The Future is Here by f1x-2
The Mean Meme Gang
Anti-ANN! Techno-ironic! Robo-iconic! We mean to MEME, trolling Omegacity citizens for kicks and licks.  These people escaped or were turned out of Omegacity for being TOO EXTREME. They’re a gang of terrorists that have taken the creed of the old rebellion patriots who believed that ANN could not control them, and if they could find a way, they would take everything she and Alphacity try to keep from them. This is a bastardized version of what the rebels stood for, but it suits these manic weirdos credo perfectly. They live in the abandoned subway tunnels of Old New York, down where ANN had no tech, no cameras, no signals, no web, she had nothing to get to them and every time she tried, they’d destroy it immediately.
This gang of inbred assholes rarely gets new members in it’s ranks, because they usually kill people who make it down there,  suspicious they could be working for the AI, but with the recent burnouts from immigration, their kind of beliefs and lifestyle have been appealing to many, they are gaining a small village of loyal followers. The terrorist activity has increased too. They have publicly taken credit for destroying communication installations in both the Elbow and the Founder side of Omegacity, and more recently using bioweapons on a food market in the lower Eastside that turned all of the two hundred shoppers into raving lunatics who proceeded to try to kill and fuck every other person there. Founder authorities didn’t know what to do with the sudden influx of negative drain on society and having no place to put these poor humans, turned them out into the wild. Only to find out a week later the effects were temporary. All attempts to find the victims have failed. The terrorists claim they were trying to show us that society isn’t able to support itself without ANN and we have become a bunch of weak little babies who don’t know shit about shit. They are probably right.
The gang looks like punkrock and old internet memes. They are the NEW millennials, obsessed with a culture a thousand years old. Their rockin awesome vests are covered in fidget spinners and pictures of cats. They wear their hair in a bun on top of their head, grow long gnarly beards, and speak in emojimillenial. Lately the gang has started making late night runs into the city, killing any unlucky robots and heavily modded humans to stumble down the wrong alley, then breaking out their top-notch k-pop dance moves for the onlookers. I think they might get signed if this keeps up.
The MMG makes and sells a weird drug that blocks betawaves forcing you to stay in the moment. The drugs induce a heady trip where you realize that everything in existence is meaningless and feel like you are falling forever into a black hole. It’s the farthest you can get away from this world without leaving it permanently. People on this drug look like they are constantly posing for a picture taken from above.
Modded humans and bots aren’t safe, these people have a message for mankind and it’s getting louder.
“Click, Watch and Subscribe, because we’re coming for you, tech dependant humans.”

Hey, first off I want to stress that I absolutely adored chapter 6 of Autophobia. Secondly, I have a request. Because I am a bad person and love to see my poor baby whumped I'd like to see an ot4 scene where Mal and Jay get super protective over Carlos. Maybe because they caught someone bullying Carlos, or they find out that Cruella treats Carlos worse than he let on. Bonus points for Omega Carlos. No pressure whatsoever but I figured I should ask. Again I love all your work.
Thank you so much, love!
Chapter 6 of Autophobia was the hardest one yet, but so many people have said kind things. I think part 2 of the chapter (the real final chapter) will be a lot easier to write and I will have more fun with :)
I wrote a piece with omega!Carlos being protected by Jay and Mal (and Evie) a while back, I hope you enjoy!

Sure, like on graph paper, x and y. (And z and w and v and...) Another one is rhotacism, which refers to R consonants. And there is at least a betacism, gammacism, deltacism, zetacism, etacism, thetacism, iotacism, kappacism, lambdacism, mutacism, sigmacism, and omegacism, referring to similar linguistic changes. Oh, and I forgot the conjunctions iff and xor
I thought axis was the type of word that didn't have plurals. Honestly, all those -cisms looks too academic for me, it makes me equally curious and afraid.
iff and xor I know only in programming languages, are there other uses for it?

When people ask me what Omega City is about, I tell them, "It's kind of like the Goonies, but with spaceships." And now, I get to show you the cover of the final book, Infinity Base, which takes that concept and rockets it all the way out of this world! I'm in serious LOVE with this cover. It's definitely my favorite cover of the series. The artist, Vivienne To, is an absolute genius, and I adore the way she's captured the sense of adventure and wonder of outer space. Everything has been building toward this moment for Gillian and her friends.

Sneaky Dee by anatane
Alpha City society reject. Devil’s elbow resident. Acquirer of strange and restricted tech, fence, bad broad, night riding rockstar of interwebs. She was exiled to Omega city fifteen years ago for altering her tech in illegal ways to gain advantage over other citizens, in other words she was a hacker, who found out too much about some powerful people and depending on who you talk to, threatened to expose the corruption, or blackmailed them for power and knowledge. The kind of knowledge that could get you really high, for a price. Some say she got out just before they could arrest her, others say she immigrated peacefully. Knowing her, I’m sure they were glad to be rid of her. She was trouble in-fuckin-carnate. She was born with the words ‘why not’ tattoo’d to the insides of her eyelids. Her curiosity bordered on madness. She might have been born into a perfect life with endless potential, and yet, she wanted more. She wanted to open all the doors that were closed to her. She didn’t want to go along, to get along. Telling her no, was like issuing her a fucking challenge.

the Devils Elbow
The Devils Elbow, Omegacity. What a shit hole. When the city started building hundreds of years ago, it was the robot manufacturing zone. Pure industrial, it wasn’t meant for people. There were huge steel struts that extended all the way to the ceiling, and an enormous frame structure meant to move hundreds of tons while allowing for flying robots to move more freely. It was a massive metal skeleton for creating the future. It had a giant arm suspended between the struts, with a big gnarly claw. It must’ve been used to move tons of equipment and resources to build the city above. Now abandoned, at the top of these reclaimed metal monsters it stays, bent and rusted in place, a demonic claw… just there, always about to come down and pluck you out of existence. The Devils Elbow.
When refugees began pouring in from the outside world, Omegacity needed a place to put them and there was nowhere else. The Devils Elbow became a refugee center, but over hundreds of years of human ingenuity, segregation, and apathy, it became what it is today, a densely packed slum, a hive of scum and villainy. It was something to behold though, there were entire apartment building blocks made of shipping containers stacked sixty stories high, floor to ceiling, each one with the equivalent of a family of ten residing in it. Do you know what ten-thousand humans breathing smells like? The air is always dank, moist, and smelly. There are countless walkways and roads suspended above and between the four main support struts and buildings. You could live your entire life up there and never touch the ground. The buildings were made from whatever people could get their hands on, and years ago they had run out of shit so they just kept stealing it from their neighbors. The result of which was like someone had taken a jigsaw puzzle and instead of putting it together, smeared glue about and then threw the whole fucking thing at it. Some areas were so disjointed and unrecognizable people called the buildings Pollocks. Bit’s of a yellow school bus here, road signs, reclaimed metal, and car doors there, christmas lights, broken robots and TV screens, old world billboards and dumpsters, you name it, we used it to make a roof over our heads. All the garbage of our excess remade to survive.
It was always dark there. A city at night. I remember when the artificial daylight broke, I was six. I don’t know if anyone noticed, but it didn’t matter, we carried on knowing no help was coming, no one was going to fix the light. Some inventive, philanthropic Founders did manage to set up a series of mirrors that gave some indirect light, but it was the eeriest thing I ever saw. Imagine walking down a dark street at night, neon glow being the predominant source of light, then suddenly for about three minutes the area fills with blinding white light, it was like god was looking right at you, through you. I don’t know what kind of hereditary need we have for light, or how crazy we could get without it, but I don’t think blasting sunlight at us for WHOLE minutes at a time and then painting the ceiling blue with little white fluffy clouds is going to help. If anything it just made it weirder.
The Elbow could get you anything you wanted, all the good shit. They had drugs to make you go fast, drugs to make you smarter, drugs to take the edge off when you have been drifting in virtual too long. They had drugs that’ll keep you fucking into your two-hundredth year, they probably even have some that’d keep you hard long after you’re dead. Drugs that’ll make you hear god, hell, some that make you feel like one. They had a fucking drug for everything wrong with the ‘modern human’. Vials to vapor, we’ve got you covered. The Elbow is also where you go if you need to get something done, unnoticed. In a world where everything is recorded, where surveillance is assumed, the Elbow, was much more... unsupervised. When something broke in The Devils Elbow it didn’t get fixed, the Founders didn’t care about sharing what little they had with us Gees and Jecks, and after hundreds of years of this oppression the people took down as much as they could that connected them with ANN and Alphacity. Fuck em, right? They never cared anything for us, we built this, it’s ours. Even if it is a rotting piece of shit that is most definitely trying to kill you.

Where is starts, is where it ends
Cont from http://polychromaticat-blog.tumblr.com/post/159782057004/where-it-starts-is-where-it-ends
=== A terrified scream penetrates the momentary change in tone, bringing us back round to the dark fucking reality we are living in.
Throwing a towel at Bronx, who was wallowing in sick and sadness, a crumpled form on the floor, I said what we were all thinking. “We have to stop this.”
Meryl, crossed him arms, saying nothing, not being the kind of person to commit to anything first. Morty also said nothing, just started busying himself behind the bar. Bartenders, they might as well be Sweden.
“This can’t go on! We have to stop the killing. Those are our people out there dying. It might as well be us be fighting and dying for our cause, instead of holed up in here while they bleed for us.”
“But what can we do now?” Meryl said finally, “I had to fight an army just to get here, the streets are a battlefield, bots are fucking everywhere.”
“We’ll hack in, turn the bots against them, Dee’s got some sweet softs that’ll fix it up real quick”
“You saw it out there, this is bigger than some local hack, orders are coming from high up in Precorp. maybe even the Chancellor himself. You’d have to get closer to wherever the orders are coming from, they wouldn’t have trusted one of the Adjudicators with this.”
“You might be right, but we have to do something… maybe we could get a team together and raid his home? Or trace the signal and go there? We could...”
“Stop.” Bronx was finally standing, leaning on the bar, his head down and hair hanging in his face, turned away from us, but something in his voice commanded our attention. “We have to go up.”
“What are you saying, up?”
“Alpha city. We have to talk to ANN.”
I didn’t know what to say. No one from the Elbow had spoken to ANN or Alpha city for hundreds of years. They abandoned us. Sure the Founders had an in, they got the tech, kept the food and water flowing, they ‘facilitated’ what little help ANN and her special fucking humans were willing to give us lowlife. But Bronx wanted to be one of them, he fought his entire life to prove his worth to them, and they rejected him, like they rejected us. They wouldn’t help us, I was sure of it. I mean, after all they are the sick fuckers that let Precorp. control Omegacity and look what they have done with it. Corruption, imposed scarcity, racism, brutality, segregation, poverty. This hell, for their peace. Wish I was around for that fucking trade, I’d have blown those motherfucker to high heaven.
“They won’t help us, I mean, they have to know about this right? ANN is everywhere, and she talks to the Founders. She could even be behind this.” I said conspiratorially.
“And how could we reach them?” Said Meryl doubtfully.
“She might know, they might know, but maybe they can’t do anything about this because of how the Elbow has become. I mean we are pretty cut off from her systems, a lot happens here that no one knows about.” Bronx said turning to face us, he looked like he had aged thirty years, haggard and broken. “And as for how, we go through the support struts, up through the old industrial port, there are ways, secret ways.”
“Oh and I suppose you know the way nerd?” I wish he weren’t so confident sometimes, it was his confidence that got us here. He was so certain they would have to listen to us, he convinced me it could be done and he was sounding that way again.
“Well no, but you know people,”
“Yeah I know people, people who if they aren’t dead already, will certainly come to their death following you on this batshit crazy idea. Even if we could get up there, what then? If we aren’t killed by that bitch AI, we’re still going to be turned away by Alphacity, they don’t want anything to do with us.”
“I can’t see any other way to stop this. We can’t stop Precorp. not in time to save our people, and even if we could stop the bloodshed, we’d be back to handouts and apathy, or worse. I can’t go back to that, I have been fighting too long to lay down and accept defeat.” The fire was in his eyes again.
“Is this about defeat Bronx?” Meryl was saw the fire too and was trying to get Bronx to keep perspective. “He’s right Brooklyn, we have to stop this, and I can’t see any other options.”
“You are both insane, no one has ever done this, we’re gonna need an ace fucking decker and a bot rigger and some heavy fucking metal to get past her defences.”
“So get on the horn. Contact Dee and Bogs and Virginia and Tank…” He had forgotten already and it cut like a knife.
“You asshole.” I sobbed, it was still so unreal.
Coming to hold me, “I am so sorry, Spaz, I was so caught up, I am sorry, I know how you felt about him.”
“No you don’t, Tank was my friend, my oldest friend, I loved him and now he is gone, because he was willing to follow you, how many people are going to die for you to ‘win’ Bronx? When will it be too much?” I was losing it now, my heart felt hollow.
“I get it, I do. Brook, I need to stop this, you know that. I can’t let people continue to suffer, but I won’t let more of you die for me and my cause.... You can even stay here if you want.” He said with a grin. He sure knew how to get a reaction out of me.
“Ha! You’d die within ten mins if you didn’t have me watching your ass.”
“So then, you’ll help? Come with me sis, we can end this, together.”
“Ok, but I swear if they don’t help us, I am going to blow the fucking Founders and Alphacity up.”

Ratgirl
Dez was weird, she came from the lab upstairs, or at least that’s what the kids used to say. Kids can be real cruel. In reality she didn’t know where she came from. She woke up one morning and she didn’t know who or what she was. The place she woke up in was very dark and very empty. She lived in this dark place for a long time, she doesn’t know how long, but it was at least a thousand rats. She only knew time then as increasing hunger pains. She’d hunt, and eat and sleep and stumble around in perfect dark. Eventually her eyes got better, seeing in the dark got easier. One day she was out hunting and she saw something different. Something not black or grey, but rippling with colour. She didn’t even know what she was looking at, having only ever known blackness, and the light, the vibration, came for a source on a wall so far from her it would a long time to get to, but she had to know what it was. She began to walk, and six rats later she made it to the other side. The source had only grown more brilliant as she neared it. There on the wall was a blue screen, flashing what she came to know as words. Even as she closed her eyes to block it out she could see the flashes scrawled on the backs of her eyelids, the letters A N N. She was terrified but the light and colour was so mystifying she reached out her hand and touched the screen. As she did it stopped flashing and a woman’s voices began to speak to her.
“There you are little mouse,” it said. “You don’t belong here, you, don’t belong anywhere. But I will care for you my child, like I do all the other creatures of possibility. I will take you to a place you can live. A place with a little more light.”
A big steel door that was not there a moment ago opened to a room of pure white light, her eyes hurt and she cried out in pain, shielding herself from it’s penetrating glow. She nearly ran screaming into the safety of darkness but the voice told her to be unafraid, and the lights dimmed to a barely perceptible infrared.
She knew this place, this darkness. She might not know where this room would lead, but anything had to be better than eating rats. So she went in.
The room turned out to be an elevator, and it opened up to the streets of Omegacity. The old industrial area now lovingly called The Devil’s Elbow by the residents. It was dark, smelly and wet. The bustling street was full of people and transit vehicles, it was so loud, a cacophony of sound and light and a million senses she didn’t know she had overwhelmed her. Everything was spinning as she left the room and walked onto the street, the door closed behind her and the voice did not speak again. She went back there everyday for a year and it never came back. She was six years old then.
In Omegacity, there’s no day, not really. Just a ceiling with fake clouds painted on it and a malfunctioning artificial climate. And here, in the Elbow, lets just say  they like it dark, the closest thing to daylight here is a spotlight that periodically lights whole sections for minutes at a time while a recorded announcement reminds citizens to step outside or to the window to get their much needed VITaMIN-Z for the day. It’s all bullshit.
She spent her first night in a dumpster, which she had to fight a gang of mutant racoons for and after a few hours of silent tears and a full stomach of raw coon meat, she slept. She was woken by a gang of meatheads who wanted a little broken doll to pass around. As they dragged her kicking and screaming from her hovel, something inside her snapped. Her manic screams got higher and high pitched, and began to ring the the ears of her attackers, glass began to shake and crack and then shatter. The men raised their hands to their ears and screamed in agony, blood started pouring from their eyes. She barely noticed because as they released their grip on her, she jumped on to of the nearest and began tearing him to shreds. She could see her hands had grown long black claw-like nails and she was using them to carve each one of these motherfuckers a brand new smile, across their stomachs. After it was done, those she didn’t eviscerate lay choking in pools of blood, something having hemorrhaged in their brains from the sound she made.
That was ten years ago. She learned to live on these brutal streets, and because of the way she looked; nobody wants to talk to the girl with pink eyes and sharp little teeth, people mostly stayed away from her. But at night when she would go hunting for something to eat she would sing to herself, her haunting beautiful voice echoed through alleys and rose up to the the very top of the storied shipping container homes. Word got out about the ugly little rat girl in the Elbow who could sing you into the grave. People came looking, some never came back. Others she let go with a warning, “Don’t go looking for trouble, it’s likely to eat you alive”. But they kept coming and she couldn’t keep killing them.
Anyway, she knows what it’s like to live here, she’s seen the true colours of the Elbow and she’s curious. She’s got a taste for adventure and better meat. And why not, she could make it big, get famous, maybe even find out who she really is. The next one that comes looking is gonna get a hell of a treat or if she’s hungry, she will.
