Now you've been asked what you do like about him what about the opposite what don't you like about goh?
Aw man, this is gonna hurt.
TL;DR - Goh’s a completely lovable character, but I have three particular issues with him that I feel could become worse if not taken care of properly.
First off, DISCLAIMERS!! To all my fellow Goh fans, please know that writing this, I do not mean any hatred to Goh in anyway. I LOVE Goh, and if you’ve seen literally ANY of my past anipoke posts, you would already know that. These are just issues I find with his character that I want to be changed for the best.
Now with that outta the way, here’s what I don’t like about Goh:
1. His iffy character development. While he’s doing fine in becoming more open to people and more willing to help Pokemon, his fighting skills are what I have trouble with it. Let’s go back to his first ever official battle.
It was at Hoenn’s Frontier Cup where he used Scorbunny and Scyther against a trainer’s Mightyena. Despite having a type advantage with Scyther, he lost horribly, which is completely understandable. He’s a beginner and doesn’t possess the same kind of street smarts and experience Ash and many other trainers have. Alright then, so maybe this will lead to a change in character of wanting to become better in battles by getting some training with Ash, who made quick work of that Mightyena trainer. Surely we’ll get some development over this topic after this episode!
He beats Saffron City’s Karate Master and scores a free Hitmonchan.
...Okaaaay, I mean, we’ve never seen the Karate Master in battle before, so perhaps it was just another fodder trainer the anime is filled of. I sure we’ll get some more Goh development after thi-
He easily defeats and captures a powerful Flygon.
.....Alright, alright, it was only a wild Pokemon. Everyone can beat those, right? Heck, in the next episode, he technically suffers a curbstomp loss against Kiawe and admits he only battles Ash every so often. Perhaps this loss will encourage Goh to train more with Ash so he could become a stronger trainer. I mean, despite his good luck with Pokeballs, he’s gonna need to be as strong as he can be for tougher mons, like Legendaries. I’m 100% sure we’ll get something out of thi-
He takes down a wild Zapdos and NEARLY captures it.
.........Uh, okie dokes, it wasn’t a successful capture, and who knows? Even though we have not seen him battle/train that much on-screen, maybe he just got a little lucky. Even in the games, it happens to the best of us. Perhaps this barely missed victory will finally give Goh the time to actually development more on-screen so that he could have a better chance agai-
He defeats Oleana’s Milotic, using his fire-type Raboot who only wanted to use a weak fire-type move.
..............Allllriiiiight, maybe Oleana just got a little cocky later on. Plus, Raboot finished Milotic by evolving in Cinderace and finishing it off with Pyro Ball. With this powerful evolution in hand, maybe Goh will finally realize that, in order for Cinderace to reach its greatest potential, he must start training for once and obtain some proper development for a chance against stronger threa-
Cinderace fights decently well against Mewtwo, even lasting longer than Pikachu and being on-par with the more trained Lucario.
....................At this point, I’m all out of excuses for him. Overall, Goh’s development as a trainer is very rushed to the point seeing him achieve numerous victories despite all odds being against his favor to be iffy.
2. Slightly touchy topic, but there are some negatives with his whole catching all Pokemon goal. So Goh wants to catch every single mon he can in order to reach up to Mew, as he said to Mewtwo in episode 46. And yes, this includes Legendaries as well. Unfortunately, this is where my issues with his goal starts. First off, where in the world will Goh keep any Legendary he encounters? Cerise’s glorified garden dome? Yeah, keep Dialga and Palkia, literal beings of space and time, inside a glass dome with a bunch of weaker mons. And speaking of which, wouldn’t catching mons like the Creation Trio or the Island Guardians cause quite the upset in, well, y’know, the natural balance of things? Sure, Goh technically hasn’t caught a single Legendary yet (Eternatus doesn’t count because it had to be sealed away), with how the anime is playing out, issues like this will surely rise throughout the series.
And yes, the anime is playing it out for Goh to indeed catch every single mon before reaching Mew. If you pay attention to the openings as well as many of Goh’s own character moments, such as episode 46, then you can easily see the signs telling us that Goh is bound to catch them all, just as Ash is bound on defeating Leon. In the past, pretty much all of Ash’s traveling companions had their own goals as well, but it’s usually because of those goals is why they leave Ash by the end of their journeys, like May and Dawn pursuing contests in other regions, Brock wanting to become a doctor, Iris wanting to find more Dragon types, Kiawe wanting to become an Island Kahuna etc. Because of that, it becomes up to the audience’s interpretation (and fanfics) on how they achieve their dreams and what challenges they could face throughout the way. With Goh, there will a lot more focus and emphasis placed on his goal, and while this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s too bad there aren’t really any stakes or obstacles in Goh’s journey!
Really now, another glaring issue with Goh’s goal is that he has NO trouble going through with it at all. From his very first fodder capture, all he has to do is get a good throw and then PING! Pokemon caught. Guess the thing of having to weaken a Pokemon first before capturing it has been retconned out of the anime forever. With that said, there’s absolutely no struggle for Goh to overcome in his journey, which kinda makes things boring. Where’s the challenge? Where are his rivals? Are there any doubts? Does he have any issue of having to catch and connect every single mon in existence? No, well then good for him I guess! Sad thing too is that he catches so many Pokemon with so much potential, but they then disappear completely after their debut.
Remember that free Hitmonchan he scored from Saffron’s Fighting Dojo who seemed completely willing to train with Riolu and Farfetch’d? Never seen again. That female Raichu who loves giving berries? Completely forgotten about. That Aerodactyl Goh resurrected and bonded with before catching? Thanos snapped. The Heracross Goh obtained from a trade at the cost of a second Pinsir he worked hard to find? Literally who?
3. And my biggest issue with Goh. The fact he’s somehow on the same scale as Ash.
Don’t believe me? Well, let’s go back to the ending of episode 46. After Mewtwo teleported him, Ash, Pikachu, Lucario, and Cinderace back home, Goh said this: “We’ve still got a long way to go.”
Excuse me, but WHAT?!?!?!
You BOTH got a long way to go, even though you both suffered a complete curbstomp from a mon that would probably even make the likes of Lance, Cynthia, and Leon comparable to Youngster Joey?!?! What the Distortion World?!?! Why is Goh and, by extension, the writers implying he and Ash are on even terms when it comes to being a trainer? Goh, as a reminder, you literally only began your trainer career 45 episodes ago!!
Alright, let’s talk about Ash for a second and what he’s been through since he started his trainer career. Ash started in Kanto, and while he really only fairly achieved three out of his eight badges (Brock and Misty’s were givens, Erika’s was a thank-you gift, Sabrina’s was all Haunter’s doing, and Jessie and James are complete jokes that no one should take seriously), he still partook in as many battles as he could against tough trainers while getting some pointers from the much more experienced Misty and Brock. After that, he went on to become a much more impressive trainer in later journeys. Instead of a full recap, I’ll just list two impressive things Ash has done in each region he’s journeyed through after losing in the Kanto League.
Orange Islands: Won his first official double battle with Pikachu and Charizard despite neither initially getting along at first and then defeated the Orange League champ, Drake.
Johto: Survived an entire forest of bloodthirsty Ursaring with his friends and defeated Gary’s Blastoise with his Charizard.
Hoenn: Helped stopped both Team Magma and Team Aqua’s elemental threats and reached Top 8 in the Hoenn League despite only two of his mons being fully evolved with one being a glass cannon bird.
Kanto again: Conquered the Battle Frontier and tied with May in his first ever contest.
Sinnoh: Helped protect a Riolu from the famed Hunter J and knocked out two of Tobias’ Legendary Pokemon.
Unova: Defeated Iris’ Dragonite twice (Charizard pretty much had the high ground in their fight) and helped protect Meloetta.
Kalos: Defeated four Mega Evolutions (Lucario, Abomasnow, Absol, and Sceptile) and was one of the main heroes against Lysandre.
Alola: Became an Ultra Guardian and conquered the Alola League.
And right now as of Journeys: Defeated Korinna’s Mienfoo and Mega Lucario with only Dragonite right after the two curbstomped Gengar and defeated Chairman Rose.
And this isn’t even scratching the surface, and yet, somehow, Ash is still on the same scale of Goh. This doesn’t make any logical sense, it completely negates Ash’s experience while over-wanking Goh’s, and it ruins any semblance of power scaling between the two. Logically, Ash should be leagues above Goh and the latter should always confide to Ash whenever he needs assistance or pointers, not “Oh, we both lost to a powerful legendary, guess that means we both have stuff to learn and we’re both beginners lul”. It’s like Deku and All Might both losing a villain that’s beyond both of their capabilities, and then Deku saying that they BOTH have much to learn afterwards! Does it make sense? HECK NO.
If they had to have Goh comment about their loss, why couldn’t he say something that would’ve made more sense? Maybe say something like “Wow, I can’t believe I lasted that long, honestly.” And then Ash would say, “Hey, you’re only getting better. And me and my team will always be there in case you need more training.” Have the two acknowledge the fact that even trainers like Leon wouldn’t fare any better than them against Mewtwo. Just absolutely anything that doesn’t completely ruin what we know of these characters to the point the two are considered equals, despite all the evidence saying otherwise.
I’m getting a little exhausted now, so I’m done, but thanks for asking, anon!
And for anyone reading, please feel free to agree or disagree. I’m completely acceptable to anyone else’s thoughts/opinions over Goh and would love to hear them.

Pokemon Rejuvenation V13 Live Reaction Thread 10/10+Final Thoughts
Spoilers for V13 under cut
Geara >:(
Did I ever tell yall that i despise the haunted field
Geara’s team(Krook,Para,Grimm,Geng,Chan,Clef)
Hmmm
This fight isn’t particularly hard my problem is that Gengar can hit very hard and the clefairy is annoying ugh
what the fuck????
what the fuck is up with the parasect???
Maybe he is hard
I soft resetted so many times for the fight
Also ig u can’t overwrite and destroy fields anymore???i tried to use misty terrain because the hypnosis was driving me insane but it was just added onto the field
i really don’t like that
Its morning now
I beat him because I got a crit on the clefable :)
Still hated that battle
Okie saki time
wtf is up with this field 🗿
Remember when I said the hardest fight so far in v13 was the Cella battle
Yea
Not anymore
Saki’s field is busted and since we can’t really remove fields temporarily w/ type terrains…i’m stuck in it…
Was Terra in reborn fought on this field…?I forgot how I beat her it’s been years
So the Glitch Field
Yes i’m taking notes
Removes the physical/special split
Meaning physical and special moves are based off of typing now
Special attack is based off of either spatk or spdef, depending on the larger one
Wonder room can kinda make things easier
Dragon types are useless
New day
Saki’s pissing me off and this is kinda an unfair fight since changing the fields doesn’t work anymore
I don’t care if this is cowardly but i am gonna cheese saki through destiny bond+quick claw+wonder room mismagius
First try with cheesing i made it to her last mon(corviknight) but i accidentally ran out of potions…somehow
Took 3 tries with cheesing but I beat her
Not proud of it but i wanna finish the main story
GROUP HUG
Rhodea :(
Oh shit crescent
Crescent deserves better
Ooo Xenpurgis is an ub
Rune mvp
Oh damn we’re just attacking team xen in v14 cool cool
Cool done with the main story
Okay I am going to a little review for this version. Overall I think I would give this chapter a B+ or a B.
My favorite path without a doubt was Erin+Kanon’s route. I loved exploring Angie’s mansion and I adored the atmosphere of the place itself. The map and tilesets were just really well done. I used Erin’s team without the Interceptor…well intervening with our pkmn and I felt like the difficulty was just right. I stuggled but all I needed to do was change my strategy. The atmosphere with the maids and the ost complemented the environment so well. Erin was great and she’s probably a contender for one of my favorites in the game…ignoring Aelita of course. The path also added a lot onto the Vitus situation and what interactions might happen in the endgame since we still don’t know his whereabouts.
Next would have to be either Aelita or the Player’s path. Personally, the path’s were kinda along the same in terms of ranking but I feel like their was more that happened in the player’s path that personally felt more relevant. It was nice seeing the player’s past self and their history with Crescent back in Miera…which begs the question, how old is Crescent??? Geniunely what is the timeline between the events at Miera with the player and the player heading to Gearen…Also thank you developers for not making Crescent have a past romantic relationship with the player…I have seen this happen too many times in other games and shows. Let them just be besties. Looking back at it, this part was kinda dialogue heavy but that problem is alleviated from the puzzles and good interactions in both routes.
The only problem I felt is that…imo Rune left as soon as she came. Ig since we found out she’s the puppet master she was always there but…i felt like we should’ve seen her as Rune just a bit longer…Also the twist regarding her and Huey’s background also kinda felt like it should’ve been alluded to earlier(unless they did hint to it earlier and i just forgot) because it didn’t feel like much. Still a good route tho, a solid B.
My least favorite was Melia+Venam+Ren’s route. I kinda felt like this route was shorter than the other one’s looking back at it. Gameplay wise there wasn’t much happening there save for the battle with Cassandra. The underground area also wasn’t really special overall. There was some interesting tidbits regarding the Archetype and the Garufans but it hasn’t really payed off yet in the story. The trio’s interactions were just okay, I liked their interactions in Goldenwood but their dialogue in the underground place was meh. Though I loved Nim and I am happy to know she has changed sides, I can’t wait to see more of her.
The developers knocked it out of the park with this version! I only talked about the additions to the main story but I went back to earlier places that got upgraded and woa Sheridan and Goldenrood look phenomenal! Route 3 and Phasial cave got changed and they look superb. I’ll miss Route 4 but the reservoir looks amazing so far and I am impressed with how they are handling the rift dens! Also making gigantamax mons function like mega evolutions is genius. Also the aevium forms are really nice and my favorite is the alolan mareep that I can’t get :)))))))))))
Also I started over to see changes made with the beginning cutscene and man the ship looks better and the additions with the full artwork of characters is great. I want to play this game again in the future(probably during winter break since I am going to be busy for awhile) on normal mode with a monotype team but I haven’t decided which one yet :o
That’s it with main story additions, I am going to have to go back and catch any new pokemon added in the game.

If you get this, answer with 3 random facts about yourself and send it to the last 7 blogs in your notifications, anonymously or not! Let's get to know the person behind the blog!
Oki doki!
1. I'm somewhat ambidextrous, I can use my left hand for some "stronger" hand tasks (snapping, occasionally cooking, holding stuff), which is useful when my right hand gets tired. :)
2. Gengar is my (new) favorite Pokemon, I find these mischievous fat ghosts extremely comforting. If you show me a Gengar picture I'd get very happy! :)
3. I currently have 4 Pokemon plushies! A Plusle, Minun, Squirtle, and ofc Gengar. I hope to expand this collection as soon as possible. :)

Pokémon Black 2 Randomized Nuzlocke Run [Part 10]
Elite Four grind time.
With some time spent pushing rocks into holes, just in case I need to go places in the future.
Team:
Caspet (Gengar)
Nessy (Milotic)
Diego (Gardevoir)
Stormy (Metagross)
Vertex (Luxray)
Photon (Rayquaza)
So here we are, leveling up our team before our chaotic last stand, and that means... we’re in a new route. One more for the road.
What will it be?
It’s a Fire type!
I’m a moron!
No, Diego, no.
...
FUCK I HAD A MASTER BALL I COULD HAVE USED.
WHY DOES MY BRAIN CONSISTENTLY GO TO THE “yeah there could be a type problem but I’m sure it’ll be fine,” ARENA WHEN I’M TRYING TO CATCH THINGS. YOUR OPTIMISM IS KILLING THIS TEAM. KILLING IT.
IT’S CAUGHT ANYWAY.
I GUESS THE LITTLE MURDERER WHO’S LIKELY TO BE PART OF THE TEAM GETS A NAME.
YOU’RE DAMIAN. IN ALL CAPS.
I’m so sorry my optimism killed you, Diego.
I have a Dawn Stone now.
Maybe things would have gone better if I had it earlier.
I might be sorrier I have to grind something else. But I’m mostly just sorry.
-sigh-
Rest well, friend.
Now then.
Hey there. You’re Serious and often doze off.
I guess I’ll train you now.
We’ll be back when the demon child is up to 60!
Or when I’m in his patch of grass again and cool, Sunflora and Manaphy. Mareep is in more common grass. As is Rhyhorn and Manectric. Ninjask in the water. Look, the wild one live longer. Braviary is occasionally here too, with Marill in the deep spots.
Heeeeey, DAMIAN made it to 60 without dying! Also without anyone else dying! Nifty! We’re throwing Caspet back in front, handing the Exp. Share to Photon for now, and just going to go through this Victory Road.
What I assume to be Victory Road. This part of the game blends together for me even worse than the rest.
...Well, now I’m on it, so no matter!
Wait. We had a planned thing?
N, this is why there’s so much fanfic written about you. Thank you, friend. Even if it’s only because I remind you of your boyfriend from the last cartridge set.
What do I teach it to, though? It’s a physical Water attack. A very good one, but I don’t think any of my physical attackers can learn it. I might have to take something out of a box for it... In that case, I might as well also get something that can learn Cut. There are trees about.
Photon and Nessy are the only ones that can learn Waterfall. I don’t think I want it for either of them. To the nearest box!
I don’t know if this is a way to a box, but this is really, really cool and I dig it.
Okay, do I have anything that can learn both Cut and Waterfall? Mayhaps? Or Fly?
No, this isn’t going to be that straightforward. Nessy and Caspet are in the box since they need exp least. Replacing them temporarily are Amuro the Charmander (Cut), and Winn the Whiscash (Waterfall and Surf).
Photon’s in the first slot, Exp. Share moves to Vertex for now.
There’s this maze of Cuttable trees and trainers out before Victory Road proper. I don’t really understand what this gen likes so much about random maze areas, but I think most Pokemon games are into that on some level. It’s just annoying right now because Sun and Moon spoiled me. HMs are obnoxious.
On a related note, Winn now knows Strength.
There are also now Kabutops everywhere.
Having gone through the maze, I’m going down Victory Road with Nessy back in the party and Amuro back in the box. Thanks for your service, bud. Where we’re going, we don’t need Cut. ...I hope.
This gen’s needless drama makes me happy.
And the first pokemon of Victory Road is...!
Hi there. You’re gen appropriate. What are you doing here.
Quick Ball for a quick catch, and your name’s Kansas now. Get in the box.
Other possibilities that can no longer be counted as such are Lickilicky, Psyduck, more Psyduck, Aggron, Spheal, Smeargle, Dragonite, Dewott, Starly, Zweilous, Trapinch, Marill, Swellow, Mismagius, Weavile, Genesect... there were a lot.
Throwing the Exp. Share at DAMIAN for the now.
We’re secretly the same person.
The number of trainers on Victory Road who have history with Team Plasma one way or another is really satisfying. In this sequel game, the events of the game preceding it had an impact on NPCs. Delightful.
Also, I repeat my desire for NPCs to not be allowed to have things that have Sturdy. I hate Sturdy. It makes me sad. So do caves that need Flash to see in. Instead of teaching anything Flash, I’m going to stumble around in the dark. The dark that says this is probably an optional section.
I made my way to an outside!
Hmmm.
Russell?
Russell!
Fuck. Rival fights just when I’m really wanting to see a Pokemon Center are not my favorite thing. They are even less of my favorite thing when I have a slot taken up by an HM slave.
!!!
Hey, this is the rival fight that starts with an Unfezant in this corridor!
It’s level 55, and Russell only has four pokemon, so this should be relatively okay. Bouffalant comes out as a result of Unfezant’s U-turn. Nessy deals with it, but is in the orange. Simisage is next, go DAMIAN. Samurott following, go Vertex. Samurott is level 57. Stormy goes in to finish the Unfezant since Stormy has a Quick Attack replacement.
And that’s the fight! Yay!
Pokemon Center?
Fine, I can take the Thunderbolt TM I guess.
Geez, what happened in the past two years, huh?
Oki doki, I’m going to go back through Victory Road and check out all the things I didn’t want to before finding the health point on the way out. When I’m done with that, I’ll look at the resting levels and decide what I think.
Stormy with the Exp. Share for the moment.
The heck.
Am I going to want to give something Flash?
Randomizer is fun.
Now then. What are you gonna do?
Nothing. Well great.
That kind of leaves with one thing to do, doesn’t it.
Yeah.
Soooo.
I think based on the levels I’ve been up against to get here, continuing to grind kind of defeats the spirit of the Nuzlocke. I also don’t have Fly, so I’m going to stick with what I have available here to construct team improvements.
To the TM page.
Nessy’s going to forget Twister for Ice Beam.
Photon’s going to... actually no.
DAMIAN’s ditching Crunch for Toxic just so someone knows it.
And that’s it for TMs that I could change up their movesets with.
Leftovers for Nessy, Magnet for Vertex, Wide Lens for Stormy, Charcoal for DAMIAN, Spell Tag for Caspet, and Razor Claw for Photon.
Going to spend most of my money on recovery items, and then. In we’ll go.
After giving Caspet all of my remaining Rare Candy. Caspet it level 69. Nice.
I think Fighting dude is to the far right. He’s been a problem in the past, so I’m going to go ahead and try to get that out of the way. Stormy up front because while Photon might have Air Slash and STAB, all these things are likely to have Stone Edge. The worst of everything. Next to Sturdy.
Yeehaw.
...Huh.
Well then.
So Marshal’s first pokemon is a level 56 Throh. At the risk of feeling very embarrassed in a few moments, I think I might be slightly overleveled for this. Uh. Stormy, use Zen Headbutt?
Bye Throh?
Mienshao is up next, and for that one I think I want to switch into Photon. Or do I. See, I can’t remember if Bug is super effective against Stormy or not. Steel clears up a lot of the Pyschic weaknesses, but I am not allowed to look things up, and gaaah.
Stormy can survive one hit of anything, probably. In Stormy stays.
One Zen Headbutt later, Stormy is also staying in to fight Conkeldurr. It’s level 58. It uses Bulk Up (yes, it lived. its berry even brought it back to orange!). Stormy uses Zen Headbutt. Conkeldurr is no more.
Next and last is Sawk. Let me guess. This is still the Sturdy version. It is. It uses Payback, which does a pathetic amount of damage. Stormy uses Bullet Punch to simplify the future, and Marshal Full Restores Sawk. Stormy uses Zen Headbutt.
Yay, I won.
...This is sincerely awkward. I thought they’d be in their 60s. And maybe they are for the second round, but I’ve spent so many hours in this gen that my plan is to call it after beating the Elite Four. So uh. This is my final battle.
To the Psychic room?
I like how two years later, the Elite Four has agreed to stairs instead of moving spiral stairs.
Caspet is up in front.
Caitlin sends out a level 56 Musharna. Caspet uses Shadow Ball. Musharna faints. Caitlin sends in a level 56 Reuniclus. Caspet uses Shadow Ball. Reuniclus faints. Caitlin sends in Sigilyph. Caspet uses Shadow Ball. Sigilyph faints. Caitlin sends in a level 58 Gothitelle. Caspet uses Shadow Ball.
And that’s Caitlin.
Ghost girl next because I already have Caspet up front.
Shauntal sends out a level 56 Cofagrigus. Caspet uses Shadow Ball. She’s about to send out a Golurk, and to keep from being too arrogant, I switch to Nessy. Nessy uses Surf. Bye Golurk. She sends out a Drifblim, I go back to Caspet. Caspet uses Shadow Ball. Nessy gets sent back in against a level 58 Chandelure. Nessy uses Surf.
Nessy’s level 67 now.
Three down.
Stormy, you can sit in front for this next one.
Grimsley sends out his level 56 Liepard. It uses Fake Out. Then it uses Night Slash. Stormy is at 156 HP out of 192. Stormy uses Hammer Arm. Liepard faints. Nessy comes out to handle the Krookodile. It uses Earthquake. Nessy uses Surf. One is left standing.
Scrafty is next.
I don’t have anything I’m super comfortable having out against it, so I think I’m going to go for an odder pick and have Vertex fight it. If nothing else, yay Intimidate.
Vertex uses Spark. Scrafty uses Rock Tomb. Vertex’s Speed is lowered, but Scrafty’s down to half health. Vertex uses Spark. Ugh, a sliver of health left. Scrafty uses Rock Tomb again and Speed is lowered again. Grimsely is going to use a Full Restore, so I’m going to use Charge.
Scrafty uses Crunch.
A moment of fear for Vertex. Yike.
Charged Spark takes out Scrafty, though.
Grimsley’s final pokemon is Bisharp. DAMIAN, this is your time.
DAMIAN uses Flamethrower. Bisharp faints.
4/4.
Yay.
The question now becomes what I want in front. If memory serves, Iris is now the Champion. I don’t know if her Dragon theme is changed up at all. I do know that her levels will be a bit higher than what these four fights have entailed.
I think I’ll put Caspet up front. She’s faster than anything, and does enough damage that unless something goes very wrong, she has an excellent chance of just nailing the first thing.
...On second thought, no.
Iris might have a Hydreigon. Likely not first, but I do not need to ever give a Hydreigon extra moves. So.
Stormy, I guess. Stormy’s reliable, and whatever happens, probably won’t die in one hit. Okay.
Hi I’m Iris and I’m extra af.
AF.
Oh, I don’t remember her theme music. Feels... prancy. I like it.
HEY WAIT LOOK I DID A SMART THING SHE DOES HAVE HYDREIGON FIRST.
STORMY USE HAMMER ARM AND PLEASE HIT.
(It’s level 57.)
Hydreigon uses Flamethrower. I figured there was a very good chance of that happening, but Stormy endures the hit in the green, and Hammer Arm hits.
Hydreigon down!
Stormy grows to level 65!
Aggron is next.
I don’t want to risk Earthquake, Nessy’s taking this.
Level 57 Aggron, Nessy uses Surf. No point wasting Hydro Pump on something likely to have Sturdy.
Okay so it doesn’t have Sturdy.
It’s also gone now.
Nessy’s level 68.
Iris sends out a Lapras, Vertex needs something to do. Vertex uses Charge as a safety measure/to see if I can one-shot the Lapras. Lapras uses... Ice Beam, I think, but I was typing in this window when the attack went off. Because this has my full attention.
Vertex uses Spark. Lapras faints.
Iris has a Haxorus. It is level 59.
Well, Nessy has Ice Beam.
Haxorus hits first with Earthquake. Nessy stays green.
IRIS WHY DOES YOUR HAXORUS HAVE A FUCKING FOCUS SASH COME ON I’M SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO LIKE YOU.
Siiiigh. Nessy gets to use another Ice Beam, likely after the inevitable Full Restore comes in.
Yes to both those things.
Haxorus faints.
Iris sends out Druddigon, Nessy stays in. Nessy uses Ice Beam. ...Druddigon survives with a sliver of red, but is frozen. Nessy uses Ice Beam again. Druddigon faints.
Last up is Archeops.
I am, at heart, a sentimental man.
Caspet. I believe in you. You, the closest thing to a starter this run had after the first hour.
Use Shadow Ball.
WE WIN.
That...
Geez, that certainly happened, didn’t it? I can’t say I’m disappointed, exactly, because I like winning too much, but. Outside of Vertex vs. Scrafty, there wasn’t much fear involved. Kind of anticlimactic.
And sad, to think that Diego could have been part of it if we hadn’t met DAMIAN first. He missed it by so little.
Iris.
Iris.
Please.
Wait, where’s the shot of my entire team? Game!
No.
Here are our available living pokemon in the box. Hark and rejoice, my friends I will never play with again. The friends most of you never met are victorious.
Here lie Dreamor, Tagg, Sylarana, Sasuke, Itsy, Stella, Puff, Boruto, Cerberus, and Diego.
Thank you, and farewell.
Final team:
Nice job, guys.
Caspet, level 70.
Photon, level 65.
Nessy, level 68.
Vertex, level 64.
DAMIAN, level 65.
Stormy, level 65.
Phew.
So all of the tension went out of order for this one. My starter died early, I was massively overleveled for the Elite Four and didn’t even expect to be fighting them this round, then I was, and meaningful deaths weren’t that common or devastating.
But I had fun, and I hope the two of you who sometimes read these enjoyed the adventure. I’m done with this gen for like. at least a year, but I have decided to do a Nuzlocke of either Fire Red or Leaf Green. I don’t know which, but I’m not going to Randomize the run. I am going to have one very specific rule changing things up to make going back to the gen three version of gen one hopefully very worth it, but yeah.
I don’t know when that will be happening, but I seem to enjoy having one of these going. Plus, I think the rule changes I have in mind would make my posts less meandering.
Anyway, thanks for reading.

YOUR MUSE’S POKÉMON TEAM
A.K.A. Okie Dokie Loki’s Pokeys
Use this link to generate your team! Repost, do not reblog
Okay, so the leader of Loki’s team I wanted wasn’t actually available on the list? I mean c’mon guys, Serperior is so perf for Loki, look at this lil shit
But failing that, and there being no Seviper either, I picked a better known snek:
Arbok: Because of a certain snakey stabby trick Loki played on Thor.
Ditto: A fellow shapeshifter of trickery.
Mismagius: A ghost that’s all about the mischief with magic.
Weavile: A dark ice creature to reflect his frost giant heritage.
I actually also wanted this dude (Mightyena) because it has his hair ok
But I had to go for Malamar: nastily powerful pokey in the series whose specialty is mind control, as an homage to Loki using the Chitauri sceptre
Gengar: Tricksy cheeky meanie ghost because I wasn’t able to have this little sneaky invisible bug, Ninjask:
And finally bonus points if anyone can guess the reason for me picking this lil guy as Loki’s backup:
*waits for the wails*

oki-gengar replied to your post:It's happening again...
Living with anxiety doesn’t make you a weak person. It makes you strong. It doesn’t feel that way but it’s true.
I know. I do. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger". It's just scary...people see me sometimes and go, "aw, he's being quiet. Maybe he's shy." I'm not shy as much as I'm doing my best to contain my inner turmoil. It hurts...but I fight it. I may be afraid...but Im not afraid to face it. Not anymore...

---
The rain pours hard as you walk across the road. You’d hoped the weather would be clear this evening, but the world seems to be against you. Usually, you take the train home as it drops off right near your street. But on this occasion, you were taking a completely different route, one that had you traversing the streets of Little Italy.
Though there are many people around, you feel on edge as you walk. You have done for the past few weeks since you moved to this city. Every once in a while, you take a quick look over your shoulder, but nothing is amiss. You’re paranoid. They won’t be on this side of town. That’s why you’re here, remember.
You hasten your pace regardless, pulling your coat and umbrella closer to you as the biting wind forces the rain into your face.
By the time you get to Salieri’s, you’re practically drenched through. You dressed up especially nice for work today knowing you’d be coming here after. You wanted to look attractive, make a good impression- but that’s all gone to waste now thanks to the dreadful weather. You must look an image as you quickly rush into the bar, the door slamming behind you as the wind whips against it. Your wet hair flings up into your face from the force and you cringe. Oh yeah, you’re definitely going to make an impression alright.
You’re cheap shoes squelch against the floor as you move towards the older gentleman serving at the bar. It feels like all the eyes in the small space are on you- it’s suffocating. You blush. As you stand there, waiting for the barman to finish with a customer, you cross your fingers and desperately hope you’re not making a puddle on the floor with the water dripping from your coat. You look down. There’s practically a lake on the floor already.
You gawk at it, your eyes practically bulging out of your head. In a feeble attempt to get rid of it slightly, you swipe at it with your foot. You nearly break your neck as your foot slips on it. Thankfully, your hands latch onto the wood bar before you fall.
The sound of a throat clearing with badly hidden amusement brings your head up so fast, you feel like you’ve got whiplash. You open your mouth ready to speak, but you stop short. Instead of the elderly barman who has mysteriously disappeared, a man stands in front of you, a devilishly handsome one at that. Everything you were going to say slips through your mind like a sieve. You just stand there, staring at him with your mouth open. Could your night get any worse?
The handsome man raises his eyebrow at you, a small smile playing on his lips. “Can I help ya, darling?” Damn, he even sounds handsome too.
You try to speak. What you end up coming out with is a mix of a breath and a laugh. “I- I uh. I-I um.” His eyebrows raise further.
“Salieri!”
Fuck, did you really just do that? Shout at him?! From the slightly amused look on his face, yes, you definitely did just do that.
“Sorry” you quietly murmur, looking down at the wood just to avoid his eyes. A deep, breathy laugh resounds in your ears, bringing your head straight back up. He’s laughing at you. Usually, you’d be annoyed at someone enjoying your obvious embarrassment, but you can’t seem to stop yourself from smiling back at him.
“It’s alright…,” he gestures for your name “, Y/N.” He pauses, smiling slightly again. “Tommy. I’m guessing you wanna see Don Salieri then?”
“Yes! Yes, that’s what I’m here for. To see him… Don Salieri.” What the hell is wrong with you right now? You’ve never been this nervous talking to someone before. You forget your embarrassment for the time being though as Tommy smiles, nodding his head and pursing his lips.
“That I can do. May I just ask why you wanna see the boss?” He leans down slightly on crossed arms, bringing his face slightly closer to yours. You swear you can feel his warm, whiskey scented breath on your face but it’s more likely the warm air seeping into your cold flushed cheeks.
“I- I uh, need his help with something. Or his services should I say.” He nods, apparently pleased with your answer, then gestures for you to follow him.
“I’ll show you to his office.”
As you make your way through the bar and into the back rooms, you curl into yourself unconsciously, running your hand through your wet hair in a desperate attempt to control it. You feel out of place here. The men are dressed to the nines, in expensive tailored suits. The women are just the same, smoking high-end cigarettes in dazzling dresses. You look like a drowned rat compared to them.
In a sense, you feel like you’ve walked into the viper’s den. You’ve heard the stories. Seen the newspapers- these men are criminals. The one in front of you who has enraptured your attention is no doubt one too. This isn’t the place for you. Danger and illegal activities aren’t exactly your go-to hobbies. You’re here only because you’re desperate. So why are you suddenly very interested in the gangsta in front of you?
Tommy leads you up a set of stairs and to the right, pausing at a door. He looks back at you and must notice your terrified expression, as he releases a small, wispy laugh.
“Don’t look so petrified, yea? The Don’s only scary if you’ve done something wrong. Have you?” You shake your head hard in response. He nods. “Then you should be fine.”
He knocks and a strong voice from within grants entrance. Tommy opens the door, announcing himself.
“Boss, I’ve got a dame here to see ya. Says she’s in need of your services.” Timidly, you follow behind him, peering slightly from behind his back. You see the Don look up at you, a warm smile appearing on his face. You try to hide behind Tommy’s back again but he moves to close the door, leaving you in direct view.
You don’t move for a beat. It feels like a million alarm bells are ringing off in your head, screaming at you to leave this room and run away. You’ve never been in a room with a man of such power and influence, so your body's fight or flight response is going wild, favouring the latter option to the first. You finally move forward when you feel a hand press against the base of your spine, leading you towards the desk gently. At that moment, you’re very thankful Tommy is here with you even though you’ve only known him for less than five minutes.
“Don Salieri Sir!” You blurt, thrusting your hand up unceremoniously. You expect him to shake your hand but you’re shocked when he instead rises and grabs your hand with both of his own.
“Please dear, just call me Salieri. And don’t look too worried, I’m not as frightening as everyone makes me out to be.”
You hear Tommy let out a small drawn out “Well” behind you, but it goes unnoticed by Salieri as he crosses around his desk to come before you. His hand rubs the top of yours slightly as he does so.
“You’re freezing girl. Tommy, would you get the poor girl a coffee, please?”
“Sure thing, boss.” He leaves the room and you’re quite tempted to follow him, but you feel rooted to the spot under the Don’s intense, but intuitive gaze. He leads you to one of the couches and gestures for you to sit. You take your wet coat off as you do and he takes notice, offering his hand to take it off you.
“That’s not necessary-”
“Please. I insist.” You give it to him, albeit with a little reluctance. You rub your palms against the fabric of your dress, smiling slightly when he turns back towards you. Thankfully Tommy then re-enters the room, easing your nerves slightly. He places a small cup down in front of you, steam rising like a beacon. The aroma is too enticing for you to handle and you immediately reach for the cup, sighing as the warmth begins seeping into your cold skin. The two men laugh slightly at your reaction, making you blush as you blow onto the hot liquid.
Salieri sits opposite you, Tommy standing beside you. The latter must notice you shivering slightly now that your coat has been taken off as a sudden warmth envelops you, smelling like rich cologne and cigarettes. Tommy’s coat covers you like a blanket, incredibly long against your frame. You reach up and pull it around you tighter, looking up at him with a shy smile in thanks. He smiles back, this time with more softness than before.
“Wonderful idea, Tom.” You barely register Saileri’s response as you find yourself enchanted by Tommy’s golden eyes. It’s only as he replies, that you seem to snap out of your trance. “Just tryna help the lady boss.”
“So my dear. How can I help you?” Oh yeah. Right. You actually forgot for a moment why you were here. You look back towards Salieri, taking a sip of your coffee as you do so. You can feel it already beginning to warm up your body and sigh before beginning to speak.
“Well, where do I begin?” You let out a gentle, almost soulful laugh then continue. “I moved back into the city about a month ago. I’ve been away for a while because of an old job, but I’ve returned to look after my father. He’s quite ill, you see. I don’t think he has long left and I- I just want him to feel comfortable.” Salieri nods solemnly, eyes adrift. Tommy places his hand against your shoulder, squeezing slightly and you whisper a small thank you to him.
The Don looks at the hand on your shoulder for a second, squints, then returns his gaze back to you. You take a deep breath, sipping more of your coffee before continuing. “My father and I live in an area of mostly elderly folk. They can barely see 10 feet in front of them anymore, nevermind deal with any trouble. Because of that, there’s this little gang of goons terrorising my father and his neighbours. They know they’ll be able to get away with it.”
Salieri nods. “Have they tried anything with you?”
“Um, well. They uh. They cornered me a couple of nights ago and started,” you struggle to get the words out for a second and feel another comforting squeeze on your shoulder “, touching me, but luckily there were some police walking down the street. So they left pretty quickly. They haven’t tried anything since, but to be completely honest with you, I’m more worried about the elderly residents than myself.”
“That’s kind of you dear. Putting them before yourself.” Salieri nods to himself, lighting up a cigar as he does so. “ You’re wanting some protection then?”
“Oh please. I’d be happy to pay.” Salieri looks at Tommy again. You don’t know what passes between them, but the former nods rising from his seat. You follow him after quickly sipping the last of your drink.
“There’s no need. I’d be happy to help get rid of those punks.” You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding, bringing your hands to your chest in thanks. It feels like a great weight has been lifted from your body. Your father will finally be safe.
“Oh, thank you, Mr Salieri! I’m truly indebted to you for this!” The man in question shakes his head as he crosses round to you and grabs your hands again.
“Trust me, my dear, there is no price for this. These punks need to know that I run these streets and look after all who live in them,” he turns towards the door “, Tommy will drive you home. I would imagine the goons are usually out around about now?” At your nod, he moves to collect your coat.
“He will deal with them tonight then. As for you my dear, if you ever need anything else at all, whether it’s a job or some money… please don’t hesitate to come back and ask.”
“I will. Thank you, Mr Salieri!” At that, he gives you one last smile, then retreats back to his desk. Tommy ushers you out the office after collecting your coat from his boss, then leads you back down the stairs.
Before you reach the exit, you reach up to take Tommy’s coat off but his hand reaches out and stops you before you can do so. You look up and see him gazing at you with a warmth in his eyes.
“Please. Keep it on. You need it much more than I do right now.” You open your mouth to argue, but from the look on his face, you surrender and instead pull the coat tighter around you.
“Thank you, Tommy.” He nods, looking down, then pushes open the door. He reaches behind you and ducks you slightly, then you’re suddenly out in the rain again, rushing towards a building opposite. You keep your head low, trying to shield your eyes from the bullet-like rain. Tommy ducks you more, moving his other hand over the top of your head to shield you further. You feel your heart skip a beat at the kind gesture. No one’s ever been this kind to you before. Stop it Y/N, he’s part of the goddamn Mafia. You don’t need any more trouble.
You choose to ignore the rational part of your mind as you reach the cover of a garage, a beautiful dark blue Eckhart Elite waiting parked inside. Tommy shakes his shoulders slightly in an attempt to lose some of the rain on his jacket. He reminds you of a dog, making you giggle.
“You laughin’ at me, darling? After I just kept you dry from the rain?” You can’t help but continue giggling at his mock hurt expression. He shakes his head at you while he leads you to the passenger side.
“Maam.” He opens the door for you and actually bows. You try to retain a smile, but it breaks out easily on your face. You mock curtsy in return as you climb into the car. “Why thank you, good sir, you do know how to treat a lady well.”
You see his smirk as he shuts the door and jumps in the driver seat after leaving your wet coat in the back. Once the engine is on and he’s got your address, he drives out into the rain.
As you look out onto the road, reality comes crashing down around you, reminding you that you’re now stuck in a car with a criminal for the next 20 minutes. You take in a deep breath through your nose. Instead of calming your racing mind, it instead focuses your attention more on Tommy as you get a deep whiff of his smokey scent. Why not enjoy your time with him? He has been such a gentleman. For once, you can’t help but want to agree with your inner voice.
“Your boyfriend must be a coward if he’s not dealin’ with these punks for ya.” Your head shoots back to Tommy, confusion on your face. “What? It’s not that hard to send a message-”
“Wait, no. I’m not- I don’t have a boyfriend.” Tommy looks at you with genuine shock.
“You’re kiddin?”
“I’m telling the truth.” You shrug your shoulders as you look back out the window “Ever since I moved back, I haven’t really had time to date, what with my father and working. Well that and the fact I haven’t really found anyone I’m interested in yet.” Tommy doesn’t say anything back. You turn to look at him and find him looking at the road, but you can tell his mind is in a completely different place. He finally seems to come to his senses as he shakes his head, looking towards you. He actually blushes when he realises you were looking at him. To save him from the embarrassment, you start the conversation again.
“Well, what about you? Does any lucky girl have the privilege of calling you there's? Surely a man such as yourself wouldn’t be single.”
Another eyebrow raise. “A man such as myself? What’s that supposed to mean?”
Damn, you really need to think about what you’re saying around this man. “Um, well. Y’know. You’re uh… handsome. And you're very gentlemanly and kind. You’re tall too. And you have… Nice taste in cars.” Your rambling now. It’s only when you hear a deep laugh come from your driver that your embarrassment quickly disappears. Instead, you look at him incredulously, squinting at him in mock anger. He notices and laughs even harder.
“I’m glad you find my unfiltered mouth so funny Tommy.” You say it sarcastically, but you can’t help but smile as you speak. He breathes deep, looking down at the wheel then back up to you.
“I’m sorry. It’s cute seeing you get so flustered darling.” You know you’re blushing again, but thankfully the absence of light on the street hides your rosy cheeks. No one’s ever called you cute before. “As laughable as it sounds, I don’t have a girl right now.” Now you are in disbelief.
“Did you not just hear what I embarrassingly said about you? How could you possibly be single?!”
“Yea, I know, I know.” He shrugs, pursing his lips slightly. “I just… Haven’t found the right girl yet. There’s also not many women who wanna be with a guy like me.”
“Now why would you say that? It’s not your job is it? No wait, I know- you have some kind of weird hobby don’t you?!” You’re really taking the piss out of him now. And he knows it- you can see him silently laughing. He answers anyway. “Apart from being one of Salieri’s soldiers, my ‘nice taste in cars’ and my handsomeness, I haven’t really got much else to offer.”
“Oh please, there has to be more to you than just being a gangsta Tommy.”
“Maybe there is, maybe there isn’t- guess you’re just gonna have to find out.”
You don’t get to process his answer fully, as your mind suddenly blanks as he turns onto the main street that leads to your road. You spot the goons out of the corner of your eye immediately.
“Tommy, there! That’s them on the side of the road!” All traces of humour leave his face. He pulls the car in just in front of them and quickly gets out, slamming the door behind him. You follow him, jumping out into the rain. The goons having already noticed the expensive car were making their way over, but now that they’ve seen you, they quicken their steps.
“Hey sugar, haven’t seen you in a while. You been holding out on us?”
“Piss off.” You know it’s ‘unladylike to swear’ but you couldn’t care. You’re sick of these punks and with a gangsta at your back, you also feel fearless. The leader of the gang walks closer to you when you reach the sidewalk, but Tommy steps in front of you before he can get any closer.
“If you saps aren’t careful, you’ll end up in wooden overcoats.” The leader looks taken aback for a second. But then his confidence returns and he slowly walks towards Tommy, puffing his chest out as he does. His friends follow close behind.
“You brought your boyfriend sugar? It’s okay, he can watch. He can even join in at the end if he wants.” That’s apparently hilarious as the rest of the goons start laughing along with their leader. Tommy just gets more rigid. You can feel the waves of anger rolling off him and you know he’s gonna go for them any moment now. His tone is clipped and harsh as he replies “You fucks clearly don’t know how to treat a lady do ya?”
The leader’s laughter immediately stops.“Listen here pal. We know who you are- you’re one of Saleri’s washed up soldiers.” He spits on the ground at Tommy’s feet. “We ain’t afraid of you.”
“I don’t need him for this. Or anyone else.”
“Well then. Let’s see what you can do.” The leader swings for Tommy, but in the blink of an eye, he’s on the ground passed out. The rest of the punks pause for a second, thinking over their options before (stupidly) running towards you both, eager to get revenge for their leader.
Tommy quickly jumps into action, biding his time between them all as he begins taking them out one by one. You stand there shocked for a moment, disbelieving of what you’re seeing. He takes them out easily, his fists landing heavy blows that can be heard even in the roaring rain. As one of the punks tries to grab him from behind, you jump into action yourself. You reach for a brick on the ground and hurl it towards his head.
Somehow, it actually hits him with a large thud. He falls to the ground just behind Tommy, the man in question turning around to see what happened. He smiles at you in both thanks and appreciation, before ducking out of the way of another punch. From your short interaction with him, you fail to see a beefy goon run at you from the side, pushing you back into the car. You slam into the wing mirror with force, the wind rushing out of your stomach. You gasp and sputter into his face as you try to breathe, making him angrier. You attempt to push him, lifting your leg up aiming towards his crotch, but he spins you around quickly forcing you over the bonnet. As thunder belows through the sky, your answering scream can barely be heard.
You panic, flinging your legs out wildly. Somehow, you manage to kick his leg and he curses behind you. He flings you around again. You barely register a sudden sharp pain against your face before you’re falling to the ground. Agony radiates through your head, your ears ringing. Luckily, your arm blocks your head from hitting the ground, but you feel your hands and knees scrape the gravel.
You can’t move. The pain is clouding your thoughts. You can do nothing but lie there, breathing heavily as you wait for your senses to return. You feel hands grasp your shoulders, one of them rising to your face. You shrink back from it at first, but then the hand curls around your cheek, softly rubbing against a forming bruise. You look up into golden eyes and the world freezes around you. You feel safe. Comforted. As those eyes look at you with worry, you no longer feel the water soaking into your dress or the ache from the scratches on your skin. You can’t hear the thundering rain or the whistle of the wind through your ringing ears. You can barely even register your pounding hearbeat. All you can see, hear, feel… is Tommy. Those warm hands pulling you into a strong hug. The frantic beating of his heart from his solid but warm chest. Home. It feels like home.
“Y/N?! Y/N!? You okay, darling?!” You struggle to answer, overwhelmed by the emotions running rampant through your body.
Tommy rises with you pressed against him, pulling you into the open again. As you feel the full force of the rain again, the world centres around you and the chaos of the weather reigns over your senses once more.
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. Just a bit shocked is all.” You can hear how dazed you sound. Tommy looks down at you and curses. He pulls you back from the car, quickly opening your door and ushering you in. He turns around and runs around the car, getting in himself and quickly starting the engine. His hair is soaked and he runs his hand through it, trying to tame it before driving off. You just continue to look at him, unbelieving of the experience you just had. You ignore the bodies of the punks as he goes down the road towards your street. You ignore the body of the beefy goon whose head has practically vanished underneath a bloody brick. You can only focus on him.
“Do you have a first aid kit at your house?” You don’t hear him at first. It’s only when he looks at you again that you snap out of your reverie. He repeats the question.
“Yeah, yeah. I have one, it’s there for my father.”
“Your father ain’t the one I’m worryin’ ‘bout right now. I need to fix you up, your cheeks’ bleeding.”
It is? Your hand reaches up, stroking lightly. You feel a sting. Lo and behold, when you move it back, there’s a smudge of blood on your fingertips.
“That fucker was wearing rings. They cut your fuckin’ face!” Tommy is angry- really angry. Though your cheek is bleeding, you can feel that it’s nothing to worry about. You attempt to calm him down.
“Tommy, it’s fine. It’s just a-”
“That ain’t the point darling!” His fingers grip the steering wheel tighter, his mouth a grimace. You can practically hear his teeth grinding together. “I don’t like seeing women hurt. Especially y-” He suddenly stops talking. You look at him but he refuses to meet your eyes.
“Especially who Tommy?”
“It doesn't matter. We’re here.” He jumps out the car before you can say anything more, quickly running round to your door. You limp slightly as you get out, the grazes making your legs ache with the pain. Before you even know what’s happening, you're suddenly in Tommy’s arms as he runs up the driveway of your home. You open your mouth to protest, but his arms grip you tighter, pulling you just slightly more into his chest. Why not enjoy it?
Once you reach the door, Tommy takes your keys from you and swiftly opens the door, carrying you to the couch in your living room. He goes to retrieve the first aid kit after closing the door, while you struggle out of his now soaked coat. You leave it hanging over the side of the armchair facing you.
Tommy re-enters the room moments later, already routing through the kit. Thankfully, you only have the minor cut on your cheek and some grazes on your hands and knees from where you fell, so they only need to be cleaned and covered.
He falls into a crouch before you, unrolling some cloth as he does so. Neither of you speak as he adds a dab of alcohol to the material, the weight of the conversation in the car still hanging heavily between you. When he reaches up to start dabbing at your cheek, there’s no way of escaping looking at each other.
“Thank you Tommy. Not just for helping me deal with those goons. But for looking after me too.” He breaths deep, looking away from you as he adds more alcohol. He doesn’t say anything, so you continue. “I’ve never really had someone look after me like this before. Apart from my father, my experience with men is little to none.”
Tommy sighs, his hand dropping from your face. “Y/N, I-”
“Please. Let me finish.” You say it softly, almost a whisper. He purses his lips, but nods at you to continue.
“I know you don’t think you have much to offer. I also know that we’ve only known each other for a few hours. But the way you made me feel tonight Tom….” You shrug, looking down at your fidgeting hands. “I haven’t ever felt this way before- like someone cares about me.”
You pull at your fingers in your nervousness, but his hand stops you, gently holding your hands between his. He rubs slightly at your skin with his thumb.
“I’ve never really joked with another girl, like I did with you tonight. Usually, it’s my buddies takin’ the piss outta me. It was… nice.” You let out a scoff before you can stop yourself, swinging your face back up. Tommy looks off to the side with a reminiscent smile.
“Nice? That’s it?” He laughs quietly at your response. He looks into your eyes and you swear you can see the battle taking place in his mind through those pools of burnished gold.
“Fine. It was better than nice.” You nod, pleased and he just sends you one of his smirks, his eyebrow raised.
“You really impressed me when you knocked that guy out. You also scared the shit outta me when I saw you fall to the floor after that punk…” he breathes deep unable to finish his sentence. Unconsciously, your hand reaches out and cups his face. You can feel his day old stubble beneath your fingers as you slightly caress his cheek to comfort him. His own hand reaches up and covers yours.
“I ain’t ever been that worried about a dame before. It… scared me in a way.”
“What are you saying Tommy?” You ask, stroking his cheek gently.
“It ain’t obvious?”
“It is. I just wanna hear you say it.” You practically beam at him. He jokingly sighs, then leans forward tilting his head slightly.
“I’m saying Y/N, I think I wanna make you my girl.” You can’t help the wispy giddy laugh that escapes your chest.
“I think I’d like that Tommy.”
This is really not how you thought this night was gonna go. He finishes cleaning up your wounds, then covers them. You’ll have some explaining to do to your father tomorrow no doubt. Tommy rises to dispose of the stained cloth, walking to the door after helping you up from the couch. As he opens it, you suddenly realise you’ve left his coat on the arm chair. You turn to retrieve it, but his hand quickly grabs your wrist. You look at him in confusion but he just smiles michievlosuly.
“You can bring my coat back to Salieri’s tomorrow. I’ll return yours. Then I’ll take you out. To the pictures maybe. I might even get ya some flowers.”
Oh, he’s smooth. You shake your head and lean up, placing a quick kiss on his cheek. You can’t contain the giddy feeling that spreads through your body when you see the blush painting his cheeks. “It’s a date.”
He grabs your hand, bowing again and kissing it. “Until tomorrow then maam”. You jokingly curtsy back. “Goodnight to you sir.”
He smiles one last time, then turns, hurriedly walking back to the car. You wait under the shelter of your porch until he drives off, giddily spinning when you see him leave the road. If you neighbours can for some reason see you, you don’t have it in you to care. You’re in a bubble of happiness right now and nothing is going to burst it.
After locking your door, you walk to the couch and pick up Tommy’s coat. Even wet, his smell still clings to it and you can’t help pulling it up to your nose and taking a whiff. Just the scent alone makes you feel warm and safe. You bring it up the stairs with you, quickly checking in on your sleeping father, before going to your own room.
You leave Tommy’s coat to dry in the bathroom, touching it every so often as you get ready to go to bed. When you finally crawl between the sheets, you can still smell cigarettes and whisky.
As you fall into slumber, your dreams consist only of golden eyes and a warm embrace.

Okie dokes, this episode. When I first read the leaked summary and I saw the preview for it, my expectations were... um.... iffy? There were just some things I felt could go really wrong if dealt with incorrectly, but after seeing the episode myself, I have to say that it was... okay. Was it a bad episode? Not in the slightest. But was it perfect? Not even close, but nothing’s perfect anyways.
To help get a better understanding of where I’m going at, here are my overall thoughts:
1. Ash’s depression in this episode was, imo, not necessarily dealt with well. Compared to past depression sessions from his losses against the likes of Paul, Wulfric, and Napu, it was just kinda cringey with how subtle Ash is with it. In all those past instances, when Ash was depressed, it was still noticeable, but not in an overly-dramatic way. Heck, with all the “droopey” effects shown around the beginning when Ash was starting to get depressed, it was like they were trying to showcase his state in a comedic manner, which is just... no! If we want to take his depression seriously, then it needs to be done in a more-so serious sense, not in a way for people to laugh at.
2. Speaking of his depression, the reason why Ash was so down wasn’t that good either. Ash became depressed when his ranking reached back down to Normal after suffering two consecutive losses with Riolu. Much like with Bea, though, if you really look into it, it kinda seems he just took it was too seriously. One, his ranking barely went down that much and if he went that down by losing to two normie trainers, then he can easily go back up by beating two normie trainers with different Pokemon. Two, this is Ash we’re talking about. The same guy who, before Alola, lost six consecutive regional leagues (discounting the Orange Islands) when league victories was his primary goal. When he lost the Kanto League because of his sleeping Charizard, did he doubt himself as a trainer? No! He got up and kept going! Especially since now Ash has won a regional league (two counting the Orange Islands this time), with a new goal in mind, three simple loses shouldn’t be that much to bring him down. Three, as mentioned before, the two losses Ash suffered at the beginning were done with Riolu against two Pokemon with tentacles as a callback to their past lose against Bea’s Grapploct. Yes, it’s true Riolu is Ash’s youngest member of his team, so he needs more training. But Farfetch’d is also new and he lost as well, so about him? Plus, shouldn’t this be an eye-opener for Ash to train Riolu and Farfetch’d on his sides while using the already-powerful Pikachu, Dragonite, and Gengar to help build his rank back up? This is now all seeming like a bunch of missed opportunities now. (also I need to move on because this second point is now LOADED with words)
3. The goggles are back and that one gag with Sobble was pretty cute and funny. (though, how many times have they been to Hoenn now?)
4. Ash commanded Pikachu to use Thunderbolt on a Flygon... I could rant more about this, but I’ll save it for the next point.
5. Goh’s capture of Flygon. We all knew it was coming. How? The intro. But Goh having powerful Pokemon is not so much the issue. It’s just the way is was handled and much more. Ooooh boy, where do I begin with this? First off, because Ash’s mind was too lost in his previous losses, Goh was the one who took over for the battling this time. To get Flygon in their grasps, Goh actually incorporated many of Ash’s own previous strategies to turn the tide in his favor, like using Sobble to wash away the Sandstorm, using Raboot’s hearing to detect Flygon, and then having Raboot climb over Flygon’s Draco Meteor. One problem is this: When the hecks did Goh get so good? This is a far-cry from his previous battles when he mostly relied on booksmarts which perfectly contrasted from Ash’s on-the-fly strategy motif. Yes, Goh should improve, but seeing him be this good just feels too soon. Like his unseen victory over the Karate Master, it feels the writers are giving Goh too much credit without any proper development beforehand. Is he secretly training with Ash on the side? Does he take notes of Ash during his battles? We need at least SOME semblance of development, otherwise, it just feels wrong with all these achievements, and while I’m glad that he’s earning his captures for a change, giving him a Pokemon as powerful Flygon THIS EARLY with all what I said in mind just seems incredibly iffy. A perhaps better way of having him catch Flygon imo would be to start off incorporating strategies similar to Ash’s. Ash, instead of just sitting on the ground, SEES what Goh’s trying to do and gives him the tips needed to do stuff like climb Flygon’s Draco Meteor. Taking Ash’s advice in mind, Goh would defeat Flygon and catch it afterwards, thanking Ash for the tip and then asking him if he feels better, which Ash agrees to because helping Goh pull off his own tricks restored his battling spirit. And this brings up my last point...
6. The ending. Look, Ash and Goh are best friends and they’re supposed to always have each other backs, I get it. By the way things turned out at the end, especially with the framing, just seems off. Yes, I said framing. The way both trainers and Pokemon were set up with Goh kneeling over a sitting Ash and Raboot looking taller than Pikachu and Riolu while staring down at them just, imo, gives the interpretation that Ash and his mons should be the ones learning from Goh and his. Of course, with the next episode in mind, this is probably not the case, but it just seems wrong. Ash is a champion while Goh is still a beginner, so Goh should still be the one learning from Ash. Again, I’m probably thinking too much of this, but I still feel it should’ve been treated better.
7. While the effects were great as usual, I feel Ash’s battles at the beginning were a little on the slow side. Goh’s battle against Flygon was overall smooth, especially with the Draco Meteor part, but some parts kinda dragged for too long, like Flygon’s Dragon Rush.
Overall, not the best, but certainly not the worst. I’m glad Goh got Ash outta his depression, despite there being better directions it could’ve taken, but from what we’ve got, I’m fine with it. (plus, in a friend-zy sense, he handled Ash’s depression kinda better than Serena. Like, girl, I LOVE you to death, but throwing snowballs is now how you talk to depressed people) ‘Sides, next week we’re going back to Alola!! I know many fans have already said this, but LET THE CHAMPION TITLE BE KNOWN.

Pokémon Black 2 Randomized Nuzlocke Run [Part 4]
Going into the fourth badge with a full team of six! Rocking!
Here we are:
Puff (Dratini)
Sylarana (Serperior)
Stella (Poliwhirl)
Nessy (Milotic)
Itsy (Cubchoo)
Caspet (Haunter)
Looking like a real squad, guys. Lesgo.
The bridge is still out, so it’s out to the desert we go.
...Ah, it’s the anime hair scientist.
Colress. He invites us to a duel in the desert route.
...I thought it was a joke that this lady just keeps picking fights with me every single time I try to pass through the route, but no. No. That’s what really happens. Ugh.
I can’t remember if Colress is really a bad guy or just a driven scientist guy.
In any case, he has a level 21 Magnemite out first. Nessy is handling it since I have nothing to deal Electric pokemon really and Nessy has a ton of HP. And yay, that doesn’t come back to bite me.
Level 23 Klink up next. Nessy Refreshes and Recovers back to the health the Magnemite took. Taking too long to beat back the Charges, so Sylarana’s going to try to be helpful. And hey, that’s all it takes. Fight done.
Ack, I don’t think this is the sort of place I can do anything with without wireless and the like.
I love how so many business people in this world see a random ten-year-old and decide that they are the best person they could possibly ask for to manage their affairs while they run off doing whatever.
I’m just going to ignore this place and take advantage of the Pokemon Center past it.
Hello, we have a new route.
HELLO!
Oh.
Wait.
...Did I...
Oh crap. I took a break in between catching Puff, so I forgot all about buying poke balls. Aha. Okay then. Okay. We got this. It’ll be fiiiiine. I’ve got two more whole chances to make sure that it’s fiiine.
One try left.
Come on.
You know you want to be on the team, buddy.
...Fine, you don’t. Damn it. Dead route.
...
While we’re here adding injury to insult.
Sorry Sylarana. Maybe naming you after a dead snake from a fanfic was a bad idea after all.
Dead route and dead pokemon.
This is shaping up to be a pretty harsh run.
Okay. Poke Balls bought.
The outside of Desert Resort has Magmar.
I’m just going to casually avoid trainers in the rest of the Resort until I find the castle place, aka new route for new friend.
If only I were actually any good at avoiding trainers. So far I’ve fought two.
Okay, this time, we’re going to keep from losing anyone in the process of getting a new friend. Agreed? Agreed. Awesome.
Oh.
...No can do.
Poliwhirl is one thing, since Poliwhirl can still be Politoed, but I used a Granbull in my Elite Four battles in the first version. Can’t repeat that. Dang it.
Larvitar’s down here as well.
No Sylarana and an Electric Gym next. I need to find a new route.
Route 5, help me out here.
Bianca!
She gives us Fly!
...Do we have anything that can learn Fly?
She also introduces us to Hidden Grottos, which I had forgotten all about and don’t really mean much to Nuzlockes.
I’ll say hi to it. If it’s randomized, this is my catch option, if it’s not, let’s just call Hidden Grottos liminal spaces that don’t have real route significance.
Not randomized. Bye bye Minccino. Now we go explore the grass.
I have a Water team. Yike.
This thing is not proving easy to catch.
But catch it I shall! Your name shall be Frill, and please do not take it personally that I’m going to go to another route to find things.
Oh dear.
Boruto, I expect great things from you. Please do not disappoint.
Meanwhile the next thing I see on this route is an Emboar.
No offense, Boruto, but my journey to find a new route continues.
Help me Obi-wan Keforest. You’re my only hope.
...Don’t I need a Dusk Stone or something to evolve you?
Um. If it keeps using Charge Beam it’s going to kill Nessy.
I can choose to catch it, or I can choose to run.
...Wait, can I run when Bind is used?
No, no I can’t.
Um.
This is.
Distressing.
I feel like I’m watching Nessy die in slow motion.
Heeeeeeeeeey.
Omchomp, welcome.
Hm. I have some choices to make regarding me team, but first thing first, I’m going to raise Boruto a level. There are Basculin and Lampent where we caught him.
Soooooo.
Now there’s the question of what to add to the team. Ninjask is cool as heck, and I’m not opposed to using one. Shedinja is a delightful, chaotic choice for a Nuzlocke. Using both isn’t something I think my team could survive.
...Okay I can’t resist being that stupid. Shedinja, aka Sasuke. Alllll the way.
Sasuke is Sassy and proud of its power. Fitting.
This is such a dumb idea. I can’t wait to watch what happens.
Let’s see... Fire bad. Flying bad. Ghost maybe bad. Psychic maybe bad.
...Fine, so I know what each type is weak against, but not which types the combination spares or makes worse. Making this an even dumber idea than its initial inception made it appear.
We are so doing this.
tfw I finally am playing at a time that gets me on the Royal Unova! Yay!
Boy howdy do I hope they don’t have things that will kill me dead!
Level 16 Pidove.
I think I’m good.
I swear if a move has a possibility of making me flinch it is doing nothing but making me flinch. I cry.
Oki doki.
The team.
Grinding time.
Ha, so since they couldn’t very well complain about the next Gym Leader still not having the bridge open, this time you can’t go left of Nimbasa due to a crowd of happy people. Gah. Being closed in is a lot more annoying when you have a limited number of resources dependent in part on map size.
OH COME ON THAT’S BULLSHIT.
Sigh.
Sorry, Sasuke.
I’d like to say some words, but well. I always knew I wasn’t really equipped to handle such a gimmicky creature on my team, I just thought it would be funny to try. And that I’d last longer. It’s probably just as well, honestly.
...Sorry this is not the emotional farewell everything else is getting. But let’s be real, we knew this would happen, and I didn’t delay it long enough to get invested.
Also your name is Sasuke. We both knew what this was.
Boruto, welcome to the team!
Uh.
Okay, Giga Drain. Not Itsy’s friend.
Noted.
...Give me a break she was still in the damn green and aaaaaaaaaa.
I am not doing well this run, am I?
Go away I can’t catch you. ;-;
I am so sorry, Itsy.
I wish I could say more, since unlike Sasuke I actually like you, but.
This is hecking bad.
Omchomp gets on the team to fill up a slot. I’m not sure I have the resources to properly train her, and I’m collecting too many creatures who I’m not sure I can fully evolve for my tastes.
But that’s how Nuzlockes go, right? You work with what you have.
Back to grinding. Maybe stick more to wild pokemon than trainers.
Cool, Croagunk is also here.
...
Okay look.
I will admit to being a bad trainer.
But one Bite taking out a pokemon at full health is not generally a foreseeable circumstance when super effectiveness isn’t at play.
-clears throat-
STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
I am so sorry my friend. We will never know how if I might have succeeded in evolving you. That is a weight off my shoulders, but incomparable to the pain of no longer having you.
Ack.
What a mess.
I have to admit, part of me is hoping that I just wipe at this point. Starting over seems way, way simpler than this as it is. And then I ran into a trainer by accident, and the trainer has a lever 25 Watchdog.
Yeah, this will go well.
Eh, not well, but everything’s alive. I’ll take that. My mission at the moment is just training the heck out of Nessy, because she’s the only thing I can say with confidence probably can’t die to one hit from anything currently available.
Huh, I found an Audino. I’d guess I stumbled into wiggly grass without noticing. That’s cute, it’s actually where it’s supposed to be. ...Scratch that, enough of them are showing up that I’m wondering if it’s some time of day thing.
...So see, I have the problem of going on autopilot while I think.
...tfw Nessy is now level 34 and Caspet is 30.
Screenshots taken moments before disaster.
...Then there’s the return of Mightyena plus a Gengar. Not friendly grass, this. Maybe I need to pick another spot to train stuff.
There’s this one trainer here who won’t fight unless I have a Prop Case, which means I can’t avoid the Musical building forever. Well I can. But that would keep me from battling stuff, sooo.
Magnificent.
And random trainer beaten.
Now what.
Carnival rides to drown our sorrows.
Elesa built herself a new Gym. Her old one is now just roller coasters.
I should probably go to the actual Gym.
?
Ah. A random NPC to let us know that Elesa is in another castle.
Screw it, let’s go to the other castle.
...After finally checking out whatever this is.
Cool. Me and Rosa are going to fight the Subway Bosses. This is the only time this will ever happen in any Nuzlocke ever. Guaranteed.
Yay, we won against the level 26 Gurdurr and Boldore. Despite the horror that is Sturdy rearing its head once more.
Before I go to the Gym, I’m going to head out to the sportsball stadiums and have some fun. Hopeful, optimistic fun where nothing dies.
My solution to all problems now is to throw Nessy at them until they die. With a side of Caspet. The other members of my team are going to gain levels through Exp. Share only, probably. Omchomp is the only one that knows useful stuff and might live through first contact. Puff will one day be mighty indeed, but isn’t yet. Boruto... Boruto’s best move is arguably Leech Life.
Yay, Nessy and Caspet. You two are holding this team together.
That is not your cue to die.
To the Gym.
Ooooh, snazzy. Nicely arranged, Elesa.
She has a level 27 Elekid. Why don’t I have a level 27 Elekid. Or just an Elekid. Elekid is awesome. She also has a level 27 Flaffy. I want that slightly less. It is still of interest.
One mook down. Down the catwalk for another.
The level 27 Flaffy is first this time. Such variety. Then a level 27 Blitzle strikes.
This place has some dang style. Next up is same flavor with Blitzle and Elekid.
Elesa you are clearly amazing but what the actual heck are you wearing.
This is all going to be fine.
We know it’s true because I said so.
Level 28 Emolga out first. Caspet downs it with one Venoshock, then a level 30 Zebstrika takes the stage and panic is felt by all.
Oh lovely. It knows Pursuit. Not taking you out then, Caspet.
This has the makings of pain all over it, but I trust you.
Yay! Another Venoshock did it!
Last up is a level 28 Flaffy. Let’s finish this, Caspet.
Yes!
It was gory and scary, but we did it, gang.
Halfway there.

oki-gengar replied to your post:I hate coffee.....but I need caffeine.
That is awful. Also, how is your midterm weighted 50%?! Are there 0 assignments? The final can’t be weighted less than the midterm!
haha yes it is awful and there are no assignments. It's for one of my law classes (employment law) and there is one midterm and a final (both weighted 50%). 3 out of my 5 classes are like that this year and i have one class where attendance/participation is 20% and the final is worth 80%.
I've had these before and what i find works best for me is studying each week (memorizing that weeks lecture when it happens). That way when I go to study for the final I'm basically just reviewing what i know already. But ya still stressful because one big fuck up and you can fail the class.
