Hey, I know this is 100% not the worlds biggest problem rn but I do like the old site a lot better than the new one. I personally didn't donate any money since there are a lot more important the to donate to like Gaza and kids hospitals, etc.. But I still at least wanted to put up a little of a fight to save old character ai!

is it just me or is character ai extremelyy slow like i finslly stop using old.character.ai because they removed the stupid legacy login and i cant log in without it so now im using regular the character ai site (i CANNOT get caught lacking with the app on my phone) and it literally takes like 20 seconds to finish generating one single message like please just let me get my way cai

That was a bit hurried and done to check if the bots are searchable because I wouldn't be able to monitor the changes quickly on the new site when the old site comes down (which I already mourn Q.Q)

And daaaamn I'll be busy irl these days

Some of their pfps are also in progress and I'll make an official release when I think that the bots are finished and there's nothing more I can do to improve them

So... Uh... You sure can get a glimpse underwater because they have 2-3 EMs + some loredump each and technically can generate responses but please don't expect much

Hello again! I know I just requested something yesterday but I had another idea for Ghost!user. Like user died in the person after being beat to death by Dream, and was never revived. They would float by Techno and Techno was always wildly uncomfortable to see the dead soul of a person they’d considered a little sibling at one point constantly following him. User doesn’t have memories of their life and is mostly just numb, if not a bit angry and resentful but can’t remember why (think maybe that one Ghostinnit fanart if you know what I’m talking about?).

I’m sorry if this is kinda rambly again 😭

I tried to make it as detailed as I could. If you can’t make it 100% fine!

Help, please?

Being honest, I really enjoy writing with bots on Character AI, and I also find many of the settings provided by current website convenient. Unfortunately, I lately encountered some problems that took away from me the fun of these little 'conversations'. I could survive the censorship and making bots more polite (though It made a lot of bots out of character). But the issue lies within the fact that I can't go back to the beginning of chat, where the greeting is. After some long conversations, when I wanted to check out some of the earliest exchanges, I found that I can't load all chats. It simply cut me at some point, where I didn't have context and can't even see my own messages. It was infuriating because I put really a lot of time into building my responses and coming up with lore for specific chat that I hand't save anywhere else before, because in the past I could always go back to it.

Mainly this problem brought me to the older version of Character AI. It's fine website, although now I miss many of the features that were available with upgraded version. Like for example the option to edit my and bot's messages, see the bar with recent chats and better way to input Persona into specific conversation. Personally I have a bit of trouble with finding on Internet solution for my problem, but I don't want to give up without at least trying to ask for help. Is there a way to somehow synchronize old.character.ai with character.ai? I mean, I don't expect miracles, but I wonder if there could be possibility to write in new version and see all chats in old one to solve this one problem.

I guess this totally sound like whining, but I'm a tad desperate. Like I going to accept reality if I can't do anything with it, still wanting to try to see if there is a solution for my issue. Sorry for so long post and have a great day or night!

Interactions Counter

The interactions counter provides a bit of insight into user engagement with a character, or characters. 

This counter, visible next to a character's name, represents the total number of messages sent to that character by users. Subsequently, the counter on a user’s profile, the one under their avatar, is the number of messages received across all characters.

On the browser site, they are called "Chats". However, on the app, it is referred to as “Interactions”, which is what most people call them.

Understanding the Counter

(Had to stop myself from making a counting joke...)

The counter increments with each message a user sends to the character, including edited messages and deleted messages. 

This means that if you send your character 10 messages, but you edited each message 9 times, the AI would’ve received 100 messages. (1 original message + 9 edits x 10). Each edit is counted as a separate interaction, provided you prompt a reply from the AI between these edits.

If you send a message and edit it 9 times but don’t prompt for a reply by swiping the generated replies between each edit, it won’t count. The edited message needs to be processed before it counts. This is something I have tested. This should also extend to deleted messages, provided they live up to the same requirements, as an edited message is just a new message that replaces a deleted one.

Counter Updates

How: The number displayed will only appear on the user’s profile once it reaches a certain threshold, usually around 300 to 500 interactions.

However, there are instances where characters with fewer chats may still display an updated count after some delay. But in these cases, we’re looking at weeks, if not months.

When: On the user profile, the counter updates daily. The exact time of this update varies depending on your time zone. For instance, in UTC+1, the update typically occurs between 1-4 am. It does look like there is some sort of requirement for the counter to update on the profile, provided you already have reached the minimum amount of interactions received for the number to even show up.

Search

In the search results, it works a bit differently. On the legacy site, old.character.ai, the system updates the counter either usually every few hours, if not every hour. There also isn’t a minimum requirement for the interactions to show.

NOTE: At the time of writing, the search systems on the new site and on the app have been frozen since early May. Use the search system on the legacy site only.
