ooooh not to butt in with a "chris bowes (guy who started the band and writes the plot) said something about this" argument because who gives a shit about what chris bowes says but apparently the canon in-universe explanation is that the knife wasn't a knife of evil, zargothrax basically put in the battery the wrong way round on accident and THAT'S why the knife (originally the knife of virtue or whatever the fuck) is evil now. i love ignoring this bit of word of god because the starlords are sketchy as HELL and i love the thought that they're a little evil for zest :)

If there are any members I’ve excluded it is most likely because I fucking hate them. If you submit a request for someone and I refuse to do it then it’s either because: it makes me uncomfortable to write for said person especially if it’s smut, I don’t know enough about them to write a fic or I hate them. Winkler moves on to a "new" project? With the same character? Please, nobody's that petty. At the same time, Gloryhammer releases an album introducing Doubled Characters(Zargothrax and his Nuclear Clone)? Clearly, this can lead to only one thing:

The Glorious Reunion, where Angus McSix teams up with Angus McFife XXIV to put an end to Zargothrax, once and for all, or at least until the next album.

So it's been a bit of a year... I'm fairly sure someone left a monkey's paw around somewhere, and I tripped over it by accident. That and getting a shiny new diagnosis of Crohn's Disease (does not make you an actual crone, that is a lifestyle choice, not an autoimmunity condition). As such I'm going to be very gentle to myself with these.

Technically? I finished the long form Gloryhammer fanfic I have been plugging away at for the last few nanos, as well as a few one-shots. I also did a bunch of writing work for larp but like my nano this year, it was hampered by my new health condition flaring up.

sew a piece of clothing for myself or Ben

Didn't manage this, though I did make a pretty hooded caplet for a friend! And have stuff together to make actual clothing things for people next year! Closest to a clothing piece I made would be a white plague doctor mask I made for Ben. It apparently needs more ventilation holes...

rework a cosplay

Not managed this year... though I suppose I am working on a new one, which is made via reworking an existing dress. Does that count?

I'll just settle for actually eating at least once a day. Again, Crohn's is not a fun one when it comes to digestion and eating.

Semi managed! I managed to get into the habit of taking pictures of my work after each stream. Mostly at least. So my discord server has regular updates! Now for all my other media accounts...

I like to think that I did actually do this. I certainly made a number of friends in the twitch crafting community, and I'm recognised by them in turn. I may also be very bad for throwing plushies at them, though that is mainly because I like giving people things...

Leave the house more

So funny story... at the start of the year, whilst I was in hospital, our washing machine broke. Thankfully, we have some really lovely friends who have a washing machine and a dryer. Which has meant we make weekly trips over the city with a bag or few of laundry and to hang out. Its leaving the house! It counts!

sort and clear spare room

Again, I've made progress, my fabric is all sorted, I've even started trying to remove the mould from the walls. Next steps are dismantling the old bed in there and giving it to our Pathfinder DM and then getting a new loft bed in there. Progress!

Get to the stage where we can get a cat!

This year has been a hard one. Most of it is finding a new balance with my diagnosis, as well as trying to get it under control. It has meant I have been more exhausted and it's let things slip. But over all, I am proud of what I have achieved despite it!

Highlights of the year include getting to stay in a castle for a week, discovering a new craft joy in cross stitch and medal making! Plus the joy when I made a bunch of medals for the local nanowrimo group and handed them out to people before November began. That joy is why I love crafting (and why I had to be bullied into actually selling them rather than just giving it away all the time). Plus getting to meet a bunch of my partner's online friends at last!

Avantasia: My AU focuses on the four protagonists, with other characters appearing like Elderane and Anna, as well as various villains from all four series of albums!

"The four protags have been pulled into the modern world, and are working to live together, find a home for themselves, work out shadows and traumas from their pasts, and face their demons on their way to becoming a family~"

NOTE: My fics were started in 2020, so please understand some of the old ones are outdated and are being updated, it is on my list of things to do! A few designs have changed as well along the way, as well as my writing style. I will work to make everything updated in time!

My fics take place mainly in midwest America and Avantasia, though the characters travel time and dimensions often, into each of their own albums eras and locations! And some new ones as well ;)

Ayreon: This fic series focuses on Ayreon the blind minstrel, and his two friends he met at the Electric Castle, Hippie and Knight! Follow them on their adventures, as they face their fears, pasts, and come together as a (chaotic) family~

This takes place in a fantastical version of Camelot, though the characters may find some timey wimey shenanigans happen, as well as interference from a certain aquatic race...

Attempting to bleach my old bandshirts. Starting with an old Finntroll one, as a test drive.

If this works, I'll have at least 7 shirts I can wear again (they've become so sun-and-motion bleached in sleeves and one side of the shirt that I'm ashamed to wear them in public), which include three Finntroll ones, two Amon Amarth ones and one Dragony. Possibly a Gloryhammer one as well. We'll see.

(not so sure about Dragony, however, because the fabric is fucking flimsy on that one, but if it works, it works, and if it doesn't then bumblebees and bees everywhere will only appreciate me not wearing it :')

I don't normally like Gloryhammer, but this video has a certain almost archetypal power. The lyrics are hokey even by power metal standards. But it works, and it's entirely because their singer, who was actually in his mid-20s at the time, manages to look like a teenager who's extremely serious about what he's saying. I can see a 17 year old with all the energy, impulsiveness and black-and-white thinking of youth say these things, and mean them, and go to war for them. With someone who's 10 years older it would just seem ridiculous. But Thomas' baby face saves the day.
