Soulmates were a phenomenon. They'd been there for ages, drawn into the Egyptian tomb paintings, seen in the cave paintings from millions of years ago, talked about in stories passed down from generation to generation. They could be matching drawings, first words, names; all black before the soulmates met and turning gold the moment they talked to each other. There wasn't a scientist in the world who could explain the phenomenon.
You'd received your mark at birth just like everyone else, a sentence running around your wrist,
"No fucking way."
Your parents weren't that happy when you asked at the age of 4 what "fucking" meant but it wasn't that bad. You were happy that you had something unique, something other than the "Hi," or "Excuse me," that was on every other arm.
When you were 13, a little girl on the train pointed to your wrist and asked her mom what it meant. Ever since then, you'd taken to wearing bracelets over it. This had turned out to be a good idea because a few years later you started making Youtube videos. At the age of 16, you started a Youtube channel where you focused on a variety of things; makeup, fashion, games, art, skits and a whole lot more.
At the age of 20, you had a steady following of a little more than a million subscribers, and you had moved to LA to be closer to all your Youtube friends. You hadn't just grown on Youtube, you'd also started a lot of side projects. You were known for the art that you did on the side, along with the makeup palette you'd come out with a year ago. Soon you were planning to release a merch collection, one that you had been working on for a whole year now.
You hadn't met your soulmate at this point but honestly, you didn't really mind. Balancing Youtube and study (along with all your other side projects) was hard. There was no need to add the struggle of love into it... Or that's what you told yourself anyways.
There were days though, days where you wished you had someone to hug, someone to cuddle in bed with, someone to go on long walks with. You didn't let yourself wallow on it that long though. Crying about it was gonna do absolutely nothing.
It started on a rainy day. The story of you and him. You were editing your soon to be uploaded video, an e-girl outfits lookbook, which had been requested by your followers. Your personal style was all over the place and your previous soft girl and cottage care look books had done well, so you decided to continue the series.
You eyes blurred as you looked at the same point of the video, and you sighed, removing your glasses and rubbing your eyes. Your editor was sick and had let you know that they wouldn't be able to edit it by the deadline so here you were, editing it yourself. You stretched in your chair letting out a yawn. You were contemplating on whether to make coffee or not when your phone pinged.
"Nooooo" you whined when you noticed it was on the coffee table that was just a little out of your reach. Stretching your foot out, you tried to grab it between your toes and then sighed when the phone fell.
"I have zero luck, I swear" you muttered to yourself, bending to pick up the phone.
The text was from Rae, asking you to join a game of Among Us. You and Rae had been friends for a bit now, which all started when she came across your art and decided to order something from you. You had chatted and clicked immediately, immediately becoming fast friends. Ever since the lockdown started, she often asked you to join in on Among us games and your friendship had really grown over these past few months.
You sent a quick "sure!" and then went to your table, waiting for the PC to turn on. Quickly tweeting out that you were streaming, you opened up Youtube and turned on the stream, saying a quick hello and letting them know what you'd be doing.
"Rae just invited me guys, I don't really know who's there," you mumbled, replying to a comment asking you who you were playing with.
You squinted your eyes, joining the voice chat and then opening your phone camera to quickly check that you didn't look horrible. Sure you didn't really care about how you looked but it was always good to check that you didn't have anything stuck between your teeth before you turned on the camera.
There was already a conversation going on, between who you thought was Corpse and Sykkuno, judging by their voices.
"Yeah I could totally do that. Get a cat and name it Bingus. I wonder if th-"
You gasped when you heard what they were talking about and unmuted yourself immediately yelling "PRAISE LORD BINGUS" and effectively shocking everyone in the chat.
A moment of silence and then Rae yelled: "OH MY FUCKING GOD Y/N, YOU SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME."
You giggled as everyone groaned and whined, saying hi as they realised who it was. You had played with Sykkuno and the others a few times before but you'd never met Corpse before. You'd heard his voice though, as he was trending on twitter constantly over the past few weeks. Once they all quietened down, you realised Corpse hadn't said anything. Since you knew everyone else in the lobby, you introduced yourself, wondering if you'd scared him a bit too hard.
"Hey Corpse, I'm Y/N from Y/C/N, its so nice to finally meet you," you said gritting your teeth at you awkward introduction. For a second there was no response and then three words were said that made your jaw drop to the floor.
"No fucking way"
He had whispered it, obviously still in shock, and your eyes widened in surprise as a tingle spread all over your body. So this was what everyone meant by "you'll just know," when you asked them about how you would recognize your soulmate.
"Holy shit" you thought frozen in your seat.
Never had you been more glad that you hadn't turned the camera on yet.
"Uhhhh-" you started, but stopped now knowing what to say.
What the fuck were you supposed to do now.
"Wha- Whats wrong?" Rae asked after a moment passed.
Corpse cleared his throat and started "Its um, shes my -" and you cut him off, heart beating in your chest.
"Nothing. Its nothing." you said talking over him. "Who else are we waiting for Rae?" you asked joining the lobby quickly and choosing red as your colour.
"Uh one more person," she said slowly, still a bit confused.
"Oh awesome!" you said fake enthusiasm prevalent in your voice. "So Sykkuno," you started, wanting to keep the conversation going. "How's Bimbus doing?"
Sykkuno launched into a story of Bimbus and you blew out a sigh of relief, mind still numb over the revelation.
Corpse was your soulmate.
The guy who had literally went viral the past few weeks was your soulmate.
You'd finally found him.
You heard Rae cut Sykkuno off, telling everyone she was starting the game and muttered a "Thank god" when the words "CREWMATE" appeared on your screen. You would not have been able to play imposter at the moment, your mind pretty much stuck on the fact that Corpse was your fucking soulmate.
Heading down to admin, you realised you hadn't said anything yet to the stream so you quickly turned on your cam, saying a quick sorry to the viewers.
"Sorry guys, I forgot to put the camera on," you smiled focusing on card swipe.
"I hope everyone's been okay, I know this was quite sudden, but Rae invited me and I was like why not you know," you said rambling as you moved to comms and did the task there.
Lights were called and you moved to electrical, arriving there just as Leslie fixed them. You moved into the back of electrical doing the three tasks you had there when Sykkuno suddenly came in and went straight to standing on top of the vent.
You giggled already knowing his trick.
"Okay guys," you mumbled watching Sykkuno wiggle on the vent. "do we trust Sykkuno or not?"
"You know what," you said making a split second decision. "Its the first game, we might as well."
Joining him on the vent, you stilled for a second and then breathed a sigh of relief when he didn't automatically kill you.
"See, what did I tell you guys huh?" you question smiling straight at the camera. "I knew Sykkuno could be trusted."
You decided to follow Sykkuno going into reactor with him and starting 'Simon says' and just as you were on the last part, a body was found making you let a whine out.
"Guysss," you whined to the camera as Rae started talking about how she had found Daves body in admin.
"Um, I havent been in admin since the start of the game," you said, "also I can clear Sykkuno, for the last part of the round, he's been with me since lights went out."
Sykkuno confirmed it, "Yup that's right, also I can hard clear Y/N cuz guess what? She stood on the vent with me and none of us died."
Everyone chuckled as he said "Thats good enough for me."
"Uh, I was in navigation mostly." said Lily.
"Poki, can I just ask what you were doing?" said Sean, an undercurrent of mirth present.
"Me?" asked Poki speaking for the first time. "What was I doing?"
"You weren't doing any tasks, you were literally just walking from one side of medbay to the other when I peeked in."
Poki started laughing, trying to get her words out at the same time.
"Okay so-" a giggle. "okay okay- I was just, I was trying to um do the beep test," she said finally breaking down and making everyone else laugh as well.
"What the fuck?" you said, laughing at the image in your mind.
"My chat told me to do it last game so I decided to do it now, I was literally just playing around," she said finally, adding "I swear I'm not imposter" at the end.
"Hmmm," you hummed, bringing a hand up to stroke your chin. "Are you sure it was last game Poki... hm...."
Giggling at Poki indignant "YES it was last game", you quickly skipped voting like everyone else as the timer went into the last ten seconds.
Humming a tune under your breath, you went back to reactor, taking a minute to carefully do Simon says and then moved to the other task counting out one two three as you pressed on the numbers. Humming, you moved out of reactor, only to come face to face with Corpse. You paused for a second, and then moved ahead, refusing to show anything on camera. For some reason he followed you as you went to storage, looking at you while you did the trash.
"Why is he just staring?" you mumbled, biting your lip. God, you really didn't wanna think of him right now. You started walking to shields, him still walking with you when lights were called and not a second later a body was reported.
Suddenly there was screaming your ears as Toast and Rae both started accusing each other.
"Wait- Wait WAIT" yelled Poki trying to get them to stop. "What happened?"
"I'll explain" declared Rae, not letting toast get a word in. "We were in navigation okay, me, Toast and Leslie. Lights went out, and suddenly a report buttons there. It's either Toast or someone came in just as lights went out and killed but that doesn't seem likely because I didn't see anyone anywhere near us at all. Anyways I'm fucking telling the truth guys, its Toast, he's the one who did it."
"Toast, do you have anything to say for yourself?" asked Corpse, his voice making your insides shiver.
"Holy shit, this is my soulmate", you thought for the fiftieth time.
"Uh yeah," replied toast. "I didn't do it."
Everyone laughed as he continued.
"Like seriously, I wouldn't do anything like this because it'd be a stupid move from my own part, and I think Raes smart enough to not do this as well. I think someone else came in just as lights went down and killed immediately, which to be honest, was pretty smart of them."
"Okay so I can clear Corpse," you cut in noticing the timer was close. "he was with me in weapons when it happened, he wouldn't have had time to go all the way up, or even vent there because we were literally walking in."
"Yup that's right," confirmed corpse.
"I'm in cafeteria" said Poki.
"Yeah, I saw her on my way to weapons," said Sykkuno, "and I'm in weapons right now,"
"I'm in lower engine" said Sean, and Lily said she was in reactor.
"I think it's Toast," you mumbled and then rose your voice to talk over everyone. "Look okay fine, maybe he said it was a stupid move and he wouldn't do it but maybe he did it for that exact reason. He thought he could get away with it because no one would expect him to do something like that."
As the timer started going down by 10, you voted for Toast and it turned out 3 had skipped the vote while five had voted for him.
damn.
"Guys you actually voted for him?" you said in a high voice, re-enacting one of Sykkunos most said lines.
You heard a "oh for gods sake" from Rae before everyone went silent and you giggled as you moved back down to weapons to do your tasks.
You finished all your tasks and decided to go to security to check where everyone is. Humming as you moved through the electrical hallway, you narrowed your eyes as Corpse came out of electrical and went towards storage. Quickly ducking in you didn't see a body so you headed back out, going into cams and gasping as you saw the body. Reporting immediately you were shocked to see the four kills that had happened. Now only you, Corpse, Sean and Rae were left.
"Oh my god," you mumbled confused. Either there were still two imposters, and Toast wasn't the imposter or the imposter literally killed and did nothing else. Now either that could mean that its definitely Rae if Toast wasn't the imposter, or that it was Corpse as the only imposter left. That was a bit weird though becuase he could have totally killed you at the start of the game. You didn't suspect Sean at all.
"What the fuck?" mumbled Corpse, and Rae made her animal noises expressing her shock.
"Okay," you said taking charge and relaying the kill and your theory to everyone. "So either it was Toast and there's only one other imposter, who is Corpse. Or Toast wasn't an imposter and there's two of them left. I-" you took a deep breath in at the end, very confused. " I don't know anymore,"
"I think its Corpse as well,"
Corpse who hadn't said anything up till this moment suddenly started stammering out "hey-hey uh let-lets not gang up on me okay. It's not-"
"No, wait, its because Y/N said you came out of electrical right, and I saw you in upper engine literally a bit ago and you went down. I went towards cafeteria so I don't know exactly where you went but its totally possible that you killed."
You voted form him after that, convinced it was Corpse, and the other followed quickly.
"Guys what the fuck, at least give me a chance to explain my self" he whined when his body was thrown off the ship seconds later. You cheered when the "VICTORY" sign was displayed across the screen, bringing up your chat and laughing at Toast as he pretended to be angry at me.
"That was a great round, good work Y/N"
"Thankyou" you mumbled staring at your chat. You were confused when you saw the absolute influx of messages on there, and you were barely able to read them because they were going so fast. You scrolled up, and read through the few of the messages;
"You've made corpse sad."
"Corpse has literally been so quite since you came in, can you leave."
"Omg stop with the hate messages, its not her fault if corpse isn't talking to you"
"are you his ex or something? What was that reaction at the start?"
"what did you do? Corpse literally hasn't said a word since you came in."
"Um..."
Corpse POV
Corpses heart stopped for a minute, his breath catching. The words on his wrist glowed gold, and he stared at the little red character standing there.
This person was the reason that he had "PRAISE BINGUS" stretched across his wrist.
They were the only reason that he had searched "Bingus" on google for all of his life. The only reason Corpse knew about the meme before anyone else was because he was constantly monitoring the word online. Ever since March, he had been waiting with bated breath, anxious that he could meet his soulmate at any moment. and here you were.
For some reason, he had never expected that he would meet you in among us, or while he was on stream. He always thought it'd be someone outside. It was a bit stupid in hindsight as all he did nowadays was play among us.
He heard you introduce yourself to him but the only thing that came out of his mouth was “No fucking way”.
Immediately after he wanted to slap himself.
“Idiot” he thought to himself. “At least try to make a good impression.”
When Rae asked what was wrong, heat sprung to his cheeks as he started revealing that they were soulmates, but Y/N cut him off, saying that it was nothing.
Corpse’s heart sank a little then.
'Maybe she’s just a private person,' he reasoned with himself.
'I shouldn’t have tried to say it on stream either. God, I’m a fucking idiot, if I said it, literally everyone would know and not only would I have hated the attention, she probabaly would have as well.'
Convincing himself that she was right, he reassured himself that it wasn’t because of him. She wasn’t revealing it because she probably didn't want all the attention.
For some reason though, his heart sank even more when Y/N didnt talk to him, instead talking to sykkuno about his dog. Like sure he could understand not wanting to reveal they were soulmates but shouldn’t she at least wanna talk to him? At this point he wouldn’t even mind if she talked about his voice like everyone else.
He groaned when the word "Imposter" came across his screen, his and Toasts character standing together. He was not in the right mindset right now to be able to be a good imposter. Breathing in deeply he continued in the game, with the first round passing by quick. The second round, he saw Y/N and stood with her for a bit wondering if he should kill her. Her red character moved to weapons and he sighed moving the mouse over the kill button. Just as he was thinking of clicking a body was found. Corpse swore as Toast flew off the ship. Deciding he needed to speed it up he killed four people in the round, hissing when the meeting was called. The moment Y/N accused him, he knew it was over. He didn't even bother defending himself much, just hoping the game would end soon.
When they were in the lobby, he quickly told everyone that he was going to leave because his internet was acting up. Turning off the stream after saying a quick thank you to everyone, he leaned back in his seat breathing through his nose.
What the fuck was his life.
Even his soulmate didnt want him. Honestly, he should have expected this. Abandoned at 12 with no one around him, why did his expect his soulmate to even give a fuck about him. Tears pricked his eyes and he blinked trying to get rid of them. He breathed in deeply, grabbing the water on the table and taking a big gulp. He had never hated himself more than he did right now. Why couldnt he have an easier life.
“Why cant I just fucking be NORMAL” he yelled throwing the empty bottle of water at the wall.
Throwing himself into bed, he scrunched up his eyes, hoping that sleep would come today, not noticing as his phone lit up with a single message.
Your POV
You stayed for another game and then ducked out apologizing and making an excuse up.
"Sorry it was such a short stream, everyone," you said pouting at the camera. "It was fun though so hopefully I get to do it again." Waving goodbye, you turned off the camera and leaned your head back staring at the ceiling.
What the actual fuck.
Grabbing your phone, you stared at it for a bit. Everything that you had pushed to the back of your mind in the game, was suddenly in the forefront.
The only thing you knew about Corpse was that he had a really deep voice, he narrated horror movies, and he maybe did music?
'Rae mentioned that once right?' you thought to yourself.
You unlocked the phone and then locked it again, too scared to actually do anything.
Unlocked.
Locked.
Unlocked.
Locked.
"Oh get a grip," you muttered to yourself, opening the phone and sending a text to Rae.
‘Hey Rae, do you have corpses number? Do you mind sending it to me, I need to tell him something.’
A reply came in a minute,
‘umm, why. he's pretty private so idk i don't rlly wanna give his number if he doesn't want someone to have it’
You sighed, and decided you might as well tell her. You knew Rae wouldn't betray your trust.
‘He's my soulmate’
Immediately a ‘AHDJHAKJKAGDAK’ came as a reply and you giggled at the string of emojis after it.
‘Don't tell anyone,’ you sent quickly, trying to calm her down.
‘Okay okay, its XXX - XXX - XXXX, ASHAGDH IM DYING OMG. GO TALK TO HIM.’
Biting your lip you added Corpse into your contacts hesitating before putting a small black heart next to his name.
"Already simping," you mumbled under your breath, hands hovering over the keyboard as you struggled to think of what to write.
You finally decided on 'Hey, its Y/N, can I call?' thinking that something short would be the best way to go. Hand hovering over the send button, you sucked in a breath and pressed it, waiting with bated breath.
A minute passed.
And then five.
And then, without you even you realising, it'd been half an hour of you just looking at your phone.
An hour later, you were slumped on your desk, eyes closed and snoring lightly, the phone still open, the message you sent lighting up the screen.
tbc.

hi!! could i get double chocolate and cherry with kaminari, shinsou and midoriya please?❤️
idk if i did this right so im sorry if i didnt!
to anon: hey anon, no worries! you did it perfectly :)) aww i love the characters you chose for this prompt, this is adorable. enjoy some fluffy times with these sleep deprived boys from a very sleep deprived writer <3
warnings: none! just some swearing and some bad sleeping habits lmao. reader is gn!
prompt: denki kaminari, hitoshi shinsou, izuku midoriya scenarios + “it’s okay, i couldn’t sleep anyways.”
denki kaminari
denki stays up late playing osu and minecraft
what can i say, he’s just a gamer man
so he’s honestly pretty reliable when it comes to you knocking on his door at late hours of the night
always the biggest cuddle bug, really happy that you go to him first out of everyone
literally drops everything for you hehe
lots of sleepy kisses too
“fuck! goddammit,” denki grumbled, shaking out his wrist as he had just failed the six star version of the intro of blend-s on osu. he had gotten rather addicted to the circle clicking game. this further resulted in denki staying up late on school nights, despite kirishima’s warnings of him potentially falling asleep in class the next day. it was fine, he could always borrow notes from you or jirou anyways!
as he went to restart the map again, a soft knock came at the door to his dorm room. spinning off his computer room chair, he prepared himself to be lectured by aizawa for the fifth time this week about breaking curfew. “aizawa-sensei, i know that i’ve been loud lately but i swear this time it won’t happen- y/n?” he stopped mid-sentence as he saw you standing on the other side of the door. “what are you doing up so late?”
you shook your head, immediately hugging his torso instead. you were clearly a bit distraught about something, but denki wasn’t a mind reader. he figured that from the way you were clinging onto him, it must have been a bad dream of some kind. “hey, hey, easy there! nearly knocked me over, huh,” denki laughed lightly, pressing a soft kiss to the side of your head before closing the door behind you. you clung onto him, face buried in the crook of his neck. it made a small blush dust across his cheeks, a warm feeling spreading through his arms as he held you close. “i hope i’m not bothering you,” you mumbled, to which denki hummed. “you never bother me, babe. it’s okay, i couldn’t really sleep anyways.”
the two of you stayed like that for a long while, denki swaying the two of you back and forth. you could feel gentle lips peppering the crown of your head with kisses. as your heart rate slowed, denki piped up. “wanna stay here for the night? my bed’s missing out on some action! and by some action, i mean sleep. i really can’t sleep.”
you snorted at his words, your eyes flicking up to his goofy yet endearing smile, his eyes bright yet a bit tired from late night gaming. he poked his tongue out at you, making you roll your eyes with a tiny smile of your own gracing your features.
“how could i say no to that?”
hitoshi shinsou
we already know he’s up at these unholy hours
not for any particular reason, just because he can’t really sleep
quite the insomniac that one
and the fact that he can’t sleep properly or well unless you’re with him
you smell like lavender in the morning too bc he puts it in his pillow to help him sleep, thank you
shinsou lay awake in bed, eyes trained on the ceiling as he waited for himself to fall asleep. it was no secret that he barely got any rest, so it was simply easier to just sit and wait until his body exhausted itself to the point where he simply fell asleep. staying as still as he could, he kept counting the amount of times he breathed in and out. it made him acutely aware of his surroundings. the crickets outside his room, the way the moonlight streamed through his blinds, the miscellaneous creaking sounds of the dorms. yeah, he definitely wasn’t sleeping tonight.
he didn’t flinch as the door to his room opened, blinking slowly as his eyes adjusted to the light spilling into his room along with a new figure. “y/n?” he asked, not bothering to sit up. “hey, are you up? sorry toshi, i couldn’t sleep,” you explained softly, allowing the door to close behind you as you tiptoed across his dorm room. his hair was sprawled across his pillow, deep violet locks hiding his hands situated behind his head comfortably. it showed off his arms that were built from training for when, not if, he ever got into the hero course.
a lazy smile crossed his lips at your words, his heartstrings being played by you so seamlessly. “it’s okay, i couldn’t sleep anyways,” he replied with a tilt of his head towards you. he moved over a bit in his bed as to give you space to lay down next to him. you crawled beneath his comforters, inhaling the scent of lavender as you did. apparently shinsou had said that the smell helped him fall asleep easier. strong arms wrapped around your waist, encasing you in a protective embrace as your head rested comfortably against his chest. the comforter was thrown over the two of you. you felt so much safer already.
his large hands were placed on your lower back, his thumbs drawing lazy circles on your skin as his breathing began to relax noticeably. hiding your smile, you cuddled closer to him. to this day, you had never seen shinsou fall asleep so quickly since that night.
izuku midoriya
baby is up studying for a test that’s in like 2 weeks
either that or he’s on an all might video spree on youtube and no that is not the first time this has happened, it is certainly not the last
he has so many stuffed animals in his room probably, like he just has them stuffed in his closet
the all might plushies stay on the bed tho
his cuddles are unmatched tho, change my mind
izuku was pacing around his room, vocabulary words spinning about his mind as he counted them on his fingers. he was mumbling definitions to himself, going over all of them in his head before referencing his notebook to make sure nothing went wrong. amidst his ramblings, a knock at the door made him jump to attention. “come in?” he called out, watching intently as he saw you come into view. his face showed relief, grateful to know it wasn’t aizawa or kacchan complaining about his incessant pacing.
“would it be alright if i sleep here tonight? i’m worrying about my grades and stuff again,” you rubbed the back of your neck with a small smile, trying to play off your question as relaxed as you could. it wasn’t exactly a secret that you had a crush on the boy in front of you. he was kind and humble, wanting to help as many people as he could despite all the circumstances that had the world against him. it was admirable. even now, he looked so concerned from the clear lack of sleep you’ve been getting these past few days. “of course you can sleep here. ah, wait! i have to, ah,” he stumbled over his words as you looked to the bed to see not one, not even two, but four all might stuffed toys on his bed.
“oh.”
midoriya’s face erupted with crimson, shoving the plushies into his closet as he sputtered out various excuses as to why they were there in the first place. when he turned back to you, you were giggling. not at him, but because of the entire situation in general. “you’re adorable, izu,” you told him gently. a light feeling bloomed in his chest upon seeing the smile you held for him. you looked so undeniably beautiful to him, the way your hair was a bit messy and how you stood in your pyjamas. while others, including yourself, would find that you looked completely normal, midoriya loved seeing you be so casual, so comfortable around him.
“you’re sure i’m not interrupting you, though?”
midoriya returned your smile with his own, stepping forward to intertwined his scarred fingers with your delicate ones. “it’s okay,” he murmured softly, holding your hand as if you were the most precious thing in the world to him, “i couldn’t really sleep anyways.”

healing (sirius black x reader)
requested by anon “hey honey, could you do one sirius x reader with 40, 50 and 83 from ur prompt list? :)”
summary after sirius gets injured during an intense full moon, you have to help patch him up, and maybe patch up some other feelings on the way.
warning swearing, angst, blood and injury mentions, kinda long
o hey i do writing prompts,, those used in this fic will be in bold
gif cred belongs to @softtroublemaker
“you’re okay, mate... you’re okay.”
remus was already fast asleep in his bed after an exhausting full moon, but the other three marauders were wide awake. sirius was propped against the chest at the end of his bed, one hand on top of james’s, applying pressure to the gushing wound on his stomach. his eyes were squeezed shut and teeth gritted, wondering where the hell peter had gone.
"where the fuck is peter?!” he gritted out, sucking in a sharp breath directly after the words left his mouth.
“he’s getting y/n,” james said quickly and dismissively.
“what?!” sirius demanded, head shooting up from where it was rested.
“listen!” james exclaimed. “i know what happened the other day, but she’s the only one who knows her way around medicinal shit, okay?” sirius just squeezed his eyes shut and let his head loll back again.
“i can’t.”
“what do you mean you can’t?” sirius scoffed as you crossed your arms definitely. he shook his head as you closed your eyes. “you and that hufflepuff kid broke up three months ago. you’re seriously telling me you feel nothing? that you broke up with him for fun?”
“that’s not what im saying and you know it.”
“then what is it?” sirius demanded, letting out another scoff as he stepped toward you.
“you have a reputation, sirus,” you started slowly, opening your eyes to watch him throw his head back with an indignant huff. “and i don’t feel like im ready-”
“here we go again.”
you blinked, jaw dropping. “sirius-”
he threw his arms out in frustration. “how much longer do i have to-to drop hints and flirt with you and compliment you for you to realize how in love with you i am? for you to realize that i’ve never felt this way about anyone before, and i want to chase this feeling to the ends of the earth, and i’ve been waiting for you to realize how much of an idiot that kid was since the day he asked you out?!”
you closed your eyes again, letting the words hang in the air. you bit back tears, giving yourself a minute for your throat to stop closing your words in. you just shook your head. “i can’t.” when you opened your eyes, he was gone. you wiped away your tears and left, too.
“i came as soon as i heard.”
your voice brought a tinge of pain to his heart. he wanted to believe it was just from his wound.
“holy shit you’re bleeding,” you breathed as james pulled away from sirius, hand covered in blood. the elder potter didn’t seem to mind, nodding to peter who had trailed in behind you.
“can you help?” james asked, shaking his head desperately.
“get him on the bed,” you directed with a short nod. peter and james got to work, lifting sirius up and onto his bed as the taller boy grimaced.
“im sorry, im so sorry,” peter muttered like a mantra until sirius was finally laying back against the bed. the boys stepped back and you stepped forward, placing your first aid kit on the chest sirius had been propped against.
“what happened?” you asked.
“well-”
“not you,” you said over your shoulder. james nodded.
“yes, doctor l/n.”
you looked up to sirius, who was looking at you through tired, lidded eyes. you avoided his eyes, clearing your throat. “what happened, sirius?”
“james can tell you,” he grunted as you moved around, supplies in hand, to him.
“i need you to tell me,” you clarified as you set the supplies next to him. “i need you to stay conscious.”
sirius took a shaky breath, his eyes looking over to his concerned friends at the end of the bed before closing them again. “remus wasn’t calming down.” he felt your fingers lift his shirt off of his stomach. in any other situation, he’d be delighted. “i had to stop him from running out of the shack, and he scratched me. stayed in the shack, though.”
“okay,” you breathed, looking over the gashed skin. “it’s pretty deep.” you reached a hand up to wipe some hair off of his sweaty forehead. he clenched his jaw. “do you think you can handle stitches?”
he let out a short laugh. “will it leave a cool scar?”
you smiled at him, your fingers brushing his temple. “very cool.”
“then do it.”
you turned to james and peter. “put a silencing charm on the door.” they nodded and you turned back to sirius. “i’ll talk you through it, okay?” he nodded. “i need you to say okay.”
“okay,” he grunted.
“i need you to talk back to me, okay?” you picked up a few disinfecting pads. “i need you to stay conscious. you can kick and scream and yell and grip peter’s hand if you need to.” you motioned over peter, who immediately took his place opposite of you, taking sirius’s hand with little confidence. he suppressed a yelp when sirius immediately squeezed his hand. “okay?”
“okay,” he affirmed.
“im gonna wipe up some blood and clean the wound,” you started. “it’s going to sting and burn, but it’ll show me where im working, okay?”
“okay.”
you took a slow breath before lightly brushing the wipe at the end of the gash. he immediately sucked in harshly, and you saw peter hunch over a bit from the death grip he was enduring. you gave him a look of pity as you continued to clean up sirius’s now completely tensed abdomen.
“you’re okay,” you assured, placing your free hand on his shoulder. his other hand whipped up to rest on yours, fingers closing around yours. you gulped. “you’re doing great.”
“im doing great,” he repeated.
“yeah,” you breathed. “yeah, you are.” after cleaning up around the wound, you patted his shoulder and slipped your hand away from his. “now im going to put some numbing cream on, okay?”
you talked him through it all. from the burning cream, to the tingles the cream incited, and all through stitching him up. you distracted him by having him to tell you about some prank he had been planning with james, and he was still talking about it by the time you had tied off the sutures and applied more disinfectant.
“you’re done,” you said softly. he opened his eyes lazily. he met your soft eyes first before looking down to his stomach. he attempted to sit himself up to get a better look at the stitching, but winced. you pressed a hand to his chest, pushing him gently back down. “stay down. you can check it out in the morning, after it’s had time to set.”
he nodded. “sure.” he finally let go of peter’s hand.
his eyes met yours again, and your gaze lingered before you grabbed your roll of bandages. “lift his back up for me, boys.” james came over and they did as told, and you wrapped the bandage around sirius’s abdomen and over the stitches. you pressed your fingers to the wound after you had clipped the bandage down. “i’ll change this in the morning, okay?”
“how long do we have to wait?” sirius asked, voice low. you turned to him in surprise. you met his dark eyes again and took a breath. peter and james nodded to each other and scurried out of the room. he shook his head when he heard the door close behind them. “you broke up with him three months ago. i hate waiting.”
you bit your quivering lip and placed a hand on his cheek. “i know.” you nodded and sniffed. “i know.”
he shook his head, “so why are we waiting?” you paused, brushing more hair out of his face. “im not going to hurt you. that’s the last thing i’d ever do.”
“i know,” you repeated, your voice barely above a whisper.
“so what are we doing?” he said, letting out a short, humorless laugh. “why won’t you let me show you how much you mean to me? how i’ve changed?”
you shook your head, pursing your lips as tears streamed down your cheeks. “stop.” he shut his mouth. “just...” before sirius could even blink, you leaned down and pressed a hard kiss to his lips.
his still bloodied hands immediately shot up to tangle in your hair, drawing you as close to him as possible as his exhausted lips tried to keep up with your sudden burst of passion. when you finally pulled away, the breath he had just collected was gone.
you leaned away and wiped your eyes. you looked down at him to see his gray eyes already boring into yours, waiting for you to say something.
“i did break up with him for you,” you said gently, reaching to lock your fingers with his. “i just... didn’t know if it was the right decision.”
“it was,” he said, trying to sit up again. he grimace as he propped himself up with his free hand. you watched him carefully before he met your eyes again. “it was. he was stupid. merlin, he was stupid.”
you let out a laugh, dropping your gaze to your locked hands. “and you?”
“smart as a whip.”
“sirius,” you chuckled, looking back up to him. “how do i know that you’re not going to do the same thing? that you won’t decide there’re prettier girls and-and sneak around me?”
“because there aren’t prettier girls,” he said quickly, shaking his head. you sniffed, giving him a flattered smile. “there aren’t, i swear it.”
you sighed, looking down again. “okay.”
“okay?”
“okay,” you repeated with a laugh, squeezing his hand.
“what does okay mean?” he asked, shaking his head with a smile.
you let out another laugh. “it means im gonna let myself love you, too.”
he grinned before pulling you into another passionate kiss. it didn’t last long enough for his liking, however, due to an unfortunate interruption.
the door creaked open and you both turned to see james peek his head in and out. “oh- peter, back down, they’re still going!”

explorers of arvus: now what? / 2.2.21
LAST TIME ON EXPLORERS OF ARVUS: we kicked the shit out of a witch, a murdercow, and a tree, and nearly got murdered by a broom! also i exploded the tree, which was pretty fucking poggers. we also did have to hold taure down to feed her some healing elixirs but yknow
silje, meanwhile, was spaced the fuck out the entire time (bc of being a dmpc last time) and has no idea what just happened or that he commited gratiutous amounts of tree violence.
And Then We Slept For 24 Hours (we didnt)
thorne rolled a nat20 on drawing the tree blight on fire! which is EXTREMELY COOL. im glad we have a memorial of the coolest thing ive done on arvus so far (and also hopefully the fire wont spread bc it would suck if we set all of arvus on fire) oh nvm we're in a swamp so we good. hard to set things on fire in a swamp.
i swear im paying attention but green is talking about dreamout in 772 rn and has some very interesting theories about how the eggpire plot would go down so i am just. side-eyeing it. i am Looking. i swear im paying attention.
oh man i havent collected my notes from last session bc i was liveblogging in discord for nyx's benefit. that's gonna be interesting to compile.* i wonder if i should put these in gdocs instead of wordpad lmao (wait no i use wordpad bc its easier to just pop open and have layered over discord / roll20) * [ AND THEN I DIDNT DO THAT FOR LIKE 2 MONTHS ]
michael: ...burn the house down charlie: ~ we're gonna burn the whole house down! ~ thorne: [confused] how do you know that song? we dont have any bards charlie: [buffering] ...BITCH I MIGHT BE
what if i took a level in bard, would that be fucked up or what
tiny hut tiny hut tiny hut tiny hut. TINY HURT (sieron casted Leomund's Tiny Hut bc we burnt down the only nearby shelter)
lots of discussion about the hut. hut talk
thorne: sieron, why havent we been doing this? charlie: great question! hey sieron, what the fuck? sieron: i guess i just havent thought about it? charlie: you're lucky you're cute >:/ sieron: AA??
discussion of sieron's alter appearance and how its probably somewhat awkward bc thorne is just. openly a horc. unfortunately, sieron's hometown is super racist
HELLO I HAVE BEEN DISTRACTED BC RUBY DID A PANEL REDRAW FROM ASP AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA aa a a a a a
time for taure and thorne to chat on watch! frenship taure hasnt noticed her hair colour bc shes been busy doin stuff, like killin people taure misunderstands thorne asking abt her hair and thinks he has a tragic backstory of being a hairdresser before becoming a warlock DOES TAURE KNOW WHAT THE FEYWILD IS yes she does! war of the veils was a thing, where the feywild invaded the material plane and honestly i should read all the worldbuilding again bc its been forever but i thought all that was neat
oh shit thorne called taure a uhhhh eladrin? OH BOY TAURE ROLLED A 1 we're on the same page here TIME FOR THORNE INFODUMP eladrin are feywild elves! as in closely related to the fey, as well as living in the feywild. their hair changes with the seasons, like taure's does :O !! taure and thorne have not had a fucking one on one conversation before
thorne: taure. taure: yes, hello that is me i am taure [..] taure: now, counterpoint, the sun makes hair change colour-- thorne: Taure.
thorne is trying so hard i love they everyone else is sleeping through this convo so theyre spared the awkwardness but ooc we are having a great time :o eladrin hair colour changing stuff related to mood / seasons / powers?? thorne is admittedly confused bc Weird Documentation but this is really neat to hear about taure, meanwhile, has no idea why this is important.
thorne: if i had told you this, and you had-- transcended-- into your next phase-- id be very concerned taure: hold on [loud grunting] okay no
why havent we been doing tiny hut this whole time. sieron.
oh right taure has a tragic backstory and her mom ditched her as a babby. MEANWHILE, THORNE DOESNT EVEN HAVE PARENTS michael: there are two types of people in the world: those who're kidnapped as infants, and those that kidnap infants WAIT IS THIS LIKE, THE FIRST TIME ANYONES HEARD ABT THORNE'S BACKSTORY BESIDES "LIVED IN THE FEYWILD" thorne is very chill about it though. god i love thorne. i love the entire party
thorne: ...after the third or fourth prophetic vision, they all sorta blur together.
god i wish id written down more about the magical mystical adventure OH. THE ORACLE FORESHADOWED THE ELADRIN THING. NEAT thorne: oh, the oracle! is that the guy with the, uh... [snaps fingers] the gryphon fart orb?
IREL IS HERE YAY IREL i have forgotten how to spell their name. how about i split the difference and spell it Yirel. michael is rolling to see if thorne and taure woke yirel up-- OH OKAY yirel just. sleeps for fun. god i wish that were me
charlie's hair can hold many small pets of dubious sapience.
I LOVE YIREL,,, thorne is just pleasantly confused. WAIT IS YIREL PURRING yirel: you are confused by that action! :D taure: ...yes. what were you doing? yirel: i was performing magic! i can now detect your minds! i can hear your thoughts. :D OKAY SO YIREL WAS. NOT PURRING. yirel has cast Detect Thoughts on thorne. thorne's train of thought is now "???"
we need to teach the snake consent. we have now taught the snake consent.
YIREL IS GOING TO VERY POLITELY ASK THE BIG BAD IF HE CAN READ THEIR MIND its okay i love them. thorne is SO CONFUSED yirel is attempting to be helpful YIREL LITERALLY DISCOVERED THEY COULD CAST DETECT THOUGHTS SO THEY CASTED DETECT THOUGHTS. thorne is hoping yirel wont learn to cast fireball on themself. yirel: there's two timelines where that could happen. i will do my best to avoid them! :D
okay its really hard to get across in text but yirel is basically just. permanently happy/excited sounding. like a puppy! or like the ":D" face in winged snake form.
ooh, a celestial serpent location! off in the mistwall mountains. they are Extremely Dead but yirel told thorne+taure where it is on the map and said we can learn stuff abt time! and then went to sleep. goodnight yirel. i will kill for you
S. S. BIG BOAT (it is 60 miles across. big boat. thank you jorb)
WHAT IS WRONG WITH JORB'S CAMERA, WHY DOES IT KEEP ZOOMING IIIIIIIIIIN
it rained overnight so all the water that collected on the tiny hut got dumped on everyone, and THEN silje shook off like a dog and charlie is MISERABLE
SILJE GOT A NAT20 FORAGING the survival squad are gonna get the fuckin best breakfast ever
oh yea the poison / disease was stored in the tree blight! so now that we've incinerated it it's all good. still gonna take time for the whole river to clear, but with the source of it gone we should be golden. fuck yea
oh man today was hourly comics day, wasnt it. or was it feb 1? fuck shit damn uhhhhh i have done. nothing. besides work on the PMV, talk about dreamout, and now play d&d. this is unrelated to everything im just Thonkin
TIME FOR SWAMP FACTS solar knows So Much about swamps. time to discuss cattails (please no) these are cattails............. ME WANT BITE. ME WANT PLANT CORN DOG DELIGHT. ME WANT DEEP FRIED. ME THINK WATER TWINKIE NICE
oh shit thorne has spotted a ufo. yuufo time OMINOUS YUUFO silje, with an armful of frogs and a lizard in his mouth: [looks up] mrrp? poor silje cant see for shit. NEITHER CAN THORNE its either very small and close, or very big and far away
HRM. actually this MIGHT be related to the vision bc the ominous yuufo was heart-shaped, and the vision was of a necromancer on a floating bloody platform raising all kinds of undead
its been forever and i didnt take a lot of notes on the mini-session but the last time we saw the oracle was a cave on theral! so, unrelated to the place yirel marked on the map. which michael marked down as "seat of the oracle"!
TAURE THINK OF THE CHILDREN THAT WE DONT HAVE (we have yirel!) TAURE THINK OF THE CHILD THAT WE HAVE
ahoyhoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy i wanna go to ahoyhoy. we are not currently going to ahoyhoy but maybe some day
i had to stop paying attention because buttons wanted to see my Horrible Streaming Setup and apparently something terrible has happened. also honse
we are potentially dealing with a salad katamari.
thorne: could that be what the object in the sky is? silje: ...a lettuce?
we have voted to ignore the salad katamari for now. this action will have consequences.
charlie and silje take watch! charlie wants to know what silje's deal is! silje is a monster hunter. charlie misses bein a thief ): SILJE WAS A MONSTER HUNTER SINCE HE WAS 12?? charlie realizes that perhaps becoming an adventurer and doing a huge amount of murder on a regular basis, especially as a child, is Maybe Not Great silje likes books! charlie offers to lend him her books :D charlie, quietly: i am totally doing the friendship thing so good. RATS RATS RATS RATS hehe rats.
uh oh, nyx has died. NVM NYX IS OKAY nyx's power has not gone out again
we've been on arvus for 13 days! neat.
OH SHIT FLOATING ISLAND its also shaped weirdly like a heart. YEP IT LOOKS LIKE ITS BLEEDING probably bc of clay or iron oxide in the dirt but still that looks ominous as hell SIERON'S A SMART BOY he rolled 20+ on the 3 rolls he had to do, fuck yeah. this fucked up island is an Earth Mote! which are lil sky islands. or like, just general dirt chunks thatre in the sky. theyre either natural events or wizards showing off! also they usually move, but this one is just kinda... tethered. not like Literally but its locked in place. this is apparently the "Heart of Arvus"! which is . at the heart of arvus. or at least the centre of the continent.
solar: leo, we've found the ruins of mumbo jumbo's base. leo: [leans over and thwaps solar on the leg w nerf sword]
penn: i swear to god, if i look out my window and i dont see jorb in the sky, im going to be disappointed that hes not doing his job. jorb: slowly rotating.

NOPE mage hand! charlie is 41 pounds. mage hand is 5 pounds limit. korred rope! we have enough rope to tie together and tie to the korred rope, BUT the korred rope cannot fly. Sweet Angel
Bnha Night club AU
I have a suddenly urge to write this x3 Please enjoy it!
Everyones aged up for this !
Chapter 1: Something new to try
You slammed your head down as you tried not to cry, you were just kicked out of your previous office work, even though it barely paid you,’This is so bad.. ... what am I going to do now!?’,you internally screamed as you scratched your head with both of your hands. You tried to hold back a sob on the papers that screamed ‘You are being relieved from your work, we thank you for your services. Please receive this generous amount of 400,000 yen as thanks’ the money is great an all but you didn’t want to be a burden to your roommates for paying the rent.
You sniffed has you tired to wipe off your tears off while clutching the already wet papers that are now drenched in your tears,”I don't get this! One day they’re are telling me I'm doing great the now I’m being asked to gather all my stuff to cause I’m getting fired. ...”, You placed the papers on the table and walked to the couch and flopped your whole body on it and screamed at a cushion. You friend Ryukyu walked out from the kitchen and gave you a worried expression, she knew you were suddenly fired because you came home crying your eyes out and went straight to your room closing the door quietly. Your roommates including her, Nemuri, Uwabami were quick to try and comfort you, you told them after hours of convincing you to come out and explain but you ended up crying your eyes out while eating your favourite ice cream.
Ryukyu walks to where you were and pats your head,”Maybe this is a sign that you need to try something new, how about that little side Job you do as an artist that takes commissions?”, she says with a soft voice. You looked up form the cushion while sniffling,”I don’t mind that but I don't want to stay cooped up in my room drawing for at least 100+ hours just for commissions, the pays great but mostly all of them are rush orders which is really tiring for me...”, you say. ”Hmmm..Oh! how about streaming?”, She says you tilted your head to the right with a questioning face,”I’m quite shy Ryu-chan and besides it takes awhile to even have a huge fanbase but either way I’m way to shy to even let people see my face anyways...”, this time it was Uwabami’s turn.
“How about working as a model for me? All my models are cool and all but they all have trash attitudes and zero cooperation on shoots”, she huffs as she walks in with two mugs. She hands you a mug,”Its nice and sweet, just how you like your tea”, she smiles. You sat up putting the cushion on you lap and reached for the mug taking a small sip form the tea,”Plus I think you’ll do well as a model with that great body of yours! I’d say you’d do well as a lingerie model”,you almost spit out your tea. You pouted as you looked at her,”I get the ‘Try new things’ but I don’t think putting my body out in billboards or advertisements is too much for me! I’ve done it twice now for you and my coworkers kept asking me if I was working as a part-time model”, you squeaked as you quietly thanked Ryukyu handing a tissue.
“Whaaat? You should flaunt that cute body of yours, besides you're already wearing some of my trial clothings and you look super cute in them already”, she squeals while Ryukyu laughs nervously. Ryukyu was a film director as well as streamer for fun, Uwabami is a fashion designer as well as an online celebrity, and you used to work as a full-time artist that does commissions but decided to try something new and tried to work at a office as someone who basically works their butt off of dozens of papers.
Everyone was user nice and you did considered that you didn't mind working full-time there but after 3 years of serving them you got fired for no specific reason, you were damn sure that you did everything right, learned from your co-workers. You had a suspicion going on that someone who hated you had spread false rumours about you and managed to get to the president which lead you into to being fired. Lastly, is your friend Nemuri, you went sure what her job is, you tired to ask Ryukyu and Uwabami about it but they always say ‘I don’t think you should know..’ or ‘Her work is... something else its like a form of art? But if I tell you it’ll be too much on your soul’ or any answer to redirect your attention.
After 5 years of living together you still didnt know what Nemuri’s job is,”How about working at my job? You should try something wild!”, speak of devil- your friend Nemuri walks out of her room with a towel on her shoulders drying her hair. Ryukyu coughed at her suggestion while Uwabami rolls her eyes at Nemuri,”Nemu I think that work is too much for Y/n, besides thats too wild I don't think y/n will even consider working there even for a week”, she huffs out. Nemuri laughs at this and smirks,”Wanna bet?”, she cheekily says. Before Uwabami could reply to that Ryukyu was kind enough to step in-between the two,”Stop it you two, we are supposed to be comforting y/n and help her find a job. A job that SHE likes working at”, Ryukyu says while gesturing you to face away for her so she could braid your hair as that clams you down a bit.
Uwabami quickly agrees with Ryukyu,”Yeah! Which means she could work with me as a model for my clothes!”, Ryukyu looks at her a straight face,”A job that y/n doesn't MIND working at for awhile or if your’re lucky she likes the job as your model then she’ll your there full-time”, she says as she returns to braiding your hair. Uwabami sighs sadly grumbling ‘She has a small experience for last time and I think she would do well!’ Nemuri laughs at her friends demise and looks back you,”Theres an open spot for waiters/waitress at my job and plus we have a new rule of no touching the waiters/waitress since that incident. Aaanndd we also have a tight security now! five in every floor, room and in the bar as well!”, she walks in the kitchen to grab a beer.
“Isn't is a bit too early for you to start drinking? Don’t you have work later on?”, Uwabami looks at her with a pout on her face. Nemuri waves her off as she take a huge gulp of her favourite beer,”I could take her there to day for an interview plus! y/n already has great experience cause she works at a cafe before! But I wouldn't force you to do it but then again your always open to trying something new and I think--”, before she could finish her sentence Ryukyu cuts her off,”--its y/n decision to either go with you or work with Uwabami or she looks for other jobs that are open to her or continue doing commissions. It up to y/n to figure out what she wants to do next, also I wouldn't mind letting you work as a graphic designer or be my assistant”, Ryukyu says as she now finishes braiding your hair, she leans back to admire her work.
“Thank you Ryu-chan, I think that calm me down a bit. I'll think about your offers”, you say as you look at your roommates, Uwabami silently celebrates and squeals, ‘What ever you pick I'll respect it’ Ryukyu says softly while patting your head. Nemuri rolls her eye at Uwabami,”You haven’t won anything yet Medusa”, she sneers. Medusa is a name that she uses to insult to Uwabami’s hair but Uwabami doesn't care about but rather likes it cause it suits her,”Like your one to talk, what makes you think y/n would work where you work?! You’ll scare her to death”, Uwabami rolls her eyes and scoff at this,”She’s working as a waitress, Uwabami and the pays actually good since its a really popular place and I wouldn't let her go near ‘That’ place, the no touching the waiters or waitresses rule is basically non existent there since its VIP only”, Nemuri reasons out.
The two went back and worth with reasons and all while silently insulting each other, Ryukyu sighs heavily as she looks at you who was silently watching them roast each other,”Well I’m really curious about where Nemuri works at and she did say there's a spot for a waitress and Ive got some experience when I worked at a cafe before, so I guess its not that different, besides I can't stay cooped up in here working on commissions all day everyday. I wanna try something new!”, you stood up with a determined face as he looked at Nemuri.
Ryukyu laughs nervously at your enthusiasm,’I don’t think thats the right expression your wearing, y/n’,she sweat drops at this Uwabami drops her jaw and lets out a loud groan saddened that you didn’t choose her, Nemuri squeals in excitement and quickly runs to your side and grabbed both of your hands,”You won't regret it, I swear on it! I have to call the Prez. to secure a spot for you”, she lets go of your hands and reaches for her back pocket for her phone.
“Now hold on just a second! Y/n hasn't technically agreed AGREED to fully work there anyway!”,Uwabami shouts clearly annoyed that Nemuri is celebrating early, Nemuri sticks her tongue out like a child. Ryukyu deadpans at their childish behaviour,”As long y/n is safe in working-- like you promised, Nemuri-- then I have no problems with y/n working there-- as a waitress--”, Ryukyu says with s strict voice as she puts emphasis on Nemuri’s name and you working as a server there.
Nemuri visibly shakes in her place clearly excited for you to come with her later and check out the place before it opens, her phone rang a few times till the call comes through,”HEY PREZ.!! I finally found someone that could fill in the spot if the previous waiter who decided to quit... ..Yes... Could she check out the place later before the place opens? OH don’t worry use the door from the back.. okay..SHE CAN!! OKAY I’ll tell her right away!!”, she quickly ends the call and turns to face you with a grin.
“Wear your most comfortable outfit y/n!! Im taking you to my work place in 2 hours!!”, Nemuri quickly run back to her room and slams her door close. She opens it again and looks at Uwabami,”Aaanndd if you want her to still test out your cute clothes my work allows waiter and waitresses to wear what ever they want as long as they have thier server badge around them”, she then closes her door again. Uwabami huffs in complete defeat but grumbles out ‘I guess that kind of a win for me, I’ll make sure to have something she could wear-- super cute too!!’ and goes to her room to scavenge and continue her cute designs for you wear.
Ryukyu looks at you with a serious expression,”Well... . seeing as you've decided on going to that work, I guess I can tell you that this job no regular job sure there's some aspects of serving a person their orders or drinks but it goes sometimes goes beyond that, y/n”, you looked at her with a confused look. “How is it different Ryu-chan? OH! Will you finally tell me what kind of work Nemuri has now?”, you asked excited flapping your arms with excitement, Ryukyu cough nervously and looks at your with her eyebrows furrowed and a small smile,”Erm I think you have to seat down for this one Y/n”.
---
Its currently 3:26 pm and Nemuri’s work starts at 6:30 pm, you were squirming in your seat as Nemuri drives you both there. You were wearing your most comfortable clothes you could wear a huge jacket that reaches halfway to your knees, leggings and running shoes while Nemuri was wearing a tight fitting dark purple dress that was way to high up her thighs. You already knew what you chose to work at as Ryukyu explained to you back at the house, but then again you have to be accepted into working here but knowing Nemuri she wouldn't hesitate to pull some strings to make them accept you applying there.
‘A stripper club?! I though Nemuri works for a lingerie model... BUT A STRIPPER?! I would've never guess that if Ryukyu did not tell me this..’,you rubbed your arms as you looked at the road ahead of you. Nemuri looks at you through the rear mirror seeing you were feeling unsure,”Hey, were just checking out the place I'm not actually letting you work there right away, we’ll basically give you a tour of the building and at the end of that tour you have to make a decision that your either want to work there full-time or just keep it as an option. But you have like less than a week to decided cause Prez says that there are a lot of people coming in seeing if they could work there, I'm friends with everyone in the building so if anyone tries to get to touchy with you they have to get through me first, got all that?”.
You looked at Nemuri with a small smile not feeling nervous anymore,”So um.. whats it like being a stripper?”, you asked feeling curious. Nemuri grins at your question,”Weellll its kinda fun and art in a way, it also lets me be myself, let out my true self-- not that I cant outside but this place allows me to get down and get wild! And the crowds cheering as well get me going and I do get down and dirty when someone offers it--- cant say no to that and the money as well”, she laughs.
You sat there laughing nervously and looked at the window,’I don't mind working here well not forever but I'd like to just try it out, after all I still have to look for an actual job. Maybe I should just work for an animation studio?’, your mind began to wonder what jobs you should apply at next since the office life just wasn't for you. You were kind of sad cause the people that surrounded you were super sweet and kind-- except that one person-- you’ll miss Shino, Ryuko, Tomoko as well as Yawara (The Pussy cats real names)
But you could always keep in touch with them after all they literally asked you on a hangout this weekend to comfort you, you agreed to it and can't wait to meet them once this week it over and you finally have a grasp of the job you’ll now be working in which in your case you were quite excited as you don’t know how big of a difference being a waitress in a stripper clubs differs from a waitress in cafe. Your legs were jumping in excitement as you pass the third stop light, you could see a building that has all kinds of lights and expensive--like hella expensive-- a few cars parks in the front as well as moving lights,’I-is this how stripper clubs look like?! This place is almost packed and its not even 6:30 pm yet.. .’,You looked at Nemuri with a confused expression.
Nemuri laughs at you as she turns her car to the back part of the building-- that has three floors??-- where workers could park there car there,”We’re here y/n, try not stay close to me this place is quite big and I don’t really want to lose sight of you”, Nemuri easy has she turns off the engine and got out the car and you followed as well. You pulled on your jacket sleeve as you wait for Nemuri while she get her gym bag where she had all her clothes and all her other stuff. She closed her trunk and walked to my side with her gym bag slung on her left arm,”You ready? You know once you walk inside its a whole new world and scene for you, I’m just giving you a tour along with the prez. as well as the rules. You won't start working here unless you sign the papers”, she says as she walks beside you to the back entrance.
You gave her a soft nod as she opens the door to you, as soon as she opened the door a blast of sexy music can be heard-- but a bit muffled-- and the lighting was so dark you could barely see anything if it wasn't for the floor lightings that could guide you,’What the heck-- why is it so DARK HERE?! To be honest Nemuri I'm not sure if I'm in the right place’, you internally cried as you walked right behind her. You made sure to grab the lose sling of her gym bag as to not get lost as waiters and waitresses scamper around to make sure the place was spotless before it opens its doors to the rich people, each of them had this two things around their thighs--wait a second is that ARE THEY CARRYING TWO HUGE ALCHOL BOTTLES?!-- and are those the uniforms you’ll be wearing- this is getting too much.
Your whole body quivered,’Not only this whole place is super- and I mean super expensive looking-- all the people serving here are wearing those kinds or clothes’,You observed the servers running around trying to get ready some were even strong enough to get change at the corner, your guessing they came in late and didn't want their manager to scold them. From what you’ve observed there were some that decided to wear their own outfit with their server badge of course but majority wore the clubs uniforms. “Hey.. Nemuri are we almost there yet?”, you looked at her as you guys were going up the huge stairs to the second floor.
Th structure of the building was honestly new to you, from what you could observe, it has three floors counting the ground floor-- which had a Two small pole stages levelled on each side of the huge pole stage that had a DJ stationed just behind the huge stage. Surrounding the stages had lounges and seating areas for people to watch the performers from, there were railings on the 2nd and 3rd floors to watch the stages on the first floor from above, there were also seats that curved around a super small stage in the center of it,”We’re almost their no need to be nervous! Everyones super nice here”, you laughed nervously,’I’m basically the odd one out here in this place-- Oh please tell me I can wear legging and not shorts to work, PLEASE’,you prayed silently.
You finally reached the managers room at last, you shuffled nervously on you spot as you looked at Nemuri,”Go inside, I'll meet you in her in a second I have to change into my outfit”, she pats your head softly as she walks to the opposite direction. You looked at the sign on top of door ‘Dancers only’ you sighed heavily,”Figures... well here goes nothing.. ..”, you knocked on the door trice and you heard a faint ‘Come in!’, you slowly turned the knob and peaked at the door meekly.
---
You poked your head out as look inside the room, before you were three people and two of them were in stripper outfits,’I interrupted something didn’t I... GWAHH NEMURI SAVE ME!!!’, you cried internally as the man gestured for you to come inside. You swallowed and stepped inside and closed the door behind you and walked in front of the table,’Don’t look at them, don’t look at them, dont look at them-- will he start or do I have to’, luckily you didn’t have to start the conversation as the-- cute small bear?-- started it for you. “A pleasure to meet you! I’m guessing your’re the new waitress that Nemuri told over the phone, I was just talking to this two about something but I will continue that later seeing that you are here now!”, the manager? jumped down the chair and walked around the huge table to you.
‘Oh my god-- SO CUTE!!! THIS IS THE MANAGER THAT OWNS THE PLACE?!’, you blushed at this, you were cooing how cute the manager was. You held both of your hands on you chest,“N-nice to meet-- YOUUuu?!”, you flinched when someone blew on your left ear. You covered your left ear as you looked the person,”Hello, precious listener”, the person grinned as he looked at you with a playful expression. The person has long silky yellow hair that framed his looks and is wearing a black mesh crop top, yellow tinted glasses, some necklaces, yellow shorts and black boots. You walked backwards only to land against someones chest, the said person held your shoulders softy with his large calloused hands which might be from dancing on the pole.
“Don’t scare her too much Hizashi..”, you flinched at the husky voice behind you--you didn’t know you’d be would be working with a bunch of handsome men-- ‘I don’t know if I should be happy or scared at this.. Nemuri please save me huhuh’, the man that was behind you was wearing a grey mesh top, black leather fingerless gloves, black cargo pants thats tucked in his black combat boots, a few ear piercings and silver chains around his neck. You quickly muttered a ‘Sorry’ and pulled onto your hoodie to hide your flustered state,’NEMURI WHERE ARE YOU HUHUHUHUHUH’, you internally cried. The prez laughed at your flustered self,”Sorry about them! The one who blew on your ear is Hizashi, his stage name is Present Mic and this other fellow here is Aizawa, Eraserhead is his stage name”, the prez says as he taps your leg.
You peaked out from your hoodie to look down at him, he smiles softy,”Your quite shy but thats okay!I can tell your’re going to be a breath of fresh air here at the UA club!”, he laughs softly and all you could do was nod softly, the two strippers in room the can agree to that.

Sedona, Arizona - Monarch Outpost 55 - Titanus Scylla
Alan drove down the winding road through the canyon that lead to the oil fields, admiring the view as he always did.
For forty years, he'd been taking this same drive, and for forty years he still found something to love about it. He remembered his father bringing him here, telling him that the canyon's stone, carved by mother nature's hands herself, had existed since the Permian period. And he remembered taking his kids, playing in one of the nearby creeks and looking for fossilized shells from a land lost to time. Alan has always been a paleontologist at heart, but that wasn't as reliable a job as working at the pipeline.
When he reached the field, pulling his truck around the small metal shed that passed for an office, he stepped out into the Arizona heat. He stood there for a moment, fingers hooked in the belt loops of his coveralls as he watched the rig's pumpjacks bobbing up and down like the drinking bird toy he had as a kid. They were, of course, drinking oil rather than water - or as his daughter Lucy liked to put it, "sucking the earth's blood".
There were other workers around, and about half a mile away he saw the government guys that hung around the area running around like chickens without heads. He squinted, they weren't usually this busy. A couple years back, they had taken some land near the fields, the reason being some sort of bio-hazard. It didn't matter to him, just so long as they didn't interfere with his work.
"Hey, Alan." Sawyer said, sticking his head out of the shed.
He nodded, clocking in.
"You get my text?" he asked.
"No, why?" Alan asked, pulling his phone out.
"It's your seismograph. Was goin' nuts not too long ago." he led him inside.
"Huh.." Alan hummed to himself. That thing was something he had helped his son, Evan, build nearly thirty years ago. It was mostly for fun, as his son had a knack for that sort of thing. Looking at it now, Sawyer was right. The usually flat line was now a mess of scribbles, as if there had just been an earthquake. As he watched, waves continuing to spike, he felt a rumble beneath his feet. The shed had also begun to rattle.
"You think it's one of the rigs?"
"I dunno, but I don't like it."
Alan stepped outside, looking at the field with a more critical gaze.
"I don't -"
The ground beneath him exploded, and something long and dark jutted out of it, arching over like a giant hook. He stepped back inside so hard he banged his arm against the door.
"Holy mother of.." Sawyer's voice trailed off.
Outside, more of those things were sticking up, jamming into the ground. Jointed, covered in bristle-like hairs the size of the shed, the earth jumped as the thing lifted itself up. With a metallic groan, the pumpjacks slid into the hole it left.
It.
He was barely aware that he and Sawyer were about twenty feet away from the pit it was pulling itself out of. He felt paralyzed, his mind overwhelmed by a primal fear, an instinct coded deep within the brains of his ancestors when they were still prey to things like this. The giant spider legs rose hundreds of feet in the air, holding a bulbous body and a face full of squirming tentacles that hung below a pair of emotionless eyes. It was like a cuttlefish on stilts.
Lucy, Evan, he thought, picturing their faces.
"The goddamndest thing." Sawyer said in breathless disbelief.
It was the last thing he ever heard.
Munich, Germany - Monarch Outpost 67 - Titanus Methuselah
The cork sprung from the bottle with a loud pop, sailing across the meadow with the breeze.
"Don't litter, Hugo." Mila said, not looking away from her canvas.
He ignored her complaint as he took out various snacks from the cooler.
"It's biodegradable."
"Right," she said, looking at the mountain range ahead of her before going back and mixing more colors onto her palette. "Still littering."
With a roll of his eyes he poured the drink into two plastic cups, handing her one. Narrowing her eyes, she took it, taking a sip.
"This was where I grew up, you know." she said, pointing her paintbrush beyond the canvas. "See that mountain there?"
He didn't question the sudden change in subject, so instead he played along, glancing over at the mountain rising above the trees. The same one she was painting.
"What about it?" he asked, popping a cheese square into his mouth.
"My grandfather told me it wasn't always there, that there was a village instead. It was pretty average, you know, quaint. But," she stopped to take another sip of her drink. "They 'wasted the land', he'd say. That the river that ran through town and just down over there," she nodded to the clear blue stream that trickled not to far behind them. "Had turned brown, murky. You know why?"
Hugo chuckled, knowing where this was going. "Maybe. And what happened to this town?"
"No one knows. He says one day the village was gone, and that mountain was there."
"I see," he said, still waiting for the punchline. "How long ago was this?"
She shrugged. "Middle ages, maybe."
"Your grandfather must have been very old."
"My family's been here for centuries." she said, continuing with her painting. "But do you want to know one other thing about the legend?"
He leaned closer, listening halfheartedly.
"That anyone who litters will be gobbled up by the mountain troll that lives on its peak."
He rolled his eyes, taking a swig from his cup. She chucked to herself.
"Of course it was just some bedtime story made to scare me. But," she paused, staring at the mountain with an odd expression. "There were times when I could swear I heard something from that mountain. Like something sleeping."
Hugo said nothing, and neither did she as she knelt down and took a strawberry from the array of food placed on the picnic blanket he sat on.
"Probably just my imagination." she said.
Slowly, his eyes wandered past her, past her canvas, and somewhere behind her. She tilted her head to the side as she saw his eyes widen.
"Are you alright?"
"Th-The - The mountain.." he pointed a shaky finger over her shoulder. She crossed her arms.
"So you're mocking me now?"
"N-No, the mountain, it -" he didn't finish his thought before he shot up from his seat, a scream gradually growing in volume leaving his mouth as he ran back down the trail they came from. It was so sudden it left her uneasy.
"Aren't you taking this a little too far?" she called after him.
But then she felt the earth shift below her.
Turning around, she saw that the mountain was now standing up on four thick legs. It had a stout face like a bulldog but jutting from its head were a pair of horns like a bull. And as she watched, it put one lumbering limb forward, and then another. The patch of forest that sprouted from its rocky back shivered with each step.
Mila didn't scream, but her heart was beating in her ears just as loudly. The thing was about a kilometer away at least, but she doubted it would notice her even if she tried drawing its attention.
Instead, she took one long chug from the champagne bottle and kept painting until the creature was out of sight.
Tingua Preserve, Brazil - Monarch Outpost 58 - Titanus Behemoth
The woman crawled through the hatch and into an access tunnel. Every alarm in the facility was blaring, and everyone was running for their lives.
Behemoth was awake.
He had been sleeping deep in a cave in the Tingua preserve not far from Rio de Janeiro. After the containment was set up, she had volunteered to stay on the team that oversaw the facility. It was an alright job. Behemoth was, to her, one of the more interesting titans. And when she could find the free time, Rio and its beaches were less than an hour away. Her job payed decently, she'd made some good friends, by all accounts the future looked bright.
But now, everything was changing.
She reached her destination, a panel on the wall of the tunnel. She did her job quickly, then continued down the tunnel, opened another panel, and dropped down into the room beyond. Mounted high in the cave, the room jutted out of the wall. And it was mostly transparent, giving her a good view of the titan below.
His legs were folded under him, his tusks curving above him. As she watched, he struggled against the containment field, trying to stand up. He looked like he was in pain.
"Sabine? Why didn't you just use the door?"
She turned and found of the techs - Erik - staring at her, his eyes full of bewilderment.
"I was checking the wiring in the access tunnel." she said. "The meter downstairs showed some resistance. It looked okay up here, though."
"You could've asked me."
"Yeah," she said, staring down at the titan. "But I wanted the view."
"Are you nuts? He's trying to break out like the others."
"I know." she said, voice void of emotion. "So what are you still up here for?"
"Backup. Dr. Singh has us on standby to use the kill switch."
Behemoth roared, almost as if he could hear and subsequently understand their conversation. The titan pushed up hard, swinging his head through the containment field and shredding the equipment that powered it with his tusks. The field vanished, and the floodlights overhead snapped on. Toward the front of the cave, dozens of security guards took their positions.
"Erik?" the voice came from the intercom. It was Dr. Singh.
"Yeah?"
"We've had negative results here, we're not sure why. Go ahead and enable the kill switch."
"Will do, doctor." he said, punching in a code and flipping up the cover. "Enabled."
After a short bout of silence, the doctor's voice rang out. "Do it."
Erik reached out flipped the switch. Nothing happened. He flipped it back, and then again. And again.
"N-Nothing's happening," he reported, trying not to sound nervous. He checked the diagnostics.
"There's no power!"
"No...there isn't." the Sleeper said.
Erik looked at her, eyes wide, then glanced at the hatch to the access tunnel. His confusion turned to anger. "You were in there, you cut the line to the kill switch - y-you traitor."
"Please, I was never with Monarch."
"Oh my god," he said, voice dropping to a whisper. "You're - You're one of -"
"Look at him!" she nodded toward Behemoth. "You think you have the right to just kill a god? He was here long before you were. You've seen the cave paintings of him in here. They're thousands of years old, and that's just after your people got here. This place's indigenous groups still have a name for him, you know - Mapinguary. You heard Dr. Russell. You have to let him go."
"You're insane - how long have you been working with her?"
"That's not something you need to know. If anything, you should be grateful. This planet's seas are dying, rainforests nearly gone, thousands of species exterminated. I'm only trying to help."
"You've killed us all." Erik said.
"..Maybe."
Below, Behemoth rose to his full height. Or at least his full height on four legs, as there was a running bet on the base about whether he could go bipedal or not. The Sleeper was in the "yes" camp. His tusks and shaggy hair made him look superficially like a mammoth, but he was really built more like a giant ground sloth. His limbs were longer in the front than they were in the back, and he rested on the knuckles of his paws with thick, sharp claws. The only way he could use those claws was to stand up on his stubbier hind limbs.
Behemoth leaned back, and his forelimbs came up from the floor. His tusks scraped across the ceiling, and the entire cave shook. He swatted at the soldiers firing rounds of bullets at his hide with his claws. It almost looked funny from a distance, like he was knocking over toy soldiers. She felt a little twinge of sympathy, but this was how it had to be. If the Controller asked her of this, then it had to be done.
"I was right." she said.
"About what?"
"Bipedal."
With a puzzled, fearful look, he climbed into the crawlspace she came from. It didn't matter. There was no way he could fix it, not in time at least.
Suddenly, a blue-white flame spilled toward him. As Behemoth turned away from the gunfire, the titan screamed. He was facing her now, and she could see his eyes. The eyes of a god. An angry god, whose sanctuary had been invaded, defiled.
The same fire spewed at him again, but this time she saw where it came from: a nozzle protruding from the ceiling. The Sleeper hummed to herself. She hadn't known about that. Behemoth saw it too, roaring as he lunged forward.
"Come on," she whispered. "You know what to do."
The ceiling of the cave was high, but as he stretched to his full height, his face was just a few feet away when his tusks smashed into the ceiling. Huge chunks of stone tore loose, followed by an explosion as the reservoir of napalm spilled to the floor.
"Sleeper to X Base, requesting immediate extraction." she spoke into a device she pulled from her pocket.
Behemoth turned back toward the cave's entrance, covered in flames. But the fire seemed to find no purchase on his fur, and soon enough it burned itself out. He didn't look hurt at all. The cave, however, was filling with fire, and debris from the ceiling were still falling. The observation room shook, wobbled and tore loose from the cave wall.
The Sleeper had one last sight of Behemoth, crashing through the barriers at the cave entrance.
Loch Ness, Scotland - Monarch Outpost 64 - Titanus Leviathan
Dr. Noe paced back and forth within the control room.
The Monarch alerts had just began pouring in, and at this point everyone was on edge. Everyone, it seemed, except for Dr. Reid. She sat comfortably at her desk, lukewarm mug of coffee in hand as she stared at her screen through a pair of a large glasses. He had no idea how she could remain so calm in such a dire situation, knowing that hundreds of fellow operatives were falling at the hands of titans - and possibly even terrorists. He looked over her shoulder at the screen, eyes darting between the fluctuating bioacoustics and the murky water just outside the room.
"Relax, even if the containment field fails we still have the blockade." Dr. Reid reassured him, leaning back in her chair as she took a swig of coffee.
"And where does that leave us? We wouldn't have the time to evacuate if she decides to attack the base once she's figured out she can't escape." he said, nervously running a hand through his short, black hair.
The outpost sat a couple kilometers underwater, situated on the side of a submerged rocky outcropping on one of the lake's cliffsides. Nothing much happened around there, as Leviathan (or "Nessie" as the world had unknowingly dubbed her) was usually dormant, unbothered by the traffic the lake saw each year. Which made Noe's job much easier on his overly cautious nature. His colleague, however, wasn't so concerned.
"She won't, she barely even notices us. Why would she think of attacking this place?"
"I..I guess you got a point."
"Besides, it's her getting out that we should be concerned with, and even then we got a backup plan for the backup plan."
"I dunno," he mused. "The lake's far from shallow, and the level of radiation at its deepest point is a little suspect."
She let out a tired chuckle. "God, have you been talking to Rick again?"
"Wh - No! I'm just saying we can never be too careful."
He was a little hesitant to admit that he did, in fact, somewhat buy into the hollow earth theory. Or at least Dr. Brooks' vision of it. It wouldn't be too out there. He was in charge of looking after the goddamn Loch Ness Monster after all. At this point he was ready to believe just about anything.
"Uh oh." Reid said in a steady tone, hiking her glasses farther up the bridge of her nose.
"'Uh oh' - what do you mean 'uh oh'?"
She gestured to the screen with her mug.
"Looks like 'ol Nessie isn't taking to the field so well."
Looking at the security feeds, Noe could barely make anything out - a long, paddle-shaped tail whipping about, kicking up mounds of lake muck into the water around her as she thrashed within the field, maybe a plesiosaur-like fin or two.
"What's got her all worked up? She was fine just a second ago." he said, getting increasingly nervous.
Reid shushed him, turning up the volume on the bioacoustic feed. The room quieted, only the sound of Leviathan's rapid heartbeat thudding through the walls. And something else.
"What is that?"
"Not sure. But it's not Leviathan."
Her fingers flew across the keyboard, trying to search for the source of the sound as the titan continued to struggle within the field.
"Uhhh, Reid?"
"What." she replied impatiently.
Hearing no answer, her eyes flicked up from the screen. "Spit it out, I don't have -"
Noe was pointing at something beyond the window, eyes wide. Looking up from her post, she saw that the struggling had stopped. As the dirtied water settled, she could see that the containment field was now empty.
"What the h -"
Noe let out a surprised shriek when a massive fin leisurely passed in front of the window. Leviathan made another pass at the base, her long neck bending as she peered inside with an indescribable expression. Slowly, he backed away from the glass. Reid was paralyzed at her desk. The titan let out a throaty grumble before turning away from the base with the flick of her tail. The tail made contact with the room, shaking it so roughly the lights flickered for a moment. But somehow they remained unscathed.
"Reid.." he gulped. "Blockades."
"Got it."
Across the lake, massive steel doors closed, damming off the lake from the sea. Leviathan wasn't going anywhere.
"How is she?"
"Looks like she's on the move, but..she's not trying to leave."
"Th - That's good, right?"
"Hold on, I'm picking something else up. Sending a probe."
Both of their eyes were trained on the drone's feed as it cut through murky clouds the titan had left, the floodlights illuminating the dark water. It was slow-moving, and Noe didn't doubt that they had long lost Leviathan's trail.
"Anything?"
"I'm still getting her radiation signature. Bioacoustics too but she's on edge. Like she's looking for something."
After what felt like forever, the probe came across a sudden dive in the lake floor. The radiation readings spiked. Reid raised her brows.
"Well," she said, taking a sip of her - now cold - coffee. "That's new."
"What is?"
"Was that cavity always like that?"
Soon enough, Noe could see what she was referring to. They had followed Leviathan to the deepest part of the lake, where the radiation was far more prominent anywhere else. But this was different. It was an underwater tunnel, going down - much, much deeper than anything their scanners had picked up. It was almost like something had carved it out themselves. Reid led the probe through the pathway, jolting when its speed increased as something like a vacuum pulled it under.
"Jesus -!"
"Damn, guess I owe Stanton those twenty bucks."
Noe gave her a puzzled look before realizing what she was talking about. The screen in front of them was showing a sudden increase in O2, and CO2 - an air pocket.
"You're kidding."
An incredulous smile grew on Reid's face as the probe's camera was picking up a dim, yellow-orange light. But the closer it got to the source, more static appeared on the feed.
"Shit, radiation's already taking affect."
"Can you get closer?"
"Dunno. I can try." she said with a shrug.
As the probe's camera breached the surface of the water, the floodlights barely illuminated what looked like a large cave. And on its shore was Leviathan, slowly turning to face the small probe that bobbed on the water's surface. Noe felt a chill down his spine.
The titan bared her teeth in a snarl, and in one swift movement Leviathan's tail whipped toward the probe, and with that the feed cut off.
"Aaand she's gone." Reid drawled.
After a long bout of stunned silence, Noe began pacing again. About a million thoughts were running through his mind but only one managed to make it past his mouth.
"What the hell are we gonna tell Castle Bravo?!"
Indian Ocean - Monarch Outpost 25 - Titanus Kraken
In his office beneath the sea, Dr. Ikande lay on his cot and watched the surface of the water ripple above him.
He had tried to take a nap - he hadn't slept in nearly a day - but sleep eluded him. He was too troubled. With the extremist attack in Yunnan to Dr. Russell's betrayal, it was too much to process. He knew her, his grad school dissertation had been based on some of her early work. He even had the privilege to meet her at a conference. It was there she recruited him for Monarch. And the fact that she had snapped like that was almost too hard to believe. Two titans were already on the loose because of her, and the running rumor was that she would try to release more.
He silently thanked himself that this underwater containment facility was probably one of the safest, simply from how far away it was from land. Anything that approached it would be noticed with ease. But that hadn't stopped him from worrying, of course.
He let the nap go, might as well get back to work.
He made his way out of the habitable part of the base - the living quarters, the control room, the labs - which were all relatively close to the surface. He kept walking until he came to an elevator - the one that took you straight down to the observatory, to Kraken.
They had discovered the sleeping titan on a seamount in relatively shallow water, curled around the remains of a nuclear sub that had been missing for decades. Monarch had ended up building the facility around him, but he was in such a deep hibernation he didn't seem to notice it at all. In the time since then they had learned quite a bit about him. Numerous x-rays, DNA analysis, and sonar scans had built a picture of what he must be like. His central brain was huge, far larger than it needed to be to control his body. And he had dozens of smaller brains associated with his limbs. Along with that, he had multiple hearts. There was no doubt in Ikande's mind that the creature held a certain amount of intelligence, possibly enough to rival a cephalopod's. Or a human's.
But unlike his octopoid cousins, his head was protected by a dense, curving shell not unlike a nautilus'. And his camouflage abilities were far superior to any of his smaller relatives. DNA suggested he could also change the color, pattern - even texture - of his skin and shell. When they found him he was nearly invisible, only being able to pinpoint his location by his radiation signature and bioacoustic emissions. But one of his more fascinating features - at least, in his opinion - was his ability to regenerate limbs, or virtually any part of his body.
As the elevator came to a stop, Ikande stepped out. One of the techs, Dr. Harris, looked up from her post and gave him a wave. Otherwise, the lab was empty.
He walked up to the window, and just outside lay one of Kraken's eyes. It was closed, and they had been closed for god know's how long. Dr. Jin, their resident paleobiologist, theorized he was in the middle of a sleep cycle that might last another decade at least. Unless he was threatened, of course.
They had taken great care to make him as comfortable as possible.
"Anything new?" he asked.
Harris shook her head. "Same as always. Bodily functions are normal, but at fairly low levels. How's topside? Any more titans on the run?"
"If there has, we haven't been informed. I almost feel slighted, why wouldn't our friend here be invited to the party?"
"Don't even say that." she replied, frowning. She leaned closer to the screen in front of her.
"What?"
"Nothing, I guess." she shrugged. "There was a little spike, but it went right back down."
Suddenly, the com light blinked on. He answered it.
"Ikande here."
"Doc? It's Teresa. We just got a flood of reports, titans have been released in at least four other outposts. Simultaneously."
"Released? By who, those extremists?"
"It's unclear. Things are kinda chaotic at the moment."
"'Course they are." he muttered, looking back at Harris, whose brows were deeply furrowed in confusion. "What is it, is he waking up?" he demanded.
If he was, at least the containment field still functioned. At least it was supposed to, there was no way to be certain, really. As much as it hurt him, their best bet was to use the kill switch. He was determined it wouldn't come to that.
"No, the opposite." she said. "His hearts are shutting down...he's dying."
"What - why?"
"No idea. It's like he's having an allergic reaction or something. Everything's dropping off, even his radiation signature."
Ikande stared at Kraken's lidded eye, trying to decide how he felt. The titan was put under his charge, and he had failed it. He knew how many Monarch scientists - Serizawa, Emma, Chen - felt about them. And even now he felt a twinge of sympathy for them. But on the other hand, if he died naturally, he wouldn't have to pull the kill switch.
"I..I don't understand." Harris whispered as she continued to watch the titan's vitals plummet.
"Call it in," he said. "Tell Castle Bravo we'll be sending them our data. Maybe whatever happened to -"
His mind stopped, voice catching in his throat. Kraken's eye was open, and it was staring right at him.
"Harris.." he said slowly. "Turn on the containment field."
"D-Done." she said. "But doc, I'm still getting nothing. All our scanners, they say he's dead."
"His eye just opened!"
"Maybe some postmortem reaction -" but then her voice broke off too.
One of Kraken's tentacles was suddenly right at the glass, pushing against the containment field - no, pushing through it. Effortlessly.
"Harris.." he said urgently.
"Th-The field, it only works on living titans," she said, getting up from her station so fast she knocked over the coffee cup that sat on her desk.
Ikande's skin prickled with goosebumps, suddenly feeling very cold as he pieced it all together. Shit.
The tentacle was already reaching for them as he sprung for the kill switch. But with a force greater than he ever could've anticipated, the pane of glass shattered as gallons of water poured into the room. Along with a river of limbs. He tried to swim toward the surface, desperately trying to reach the elevator but Kraken was far faster, grabbing the entire segment of the base and dragging it down to the depths.
Karnak, Egypt - Monarch Outpost 74 - Sekhmet
Chief officer Nadia Zaahir drummed her finger against the desk.
Surrounded by techs that busied themselves with their work, she was restless at the sudden gap in action. It wasn't that she was bored, but looking at the thing in the facility filled her with unease. The big cat in the heart of the temple had been sleeping like a baby for the past couple decades, but it wasn't until earlier that day that they were forced to use the emergency sedatives under Monarch's orders. As the hours passed, and the alerts poured in, it became startlingly clear as to why. At least they had taken affect, the titan's vitals holding steady. But in the blink of an eye something seemed to snap her out of the medicated haze.
With another rumble that shook the temple and its surrounding facility, everyone's panic only increased.
"What's going on? What woke her up" she asked one of the techs - Ibarra, if she remembered correctly.
"Nothing out of the ordinary, everything's working fine." she said. "It's like something told her to wake up."
Zaahir spoke into her earpiece. "Squads, you see anything?"
The aircraft that hovered around the facility reported negative, and the scanners remained empty. The entire desert was quiet.
"It's Sekhmet." Dr. Halla said. "The sedatives, weren't they enough?"
"Containment field?" Zaahir said.
"On it." Ibarra said, switching it on with the flick of her wrist.
In that moment, the giant feline roared - yawned? - as saber-like teeth unsheathed like swords the size of a car. The titan struggled against the field, quickly rousing herself from hundreds of years of sleep. The coarse fur on her back raised itself in alarm, eyes darting around the temple at the scrambling security personnel below.
"What the hell's going on now?" Zaahir shouted.
"She wasn't happy about that," Ibarra said. "And I'm getting something else, something on the bioacoustics monitor."
"Is it her?"
"Yes, and no. Her heartbeat's definitely increasing but I'm getting something else. It's out of our range but just barely detectable."
"Uhh, Zaahir?" Ibarra interrupted.
"What?"
She motioned toward the temple. Behind the glass, Sekhmet looked ready to pounce, repeatedly ramming herself against the field and yowling in frustration.
Zaahir spoke into the intercom. "All security personnel, ready your weapons."
"The field's collapsing," Halla said, nervous.
Outside, the containment field flickered the more she rammed into it. As if figuring out it wouldn't budge, she clawed at it, her massive claws sinking into the earth through the field and uprooting it from the temple.
"Shit, shit - all personnel, evacuate immediately." Zaahir shouted into the intercom.
The moment the words left her mouth, the field was torn apart, a rumble shaking the entire temple. Zaahir didn't have to tell them to get out before they all began scrambling for the exit.
As they ran through the hall of the facility, the ceiling was caving in on itself, pieces of stone falling all around them. Dozens of Monarch operatives were crowding the halls as well, pushing past each other for the exit as the big cat was undoubtedly ready to break out at any moment.
Looking behind her, she lost Ibarra and Halla in the stampede. Above the heads that sped past her, she found a hand flailing in the air. With a grunt, she pushed back, tugging up the tech by her arm before she was trampled.
The lights in the facility had already begun to flicker, the deep rumbling behind them getting louder before exploding altogether, sending debris flying their way. Everyone hit the floor like dominoes, and as Zaahir finally came to, she found many that had been similarly flattened. Chunks of wall and ceiling had crushed a good portion of the people in the hall, but that wasn't what caught her attention.
Eyes wandering to what remained of the containment field, Sekhmet was slowly rising to her feet. Zaahir was only a meter or two away from the exit when Ibarra started screaming next to her.
Immediately, she covered her mouth, shushing her as the cat's eyes zeroed in on them. Ibarra's leg was swallowed by a chunk of stone, and it didn't look like she could walk any time soon. So she stayed still. Not moving, her breath was caught in her throat as the creature's eyes assessed her form through the ruins. Not a creature, she thought. A god.
In her eyes, Zaahir didn't see the malice she had expected to find. Instead, it was something tired, irritated at most. The titan turned away, tail swishing behind her as she lowered her body, coiling to pounce.
Frantic, she pushed the stone from Ibarra's leg, the other biting down so hard on her lip to hold in the pain that a drop of blood dribbled down her chin. It was broken, a splinter of bone jutting out from skin, and she was bleeding pretty badly. Not wasting any time, Zaahir lifted her in both arms, running out of the ruined outpost as fast as her legs could carry her.
Outside, wind and sand whipped around them as one side of the remaining temple suddenly burst into nothing but crumbling stone. As they both scrambled through the burning sand, they could see the cause of the sudden explosion - Sekhmet, her matted fur flapping wildly as she shook herself free of the debris. Zaahir turned and stared.
She definitely resembled something like a smilodon - a slightly hunched back with a scruffy, mane-like crown circling her neck and fading down her back, long claws poking out from heavy-looking paws, a long whip-like tail with a thick wisp of fur at its tip. And of course, her two long canines. But her fur was far from any of her native cousins. Spots and stripes melded together like a natural camouflage, her sand-colored fur blending into the environment around her. Standing at her full height, nearly dwarfing the temple that had been built for her, she looked like a sphinx statue come to life.
The cat looked down at her feet, a confused hum building in her throat. Parts of the facility were still somehow intact, almost like the titan was trying to be careful. Nevertheless, survivors were scrambling from the building, screaming and tripping over one another in sheer panic. Sekhmet watched them like mice, and with a low careless sweep of her tail she knocked over at least a dozen people.
Just then, a squad of Ospreys flew over their heads, ready to unload what they had on the titan. But before they could even focus on her form, Sekhmet's ears flattened, hissing at the flying objects before pouncing on one. The rounds that landed didn't seem to bother her at all, but it definitely pissed her off. With an earth-shaking growl, she swatted an Osprey, easily knocking it out of the air like a fly. The barrage only continued, but it didn't last long as Sekhmet's claws shredded the aircraft with ease, splitting another in half with her teeth. Tired of the unwelcoming welcome party, she bounded away into the desert - straight toward Luxor. The remaining Osprey followed her trail.
Ibarra passed out in her arms before she could flag down an emergency evac.
Jebel Barkal, Sudan - Monarch Outpost 75 - Titanus Mokele-Mbembe
The ground twitched beneath Sergeant Carole Deschene's feet.
She almost didn't notice, but then she saw that nearly everyone in the control room was looking around, puzzled. Then the floor lurched, and everyone began to scream.
"Satellites?" she snapped.
"I've got nothing." one of the techs - Larson - said.
"Squads," Deschene spoke into her headset. "What are you seeing out there?"
None of the helicopters they had sent out had seen anything approach the outpost from the air, nor had they seen anyone on the ground. Nothing on any of their radars, either. The desert was quiet.
"It's M&M," Dr. Keller said. "He's moving."
"Hit the kill switch." Deschene said.
He shook his head. "We still have the containment field."
"Way ahead of you." Larson said, turning on the field.
In that moment, the floor kicked up hard, overturning tables, sending people and equipment into the air.
"What the hell's going on now?" Deschene shouted.
"Radiation levels are rising," Keller said. "And I'm getting something on the bioacoustics monitor."
"Mokele?"
"Yep. His heartbeat's speeding up. But there's something else - something more distant."
"Sir, he's pushing against the field." Larson interrupted.
Deschene switched on the radio. "I want all choppers back here, now. Recon units, you too - be ready to fight."
"He can't get through the field," Keller reassured her. "He can push all day but that thing won't budge. Yunnan was sabotaged, ours is still intact."
"Well, I call bullshit. He's trying to break out - you know what you have to do, and if you don't, I will."
"Sergeant, these creatures -"
Suddenly, the lights dimmed.
"Jesus.." Larson muttered.
"What?" Deschene snapped.
"The containment field, it just overloaded."
"Evacuate the base. Now." Deschene demanded, pushing past Keller and bolting toward the kill switch.
It was only a few feet away before the entire building flipped. Flailing through the air, she hit a wall so hard she swore her lungs would tumble out. She came to with the taste of blood on her tongue, the smell of something burning, and a sound like a rockslide that just wouldn't quit.
Bodies littered what used to be the containment facility, and the whole place was still shuddering. The power was dead, but light poured in through cracks in the metal ceiling.
As she rose to her feet, the room tilted again, slower this time, until it steadied itself. She was only a meter or two away from the exit. But as she made her way towards it, the door burst open with sand and debris pouring inside. The facility was sinking.
"Everybody out!" she called.
Keller was clearly dead, half-swallowed by the sand that had begun to fill the room. Larson was still moving, but dazed. Blood leaked from an ugly gash in her temple. Not wasting any time, she ran to her, throwing her arm around her shoulder as she lifted her out of the room.
Outside, the once level ground was now sloping down into a cavity in the earth. As they both scrambled up the mound of sand that was quickly forming above them, the building dropped another few feet, burying the door. Deschene turned and stared.
It was like watching a plant sprout from dirt, Mokele-Mbembe emerging from beneath one of the pyramids that surrounded the facility. Most of the outpost was still somehow intact. Monarch personnel were scrambling from the building, screaming and running with their arms flailing in fear.
The titan's back emerged first, pebbled like most lizard's hide. But then enormous five-clawed limbs pulled at the edge of the pit he created, and a long curved horn jutted out like a knife from the sand, followed quickly by his head. He looked like somewhat of an earless elephant, except his tusks turned down rather than up. His tail uncoiled like a snake, it was twice as long as his body. Then his trunk flared out, trumpeting an awful noise as if announcing his own arrival.
An Osprey whizzed over their heads, and then another, shooting out rounds of ammunition at the titan. Deschene looked back in time to see one of them hit Mokele on his back, but it didn't seem to bother him at all. Still, he whipped his trunk about, like swatting flies. In seconds he had knocked over dozens of people, taking out at least one Osprey in the process. As he stepped out of the pit, lurching forward on four strong legs, his tail sliced through a pyramid.
This world never belonged to us, she thought. Now they've come to take it back.
Skull Island - Monarch Outpost 33 - Titanus Kong
Alone. Quiet. Peaceful.
Kong sat on the mountain ridge, gazing upon his territory. The water around him glimmered with the rising sunlight, the waves crashing on the shores below. The grasslands and the jungles between the mountains were all hushed in the mellow morning. Creatures chittered to themselves as all began to rise. He scratched the space along his ribs, feeling the first rays of sunlight warm his fur. The last of his most recent wounds were already beginning to heal, and for the first time in a while he felt at ease.
Once the sun had reached its peak, he climbed down from the ridge, walking down his old paths, to the places where the world of night and day crossed into twilight - the hollows where the crawlers lived. He found that they were quiet too, their scents faint and old. He did not feel the rumble of their burrowing, so he went from valley to valley, searching. Maybe they had already made their way above ground to hunt.
He passed by the little ones that spoke to him in voices like wind, but they hadn't seen sign of the crawlers either.
Kong huffed, returning to his ridge and watched the colors of the sky fade from blue to orange to red, eventually fading to a deep purple. The sun burned behind the clouds until it too started to vanish, the moon rising in its wake. But there was something else in the evening breeze, something from a distant place - a place he did not know.
That was when he heard the call.
He had heard calls before. Not from the enemies who had slain his parents - the crawlers. Others somehow more like him in ways he couldn't explain. When he was young, he did not hear them often, but in recent seasons the calls were more frequent. Once he had heard one very near - too near - the island. His island. But it had wanted nothing of him, so he did not care.
But this one wanted something. Wanted him to leave his island. To hunt with it.
And from that call he heard responses. Dozens of them.
For decades upon decades, each season had been the same. The rains came and went, the island's subjects lived and died. And he went on as always. But something had changed now, made him restless, like an itch he couldn't scratch. It made him a little angry. He knew change was good, that was the way of nature. But this change wasn't good, wasn't right.
Let them hunt, he thought. He did not care about their islands, their kingdoms. Best they did not come after his.
But then he felt a familiar rumble in the stone beneath him, and his anger grew stronger. The crawlers had heard the call too, and they were waking.
Alone. Quiet. Peaceful. All of that was over.
With an irritated chuff, Kong began to hunt.
Yunnan Rainforest, China - Cocoon Site - Titanus Mosura
Dr. Houston Brooks woke up to a humid, misty morning in the Yunnan Province's highlands. Taking a science team and a squad of soldiers with him, they drove down to the waterfall.
The storm continued to roll above them, high winds bending the tops of the trees. Rain thundered down in nearly solid sheets, and he nervously gripped the radio in his hand. There had been another titan released - Rodan. And now all hell was breaking loose. They had lost contact with Monarch HQ, and all outside communications were sketchy as hell.
By the time they reached the camp, the road was close to being a river. As he pushed his way into the command tent, Brooks was met with chaos. He pushed through the rabble to Dr. Gillian, who stood hunched over a radio.
"Castle Bravo? This is containment team Mosura, do you read?" she shouted into the radio. She looked worried.
"Anything?" he asked.
"No, sir, we've been completely cut off." she yelled over the cacophony. "We've been trying for hours but we haven't been able to make contact with the Argo, Castle Bravo, and the other containment sites."
"Which ones?"
"All of them." Brooks hadn't known Gill for being easily spooked, but hearing the fear in her voice gave him a chill. "Angkor Wat, Skull Island, Stone Mountain - all the titans, they're escaping."
Gill played back the last transmissions they had received from the other outposts: Behemoth shattering buildings in Rio de Janeiro, Methuselah stomping through Munich, Scylla stalking through Phoenix - among dozens of others.
"Jesus.." he murmured.
Only one monitor was different - Monster Zero, the three-headed dragon, sitting atop a volcano in Isla de Mara. They were roaring. And then something clicked in Brooks' mind.
"It's him," he said. "He's the one doing this. They're all responding to his call."
Out of nowhere, the power within the tent flickered for a moment, then fading out altogether. He turned to Gill.
"Where's Dr. Ling?"
_____
Ling stood before the waterfall, staring through the glistening curtain of water at Mothra's cocooned form within. Feeling her presence.
From the moment she arrived at the site she had not informed her superiors of everything she knew. She felt a little bad about it, but there were simply some things she could not explain with words. If she were being honest, she wasn't sure of all the facts herself. Only what her mother and aunt told her, and her grandmother and her great-aunt. The stories they had passed to her and her sister were not collected from their culture, but instead passed down from an endless line of mothers and daughters.
We're connected to her, she'd been taught. Connected for numberless generations.
She had wondered if it was true. How much of her matriline's mythology was real, and how much was mere fantasy created by time? Her sister had always been one to easily believe such things, but Ling needed more proof than what was essentially a long game of telephone.
But there was no denying that Mothra was real, she could never deny that. She had learned of her existence at a very young age, and not just from stories. Firsthand. It was so long ago, and it was so strange that sometimes she thought she had dreamed it. But the connection was tangible. She'd felt it then, and she felt it now, growing ever stronger.
In the past couple hours, something had changed. In the cocoon, Mothra shivered, as if she felt a jolt of some sort. All scanners within the camp confirmed that her metamorphosis had quickened in response.
In the back of her mind, Ling felt a presence pushing through. She let her in.
In an instant, she was met with a flurry of images - lightning, fire, death, the sea, light. It took all of her concentration not to fall unconscious right there, but her lineage had prepared her for this moment. But unlike the stories she had been told, she was alone. Dr. Ilene Chen was half-way across the world, but Ling couldn't fail the sleeping goddess, not now.
As the typhoon continued to swell overhead, she stood in the rain, ignoring the chill - listening, urging Mothra to hurry toward her second birth.
_____
Gill had known where Ling was, although it wasn't hard to guess. Since arriving at the site she was almost always at Mothra's side. Running out into the rain, Brooks following close behind, they found her kneeling with her backs to them. Rain pelted her from all sides, and her coat was more than soaked. And yet she remained as still as a statue.
"Dr. Ling?" she shouted, trying to cut through the howling wind. "We've lost contact with Monarch!"
She didn't turn around.
For a brief moment, the rain slackened, winds dying down to a harsh whistle. Above, the clouds seemed to part, and somewhere beyond the treeline creatures of all sort began to stir with unrest. Or in worship. A trail of what looked like fireflies began pouring from the jungle and the roof of the grotto that held the waterfall, flickering in tune to a rhythm Gill couldn't hear. And the cocoon flickered too, rippling, glowing with bioluminescence. Tears began to form in the fabric of the chrysalis, the fireflies dancing around it like a thousand tiny supplicants.
But as they passed before Gill's eyes, she could see that they weren't fireflies at all - but rather hundreds of bioluminescent moths. And they were all converging around Mothra's cocoon, almost as if they were assisting her entrance like minuscule handmaidens. A tiny smile grew on her face as they fluttered past her, watching in awe.
"Dr. Ling?" Gill said as she got closer to the woman.
Over the sound of the waterfall and Mothra's increasing thrumming, she heard a voice. It was soft, faint, and it almost sounded like someone singing. It was Ling. As she knelt before the cocoon, hands clasped together, a stream of words in a language she didn't understand streamed from her mouth. Though Gill didn't know the words, it almost sounded like a prayer, a plea.
In that moment, the cocoon split, one long insectile leg stretching out. Ling's singing became louder, more passionate.
Everyone in the camp was outside now, bathed in the light that encompassed the waterfall, watching in wonder at the goddess' rebirth. Despite knowing that she should feel afraid at the thought of another titan breaking free, there was something different about this one. Something more important.
From one second to the next, a head slowly broke through the curtain of water, more legs landing on the ground almost gracefully. Carefully.
Ling rose, lifting the hood of her coat as her gaze followed Mothra's rising form. As she sang, her words seemed to harmonize with the titan's own vocalizations, until they both seemed to be singing the same song. But much bigger and far more meaningful. Gill could only watch in reverence as the titan unfurled her wings, a wave of light surging from Mothra's body to its gossamer tips. Gill could almost feel her throat want to close up at the sight of it, instead taking a deep steady breath.
She was beautiful.
The other titans were free, and Mothra had heard their cries. Now it was her turn.
As Mothra stepped from the waterfall, looking down at the tiny beings all staring back up at her, Gill felt something stir in the back of her mind. Mothra leaned down, antennae twitching as she locked eyes with Ling. The doctor looked a little otherworldly in the blue light, and her expression was nothing short of reverential. Slowly, as if asking for permission, she outstretched her hand, placing it on a patch of the downy fuzz that covered the titan's head. But then Mothra's gaze went past her, towards Gill, and Ling's followed soon after.
Ling brought out another hand, gesturing to Gill. Confused, it took her a moment before she pointed a finger at herself, questioning.
"It's alright," she said. "She remembers you."
Remembers?
Gill nearly gasped. All those times back in the temple - where she would examine the pupating larva with Ling, Chen, and Emma - she would talk to it. She thought that maybe, it would comfort the larva, prepare it for the strange new world she would surely be born into. She never would've thought it'd have any impact. Sheepishly, Gill took Ling's hand, letting her guide it to rest on top of Mothra's head. It was soft, if not a little damp from the waterfall. Gill let out a breathless laugh.
Suddenly, one of Mothra's forelimbs raised itself, stopping just between Ling and Gill. Ling hoisted herself upon it, sitting on the rough chitin.
"Wh-What are you doing?"
"There's no other way to contact Monarch HQ, right?" once again, she extended a hand. "She knows how to help."
"I-I don't - um.." nervously, her head whipped around at Brooks. He looked just as clueless.
"Well?"
She knew there wasn't any time to waste, so with a giddy smile, Gill took her hand. Mothra lifted them closer to her head, allowing them to climb comfortably to the space just between her antennae. Jodie's not gonna believe this, she thought to herself.
With a loud, melodious cry, Mothra pushed herself off the ground and took flight.

The Sweater || @snxwdrxke (closed)
Snowy was quick to leave his classroom when he got a text from Napsty. He couldn’t believe that asshole would go so far as making Napsty have to be in the bathroom like that. The male quickly stepped into the bathroom and frowned. “Napsty? Are you here?” __ Nasty worked up when they heard Snowy, sniffling and wiping their eyes with their arm. “Y-yeah… Is it just you in here?” they murmured from one of the stalls, wanting to make sure before they unlocked it. __ When Snowy heard his best friends voice, he frowned. They sounded terrible. “Yeah it’s just me. Is everything okay?” That was a stupid question. __ The teen slowly unlocked the stall and peeked out. “Uhm… C-can you come in here, please…?” They didn't want to risk someone else walking in and seeing them. __ Snowy just grew more concerned at Napsty’s words. He nodded though. “Yeah of course.” He spoke, moving to the stall and stepping in. What he saw made his eyes widen. “Oh my god Napsty, did that asshole do this?” __ Napsty quickly closed and locked the stall door behind Snowy, looking down. They were so embarrassed, but Snowy was the only one they could trust to help them with this. Their sweater was completely torn down the front, and not neatly. It looked as if someone had ripped it with their bare hands, because that was exactly what happened. “Y-yeah…” they mumbled, wiping at the steady stream of tears flowing down their cheeks. “I-I can't go to class like this…” __ “Oh Napsty, I’m so so sorry.” He spoke, trying to think. An idea quickly came to him and the male unzipped his jacket, holding it to the teen. “It’s not much but you’ll be able to get to class. I’m sorry. I swear i'm going to beat his ass again.” __ Napsty looked up when Snowy offered them his jacket, taking it gingerly. “Thanks…” They slipped their arms into the sleeves and zipped up the front, sniffling. They were silent for a moment, then glanced up at Snowy. “I-I can't even wear my favourite sweater to school…” __ Snowy waited for the whitenette to slip into the jacket before wrapping his arms around them. “I know, Napsty. I’m sorry, people here are such dicks.” __ They leaned against their best friend, clinging to him and resting their head in his shoulder. “I-I didn't think it'd draw attention… I wouldn't have worn it if I thought it would…” __ “I know.” He murmured, kissing their head and holding them closer. “It shouldn’t be a big deal. He is such an asshole.” Snowy moved one hand to softly comb through their hair. __ They nodded, sniffling again. They wished they could just stay here with Snowy instead of going to class. But they were just delaying the inevitable. “S-sorry, I'm keeping you from you class…” they murmured, lifting their head to look up at Snowy. __ Snowy quickly shook his head. “No, it’s okay. Seriously. I’d rather be here with you right now.” He nuzzled the teen. “You keep that hoodie nice and close to you. Even though I can't be in class with you, I’m still here.” __ Napsty nodded, the sudden urge to kiss Snowy hitting them. It was a bit embarrassing, but Snowy didn't have to know. He was just too sweet to them. “Th-thanks, Snowy… It really means a lot…” __ Snowy smiled and nodded. “Of course. I want you happy.” He hummed, nuzzling him once more before pulling open the stall. “C’mon. I don’t want you in trouble either.” __ They moved quickly to cling to Snowy’s hand, but nodded. “Uhm… W-would it be alright if… if you walked me to class…? You don't have to… I don't want to pressure you into it… I'm just nervous about walking there by myself…” __ Snowy gave a soft smile at Napsty’s words. He pressed a soft kiss to their cheek and nodded. “I’d love to walk you there.” He hummed, squeezing their hand. __ Napsty sighed in relief, a little grin pulling at their lips when Snowy kissed their cheek. “Okay… Thanks…” Only then did they step out of the stall, feeling a bit more confident knowing they wouldn't be walking through the halls alone. __ “Of course.” He spoke before leading the teen out the door. He knew all the classes Napsty had, so it was easy to know where he was going. “You gonna be okay?” __ Napsty followed close beside Snowy, nodding at his words. “I think so…” They didn't want Snowy to worry too much, so they didn't mention that the bully was in their class. But there would be a teacher there. Hopefully that meant he wouldn't try anything.” __ The male nodded. “Alright. Text me if you’'ll need me again, yeah?” He spoke, squeezing their hand. __ They nodded. “I will… Thanks, Snowy…” __ “Of course. I’d do anything for you.” He smiled. The male stopped once they reached the classroom. “This is your stop.” He chuckled, moving his hands to straighten out the jacket a bit. “You look beautiful. Don’t let anyone else's words mean anything.” __ Napsty stopped walking when Snowy did, looking up at him as he straightened out the jacket on them. Their eyebrows rose, a blush rising to their cheeks. They hardly knew what to say, and only ended up murmuring, “O-okay…” __ “Okay.” He nodded, looking around before pressing a quick kiss to their cheek. “I’ll see you later then?” __ Their heart sputtered when Snowy kissed their cheek, but they did their best to nod anyway, a little smile pulling at their lips. “Mmhmm… And thanks again, Snowy… You're really the best best friend ever…” __ “No worries, Napsty.” He hummed. “You’re the best best friend ever though.” He sighed then. “Alright. Let’s get to class. “I’ll text ya later!” He waved. __ They giggled, waving back. “Okay… Bye…” They turned to enter their classroom, steeling themselves for the natural state that came when walking into class late. Unfortunately, it didn't go as well as they had hoped. At the soonest possible moment he got, the bully pointed out Napsty’s inappropriate attire beneath Snowy’s sweater, nearly unzipping it all the way down just to humiliate them. They were already in tears as they rushed to zip it back up, sure they were in trouble when the teacher asked them to come to her desk to speak with them. Instead, she had the class mind their own business for a bit, and asked how their shirt had been ruined. They explained, quietly, what had happened, and in the end, she decided to send them home with the information she'd be going over for the day so they wouldn't miss out. As they shuffled out of the room, more than happy for the silence in the halls, they texted Snowy. [text]: its a long story, but im going home… ill tell you what happened later if you want… you can come over if you'd like… no pressure, though… whatever you want to do… __ The last thing Snowy expected was to get a text about Napsty going home. He thought everything would be okay. [Text] I’m sorry. Are you Okay? I’ll come over for sure! I can ditch the rest of school. __ [text] yeah, im alright… you don't have to ditch… i’d feel bad if you got in trouble because of me again… whatever you want to do, though… ill be home, so ill be safe… __ [TEXT] You sure? You know I’d drop everything just for you. The male frowned then sent another text. [TEXT] After this period is over, I’ll head over. I can't finish school know all that happened. __ Even just reading Snowy’s texts caused Napsty to blush. [text] if you really want to leave school early, ill be happy to see you… i think there's a pizza in the freezer i could put in the oven too… we could just hang out for a while… if you want to… __ Snowy smiled, glad Napsty didn’t mind. [TEXT] Pizza sounds awesome! I’ll be looking forward to It! I’ll see you in about an hour or so Then? __ [text] yeah… see you soon… They didn't want to disturb Snowy’s class anymore, but they were happy they'd get to see him again. They were really looking forward to eating pizza and snuggling with him. Maybe they could even take a nap together. __ Snowy was all to anxious for the class to end, and when it finally did, he practically ran out of the school, catching the first bus he could. When he got on, the male knew just where he was going. It was just going to be a little bit of a detour. He made his way to the mall, quickly finding the H&M. He knew the exact sweater for Napsty. He held the clothing close before purchasing the sweater and heading out once more. It still took him longer than he’d liked, and he was running the whole time. Snowy was still panting when the male knocked on the door, sending Napsty a final text. And holding the bag close. [Text] I’m here, finally. Sorry I took so long. ___ When Napsty got home, they immediately changed into their favourite sweater dress and leggings, and put Snowy’s jacket on a hanger. After that, they curled up under a blanket on their bed, sitting upright so they wouldn't fall asleep. They played games on their phone until they got the text from Snowy, and they quickly hopped out of bed, straightening out the fabric of their dress before hurrying out to answer the door. As they pulled it open, they looked up at Snowy. “You know you can just come in, right…? You don't have to wait for me to let you in…” __ Snowy smiled when Napsty opened the door. He gave a small laugh at their words. “I know but I still feel like I needa.” He shrugged before holding his bag to the teen. “For you~” He cooed. __ Napsty was already stepping back to allow Snowy room inside, but paused when he held a bag out to them. “For… me…?” they murmured, slowly taking the bag from him. The peeked inside it, and gave a tiny gasp, looking back up at Snowy with wide eyes. “You… You got me a new sweater…?” __ Snowy smiled at Napsty’s reaction. They always looked so cute. “Yup! I know how much you loved it. And you looked so cute in it. I wanted you to have it and I want you to be happy.” He hummed. __ They blinked, and all at once, their eyes welled up and tears spilled down their cheeks. “Oh, y-you really didn't have to… but thank you… D-do you want me to pay you back…?” __ When Snowy saw Napsty begin to cry, he quickly wrapped his arms around them and pulled the teen close. “Not at all. You don't owe me anything. It’s a gift I really just wanted to see you smile again.” __ Napsty willingly snuggled into Snowy’s embrace, resting their head against his shoulder. “Y-you're really the best best friend ever… Thank you, Snowy… I-I’ll take much better care of this sweater, I promise…” __ Snowy smiled as Napsty snuggled him and rested their head. “I’m glad you think so.” He spoke, kissing the top of their head. “I believe you, whatever you want to do. I'm here now.” __ Napsty nodded, sniffling a bit and lifting their head to look up at him. “Oh, well… are you hungry…? I didn't want to make the pizza before you got here so it'd be fresh, but I can put it in the oven now… Only if you're hungry, though…” __ Snowy gave a small nod. “Mmhmm, I am.” He smiled. “You can put it in now, that sounds really good.” __ “O-okay..." They pulled away to wipe their eyes, backing up and pulling the door further open so Snowy could come inside. “My mom's working right now, so she won't be home for another few hours...” __ Snowy still let his hand rest on Napsty for a moment until they pulled the door open further. The teen stepped inside and nodded. “Alright, and she won't mind me just being here?” Snowy had known Napsty for so long, he knew it wouldn't be a problem, but he still had to ask. __ Napsty nodded, closing and locking the door behind them. “Oh, of course… She never does… We've been friends so long… and she knows you're my only good friend… so she doesn't mind…” They tilted their head then. “Could you get the pizza out of the freezer for me...? I'm going to hang up the sweater first, then I'll put the pizza in... I got the oven preheated a while ago…” They had expected Snowy a little sooner, after all, but considering what he was doing, they didn't mind. __ Snowy chuckled. “I know. I always gotta ask to make sure though.” He hummed then gave a nod. “Of course!” The teen chirped, giving the male a wave and trotting to the kitchen to get the pizza out. He got it out and unwrapped, finding a pan to put it on as well. “Ready!” He called. __ Napsty hurried to their room to hang the sweater up. They made sure that it was nice and flat so it wouldn't wrinkle, then returned to the living room just as Snowy spoke. “Okay, thank you…” They joined him in the kitchen, blinked when they saw he'd even set it on a pan. “Oh, you didn't have to do all that… Thank you…” __ “I don't mind. It was fun.” He laughed, giving a grin. “You’re welcome~ I’ll let you do the honour of putting it in the oven though, then we wait!” __ They nodded, picking the pan up and moving to the oven, putting the pizza in before setting the timer. Then they turned to Snowy. “So… What do you want to do while we wait…?” __ Snowy thought for a moment but shrugged. “I dunno. I just wanted to hang out with you.” He smiled. “Maybe we can take a nap till the pizzas done?” __ Napsty’s eyes lit up. “Oh… If you're okay with that… A nap does sound really nice.” __ “Of course! I know It’s been a pretty crazy day.” He smiled. “Plus I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. Spent too long playing video games.” __ They giggled. That sounded like Snowy, alright. “You definitely need a nap then…” They took Snowy’s hand and led them to their bedroom, picking their phone up from their bed. “Oh… I should set an alarm on my phone too… in case I don't hear the oven timer…” __ Snowy squeezed the teens hand as they led him toward the bedroom. The teen gave a nod. “Yeah, probably. I honestly think we’ll sleep forever if you don't.” He chuckled with a grin. __ They giggled. “Yeah…” They set the alarm for when the pizza was supposed to be done, then headed to their bed climbing in first and setting their phone in the window sill. Then, they released Snowy’s hand so they could shimmy under the blankets, scooting back toward the wall to give Snowy a lot of room. “Nap time…” __ Snowy watched the teen get comfortable in bed, then once Napsty was under the covers, Snowy joined them, taking to snuggling as close to them as he could, resting his head on their shoulder. “Mmhmm, sleep well Napsty.” He mumbled. __ As soon as Snowy was in bed with them, they were cozy enough to fall asleep right that moment. Instead, they stayed awake long enough to respond, “You too… Thanks for everything, Snowy…” __ Snowy smiled. “Of course, Napsty. I’d do anything for you.” He spoke softly, snuggling closer to the whitenette. __ They gave a contented sigh, one hand moving to rest against Snowy’s chest. The extra reassurance that he was close set their mind at ease, and they immediately fell asleep.
