రామాయణంతో నిండిన నది? బాలిలో కనిపించిన అసాధ్యమైన శిల్పాలు!

Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameshwaram 🛕 is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva located on Rameswaram island in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is also one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples

The temple itself was built by rulers since the 12th century with Sethupathy Maravar beginning the construction of the grand Ramanathaswamy temple that boasts of the ‘Third Corridor’, completed by his successor, Maravar – the longest one in Asia with a 197-metre span from East to West and a 133-metre span from South to North.

The main idol of Goddess Mahalakshmi in the temple is believed to be self-manifested. According to local historians, in the early 1900s, a villager named Abbayya came into possession of this idol. He worshipped the idol at home and was blessed with wealth and prosperity. His home soon came to be known as Lakshmi Nivas in honor of his charity work. Abbayya brother’s Thotadappa also worked alongside Abbayya and worshipped the Goddess Mahalakshmi. One night the Goddess visited him in his dreams and asked him to build her a temple. Thus Thotadappa built a temple for the Goddess and began worshipping the idol in this shrine. After Thotadappa’s death, Chowdavya began performing the poojas for Goddess Mahalakshmi. Little is known about what happened next but for fifteen years between 1910 and 1925, the temple was abandoned. In 1925, a pious devotee, Kamalamma arrived in Goravanahalli and found the temple in a deserted state. She brought the temple back to life and started performing poojas once again for the Goddess but for some reason, left the place after a year. It was around 26 years before she came back to the Temple and re-established it in 1952. One of the most interesting carving incame across is this of a jester. Never i've seen a jester being carved in a temple premises, that to dedicated to lord shiva. I tried to study and ask the local pujari, but they had no answer. @praveenet.. Can you please share your thoughts, throw some light on this unique carving in the temple. Ancient temples were a place of knowledge. The ancient builders left a lot of carvings for the generations to follow, so that we can understand the ancient history. Unfortunately a lot of temples in our country were destroyed by the mughals. The temple was built by king Karikala Chola in 2nd century CE, thus making this one of the oldest temple in the state and even India. During the rule of Raja Raja Chola I, 'Artha Mahal' and 'Maha Mahal' were constructed.Additional offerings from the Chola king were made on a regular basis and were noted on the walls of the temple. I personally take a lot of time to explore the intricate carvings in any ancient temples. I found a few here which made me ecstatic. Ancient builders showed how birds, crabs snakes.. Mahadev Temple, Deobaloda. 🙏Location: Deobaloda, Bhilai, Durg, Chattisgarh. 🙏Deity: Lord Shiva. 🙏Idol: Shiva Linga of about 1.5 feet in height, which is approached through a highly ornate door entrance guarded by Shaiva Dvarapalas. The idols of Goddess Parvati, Ganesha and Hanuman can be found inside the sanctum. 🙏Construction era: 13th CCE. 🙏Built by: Kalchuris. 🙏Architect: The tower over the sanctum of Shikhar style temple is missing. The temple is constructed by using sand stone. 🙏Legend: It is said that this temple was built in just 6 months and that is why it is also called 'Chha Maashi' (chha means six and Maasi, in English - Months) temple. 🙏Beliefs: a) There is an interesting myth about a pond near this temple, which is believed to have an underground link leading to another town of Chhattisgarh, known as Arang. b) There is an ancient pool near the temple, whose water never dries up. Devotees worship Shiva with the water of the tank.It is believed that by simply bathing with the water of this holy pool can destroy all diseases. There is practice of Spraying this water for the purification of the house. c) The temple is not less than a wonder. The temple is without dome, the Swabhu Shivalinga has brown colour, the never-drying pool, the tunnel from the pool to the Arang. It is said that this temple was built by one person in six months. d) The temple is constructed with sandstone.
