I have a few ideas if any spark inspiration that'd be so cool!
Old Man Yaoi Creek cooking some breakfast together (Craig is bad at it?)
Old Man Yaoi Creek getting rowdy with Craig's Gang over a Bronco's game? Old Man Tweek being sweet about balding Craig
Craig maybe still being gross as an old man? Tweek might be exasperated?
Romantic dinner date with old man Creek?
Young Craig trying to woo Tweek with a ukulele song on a boat ride in Stark's Pond?
Astronaut Craig and Tweek reunited after a Mars mission?
Old Man Yaoi Creek on a bicycle built for two with a basket full of Stripes?
Old Man Yaoi Creek laying down together on the couch with the same energy as a snow day. Warm and comfortable? Maybe by the fireplace with some hot mochas?
Old Man Craig buttons Old Man Tweek's shirt.
Old Man Yaoi beach episode.
Craig doing something that makes Tweek giggle. Any age.
Old Man Craig shaving Old Man Tweek's face.
Hope these are good enough! I love the work you put out!
Thanks Anon! I choose the Old Man Craig buttons Old Man Tweek's shirt! because i'm lazy!!/j i hope you like it, thanks for all the ideas, maybe someone likes it and try to draw some of them <3

What’s the most surprising smut pairing you’ve written?
Share a DVD commentary on Scripts and Tongues?
Share a smut rec for Maedhros.
thank you so much for the asks! 💖
13. What’s the most surprising smut pairing you’ve written?
I think at this point, Gandalf/Círdan! I told a friend on the phone that I was going to write that pairing a couple months ago and was cackling at her reaction. Otherwise, maybe Daeron/Thingol (and thank you for your support of both of these!) Both are the only smut fics for these ships in their AO3 tags, so I guess I'm happy to feel like they fill some kind of niche!
22. Share a DVD commentary on [one of your smut fic/smutty scene from a longer work]. (Scripts and Tongues, the aforementioned Gandalf/Círdan)
Heheh. So this fic was born of 2 things basically: a past discussion with @searchingforserendipity25 that set up Gandalf/Círdan as A Ship in my mind, ft. beach imagery, and then my preparing to write some things for smut week and having the VISION implanted in my brain of like "sex joke featuring 'I'm missing your STAFF'". And then I thought it'd be charming to have this sexting take place sometime around LotR, in familiar events--I wasn't at first decided when and where, or if it might be like a "throughout FotR" kind of thing, or in Moria, but, I'm rereading LotR quite slowly now on audiobook and so had the episode of Gandalf recounting at Elrond's Council his research in Gondor's library on the brain. Initially, I wasn't settled on that setting/moment but the more I wrote it (and the more innuendos I could work in related to it) I quickly decided I was keeping it. :D I'd thought initially I might write a longer, sexier scene, but realized I liked it as a briefer piece just moving into the sexier part, focused on the part I was most excited to write and share (the sexting).
Also, I'm honestly full of thoughts about them now: in my head there's like a dramatic whole soap opera thing where Gandalf arrives in Middle-earth and is perhaps greeted with a little skepticism from Círdan (who instantly sees he is a Maia and who's already lived thru like the whole First Age, drowning of Turgon's and his own mariners, sinking of Beleriand etc), vs. Evil Rivalmance smooth-talking Love Interest/Ex Saruman, Círdan coming to trust Gandalf and give him Narya as a token of MARRIAGE um trust, becoming snarky yet relied-upon confidants and then naturally boyfriends, Saruman very personal inevitable yet slay betrayal, later angst and hurt/comfort (pain when the osanwe bond is severed as Gandalf 'dies' and returns??), seaside retirement and coming to know Gandalf's Maia form in Valinor after they sail... IDK IDK. There's so much there and I'm coming to have a lot of feelings about Gandalf as a character. I wish I wrote faster and had the motivation to do some kind of 50k longfic old man yaoi for them; I doubt that will happen but I hope you can imagine and experience for yourself the beautiful vision that it would be.
23. Share a smut rec for [character]. (Maedhros)
Oooh okay. I'm going to share just a few of my favs from across time and space...
Maedhros/Maglor:
Do Not Bait Me With Your Laughter by The_First_And_The_Last - SEARINGLY HOT times in Valinor ft. slightly dubcon Maedhros seduction of trans!Maglor. Absolutely formative!!
Hunting Time installment 2 by Divano_Messiah - Yes I did read this via googletranslate which makes some interesting choices, but the sheer poetry of this omegaverse series transcends language and culture. In this fic, Maedhros returns to the family home to realize Celegorm has taken advantage of Maglor, who is his own, and he restakes his claim. Just brilliantly indulgent, and contains the line "Nelyafinwe, are you fucking insane?" from Celegorm that rewired my brain about unhinged Maedhros potential.
No Pearls, No Feathers by dur - For something entirely different, rough and highly charged moments between Maedhros and Maglor in late stage Beleriand. This fic is packed with beautiful, weighty writing that really arrests you, making the reader feel and experience each second of this brief in time, yet SO POWERFULLY CHARGED and sexy scene with its rise and awful fall alongside Maglor. Really breathtaking, and Maglor thinking of Maedhros denting a goblet in his hand won't leave me ever now.
Maedhros/Fingon:
I already recommended Death and Taxes on another one of these asks, but...
Pantië by orphan account - Maedhros/Fingon, past Maedhros/Sauron - to this day the ANGSTIEST Nirnaeth fic to me even though it ends right before the battle itself. Maedhros' intimacy issues. Maedhros' control issues and desperate need to give up control. Sexy angst and manipulation all around, alongside and coexisting with this real, strong undercurrent of loving romance between Russingon.
Exchange of Favors by daphnerunning - this fic series I honestly read before I read the Silmarillion itself and it's meant so much to me, even as I've moved off in some interests! This installment is the sweetest, funniest, most intimate and tenderly charged Elves Roleplaying As Humans (Maedhros as Fingon's mistress). I love it so!
Maedhros/Thingol:
YEAHH babey secret sexiest ship of the book.
Guidance by iddump (and in fact the whole series that goes with this, but this is an incredible, soo sexy bite-sized version) - Thingol edging Maedhros while advising him (mentor to mentee... one lord to another...) on his correspondence.
Maedhros' Good Report Card by @imakemywings - fem!Maedhros as fem!Thingol's younger sugar baby in a modern AU. Being dommed so thoroughly and with such steady affection could probably fix everything wrong with Maedhros. I have to mention this one because fem!Thingol blew my mind this past week and I'm still reeling and recovering.

Dakaichi -I’m Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year!-
A Short Review
——————
Dakaichi, -I’m being harassed by the sexiest man of the year!- is based from the manga Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu, which literally translates into “The Most Huggable Man Has Threatened Me.” This basically sums up the entire plot, which I’ll get into.
Dakaichi is a late-2018 series animated by Japanese animation studio CloverWorks (rebranded from Kōenji Studio), directed by Naoyuki Tatsuwa. The manga was originally written by Hashigo Sakurabi, beginning in 2013, but the anime is written by Yoshimi Narita.
————
The Plot
————
I’ll focus on the first episode.
Dakaichi is mainly focused on Takato Saijou, a 28-year-old actor who has held the position of “The Man I Most Want to Hold Me” for 5 years. Being in the acting business since the age of 8, he has become something of a household name. But in the sixth year, he’s pushed back a spot by Junta Azumaya, a younger, ¼ Spaniard actor who is seen as an angel.
In an upcoming show, Takato is forced to spend time around Junta, who he then realizes he worked with in the previous year. However, when the two get alone… Takato wakes up naked in Junta’s bed?
Junta then shows Takato footage of him paying Takato 1,000 yen in order to call him by his name, and suddenly makes an advance on Takato. Takato runs to the bathroom and tries to lock the door, but a shirtless and sex-hungry Junta dramatically opens it.
I’m going to spare you the details, but in the manga, it’s a lot more… creepy. Junta full on has sex with little to no consent with Takato, no lube, no condom. Nothing. In the anime, it just shortens it down to a kiss and an attempted hickey, but Takato puts a stop to the latter before it can progress.
The show proceeds to show the ups and downs of this new relationship, one that I won’t divulge too much into in this review. I want to keep this simple and short, as to avoid a lot of spoilers and just give a general gist of the show.
————
Closer Look
————
I know I’m making this anime seem very bad, and frankly, it’s not the best— it has some outdated concepts that needs to be left in the past. It’s not for people who want a serious yaoi, which is very rare.
But honestly, there are some… okay things about it. The animation, although odd looking, is alright. The voice acting is pretty decent. Though the animation at times made you confused, it’s said to be better than Junjou Romantica. However, I have not watched that anime so I can’t put my opinion
————
The Good
————
Boy x Boy
They have sex every episode, what more could you ask for?
Well, aside from a few episodes. It’s honestly pretty well censored, which is one of the few good things I can say about the show.
Animation
The animation, although nothing to write home about, isn’t that bad considering this is yaoi at a weird level of fame.
Voice Acting
Surprisingly, the seiyuu did a good job when acting. I have no complaints about it, frankly.
Comedy
The show, although really sexual, can be funny at times. Like, when Takato and Chunta got lost on the beach in Hawaii because the tide rose and covered the trail. Or any scene with Takato’s manager.
The Ending Song
God, this doesn’t even have anything to do with the show. I don’t even know the lyrics, but it’s called Chuntaka and it’s the two seiyuu singing together and it’s some adorable shit. Fuck.
Takato’s Faces
Speaks for itself.
————
The Bad
————
Rapey Themes
Like I said above, Junta rapes Takato in the manga. There is no way to sugar coat this. As for the anime, there are some scenes that make me uncomfortable, such as episode 6.
Thank god, the anime turned the rape into a kiss. And even then…
Animation
Both good and bad, the animation can be a little odd at times. The hatching shading below the chin can be a bit off putting at times, and some transitions personally feel a bit unnatural.
Plot
Frankly, the show definitely focuses on the BL more than the actual plot. Although it can be okay at times, I feel like conflicts get resolved a bit too quickly (such as with the Ayagi arc).
The Kissing
I know this probably ties in with the animation, but it deserves its own category. Is it just me, or when they’re kissing does it look like their lips are having a seizure?
————
Overall
————
Plot - 4.5/10
Animation - 6/10
Voice Acting - 8/10
Writing - 7.5/10
Romance - 5/10
Overall - 6.2
————
Final Thoughts
————
Overall, Dakaichi is just another yaoi. There isn’t anything really special about it, or anything that stands out from other animes of its genre. It has both the good and the bad, the sex and the cute moments.
I’d say it’s not for anyone looking a special show that brings something new to the table. Definitely just a guilty pleasure of a show.
Will I be watching season two?
Out of pure spite, probably yes.
Would I recommend it to a friend?
If that friend is a BL fan who doesn’t give a shit about the morals… sure. If you’re just a normal person who would prefer something like Given?
Hell no.
#my review#review#dakaretai#dakaichi#anime#this is my first review#please do not murder me#this is a pro takato blog#youre either here#or youre straight#i need a better name#so i will probably add another tag another time#that identifies it as#my post#aside from a stupid name#first review

Summer 2019 Anime Season
Here’s what I’m watching:
To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts is an action series that’s basically about the Civil War (but in a fantasy country! So no one gets offended! I guess) being won on the strength of a military unit made up of people who can transform into mythological beasts (think werewolves, sirens, centaurs, etc.). And then those people begin to go mad and start killing for no reason after the war is over, so it’s up to their captain, Hank, to track them all down and put them out of their misery. It’s a pretty cool idea that results in some fun battles (wanna see a werewolf fight a minotaur? Now you can!). There’s also a hefty dose of tragedy, as pretty much all of these “beasts” were once kind and heroic human beings whom Hank viewed as family. I don’t know if the show is trying to make a point about PTSD suffered by former soldiers (I honestly don’t know if the show is that deep), but it can definitely be interpreted that way. The “beasts” still seem very human, even when they look like complete monsters. The art is nice, with some cool creature designs. I was initially annoyed by a certain female character’s design, as she has hilariously enormous boobs (they literally look like two giant beach balls glued to her chest) and she likes to wear low cut tops and mini-skirts as her “military uniform”. It was just so completely absurd. But she turned out to be an interesting character with a fun personality, not at all the “seductive temptress” type I was expecting. Also, right when I was thinking how annoyed I was with the fanservice surrounding this character, I realized that sexy, buff Hank was standing there in the same shot, shirtless. And he comes out of his shirt very often. So yeah, I can forgive the giant boobs chick as long as we have hot shirtless Hank.
Given is a beautiful, emotionally powerful yet subtle series about boys in a band. Most of the main characters are gay, bi (maybe pan?) or otherwise queer, but I hesitate to lump it into the yaoi category and leave it at that. To me, for a series to be called yaoi, I’ve always felt that it had to focus on the male/male relationships, which is why I consider Yuri on Ice a sports anime, not yaoi, and No. 6 a sci-fi drama, not yaoi, and so on. But Given really does focus on those relationships, yet it still feels very far removed from other anime in the genre, like World’s Greatest First Love and Love Stage. For one thing, the relationships feel totally natural and realistic, not at all like the stylized, often rapey relationships that so often plague the genre. Given is subtle, as I mentioned before. For the first several episodes, you’d have no idea any of the characters are queer if you hadn’t heard about it beforehand. Because Given builds a complicated story with real emotional intensity and complex relationships rather than beating us over the head with fanservice. The art is top notch, with varied, interesting character designs and a soft, warm color palette. As expected of a series about a rock band, the music is excellent, with my favorite opening theme of the season. Given can be a bit quiet, a bit slow-paced, but the painfully honest portrayals of love, infatuation, and loss are so universal and so well written that you can’t possibly be bored.
Dr. Stone is my favorite anime of the season, simply because it’s a fresh concept that I haven’t already seen a hundred times in anime. The basic premise is that one day, out of nowhere, a bright light fills the sky and every human being is immediately turned to stone, with most of them remaining conscious (at least for a while). It sounds horrific, actually. Nearly four thousand years later, our protagonists break free from their stone shells and find the earth reclaimed by nature, taking on a prehistoric look. One of those protagonists is Senku, a scientific genius who decides he’s going to restart civilization and bring technology back to the world. What makes Senku interesting is that, instead of being a cold, stoic sort of genius (the usual kind we get in anime), he’s actually a kind and funny guy (if a bit sarcastic and snarky) who cares deeply about his friends and genuinely wants to save the human race. This makes him a character you want to root for. The villain Tsukasa, a cunning and intelligent man who nevertheless relies on his physical strength to dominate his enemies (he killed a lion with his bare hands minutes after being revived from stone), is also compelling. The show also has interesting and varied lady characters, like the crafty and sweet Yuzuriha and the agile “lioness” Kohaku. The art isn’t a style I’m generally crazy about, but it does the job well, capturing a wild and fascinating world. The music is also great, with amazing opening and ending themes. Dr. Stone doesn’t shy away from things like murder and violence, but overall it’s a celebration of the accomplishments of mankind and the curiosity that drives all innovation.
The list is very short this season, and that’s mainly because I’ve had little patience for shows that just don’t keep me hooked. I’ve dropped three shows this season that I was pretty far into. One was “If It’s For my Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord”, about an adventurer in a fantasy world finding, and then adopting, a small orphan girl. I was very much enjoying this sweet, adorable series about their father/daughter bond. But since it’s based on a light novel series (light novels are often a cesspool of creepy male wish-fulfillment fantasy), you can probably guess what the “plot twist” I heard about was that made me drop the show like a hot potato, seven episodes in. There was also “Fire Force”, which had one of the most engaging and badass opening sequences in a first episode I’ve seen in years. I was all pumped up to love this series. Until I realized that literally every single named female character is there exclusively to be sexy and provide fanservice. How do you know an author has no idea how to write female characters? They rely on fanservice, because that’s the only way they can think of to make those characters likable to the young male audience the story is aimed at. Honestly, the protagonist can only accidentally stumble into so many “sexy situations” before it gets very, very tiresome for any viewer that’s not a twelve year old boy.
Carry Over Shows From Previous Seasons: Black Clover Diamond no Ace Kimetsu no Yaiba
Best of Season: Best New Show: Dr. Stone Best Opening Theme: Given Best Ending Theme: Black Clover Best New Male Character: Senku (Dr. Stone) Best New Female Character: Kohaku (Dr. Stone)

Man, god, im just suddenly thinking about "ak/ur/oku" and like.. How the fuck did that even become such a huge thing in early 2000s fandom? Dear god so much early gay shipping in fandom was super unhealthy "sinful" bullshit made by straight people for fetishy purposes rather than genuine representation. But a/kurok/u was such a weird one because it was like.. Just globally accepted and never aknowledged to be problematic?? Man i still remember how lil 13 year old me didnt know there was anything wrong with it, like seriously when stuff like this becomes popularized it ends up sending bad messages to actual queer youth. Learning about your sexuality via the internet cos there's no sex ed irl for you, abd you end up stumbling into toxic fandoms before you have the critical thinking skills necessary to know that this stuff is bad and shouldnt be imitated. Like seriously one of the things i worry about EVERY NIGHT AT 2AM THAT KEEPS ME FROM SLEEPING is that stupid lil 15 year old me made a post on deviantart going like "are pedophiles really all bad? I mean it sounds like an illness. I mean maybe theyre just scared and they want help." Like im terrified constantly that someone will find that old thing and judge me as if i still believe that apologist crap, or as if it was actually an opinion i formed from a fully developed mind, rather than from a kid who (as far as i knew) had never met a pedophile, thinking about pedophiles in the abstract, while being influenced by fuckin pedophile-dominated fandoms and having NO IDEA. and of cooooourse i wanted to believe that i was mature for my age, i thought that was a compliment.. Uuuuugh...
Sorry, going a little offtopic there.
But anyway isnt it kinda weird how akur/oku was just.. Not even regarded as pedophilia? And when i was a kid it wasnt just me not understanding the gross parts of the fandom, i legit never thought axel was that much older than roxas. And it was one of the more popular gay ships cos at that point as far as we knew it was the only person axel had any sort of backstory with, and he cared so much about this guy that he was willing to sacrifice his life to help sora even when he knew roxas would never come back. At the time without further context it seemed like a reasonable assumption to make? And it wasnt until Days that i realized axel was intended to be an adult rather than a teenager, and even worse A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO MADE THAT SHIPPING ART KNEW THAT. Uuugh it was so gross in retrospect to go back and see all the clues i missed that these people were fetishizing roxas's inexperience and veey much writing him as underage. AAAAAAA!
Anyway im glad that shit is now recognized as shit and now we have canon evidence of this dude being old as balls. And honestly i love the relationship of him as a big brother/dad to roxas and xion a lot more, even though as a kid i was desperate for any kind of queer representation in kh. Like.. I never really actually liked the ship that much or felt any chemistry? I just latched onto a few bad writing flubs that could potentially be interpreted as Gay Evidence because i was SO damn desperate! Like i felt like i had to support all these gross abusive ships in fandom cos if i wasnt then i was being 'homophobic', i mean they were THE ONLY AVAILABLE OPTIONS, right? :( Its only now ive grown up i can see how wrong that was, and how people just used it as an excuse to make gross shit and get away with it. Like how in Black Butler all these 'yaoi fangirls' kept erasing the rarest of rare things, a canon trans woman, because 'its sexier if its gay'. Ughhhh. And seriously that discourse still exists for poor Grell, and there's still a lot of these shitty bigoted people pretending to be allies, but like seriously this was EVERYWHERE in 2005! And lgbt rights and even lgbt communities at all were way smaller and less available to the poor teenagers who really needed that positive influence while they were figuring out who they are. So man the abusive side of yaoi fandom was WAY more powerful, and wya more.mainstream, with barely any criticism. And the whole content of this fandom was creepy fuckin adults making pedo porn, and kids who just discovered they were queer and tried to headcanon their favourote characters as being like them. Fucking predator heaven! So yeh that ruined KH for me and definately made me scared of returning to Black Butler for almost a decade. And then i found out that the manga itself has none of that pedo shit and that one of the fandom's biggest abusive gay man archetypes was actually a trans woman this entire time, and just gahhhhh....
Also like seriously this is a tad offtopic but can we kill the anime trope of either everyone looking young or everyone looking old? Or creepy things where just one character looks the wrong age in order to fetishize pedophilia? I dont think kingdom hearts was one of those intentional ones, like i mean there's super bad shit where its like 'this 5 year old looking person is really 9000 years old/actually 18 and just hasnt had their growth spurt yet' (somehow its even more insulting when theres not even a magical excuse) Or the other way around and we have a character thats canonically underage but drawn looking sexually mature with big ol knockers so its somehow okay. The existence of those horrible things is why i end up feeling uncomfortable even seeing ambiguous ages as just a trope in completely innocent anime, yknow? Like in pokemon and digimon all the 10 year old protagonists are exactly the same height as all the adults, and all the female love interests for ash have to be early bloomers in terms of chest and hips, while notably Iris is the only one who actually looks her age and also the first non love interest. Its another reason why i prefer the new art style for the latest season, they make everyone look like kids and Lillie continues to look like a kid even though she's the main girl and has all the cute scenes with Ash. The girls even got very normal looking kiddy swimsuits in the beach episode! Why is that so uncommon, to find the bare minimum thing of underage kids not being sexualized at the beach??
Soooooo yeah, thats at least part of why kid me thought axel and roxas were within a similar age range. Like i thought roxas was maybe 16 and axel was 18?? Somehow?? I dont even know, kingdom hearts isnt even SUPER bad with the 'kids look like older teens, all adults look like age 20 at the most' anime syndrome. Its probably more because id been raised on games and anime that followed that trope, before i played kh. And as a kid you just dont really know the exact differences between 'old', like i mean i knew teenagers were tall and boys get a growth spurt, so somehow it made sense to me that axel could be the same age as roxas?? And man even if i knew he wasnt, i was barely educated at all about pedophilia and i didnt know the nuances of it. I just knew 'its bad for adults to marry kids' like man i was really behind the curve in general learning due to my undiagnosed autism and abusive parenting so like HERE'S 12 YEAR OLD ME NOT EVEN THINKING ABOUT THE SEX ASPECT. And i didnt know that adults in relationships with teenagers was bad too, or like 16/17 year old teens dating kids... I was so fuckin dumb... I really cant believe that not only did i believe stupid adults saying 'pedophilia isnt bad if you're non offending, its okay to make cartoon child porn as long as you dont physically abuse real kids' but also i somehow just DID NOT EVER REALIZE that axel was an adult and roxas wasnt even a goddamn older teen...
So yeh im making a lot of excuses for why my stupid younger self was blindly parroting bullshit, but im not trying to excuse how goddamn wrong and bad it was. I still wake up ashamed in the middle of the night for crapoy decisions i made as a dumb kid, and in terrified that some shreds of it might still exist out there on the internet and maybe someone else could read it?! Gahhhh! Seriously could i have accidentally helped spread that bullshit brainwashing to other kids? And seriously when people say this shit is harmless they just need to look at this, look at how being into problematic yaoi is such a common 'phase' for ACTUAL CHILDREN. Like its not fuckin NATURAL for kids to fall into this stuff, they do it because they dont know any better but the people making the goddamn founding blocks of the fandom are fuckin grown women fetishizing gay men or grown men fetishing lesbians. There's people who do know better who actually conciously decide that a/kurok/u is a good ship while knowing all the goddamn details of what it actually is and exactly what theyre supporting by shipping it. Ughhhhh!
So yeh fuckin Please Stay Safe In Fandom, Kids
And pedophiles have absolutely none of my sympathy, please ignore that goddamn shit i wrote as a little kid being fuckin groomed by a fandom without even knowing it.
This also applies a lot to the rest of LGBT+ aside from just gay shipping, like seriously it took me til age 18 to find any positive representation of trans people or even a proper explanation of what being trans is, yet before i was even 8 years old i'd seen a million 'lol gross man in a dress who gets sexual gratification from wearing women's underwear' jokes in kids shows. And when i was 12 i'd already been exposed to the fuckin hell of m/pre/g thanks to its prevelance of untagged n/sf/w shit in the kh fandom. And by age 15 i'd been exposed to pedophile apologists arguing whether child porn was okay if they only got off to that and didnt personally abuse that kid with their own hands. All of that shit but actually learning about homosexuality and gender in sex ed would have been 'too much' for someone my age...
God what a fuckin mess. Fuck im really really fuckin worried that any of my ignorant comments at those ages could have been read by other ignorant kids and contributed to that disgusting fandom atmosphere. Fuck i think about this so damn often im so damn ashamed of how ignorant i used to be yet i know the adult fuckfaces making pedo shit never reel one lick of shame any damn day of their life. I used to excuse their shit as an actual kid cos i just ASSUMED they would be ashamed and want to seek help! Gahhhh..

History of YOI fandom
As a YOI fandom grandparent, I felt it was my duty to write out all the fandom explosions for the newer fans who weren’t there to witness the big bang and gradual week-by-week creation of this universe. All the arguments, people blowing things out of proportion, blaming characters, death theories, awesome fans clearing up miscommunications, YOI breaking the internet...
This isn’t a post to call out specific people on their arguments and theories - I’ll stay respectfully away from restarting flames and picking fights, thankyouverymuch. Rather, this is an overview of the topics and conflicting views that swept across hundreds and thousands of people and prompted strong reactions. I’m doing this now, because I know that 6 months later, 1 year later, 3 years later, etc. there will be new fans who will have many of the same exact arguments. We’ve been there and done that. I see fans now who say things without knowing where the spelling/quote comes from, or who don’t realize how much has changed, or don’t know why there are certain perceptions of characters. So here’s a little bit of passing down history.
I also don’t want to forget the crazy ride this was. Laugh with me at the silly theories; smile with me at how deeply YOI has impacted our lives. For those of us old-timers, let’s take a trip down memory lane. Remember when...
---------------- (Large arguments will be italicized or bold. Special thanks to @sachiro for reminding me of a bunch of stuff I missed, and looking over the draft in its various stages of being written and edited.)
Pre-series
Idea that there would be a love triangle (Yuri P.--Yuri K.--Victor)
Some fans started spelling Yuri Katsuki with two “u” in order to tell them apart.
Victuri ship name created for Victor x Yuri K. (in a comment to the PV)
The title
“lol ‘Yuri’ on Ice? Where are all the lesbians?”
“When it said Yuri on Ice, I thought we would get girls. Y’know what I mean?”
“Yuri on Ice? More like Yaoi on Ice! amiright?”
etc.
J.J. misspelling (English spelling “Jean Jack” instead of French Canadian “Jean-Jacques”)
you can see the remnants of this in the audience banners during the episodes, but it was corrected to “Jean-Jacques” on the official website and the in-show text
Phichit x Seung-gil ship created (there was more art for this than for Victor x Yuuri)
Episode 1
Victor vs. Viktor spelling arguments
Although “Victor” is the official spelling and seen in-show, people argued that the creators are wrong and that we fans know better than them about Russian culture - thus the “Viktor” spelling was born.
People argued back that spelling is subjective and you can spell a name multiple ways and still be correct - thus transliterating his Russian name into English as “Victor” would be just as acceptable.
The YOI wiki held fast for a time on using official spellings and information from the official website, but the transition of power led to a new team that started using agreed-upon info rather than solely using official info. “Viktor” replaced “Victor” on the website.
this change from “Victor” to “Viktor” on the wiki happened around episode 2~3, but the arguments were in the page comments since episode 1 -- with moderators explaining their reasoning with sticking to official sources.
Victor is a flirtatious over-the-top character who will seduce Yuuri
Victor is the overwhelming seme and Yuuri is the shy whimpering uke.
People dropping the anime because Yuuri is overweight; people commenting that they don’t want to see an overweight main character
in addition, some people dropping YOI due to feeling that the series was “fat shaming” by using Yuuri’s weight as a point of comedy.
Conversely, some people praising that we have a main character that gains weight and actually has an overweight appearance.
“Japanese Yuri” &“Russian Yuri” or “Yuri K.” &“Yuri P.” were used to differentiate between the two characters since they shared the same official English spelling “Yuri”.
Starting with ep1, “Yuuri” spelled with two “u” became more widespread due to convenience when typing.
Japanese fandom simply used kanji for Yuri Katsuki and katakana for Yuri Plisetsky.
Some fans argue that Yuuri is more correct because in Japanese his name is ゆうり(yu-u-ri). Other fans argue that “Yuri” is still acceptable transliteration because there are multiple spelling systems (Hepburn, etc.) and an alternative correct spelling would be with a macron (Yūri).
Fans point out that Yuri’s name would be spelled “Yuri” in official documents anyway due to lack of macrons on many keyboards.
Spoilers for episodes 1-3 were out because of the two Western fans who witnessed the first three episodes of YOI in a Tokyo preview screening.
fans relied on a certain blogger for info on YOI.
“WHERE DID YOU SEE EPISODES 2&3???” was asked every 5-10 minutes (literally) and became an inside joke with us old-timers.
Yuuri = Yuzuru Hanyu, Victor = Evgeni Plushenko.
Some fans link characters with real-life skaters to encourage anime fans to watch real skating.
Some fans saw these as one-to-one connections without considering that characters are a mix of various real-life skaters, and then went onto YouTube videos and spammed about “real-life Yuuri.”
YOI fans being rude to skaters and sending emails to ship these real-life skaters (emails sent even to skaters who are married with kids)
Amazing researching fans:
find Victor’s apartment and the beach from the ending credits Instagram roll.
Love hotel
Makkachin’s name found in magazine Yuko was holding
speculation starts on what “Makkachin” means and how it should be transliterated (Makkatine, Mocatine, Makkatin, etc.)
Comparisons of Yuuri to the main character from Parasyte due to similar appearances (Tadashi Hiramatsu, the character designer who adapted Kubo-sensei’s initial designs for animating, was the main character designer for Parasyte).
Speculation on the year in-series starts.
Yoyogi for Worlds doesn’t match with Sochi as the GPF location.
Yuuri’s iPhone model is seen as a clue.
“Yuri on Ice” trends for 6 days on Tumblr
Episode 2
Victor is manipulative:
He’s a playboy and flirting all the time
In episode 1 Minako mentions that he is desired by millions.
His wink in episode 1 shows that he casually flirts with fans.
He will break Yuuri’s heart. He came to romance Yuuri, then drop him later.
He’s already pushing into Yuuri’s space with the chin-touching. That MUST mean he’s suave and planning to seduce and drop him.
“Victor calling him ‘piglet’ is so mean!” -- an extension to the fat shaming debate of episode 1.
Yakov’s angry comment to the press = more fodder about Victor being selfish and only there in Hasetsu for his own pleasure.
Victor is horrible because he broke his promise to Yurio x-number of years ago.
All of his happy smiles are a facade and he can’t actually be that nice.
Counterarguments to trust the creators and wait to see more about these characters because it’s only been 2 episodes.
Koibito translation nitpicking (it’s not “girlfriend,” Victor is saying “lover.” It’s a gender-neutral term.)
people calling this queerbaiting
“It can’t get any gayer!” line starts to make its appearance.
Ship name “Victuri” cemented. “Victuri sounds like victory!”
Arguments about spelling it “victuuri,” because of the trend with spelling Yuri K.’s name as Yuuri to differentiate the two Yuri’s.
Counterarguments that “Victurio” would be for Yuri Plisetsky, so therefore “Victuri” would be fine for Yuri Katsuki.
Evgenia Medvedeva starts watching around this time and posts comments on her twitter account.
The livestreaming IRC group is started. There were about 15 people tuning in (this grows to the hundreds by the last episode).
Mira makes her appearance (more of an appearance than the brief flash in ep1). Her name isn’t announced yet so some people nickname her “Natasha” (after the Marvel comics character Natasha Romanova/Black Widow)
Episode 3
Yurio was robbed.
and all the counterarguments against this.
score calculating posts begin to show up.
“Victor is manipulative” evolves into “Victor is evil”
“he didn’t keep his promise to Yurio”
people ignoring that he actually did keep his promise to choreograph a program
Eros story Yuuri tells Nishigori = parallel to how Victor will abandon Yuuri in the end. Victor is the evil playboy, confirmed!
People fighting this with meta about how Yuuri is the seductress keeping the playboy, and this was all Yuuri’s interpretation -- Victor may have had another story in mind and we’ll never know what it was. (<---until episode 10)
He forgot Onsen on Ice was about the competition and was there playing around as Hasetsu ambassador. He doesn’t REALLY care about the two Yuri’s.
“he didn’t notice when Yurio left and was having the time of his life with Yuuri on the podium”
Victor’s super-serious expression when Yuuri hugged him means he doesn’t care.
“Make a man pregnant” - the start of the ABO fic influx
“Katsudon ga daisuki da yo” is how we say “I love you” in YOI.
Boyfriend shirt has taken on a new level: boyfriend costume.
Yuuri and genderfluidity
quite a few fics were spawned from this topic too
YOI is not yaoi - how genre is not the same as tags. Posts clarifying what yaoi actually is and why Yuri on Ice doesn’t fit that genre at all.
Yuuri getting more confident by episode 3 already - initiating hugs and contact with Victor. “How much more gay can we get!? They already said ‘I love you’!”
Fanfic explosion
due to Victor’s character being slightly more fleshed out, and the relationship between characters becoming more established
Top!Yuuri starts to make appearances
Going in blind to the episodes from here-on-out because the fan report from the screening was only through episode 3.
Real life skaters are noticing and posting on social media about YOI.
Evgenia Medvedeva, Denis Ten, Deniss Vasiļjevs & Stéphane Lambiel, Ashley Wagner, Danny O’Shea and many others from here on.
Masterpost soon created to document all these skaters.
Kubo-sensei tweets about episode 4 being her favorite
Episode 4
Victor has cancer/is dying.
He was so dramatic and playful when he joked about balding. That means he’s hiding something. Balding = cancer. Therefore Victor is dying! (Note that cancer doesn’t cause balding, although it’s treatment with chemotherapy does.)
Victor being that out of breath must mean something is wrong.
Victor’s comment about injuries =
he’s hurt but hiding it
we can expect someone to be injured later
Rise of fanfiction featuring Victor with large past injuries he’s kept hidden.
Celestino getting annoyed at Victor = more fodder for Victor being evil.
No coach likes him - that means he must be untrustworthy and there must be something that he’s hiding that we don’t know yet.
The Old Man in the onsen becomes a fandom celebrity for a while (captain of the ship)
Victor’s comment on Yuuri’s stamina = fic fodder
“You meet me where I am” - fans exploding at how meaningful this all is and how far they’ve come in four episodes.
“What do you want me to be to you”
---Victor said “koibito” but subs say “boyfriend”
---Daddy kink: “A father--” “Yes!”
this is when we start to see this kink in fics and fanart/comics
Phichit makes his appearance. Fandom explodes with glee. People pointed out his appearance in episode 1 and more explosions of “no detail left behind”
Aeroflot
Enter Lilia and her teaching Yurio.
Evil Lilia and Yakov
“Yurio should have stayed with Victor”
Kubo-sensei laughs at the rumors of Victor dying.
Everyone and their mother tries to learn to make katsudon - various recipes float around; Crunchyroll releases recipe (Nov 4).
Jokes and critique about YOI dub (Gru!Victor; Russia(Hetalia)!Victor)
Episode 5
Victor obviously knows no Japanese at all vs. Victor obviously knows a little Japanese after living there for 6 months (about whether or not Victor understood Yuuri’s love declaration due to him commenting about the tie and not the confession)
Fan comics/art and fanfiction about burning Yuuri’s necktie
JARAN jacket (that one scene with Yuuri’s jacket misspelled)
Lots of flailing and dozens of gifs of the lip balm scene
awesome fans finding the exact Chanel lip balm
Yuuri’s confident walk = flailing and keyboard smashing moment (gifs with explosions behind him)
Hug meta (back hug; “do the hands on neck mean anything?”)
Minami is a chicken nugget (McDonald’s colors + being small)
First time we hear Victor’s thoughts - people discussing this
Victor’s image shifts away from “evil Victor” towards something a little more positive
Leaks of the Oh! Skatra!!! Tracklisting (Nov 6).
Duetto title makes people freak out
Speculation on who will skate what piece.
Speculation starts on who will appear in which GP series competition.
Pre-episode 6
Jealous/Possessive!Victor due to the ending image in ep5 of him wrapping his arm around a flustered Yuuri.
speculation on where that is and who took the picture
Dengeki, the website that posts teaser pictures and text of various anime’s next episodes, posted a teaser summary on their site that used quite a few innuendos.
Starting from here, YOI episode previews start to be released later and later. This becomes a running gag among fans who stay up to wait for previews.
Episode 6
Chris makes everyone uncomfortable.
wet ice comments
People freaking out about the hand holding (“koibito tsunagi/lover’s hold”) then about the lip licking
Victor’s innuendo and lewd mouth animation
Victor actually is sexually attracted to Yuuri
Paired with Yuuri being comfortable with Victor clinging naked to him at the restaurant, and worrying that people would think he’s not serious about the competition = fans arguing how far they’ve gone
Queerbaiting arguments still continue ( “fujoshi bait” and “fanservice”)
“Ai ha katsu” (Love wins!)
Georgi is an Evil Witch
Leo = awesome representation (non-white character representing the U.S.A.)
Phichit meme ( “scandalized” with hand on mouth)
Phichit is captain of the Victuri ship
Kubo-sensei posts summary of The King and The Skater
Pre episode 7
Dengeki, what in the ever living F is that preview summary (twitter)? Along with the shortened version.
Another preview summary wtheck comment - this time from a YOI animator, Itou Noriko
“Drastic measures”??? Will Victor hug Yuuri? Violence? Harsh words? Kiss on the forehead or MAYBE the cheek?
fanfics, comics, lots of speculation
Episode 7
Kiss vs. Hug
drawings/charts/tracings to prove it was a kiss
queerbaiting comments continue
Western fans ask Kubo-sensei for a direct answer; she’s amused that Japanese fans didn’t need confirmation yet Western fans did
Yuri on Ice trends on Tumblr for two days at #1 (previous episodes had trended in top 3 for about a day).
“Japanese censorship is what made them cover the kiss!” -- and the subsequent posts that stopped this misinformation.
“Victor is evil” continues - he was cruel in the parking garage and the queerbait lip hug was obviously just consolation
Chris, stahp! (more wet ice comments)
Guang-Hong is badass, Leoji ship sails further
Georgi is creepy, some people hate Anya, some feel sympathy for her
Georgi’s outfit = figure-skating Elsa (photoshopped pictures)
Head boop
Aired after the U.S. election - “episode 7 is the only good thing that happened this week”
“YOI singlehandedly saved 2k16”
Watchers dropping the anime because Victuri became canon.
some people liked the anime as long as it was still ambiguous. This kiss/hug scene made it much less ambiguous and left them feeling awkward.
some people liked it as long as the pairing was not mainstream - they liked being a niche shipper.
Conversely, more people started watching once they heard it was canon and not queerbaiting/fan service.
Johnny Weir homage with young Victor’s outfit and rose crown at European Worlds.
Johnny hears of this and adds YOI on his to-watch list.
Kubo-sensei tweets about a certain scene - confirms and does not confirm it as a kiss
pre-Episode 8
Will YOI talk about homophobia and LGBT hatred?
They’re going to Russia next - lots of fanfiction about Victor dealing with past and current homophobia, and how Yuuri and Victor would act during their stay in Russia.
Magazine had the titles for episodes 8 and 9 - “Victor returns to Japan” has people theorize about what could be drastic enough to have him return.
Kubo-sensei strikes again:
tweets about looking forward to Dengeki’s summary this week and ends up trolling the fandom.
being one of us and wanting them to get married already.
Makkachin’s name revealed to have no meaning.
Dengeki posts 5 hours later than normal.
Episode 8
Angry fans yelling “Why didn’t they use this chance to address hatred?”
People arguing about how this is nice because we already have so many other series about hatred and would it kill them to let us have ONE nice thing in life? Let’s just appreciate that we get a happy relationship with no prejudice or hatred from the world for once.
Kubo-sensei defending the hate-free world she created.
Seung-gil feather duster/parrot/swiffer comments and comparisons.
Sala vs Sara
official site and subs romanized her name as “Sala” but a more natural spelling would be “Sara.” (sala means living room in Spanish and Italian)
wihin the week, the spelling was corrected on both the website and subs to “Sara.”
Mila Babicheva was also changed to Mira Babicheva at this time.
Makkachin-related tags and comments
#Don’t die Makka!
#SaveMakka2k16
#Makkachoked
Speculation on what Yuuri will place - and who will make it to the GPF.
J.J. and the cross - many understood it as a religious motion, but it was soon linked by figure skating fans to Yuzuru’s cross motion to check body axis.
Kissing the ice - seen as “J.J. is so narcissistic and kissing himself,” then disputed by other fans as a sign of respect for the ice much like real-life athletes do with the ice, track&field, and court.
Yurio x J.J. shipping starts
Sub!Victor fanfic boom, BDSM, foot fetish, and other related body worship fics
YOI trends over Barack Obama (Nov 24)
Katsudon recipe released by Funimation on Yuuri’s birthday (Nov. 29)
Preview images for ep9 of Sara encroaching on Yuuri - some people worried that this would be in-series drama or that fans would ship it.
Dengeki still posting way later than they used to. This leads to lots of waiting and loss of hope for future episodes until…
Episode 9
Freaking out over the airport scene:
“What did Yuuri’s tears mean???”
relieved/touched Victor cares for him and returns feelings? All the emotions catching up from their separation and the hard skating?
guilt over hiding that he will retire soon? Sadness that this will only last 2 more weeks?
Clarifying why Victor brought up “proposal” (“Why does what Yuuri said sound like a proposal?”)
People “fixing” the subs (mis)translate the word “koto” as if it was the word “mono” and end up making Yuuri’s line to Victor sound super possessive/cheesy as a result.
Yuuri mentioning that he’ll win gold prompts discussions about “Does Yuuri need a gold medal to be happy? Is a gold necessary for his character?”
Fandom exploding over Yurio’s pure smile and friendship with Yuuri
People uneasy over Sara and Michele’s sibling relationship.
Mira x Sara ship gains steam and sets sail.
“Hug zombie” - the term given to Yuuri’s hugging spree
Johnny Weir planned to watch YOI “one episode per day,” but failed and watched two episodes the first day. Then binged the rest within two more days and caught up in time for episode 10 on Wednesday.
Naked Victor on the front page of NBC due to Johnny’s tweets
Crunchyroll releases Katsudon Pirozhki recipe (Dec 7)
pre-Episode 10
“Something round and golden” -- gold medal, wedding rings, cock rings, onion rings, golden snitch
Kubo-sensei fanning the flames
we were losing hope for teasers until... our saviors, Animate, took over for posting them. Dengeki still posted the identical teaser pics on their site, but did so at a later hour.
Preview lines about Yuuri recalling the previous year’s nightmare banquet.
Translation confusion led to people thinking it was a “nightmare bucket” “nightmare baguette” (and other attempts to find the correct foreign word) until someone pointed out that figure skating competitions have banquets.
Theories about what happened at the banquet.
Episode 10
Rings
Yuuri buying one ring (with Victor buying the other) vs. Yuuri buying pair rings as a set
would later be confirmed in a magazine post-series that Yuuri bought both rings
Are they really engaged or not?
Best plot twist ever.
The ending changes everything we ever knew about this series
people analyzing all the interactions since episode 1
“Poor Victor” comments and tags appear
“Victor was pining all along!”
Victor seen as super patient and willing to let Yuuri drive the pace (because he never brings up the banquet in order to respect Yuuri’s shyness).
Victor flying to Japan with his dick out.
Victor had a crush on Yuuri since the beginning.
“Victor is a dork who would do anything for love” mentality sweeps away previous malaise.
fanfic and fanart explosion of dorky, loving Victor
This is when the loving!Victor image squashed any lingering remnants of evil!Victor
Eros parallel re-interpreted as Yuuri being the playboy and Victor being the woman seduced and left behind.
Victor is savage for making a program based on the banquet and thinking to skate it for a season.
Pole dancers comment that the moves in Yuri on Ice reference actual moves (Yuuri is pretty good and has great grip strength; a couple of Chris’ moves are incredibly hard)
Otayuri (Otabek x Yurio) becomes a pairing
Beach scene discussion - was Victor angry or not, and why?
Hype for Kubo-sensei revealing that the GPF would have the most realistic animation of all the episodes.
Animate posted late (only a few hours before airing), but Dengeki even later.
Episode 11
“Scoring system is broken!”
Yurio’s score is literally impossible using the current real-life ISU scoring system (he’s about 5 points too high)
Yuuri scored low despite low number of technical mistakes
J.J. given a higher score than should be allowed because of his huge errors.
Discussion on Victor looking out at the ice during Yurio’s SP (“what was he thinking?”), and discussion about his flashback and burden
Chris’ mystery man ( “Chris’ boyfriend”? “Who IS that guy???”)
Half the fandom dies with Yuuri’s last sentence; half the fandom trusts Kubo-sensei (and comforts the other half)
Evgenia posts a tweet trusting everything will be alright
People’s view of J.J. changes - some sympathy and “??? I never expected to actually care for this guy!”
It seems everyone pitches their predictions about who will be on the podium.
“Phichit’s hamsters predict the podium?” theory
pre-Episode 12
We give up on teasers because they’re so late. Animate releases them a few hours before the episode airs.
Oh!SkaTra!!! Yuri!!! on ICE Soundtrack released about a day before the final episode aired.
“Spoilers” (but not really, because we had the tracklist since episode 5). We confirm the last two songs are the exhibition skates. People avoid Tumblr until the episode airs because of the “spoiler threat.”
Episode 12
Breaking Tumblr, Crunchyroll, and Animate.
Crunchyroll released a statement on Twitter about YOI’s high traffic breaking it.
Tumblr crashed (traffic volume too high) right after the CR simulcast/subs came out around 4PM EST. It wasn’t fully fixed until several hours later.
Animate’s website crashed for the same reason as above.
“It wasn’t gay enough”
People feeling disappointed about the relationship between Yuuri and Victor because there was no second kiss or explicit “I love you.” People wanted something that could not be denied (wanted an “uncensored” kiss).
Others counter-argued that relationships can show deep love without needing an “I love you,” and point out how the relationship was built steadily throughout the series.
People feeling betrayed because Yuuri didn’t win gold.
“Otabek was robbed!” and “J.J. overscored!” complaints circulate
“I won’t kiss it unless it’s gold” prompted a legion of pictures/comics, and fics.
Gushing over the liberate use of ring flares
“History Makers” in the end credits - the extra “s” felt like an Easter egg to some.
Ice dance vs. Pairs - many fans mistake the final Duetto exhibition skate as Pairs when it’s actually based on an Ice Dance routine
How will Victor do both skating and coaching?
Will we get a Season 2? “See You Next Level” means a second season, right?
After the series, we saw Oh!SkaTra!!! and the DVD/BD volumes sell ridiculous amounts - easily placing in either 1st or 2nd place on Oricon’s charts for DVD, BD, CD, and CD digital release. The Blu-ray and DVD volumes continue to hold high sales. Magazines continue to be translated. Some ideas/meta are confirmed and others become defunct.
It was a wild ride from way back when YOI was only a website and PV. Every week brought new ideas, writings, meta, art, and discussions. It was to the point where some weeks you would get in-depth meta and polished art just hours after the episode aired. In fact, there was so much made that you could easily reblog hundreds of posts in a day for the more explosive episodes, and meta would either get hundreds of notes or be lost in the current of new stuff appearing every few minutes. At the rate that it’s still going with new campaigns, events, and merchandise, Yuri!!! on ICE will be active for quite some time.

It’s almost Christmas kids! I hope you are all having the best time! I redid my hair recently and I am so happy with how it turned out. All sof and snowy white. I’ve piled it up in a top bun to keep it out of m face and I am rocking a serious Mrs. Claus look right now. Very festive! I know this time of year is rough on a lot of people so if you need to chat, I am absolutely all ears! In the meantime though Mat and I are bringing you the best gift of all, the gift of Yaoi! Matt is in bold, naturally!
and now for something new!
You know, last episode I was thinking how are they going to wrap everything up in a single episode and now I’m wondering what they have left to talk about, but we’ll get back to that later first let’s talk about what just happened. My thoughts exactly, but yes best we not jump ahead of ourselves!
I always really liked Takato’s manager I was happy to see that he had such a nice life. I was also thrilled that Takato actually seems to have a real friend out there. And boy was he adorable with nana-chan! Wasn’t he just?! Plus Nana-chan seems pretty perceptive for a however old she was… picking up on the fact that Takato wasn’t happy.
why have we not seen kitty Takato until now?
I did think that Rina, the wife, was drawn sort of weird. Like she belonged in that horrible beach filler episode. Am I nuts? There were a couple of faces like that this episode, the manager had it in an earlier scene too and some others scattered around, felt like they were rushing a few pieces of art throughout, though I guess that happens when you get further down the season.
you see it too, right?
Those middle scenes where they were keeping up the tense breakup were pretty well done. It’s really not my thing but for those people that enjoy low stakes romantic drama, I think it would have been appreciated. And there are a lot of those people. Are you one of those people Matt? Probably? I mean I don’t watch that much romantic drama (unless you count harems as romance, I don’t unless the main character makes a choice by the end) but it was “enjoyable” in the sense that I was entertained by them?
Like I said, there was only one way to salvage Junta’s character and he show did *exactly* as I said. Good job show, everytime you listen to me, you are better! Junta and Yukie were pulling a stunt on the paparazzi that served to get Junta and Takato in a comfortable public position and gave Yukie some great publicity. It really could not have worked out any better. It almost worked out too well, like there almost wasn’t an ounce of bad fallout from this whole endeavour. I mean kudos to Junta and Yukie for pulling it off I suppose, but it felt a bit too neat. That is what I was driving at, then again I kinda like the Disney ending for this story. It fits.
we had figured it out….
Witch’s Drip is still an amazingly dorky title. I wish we saw more scenes from it as it was being shot! Is it a reference to something? Or is it just one of those silly titles that don’t make sense, why is a ‘witch’ dripping? Is she wet? Is it sexual innuendo??? Vampire’s drip is a cocktail…
You know, I enjoy likable antagonists and that tabloid editor seemed like the nicest bad guy ever. I kinda wish we had gotten to know him a bit better. Speaking of which, I did kind of like that the photographer found his way out of his ‘sleazy’ paparazzi lifestyle by the end of the story. Even if it falls into the whole ‘too neat’ category as far as wrapping up loose ends–at least for me.
thank you!
So Junta’s brilliantly maneuvered everything so Takato and him can openly move in together. And super hot studio exec guy is going to give them a project so they can work together too… What more could anyone ask for? Matt, are you thinking what I’m thinking? Let’s say it together: threesome! I… I don’t know if I’m ready for that just yet Irina… Oh you mean the characters in the show! Haha of course you did… sure why not, let’s get all the men naked while we’re at it!
not funny Matt
We got a last minute wrench in the works type of scene which I assume was only thrown in to either sell the manga or give them something to do next episode. But there’s a seemingly other hot evil guy named Arisu who even makes the super cool prez nervous. We know he’s evil because he was sucking on a lollipop. Only bad guys do that. Do you think he’ll mater? Yeah the introduction of a new character (especially an antagonist) this late in the game is usually a show adapting a manga too closely to make a neat complete story-arc, so many of the harem and ecchi shows I watch do this because at that point in the series they are usually adapting the end of volume 3 of a manga around the episode 9/10 mark and the end of volume 3 in mangas are often when new characters are introduced.
he’s gonna show up in a sec…
We didn’t get preview of next week but the title and end of this episode makes me think it’s going to be another filler ep. I hope not. Dakaichi does not have a great track record with those. I mean if it is, hopefully it’s amusingly bad and not painfully bad so we can just make fun of it and consider episode 12 the ~real~ end of the season. Or we could be surprised and it’s the best episode ever!
There you have it folks, just one more to go and you’ll be able to read all about it over on Matt’s blog. In the meantime, everyone stay safe this Christmas, hug your pets for me and enjoy the Yaoi.
P.S. Lina mentioned I Hear the Sunspot being her favorite Manga so I binged all 3 available volumes in English in ne night. It shares a lot of narrative beats with Dakaichi, so if you liked one, you might really enjoy the other!
and a very happy holiday to YOU!
Getting fanservicy screencaps of this show has become a hobby of mine. Turns out it’s super easy. Here are a whole bunch!
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
DAKAICHI -I’m being harassed by the sexiest man of the year Ep 12 – All’s well that ends next episode It’s almost Christmas kids! I hope you are all having the best time! I redid my hair recently and I am so happy with how it turned out.
