Life changes fast, sometimes faster than we wish it would. For Olivia, it felt like one day Rafael Barba was the best friend she had, the next they were arguing over different ideals and she was actively ignoring his calls. The case on Richard Wheatley had really torn a rift between the two, one that Olivia was not exactly sure how to come back from; one she had not yet coped from. While Rafael tried to clear the air that he was protecting her, Olivia had not let herself see it that way.

However, the tables turned when she reached out to Rafael and he was the one that took a turn not to answer. While their relationship had been strained, he had always picked up the phone anyway. Something she had been secretly grateful for, even though she knew she should have made that known. Meaning four ignored calls later, Olivia had not only called his secretary, she had resolved to pay a visit to his office in person.

With the secretary not at the desk, Olivia walked back towards Rafael’s office, like she would have in the better days of their friendship. She was first caught off guard by the stack of boxes by the door, before she spotted him seemingly packing. “Barba?” Her voice cutting through the silence in the room. “What’s going on?” She didn’t want to jump to conclusions, but this sort of packing didn’t look like he was simply moving offices.

A hand is extended towards the other officer and she grins courteously at the affirmation of the other woman's identity. "Good to hear I've been expected," Benson relates wishing this visit to the sunny west coast could be for leisure instead of work. "Your Captain speaks very highly of you." This, of course, leaves Benson with a favorable outlook.

"There's a dangerous perp of ours that we believe has fled down here from Manhatten. He goes by the name Estivez Gordan. He's already kidnapped and tortured twenty-four victims. Four of them have since died." But that's not the entire reason for her visit. No. The true purpose stems much deeper.

"Manhatten's SVU has reason to believe-" Benson pauses with a breath of hesitation, "that your daughter's been communicating with him on a dating site." Olivia knows this won't be easy for a devoted mother and officer of the law to hear. "We believe he's now using Gerald Akerman as his alias. Claims to be twenty-seven and a college athlete and a student of law." Benson produces a phone and pulls up a profile under the name May Grant. Inhaling slowly, she prods. "Is -- is this your daughter? And have you seen here with this man before?" He's burly, taller than average with eyes of green and grey.

Liv walked with Casey out of the precinct.

The coffee shop was their usual, frequented by nypd, court officers, lawyers.

Liv looked at Casey. “You know when we interview people and they say ‘this was a mistake..’ well, I can feel why.”

Liv walked into the court room, she sat down on the bench and glanced across the room only to see Casey Novak. Her eyes widened slightly and she smiled.

The case , unfortunately, went to mistrial with the jury unable to reach a decision.

"Hey! Casey!" Liv called after her once they left the courtroom.

It had been a few weeks since the engagement.

A lazy Saturday morning with the rare day off that fell in sync, was idyllic.

Noah was still fast asleep.

Liv giggled and untangled herself from Casey and the bedsheets. “Mmm, you’re so good, and I could spend all day in here with you..but..” she was cut off by her phone ringing. She rolled her eyes as she picked it up.

“Benson..shit..no, no it’s -it’s ok.” She set her phone down and looked at Casey apologetically, “I..gotta go to work.” She kissed her and went to get dressed.
