A/N: Before we get into it, these headcanons are a bit all over the place. This is my first time writing headcanons for a character. So I apologize if I am jumping back and forth and it doesn't feel like it's focused on one thing. Also, there are NSFW ones.

--And I think she's experienced enough loss that she comes off as cold, but is just wishing that she doesn't have to go through with losing another person that she could have potentially saved

--So whenever you come aboard and into her life, she can seem a bit off putting and cold

--Athos (love little Athos) can kind of take on that side of Olivia when it comes to people

--So Athos can also be seen as a cold and harsh Palico

--But the minute Athos lays her eyes on you, it's all over

I slowly blinked my eyes open to find Olivia asleep beneath me. The two of us had fallen asleep together in my tent last night after our most recent hunt was a success. The team celebrated last night and one thing led to another and I ended up pretty hammered. The last thing I remember was Olivia pulling me into my tent and I tripped over my own two feet. Olivia's eyes slowly opened up and she found my half-lidded eyes. She chuckled as she cupped my face in her calloused hands.

"Morning, sleepy head," she mumbled in her low morning voice.

A shiver was sent down my spine as her morning voice stirred something within me.

"Morning," I mumbled.

She leaned towards me and pressed a kiss to my forehead.

"Feeling ok?"

"Sore," I said.

"Good thing we can rest today. Is there anything you'd like to do?"

"Just be here with you, Liv."

She chuckled and shook her head slightly. I knew she wasn't entirely fond of me shortening her name, but she secretly enjoyed it when we were alone together. Heaven forbid I say it in front of the team. She'd be mortified and the entire team would probably bug her about it, but she might put a stop to it very early. I wouldn't dare try to it, though.

"Sorry. Do you not want me to call you that?"

She ran her hand gently through my hair and shook her head, "No. I don't mind you calling me that."

"I know, but do you want me to stop calling you that?"

"No. I've come to enjoy it. I just ask one thing."

"What is it?"

"I know you're trying your best when we're out there, but do try to keep it behind closed doors. I do notice you catch yourself before it slips out."

I nodded, "Of course. I was just thinking about that."

"About accidentally calling me 'Liv' in front of the others?"

"Yeah. How they might tease us, especially you."

"If they do, I'll shut them up real quick."

"I know," I said and snuggled into her neck.

She took in a deep breath and settled back into the bed, drifting off back to sleep. I was about to as well, but the voices outside the tent were getting worrisome.

"Have you seen Olivia anywhere?"

"No, I haven't. Have you checked her tent?"

"I did. She wasn't there. She wasn't with the others either."

"You don't think she left the camp without telling anyone?"

"If she would have told anyone, it might be Erik or Y/N."

"Those two have been getting along pretty well lately."

"Who? Y/N and Olivia? Or Y/N and Erik?"

"Y/N and Olivia. Do you think there is something going on between the two of them?"

"Bit of an odd question. I don't think so. Olivia is more professional than that. There is a lot on the line when it comes to being a hunter, and worrying about another person is not on her priority list."

"Don't say such things. She makes sure the team is safe and are OK once missions are finished. She does care about people."

"Think of it this way: if her and Y/N are a thing, that is one brutal wound if she doesn't make it out of a hunt alive. That goes for both of them."

"I guess when you put it like that it makes sense."

"Like put yourself in that situation where your partner is a monster hunter, you're hunting monsters, and either one of you die. That guilt would be weighing down until the last breath of life is taken."

The voices grew distant as they walked away. What if they were right? With Olivia being the leader of the unit, she has a lot on her plate and a weight on her shoulders. I am just adding to it. I slowly got up and walked out of the tent. I walked towards the closest body of water and sat down. My fingers dipped into the cool water and the stream parted around my fingers. Water was so interesting. It always kept moving no matter what happened to it. If there was a rock in the center, it moved around it. Eventually, it would erode to where the rock was no longer an issue. If there was a blockade, it would still move, just not the same way as before. And if the formation of the water changed, it would go with the flow. Nothing could be like water: so flexible, always adapting.

I stood up and headed back to the base camp. Others were milling about and getting some things done. Some of the Palicos from the support unit were getting meals cooked and prepped for the hunter. Gemma was making who knows what and Alma was with the hunter. I sat down by the small campfire that was starting to burn out. I grabbed a few nearby sticks to try and help keep it alive. Even though the sun was high in the sky, where we were setup for camp was cool and frigid.

"There you are," Olivia came over and sat down beside me.

"S-Sorry for just walking out of the tent. I was getting a bit cramped," I chuckled.

"Not a problem. Besides, I fell back asleep for a little bit."

I was about to tell her what I overheard, but the other members from the team came over.

"There you are, Olivia. We were looking for you."

"I was just getting some rest," she said.

"We checked your tent. You weren't in there."

"It was outside the base camp. It was a bit of a walk to get back here."

I could tell the one was suspicious of something because they turned to where my tent was. They must have seen her come from my tent and over to me.

"T-Then why were you in Y/N's tent?" they asked.

"I was looking for her and couldn't find her in there," she said.

They seemed to take that answer, but they didn't fully accept it. They still eyed between my tent and Olivia. Sometimes they would even dart their eyes between Olivia and I and then back to the tent. They knew, but they weren't going to say anything because a smile crawled onto their lips. They said goodbye to Olivia and I before heading off to a different area in the camp.

"Do you think they know?" Olivia asked me once they left.

"Probably."

"I just hope they don't tell the entire camp."

"I guess we'll just have to see," I said.
