Tumblr media
➳ INTERESTS; - olo’eyktan!jake x fem!omatikayan reader
➳ BACKGROUND; - working alongside Mo’at has helped you and your family in various ways, as a way to repay her for your free working she pairs you along side Toruk Makto to aid him in small departments he needs assistance in, but more importantly to find a Tsahik suitable for the Olo’eyktan, but he isn’t always cooperative.
➳ WARNINGS; - 3.1k wc slight age gap (25 and 21), takes place after the great war, eventual smut, slow burn, sexual tension, use of alcohol, vomiting (mentioned once), wet kisses, hickies, jealousy, power imbalance, pet names, fluff, bit of angst if you squint, nipple!play, slight p!play.
➳a.i; first fic i’m very very nervous, but i hope u all enjoy ^^, i take requests so just hit my inbox 🌸
*na’vi translation will be provided*
Mo’at was not joking when she spoke of Jake Sully and his stubbornness, the reason why she decided you’d be a perfect aid is due to your patience, which was running very thin at the moment.
“I’m here to assist you, but i cannot do my job if you refuse to go against my requests.” you stated sharply, his ears pinned against his hair and his lips tightened into a straight line, he simply crossed his arms. This was the 3rd date you’d set up for him that he’s rejected.
Not the first, or the second, but the third time. To make matters worse whenever you’d complain to Mo’at she’d simply tell you to just push a little farther.
“I told you I didn’t like her” he said sternly, repeating the same statement he has for the past 2 weeks. “skxawng, [moron] you’ve said the same thing for the other 2 na’vi i’ve tried to pair you with, do not be selfish, think of the future of our people-“
“That’s all I think about y/n, I might be many things but selfish isn’t one of’em. You can’t just force someone with me, if im going to be with some girl for the rest of my life at least let me make my own decision.” He quickly cut you off, now unfolding his arms and placing a hand at his side, eyeing you up and down. You’d be lying if you said he didn’t make any good points, if you were in his place you’d be more than frustrated, but regardless you’re job here was to help and provide for the olo’eyktan, which is exactly what you were going to do.
“Mr. Sully, please-“
“Jake. It’s jake kid” He buds in, smiling softly.
“Jake, I understand what you’re saying and how you feel, but part of my job is providing, and what i’m doing is providing for you and your future” You correct yourself, giving him a pleading look, searching in his eyes for a look of understanding, which you soon found. He relaxed a bit and wasn’t as tense as before, nodding in approval. You quickly smiled, thankful this situation didn’t have to escalate to a serious argument like it has before hand. Those times were the worst times for the both of you, and thankfully you’ve both been able to talk them out and set boundaries and learn from past mistakes, if anything Mo’at would repeat how times like those strengthens the relationship you two share, and she wasn’t wrong.
“m’sorry” He said quietly, but loud enough for you to hear, rubbing his hands together and sitting down, his tail curling up beside him with his head down. “syeha si tam [breathe, it’s okay], you have nothing to apologize for, i’m sorry too, the position you’re in isn’t easy, trust me I know” you said calmly, slowly walking over to him, just for him to open up his arms. You slowly walked over to him, quickly embracing him just for him to do the same with you. You sighed and smiled softly, your head resting on his.
Come to think of it Jake was always a physical kind of person, “touchy” is what the term is. Whenever things would go wrong with him or the clan he would drain out quickly, before he didn’t have anyone to rely on, not a friend close enough for him to talk to so he would create a relationship with Mo’at, asking her for advice and methods to aid him, right before he came across you. You would be seated with Mo’at, mixing herbs for her while listening to their conversations, on specific days jake would speak about certain na’vi women attempting to court him, which made you giggle when you first heard it
“Who is she?” Jake asked quickly glancing over at you, as you quickly covered your mouth to stop any other laughter. Mo’at turned to you and back at Jake softly smiling. “Her name is y/n, I love her like a daughter of mine, she’s been under my arm for the past 12 years” She said proudly, Jake nodded his head, not taking his eyes off of you, watching as you walked over and stood beside Mo’at.
“Ohe ahasey sa’nok” [I’ve finished mother] You said, placing the bowl in Mo’at’s hands, smiling at her, she thanked you and introduced you to Jake. “Te suli, this is y/n, y/n this is tsyeyk suli, our olo’ektyan” She stated, directing her hand to you than back to jake. You quickly signed the “I see you” gesture saying “Oel ngati kameie” as he nodded and repeated the same action. You looked him in his eyes, just to realize he was looking at you this whole time, you quickly looked to the side and began to distract yourself.
He had such an intense gaze, does he look at everyone like that? You asked yourself, your tail thrashing back and forth recalling the scene that happened just seconds ago.
“If you need extra assistance I can always have y/n accompany you, she’s always wanted to to explore other fields of work, I think she could help you a lot” Mo’at spoke soothingly, placing the bowl you gave her down and adding bandages to it. Jake continued to watch you, listening to Mo’at’s words carefully, still grinning ear to ear.
“I’d love that” He said, slowly standing up to take his leave.
That was 4 months ago, since then Jake has been very open with you, always in need of a hug and consolidation, which you were happy to give. Although it was painful how often you’d have to remind yourself not to mix pleasure and business, you’re helping you’re olo’ektyan, he’s just worn out and exhausted. Surely tonight would help him, deeming the celebration would be in his favor, celebrating his successful raid with his party and no injuries or casualties were gained.
“I’ll see you tonight?” He asked, slowly releasing you from his grasp and looking up at you, you just looked down at him smiling and nodding softly. “Of course, just don’t expect me to be there early, i’ll be coming with Za’yukto” You said, slowly backing up ready to leave, jake quickly grabbed your hand as soon as you turned around.
“Who is that?” He asked, you turned to face him to see his demeanor quickly changed. His jaw had clenched and his grip on your hand was getting tighter by the second. “Just a friend of mine, he didn’t want to go alone so I volunteered to take him, just for a while” You said harmlessly, he tilted his head, looking at you up and down before responding. He opened his mouth just to slowly close is and take a deep breath, making direct eye contact with you. “Just… just don’t be too late okay? I’ll be waiting for you” He said softly, his ears lowering slightly as he let go of your hand.
“Of course, and if you ever get too bored you can talk to all of your other friends there” You joked, quickly getting your belongings and leaving shortly.
✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿
You glanced in your small reflection for a final time before leaving your small hut. You haven’t done much to your appearance other than brushing out your braids and changing your purple beaded top to a red one, you’ve always liked how the colors looked on you.
This’ll do. You thought, it was too late to turn back and change now, you’ve already gone so far anyway. You looked pleasant, eye-catching, which was the exact look you were hoping for, hopefully you’d get someone to look at you during tonight’s celebration, or maybe a specific someone. Of course that specific someone being non other than J-
“Y/N!! Are you here?” You stopped dead in your tracks quickly walking over to the entrance of your hut.
That’s Za’yukto’s voice. “Hi, sorry, ohe am lonu to sìltsan” [I’m ready to go] You stated, stepping outside and quickly setting down the entrance of your hut with a smile, looking up at him. He smiled in response and complimented you, to which you thanked him and began making your way to the spirit tree for the celebration.
Soon after you two arrived, you quickly began to adjust your top, brush off your loincloth and hair, saying your goodbyes to Za’yu as you made your way to look for Jake, thankfully finding him quickly-
He’s with someone, you thought, seeing him off to the side laughing with a large drink in his hand, obviously being alcohol, of course stronger than any human substances and yet tasting even sweeter than anything you’ve ever had before. Seeing him happy like that did nothing more than make you smile a bit, he’s been stressed lately, he needs some sort of release. You quickly walk to the side getting closer to him just to see he’s doing more than just talking.
More than just laughing, and not with any someone, with a woman.
And he’s…. he’s kissing her? They’re kissing, they’re definitely kissing, and he’s not kissing just any woman, it’s the first na’vi you ever brought towards him to consider that he immediately rejected, simply telling you “There’s nothing special about her”.
Ewya.
You didn’t even bother making your way over to him, you’d already seen enough, feeling your face heat up out of sheer embarrassment and your eyes beginning to burn. On one swift motion you turn around to find Za’yu and to your surprise he already had a large cup waiting for you. You quickly grabbed it and chugged it down, your face immediately going from a sour look to more relaxed.
“Syeha si y/n!!” [Breathe y/n!!] Za’yu said, quickly taking the now empty cup from your hands as you just smiled at him. “I’m fine, come dance with me?” you asked, holding his hand. He just shook his head and placed the cups down on a table beside him, quickly taking you to the center of the dancefloor and began dancing with you in his arms.
This is a party, a place to let loose and celebrate, and that’s exactly what you planned on doing. You hooked your arms around Za’yu’s shoulders, pulling him a little closer, and looking at him intensely. You’d be lying if you said Za’yu wasn’t attractive, he was insanely attractive and overall perfect, everything a woman would look for in a man, he was skilled, intelligent, good looking, and strong? A complete package. Especially with the fact he’s such a gentleman, that’s what triggered your friendship so quickly.
He looked down at you, his hands traveling from your back to your waist, grinning at you. You slowly pushed yourself up against his body, feeling your beaded top clink against his broad chest. You slowly climb up on your tippy toes closer and closer to his face, as he too moves in closer, just for you to reach towards his ear and kiss it.
“Can you get me another drink please? I’m so thirsty” You ask him playfully, rubbing your 4 fingers against your throat slowly, licking your lips at him. He nodded and reached down to your collarbone, kissing it softly before leaving to get you a drink.
Soon after dancing by yourself you feel a hand rest on your stomach and trail down to your pelvis, holding you securely as your back rests on his back, you lift your head up quickly to see Za’yu, with your drink in his hand as he smiled down at you. You slowly got onto your tippy toes and kissed him, just to taste residue of alcohol that he previously consumed, smiling at the sweet taste, and taking the cup from his hands and quickly finishing it, dropping the cup and turning to face him, kissing him again.
Honestly at this state you’re wondering where jake was, if he was enjoying himself with his dick probably down that girls throat, but at the same time you were too fucked out and having way too much fun to care. Your shared kisses with Za’yu quickly became more intimate and more active, exchanging saliva and practically moaning into his mouth while still dancing, now slowly beginning to grind yourself onto him.
“Za’yu-“ You moaned softly against his lips, barely being able to catch your breath. “I know tìyawn, I know, mawepey” [I know love, I know, be patient] He said softly, his kisses trailing from your lips to your jawline and down to your neck, beginning to suck on you softly.
You rested your hand on the back of his neck, slowly playing with his hair and mewling softly, your ears perked up and your tail curling around your leg. He continued however, lowering down to your collarbone, kissing it softly before continuing his assault.
“ ‘Yu, can w- can we go back to my place? Please” You whimper softly, as he slowly moves his head up to look at you, kissing you softly. “Whatever you want y/n”. He said, quickly going to hold your hand, just as you turn around someone crashes into you spilling their drink all over you.
Of course it was none other than Ninat, whos throat Jake was previously shoving his tongue down. “Shouldn’t you be all on the olo’ektyan?” You muttered quietly, thankful no one heard you. Before listening to her pleads and apologies you simply just shoved past her, clinging onto Za’yukto tightly. “Don’t worry we’ll get you cleaned up, come on” He said.
Soon enough you both arrived to your hut , walking straight into the back of your hut and dragging him along, to which he quickly obliged. You stepped into the small pond behind your hut and began removing your strained top and loincloth, ushering him to do the same, which he quickly did.
“I’m going to clean you up first” He said, smiling down at you and grabbing a nearby rag to wipe any access alcohol off of you. He was gentle and caring, he only looked above your collarbone and refused to look lower, to make sure ‘you felt comfortable’ was his excuse, you found his caring and respectful nature cute though, knowing there were a lot of navi men out there who would not do the same. You just helped guide his hand to where he had to clean off until he kissed you again, letting his hands trail up from your waist to your soft breasts.
“Is this okay?” He asked softly, looking in your eyes for complete confirmation, to which you nodded and smiled in response. He let his fingers graze against your nipples a few times before toying with you, lowering his head before taking your left breast into his mouth, rolling his tongue onto your nipple, making you moan softly, quickly gripping onto the back of his hair softly. “That’s not the only place that needs attention, i’m still dirty elsewhere” You teased, he looked up at you repositioning himself, giving you a cocky look before answering.
“Oh yeah? Where would that be?” He asked, you quickly took his hand to show him, hovering over your stomach, but before you could continue a wave of sickness hit you, making you pause. Za’yu quickly took notice of this and how your expression changed. “Hey, what’s wrong what happened” He asked, now completely serious as you now grabbed onto his shoulder for support. “I feel a little sick” You managed to make out weakly, he quickly finished cleaning you off and immediately got you out of the small pond, drying you up and taking you inside to get you into something, but not before you threw up on the side of the mossy ground twice before crying.
“It hurts” You said, your voice hoarse and dry, which reminded Za’yukto to get you some water, he instructed for you to stay in your room and get dressed as he fetched you something to drink along with a small herb to help with the burning of your throat.
You quickly got changed, sitting patiently for Za’yu, and he soon came telling you to swallow one of your own handmade herbal medicine and a glass of water behind it, which you did. “You need to get some rest, you’ve had a long night” He said, placing his hand onto your shoulder, rubbing it softly and smiling at you. You didn’t respond, only placing the glass down and sprawling yourself against your bed, your back now facing Za’yu.
A moment of silence has passed, he hasn’t left and you haven’t fallen asleep yet, why is he still-
“I’ll stop by tomorrow to check up on you” He quickly stated, interrupting your thoughts, you don’t answer and he takes the silence as a sign you must be asleep, big mistake.
“Hopefully tonight didn’t change anything within our friendship, i’m not looking for a mate or to court anyone now, it was never my intention to move so quickly with you” He mumbled, but loud enough for you to hear, and shift in the bed as a response, you waited to hear the flap of your hut close before letting the tears in your eyes roll out over your nose and stain your bed.
This was going to be such a long night, and tomorrow morning even longer.

Don’t touch my child.
<if Paz Socorro lived Au>
Summary: Little Spider keeps getting picked on, Paz isn’t happy about it but kids are cruel. However, adults are old enough to know better and Paz is willing to put them all in their place if they don’t……………even if they’re visiting tribal leaders.
(Both of the clan leaders are real characters so you can google them to see what they look like 😁)
•••
Both the Olangi and Tayrangi clans had been staying with the Omatikaya for the past week. Things had been going reasonably well despite the initial tension of the clans interacting with sky people again after the war.
After the first incident of a few Olangi warriors getting riled up over the scientists, it had been unanimously decided that everyone would be better off if the humans stayed away….. decided by everyone but Spider and the Sully kids that is.
Other than that, as far as Jake could tell everything was going great. The people were happy to have something the celebrate and they were strengthening there bonds with their allies, not to mention catching up with old friends.
So yeah, everything was going great, the evening meeting was getting on almost perfectly….……until an angry Paz Socorro walked into the tent with her son sleeping on her hip.
“Paz, nows not a great time. I’ll speak with you once the meetings over” Jake spoke dismissively before apologising to the others chieftains for the interruption.
Paz scowled at him whilst she gently repositioned Spider so as not to disturb his sleep.
“No Jake. Now” a stunned silence filled the room. Mo’at only raised an intrigued eyebrow in response.
“You do not speak to the Olo’eyktan in that way demon” Akwey, the Olo’eyktan of the Olangi, raised his voice in outrage.
Paz’s cold eye scanned the man up and down before giving a disapproving humph and turning to Jake once again.
“Jake I’m going to need you to translate for me real quick, I want to make sure my words are understood” Paz’s voice was as cold as ice as she spoke.
“Paz, now is really not-“ Jake began to protest before Paz interrupted him whilst rolling her eyes.
“Mo’at, would you be a dear?” Paz asked sweetly as she gave the woman a genuine smile. She’d always been rather fond of the Tsahík since she’s met her.
“Certainly” Mo’at nodded. The feeling was very mutual. Paz smiled and nodded her head again in thanks.
“This is ridiculous!” Akwey yelled in outrage. Ikeyni, the young leader of the Tayrangi, nodded her head in silent agreement.
“Tsk” Paz only clicked her tongue in disappointment, seemingly spurring the man on.
“This demon has no voice here! It is a meeting of our clans!” The man continued yelling.
“You done?” Paz asked, her voice filled with motherly disappointment.
“How dare you-!?” His words were quickly cut off.
“Okay nose pick you had your turn. Now listen up” Paz’s voice was sharp and quiet as she gently bounced Spider, keeping him asleep despite the noise. Jake’s eyebrows shot up as his eyes briefly flickered to the stick piercing the bridge of the man’s nose.
“First of all, lower your voice. My son is sleeping and we’re all adults with fully functioning ears here” Paz said as she raised a disapproving eyebrow.
“This cannot be allowed!?” Akwey exclaimed.
“Akwey, be quiet so this can be done” Ikeyni groaned, earning a shocked look from the man and an approving nod from Paz.
“Thank you sweetheart” Paz briefly smiled to the young Olo’eyktan as if Ikeyni was a small child. Only to get shocked eyes in return from the woman.
Akwey huffed in annoyance.
“I’ll be brief. As I’ve said, this is my sweet little boy. His name is Miles but he prefers to be called Spider, if you talk to him you will address him as such. But” Paz turned towards Akwey as she paused.
“I would rather you don’t go near my son again as it’s you I have a problem with” Paz’s voice was heavily laced with venom she directed towards the man, whilst simultaneously rocking Spider gently from side to side.
“What’s this about?”Jake finally asked in confusion.
“Jake hunny, don’t interrupt me I’m still talking” Paz didn’t even turn towards him, only raising a single finger in his direction as her eyes focused on Akwey.
Jake sat stunned as Ikeyni attempted to stifle a snort.
“Earlier today, you insulted my son before grabbing him by the arm. I’m told you lifted him up before dropping him again after he bit you” Paz’s frown deepened whilst her voice remained quiet and reprimanding. Jake’s eyes widened in shock before his face darkened in displeasure.
“Whilst I don’t condone him biting you as that’s not how I raised him. I also can’t condemn him as you are an adult who should know better, especially after seeing the bruise you left on my little boy” Paz gently pulled Spider’s wrist into view, displaying a large darkening bruise across his forearm.
“Imagine my shock, as a mother, when my son comes crying to me saying this was the work of an adult” Paz gave the man a joyless smile. Jake could feel the malice radiating off of Paz’s small form, slowly but surly building the tension within room.
“So, seeing as no one has taught you this lesson it is my job to do so” Jake watched as the confidence slowly drained out of Akwey’s features. Even Jake himself was feeling uncomfortable and he wasn’t even the focus of the woman’s ire.
“You are a Na’vi adult, meaning you are very big and very strong” Paz paused, as if wanting to make sure the man was still following along.
“My son, is a six year old human, meaning he is little and breakable” Paz placed a gentle loving kiss onto Spider’s soft curls.
“Therefore, you should not put your hands on him, you should not manhandle him as if he was a Viperwolf or some other beast. Do you understand so far?”Akwey hesitantly nodded for the woman to continue.
“Good. So here is what we are going to do, and here is my warning. I will say it once so listen well” Paz’s voice was soft and firm as she repositioned a wriggling Spider, situating him comfortably on her other side.
“Tomorrow morning, you are going to apologise to my son and explain to him that what you did is in no way acceptable, and you feel sincerely sorry” Paz waited a moment, her eyes briefly flickering to each Olo’eyktan.
“This applies to all of you so listen up” Jake found himself subconsciously sitting up straighter. He was relived to see Ikeyni doing the same.
“If my son miss behaves you will bring him to me and I will punish him accordingly. You will be respectful and polite to everyone, including my child, just as you would any member or your clan.” Ikeyni silently nodded along to Paz’s words, although they felt more like orders none would dare to disobey.
“Most importantly, you will never put your hands on my child again, or I will tare you into tiny pieces and feed you to a Thanator. Am I understood?” There was no inflection in the woman’s voice, no empty threat in her words or an ounce of hesitation in her eyes. All three of them nodded instantly.
Jake wouldn’t soon forget the chill that ran up his spine as the woman smiled and nodded, he doubted any of the other chiefs would either.
“Good. Now I need to tuck my little Spider into bed, and you all have a meeting to get on with. Mo’at, thank you for being such a darling and translating for me” Paz grind sweetly at the woman, receiving and approving nod in return.
“Mmhmm mama” Spider mumbled as he began to stir.
“Shh baby go back to sleep, mama’s got you don’t worry” Paz gently rocked him back to sleep as he curled tighter around her.
“Good night” Paz whispered as she walked out of the tent.
“Good night” They all whispered back.
A thick silence fell within the tent, only to be broken when Mo’at let out an amused huff before leaving to…..well jake wasn’t entirely sure what she was going to do.
“I feel as if my mother has just told me off” Akwey spoke hesitantly.
“For one so small………she is fierce, like a mother 'angtsìk……I like her…but she is still very scary” Ikeyni said softly in amusement.
“Your telling me” Jake huffed as he ran his hands over his face and through his hair.
“Ma Jake, are you done?” Neytiri said as she popped her head inside the tent.
Jake took a moment to look at the too faces sat across from him.
“Yeah..yeah I think we’re done for now” despite having talked about nothing they had originally planned, both Akwey and Ikeyni instantly nodded in agreement.
The next morning Spider received a sincere apology, from a very sorry Olo’eyktan, much to the shock of everyone….well almost everyone.
Ikeyni spent the rest of her trip with Paz when she wasn’t needed elsewhere, asking the woman for advise on how to get stubborn warriors to listen to her without hesitation…..and complimenting and indulging Spiders every whim.
If Jake found himself referring to Paz as ma’am more often……well that was nobody’s business.
•••
I had so much fun writing this! ⭐️⭐️
It also turned out way longer than planned 😅
I totally see Paz as this short lady who will put anyone in there place😂 even big scary Olo’eyktans.
Let me know if you have questions or ideas🫶 or if you just liked the fic❤️
I hope you enjoyed reading this my lovelies❤️❤️

y/n pov
it's just past midday, and a light breeze is swaying the leaves above each of the suspended pods that were occupied with families eating lunch.
i was walking along the elastic bridges that connected each of the pods, hearing the mumbling of conversations from inside them along with the occasional hiss from my oxygen mask.
i was holding a large shallow bowl of different fruits from around the island, along with small flowers from the bushes lining the shores.
i also carried a bag that was hanging around my elbow and was filled with homemade goods that neytiri had made. the net bag consisted of different colours of loincloths, beautifully crafted necklaces, and delicate shawls that took hours to make.
neytiri hadn't been adjusting to the move very well, only participating in swimming lessons early in the morning before returning to our family pod for the rest of the day. that's how i had so many different clothes to give considering how little time we had been here.
i was making my way to the olo'eyktan's pod; it was only somewhat larger than the others and was located slightly in front of them, hanging over the ocean water between the larger roots of the trees that seemed to circle the island.
"hello!" i called out as i approached the opened side of the pod, taking a deep breath as my mask hissed once again. i stepped inside the pod, but still hadn't received an answer, so i assumed no one was home and i'd have to wait for the family's return to apologise for my brothers' behavior.
lo'ak had punched the shit out of the olo'eyktan's son, aonung, after he and his little group of friends had called kiri, and the rest of our family freaks. neteyam had joined lo'ak in beating up the group of metkayina boys.
i appeared next to kiri about halfway through the fight, and honestly, i was almost embarrassed as i watched lo'ak get dragged by his tail through the wet sand and shallow water.
"can i help you?" i spun around quickly, another hiss coming from my mask as i gasped slightly. aonung had seemingly materialised out of thin air. "um, i came to apologise for my brothers' actions toward you and your friends," i replied, lifting the bowl of fruit a bit, "that and neytiri thought it would be good for me to try and get on your mother's good side."
aonung let out a short chuckle. "i'm afraid no one can get on her good side, not even her children," he joked. it felt like he was staring me down, and more than just that i was feet shorter than him.
it felt like he was staring into my soul. my eye darted around the tightly woven straw floors, trying to avoid eye contact with the turquoise-coloured boy in front of me.
finally looking back up at him, i realise his left eye is swollen. i hiss at the potential pain he could be in. i bring one of my legs up to rest the bottom of the bowl i was holding and say, "that's going to bruise badly." i bring my now free hand up to point at the boy's eye.
aonung nods his head, "you must know a lot about bruises." i frown my brows, confused as to why he would assume that "you know cause of all the fighting your family has done against the sky people." i place my foot back on the ground and hold the bowl with both hands. "uh yea, i guess we did a lot of that." i nod back at him, looking back down this time to inspect the fruit and flowers in the bowl.
"it's kind of weird that you, a sky person, fight against your people." aonung starts to walk around me, circling me and stopping behind me, scrutinising every inch of my being. "i may be human, but i am not a sky person; i was born among the people; i grew up a na'vi," i argue with him as i lift my head and look over my shoulder at him.
"you will never be na'vi." ronal, aonung's mother, and tsahik of the metkayina clan, called as she and her mate walked through the opening in the woven structure, i bowed my head with disappointment, knowing a lot of na'vi saw me as nothing but a potential traitor.
"olo'eyktan, tsahik." i turn towards them and drop to my knees in front of them, saying, "i come bearing fruits and gifts as an apology for the trouble my family has caused you in such a short time of being here." i keep my head low, not wanting to meet ronald's harsh gaze.
"did neytiri put you up to this? did she send you to make you seem like a golden child? so that i may like you more even though you are human?" she questioned my intentions. "no, of course not, tsahik, i came to apologise on behalf of my family, nothing more." i gave a small glance up at aonung, hoping he wouldn't rat me out. he thankfully stays silent, watching the interaction off to the side.
"now, now, let's not blame the girl for the sky people's actions." tonowari holds his hand out in front of his mate, trying to calm her. "you can stand now, y/n," he commands.
i slowly stand and meet ronal's gaze. "is there somewhere you would like me to put this?" i ask, referring to the bowl of fruits and flowers in my slightly sore arms. "just put it in the corner." she quickly dismisses me. her hand motions towards the corner of the pod, which already had a small stack of food and a box.
i walk towards the corner, squat down, and place the bowl on the floor, making sure none of the fruit rolls out of the bowl before standing back up.
i turn back around to face ronald and nowari, moving the net bag that had been forgotten around my elbow to my hands, "i also have some clothing items for you and your family." i inform either one of the adults. ronal lets out a small, displeased grunt, barely able to hold back an eye roll.
"that's very sweet of you." tonowari gave me a fond smile, which i returned. "ronald, would you please look through them?" he asked with a small hand gesture towards me. she gave him a hard glare before directing it at me.
ronal walks up to me while i hold out the mesh bag full of clothing. she snatched it, pulling out the item on top, before moving the bag to rest on her elbow. she holds up a gorgeous pearl and shell necklace.
it had several layers of pearls, and in the middle of each layer was a unique shell with macramé around it holding it in place.
she turned the article of clothing in her hand, inspecting every detail of it; no doubt she was trying to find an imperfection to comment on. "there's something for everyone in there," i informed her and the other two standing idle in the pod.
i wish tsireya was here; she would already praise me like a god for the simplest gesture of kindness. i can only imagine how profoundly thankful she would be for the fruit and clothes.
"how has she been able to create all these in such a short time?" ronal's question was about neytiri, and i should've known she would try to find a way to shame my family and label us a useless.
"she has the gift of quick hands. kiri and i helped her with it as well." it wasn't entirely a lie; neytiri did have quick hands, and kiri and i had helped her make clothes. back in the forest. we had all been too busy learning how to live in the new environment, especially kiri. the water seemed to enchant the girl.
ronal puts the necklace back into the bag and digs around it, having a quick look at the rest of the items in it. "if anything is a bit too big or small, please let me know and i can fix it." i gave her a small smile.
although her face doesn't hold a frown anymore, it doesn't hold a smile either. "we appreciate your kindness; thank you for the gifts." on the other hand, tonawaris' face held a wide, greatful grin.
ronal drops the bag of clothes to the floor and takes an airy stride toward me. "you give gifts, but what about my son's face?" i was stunned by her question. i didn't really expect her to accept my apology, but to start this kind of drama was a little much.
"how are your fruits and clothes going to fix the pain my son is in?" she takes another step forward. "or the cuts on his hands?" she was now leaning over me. her face held anger, and i had to admit i was scared of her.
"umm, i could help him rap his hands and apply an ointment for the cuts." i don't know why i was offering to help heal her son; she didn't seem to want any of my family to be near hers, especially me.
"you will do as you say, and only then will i forgive you and your family." ronal quickly turns away from me and grabs her mate's hand, dragging him to leave the pod with her.
i spun around to face aonung, my mouth hanging open and my brows furrowed. i was beyond confused as to what just happened. never in a million years had i imagined ronal leaving me to treat her son's wounds.
"what the hell just happened?" i asked the boy in front of me, "i, uh, don't really know." it seemed he was just as confused as me.
"just sit down and i'll fix you up," i command, turning away from him before quickly turning back and asking, "where do you keep your medicines?" "they're in the box just over there," he says, pointing to a medium-sized box in the same corner as the food while he sits down.
i walk back over to the corner, squat down, and lift the lid off the box, pulling out a small roll of dried seaweed bandages and a small wooden jar full of cream for the small cuts lining aonung's knuckles.
closing the box, i stand and walk over to aonung with the helpful items in my hands. i lower myself to the floor and sit directly in front of him, placing the items between us.
i held out my hand for him as i opened the jar and dipped my fingers into the ointment with the other, ready to apply it to his knuckles. when neither of his hands moved from their position in his lap, i looked up at him, and although his face didn't show confusion, i could tell he didn't understand.
"give me your hand," i command the boy, still staring at his face. "what?" the confusion was definitely showing on his face. i now roll my eyes before instructing him again. "give me your hand, skxawng," his brows now frown in slight offence as his hand still sits unmoving in his lap. i roll my eyes once more before looking down and grabbing one of his hands.
i started to rub the small amount of cream that was sitting on my opposite hand along the small red splits across his knuckles. "ow, that stings," aonung tries to pull his hand back, "stay still," as i tighten my grip on his hand, pulling it closer to me, before continuing to rub the ointment into his hand.
once i was done applying the cream to both of his hands, i delicately rapped them in the dark green bandages, tucking the end of them into themselves and saying, "there's all better." i let go of his hand, going from my sitting position to my knees, and grabbed both sides of his face, turning it to one side to inspect his swollen eye a bit more.
"this is a bit forward, don't you think?" aonung looks up at me with an arrogant smirk; i had a slight height advantage in this position. "oh shut up, i'm just making sure lo'ak didn't break that perfect little nose of yours," i say in a baby voice toward the end before tapping the end of his nose.
grabbing the left-over bandages and jar of cream, i stand up and walk over to the box, putting the items back inside before resting the lid back on top.
standing back up and turning to say my goodbyes, aonung stands right in front of me, startling me slightly. "wha-" before i can even finish my question, aonung cuts me off, "meet me on the beach tonight." he wasn't asking. "why should i do that?" i stare up at his face, looking into his eyes, "because i want to show you something." he smiles widely, "i don't know." he grabs my hands, "please." it almost sounded like he was begging. i knew aonung was as mean as he pretended to be. he just hung around the wrong people.
his thumbs rubbed over my hands; between his radiant smile and comforting hands, i could say no more than, "okay, i'll meet you on the beach. what time?" his smile widens even more. "later, after your family has gone to sleep, try not to get caught." i nodded my head at his words, "okay." a small smile graces my face. "i should get going." i tell aonung, as his smile falls just a bit, "i'll see you tonight." i once again nodded my head at his words before leaving his pod.
i walk back along the stretchy yellow-tan coloured bridges toward my own family pod, walking through the large open space in a daze. "what took you so long?" kiri had asked from the floor as she was cleaning up dishes that had been left over from lunch, "no one was home so i had to wait a bit." i lied, not wanting her to know that i had taken so long because i had patched up her bully.
"well, you missed lunch," kiri says, turning her head back to the dishes in front of her, "oh, it's okay, i'll just have some fruit and wait for dinner." i walk past kiri and towards our own food corner, grabbing a vibrantly coloured piece of fruit.
i took a deep breath, my mask hissing, before i lifted it off my face enough to allow me to take a larger bite from the fruit before moving the mask back down on my face properly and taking a deep inhale through my nose, making it hiss again.
chewing the fruit in my mouth before swallowing, "where is everyone?" i ask kiri as i inspect the deserted pod beside the two of us: "tuk's out with tsireya feeding the ilu, lo'ak and neteyam are just outside swimming, and it's date afternoon."
now that i was listening, i could hear splashing and the occasional comment made by the brothers just outside, "mmm." i gave an acknowledging hum towards kiri's explanation before walking back over to sit with her and watch her clean the few dishes left before making small talk.
the afternoon seemed to drag on for a while, but it was finally dinner, meaning it was almost bedtime, meaning i would sneak out soon to see whatever it was that aonung wanted to show me.
neytiri had prepared an assortment of different foods, setting them out each in a different bowl in the centre of the circle. my family and i were seated on the floor, our own plates sitting in front of us with utensils.
once neytiri was done placing each item of food down in front of us, she sat down herself, joining the circle. she closed her eyes and said a meaningful prayer to eywa before reopening them and looking at each of us, giving a small nod that told us we were allowed to eat.
neteyam and lo'ak playfully fight over the pieces of food, seeing who can get them out of the bowl and onto their plate first, while kiri and i sit back and wait for them to be done acting like skxawngs. jake prepares his food, occasionally adding something to neytiri's plate as she was distracted helping fill tuk's plate with food.
once we were plated, we ate mostly in silence. "have you apologised to aonung, lo'ak?" jake breaks the silence. "no, not yet. mother sent y/n out with gifts to apologise on our behalf, though." lo'ak informs his father of my adventures and says, "mmm, that's not good enough. make sure you apologise to him tomorrow." jakes' voice held authority and a slight bit of anger while he gave lo'ak a look. "yes, sir." lo'ak quickly looked back down at his food, wanting the embarrassing conversation to be over.
i ate my food in silence, even though everyone around me was talking. neteyam and lo'ak argued over which of them was a better swimmer. kiri and tuk were babbling about random things, and jake and neytiri were talking about what they'd be doing tomorrow.
"is everything all right, y/n?" neytiri asked me from across the family circle, "you've been very quiet." the entire family's eyes were on me now. i felt like a small germ under a microscope. "just tired." i gave a small smile towards neytiri, showing my appreciation for her worry, but the truth is, my mind was wondering about aonung and what he wanted to show me, and the way he held my hands, begging me to come.
i spaced out and suddenly dinner was over, the dishes were clean, and we were all heading to bed, each of us laying down on our own individual thick mats, besides neytiri and jake, made from the furs of animals and stuffed with feathers. there were blankets folded neatly near by, but it was a bit too warm for them.
trying to keep myself awake wasn't hard as my mind was still racing. it had been a while since everyone had fallen asleep, but i waited a little longer just to be sure before carefully standing up and heading towards the large opening in the wall.
my mask lets out a sudden hiss. i turn my head around to look at my sleeping family, making sure i hadn't woken any of them up. none of them stirred in their sleep; instead, steady breaths and light snoring filled the pod.
i continue to make my way out of the pod, making it out, and i walk along the elastic bridge this time toward the beach.
i waited on the beach for a few minutes, starting to think aonung had stood me up, before deciding to wait a few more minutes, looking between the dark ocean and the starry sky.
i hear movement behind me and turn around, spotting aonung. "finally, i was beginning to think you'd never show up," i call out to the boy as he continues to walk towards me. "how long were you waiting?" he stops standing in front of me. "a while," i say, looking up at him. "oh, sorry." his gaze moves from my face to the sand.
"so what did you want to show me?" aonung's head instantly lifts back up, this time with a wide smile. "follow me." he turns and starts to walk down the beach away from the village. i follow after him, jogging a bit to catch up.
"i hope you don't mind a midnight swim," aonung calls over his shoulder as he dives into the water. i roll my eyes at his cockiness, following him into the water.
my oxygen mask is hissing louder and releasing bubbles with every breath i take under the water's surface.
aonung holds his hand out for me to grab, knowing i wasn't as fast of a swimmer as him. i hold onto his hand as he starts to swish his tail from side to side, his hips doing the same, while i kick my legs up and down.
we were swimming under water for a few minutes, swimming into the opening of a large rock, before aonung started to swim up, pulling me along with him. after being under the water for so long, his breathing became steady almost instantly.
looking around at where aonung had basically just dragged me, it seemed we were in a cave with a high ceiling that was dimly lit up with different bioluminescent vines and small glowing gems that were stuck into the wall.
i swim over to the side of the pool, hoisting myself up to sit off the edge with my legs still dangling in the water. looking around the plateau i was now seated on, there was a large amount of different plant life growing around the pool of water and up the walls.
"i'm pretty sure you'd be able to breathe in here." aonung's comment stunned me. i look back at him with shock, thinking, 'this boy is trying to kill me.' "what makes you think that?" i ask the boy, hesitant to believe his statement, "well, i was hiding out in here from my mother a while back, and i almost died from the lack of carbon in the air." aonung laughs like his close call with death was the funniest thing.
once he had stopped laughing and saw the bewildered look on my face, he walked toward me, only being waist deep in the water. "you don't believe me?" he asked, stopping in front of me. "not really, sorry." i looked down at my hands that were fiddling in my lap.
"would you at least try?" aonung asked, referring to me trying to breathe in the cave without my mask on. i stayed staring down at my lap now biting my lip.
aonung stepped closer to me, stopping in between my legs. his hands moved up from the water to rest on my knees. i looked up at him as he looked down on me, his eyes capturing my entire being. i sat still as he lifted one of his hands from my knee up to my face, his fingers dancing along the edge of my mask, asking for permission.
i don't say anything but give a very small, almost unnoticeable nod. he moves his hand to grip the bottom of the mask, pulling it completely off my face, and places it beside me. i hold my breath for a second before taking a shallow breath of the air around me.
i wasn't choking on it, but it seemed to sit heavy in my lungs. i took another deep breath, looking up at aonung in astonishment at the fact that i was somehow breathing.
aonung continues to look down at me with a wide smirk that says, 'i told you so.' i roll my eyes at the boy's facial expression before starting back into his silvery blue eyes that looked like they held all the constellations in them. he brings the same hand back up to my face, resting it on my cheek and rubbing his thumb along my check bone.
aonung starts to lean forward slowly. my heart quickens as i notice his eye flicking between my eyes and my lips. once he was only an inch away, i closed my eyes. my head was completely blank. my stomach tingled, waiting for what was about to happen.
he kisses me for just a second, and i open my eyes again, seeing a blushing boy in front of me. i let myself smirk at the flustered boy standing in front of me.
he leans in for another kiss, this one longer and more needy. he brings his hand that was still resting on my knee up to my waist, pulling me close to the edge and trying to pull me closer to him.
aonung's hand that was resting on my face was now resting at the base of my head; his fingers were tangled in my hair, deepening the kiss. he pulled away for a quick second, allowing us both to inhale, before he was kissing me again.
his lips leave my lips and start to trail along my jaw, giving it small pecks. "aonung". i breathe out as my hands rest on the boy's chest. i feel him smile against my jaw, scooting back a bit so i could see his face, and i bring my hands up to either side of it, asking, "what was that for?"
aonung hops out of the water, sitting next to me, before moving further out of the water to lay completely on the flat rock surface. i turn, bringing my legs out of the water, and lay on my stomach by aonung's side, my head resting on my hands, staring at him, waiting for an answer to my question.
"what? can't a boy kiss the girl he likes?" he answers my question with a question and a dumb look on his face. i roll my eyes at his cockiness, moving to sit on my legs. "you're a skxawgn." anung quickly leans up on his elbow. "you love it." he says it in a low whisper. he brings one of his hands up to the back of my head, pulling me down for another kiss.
the moment felt unreal, more unreal than the fact that i was sitting over an 8-foot-tall turquoise alien.
the glowing plants provided the perfect atmosphere in the cave, and i never wanted to leave. i wanted this perfect moment to freeze in time, but we both knew we had feuding families to get back to.
"we should probably get going," i told aonung with a small smile. "why?" he asks, not wanting to leave the blissful atmosphere of the cave. "we can't stay in here forever; we'll suffocate," pointing out the fact that neither of us could stay in here long.
"i can think of other ways to suffocate us." aonung jokes grabbing my arm and pulling me down with him. i lay on his chest for a moment before pushing myself back up, saying, "come on, you big baby, i'll let you walk me home."
i grab my oxygen mask while standing up. aonung quickly doing the same, stopping me from putting my mask on. "one more," he says before giving me a leisurely, passionate kiss.
i smile widely up at the boy before continuing to put my mask back on. it hisses as i take a deep breath of fresh air. we both jump back into the water and swim out of the cave.
once we were back on the beach, aonung held his arm over my shoulder, keeping me close to his side. my arms were wrapped around his waist as we walked back towards the village.
aonung walks with me all the way back to my pod before he removes his arm from around me, bending down, and gives me a long kiss on the head. "i'll see you tomorrow." i smile at him and nod.
i watch him as he walks off in the direction of his own pod, and i step inside, tiptoeing towards my sleeping family and laying back down on the furry mat.
"where were you?" kiri's head pops up from over neteyam's sleeping body. my heart is beating quick in my chest, scared i had gotten caught. "i went on a walk." i shuffle around, trying to get comfortable and avoid this conversation. "you were gone for ages, though." she must've been awake since i left. "i got distracted by the stars." i answer before rolling over, leaving kiri to stare at the back of my head.
sleep came easy, having had a peaceful dream of the boy i couldn't wait to see in the morning.

Okay so I’ve been reading a lot of avatar:wow fics and a lot of them are sooo good, but I have picked up on some small pet peeves, it’s fine if you do this, it’s just my personal taste
-Having Neytiri being a raging mother that hates anyone who’s different. (Like, c’mon, man, her kids are half breeds and she loves them, her mate is Jake Sully, a guy who was a human in the avatar program and then was converted into his avatar body)
-Saying that the reader who’s usually paired with either Jake, Neteyam, or Ao’nung will be the future Tsahik. That role isn’t the queen, it’s the medicinal and spiritual leader. While it does tend to be like the mate of the clan’s Olo’eyktan, it doesn’t have to be. Hence, Mo’at still being the Tsahik while Jake is Olo’eyktan. It’s also more likely that in an alternate universe where the Sullies didn’t move to the Metkayina and if Neteyam became The Olo’eyktan, Kiri would be the Tsahik due to her connection with Eywa and knowledge of herbs and medicine
(I could also do a part 2 of things I DO like in avatar fics if y’all want that)

WOULD'VE, COULD'VE BEEN
Ao'nung years later as olo’eyktan of the Metkayina clan, wondering what kind of ruler Neteyam would've been if he were still alive.

Do you have any neteyam/tsireya recommendations? I've been curious about this pare as of recently!
It doesn’t seem to be a very popular couple, so unfortunately I can’t find any ao3 recs for you! 😥
fortunately for you, someone actually just asked me for a neteyam/tsireya prompt today! i’ve a great au idea for them, so i’ll be working on that whenever i can. you’re welcome to send me a prompt about them too!
you could probably find something on twitter? personally i saw a single tiktok about them once, it was very adorable, pointing out how neteyam looked interested/shocked at first glance before turning away and seeing his younger brother’s obvious interest—so he’d drop his interest in favour of his baby bro’s.
i also quite like the concept of tsireya being worried about being the future tsahìk (as she’s the heir, the heir isn’t actually ao’nung surprisingly) so neteyam being able to relate and support her would be so adorable. bonding together, and people/them then realizing wait, if she’s trained to be the tsahìk and he’s trained to be the olo’eyktan… wouldn’t they be a perfect pair? adorbs.

the raging wind blew neteyam's long braids as he rode his ikran, soldiers following behind him as they made their weekly hunt.
neteyam's ears flicked from the wind, his loincloth and feathered vest blowing gracefully.
neteyam called out to his warriors, circling in on an animal pack.
however, as they were beginning to land their ikrans, a call came in through the ear piece the group were wearing.
"neteyam- it is y/n. she has gone into labor."
neteyam's body froze once he heard lo'ak speak. his heart was pounding as the men and women looked at their leader, waiting for his word.
"continue with the kill."
his command was quick as he took off, ikran roaring as the banshee felt neteyam's nerves. he hadn't noticed his shaky hands and pounding heartbeat, his focus on getting home to you.
he landed quickly in the high camp, surprised there aren't more people panicking.
"where is y/n?" neteyam asked one of the people. the girl just shrugged back in response, watching neteyam take off.
"neteyam!" lo'ak caught sight of his brother. they both ran towards each other.
"where is she?" neteyam rushed.
"over here, c'mon, bro!" lo'ak lead his brother.
"i'm having a baby!" he announced to the clan, excitement taking over his long body.
people whooped and cheered, the women and children cocking their head at the olo'eyktan.
there had been no sign from eywa of you having your child, being only eight months along.
"code blue! code blue!" lo'ak ran with his brother, their large feet padding against the stone ground.
"or pink if it's a girl." neteyam happily slapped his brother's shoulder.
the tent was getting closer, neteyam pausing to grab some fresh water for you. his excitement was turning into nerves as lo'ak looked at his hesitant brother.
"what is wrong?" he asked, confusedly walking up to neteyam.
"it's finally happening... and i-"
"what is finally happening?"
your gentle voice scared both the brothers, your bulging belly appearing from the tent.
"my love- aren't you supposed to be in labor?"
neteyam's giant hand placed itself on your belly, feeling your baby kick against his palm.
"what?" you asked, your brow bow furrowing at your mate.
"oh my eywa- lo'ak i told you! it was just a kick!"
neteyam's ears fell flat as he looked between you and his little brother, the future uncle now blushing from embarrassment.
you rolled your eyes at lo'ak, feeling neteyam's hand travel down near the band of your loincloth. he stood on his knees, face by your tummy as he kissed your belly button.
"you gave sempu (daddy) a scare, baby."
"mhm." you playfully rolled your eyes, softly punching lo'ak in the arm.
"hey!"
the surrounding clan members whom where excited to welcome their future olo'eyktan or tsahik frowned from lo'ak's false rumor.
"that is the second false alarm this month!" a child pouted.
"alright people, nothing to see here." lo'ak pushed away the crowd as they went back to their tasks.
"darling, i know you are nervous. i am too, but that was a bit too much." you cupped neteyam's face as he stood now, slightly towering over you.
your pregnancy made your height shrink slightly, going from 8'8 to 8'6. neteyam kissed your forehead, standing at 9'4.
"i am sorry, i am just scared."
you rubbed your belly as your made pulled you into his embrace.
"i have seen you with tuk and the children, ma neteyam. you are going to be an amazing father."
neteyam reassuringly smiled.
"i will be right here with you every step of the way."
and once the baby did come, neteyam was calmer than ever (on the outside, not internally).
this was so cute omg

“are you kidding right now? i know you’re not making eyes at our olo’eyktan.” am’ake states, shoving your shoulder playfully.
“huh? what? i’m not!” you say defensively, averting your eyes anywhere but the man you were just staring at.
“you’re literally drooling over him!” am’ake says, watching as your face flushes red with embarrassment. realization hits her then, like an arrow to the chest. “oh my god. you like him! you have a crush on the olo’eyktan! and he’s like, ten years older than us. naughty!” am’ake laughs, taking a sip of her drink.
“would you please shut up and never repeat that?!” you hide your head in your hands, too embarrassed to look up. “it doesn’t even matter, he’s supposed to be mated to säsrätx, anyway.” you mumble, glancing over at the annoyance sitting to neteyam’s right.
am’ake bursts into a fit of giggles, unable to contain herself. “oh, you think he likes her! that’s rich. look at him. he can’t stand her. and they’re not mated, he refuses to mate. an olo’eyktan doesn’t always mate with the tsahìk, you know. especially when that tsahìk is säsrätx.”

“our people will need a chief and there you are.”
Tumblr media
“how many times will we go through this?” quiet. angry. tired. it felt practiced and familiar, like a mantra repeated over and over. in your crouched position, you did not catch ao’nung’s gaze, choosing to focus on the task at hand: scaling his recent hunt.
if you were any less than the person you are, you would have skinned him instead, but you were raised better than that. “deliberately risking your hunting party,” you continued. shick. shick. shick. "your friends with families to get home to.”
bless your heart though, because despite the situation, your voice remained stern and steady without so much as giving him a glance. a fine punishment, and it worked. even with your eyes trained low, you felt the guilt coiling around his throat, rendering him speechless. you had the bond to be thankful for.
likewise, by your side with his legs crossed and shoulders slumped, ao’nung felt the anger in your chest. the words that threatened to spill out. even your unending patience, which he whole-heartedly believed ewya had given you herself.
“they deserved it, yawne.” he said lamely, flicking off a scale that had landed on your knee. instead of withdrawing from you though, he kept his hand there and rubbed small circles on your skin. “they do not know how to listen. on every hunt, i have to baby them like some parent– always telling them what to do, how to do it. after one of them screws up, i’m left to deal with the repercussions.”
ao’nung scoffed, thrashing his tail behind him. “those skxawngs had it coming.” it was harsh– he knew it was– but he meant every part of it. he watched your hands skillfully clean the fish he brought home, occasionally looking up to see your face. as he waited for a response, he listened to the hushed whispers and quiet conversations traveling in the wind, far outside of your shared marui.
like ao’nung, hunters and gatherers and fishermen would be retiring to the comforts of their home, catching up with their families and exchanging stories. barely audible, they were most likely about meaningless things, like the weather or the changing tides. somehow, your silence was louder.
“that doesn’t mean you get to do something stupid. you cannot let them drag you to their level.” finished, you straightened your back to inspect the scaled fish. you set it aside and reached for the next one, pleased with your work. “eventually, the tsahik and i will run out paste to help them.”
“is that what this is about? does my mother tell you to patronize me?”
exhausted by his stubbornness, you sighed, putting your knife down to look at him. he looked exactly how you imagined: ears pinned back in shame, lips turned in a deep frown, his dark curls tousled and untidy. he had surely met the wrath of his father before coming home to you. in the face of his vulnerability, a pang of guilt washed over you.
no matter how harsh his words were, you knew that they were his last line of defense.
placing your delicate hand on his knee, you returned the gesture as if to anchor him. “you of all people should know the line between right and wrong.” you whispered gently. “we are not children anymore, ao’nung. every single day is one step closer to the roles we have to fill, and when that time comes, we can’t look back. you need to manage your temper.”
for a moment, as you studied your mate’s deep expression, the flames of your anger receded, leaving him to soak in your words.
“to lead people, you need to love them.” he gave you a strange look, but you continued. “it takes strength and courage and patience, and you are capable of all those things. i know you are, but greatness comes with humility. i’m here for a reason, ao’nung. if something is wrong, you need to come for me for help.”
you spoke with such kindness and sincerity that it struck a chord deep in ao’nung’s heart. no matter how deep he swam in the pools of your eyes, searching and searching for an ounce of a lie, he found nothing. nothing but love and acceptance. and just like that, he was falling in love with you all over again.
the silence encouraged you to trace the details in his face, like his revered tattoos and the wrinkles near his eyes. whether they were from age or ire (you couldn’t tell), it further solidified the fact that the foolish, young boy who had courted you many moons ago is now a man, one of the people.
as your mind drifted through waves of nostalgia, you found yourself faltering. deep down, you knew that it was hard to blame him. to eventually become olo’eyktan after his father’s death, without being given the courtesy to show weakness for even a second. it was a responsibility not even you could amount to. you looked away and returned to scaling the fish.
in an instant, the last bit of stubbornness melted from his face. he was already reaching out to you before he could stop himself.
“i’m sorry, yawne.” he whispered, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you close, completely disregarding the mess on your floor. you hissed and tried to push him away, but he cleverly decided to bury his face in the crook of your neck, inhaling your scent.
ao’nung, whether it be purposefully or not, held you in a position so awkward that it kept you from moving your arm, making it impossible for you to scale the rest of the fish properly. “i’m sorry.” he repeated.
“no, you cannot be sorry to me.” you huffed, wiggling out of his tight grasp. “it was not my life you put in danger.”
“i see it now. you’re right, you always are. my sweet syulang–”
you delivered a particularly hard blow, causing him to grunt in pain and clutch his side. as he chuckled to himself, you crossed your arms and glared hard, pointing an accusatory finger. “trying to be sweet with me now, are you? i’m being serious ao’nung. i want you to stop causing trouble around the island!”
“yes yes, i will.” he grabbed your hand and pulled you in, peppering kisses along the side of your face. this time, though, you didn’t stop yourself from hugging back.
when the sky grew dark and the waves fell quiet, so did the people in their maruis. although you had fallen asleep not too long ago, ao’nung found your words heavy on his mind. he leaned against the entrance of your home, unable to shake off the strange sensation, as if he was moved by some newfound purpose that he couldn’t quite place.
as far as he knew, nothing changed. he was still motivated by the same goals: to have a family, to become olo’eyktan, to protect his people. so what felt different?
lost in thought, his ear twitched at the sound of distant talking. when he squinted his eyes to the path near the shore, he recognized one of the fishermen, who had stayed out too long, coming home to his mate. he knew him from childhood– a reckless kind of guy who often spoke before thinking.
they were exchanging words he could barely make out from where he stood, but all of a sudden, the stories, the expressions, the moment— they no longer seemed meaningless.

Part 5.
Neteyams pov
"Training to become a warrior will not kill my daughter, i refuse!"
He heard your mom grit from behind the long large cloth that separated the hammocks and sitting area. He got up and peeked through the cloth before looking back at his siblings making sure none of them were awake which they weren't. There your mother sat facing His dad and Neytiri pacing around the room with Your dad sitting next to your mom hand on her knee to relax her.
"I- we won't lose another child." Your mother lowly cried facing your father. "We can't." She sputtered trying to keep composure. "We won't." Your father said trying to reassure your mom.
Neteyam was aware of your older brothers death, he was 14 when it happened. He always said to Lo'ak how he wanted to be built like him which Lo'ak would then respond to by making fun of him. But only a few words were ever exchanged between the two boys.
"Look Olo'eyktan, Neytiri If this training you are hoping for Y/N to complete will kill her-" Your mother paused.
Neteyam felt immediate guilt, was he the "training" that was going to kill you? Yes he disliked you more than anyone could possibly believe but to kill you, that would never be his intention.
"Then i cannot allow for it to continue. They cannot even be friends let alone mated if they hate each other this much, it will not work." Your mother finished.
"She is right ma Jake, but Se'ayla, Ta'achi (Your mother and fathers names). She turned to face them hand on jakes shoulder. "it was decided by Eywa, told to my mother. It must happen." Neytiri chimed.
"Exactly we canno- what" Neteyam thought silently. Mated? Absolutely not, Never. Are they joking, they could not be serious. With you? Out of everyone you? Really Eywa decided?, Neteyam wasn't one to question her ever but he was certain Eywa was wrong this time. Unsure of whether or not to storm in there or go to bed he decided against aggravating his father after the trouble he was already in and went back to his hammock
"He needs this, It will be good for the clan, good for everyone. I assure you this will never happen again Se'ayla." Jake said trying to comfort your mother whilst sharing concerned glances with your father. Neteyam tried to sleep it off, forget about it, but it was no use. His parents wanted him to be mated with you. He would have to go to hell and back to get them to go back on this already made choice.
Sunlight came over the forest meaning rays of the warm light hit your tired eyes. You hadn't slept, well kind of drifting in and out mostly forcing yourself to stay awake, afraid of dreaming again. You got up realising how early it was when you saw everyone still sleeping and your parents back in their hammocks embracing each other in their sleep. You jumped down from your hammock as quietly as possible before removing your home loin cloth and top replacing them with a matching purple set. This one had a longer loin cloth but top that only covered the nipples with a few blue feathers hanging from it. You left the hut not waking anyone and going down to the lake that had a fresh stream of cooling water.
You walked instead of calling for La'ila wanting to enjoy the view of the forest and more so forget last night. Once you began to see a clearing in the trees and a large patch of bright green grass with the lake in front of it you sped up running to jump into it.
You splashed in the water being engulfed by the ripples that clung to your body and the fishes that swam around you. As you resurfaced you made your way over to the edge of the lake where you had originally jumped off of and sat admiring the small fishes swimming in and out of your legs. Water dripping from your braids and racing down your body being soaked up.You sighed feeling the warm sun against your back bathing it in temporary happiness.
You were a great warrior, Great fighter, Great hunter, so why was life so hard. You had everything at least one person in the clan craved yet you were unhappy. "Maybe i need a mate." You said aloud laying down onto the grass feet still dangling in the water. Talking to yourself wasn't something you did much but when you did it wasn't weird. You then heard footsteps coming up from behind you. Getting up and looking behind you, your heart settled. It was just Kiri. You and Kiri were the best of friends although you hadn't spoken much over the last 2 days your bond was unbreakable.
"KIRI!" you shrieked as you ran up to hug her throat still tingling slightly, covering her in the left over water that was on your body.
"Y/N i missed you so much i feel like we haven't spoken in forever!" She responded laughing. You sighed nodding not wanting to use up your voice too much. "oohhhh i forgot Grandmother said not to talk. Yikes how's it been?" she asks, You tilt your head staring at her deadpan before you both burst out into laughter holding each others arms which is something you both did for some reason. Her laughter verbal, yours silent. "ahh it's so weird not hearing you talk a lot." You raised an eyebrow at her communicating a sense of attitude.
"No i'm not saying you talk a lot.....okay i am but i miss it!" She said laughing uncontrollably, getting louder on her last words. What she didn't realise was you stepping closer towards her and her stepping backwards until she fell into the lake causing large splashes of water to go everywhere. Again you silently laughed watching her come up out of the water as she still laughed spitting water out of her mouth.
"kiri." You heard a deep voice call out from behind you freezing all and any laughter that had just been produced. You helped kiri get out of the lake before turning around and looking at Neteyams tall figure which was already facing you.
Kiri got out hair dripping with water that landed on her face and eyes. She looked between the both of you before quickly moving forward to her brother sensing the tension building up. "Yes." She said softly. "Grandmother calls for you." Neteyam said lowly not even looking at kiri but keeping eye contact with you. You returned the stare trying not to blink. "Okay let's go." Kiri said trying to push Neteyams chest back so he would follow her and the two of you would not be left alone however neteyam remained still. "I am coming, Go." He ordered her. Kiri glanced back at you as if to ask if it was okay, you simply looked at her softening your eyes only the smallest amount allowing her to turn around fully and leave you and her brother behind.
Once he believed his sister was out of hearing range he began to walk towards you his lean tall figure blocking the sun as he stood right in front of you. Again you were never one to let anyone intimidate you so you continued eye contact with him.
"I'm sorry." The words rolling off his tongue surprising you. Your skin above your eyes where eyebrows would be knitted together in confusion. "For that." He continued pointing lazily at your neck that still had fading dark bruises from his hands. Why was he apologising. You couldn't care less about anything he had to say, he was pathetic. You began to push past him and try to go home when he pulled you arm stopping you from walking any further. Your eyes shot towards his large hand on your upper arm and your ears pointing upwards before looking back up at him with threatening eyes. "I came to apologise. Accept it."
Anger bubbled within you and your mouth opened. With your voice as hoarse as a cigarette smoker you began to if you could, scold neteyam. "Accept? You want me to accept what? Your apology? I will never ever accept anything from you." You said as you inched close to his face. "Get off me." you spat, nose slightly scrunching with anger. You were now on your tiptoes to get as close to his face as possible with his tight grip still on your arm. You stared for another second before you felt his touch disappear and the heels of your feet come in contact with the soft ground again. You turned and began to walk away, tail swaying frantically out of anger. Leaving neteyam in the clearing alone, frustrated. A strong gust of wind came pushing his loincloth up before he pushed it back down in annoyance then suddenly feeling something hard protruding from under it. He was hard. "Fuck" He thought to himself before palming it gently. Did he really get an erection from the woman he hates refusing his apology. He sighed before moving behind a thick tree to take care of himself.
"What am i doing." he mumbled as he untied the sides of his loincloth and sat down back against the trunk of the tree. His large cock springing up from the restraint of the fabric slapping his stomach. He rubbed its entire length slowly trying to be as quiet as possible, breath shaking and thinking about different girls in the clan. Drops of pre-cum emerging from the spongy mushroom tip as his strokes became more desperate and fast. Different faces of girls raced in and out of his mind but for some reason yours would flash in for just a second before he forcefully removed your image from his head. "Fuck." he moaned absentmindedly as your face flashed in his mind. Chest rising and lowering slower as his breaths became longer and drawn out his hand pumped up and down faster whilst the only name he could think of was yours.
Neteyam hadn't always hated you. To be honest he was infatuated with you from when you were 10 and he was 11. It was the day your younger brothers were born, your mother had just given birth and was resting in the healing tent with Mo'at who looked after her a few days after that. It was rare for twins to be born so when they were you were ecstatic to have the new addition to your family and your mother needed extra care. You would collect flowers and pretty stones for her out in the forest so they would be ready when she came back home. And one day you were doing just that, "Hey what are you doing?" Young Neteyam called from behind you as you looked for different flowers.
"I am picking flowers for Sa'nu (mother)." You responded standing up to look at the boy. You and neteyam were extremely familiar with one another as you spent a lot of time in his home and the healing tent because of your mom or hanging with kiri and Lo'ak. "Let me see them." Neteyam demanded reaching out to grab the small basket you had. "No." you voiced pulling the arm with the basket back. "Why not? i cant tell you if they're nice." He tried to reason his voice way higher than it is today. " I know they're nice skxawng (moron) they are my moms favourite." you responded sharply wanting to leave that part of the forest and just go home. As you tried to push past him he grabbed the basket from you causing all of the pretty flowers to fall out and just as they did a strong blow of wind came scattering them everywhere. "NETEYAM!" you shrieked annoyed at his incompetence as you looked around yourself seeing the pink petals flow away into the lake and different parts of the forest. "If you had just let me see them it wouldn't have happened." He proclaimed in hopes that you wouldn't tell his father. "This is not my fault! ugh oe ve'kì nga!"(i hate you!) You cried out as you snatched the basket back making your way back to the forest with tears in your little eyes.
You honestly had forgotten about the situation but neteyam, he would never. He would always see it as you rejecting an offer of kindness from him. Especially when he had a crush on you. So your hatred of neteyam stemmed from his constant disruption and criticism of everything you did.
When you were 15 your bond with the sully kids became even tighter, they were like your second set of siblings, excluding neteyam of course. He avoided you like the plague which you didn't mind, until he only was only around when you were doing target practice or hunting for animals to critic your skills.
You were teaching Lo'ak how to shoot perfectly and never miss, which you prided yourself in executing everytime. "Straighten your back Lo'ak." You chuckled as you pushed your hand against the small of his back like you had 100 times before. "if i keep straightening my back." He said mocking your voice with the last 3 words "I'll be stuck like that forever." You laughed before immediately becoming serious. "Fnu (quiet) Lo'ak it takes a lot of concentration and a straight back to do this. Now straight back and lift your elbows up to here." You instructed stepping closer to him adjusting his elbow. "Now deep breath...." You paused. "Shoot." Just as you said that Lo'aks finger released the tight string allowing the arrow to fly free and hit the side of his target. "OOOOOOHHHHHH THATS THE BEST IVE DONE SO FAR!" Lo'ak cheered gesturing to the many arrows that lay on the floor next to his target.
"I know! Well done!" You exclaimed, happy for your friend. Lo'ak then handed the bow and arrow to you so you could have a turn. You grabbed the bow and arrow before raising an eyebrow at Lo'ak basically telling him to watch the pro. Straightening your back you fired the arrow and landing it right in the middle of the target, perfectly. It wasn't new to you it was like blinking, so natural and easy but it always fascinated others like Lo'ak. "How do you do that, it's so cool." He chimed adoring how talented you were in the skill. Before you could answer him with some fake balloon headed joke Neteyams voice was heard.
"Because it is easy." You both turned your heads to look at him, anger slowly but surely coming over you. You shoved the bow back into Lo'aks chest. "Neteyam do you think you could do better?" Lo'ak asked recovering from the small stumbled you caused to him, he loved to tease his older brother. "With my eyes closed." You scoffed at his ridiculousness before walking over to the arrows that Lo'ak had tragically used in his small practice. This angered neteyam, Why doesn't she believe me? he thought. He picked up the bow which you had given back to Lo'ak and another arrow as he then took once glance at the target before closing his eyes, inhaling a deep breath and firing the arrow. The sound of the small crack of wood could be heard. You looked up to see the arrow neteyam had just fired between the arrow you had shot. Splitting the thin wood in half. Your heart jumped a little before you continued to make your way over to the scattered arrows, picking them all up and then pulling neteyams arrow out of the tree adding it to the bunch in your hand. Walking towards the two boys neteyams eyes landed on the swaying of your hips and the new necklace upon your neck. You shoved the arrows into Lo'aks chest again telling him you'll meet him after dinner not even paying any attention to Neteyam and his little performance. The frustration in his stomach boiled, That was a absolute perfect shot so why didn't you say anything, why didn't you notice him you didn't appreciate anything good. Those were the thoughts that ran through neteyams head before being brought back by his brother. "Neteyam, Yo neteyam! we gotta get going it's eclipse soon." Lo'ak said as he hit softly hit neteyams chest.
The older boy said nothing as they both turned around and headed home to where Lo'ak would exaggerate on how good his session with you went to his parents.
"Fuck" aside from the occasional cusses the only thing that could be heard from behind the tree trunk was neteyams heavy breath and the slick sound of his hand rubbing up and down on his length intertwined with his spit. Your purple loincloth and top with blue feathers harboured in Neteyams mind. How you spoke to him telling him to get off you, Oh he was getting off on you alright. As his hand did it's job your face finally settled in his mind, everything he wanted to do to you, not another girl just you. How pretty you would look with your soft lips around his cock and shoving it down your throat finally shutting you and that bratty mouth up. He mentally cursed himself for thinking about you in this way. With a few final strokes neteyams breath hitched as long strings of white gummy cum shot out of his tip coating his tired hand. He continued pumping his cock riding out his orgasm as your shrewd up versions of your name emerged from his lips, The full version, Shortened versions he'd made up or just cuss words. Once he finished frustration took over, It shouldn't be you he thought about, why was it you? what was wrong with him? Question after question he thought about as he washed himself on the lake in front of him.

alternate universe in which skora reunites with TAP kids, they start the sarentu clan anew, and he becomes tsahik (because if anyone should be olo’eyktan, it should be ri’nela or the unnamed protagonist of afop)
