Last weekend I attempted to go a lighter color with my hair and I ended up over processing it pretty badly. This is not the worst I've ever fried my hair, I've been dying, bleaching, flat ironing, and just all around abusing my hair since I was 12. I had just recently gotten it back to a pretty healthy state where all the previous damage was cut out and it was growing decently fast. I'm kicking myself for letting this happen again. Not gonna lie I cried pretty hard when I realized my hair had turned to gummy pulp for probably the 3rd time in my coloring career. I found something new in my care regiment research this time though. Like every hair product out there is claims to do amazing things that experience tells me are complete bull shit. But this treatment has a lot more professional and amateur praise than most and is supposed to be a totally new method than any before it. Rather than a conditioner or a protein treatment, #Olaplex claims to be a "bond multiplier". What this apparently means is that it is able to chemically restore the broken sulfate bonds in your damaged hair. It claims to be both a preventative measure as well as a restorative one. I have an appointment at 630 at #ZenLoft in #Indianapolis to have my first Salon Olaplex treatment and get the #3 take-home product. If it goes well I may spring for my own kit on Amazon and continue with the treatments at home. WOW! That's all I have to say is W.O.W. my hair feels sooooo much better! Even before it was conditioned I could tell it was working just because the stylist was able to run her fingers through my hair without it tangling and pulling. I felt my hair wile wet with no product and it didn't feel like a wet cotton ball for the first time this week. Its shinier, it feels stronger, and with the take-home product it is supposed to only get better. Now I will admit, we had to cut off about an inch all around. However, in defense of the product and the stylist, the very ends probably needed to come off any way. They've been taking a beating for more than a year. Overall I would say this was a total success! This is NOT a cure-all for fucked hair, but it never claimed to be. All of my research made it very clear that it would not restore hair 100%, that you would still need a care regimen after, and that some damage can't be undone. But in the end this has truly been the most revolutionary hair care product I have ever tried, it actually did what it claimed to do, and it was 200% worth every penny!!!
