ID under cut:
My textbook says
the first thing to form is the mouth.
We show we’re alive by crying:
the mouth remembers
there is someone to care for us.
With all the love put into me
I would be foolish
not to ache for it.
My body tells me
I wasn’t made
to be alone.
How good we are
at holding each other.
Have you eaten yet, have you eaten yet?

Laika and Joan of Arc
Don’t you want to save everyone?
Fix the world, light up hope with the ashes of your silly being?
Martyrdom is such a pretty word, they will put it in books and poems right next to your name, one-way ticket to sainthood – do you really think you could fill your life with anything better if you got to live to gray hair and quiet evenings?
Writing your own story, why, you would bore the world to death.
If stories are the stuff of the world, worth more than their weight in bones, here’s one more:
somewhere on the moon, or between the old stars where fate got all tangled up, there’s a human and a dog.
Nothing saintly, just two beings existing, playing fetch in nothing at all.
I venture you remember their names, the one sent to war and the one sent to space, ash for the ink of the history books.
I’m not sure they remember. Names matter far less than most like to think. I read somewhere that black holes sing. In this story, they sing for these two. Let this lie be.
A dog is chasing the tail of a comet, her human running after her, the whole world humming a gentle tune.
They won’t paint them in an icon. I suspect they do not mind.

poem requests
"Moon can't shine on it's own" but give sun zero credit
Hello! This is my first time writing a poem upon request, so please excuse any and all artistic liberties I've taken, including the fact that I don't actually know how poems work. Without further ado, here is the thing:
The Moon Isn't Perfect
The moon isn’t perfect, they say,
there are marks on her face,
signs of battles fought and lost.
So what? Perfection is a state
of no dreams and no gambles.
Perfection is death in a pretty dress.
-
The moon isn’t perfect, they say,
Her light is dim and sparse,
She cannot fight the darkness.
Why fight it?
Fear of the unknown
is a frigid, wicked thing.
I do not hate what I do not understand,
and neither does she.
-
The moon isn't perfect, they say,
her life isn't her own,
dictated by planets and stars,
by any and every little thing.
Oh, but that is the beauty of her:
she does not feign omnipotence,
she does not outshine the stars.
She is not unique in the sense
that she is not alone:
And isn't it a feat,
isn't it a miracle,
to not be alone
in this universe of ours?

Winnie-the-Pooh Lived Under the Name
Hello people of the internet, here's a vent poem that is not proofread at all. Enjoy!
TW: transphobia mention.
Winnie-the-Pooh lived under the name
Sanders.
Pooh wasn’t Sanders.
It’s a concept
every kid understood,
and yet,
here I am,
living under a name that isn't mine,
the laws that would allow me not to
pushed aside with statements like
how do I explain it if my daughter asks,
it’s just not appropriate,
think of the children,
think of the children,
think of the children.
-
Winnie-the-Pooh lived under the name
Sanders,
and Bugs Bunny wore high heels
because he liked to,
and you laughed,
when you were little,
because the stories were
alive and funny and
as innocent as any other.
-
My tale isn’t gruesome,
I am not something
to be hidden behind 18+ restrictions.
-
I am a person.
Once,
I was a child,
a child the nature of whom
was an "adult topic",
and so I didn’t know
a thing about myself.
-
Winnie-the-Pooh lived under the name
Sanders.
Pooh wasn’t Sanders.
I am not Sanders.
I wish some people would understand as much now
as when they were kids.

I've been around writeblr for a few months now and never really made a proper intro, so here it is, something of an intro/re-intro mixture.
About me:
Hi, I'm Oleg! 17, they/them, ace. The rest I'm still trying to figure out myself. My native language is Russian, but I mostly write in English. Dog person. Cat person. Obsessed with learning languages. I try to be funny a lot more than my sense of humor can allow me.
About my writing:
I frequently write and post short stories, sometimes poetry, and I'm currently working on three bigger projects. I normally write fantasy and/or sci-fi, always with a touch of comedy. I love cosmic horror and I'm trying to explore the comedy-horror genre, even though I lean heavily into comedy.
My current projects:
Just Your Typical Fantasy Story is my main WIP. It's a fantasy/comedy/adventure that focuses on the adventures of Mary Chang, or Mary Sue, as she's called, as she becomes the Chosen One and has to defeat a Dark Empire. Heavily sarcastic. A lot of subverted tropes and subversion of expectations.
WIP Intro here
The Foolish, Foolish Stars is a fantasy/comedy/sci-fi story about Irik, a court jester, that has been abducted by aliens to rule an intergalactic empire, and Magician, their friend that's finding her way to space to rescue them. Ft. dragons, space pirates, and a lot of tomfooleries.
Masterpost here
An Inn at the Very End is a short sci-fi story about a mysterious place at the very edge of the universe and an Innkeeper who is trying to understand themself, their work, and their origin.
WIP Intro here
Sidelined projects:
A Tale of Daggers and Cupcakes is a fantasy/coming-of-age/adventure/romance/dark comedy retelling of the events in the life of Shikimalut, a female assassin from a culture where only women are allowed to kill. Set in the same world as JYTFS.
WIP Intro here
Cozy Little Horrors is my attempt at the comedy-horror genre, a rural fantasy that is slowly becoming the story of a vampire couple running a magical academy, with a side of tea parties, Eldritch Gods, and student loans.
Masterpost here
What to expect from my writeblr:
Original writing (sometimes), writing advice (mostly reblogs, but sometimes original), lots of worldbuilding/conlanging-related posts, and of course, writing memes.
Feel free to tag me for tag games and your writing, I'll try my best to respond and check out your work!
