New job gave me so many red flags the first day that i already started looking for a new job lmao

Okay, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the AFO and Yoichi height thing.

My first thought: Oh, AFO must've be normal-sized at first, he just grew super tall because he lived for 200 years.

After I realized: Huh, I wonder if AFO just started stealing height related quirks after he realized Yoichi was starting to grow taller than he was.

I was reminded of the time that tumblr tried to make "monster high but with tumblr sexymen", and one of the characters was (obviously) the daughter of the once-ler.

And the funny thing to me about that is that in the canon of the illumination lorax movie, the once-ler is heavily implied to have an estranged daughter. I don't know all the sexymen off the top of my head but I think he might've been one of the only ones referenced in that trend who actually had a daughter in his own canon.

#Stupid shit #I'm gonna provide context in the tags for those who want it but I also like the idea of just leaving it there #Okay so for anyone who wasn't in the fandom: when people say the movie gave us no one to ship the Once-ler with they were LYING #The movie gave the Once-ler no MALE characters to ship him with - thus Oncest started #However - the second most popular Once-ler ship was between him and Norma #(Who - if you haven't seen the movie in a while - is Ted's grandmother who tells him about the Once-ler and how to find and barter with him #This was mostly just a ship born from theory and logical deduction - why does Norma know so much personal info about the Once-ler?#Were they perhaps friends? Lovers? In the past? Where was she in his life and at what points? When did she leave?#And people started making theories and shipping the two - primarily as past lovers. But there was art of them reconnecting for sure.#HOWEVER - this also meant that there was a theory that Ted's mom was also related to the Once-ler #As in - hmm this daughter of a very short fat woman is oddly tall and thin... hmmm #And so the running theory wasn't just that the Once-ler and Norma were once lovers - but that the Once-ler was also Ted's grandfather #Who was entirely estranged from the family due to self-exile and possibly bad blood between him and Norma at some point during his downfall #(I actually do think that it's funny that the Once-ler's youngest design purposefully draws some comparison between him & the Truffula tree #Only for the character theorized to be his daughter to also evoke some Truffula tree imagery in her design)#ANYWAYS that was a theory for about as long as the movie was out - Normaler (the ship) was a thing for as long (if not longer) than Oncest #And was present enough that there were like actively flame wars between the two groups of shippers #Like literally I directly remember this it's so insane to me that no one ever brings this up when talking about the shipping in this fandom #BUT THEN!!!! The Lorax comes out on DVD. The fandom rejoices and everyone takes pictures of themselves buying or holding the DVD.#If you dig far enough and I haven't deleted it yet you might find mine. I was in full cosplay wig and all.#Anyways - we have the movie in HD now!! No more cam rip footage!!!#And now we can take high-quality screenshots that truly show off the detail of the backgrounds in this movie #(The fandom loved to gush about how detailed and well-designed the movie's backgrounds were - that wasn't just a throwaway transition)#Only - what's this?????#In one of the shots at the end of the movie - we very briefly get to see the inside of the Once-ler's lurkim - like the living room #AND THERE - IN THE BACKGROUND - ONLY VISIBLE IN HD #IS A PHOTOGRAPH OF A WOMAN WHO SUSPICIOUSLY HAS THE EXACT SAME SILHOUETTE AS NORMA #Normaler fans rejoice and 'Grandpa Once-ler' theory is accepted into canon (or - more accurately - 'implied canon') by most fans #So yes - for those keeping track - while the evidence wasn't as concrete as it could have been #The Once-ler is implied to have been the father of Ted's mom in the movie

I’ve started riding Fjara to help my dad with her tripping (read: he likes to ride with a long loose rein and Fjara ends up tipping forward).

The first two times we were still getting used to one another, she’s still trying to gauge why the heck I’m asking her for turns and to do a few steps backwards and walk sideways a little.

Today I decided to take a different path around the farm and Fjara was particularly high in her energy, so when we turned to go back her back curled a little and her tempo went up…

And I’m sitting on her all impressed at the energy but also please don’t do a happy buck, I’m still getting used to how different you are from my regular horse 😅

#she’s a fun one!#I know that from like…the ground #now I’m learning it in the saddle #really gotta find my ‘grip’ so to say bc where Lilja is short and slight Fjara is tall and broad #I can’t even get on her without a step 😅#Lilja? no problem. I’m still convincing her that steps aren’t evil so I can get on better but y know #if there’s a problem and I need to get off I know I can also climb back on sort of gracefully #Fjara is a damn mountain! and broad!#and her saddle gives a lot less grip so to say #you can do a happy buck after a few more rides miss missy #but she is very sensitive and polite. she might want to return to Lilja buuuut she’ll still listen to my directions #has a good stop #loves praise for doing a good job #my dad doesn’t utilise that enough #yet #and her tölt and walk are asdfghjkl right now but I can get that back to some decent gaits #some groundwork and some more time under the saddle and a bit more help for my dad and she’ll be a-okay 👌👌👌#*myhorses #Fjara frá Skjálg #oh! and I rode Lilja bitless #she seems to love it and I love that #just gotta find the middle bit where she doesn’t just go lalala when she wants to go fast and I don’t #it’s not out of control but more like … well….lalala can’t hear you wheeeer #it’s a test for us to see if it helps her with tension #Lilja shows her teeth when in a faster gait and I’ve tried many bits and different things with my hands #I still get a ‘smile’#I’m also going to see if I can find a soft bit #and ask a bitfitter for advice #if anything just to rule out any discomfort in her mouth #there’s no bruising or anything that I can find

oh so now the birds are eating the <25 cherries i've got growing on my tiny tree

literally everything i've planted in this fucking garden has either died on its own or has been killed by birds/bugs

#my garden is a microcosm of my whole life right now #my life has been on a downward spiral since last july and bestie i am starting to reach my fucking limit #defaulting to thinking ''i wish i were dead'' at every little inconvenience is BAD!!!! i know!!!! but it's true!!!#the mint from trader joe's was infested with aphids and i've been cleaning it off every day for 2 weeks and it's STILL got them #like... this plant is 1 foot tall with two little stalks and less than 30 leaves. it hasn't grown in the 2 months i've had it #the money plant still reeks of mold and has to live outside because of its smell and the fungus gnats #the golden sage just fuckin.... burned to death????? it turned gray and DIED #the one and only bean plant that sprouted just ejected the only 2 true leaves it bothered growing #the originally robust blackberry cane is withering. the other two did get better but started from the ground up. there's 1 blackberry total #the rosemary hasn't gotten any bigger in the 3 months i've had it #the scotch brooms don't look so good. the salvia haven't gotten any bigger in 3 months and the creeping phlox bleached and died #the thyme is doing okay and the culinary sage is hanging in there but i don't have high hopes #not a single fucking wildflower sprouted in the yard. i used 2 bags of seed+mulch that was supposed to cover 600sq ft (the yard is 400)#the mourning doves ate a bunch of the seeds and the rest never sprouted #there's a few puny sunflower sprouts but the cottontail came and ate some of those leaves #the cottontail also ate an entire stalk of the potted mystery flowers #the huge plant i moved in November... the one that surprisingly survived frost/freeze... can't handle the heat and is now dead #i just...#the job market is awful. the salaries are worse. the neighborhood is in the middle of nowhere and inhabited by paranoid cops #everyone has big dogs who go apeshit when they hear ppl walking #and the fences are short and the dogs are big so i'm scared to go walking because EVERY. DAY. on the nextdoor app are people #announcing that they found a dog wandering the neighborhood. or ppl saying ''omgggg my dog got out of the yard! have u seen it?''#spring was all wind/gusty and it battered the blackberries and sucked all the moisture out of the yard #so the 2 tons of compost that we rototilled into the dirt? it's just dust now. there's nothing living in that soil #and now summer is here and it's too hot and these plants don't have a chance #i hate everything

Okay, AFO is tall because he got Yoichi's nutrients, but now I'm wondering how tall he could be. He was clearly malnourished as a child and yet, he grew to be like 7'4 (over 2 meters). So, either his childhood somehow had 0 impact on his height, or he could've been like 10 ft (3 meters) tall if he had his nutritional needs met.

#okay maybe 10ft is an exaggeration but I do wonder how tall he and Yoichi would be #and also how short he would be if he didn't steal the nutrients #I root for the average male height in Japan 'cuz you ain't special #all for one
