to the floor and then back at you, “i promise.” “okay, now go back to your dorm. you need sleep.” katsuki sighed, rubbing a hand across his face as he stood. “right.” he grumbled, “i’ll see you tomorrow.” walking towards your front door he looks back at you once more before opening it and shutting it behind him, leaving you alone for the night.

it was the next morning and you had actually slept quite well, walking towards your first period you hear someone call your name. once you turn you see no other than the katsuki bakugo walking right towards you. you’re quite stunned to say the least but you remain calm. “hey, i’m walking you to first period.” he mumbles, walking past you waiting for you to catch up beside him.

once you do he doesn’t say another word, like he’s waiting for you to speak first. “oh, uh thanks.” you stumble over your words, embarrassed, you look away towards the wall. you can hear him chuckle and you glance back toward him, “what’s so funny?” “you.” he laughs again and you two have made it to the front doors.

“do you want me to walk in first so they don’t think we’re coming in together—“ before you could reply, he swiftly opened up the doors and kicked you in a little before him so that you both walked in together. your heart was beating so fast, you really couldn’t believe he was walking right beside you infront of everyone. your shoulders were touching!

you tried to hide your smile but you didn’t think it was working since there was definitely a prominent blush on your cheeks, he looked a little flushed too but mainly from embarrassment. “you can hang with us today alright? just come whenever.” he walks towards his group leaving you in the middle of the classroom, you turn to see deku and uraraka, along with lida.

uraraka notices your flushed expression and asks you what’s wrong, you brush it off as “no big deal” and continue on with conversation. eventually lunch rolls around and it’s time to eat, you look between the two tables - katsukis and your own.

you’re having a hard time deciding where to sit today, still pondering the question if katsuki will even let you sit with them. what if he had changed his mind? you start to feel a little insecure, so you decide to head towards your table. not even 2 steps away from where you’re seated a hand is placed on your shoulder, you turn to see who it is and it’s (again) none other than katsuki bakugo.

“what are you doing? i told you you could sit with us.” he asks, looking genuinely confused. “did i not?” your eyes widen for a second before quickly regaining posture, “yeah, yeah you did, sorry.” you look back at your table and they all giggle silently.

you sit down beside katsuki and you can feel his foot touching yours, it feels oddly more intimate than it should be and your cheeks flush a pink color, so do his but he looks down in order to hide it. kirishima is ranting again and kaminari and sero seem to be just fine, kaminari doesn’t look phased anymore, which makes you feel less guilty by embarrassing him while trying to stop katsuki.

you eat your food in silence and so does katsuki, not once looking up from his plate which makes you a little nervous. “is he agitated?” you think, kicking his foot as a signal to ask if he’s alright. he kicks it back harder which makes you choke on your food a little, you can see the corners of his mouth go up in a grin.

“you damn bastard.” you croak, hitting your chest with your fist in order to get the food down. kaminari and sero bust out laughing and kirishima smiles goofily, “haha what happened? what happened?” kirishima tugs on kaminaris shoulder and sero is hitting the table with his fist like he had just watched the funniest youtube video in the world.

it feels right to be sitting with them, and you can’t help but feel a wave of relief wash over you. you feel like you aren’t hiding anymore, and although you and katsuki aren’t technically “dating” and aren’t exactly “out” doesn’t mean it isn’t real. you feel his hand glide against yours underneath the table once you place it back down and you look at him with soft eyes.

you really could stay like this forever.

rufus shinra was a lonely kid. he didn't have friends and often spent his time sitting alone with the family dog, usually reading or drawing. he must have looked extra pathetic this time around, playing a game that was clearly meant for two people and sitting there in disappointment as the family dog just... watched, and didn't at all contribute to the game. it was a very sorry sight.

he doesn't hear yuffie approach, and he jumped a little when he hears her speak. he looks surprised as he turns to stare at her, blond hair falling into his face.

FFVII REBIRTH COMPLETED

Well...that was a complicated ending. I understand why people are as torn over it as they were Remake's ending.

The multiple worlds thing is confusing af but I do actually think they have a fully realised plan for it. This isn't a 'keep tacking things on because we have to make multiple portable games' like KH deal. They've been able to plan the full scenario and whilst they keep leaving the endings confusing and complex to keep people talking about them till the next game I do hope that the finale of game 3 WILL wrap things up.

Things I liked:

BARRET. HOLY SHIT. HE HAD SO MANY GOOD SCENES. His VA is phenomenal, the banter and connection with all the characters was amazing, we got to see his back story (and even got a glimpse of Myrna :((()...They did him SO GOOD.

Yuffie. She was perfect. She came in like a wrecking ball and didn't let up. They didn't soften her laser focus on materia and it still got her into trouble (and I'm sure the great betrayal will happen in part three still) but you also got to see her bond with the crew and get invested in things and provide a different persepective.

NANAKI. I LOVE HIM. I love how they dealt with the reveal of him actually being a baby. I love that the crew often call him Nanaki after the reveal (I actually squealed the first time Cloud referred to him as Nanaki instead of Red). I really...really hate that Nanaki stiil gets referred to by the designation Hojo gave him. And the trial at the Temple of the Ancients reinforced that for me. So the crew calling him Nanaki is very important to me. But he had such great scenes with Cloud, the trial with Barret was great...I already loved Nanaki but the game was like VINDICATION.

Cait Sith. I still don't forgive them for the mispronunciation but Cait meows the Victory Fanfare sometimes so I am slightly healed. He was amazing. I got a little teary when 1.0 met his fate, even though I knew about 2.0 because I've played OG.

Aerith.

Tifa. OMG they gave Tifa a lot in this game. I was expecting her to take a bit of a back seat, since she will become super relevant next game and I was expecting it to be Aerith's time to shine. But instead we got Tifa caught up in the weapons plot.

Which leads me to Cloti. OMG.

The kiss has gone viral and it was so shocking that they went there this early. But also not because they've been building this more intimate and physically close bond between Cloud and Tifa throughout both games. The target is obviously the Highwind and eventually AC so it's nice to see the relationship building. And it also deepens the 'Cloud's mind' plot. Because we know Tifa draws out real Cloud. It's why she can help him in the lifestream, it's why he remembers stuff about their past even when everything else is messed up, it's why he is drawn to her because he's stil that young boy who was head over heels for his next door neighbour (underneath the trauma).

But it was actually everything about Gongaga that made me go wow. because, again, it's set up. For Cloud's breakdowns, for future conflict as we approach the Northern Crater, for Tifa being able to use the lifestream to help Cloud.

Cloud was also wonderful, still (when in the right frame of mind) opening up to everyone, building bonds, softening up. And the breakdowns were handled so well. I also liked how they adapted his recollection of Zack.

I love the world, I loved the exploration. Combat was AMAZING. At first I stuck to my favs but at one point I realised that I had SO MANY weapon passives to unlock so I spent some time playing the other characters and EVERY character is super fun to play.

The whispers didn't affect the story too much so we got to experience the plot mostly as expected with some fun twists and turns and a few exceptions to the fun bit.

I love the piano mini game. I love the baby chocobos. I love that you can pet Fluffy.

Now...there is one character I didn't mention above. And I'm sure some will think it's because shipping. But, no, it's because they fumbled her.

In what SHOULD have been her game, where she bonds with the crew and makes them (and us) DEVESTATED at her death, they barely gave her anything of substance. MULTIPLE TIMES when they would wrap up a storyline the entire cast of characters would have something to say and take place in post mission banter...except Aerith who would be doing idle animation in the background. She got two significant scenes. Cosmo Canyon and TotA. Cosmo Canyon was a monologue so we didn't even get to see her bond with the crew over it and TotA her most powerful scene was her trial, which none of the others witnessed. And then they dropped the ball on her death scene, too (and, yes, conspiracy theories shut up...she's dead) by making it a header note in a poorly paced ending sequence that includes a marathon boss frenzy.

I don't ship her with Cloud. At all. I can barely see any romance in even their most intimate scenes as it all seems very platonic to me (especially in the context of Tifa and Zack existing). But the ending scenes of Aerith and Cloud were super sweet and melancholic. The failure of a date, the good bye, his brain just not able to process her death just like he couldn't process Zack's...it was pretty touching. But you just DIDN'T GET CHANCE to realy feel it. Because PRESS BUTTONS...TAKE PART IN 12 BOSS BATTLES...HAVE NEW BATTLE MECHANICS WITH ZACK...GHOST AERITH IS HERE SO NOW YOU DON'T FEEL HER LOSS

SE fucked that up. Even if they pull off the whole complacated multiple worlds stuff that a lot of people don't have faith in...they will not get that moment back.

Finally, there is one gameplay thing I hated. And that is the combination of Queens Blood, Fort Condor and that stupid Robot Battle thing. Because that is three tactical/stratagy based mini games to deal with in a non tactical/stratagy RPG. And I hate them. Queens Blood less so than the other two, because at least replays are cheap and easy. But they are not my cup of tea AT ALL. And I'm so annoyed that the Cosmo Canyon Protorelic is locked behind the stupid robot game.

BTW I clocked in at about 95 hours. I've not done everything but I did a very high chunk.

Edit: yeah...one final thing. Cid and Vincent might as well not have been in the game. They were less relevant than Johnny to the story.

But I'll end on another positive: the Junon Parade. Not only did I greatly enjoy the actual parade but MIDGAR 7th INFANTRY.

Please get them as the crew for the Highwind. I also loved Cloud's mini arc of becoming a successful leader. A+++

Overall my score of the game is probably 9/10. Might drop down or go up depending on the final game. But I'm super satisfied with it.

Had anyone older been attempting to flirt with her, Cloud would have told them to beat it. But in this case it was probably a good thing to be socializing with someone in her age bracket. Even if the person sounded like an idiot... based on delivering the worst pick-up line he ever heard. "We live in a world full of weirdos," Cloud said with a shrug. "He should have just given you a flower. Or chocolate." The merc was speaking from his own experiences with love. Aerith had given him a flower when they met and some time later during their travels he had given her a box of chocobo-shaped chocolates. "Shouldn't you be asking one of the girls about, uh... this kinda thing?" he muttered, ducking his head.

YEAS!!!!!!!!!!! blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most) zack, cloud and... yeah... regrettably, genesis (derogatory) scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped) yuffie!! and nanaki! zack again too, I love yuffies antics, nanaki is like a little creacher but he speaks like an old man despite being a teenager in human terms, autistic (complimentary) dare I say, and zack is described as a puppy in cc for a reason. I would put cloud here bc of how baby faced he is in remake but tbh he gives me more gender envy than anything else scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave) BARRET!! he's one of the most characters ever, he cares So Much about things and I like that. and yeah angeal too, reeve tuesti as well, bystanders having to make hard (and often wrong) choices is something I think is compelling in a story glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week) KUNSEL CHRISIS CORE. OMG this description is so accurate, When he was namedropped in remake I was thinking about it for days. I really didn't shup up for a week poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave) obligatory soldier trio, look I know chrisis core was mostly pandering for sephiroth sympathizers (it's not like his motives are uncalled for/out of nowhere in the base game but yk) but it succeeded. I care them. why is genesis one of my favourite characters now. drama kid (adds him to my collection of poor little chirp chirps together with ankh kamen rider ooo and a certain spoiler character or 2 from endwalker ffxiv)

The Mad Ship by Robin Hobb. 906 pages and despite being a slow reader I got it done in 4 days. Such a shame the final book of the series let it down so badly.

75: Tell us about your pets!

Omg yes. Okay. I have two cats: Yuffie (named after the FFVII character) and Bub (short for Beelzebubbles, but we just call him Bubby most of the time).

Yuffie is 3.5 kilos of floof and rage. She is the loudest cat I have ever known. Not only does she constantly have things to say (mostly teeny tiny complaints, but she also just likes to talk to us), she is not light on her feet in the slightest. One time I thought someone was knocking on the door, but it was actually just her walking down the stairs. She’s also super clumsy and sometimes just jumps into the cupboard door instead of jumping onto the kitchen counter. She isn’t much of a cuddler and generally objects to being picked up, but she kinda tolerates it. Sometimes she’ll sleep on my lap, but it’s pretty rare and almost always when I was about to get up. If she’s not getting enough attention she’ll march over, yell at you, and then collapse on the floor with her belly up (we’ve dubbed this her “drama flomp”).

(She knows she’s pretty and often poses for the camera!)

Bubby is half bengal, so he’s pretty big. 5 kilos of pure muscle. He’s black in most lights with a little white spot on his throat and another on his tum, but in bright sunlight you can see he’s actually dark orange with black stripes like a tiger. He is so. so cuddly. He gets seriously upset if he doesn’t get his morning snuggles! He gives me lots of kisses, rubbing his little face against mine and licking my nose. One of his favourite things ever is my fluffy jumper. He’s not so interested when it’s not on me, but if I’m wearing it he goes nuts for it, suckling and making bread and purring so hard he chirps. His arch nemesis is his own shadow, and he’ll often run around in circles trying to capture its tail until he gets dizzy and falls over. He also doesn’t know how to bury his poop - he understand his paw kinda has to make a scraping motion, but he just paws uselessly at the air or up the wall next to the litter tray.

(This is just how he likes to sleep, idk)

I finished the FF7 Remake, and oh boy do I have THOUGHTS!!!! It’s been like an hour and a half and I’m still riding that high omg

if this was just the first part, I can only imagine how the rest of the game’s gonna go...

- This game was seriously SO FUN???? I honestly can’t remember the last time I had so much FUN with a game...they really did so well with all the gameplay mechanics and having a good balance of everything, so A++++ for that!

- They weren’t kidding when they said this would basically be a ~full~ game on its own, despite only being the first episode....I got close to 50 hours of gameply (although a lot of it was just me farting around doing nothing lmao) and nothing felt like it was lacking :D

- I really liked (most) of the new VAs! I was kinda worried about Barrett in the trailers, but he came through for me lolol even the NPCs sounded awesome!

- We all know Don Corneo’s a pig, but I actually really enjoyed his scenes because his VA was clearly having so much fun with it ahaha~ And I LOVE that they kept in the “I’ll cut them off/smash them/rip them off” lines pffft. Too classic!

- I LOOOOVE all the stuff they elaborated on....it was nice to see more of Midgar and hang out with the AVALANCHE nerds. I remember not really giving much of a fuck when they died in the OG, but I was full on sobbing at Jessie’s death scene in this game a;lskjf;laiwjef

- I thought the battle with Rude was kinda clever, that he wouldn’t really hurt Aerith but just kept putting her to sleep when you switched over to her...so RUDE hahahaha B)

- I WAS NOT EXPECTING TO SEE CAIT SITH???!!! It makes me wonder if they’re gonna have a different way of introducing him, or if he’s gonna have a different sort of role...maybe Reeve will finally tell us how he operates a robot cat with a Scottish accent

- I loved the little details in the animation, like how when you climbed all the stairs in the Shinra building (because of course I did that lmao), Cloud gradually got slower and slower...or how when you controlled Tifa, she was naturally faster. And how Barrett sort of ‘limped’ when he climbed the ladders cause he just has one hand......I love tiny details and effort like that ahhh it warms my cold black heart!!!

- speaking of which, if you watch Red XIII pull the levers....you can kind of see how he’ll be able to pull off the sailor suit later on lmao I love him

- WALL MARKET!!!!!!! Definitely my favorite chapter omg alskdjflaiwejf The dance sequences were PERFECT!!! When did Cloud learn to dance?! I can’t wait to go back and replay that chapter lmao

- AERITH SMACKING THE GRUNTS AROUND WITH A CHAIR ADDED TEN YEARS TO MY LIFE

- So much of the game gave me XIII trilogy vibes....a lot of it was the music, but the gameplay and some bosses made me feel it too :D

- Am I crazy.......or were practically all the scenes with Sephiroth amazingly gay??? like idk if it’s just Hoech doing that, but........damn

- I officially ship Cloud/Tifa/Aerith as an OT3, but Tifa/Aerith were so cute and gay ahhhhhhhh~ Even if you don’t have shipper goggles, they did amazing at really elaborating their friendship!

- Honestly, all of the relationships between everybody were SO well done without it seeming like they were trying too hard. It felt so natural and easy, even between the NPCs, A++++ to the writers

- Battle-wise, I liked playing as Tifa the best, mostly because I typically enjoy using speedy characters. I actually liked playing as Aerith the least, even though I also enjoy using mages...Barrett took some getting used to, but he grew on me. And of course Cloud was lovely~ It’ll be interesting playing as Red eventually, I think he’ll be really fun to control

- I wonder if Yuffie’s eventual appearance will be handled differently, because they really kept emphasizing the whole “AVALANCHE IS WORKING WITH WUTAI!!!!!!!!” angle....and I doubt Yuffie will be an optional party member, so there might be some more story stuff there. I bet with Vincent they’ll just make waking him up mandatory lmao

- Going back to Wall Market....am I crazy, or was Chocobo Sam the only possible straight one of the trio 8D Madam M was clearly pansexual, don’t @ me

- I was talking to a friend about the ending, and she had what I think is a good theory that the Whispers have seen things play out before and this is just a reoccurring timeline. It would explain why Cloud had visions of Aerith praying for Holy, why Tifa saw Meteor, how they saw Red running around in the future... (plus, this was sort of the plot of Type-0, so it wouldn’t be the first time it’s been done lol)

- tbh though, I’m not sure how the possibility of Zack not going to Hawaii will play into things. Cloud’s cocky personality is a result of his trauma from Zack’s trip to Hawaii....so if that happened differently....

- Maybe Asshole Hojo picked Zack up??? Because he did seem to know who Cloud was and was all interested in furthering his ~experiments~ so it’s entirely possibly he’s a dick and has Zack locked up somewhere again....

- OR maybe Zack’s just in hiding and that’s what the “I’LL GO GET KUNSEL” line was all about, since Kunsel knows all?? IDK MY HEAD HURTS

- That being said, I need to think about things more and as I mentioned, there may be rambles in my tags in the coming weeks ahaha~

OVERALL, this game was a BLAST!!!! I loved it so much, and like I said, I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun playing something. 10000000000/10, highly recommended to the world and I can’t wait for the next part!

Some more thoughts from mid-chapter 13 to mid-chapter 16 I think, a bit before the board meeting. Spoilers for ff7r through that point, spoilers for the entire OG:

-how is wedge still alive. I’m happy but baffled. He’s a good boy and I don’t want to be hurt again as I don’t expect him to survive the game. Right now I think that as soon as he wakes up or opens his mouth the watchers will realize he’s there and go kill him. I have also considered a far more hurty option that cannot happen, that he lives up until Elmyra and Marlene get kidnapped and dies trying to protect them, which would make Reeve’s entire plan way more shitty than it already is, and would be very hurtful to me personally. Reeve and Wedge are both good boys who like cats! I don’t want this to happen but I can’t ignore it now that I’ve thought of it! (I first wrote this before going to the Shinra Building annnnnnd now I’m really concerned that my fears are justified.)

-my favorites are still the parts where you control Aerith, especially in Wall Market where she was put in control purely so Cloud could have a moment to himself to react to something, but I severely underestimated just how great controlling Barret outside battles could be, mowing down crates and barriers in a Shinra facility. He was having the time of his life and so was I. It also has me really psyched that every character will have their controllable moments over the course of however many games, each with their own interaction with the environment. Will Vincent do huge floaty jumps and get up to platforms even Cloud can’t reach? Will Yuffie do ninja parkour? Will Cait Sith dismount his moogle and go through tight spaces? I can’t even think of a thing for Red but just imagine controlling him, think of how he moves, it’ll be amazing

-cloud having flashbacks in the lab was perfection. I also cheerfully decided that the cut from inside the lab just after that with Barret picking up Wedge to outside the hole wasn’t just due to technical limitations of not wanting to animate Barret carrying Wedge and backtracking through the whole damn place and coming up with a way out, but was in fact because we were in control of Cloud again and to protect himself from those flashbacks he disassociated hard.

-I find it really interesting to consider what cloud believes his backstory to be right now, and what Tifa thinks it is. Cloud thinks he left home at 14, joined soldier, made first class, went back to nibelheim for a mission with Sephiroth who was his buddy, watched Sephiroth completely melt down and go insane and destroy the town, confronted Sephiroth and then hrmph mmm uhhh he survived and Sephiroth didn’t so obviously he killed Sephiroth, and then maybe he was in a tube briefly in the aftermath but he escaped somehow and he’s been a merc ever since! While Tifa thinks he left home and joined soldier, made first class but never came back to nibelheim, and quit Shinra for reasons he hasn’t told her yet but she probably suspects it was when he learned what happened to Nibelheim, and then became a merc.

-oddly, I liked Leslie more before his tragic backstory was revealed. He’s still pretty cool for a new character, I just liked it better when he was enigmatically vaguely opposed to the pervy horribleness that went on behind the doors, rather than having a reason for it.

after entering the Shinra building:

-playing as tifa was also magical

-I found the Shinra museum hilarious and was half expecting there to be some sort of Sephiroth shrine in there. Reeve is the only one who took it seriously!

-also NEW REEVE SCENE! He’s overworked and he has an assistant. Both of which where obvious but were cool to see!

-speaking of which… okay, for the longest time I thought maybe Reeve was coerced or forced into spying. Then his first appearance in a trailer came along, and I leapt to the conclusion that he thought up with the spying plan all on his own because he’s just trying to prove that avalanche can be dealt with without throwing a city at them and killing thousands of innocents. Now, between the Cait Sith scene and this little bitty new scene, I’m kind of wondering if he just… sends Cait Sith to join avalanche on purpose and completely straight. With little more spying planned than “maybe keep an eye on them”. And perhaps then we bring in Tseng and a little blackmail/coercion—like, the Turks find out what he’s doing and are like “great, you can give us updates on what they’re doing. or we can tell the president that you’re a traitor.” I’m really excited to keep seeing more of him, and cannot wait for his whole arc!

-Hojo is horrifying. Omg so gross, don’t talk to Aerith about harvesting her mother’s body for science! WTF man. How is he immediately worse than old “these animals are on the brink of extinction” OG Hojo? I mean, I haven’t gotten up to that part yet, he will probably keep piling the vileness on. Man, I feel sorry for Sephiroth.

-I am really bad at using the stagger mechanic. That and mastering all the magic Materia is all I have left to do for Chadley.

-it’s interesting that they already have Sephiroth gliding through the building. I assume this is more for a bit of a confrontation with cloud when they see Jenova, as seen in the trailer, than for “Sephiroth is gonna kill President Shinra ASAP”, but who even knows at this point.

-I like how they made Mayor domino more serious while still maintaining his ridiculousness!

-OH and sneaking up the emergency stairs was GOLD. I’m not sure if there were mechanics to it that I missed, but I just ran Cloud up the stairs like normal and he gradually got slower and slower and by the end he was just trudging up the stairs it was amazing.

-and I’m slightly bummed that Barret didn’t say anything about a golden shiny wire of hope, but whatever.

-not sure yet what to make of the huge flash-forward in the video but dang that was a pretty cutscene

Team Clash Round 1

Team Clash is a facebook community event comprised of 24 teams with 3 people in each team. And a reserve player. Each person battles an opponent from opposing team Bo1 3 games in total. Also to note, is the tournament is world format. Meaning that 3 copies of each serial is allowed between all decks.

My Team name is: The Battlesquare. Team members include Myself, Dan. Nick and Rochena in reserve. 

Dan went first using his Wind/Water build his opponent was using an Earth/Ice deck. Dan won 7-6 (close one) 

1-0 to us

Nick went second using Scions Lightning/Earth he was up against Earth/Wind. Sadly losing that one 7-4 

1-1 all tied

So into the final battle the games are all tied one a piece and my teams fate rests on my shoulders, can i get the victory or crack under the pressure? 

My deck I decided to use mono earth with a splash of wind (8 cards) in total. My opponent was using Fire/Water. 

We rolled for first I rolled a 4 he rolled a 1. I decided to go first, I had a good opening hand so decided to keep I had a 1 drop evoker, 3 drop Jessie Searcher, and a Enna Kros. I drop a card play evoker pass. no value (omg) 

He plays a 2 drop fire backup and passes back. My turn I draw into a miner (happy days) drop a hecatonchier and jessie, get jessie back, tap my 1cp evoker, discard jessie and play Enna Kros. Was a good turn i’m upto 3 backups to his 1. I pass. 

He plays another 2 cost backup water this time, so he’s got both of his colours open now, taps his backup to play a 1cp goblin (haste) and passes. My turn was quick, i had the choice to get a forward out or play another backup, i decided to get to 4 backups so rest of the game i can tap 4 and get my forwards out, which are mainly 4 costs. And build hand advantage up. I tap 1 play another evoker pass. 

His turn he discards a vivi and plays sabin, i was surprised he didn’t use goblin to give him haste and get first point of damage in. Anyway he passed back to me. I tap 4 get Vincent (L) followed up by his sidekick Yuffie. And pass. Vincent on 10k

He then taps 1 discards 2 plays 5 cost steiner and searches for a Eiko and passes back to me. I tap 1 play a Leo who enters field with 8k power. I then tap a backup for wind play cactuar, tap another backup for wind to play a second cactuar. Putting Leo on 10k. I got attack step. And declare attack with Vincent who has brave. No blocks I get first point of damage through. Hitting a Famfrit Ex. He decides to use it’s Ex effect and removes Steiner I remove yuffie. lowering Vincent and Leo by 1k. I pass turn. 

He draws 2 currently six at hand at this point still with 2 backups, he discards an Ashe taps a backup plays Eiko and searches for another Stiener, Passes to me. 

I tap 4 play dadulama, ping the two cactuars to kill his Sabin (poor sabin) he responds with a famfrit and ellects to remove sabin. I choose Vincent :( Go to attack phase and swing with Leo to get another point of damage in 2-0 

his turn taps 3 discards 1 to my surprise plays Amarant which has an ability for dull cost: Put 1 forward into the breakzone. choose 1 forward, deal it equal to the power of the forward put in the breakzone. Passes back to me. 

I tap 3 use wind with leo abilty discard a card and play 5cp diabolos. to break Amarant and reactivate my backups. He responds by using Goblin, giving Amarant haste. Uses Amarants ability to put himself in the breakzone, dealing 9k to my Dadulama. I had a 4cp emperor in hand maybe should of put that down first in hindsight. I lose Dadulama and can’t reactivate backups. due to diabolos fizzling out. sad times. Go to attack phase get another damage point with the King himself. Pass turn 3-0

His go, he’s got 6 in hand taps all 3 backups plays a Wakka power boost. making us equal on backups 4 a piece and then passes play to me. 

I tap 2 and play pellinore putting me to 5 backups, i can crack a miner if I lose board control and Shantotto in worst case scenario. Had 1 in hand entire game. go to attach phase and get another point of damage with Leo (mvp) 4-0 main phase 2 tap my remainding backups discard a card to play 4cp dark Emperor and pass. 

he taps 3 backups discards 2 cards and plays 7cp phionex killing Emperor and bringing back Ashe from the grave. He didn’t last long :D and passes to me.

I tap 2 discard bring in Wol (nuff said) tap 3 bring in ingus. Making Leo a 12k scary 1cp card. Go to attacks. Brave no ex on leo. 5th point of damage Hit another Famfrit. He decides he doesn’t want to lose his Ashe. So doesn’t trigger it. 

His turn taps 2 plays a 2cp yuna backup and passes to me. 

I go straight to attacks give ingus 2k and leo brave, swing with ingus on 10k he blocks with ashe and uses her special, Heavens Wrath boosting her 2k and first strike. I respond with ingus ability boosting her to 12k. He then bismarks my ingus who I lose in battle. I pass cos of Ashe first strike. 

he passes straight back. 

I tap 4 and play a dadulama go to attacks give wol 2k brave,  and swing he blocks with ashe again and bismarks, I let Wol die and finish off Ashe with a Cactuar, deal 10k and deal yourself a point of damage 5-1. I swing with Leo 6-1 and pass. 

he taps 2 discards 1 plays a sabin passes. I pellinore and cactuar ping dadulama to kill him off. he conceeds 7-1 to me and the King. We all know the 7th would of been Leo’s

Key Cards Leo  (6-084L) Can get very large for 1cp is great value. In my match he was on 12000 power. He also allows you to get your cactuars out and cast diabolos. I would normally run 3 diabolos but Dan was using one in his list. If you want can easily add in Epitav and search for him replacing the Jessie searcher or run both whatever floats your backup boat. 

Raubahn (4-096H) Gets rid of emperor and good in general to clearing  forwards while giving you board presence. Mostly you want to use him with Enna Kros and Ingus on the field.putting him on 10000 surving his 9000 to both forwards ability.

Kam/Chaos If you don’t hit your Leo Chaos is good for getting your cactuar out. Kam searches for Chaos or Kefka, who then grabs you Cactuar. Also can swap Kefka for Emperor or the increasing popular Shadow Lord. Again can easily switch dark cards on personal preference. I prefer Kefka but opted for Emperor in my match. 

Vincent (2-077L) Has and always will be my favourite card. Why? Cos he’s vincent. Got a good ability as well, cannot be killed by summons or abilities that don’t deal damage. Can Block Estinien, opus 5 Matteus doesn’t effect him. Cid Aulstyne doesn’t work on him. and becomes a powerhouse with Yuffie/Enna/Ingus. Not forgetting his death penalty which is very powerful piece of removal. 

Evoker (6-073C) 1cp backups should be staple in any mono build i opted for 3 but 2 would suffice. Very handy to ramp upto 4 backups quickly giving you advantage on CP generation.

Honestly, maiden is the only ff7 book I've not read till now and not planning to read it anytime soon..so um I just wanted to ask did aerith say that she likes cloud more than zack? Was she being bitter with zack? Aerith also mentioned that she was jealous of tifa right?? So is this all true!?

Is maiden a clerith fanfic!? If it gives off a CA vibe then I guess I'll probably not read it....

Don't be scared to read it. There's nothing in this that'll make you go "omg they were right" because in this 12k word story, there's just a few short paragraphs about Cloud and it's all completely one sided with Aerith being a creepy stalker and him being totally unaware and uninterested in her. Whereas with Tifa, it confirms they have mutual feelings and she's the only one who can repair his mind and reach his heart. The rest is Aerith meeting other lost souls like Jessie, President Shinra and Hojo. It has some decent concept in places and I wouldn't be against those ideas appearing in Remake if Nojima thought they worked. That doesn't make the entire thing canon.

This is how they gaslight people. They push their busted agenda into people's heads and make them too scared to look for the truth. Tbh before I bought otwtas I was scared to read it because those dumdums went on and on about Cloud rejecting Tifa. They threw two sentences around acting like that was her whole episode and there was nothing else in the book.

You know what? It's a good book. The stories are great, especially the Turks, Yuffie and Nanaki. I recommend it. Tifa's story is sad, but we knew that from how low she was in AC that there'd be angst. But she's also happy for a lot of it and so is Cloud. They're cute and stupid and a pretty normal couple.

So, don't be scared to read the thing they're waving about like it's gonna ruin your whole life.

They lie. It's their thing.

Maiden is okay. It isn't a great story, though. It's full of non-canon compliant scenes and lore that Nojima has already overwritten in his own canon side stories. As for the characters, Aerith is a creepy stalker, Cloud is oblivious, Zack gets the worst treatment because his role and importance to Aerith were only made clear in CC, and Maiden came out before CC, so canon proved this fanfiction was off the mark.

Benny Matsuyama works for studio bentstuff as one of their writers, and studio bentstuff publish the ultimanias. That doesn't mean the story is canon. It means the writer also wrote some of the ultimania info, which comes directly from SE. He gets given the info, writes it out, and it goes into the books. He was commissioned to write an original story to his own interpretation.

An original story in someone's own interpretation based on a published work is a fanfiction. I can't put it more simply than that. Nojima is the only person authorised to write canon stories for FF7 because it's his work. He may take scenario ideas or outlines from other writers, but if he rejects it, that's it.

Like with Toriyama's version of Tifa's resolution. Toriyama wrote it without Cloud and Tifa hugging. Nojima rejected that scene, rewrote it and had them hug. Because he gets final say. Not someone who works on the ultimanias and wrote a commission piece.

FFVII Rebirth Spoilers

Holy shit this game

The exploration is great, the world is great, the gameplay is great (I was playing on Normal up until the worm hard stomped me but I was too impatient to grind so switched to Easy so I could get through the story quicker on my first playthrough...but the style is super fun and having a range of characters to mess about with and expanded material and weapon skills etc is amazing)

But the characters. Omg the characters.

I'm just about to enter Gongaga reactor and there has been such an emotional build to Cloud's breakdowns. Which is made all the more heartbreaking by the relationship building going on.

The previous arc with Barret and Dyne was so well done and Barret's VA is phenomenal. And then the scene between Barret and Cloud showing just how far their relationship has come in such a short time? Amazing.

Everytime Cloud and Nanaki interact my heart grows three sizes. Both two boys who had to grow up too soon. I am justified in my 'Nanaki is the best man at Cloud and Tifa's wedding' headcanon.

And, yes, they are not being subtle about where Cloud's heart lies. They used half the romantic tropes in the book just between Kalm and Under Junon. I am aware of the big spoilers but even without knowing that my opinion wouldn't have changed.

Aerith and Tifa's friendship is also really sweet to see. It's mostly been background, because so much of the game is from Cloud's POV so far, but the bits we've gotten front and centre has been lovely. And the fact that they've been shown having the discussions from TOTP and also talking about Zack etc is nice.

And then in came Yuffie. Who remains as delightful as in her DLC but now with the crew to bounce off of! She is a chaos gremlin and I am here for it. She adds so much levity to what would otherwise be a very grim situation but when she gets serious she gets dammed serious.

Aerith has had surprisingly little focus so far in what I would have thought was a more heavy game for her. She's obviously taking some spotlight when it comes to the Turks or Zack but otherwise she's not had much specific. I suppose that will change when we get near to the anticipated events.

I think my favourite bit so far was Junon. Especially from the Parade onwards. Cloud had his own mini arc there on becoming a confident leader and it was nicely done and a little glimpse of post lifestream Cloud.

Also the piano mini game is amazing. Queens Blood is so so but I'm not a fan of the card games anyway. It's tolerable.

Cait Sith has only just joined but I'm finding him fun so far. A little over the top but okay. I liked him a lot in OG but I'm not sold on him yet. Reeve is still cool though.

Anyway, the game has been out for like 65 hours and I'm 45 hours in. Still a ways to go :)

also regarding ur "sephiroth with a cat au" i headcanon him to have a terrible and affectionate hairless cat known only by the name of "raw chicken breast"

Omg...I can totally see this. The time in the labs did a number on Seph’s pet and he his sad to see what state they put her in...but she still loves daddy so all is well. 

And the AVALANCHE crew have no idea what to make of this cat that appears with Sephiroth and it’s clones. It seems pretty happy and friendly. Aerith actually pet it once and it just murped at her for more. They aren’t sure who comes up with the nickname Raw Chicken Breast Yuffie but the name sticks and she’s proud of it. 

It doesn’t help that Sephiroth only refers to his cat as his widdle angel.
