next class thoughts as i rewatch season 1
• #bootycall is an atrocious series opener im sorry
• everyone acting like zig playing guitar is the weirdest thing in the world is so ???? maybe if they listened to 'be my someone' by whisperhug they would understand
• tristan trying to market himself as degrassis first gay student council president makes me want to cry. HOW DARE YOU STAND WHERE MARCO ONCE STOOD
• miles hollingsworth is a gift to mankind
• this whole storyline where shay and lola become concerned with frankies mental health bc she got highlights is hilarious
• "you dyed your hair...we thought you might....kill youself." brilliant writing
• i hate jonah but frankie crying and venting to him while hes like 'ok😐 idc😐 can you get out 😐' IS SO FUNNY
• miles going on this fake deep 'NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS IF THEY ARENT POSITIVE' rant ...king of mental health awareness
• love how the rubber room kids are suddenly allowed in normal classes and are the cool kids after being portrayed as delinquents for two whole seasons... and how the rubber room has ceased to exist just like the gifted program
• "THEY GIF-ED ME"
• esme song and hunter hollingsworth my unhinged beloveds
• "mood killer" "im about to be a serial killer" i like grace sometimes
• maya 'horny on main' matlin
• i love my girl maya but her dunking that assholes phone in a drink was not the serve she thought it was
• miles and esme are such obnoxious assholes and i love it
• whisperhug reference? in MY degrassi next class??????
• this season is so fun but absolutely terrible for anyone coming into the show blind, almost all of the characters come off as insanely unlikeable
(more under the cut)
• everytime lolas family restaurant shows up i just think of "wait, if all the food here is mexican, what makes this place argentinian?" "me, obviously"
• god the maya feminism plotline is SOOO on the nose
• me listening to not okay: damn i wish i was listening to black or white right now
• damn tiny moves FAST
• winston my bestie you deserved way more screen-time
• i think people who hate esme just hate fun but thats just my opinion
• zig and tiny being mens rights activists im crying..... tiny i will save u...... zig you can die
• lolas masturbation plotline is so fun especially in comparison to the bleakness of miles drug addiction plot and the on the nose-ness of mayas feminism plot
• zig being personally offended that maya identifies as a feminist is SO funny im sorry
• i know i just said that miles' drug storyline is bleak as shit but him being high out of his mind and chanting 'LETS GO HUNTER' is so funny
• miles and esme popping pills in class theyre literally insane... this show is so camp
• im sorry i love the freaky little gamers so much
• love how hunter uses the word 'populars' in place of 'normie' because the degrassi writers were too afraid of actually writing hunter as a 4channer
• goldi is written as such a strawman im so sorry queen.....,
• hunter making some good points immediately followed up by him being insanely racist is so fucking funny
• im a zasha stan but oh my god the way they murdered gracevas in one singular episode is insulting
• "AM I HOTTER THAN JONAH? BE HONEST" never stop being zig novak, zig novak
• speaking of which have i mentioned how insufferable jonah is because god he sucks
• "youre not welcome here" "ooooh role reversal, fun!" ESME SONG I AM OBSESSED WITH YOU
• eric osborne was eating up every other mf in that cast
• as someone who really liked the zoë/zig dynamic in TNG, the whole 'having sex to get back at grace/maya' thing makes me want to die fr
• esme pulling the 'YOUR LIFE IS SHIT AND YOURE NOTHING WITHOUT ME' shit when miles tells her he wants to recover from his addiction... shes so manipulative but i cant hate her
• THE CHLAMYDIA EPISODE
• baaz vijay and yael i can fix u!!!!! i will save you from the grasp of hunter hollingsworth i prommy
• frankston is actually really cute this season if only frankie wasnt obsessed with JONAH
• the look of the school is so bizarre bc its the same building but everything looks so WEIRD its so uncanny valley
• ok, rape and death threats on twitter i can believe, but mayas address being leaked on REDDIT??????? im literally never getting over this its so funny. just make a fake kiwifarms if you wanted to make a plot about online harassment and doxing like KF existed in 2016
• miles hollingsworths back must HURT from carrying the shit out of this season
• "YOURE GOING TO DIE" i know i shouldnt think this but this storyline is so funny
• jankie is a pathetic excuse for enemies to lovers like holy shit
• i really wish we got to see a smidge of the gamers friendship dynamic this season though bc the way theyre written it just feels like the other 3 are clinging to hunter bc they have no one else while hunter gets them to help with his dumb revenge scheme. idk i wish their friend group in general was more fleshed out and less hunter-centric bc baaz yael and vijay just feel like non characters
• have i mentioned how much i love esme like omg shes such a piece of shit and its amazing
• that short little scene where hunter and baaz are tweeting more gross shit at maya and baaz is like 'ADD HASHTAG JUST SAYING' oh my god this is hilarious
• MAYA PLAY DIFFERENT SONGS CHALLENGE
• once again i love baaz yael and vijay they r so spoingy goingy <3 i love hunter but he can choke
• WINSTON MY BABY YOU DESERVE SO MUCH BETTER
• none of the gamer kids are threatening because theyre all like 15 lmaoooo
• winston and miles are actually boyfriends i cant believe this
• zig novak i hope you die
• noooooo hunter dont do it dont pull a rick murray nooooooooooooo definitely dont shoot zig nooo
• comparing the lockdown in #sorrynotsorry to the lockdown in all falls down is like night and day lmao
• "he was there. he was easy" "what do you mean easy?" she means zig novak is a whore maya
• miles and hunter :( :( :( :(
• tears, zig? didn't expect to s-[GUNSHOT]
• baaz x shay is my new favorite crack ship
• spencer macpherson and eric osborne kings of acting yassss
• wrapup thoughts: this season is so camp tbh. like it sucks a lot and i hate that this is what people think of when NC is brought up because NC 3 and 4 are really really good and dont get the attention they deserve bc NC1 and 2 are so bad but its still a fun season! miles esme and hunter are always extremely fun to watch, but the excessive screentime given to zig, maya (i love her but none of the storylines shes given do her justice), tristan, frankie and jonah makes it a lot worse. anyways im gonna go rewatch season 10 for the 10000th time
#degrassi#degrassi next class#long post#if anyone reads the entire thing you are a saint thank u for listening to my insane ramblings

You have always been a big fan of quidditch, but unfortunately your abilities were never enough to become a professional. Luckily however, your father was the coach of the Puddlemere quidditch team. It was a daily occurrence for you to appear on their practice, overtime even becoming friends with some of the team members.
Benjy, the seeker of the team and Jocelind, one of the chasers quickly grew fond of you. Although your friendship started off on a rocky road. The two of them had a mission to tease you about their keeper, Oliver Wood’s crush on you. They thought his tries to catch your attention would be obvious to everyone, but it seemed you were the only one who couldn’t see it. Benjy and Jo made it their duty to remind you every single day how badly Oliver had fallen for you. Just like on that particular day, before one of their most important matches.
“Can you just stop?” You exhaled, pleading with the pair, the same subject repeating itself daily. Falling back onto one of the benches of the changing room, you heaved a heavy sigh, tired of their constant nagging.
“Sure, will you accept that Wood has a crush on you?” Benjy asked, teasingly wiggling his brows as he took a seat beside you, nudging your shoulder playfully.
“No! I will not! When he joined the team, he was this shy little boy, trying to adjust. He always talked to me, he always came to me for advice. If back then you said he had a crush on me, I might have believed you. But since then, he has become popular, girls and boys falling on their knees in front of him. I just can’t see it and I doubt out of all his choices I would be a contender,” you explained, sighing deeply.
“For Merlin’s sake,” Jo exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air, “each time he gives an autograph he is looking for your eyes, hoping for you to notice him. When the papers are taking photos of us, he looks like a meerkat trying to get your attention. How dumb can you be, woman?” She groaned as she folded her arms in front of her chest, shaking her head disapprovingly.
“You have had a crush on him for years, do something already,” Benjy added quickly before you could have replied. “Wood is my friend and I know him, he is mad for you.”
“Guys, please,” you pleaded, wanting to close the subject finally. “I would like nothing more than to believe you, but there’s no way Wood—,” before you could have continued, the entrance door of the changing room opened, a tall figure entering, his head covered under a hoodie, his clothes soaked, raindrops dripping to the floor.
“Oh, hi,” he lifted his head, revealing his identity. Pushing back his hoodie, you caught his dark eyes as he ran his hand across his short-cut, brown hair, his mere presence causing your cheeks to warm up. “You are early,” he added as none of you replied.
“Yeah, wanted to beat some sense into this woman,” Jo replied with a groan, clearly still annoyed by your blindness for Oliver’s feelings.
“Maybe I should beat some into you,” huffing, you crossed your arms in front of your chest, turning away from your friend’s gaze.
“Okay, why don’t we just take a deep breath and calm down?” Benjy interrupted.
“You clearly have something to discuss, should I leave?” Oliver asked as he looked around the three of you with a confused expression painted across his handsome face.
“Yes,” Jo replied, but you couldn’t handle another lecture.
“No,” you added, wanting to just stop them from nagging you any further.
“Well, that was helpful,” Oliver scoffed, trying to stop the little smirk from appearing in the corner of his lips. “So, which is it then?”
“No, because if you stay, it means they will quiet down finally and I need them to stop nagging me,” you replied as you stood up from the bench and headed towards the door. “Instead of getting on my nerves, you should start getting ready for the match,” you huffed in annoyance.
“As far as I’m concerned your father is our coach, not you,” Jo replied with gritted teeth.
“Indeed. But guess what, he would say the same,” you offered her a smug grin as you stepped out of the changing room, loudly shutting the door behind yourself.
As you headed to your father’s office, you heard loud footsteps following you. Turning around, you saw Oliver run after you, his clothes still drenched in water, but it didn’t stop him from coming after you. A soft smile appeared on your face as you patiently waited for him.
“Are you doing ground exercises?” You asked playfully as the boy finally halted beside you, trying to adjust his breathing.
“Very funny,” he scoffed, but you caught a tiny smile appearing in the corner of his lips. “I couldn’t stand the mood in the changing room. I have no idea what you have done, but Jo is quite pissed off,” he added, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.
“Did they tell you what we argued about?” You asked, panic settling deep inside you as you realised Oliver might just know of your crush on him.
“Nah, they didn’t say anything, other than that you are being stubborn and blind for whatever reason,” he furrowed, the words without context making no sense to him.
“So, I’ve heard,” you grimaced as you started walking towards your father’s office once again.
“Wait, can I ask you what the argument was about?” He reached for your arm, wrapping his long fingers around your wrist. You turned back to look at him over your shoulder, his eyes holding curiosity.
“The person I like,” you replied, hoping for some sort of reaction from him.
“O— oh,” he breathed, somewhat disappointed as he let go of your wrist. The way he acted was certainly not what you expected and for a mere second you could see what Jo and Benjy were talking about. But a reasonable part of your brain quickly adjusted and decided to send you signals that reassured you it was probably just an involuntary reaction with no meaning behind it.
“Anyways, I will go and see my father. Maybe you should get ready,” you offered him a soft smile as you patted his shoulder and wished him good luck for the game.
As the match started, the rain was still pouring heavily, a batch of lightning struck on the ground, the players barely able to avoid them in time. You hid under your soaked hoodie as you cheered for the team, but deep down your stomach was in a knot, hoping for everyone to leave the game unscraped.
“Come on, Wood!” You shouted as the opponent flew towards his hoops, but luckily, he kicked the quaffle out of the way. His eyes looked for you for a good few seconds, before he caught sight of you and offered you a cheerful grin that you couldn’t stop from mirroring.
The match was rather aggressive, and the weather didn’t help the situation. Whilst you watched your friends fly around the pitch, their blue and yellow cloak following them in their route, a nervous feeling settled in you as a heavy rumble shook the area.
You stood up from the spectator stand and started heading down the stairs, wanting to feel closer to your friends. However, as you looked up, the next thing you saw was a blinding lighting that struck straight into the ground, sending none other than Oliver Wood off his position straight into the wall of the spectator stand across the pitch. A loud scream left your lungs, your heart beating in a dangerous pace as you watched his unconscious body fall towards the ground before someone slowed him down mid-air. Looking down at the benches, you saw your father with his wand in his hand pointing towards Oliver’s limp body, slowly placing him down on the fake grass.
As you started running down the stairs, you never felt more determined. You needed to see him, feel his pulse, check his body for injuries. It was driving you crazy how slowly your body moved before you finally caught sight of him surrounded by a couple of healers as they placed him on a stretcher. Almost feeling him in your grasp, you started running towards the injured boy, but before you could have caught up with the healers, two arms wrapped around you, pulling you back against a strong chest.
“He is going to be okay,” you heard your father’s voice, trying to sooth your worries away.
“Let me see him. Please, dad,” you replied, your voice weak and shaky. He turned you around and pulled you into a fatherly hug, just like the ones you received when you were little. As you finally started calming down, he leaned back and cupped your cheeks, removing the tear stains from your face that you didn’t even realise you had under the heavy rain.
“The healers will help him, but they will not let you in just yet, so take a deep breath, sit down with me on the bench and as soon as they signal for me, I will let you go. Sounds like a good plan?” He asked, hoping you would be able to think reasonably. After a heavy sigh you nodded, knowing that you couldn’t possibly do anything for him. You headed back towards the benches with your father and as they blew the whistle again, you listened to the game, but your mind was somewhere else, to be exact on the boy that the healers rushed away from you before you could even check on him.
It felt like eternity before your father placed a hand on your shoulder and nodded towards the exit of the pitch. Without a word or a thankful look, you started running after the healer that stood at the gate. When you arrived you greeted him and followed him diligently to the medical wing. The path felt like you’ve been walking for hours, even though it was only a couple of minutes. You were impatient, you wanted to see Oliver for yourself, making sure he was okay.
As you reached the medical wing and the large wooden doors opened, your eyes frantically searching for Oliver. As you caught his figure at the back of the room, you rushed up to him and sat down on the small stool beside his bed and took his hand in yours, squeezing it reassuringly. Although it was you who needed to be reassured that he was alright. His eyes started slowly flattering before he finally opened them, looking around the room in confusion, groaning as he turned his head.
“Stay put, Wood,” you instructed him as you pulled your stool closer. “How are you feeling? Are you in a lot of pain?” You bombarded him with questions.
“I’m fine. My head and my back hurts, but I’m okay,” a small smile spread across his face as he squeezed your hand.
“You scared me,” you scolded him as you slapped the back of his hand gently, making him chuckle lightly.
“I didn’t mean to,” he replied with an innocent expression, but a hidden smile in the corner of his lips. “What happened exactly? I’m kind of blurry on the details.”
“A lightning struck beside you and it sent you straight into one of the spectator walls. When you started falling dad slowed you down to stop you from getting any further injuries,” you explained with a deep frown across your brows and concern lacing your eyes. “It was horrible,” you added with a shaky breath as you played with his hand in yours.
“Hey,” he called out to you in a soft tone, lifting his other hand to cup your cheek. “I’m perfectly fine, just a few little bruises,” he tried to reassure you, but your worry was still clear across your face. “Hey, did I ever tell you that I love the way you're screaming my name?” He chuckled softly as you felt your face burn under his intense gaze. He knew he needed to avert your attention, wanting to sooth your worries.
“What?” You asked, stunned.
“The last thing I remember is your loud cheer as you screamed my name,” he smirked proudly, enjoying as you played with his hand in your embarrassed state.
“I cheer for everyone,” you added in a silent tone, trying to avert his suspicions.
“I wish you would cheer only for me,” he sighed as he looked away from you, his gaze now fixed on the ceiling. A confused expression sat across your face as you lifted your gaze and looked at him.
“What do you mean?” You asked, completely baffled by his reply. For a single moment you believed he meant more than he let on, but a reasonable part of your brain quickly shooed those thoughts away.
“I meant what I said,” he replied nonchalantly.
“I can’t just cheer for you. I have to cheer for the whole team so we can all win,” you explained with a confused frown across your brows.
“I know. And I know it’s wrong of me, but it makes me jealous,” he spoke with a soft grimace, earning a surprised gasp from you. “I honestly don’t know what else to do to get your attention. At this point I just got no shame. I shamelessly try to catch your eyes, but every time I feel like you are looking at me, you go and distance yourself,” he scoffed. Heaving a heavy sigh, he turned back to you. “Do you think you could ever look at me like a man and not someone who is part of your father’s quidditch team or a simple friend? Do you think you would be able to like me at one point?” He asked, his eyes desperately searching for confirmation, starting your heart off in a quick pace.
A tiny smile started spreading across your face before it grew into a large grin and a loud laughter erupted from your lungs, throwing your head back in the process. Oliver sat beside you, having mixed feelings about your reaction. “You fool,” you chuckled as your laughter started dying down. “You dumb man” you continued shaking your head as you stood up from your stool and leaned above his bed, cupping his face. “How could I not look at you as a man when I already do?” You giggled happily as you closed the gap between the two of you, capturing his lips with yours. For a moment both of you forgot where you were, you just enjoyed being closer to each other, before a healer appeared and loudly scolded you for your behaviour, forcing you to part as though you were still children.
“Well, that’s certainly not what I expected,” he chuckled playfully. “A couple more of these and I will feel brand new,” he grinned.
“I guess you will have to wait for that otherwise the healers will kick me out,” you giggled in content.
“Not happening,” he shook his head as he grabbed your arm and pulled you back to him, attaching his lips to yours halfway, earning a shaky moan from you. Luckily this time the healers didn’t catch you and within a couple of hours you were helping Oliver getting back to his flat.

lip sync your way into my heart
( @thecomfortofoldstorries and I got into a fun head-cannon debate last night about Tik Tok POVs and this is what happened)
--- Jaskier has never really been in the loop when it comes to social media. He was behind the curve when he made his Tumblr and he was two years late to sign up for Twitter. It’s no surprise that he finally downloads Tik Tok and makes an account several months after it’s become a viral platform.
That also means all the good usernames are taken; Jaskier types in @buttercup-bard, sees that it’s available, and calls it a day. This isn’t an app he’s going to care about. It’s just to waste time during his forty minute commute to and from campus.
Alas, he has ADHD...and this shit is addictive.
Especially, he hates to admit, the thirst-trap hotties who do weird, obscure, edgy POV videos. Jaskier knows they’re aimed primarily towards teen and young adult women but he’s a red-blooded Redanian gay. He’s horny. He can watch a few POV Tik Toks on the bus and thirst after pretty boys with big muscles...as a treat.
By Jaskier’s second week of classes he’s found a definite favorite Tik-Tokker (is that what they’re called? Or is it influencer? Jaskier doesn’t care). The guy is gorgeous. He has beautiful honey-gold eyes and long, silvery-white hair; which is appropriate since his handle is @whitehairdontcare. He makes a wide range of content, too. Perfect for Jaskier’s Concerta-focused tastes. There are some dances here and there and some Q&A videos, but for the most part he does POVs.
Jask and his roommates, Essi and Priscilla, have spent many happy hours poring over Mr. White Hair’s account, watching and re-watching their favorites from his vast repertoire of content. Essi loves his weird, edgy-boi shit. Stuff with titles like “POV: I fight the bully who insulted your haircut” or “POV: you make a deal with the devil for true love”. Stuff that Jaskier would have been into when he still listened to My Chemical Romance on the regular (okay, he still does, but don’t tell Essie).
Priscilla is a huge fan of Tik Tok dances. She follows every challenge and ranks her favorites, compiling them into a YouTube series that’s more for her self-gratification than anything else. Mr. White Hair is generally towards the top of her list whenever he deigns to follow a trend that doesn’t involve badly applied makeup blood smears. The guy clearly works out and the definition of his body (and the movements of said really hot body) make the dances look so much more fluid and fun. Jaskier and Priscilla clearly share a brain-cell when it comes to appreciating Mr. White Hair’s hotness.
Jaskier’s favorites, of course, are the cute little POVs that lie scattered between all the edgy ones. Stuff made for the softies of Tik Tok. Stuff made for boys like Jaskier. “POV: I fix your car for you” is the one he’s probably re-watched the most. Mr. White Hair is lying on his back beneath a jacked-up blue car, oil smeared in a few strategic places on his face, chest, and arms. At the very end of the Tik Tok he moves the wrench out of the way of his face completely and winks directly into the camera.
Jaskier hates to admit it, even to himself, but no matter how many times he’s watched that stupid twenty-give second video, that wink drops his heart straight down into his shoes and fills his stomach with butterflies.
---
“Hey do you guys carry fake blood here?” an almost terrifyingly deep voice asks from behind him. Jaskier twirls around on his heel, Retail Smile firmly in place, and loses his shit the moment he sets eyes on his latest customer.
It’s Mr. White Hair.
Here. In the middle of the aisle of the Party City where Jaskier works every weekend. He’s either going to throw up or pass out or both.
He doesn’t though. Instead, the Demon Lord of Retail possesses his body momentarily and nods, “Right over this way!” He leads the insanely attractive influencer over to the year-round section of Halloween FX makeup and gestures towards the shelf filled with various fake blood capsules, bottles, and packets.
“Thanks,” Mr. White hair smiles. Jaskier nods again, silent, and drifts back towards the counter in a daze. He’s the only one on shift right now (it is not a very busy Party City) and he knows that he can’t pass out on the dirty tile floor or he’ll get fired (and perhaps tetanus). He just needs to power through the next few minutes and then he can crouch next to the helium tank and freak the fuck out.
But not until Mr. White Hair is gone.
Just as Jaskier is re-learning how to breathe normally, the sexy internet star makes his way towards the counter with an armful of products and the retail worker loses it again. Thank god for the ability to compartmentalize.
“So, just these for you?”
“Yeah, thanks.”
“No problem! I love your Tik Toks by the way,” Jaskier replies automatically. His eyes widen slightly. Why the fuck did I mention his Tik Toks!?
“Thanks,” the guy says and blushes. “I didn’t know they’d gotten so popular.”
“You have like two million followers?” Jaskier laughs. “I think that makes you pretty popular. Maybe even famous.”
“Oh yeah...right.”
“Anyway, your total is going to be twenty-one fifty.”
Mr. White Hair pays and Jaskier bags all his fake blood, wondering the whole time exactly what kind of content he can look forward to seeing. More of Essi’s edgy shit, apparently. As he’s handing the plastic bag over the counter, Jaskier smiles and works up the courage to ask, “Is your hair naturally white? I don’t mean to pry, it’s just really pretty.”
Geralt’s face goes slightly pinker than before and he nods. “Yeah. Weird genetic thing. Thanks.”
“No problem. Right on,” Jaskier beams. “Well, it was nice meeting a famous person. Thanks for stopping in.”
“Thanks for helping me out,” the Tik Tokker replies. Jaskier watches him exit the store before ripping his phone from his pocket and dialing Essi. He needs to talk to her before he spirals into a giddy panic attack.
---
“Hey Jask have you seen that hot guy’s latest Tik Tok?” Priscilla asks, lounging across her futon like a queen. Jaskier looks up from his copy of The Collective History of Aedirnian Funeral Dirges and wrinkles his eyebrows in confusion.
“No, why?”
“You should go check your phone. I think you’ll be happily surprised.”
“Oh-kay,” Jaskier says, drawing out the ‘kay’ for as long as it takes him to get up from his seat on the floor and exit the room. He retrieves his phone from the charger in the kitchen and returns to Priscilla’s bedside. He opens his new favorite app and pulls up @whitehairdontcare’s page. There’s a new POV from earlier this morning and Jaskier taps on it.
His eyes go round when he reads the caption: “POV: You’re the cute cashier at the Party City and I’m bad at flirting”.
Mr. White Hair is staring into the camera with those beautifully golden eyes, awkwardly rubbing at the back of his neck with his hand while he lip syncs to whatever song is playing. He’s wearing a tight, navy blue v-neck and Jaskier can see the movement of every one of his ridiculously defined muscles as they flex. The silver wolf’s-head necklace Mr. White Hair always wears around his neck is in its usual place, dangling down between those perfect collarbones…
Jaskier takes a shaky breath and glances up at his friends, who are staring back at him with wide eyes. “It could be about anyone.”
“How many Party Cities do you think he went to yesterday?”
“I’m not going to get my hopes up,” Jaskier snorts. “He’s a social media influencer and I am one semester away from finishing my degree and my thesis. Why would he ever want to be with someone like me?”
Essi rolls her eyes and Jaskier goes back to his homework.
---
Later that night, alone in his room, Jaskier plugs his earbuds into his phone and watches the Tik Tok over and over. He finds the song Geralt used and adds it to his Work Is Tough playlist, which he’s allowed to play over the loudspeakers at the store so long as he’s working a solo shift.
He watches Mr. White Hair’s plush pink lips move around the words and dreams of kissing them someday, as far-fetched as that scenario is (because this video is definitely not for him, that’s impossible):
“My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me.
So won't you kill me, so I die happy.
My heart is yours to fill or burst, to break or bury,
or wear as jewelry; whichever you prefer.”
Fucking Dashboard Confessional. Of course. One of Jaskier’s favorite bands from his emo days in middle school. If this really was for Jaskier, if this really was a legitimate attempt at online flirtation by Mr. White Hair himself, it was working.
Jaskier buries his head in his pillow and sighs.
#geraskier fic#geraskier tik tok au#there will be a part 2 i promise#geraskier fanfic#geraskier#geraskier au#all I do is make aus all day and work retail#geraskier fluff#flirty geralt#influencer geralt#party city employee jaskier#college student jaskier#geraskier college au#geraskier alternate universe#oops I keep making cute shit

I said there would be a part three on the WTHTD video and I decided to keep it quiet a couple days ago until my gut told me to post.
Please stick with this read as it will get deep into lore and connections
My conspiracy on the scorpion tattoo part two:
In the WDHTDANCE video
there’s two girls; one blonde and brunette.
At first, a regular person might pass it off as
“Oh, two girls in the background! MV standards.”
Sadly, no.
It’s Juliet and Angie before and after Andy found out about Scientology and their wickedness.
Let me explain and backtrack the beginning theory of the music video.
It starts with Andy walking into a hotel building with a monster holding the door for him. He walks into a dark movie theatre room that relives his past memories, AKA the AUDITING ROOM or what other people refer to as the *fake* Akashic records room. (A spiritual place that stores memories that many fake spiritual gurus love to talk about in *awakening*)
What’s with this room, you ask? Scientology is known to bring people into rooms to “clean their memories and get their stories straight.”
While Andy is watching on the screen, there’s two innocent girls, as previously mentioned before, living their best life and looking flirty at a party. Sources say Andy and Juliet met at parties/festivals back in the day with Juliets family near always, which includes her sister who was trying to become an influencer as well.
Throughout the video shot, Andy’s being watched by this monster man in the background, making sure Andy is watching attentively and he’s looking at the scenes worried in regret. Furthermore, these two girls turn into hideous morphed demonic beings at the foot of this monster.
Then shows the shot of an innocent woman drowning in water.
“Oh how don’t you drown in a rain storm”
He’s asking Juliet why she isn’t exposed from the spotlight from all the shit she’s put herself in. Hint, nobody knows who the fuck she is and Andy’s asking why karma doesn’t punish her yet. (It’s coming! It’s already been hitting her!) Why hasn’t she drowned in all the fucked up situations she’s created through the years.
During the auditing process, Andy is being purged of Juliet and the Simms family secret of darkness so he can view Juliet as an angel,
like how the women think they are the monster’s little wh*re princess (excuse my language) because they think THAT monster is in control of Andy’s wording and thoughts during the auditing process. Aka Scientology, and Juliet’s father.
I believe Andy is watching carefully around their father because they come from money as well as
Jeff is an A class narcissist himself and says “peace is everything when you can fuck everyone over!” and tries to make Andy something he’s not, which is an asshole.
We don’t have to dance, is a song toward Juliet saying I’m not going to make this relationship something it’s not up to be. I know who you truly are and it’s not something that I’m going to keep loving you toward, so we can still be in a relationship because I’m stuck with you but I’m not ever going to love you (.) like I did when I was young and naive ever again.
Record scratch (auditing) ; Steve Miller Band (the joker is one of their classics)
Tattooed necks and tattooed hands
(Facade to hide in and be the person that they want him to be, so he tries to be comfortable as much as he can. ALSO, the song THE JOKER BY STEVE MILLER BAND GOES INTO DETAIL ABOUT ALWAYS BEING IN MASKED PERSONALITIES and being seen differently by everyone, which Andy feels like)
Oh, how don't you drown in a rain storm?
(Previous statement above ⬆️)
Fresh regrets, vodka sweats
(He regrets meeting her and getting married so soon and he drowns her out with vodka getting too drunk and having night terrors)
The sun is down and we're bound to get
Exhausted and so far from the shore
(I think that line perfectly states how far they’ve tried to drive him out of his “let’s create a better world” mentality & bright eyed personality into feeling exhausted and enslaved, overall not like the inner child he once had. Fucking Juliet being an older cougar and taking advantage of Andy’s youth while his parents sold him out and Ashley was a weirdo who gained half the rights to the band, not only that but his record label’s pressure, band mates, crew, friends (which are mostly Scientologists) to always go along the dotted lines like a script, literally.) He was only 18-20! A baby! who was groomed up by old Hollywood cults for selling him a dream that left him almost dead.)
You're never gonna get it
I'm a hazard to myself
I'll break it to you easy
This is hell, this is hell
You're looking and whispering
You think I'm someone else
This is hell, yes.
Literal hell.
(The fan base used to think Andy was this confident almighty saviour because he cared about us, his young sweet heart cared about helping people and he was drowning in regret and shame from the fake industry and kinfolk behind him making him feel left out, delusional, and not belonging. He was feeling a moment of weakness in these lyrics and had to put on a facade that he was some big seductive rocker dude for financial and status sake, which in multiple interviews he feels bad about because HE HAD TO DO THAT out of survival mode and not because he wanted to! Now, today he’s seasoned and getting in control)
We don't have to talk
We don't have to dance
We don't have to smile
We don't have to make friends
It's so nice to meet you,
Let's never meet again
We don't have to talk
We don't have to dance
We don't have to dance
(This is basically an ode to meeting Juliet for the first time. Or getting into a relationship with her in the beginning. He’s writing what he now would have done instead of marrying her in 2012. Didn’t they say they both hated each other when they first met? He wanted to listen to his gut instincts and he felt deep regret in those lyrics)
Bottles smash, I raise my hand
How can you all even stand it
Why is there joy in this poison, oh
Faking smiles and confidence
Driving miles to capture this excitement
I can't take anymore, oh
(He’s asking why isn’t anyone caring about fake people including literally everyone he’s surrounded by, including us.
Why we used to not care about diving into the abuse and delusional shows everyone put out there, fake smiles and fake personas to keep fans alive and happy, which is coincidentally the most popular BVB was.
I wish Andy knew that for us, it wasn’t fake and that even though he was depressed and angry inside and still showed up for BVB army is a very selfless act, because he wasn’t forced to be nice to anyone but only put on a stage act by management.
Now he’s really shining and we get to see the person he has always been for us, a neighborly seasoned person who sings his truth and we, as BVB army fans, relate to the sad darkness and happiness overcoming it too.
He’s real and always has been, even if he’s had to hide and mask for his protection.
He gained popularity and support because he was authentically himself and showing up for him when he felt the shittiest (even when he thinks he didn’t handle it correctly with fighting and alcoholism,) still he showed up and gave everything in authenticity and pure emotion, Andy style. I think he’s come to conclusion that his stage presence is something special outside of his personality and that it’s okay to express your soul on stage even if it’s changing, he’s coming back to who he’s always been inside. I think he’s channeling it in such a badass empowered way on the IN BETWEEN tour.
Congrats Andy! That man IS a true soul warrior.
Dude was fighting predators, groomers, and multiple cults by himself and still showed up (AND bettered, healed, unlearned things about his surroundings and himself) even when he felt isolated and alone! Props to Andy!
I personally interpret the scorpion tattoo as death and not forgetting to go back to the place that he was left FOR DEAD even if he feels scared or lonely.
You’re not alone, Andy! We are here and we see you!
I’m so proud of him. He’s such a diamond in the rough. I’m proud to be a supporter and recognize what he’s done for himself and how it translates into his art.

have you seen CHOI HYEJIN ? i heard SHE is a FLORIST at THE GREEN MEADOW. they’re 21 years old and they’ve been living in san verto for one year. they tend to be BENEVOLENT & MAGNANIMOUS, but rumor has it they can also be CAPRICIOUS & FINICKY.
。* ❪ 📂 𝐂://STATISTICS.
name: choi hyejin
age: twenty - one
sign: pisces sun / libra moon ( click )
sexuality: bisexual
gender: cis woman ( she/her/hers )
occupation: florist , pianist, & composer
alignment: chaotic neutral
。* ❪ 📂 𝐂://BIOGRAPHY
* note: minho’s little sister !! <33
📍 𝙿𝙰𝚁𝚃 𝙾𝙽𝙴 - 𝚜𝚎𝚘𝚞𝚕, 𝚜𝚘𝚞𝚝𝚑 𝚔𝚘𝚛𝚎𝚊.
born as the youngest child of a nurse & a teacher, hyejin’s childhood was nothing out of the ordinary. her love for music had always been apparent — her mother noticing early on that, whenever her daughter was throwing a hissy fit, all she had to do was play some classical music in order to get her to calm down
hence, it shouldn’t have been a surprise that her father decided to teach her how to play the piano at the age of 6. & by the age of 9 she was labeled a child prodigy. hyejin would often participate in competitions, attend music camps, & play in front of anyone who was willing to listen. her talent was undeniable, truly
in the years to follow she would pick up other instruments here & there ( violin, guitar, french horn ), but nothing seemed to stick as much as piano did. hyejin would also dabble in writing her own music, often with the help of her father
& if there’s one thing hyejin learned it’s that practice makes perfect. by the age of 11 she managed to become an extremely valuable asset for her school’s yearly musicals as she composed about 60% of the songs performed <33
she went viral on social media a few times as well, her youtube channel accumulating about 1.6M views by her 4th upload. she would frequently get interviewed around that time as well, with professionals often commenting on hyejin’s bright future
📍 𝙿𝙰𝚁𝚃 𝚃𝚆𝙾 - 𝚗𝚎𝚠 𝚢𝚘𝚛𝚔 𝚌𝚒𝚝𝚢, 𝚄𝚂𝙰.
her brother getting injured on tv was a catalyst of change. hyejin convinced her parents to let her move to new york in order to take care of him, being well aware her life had considerably dulled the moment he decided to leave a few years prior
the move went smoothly, & with opportunities lining up in front of her, she decided to get a bachelor’s degree in music composition, her accomplishments allowing her to attend one of the most prestige universities in the city
it’s there where she fell in love with a guy who she deemed to be a mentor of sorts ; always pushing her to do better & achieve unattainable perfection. it had been so easy for hyejin to trust him with her work, with him appearing to be the more experienced & wiser of the two. he was a child of a famous musician after all, mastering the arts of sweet talking unassuming girls with a whole lot of empty promises
so when their uni announced a proposal of a student being able to apply for an internship that would skyrocket their careers right into stardom, hyejin was well aware this was an opportunity that couldn’t be missed. her boyfriend mentioned how he wouldn’t apply, seeing his father could offer him a job easily, but mentioned how she should send her work to him so he could look it over & help her out
😬
“ hey babe, i’m sorry to tell you this but the piece you sent me just isn’t that good… i can’t quite put my finger on it, but the composition is just wrong. it’s okay, though, you’re only a freshman & still have a lot to learn, we’ll work on it together. but maybe forget about the internship for now ? i’m sure with some improvement my father will manage to get you an even better job… anyways, love you, talk to you soon ”
crestfallen & humiliated, hyejin accepted the fact that it would be simply too embarrassing to submit the sheets of music she’d written. it was two weeks later that her boyfriend abruptly ghosted her, only for her to find out he’d gotten the internship by applying with the composed music she sent him. he denied any claims of stealing, & when hyejin told her professor about the situation he basically wrote it off as well
📍 𝙿𝙰𝚁𝚃 𝚃𝙷𝚁𝙴𝙴: 𝚜𝚊𝚗 𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚝𝚘, 𝚄𝚂𝙰.
in the next few months it felt like her life had crumbled down around her, hyejin’s future career appearing grim. minho & her decided to move to san verto in order to find peace, a fresh start waiting for them there
she took up multiple side jobs to get her music out there again, while also trying to push past the writer’s block she experienced due to stress. on week days she would give rich kids piano lessons after uni & bloom under the praises their parents would give her skills. on the weekends she would play at a 5 star restaurant, hoping the right people would discover her there
having lost the comfort music once gave her, hyejin decided to take up a job as a florist & keeps herself busy tending to flowers. it isn’t her ideal career plan, but at least she’s moving forward with her life
throughout the years she kept uploading videos of her playing piano on youtube, each video getting about 900k views on average. it allows her to be fairly recognizable on her own accord, although most of her fame comes from being associated with her brother. she’s starting to climb in popularity, though, spending some of her time to focus on crafting a stronger social media presence
。* ❪ 📂 𝐂://PERSONALITY.
🦋 𝙰𝚂𝚃𝚁𝙾𝙻𝙾𝙶𝚈 - 𝚜𝚞𝚗 𝚒𝚗 𝚙𝚒𝚜𝚌𝚎𝚜, 𝚖𝚘𝚘𝚗 𝚒𝚗 𝚕𝚒𝚋𝚛𝚊
click me !
empathic, romantic, impressionable, & imaginative - hyejin tends to see the world through a rose colored glass ; the harsh realities of life often making her want to indulge in escapism. overall a generous and kind person
can’t handle pressure well, ultimately she’s a perfectionist. hyejin has a specific vision of how she wants her life to play out, & if anything interferes with that she might feel devastated & defeated. however, she’s quick to get back on her feet & continue pursuing what she was working on
obsessed with fairytale romances, used to read countless of young adult novels hoping she’d experience love like that. hyejin easily tends to romanticize & idealize the people she’s fond of, thinking they can do no wrong in her eyes & putting them on a pedestal *coughs* minho :(
despite all of that she has a great intuition, hypersensitive to her environment. she’s often aware of other people’s emotions, meaning when someone or something’s off she usually able to identify such things immediately
would prefer to avoid conflict at all cost as well, she doesn’t enjoy being faced with consequences of her own actions
at first glance she can appear rather stand-offish as well, not really the type to walk up to someone & handle small talk in an eloquent way. she’s shy & an introvert, the type to hide behind her mother whenever someone addressed her when she was younger. hyejin is only able to come out of her shell around people she knows she can trust
channels all of her feelings into her art !!

2. enchanted.
THEY MEET! THEY MEET! anyways...just a suggestion, but you should probably listen to taylor swift's "enchanted" because, well it's an amazing song, what more can i say?
read it on ao3.
~
“Look who’s here!” Thalia said, grinning. “My…” She drummed her fingers against the table, making up for an imaginary drum roll, as a figure walked towards Annabeth, Jason and Thalia.
“...girlfriend!” Thalia finished, a rare smile on her face that she always showed to her aforementioned girlfriend.
“Reyna!” Annabeth exclaimed, smiling as she stood up to hug her friend. “You’re back? I thought you said it’d take you a few more months!”
“As you know,” Reyna began in a horrible imitation of a British accent, struggling to hold back her grin. “I am very well versed in the art of lying.”
“One of the truest things you’ve said in, like, your entire life I think,” Thalia added, getting a playful punch from her girlfriend.
“Still know how to be a badass, Chase?” Reyna asked, raising an eyebrow.
Annabeth smirked. “You should have figured that being a badass has been in my blood since I was born,” She replied.
“Maybe I could race you,” pondered Reyna. “It’d be fun to see you lose.”
“Hey! That’s not fair,” Annabeth muttered, folding her arms. “You’ve literally got a sports scholarship based on your running, and I bet you’ve practiced a lot all the way back in Berkeley.”
Reyna shrugged. “Yeah, you'd lose either way. So, it’s been a few years since we’ve seen each other and things have certainly changed. Someone’s got a little famous.”
“All because of her wonderful manager,” Thalia said, proudly.
“Oh shush,” Annabeth said, folding her arms. “Also, Thalia, about the whole getting-away-from-the-world-for-a-few-hours thing, I’m planning on sneaking away to Coney Island.”
“Coney Island?”
“Hey, I’ve wanted to go see it for a long time now, and this might be the perfect opportunity,” Annabeth reasoned.
“But so many people there could see you!” Thalia argued. “Like, thousands! It isn’t exactly the most secluded place for someone who wants to be anonymous and all that shit.”
“Relax, you know how good I am at disguising myself. I promise not to let the paparazzi get a hold of me. Okay?” Annabeth asked.
Thalia hesitated, then sighed. “Well…” she began. “Okay, fine. But you better be careful, young lady.”
“Yes, mom,” Annabeth said, rolling her eyes in Classic Annabeth Style, her voice dry with irony.
Usually it was Annabeth who was called “The Mom Friend” of the group (though she preferred to be the one who always advises her friends to not do the dumb shit they eventually end up doing. It wasn’t her fault she was the only one who had common sense).
“So?” Annabeth asked. “What’s the schedule for today?”
“Well, I’ve managed to give you around roughly two to three hours of free time, but besides that we’ve got the usual shooting. Thankfully, I think you have only a few scenes today, and I’m guessing the other stars are shooting most of their scenes today,” Thalia said, whipping out her clipboard.
“Fun.”
—🎡—
“Late to work again, Perry Johansson?” Mr. D exclaimed, with a groan.
“Sorry, Mr. D!” Percy said, sheepishly. He’d thought it was a Sunday morning, pressed the snooze button on his alarm five times and was late to the cafe for work. “Won’t happen again!”
“That’s what you told a week back!”
“Rough morning, huh?” Percy’s best friend, Piper McLean, asked, her eyes surveying his more-dishevelled-than-usual hair.
“That would be an understatement,” Percy replied, groaning.
“Nightmares?” Piper asked.
He nodded, as she gave him a sympathetic look.
It was common knowledge to all of his friends that he had nightmares, caused by his abusive past. Sometimes he woke up, sweating, his throat sore after yelling in his sleep. When he stayed with his mom, and his stepdad, she would usually rush into the room as soon as the screaming began. But once he moved out, he learnt to calm himself down. It didn’t help though, he found himself having panic attacks while thrashing around in his bed.
“And, hm, let me guess,” Piper began, feigning to be in deep thought. “You stayed up all night painting?”
He rolled his eyes, confirming that she was correct. “The nightmares were getting too much for me,” he mumbled.
Piper nodded, staying silent. She, and all of his friends, knew about his past. It wasn’t exactly easy to hide the long scar that ran down your back, when you were the captain of your swim team back at school.
“Well,” he said, drawing out the l. “How are things with Jason? Didn’t you tell me that you started dating?”
“Yeah…” Piper smiled. “He’s amazing, Percy. He cares a lot about me. I think he’s...perfect.”
He grinned. “Well, years of screaming at both of you to date each other finally paid off,” he said.
“Yes, Jackson, I truly appreciate it,” Piper said sarcastically. She turned around to greet the customer who had just come in, with a perfect smile on her face. “Hello and welcome to Olympus!”
Percy pulled out his phone, scrolling through his nearly non-existent proof of his social life, not really paying attention. He eyed a few messages from his cousin, Thalia Grace, planning to reply to it later, when a single word caught his eyes:
Annabeth.
Wait, what about Annabeth? he typed back hurriedly, fixing the typos that came along the way.
She replied almost immediately.
Knew that would catch your eyes, Kelp Head. - Pinecone Face
He let out a soft huff, but grinning affectionately nevertheless. He could literally hear the smirk in her message.
We’ve talked about this, Thalia. But what did she say?
Don’t worry, she didn’t say anything. I just mentioned her while reminding you about how dad wants you to come to dinner. And I know you well enough to figure out that you’d never check a message the first time you see it, unless it mentioned someone like, you know, Annabeth. - Pinecone Face.
You’re an asshole, Thals.
I know right! It’s one of the many things I’m good at, thinking of adding it to my resume~ - Pinecone Face.
He resisted the urge to roll his eyes. His eyes were trained on his phone as Thalia continued to be typing something more.
Don’t forget about the dinner! Dad specifically requested that you and Nico must be there, or something. - Pinecone Face.
He was going to type back a quick yeah, okay and head back to the front, where Piper was greeting customers, when another message from Thalia popped up.
Hey, if you’re lucky, we might even run into Annabeth ;) - Pinecone Face
Not the winky face, he replied, unable to stop the grin from coming on his face.
—🎡—
There I was again tonight forcing laughter, faking smiles Same old tired, lonely place Walls of insincerity Shifting eyes and vacancy vanished when I saw your face All I can say is it was enchanting to meet you. —🎡—
Percy yelled, “I’m leaving as soon as I finish three more orders, you hear me?”
“I hear you, alright!” Piper yelled back, as she picked up her phone and walked towards him.
“I honestly wonder why I’m such a good friend,” Percy said, leaning against the counter. “Why am I always the one who covers the last 15 minutes of his friend’s shift?”
“Because you love me, and think I’m the most amazing person to ever walk on earth,” Piper replied, grinning proudly, as she flicked her dark brown hair over her shoulder.
“Of course I do,” Percy said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Now, go meet Mr. Loverboy.”
“And you?” Piper asked. “What are you gonna be doing this evening?”
“Visiting the Ferris wheel in Coney Island,” Percy replied.
“Again?” Piper asked. “You were there, like, three weeks back. You need to get a social life, Perce.”
“Mm, I was just planning on spending my life with blue cookies,” he said. “And, it isn’t a waste of time. I learn more about landscapes and silhouettes, you know.”
“Ah yes, painting stuff,” Piper summed up. “Honestly, I don’t understand you at times, and we’ve been friends for so long.”
“I’m an artiste, Pipes,” Percy replied, grinning, with a terrible French accent on the artiste.
“Mhm, sure,” Piper mumbled. “Okay, don’t mess up the rest of the orders. I’ll see you soon.”
As Piper made her way out of the shop, Percy sighed. While he lazily waited for someone new to come in, he found himself bored, again.
He could blame his restlessness on his ADHD but in reality he never wanted to work here, he just needed some money while he struggled with becoming a popular artist, and he had to work here until the aquarium nearby finally accepted his resume. Then he’d be out of here.
He was tired. Tired of faking smiles, tired of seeing people bustling around in here, tired of vacant spaces. He couldn’t wait to leave this place behind him.
While he ruminated about this, another customer walked in, wearing a dark blue hoodie, with the hood pulled all the way down to their nose.
Percy stifled a groan and took his place at the counter. “Hey, welcome to Olympus Cafe. What would you like today?”
“One Chocolate Creme Frappuccino, please,” came the woman’s voice. He nodded, slightly pleased that he wasn’t the only one in the world who liked that drink off their menu.
He went inside to prepare her drink. When he came back, she was resting her head on her palm. “Name?” he asked.
“Oh? Uh, Annabe-Annabel,” she replied, stuttering a little bit.
He raised an eyebrow, but didn’t question her. Writing Annabel on the cup, he pushed a straw in her drink. “That’ll be $4.95,” he said.
She nodded, reaching to her pocket. Percy always hated this part of delivering an order: that awkward silence while the customer got out their money.
He looked at the woman before him, as she fumbled around while bringing out her wallet. He could barely see her, but she had tan skin and maybe he caught a few wisps of golden hair. A five dollar bill fell out of her wallet, floating towards the ground.
“Shit,” she muttered.
Percy tried to hide a smile at that. He didn’t know why a random woman before him mumbling profanities was amusing to him. She bent down to pick up the dollar, and when she stood up her hood had fallen. Percy looked at her, then suddenly stopped fidgeting around.
Was it…? It was.
He knew how she looked from their time in high school. Stormy grey eyes. Honey blonde hair. He definitely knew her, knew her all too well.
She quickly pushed the bill towards him, and pulled her hood back up. A faint flicker of recognition passed through those intimidating eyes, as he took the dollar.
He picked up the cup, and handed it to her. She reached out for the cup, her fingers slightly brushing against his. A little spark seemed to drive up his arm, and despite himself, he grinned goofily.
“It was enchanting to meet you,” He said, then winked at her.
She rolled her eyes in annoyance, a faint blush of red coating her cheeks nevertheless. “That’s the cheesiest thing I’ve ever heard,” she said, her voice low.
He continued to grin as she looked up, sea green eyes meeting grey, then turned around to leave the shop. There was no mistake about it. It was her. Annabeth.
Annabeth Chase.

The risk it took to blossom (+1 - Final part)
Pairing : Sarawat / Tine (2gether the series)
Summary : Five times someone talked Tine through his self-doubt and helped him see his worth, and the one time he didn’t need them to. Chapter : 6/6
Previous chapters : 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
Notes : Well, here we are ! I promised I would post the last part before the episode today so... HAPPY FRIDAY GUYS ! I hope you enjoyed this story, and it will have helped the wait for this week’s episode even a tiny bit. Enjoy this last part and most of all... Enjoy the episode in a couple hours =)
--------
“So, are you nervous ?” Sarawat asks Tine when he turns towards him,, eyes travelling on his face to try and evaluate his emotions.
CTRL S’s concert is in a few hours, and Sarawat and Tine had decided to meet beforehand so they could relax and maybe calm their nerves… Well. Tine’s nerves, mainly. They are sitting next to each other on the stairs in front of their university, shoulders brushing against one another every time one of them moves.
“A little,” he answers with a nervous smile, in turn turning towards Sarawat. “But I think it’s good nerves ? At least, that’s what many musicians say, from what I’ve seen in interviews and so on. That a little nerves before a concert is good. Not that I am a musician, but you know what I…”
Sarawat cuts Tine’s rambling off by pressing forward and pecking him on the lips once.
“Tine, you’re about to go on stage for a concert. You’re a musician,” he says with a proud smile.
“Oh, right… I guess you do have a point. I’m a musician ! That’s cool,” Tine answers back with a grin, causing Sarawat to smile back at him.
“That’s hot,” he says with his cheeky smirk. “I’ve always wondered what it would be like to date a musician, and now I know,” he leers towards Tine, one of his hands making its way to his chest to touch his favorite part of Tine’s body.
Before he can do anything though, Tine catches his wrist and stops the movement. He’s already nervous about the concert, he really doesn’t need to add another layer of… that particular emotion to the whole night.
“Ok, you perv. Enough. Save some of that for after the concert,” he laughs at Sarawat, and the other boy just grins in answer.
“Oh, trust me, I will.”
They stay seated in silence for a couple minutes, and Tine feels the nerves get a little more intense as the clock ticks closer to the concert hour. He’s wringing his hands together when one of Sarawat’s comes to stop the movement, taking one of them in his and lifting it up to press a kiss to his palm.
“I think you’re going to be amazing,” he says simply.
“Actually, I think we’re all going to be amazing,” responds Tine.
Because they are, okay ? They’ve been practicing so much, and they have a great set list, and all of them know the songs on the tip of their fingers, even Tine. So… Yeah. They’re going to be amazing, he’s decided.
Sarawat pulls his phone out of his pocket, plugging his earphones into it and Tine smiles when he sees him pull up a playlist called “Tine and Sarawat’s perfect soundtrack”, before he puts one of the earphones in Tine’s ear and the other one in his, and presses play.
Muey’s voice instantly fills his ear, and Tine finds his nerves quieting already. The power Scrubb will always have over him truly is amazing, and he loves that Sarawat realizes that.
Sarawat draws himself closer to Tine and he drops his head on Tine’s shoulder, nuzzling his neck lightly, before sighing happily when Tine picks up one of his hands to play with his fingers while they listen quietly to the songs.
“God, have you even seen him ? How is he deserving of such a perfect man ?” they hear a vicious voice say behind them, and Tine feels Sarawat immediately grow tense at the words.
“Seriously though, look at him, he’s so weird looking ! Sarawat is an 11 who settled for a 2 and the world is so unfair,” whines another voice.
“I heard that he was going to play with Sarawat’s band too. Riding your boyfriend’s coattail, much ?” someone else asks sarcastically, and Tine can feel Sarawat grow tenser in his arm with every word, while he feels annoyance grow within him.
God, what was wrong with people. Seriously ?
“I also hear he’s a cheerleader. A fucking cheerleader ! I bet he’s dumb as hell,” Tine recognizes the first voice that spoke, venim still present in the tone.
“He’s just so… plain, too. Like he’s so flawed and imperfect, how does he deserve to be with someone as perfect as Sarawat is ?”
“Honestly, I give them one month before Sarawat snaps out of it and finally comes to his senses, dumping this boy’s ass and finding someone who is better suited for him,” says someone in the group, prompting the other two people to laugh.
At those words, Sarawat, who looks ready to wring some necks and looks angrier than Tine has seen him in a long time, pushes on Tine’s knee to use it as leverage to get up from where he is seated on the stairs neck to Tine. Knowing the other boy is probably going to confront the group, Tine catches his arm before he can get up fully and pulls him back down next to him.
“It’s okay Wat, forget it,” he says when Sarawat turns towards him, fury evident in his eyes.
“It’s not okay Tine,” he answers angrily. “Do you not hear the filth that is coming out of their mouths ?”
“I hear them, I just don’t really care,” Tine reassures him with a shrug of his shoulders, and Sarawat stares at him, probably trying to assess the truth in his words.
“You don’t ?” His eyes still roaming over his face to gauge his reaction, as if he can’t quite believe what his boyfriend is telling him.
“I really don’t,” Tine says with a smile, before he pulls Sarawat forward to kiss him, feeling Sarawat’s lips turn to a smile against his.
And the thing is, Tine isn’t even lying. He’s annoyed that this group of people made Sarawat go all tense that way and ruined the soft moment they were sharing, but he really doesn’t care one bit about what they think about his relationship, or of him, as a matter of fact.
It’s taken him a while and been quite the journey, but the only opinions he cares about in this situation are Sarawat’s and his. And as much as it surprises even himself… He has all the confidence in the world right now. Confidence in their relationship, as well as confidence in himself.
Because surely, if he is surrounded by people as amazing as his friends, and his boyfriend… Then he figures he has to be pretty amazing himself.
Sarawat pulls away from the kiss and smiles happily towards him. And faced with a smile like this one, Tine thinks that maybe he can take the high road on this one and just ignore the rest of the world.
“Do you think he’s just using Sarawat for his fame ? Like he’s with him because he wants to become popular, and as soon as that happens he’ll leave him ?” they hear one of the voices behind them say, and Sarawat’s smile immediately dims at the words.
But then again, maybe taking the high road is overrated.
He takes Sarawat’s hands in his and squeezes them once, before he lets them go and gets up himself, taking the steps two at a time until he arrives in front of the trio of people that have been talking about him and Sarawat behind their backs for more than 10 minutes now.
“Hello, ladies and gentlemen,” he says with a fake smile, and he has to admit, the pleasure he gets from seeing their faces drop and morph into shock is pretty intense.
“I couldn’t help but overhear you have quite a lot to say about me and my boyfriend. But then again, it’s not like you were really trying to hide it, were you ?” he asks saccharine, and he sees one of the girls start to pale, while the boy sitting in the middle looks everywhere but at Tine.
“So let me make a couple things clear, yeah ?” he asks, smile still in place. “First, I find it pretty sad that all three of you apparently have nothing better to do than spend your time talking behind our backs, as if you actually knew anything about either of us. Just so we’re clear, I don’t really give a crap what you might think of me, Sarawat, or our relationship. But maybe this would be a good moment to take a good look at your life and reevaluate, don’t you think ?”
He waits a couple seconds to see if either of them will dare say anything, and when the silence persists and he sees one of the girls swallowing nervously, he smiles mockingly towards them.
“The second thing I wanted to say was, you can pine and trash talk all you want. Clearly, it helps make you feel better about your lives and I wouldn’t want to deprive you of that,” he continues, and he sees one of the girls open her mouth to answer back, before she seems to think better of it and closes her mouth again. “You should just be aware that Sarawat will never give you the time of the day. You know why ? Because he loves me. He loves me.”
By now, there is total silence and Tine knows that a few students other than the ones he is talking to can probably hear everything he is saying, but he really doesn’t care what any of them might think right now.
“You are right about one thing though, Sarawat is pretty phenomenal, and I’m far from being perfect. Then again, neither is Sarawat, as you would know if you had ever talked to him in your life. The mouth he can have on him sometimes.... Let’s just say, you’re lucky I’m the one doing the talking right now. So yeah, neither of us are perfect. But Sarawat and I though, we are perfect together. And really, there is nothing you can say or do that will change that fact.” he finishes, and he sees them fidgeting in front of him.
“Now if you don’t mind, I’ll let you go back to your gossiping and I’ll go join my amazing boyfriend. We have a concert to go to, and I know you being the kind hearted people you seem to be, you will understand that I can’t stay for more pleasant chatting. Have a good day !” he says with a wave and one last parting smile, before he turns around, only to find Sarawat looking at him in shock not even a few steps behind him, surely having heard his entire speech.
“Look Sarawat, I didn’t want to make a scene and state things for the both of us, but they were…” he starts to explain as he can hear the three people behind him get up to leave.
Before he has the time to finish his sentence though, Sarawat has made his way up the few steps that were still separating them and he cradles his face to pull him in a deep kiss.
Tine pulls back a minute later, realizing that this isn’t really something they should be doing here, and thinking he should give his heart some time to recover and stop beating so fast before their concert starts.
He looks into Sarawat’s eyes, and he finds the other man looking at him with a huge smile, eyes shining with love and pride radiating from his entire being.
“So you get it now ?” he asks softly, still cradling Tine’s face in both of his hands. “You get that you’re perfect for me just the way you are ?”
Tine’s breath gets taken away by the words, and he doesn’t try to stop his urge to pull his boyfriend closer to himself and hug him tight, his face falling perfectly in his neck while one of Sarawat’s hands finds its way to his hair and starts to caress there.
“Yeah, I think I’m starting to get that,” he ends up saying softly in Sarawat’s neck, and he feels the other boy hug him even closer to his body.
He’s not naïve enough to think that this is the end of his insecurities and that he won’t have moments where he ends up feeling awful again. Right now though, in Sarawat’s arms ?
Right now, all he can think about is that he’s pretty damn lucky to be Tine Teepakorn, and he wouldn’t change anything even if he could.

Danny Phantom Sentence Starters - S01E01-S01E11
I know I missed the Dannyversary by that much, but this show’s dialogue was gold and deserves to be acknowledged. I only did up to E11 because I ran out of transcripts, but I might do more some other time.
Feel free to change pronouns/wording/etc. as needed.
Episode 1 - Mystery Meat
Look at you! You're too excited to speak! So I'll just go on speaking.
Parents don't listen. Even worse, they don't understand! WHY CAN'T THEY ACCEPT ME FOR WHO I AM?!
No, no. The rumors about the new all-steak buffet in the teacher's lounge are completely untrue.
I ordered three mud pies. Do you know what they gave me? Three mud pies. With mud! From! The! Ground!
These are the best years of my life! After high school, it's all downhill for me!
I...command you to...go away!
Well, if this superhero thing doesn't work out, I can have an exciting career as a busboy.
I control lunch! Lunch is sacred! Lunch has rules!
Then perish!
How is it that I have the ghost powers and you're the weird kid?
This is all going in the memoir.
Episode 2 - Parental Bonding
Please! Don't say you've suddenly fallen for me. That line is so last semester.
You just set an all-time speed record for drowning in the shallow end of the gene pool.
Well, you are kind of cute. And you have great taste in underwear.
It's a lie, I'm not a ghost! I-I mean...she's not my girlfriend.
You better let her know your family's insane now. If you marry her and she finds out later, that's entrapment.
If you upset her, we're going to have a violent talk.
Excuse me! Excuse me! Adult coming through. I shave every day.
This dance gets better and better with every passing minute.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to dance with my wife. That's what we adults do, dance with our wives.
If by memories you mean things you remember that I don't, then yes! Go ahead and remind me of stuff I'll totally agree to remembering.
The DJ's still playing. And I think there's time for one last dance?
Episode 3 - One Of A Kind
Touch the box and your pelt will adorn my fireplace.
Who said yes? The person you asked if you were a conceited snob?
I don't have time for extra credit...or your agendas.
I can always stop and appreciate high-quality bullying.
Time flies when you're majestically scratching your butt.
[Name], come on. We're just a bunch of kids. In the zoo. At night. Alone.
Home in time for some well-deserved rest. But keep it quick, because you've got thirteen minutes.
Hmm, my sensors indicate you're an average human, destined for an average life after high school.
Hello, misplaced aggression.
Episode 4 - Attack Of The Killer Garage Sale
I'm doing a thesis on tutoring the un-tutorable, and you're disproving my thesis that nobody's un-tutorable!
Now that that twinkie's out of the way, you're coming to my party Saturday, right?
I say we hit the amusement park. I hear the new roller coaster has a free fall that'll take three years off your life expectancy.
Why don't we get invited to the really cool parties? We've got style, charm, good looks. At least I do, anyway.
This is not junk! Every single item in this box is of vital importance to me.
See you tonight. And just because I can't believe I'm saying it, I will say it again. See you tonight.
My great-granddad Izzy was an inventor. He invented that machine that twirls cellophane around deli toothpicks.
Well, is it the bomb? Is it fresh? Is it stoopid? With an o-o?
Oh, it's stupid. I'll give you that.
Who's your daddy?
Episode 5 - Splitting Images
Whoo! Take it off! No, seriously. He should take it off. That's weird.
You look like you've seen a ghost. Or something really scary that we don't see every single day.
Don't worry. Maybe girls will talk to you in college.
These gloves are made for grabbing!
Spiff diddly dee, man. So this is what it's like to have friends.
You may have my powers, but you sure don't know how to use them. 'Course, I don't know how to use them, but at least I know how not to use them better than you do.
You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses. You couldn't hit a guy with glasses. In fact, you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn!
My fifteen minutes of popularity is up, and I wasn't even here for it.
Episode 6 - What You Want
Some people have a lot, and some people don’t. But everybody's got something. Me, I've got charm, good looks, and modesty.
Wh-where am I? And why do I feel that I'm special and adorable?
A car smashing into the twenty-eighth floor of anything is bad!
If I weren't a C student, I would've thought of that five days ago.
They say, "Be careful what you wish for." To that, I'd like to add a big, fat "Duh!"
Episode 7 - Bitter Reunions
Hey, we've been circling this town for hours. We could have been halfway to Florida by now. Ask for directions.
You have a battle cry, hilarious.
Dude, you are one seriously crazed-up fruit loop.
So, [Name], when did you first realize your husband was a monster bent on destroying his smarter, more successful, and better-dressed peers?
[Name], for all the years I thought you were a crackpot, I sort of apologize.
Episode 8 - Prisoners Of Love
There's a casserole in the freezer right next to the ectoplasmic residue samples!
Wow, heh, pretty much everyone who hates me all at one table. Just like high school.
Can I get anything, dearie? Coffee? Pudding? An extra helping of DOOM?!
But the one thing you know more than anything — even more than that ghosts exist and that your sister is a bitter old bat — is that I love you, baby.
Episode 9 - My Brother’s Keeper
I could hardly watch. Though I did get some good digital pics.
Here, take my seat, you've already taken my friends.
Another ringing endorsement for the town screw-up.
Another day, another 24 hours closer to a career of pumping gas.
Apparently, I'm gonna end up a hobo. I didn't even know they had hobos anymore!
I'm usually the sour one around here. But compared to everyone else, I'm the goth bird of happiness.
There's only an i in misery if you spell it that way!
Episode 10 - Shades Of Gray
Hey, who let the dogs in! ...You see, the song is "Who let the dogs out,” but I said “Who let the dogs in.”
Nice pooch! Easy. That lady isn't edible. And neither is anything she cooks.
NO! It was a fake-out make-out.
That's life! Well, your life, anyway.
379 girls at our school, and you've got to have a crush on the one with the weapons and the grudge.
Episode 11 - Fanning The Flames
Oh yeah, you’re one of a kind! Every single one of you.
Attention, freakishly dressed teen idol! I order you to cease and desist!
Wow. I just never realized...you’re really pretty when you’re about to fall off a building.
But you’re over there and I’m over here. I wanna be over there!
[Name], we can’t lock the kids in some medieval containment device.
You snuck out to see me! Oh, this is just like Romeo and Juliet, except I’m the one on the balcony, and I can understand everything we’re saying.
You want me to open up? Okay. Um, one time, when I was five, I really wanted a puppy, but my parents—
You’re beautiful when you’re wracked with guilt.
Mindless teenage rebellion and a killer light show? Is this an awesome concert or what!
This would an example of irony: a literary device employing the incongruity between what might be expected, and what actually occurs.

Hey I just recently got into the fandom and want to start reading some gelfie fics but I don’t know any! Could you recommend some? What are the most popular ones?
Hell yeah you do! :D
Since I’ve already made a similar list before I want to start with some awesome current fics (because the fandom has never been more active on AO3! and I want to celebrate that). Since you specifically asked for the most popular ones I’ll also include those that are generally considered the must-read gelphie fics.
CURRENTLY UPDATING
Between The Lines - tiniestgay
You like fake dating AUs? You like the movie To All The Boys I Loved Before? Well, good news! Melissa (@gayforthropp) is doing a gelphie au about this movie and it’s fucking lit. The premise is that Elphaba has written three love letters whenever she really crushed on a girl. Only, these letters make their way out one day and Glinda is one of the recipients… Hmmm. 👀
A Face Like Starlight - TheSecondQueenOfSol
This fic is so good! It hasn’t updated in a few months, but it’s one of my absolute favorites of 2018 and I can’t wait till the next chapter. It’s a Hogwarts AU (a fluffy one!) and over the years Glinda and Elphaba slowly start an understanding and then some more. It also has enby-Elphie! Need I say more? @themistsoftime is awesome and I hope to see more of their work because it’s amazing.
Expectations - show_me_the_universe
The concept of this fic is so fascinating and creative! Rachel (@two-gay-witches) has decided to create a gelphie fanfic that follows the songs on Hayley Kiyoko’s album Expectations. So reading the chapters, and listening to the songs really makes this fic so original.
It hasn’t completed yet but it’s definitely worth the read! As are all the other AUs she started (rachel, ily, but one fic at a time ;)), but this one stands out to me the most.
Strange, Sweet - neednot
Nita (@need-not) is a master at poetic prose. Honestly, I don’t know how they do it. Strange, Sweet is a Phantom of the Opera-esque AU and it’s as thrilling as it is intriguing and I cannot wait to read more! If you can’t get enough of their work (like I do) you can also read the completed fic Far Safer that is a book-based AU and is really worth your time!
Wiretapped Life - tinyace
Oz is split in two. Glinda is in her 40s and concocts a plan to ‘disappear’ and tries to find Elphaba, who she hasn’t seen in over a decade. Through her memories, the reader learns about her history, the decisions she took and the relationship she had with Elphaba and how politics ripped it all apart.
So yeah, I’m writing this fic, but I’m hella proud of it so I’m going to promote it lmao. Note that I rated this fic 16+ mostly for its heavy topics. I can’t stop you as a minor, but please be careful. Because this fic goes deep into complicated politics, trauma and a whole lot more.
I haven’t read every fic out there, but I do know that @splish–splash–sploosh has read every fic on AO3 (and conveniently they also are an active writer with lots of one-shots, definitely worth checking out!) so they might have some more recs for you!
MUST READ (FANDOM FAVES)
Okay now for the ‘popular-who-are-popular-for-a-reason fics’ I’ve made a similar list before. Fics I don’t mention rn are still very much worth checking out. Under a cut bc it’s getting long and most people have seen these before.
Wagyubeefy
Do you like modern AU gelphie? Do you like trans characters? Do you like complex characters that sometimes make bad decisions and them fucking up and dealing with a fuckton of trauma? Boy howdy, you need to read the entire work of Emmanuel right the fuck now. Most work is 18+ so keep that in mind, though. But so fucking good, so incredibly interesting.
RidiculousMavis
The golden standard of gelphie fics and the only reason I’d go on ff.net tbh. It’s all very bookverse and it’s so fucking good. Read their entire oeuvre. They have 8 delicious gelphie stories. It’s so fucking good. All of it is so fucking good!!!!!
GretchenMaurice
An absolute legend amongst mere mortals. Has written about 750k words solely dedicated to gelphie. Gee (@lily-onher-grave) has taken a well-deserved break, but if you like your slowburn, you gotta go with her work. Loved by the entire fandom. The absolute slowburn queen. What a treasure to this fandom she is. We’re glad to have her.
Beta Nova
You’ll catch me dead before I stop hyping their work. Emerald City Lies is the most perfect fanfic I’ve ever read. It’s witty, the gelphie dynamic is so fucking spot on and it’s INCOMPLETE. AND IT’S WORTH EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF YOUR LIFE OKAY!! A gelphie 80s AU where they are both in tv journalism. Just read it and have an absolute blast!!
tinyace
I asked Melissa if I could put my fics on the ‘fan favorite’ list and she said yes. Closing off, I just wanted to mention my two other completed multi-chapter fics, because I’d love for people to read them!
Walls of Sanctuary can only be described as a fucking rollercoaster. It’s the Wicked characters in a loosely based Hunchback of Notre Dame narrative. There’s romance, death, political resistance, and a ton of gelphie.
My Bike’s Gone is a fluffy high school AU with a twist: it’s based on the dutch school system! It’s short and sweet (~20k) and people tend to read this after I’ve broken their hearts in Walls of Sanctuary or Wiretapped Life :). I guess I’m titled ‘angst god’ in the discord for a reason. whoops!
Well, that’s my long list for now! There are still some incredible fics that aren’t on this list bc it got so long. So definitely check out some more writers (though I think you’ll be contend with this for a while) because we’ve got some talented fuckers in this fandom! ^^

Thank U, Next: Album Review
Disclaimer: These opinions below are my own and only opinions. It’s okay not to agree with anything I will say here, this is my personal experience of the album. Also the album hasn’t been out long yet so it hasn’t had the chance to marinate yet and opinions might change in time. Y’all asked for it.
Imagine: 4/10
This is not the most interesting song on the album, but it’s chill and nice to have on. The whistles are everything and really, for me, pull the song from boring into being an interesting experimentation piece. I don’t have a lot of reasons why this would be the first song but it’s not a bad opener. I guess this song is an alright song, a little underrated and a weird choice for a single given the other singles and how much Ariana doesn’t appear to care about it. The lyrics are similarly okay, not groundbreaking but not a fuckup (except the use of ‘sleep’ instead of ‘asleep’?) and the concept is sweetly sad.
Needy: 8/10
Bop bop bop. It’s not a strong song like a big ballad or brave r&b statement but for what she is, she’s still important. The concept is everything, and it didn’t let me down which is important to me. It was the snippet that I was looking forward to and it did deliver the slow jam with a unique depreciating but honest message. The vocals aren’t stunning but she does sing and it feels really personal and heartfelt. And the babyloves instrumental at the end cinches this as a favourite of mine, it just sounds so pure and it’s a real relatable song.
NASA: 5/10
Apparently quite a controversial one, either people are loving it or ignoring it. It does have a ‘kiss me thru the phone’ vibe, but I think she’s cute. Again, not a big statement but satisfying as a basic r&b moment. The lyrics are great in this song, despite the repetitive ‘imma need spice’ chorus, the verses have some original concepts and storyline. It has a really cool alternative, almost spin-off vibe to God Is A Woman with the space parallels and some linking lyrics about ‘your orbit’. And whenever Ariana manages to have a concept that doesn’t just revolve around penis in the vag I always nut, and this song is actually about the opposite and pushing someone away which is refreshing. The song is ultimately a bit forgettable but has some redeeming qualities that make me glad it made it to the album.
Bloodline: 2/10
Nonna is a nice touch but I don’t really care about it? I don’t think about it unless it’s on. It’s good to come to a more upbeat song after the first three, and it’s catchy- with a kinda havana spanish vibe? It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if this was a single instead of Imagine, but as a 2019 song it’s almost a little outdated as music has evolved from despacito’s popularity. The lyrics are basic and something more familiar to Ariana’s usual style of vocals with some signature ‘yuh’s. I can see why people would enjoy it, and I think if it played in a club, no-one would object but for me idc.
Fake Smile: 4/10
Starting to get tired of these alternative ‘sample’ beginnings to her songs on this album. But I like the sound of the song a lot. It reminds me heavily of Lily Allen? And y’all know I don’t like unnecessary swearing which the chorus of this song has a lot of I think. It has some of greedy’s backing vocals but goes in a different direction with vibe, however the concept really puts me off. We have this ‘’my life is hard the media and rumours are hard’’ in SO MANY other Ariana songs and I am TIRED. Go talk to You Dont Know Me or IDC for those tired concepts. She really doesn’t seem to be focusing on the positivity when she’s always putting out songs like this which is a shame because I really like Lily Allen’s music.
Bad Idea: 7/10
We start out so strong with this song, and I really like it. The chorus really makes me wanna bop, it’s a good catchy song. Since someone pointed out the ‘ari-chan’ bit I’ve really not been able to unhear it which sucks. But in my opinions it’s like a better/alternative version of dw’s Bad Decisions. It’s not the most unique of concepts but I really like the climax vocal moment in it and it reminds me of breathin at that part. The orchestral part at the end confuses me a little? It doesn’t really go but doesn’t ruin it for me- I’ll always take some strings.
Make Up: 0/10
I’m not a fan. It’s another one of those trippy pharrell-esque beats with no real content and some more rap-singing. Not much to say about this one, I just don’t really like it, it’s a skip from me. Issa mood issa vibe isn’t good lyrics, it doesn’t have any good melodies or vocals that would endear it to me. The beat kinda sounds like it’s falling down the stairs slowly. I just don’t think it’s album material.
Ghostin: 10/10
Now she’s a CONCEPT. Her voice sounds heavenly and in my opinion this song has some of the best concepts and lyrics on the album. It’s a sad bop but so so needed after all Ariana has been through with her bereavement and loss. It’s so sad and sends my heart to her, she’s serenading her tears and fears to us on this song and really telling us what is going on with some of her sadder moments. It’s bittersweet and uses the concept of ‘ghosting’ as a double meaning for mac’s spirit and as the colloquial slang meaning to break up with or ignore [her current love]. It’s clever and meaningful and so good, we were blessed with the harmonies and strings on this one.
In My Head: 9/10
Doug PREACH, this is one of the only times I will praise speaking samples in music because his part of this song is so good and necessary. Doug telling Ariana ‘enough is enough’ is PEAK reliability and you get a good sense of their friendship and her life at that point in time. The song itself pops off, it takes some of the previous ‘pete’ concepts of ‘i thought you into my life’ and develops it into this idea that she actually created that version of that person and how detrimental that can be. I think we’ve all created a vision of a person in our heads before and can relate to the concept. The lyrics are good, and the melodies and vocals are good. Mostly on this one I like the concepts that arise in the lyrics. It also lyrically ties to why try with the demons and angels visuals which i cant get enough of even if ariana shits on why try. I even enjoy (and laugh at) the scoot scoot part. It’s just a good ass r&b song that I thoroughly enjoy.
7 Rings: 1/10
Listen, do I sing along to this song: Yes. Does that mean I think it’s good music? No. I dont like the concept nor the unoriginality of the verses just being a big sample from another song. I dont care about this flex, and I dont relate. Ariana is too rich and always has been so this song holds more jealousy and distaste for me. I don’t mind the ‘you like my hair?’ lyric but I do know about the controversy with that black woman who sang that lyric about weave and imo it’s a whole ass messssssss. The review of this song by itself could be a whole post but I’ll leave it with just saying I don’t like it.
Thank U, Next: 10/10
A sweetheart. Really the only pop song on the album, and just a good song. It’s a classic successful max martin song, and I like the self love addition to the lyrics. It’s finally a song that ISNT about penis in vag and I was very excited when it came out. This song is going to get overplayed soon but I’m very proud of it as her first #1, I feel like it’s real and she tried very hard with it. It’s a good concept and aside from not promoting it well, deserves more recognition for the good all-round song it is. Kinda wish the U was a You but this is Ariana so I’ll just live with it.
Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored: 1/10
This song starts hot and a bit like an attack, which is in contrast to the likes of Bad Idea which is a softer but still strong start. My opinions on the MV aside, it’s catchy but it’s basic. This is probably the least produced song on the album imo, and is what people would expect of her probably. It’s darker and I don’t go out of my way to play it. I do like the chorus and would sing along, but it doesn’t thrill me. I think it’s kinda funny? But unfortunately the song is not meant in satire. Also the title is just too damn long.
Overall:
The album is still new to me but it has a few really redeemable songs on it. I’ve said it before but my view on it is of this album being a kinda darker side B of sweetener. I think it’s sonically cohesive as an album, only thank u next the title track really sounds different from the themes of the rest of the album. I was pleasantly surprised by the lyrics on this album, and how several of the concepts were a step away from basic fucking tracks. I dont hate it or think it’s a bad album but coupled with sweetener you can definitely see a strong move away from pop or anything ballad-y which would make any sort of good use of her voice which is a shame because she has the talent for broadway, not rap. Ariana’s career mistakes aside, it’s as good an album as I would expect to see from her at this stage and she is definitely getting more confident in sharing real parts of her life in music which is positive.

And We All Float On, Alright.
The morning my brother died, we were all just so very tired. And we had been for quite a long time, but the direct moments afterwards, we were a special kind of exhausted. It’s the kind of fatigue that weighs down your feet at the ankles and piles on you like an albatross on your back. Your teeth ache from grinding them in your sleep, your neck hurts from sleeping on wooden armrests.
If you have ever watched someone die, over the course of months, and then get better, and then begin to die again, you know it’s a complicated kind of fatigue. Praying and sleeping on hospital floors and couches for extended periods of time, wrecking your back combined with the emotional fatigue that comes from the roller coaster of hope and fear is really something you can’t explain unless you experience it.
If you are reading this, and you have, my heart goes out to you. If you have not, be grateful. I know this is a really condescending thing to say but be thankful if you’ve lived this long without losing someone with which you used to share bathroom sink space.
You keen and you cry and you pray and you exhaust yourself trying to keep your mind off things for periods of time and then you feel guilt for those moments, too. Then you cry again. There’s something so very bitter about losing a family member to a disease that is taking them too soon. And is somehow taking so long to do it. It is heartbreaking to watch them suffer and even harder to watch them go. And then you are left with feelings of guilt when you get a sniff of relief that they are not suffering.
Because of all that heaviness, it’s also the kind of weariness that leads you to giggle, nervous titters when a doctor sounds like Marj Simpson or when a social worker suggests you get out and take in a street fest when your brother is on life support. The absurdity makes you erupt with laughter as you all stumble on a documentary, in a hospital waiting room, of the organist at White Sox games who also has a hobby farm on which she happens to unfortunately have a donkey by the name of one of your family members (Mandy).
You do things that an outsider might consider gauche but you don’t care because it’s relieving stress and just to make it clear, your brother is dying, so the world needs to cut you some slack. One of those special interests my family took on together during this very bleak time was playing Rock Band* in my sister’s basement. Almost all of us were there. The months leading up to the end, my siblings who live elsewhere came in and out from out of town. Those of us who were close slept a twilight sleep and awoke with gritty eyes waiting for an update, anxious on what it would be and which one we wanted.
I have absurd memories of crying and then turning back to see my young niece playing the drums to Battery by Metallica, adult brothers fighting over who got to play bass and whose turn it was to get a beer before Don’t Stop Believing.
My family had always been a musical family, having been raised by music lovers, musical theater supporters and surrounded by theatrical hams in ourselves. On our way to midnight mass one Christmas Eve, some of my siblings and I were late because we all drove together and were listening to Babylon by David Gray and wouldn’t get out of the car until we had the four-part harmony right on the chorus. My younger brother and I have a “thing” about the song Stomp by Kirk Frankland. If we are someplace and we hear it, we’ll record it and play it into our phones and send it to each other. Once we were carpooling to and from the hospital and he called me urgently to tell me to turn on a radio station because Stomp was on a religious music station. I dare you to not feel good after listening to that song and I am still mad the DJ at his wedding wouldn’t play it. Long story short, if you know me, you know, I love music. And if you don’t know me, I think you get the idea. I love music. I love its healing powers. It is therapy in whatever form it takes. And it can make a difference. My brother loved music, too. He played the guitar and had a great singing voice. He played in the marching band when he was younger and enjoyed listening to music and watching his daughters and other family perform in his adult years.
There’s so much I could tell you about my brother. That would be pages and pages of things. For now, I’ll tell you he was the responsible oldest child and took that role seriously and with great patience. He was the kind of guy who, when he came home from college for the summer, shared his bedroom with his toddler sister, twenty years his junior. I have actual memories of him picking me up out of my crib in the morning and bringing me down to breakfast without complaining about it, which I realize now is not the normal reaction of a twenty-one-year old (or an almost forty year old for that matter) being woken up at 6 am on a weekend.
On the morning right after Brad died, we all stood on a concrete slab outside the hospice center and tried to pretend like we knew what to do next. It was raining out and that made us feel better. “It should rain today,” my mom said with great dignity. We all agreed. One of my brothers counted heads to make sure if we had everyone, a logistical thing that we had been doing for decades before we departed someplace. He had tears in his eyes when he realized there was already one less of us. So we all stood and cried a little bit more, looked at the rain and smiled. My mom insisted on driving herself home, which is a very mom thing to do. She didn’t want anyone to go with her and she wanted to be alone until she met up with us later. Sometimes I think about my mom driving herself home from saying goodbye to her son and it takes me a long time to get out of that sad place.
Later that morning, we reconvened shortly at the house of my brother’s wife/widow and his young children, who shared their own unique pain I will hopefully never know. This part is truly a blur. And after some time, we decided it was right to give them some space and we headed back to my sister’s basement.
We cried some more, we drank. I don’t remember eating. I remember making the joke. “I’m drinking my calories today.” Nobody laughed because the joke was just plain sad. I don’t remember whose idea it was, but soon we were doing what we had been doing for a very long time to relieve stress. We rock banded.
Sometimes I find myself in the ice cream section at the store (how did I get here?), or in the car, and popular Rock Band songs come on and I am immediately transported back to this very particular and sad time. Our song list then was just the one that came with that version of Rock Band, so it’s a niche and memorable list.
One of those songs is Float On by Modest Mouse**. And this is one of the songs we played the day my brother died. On the surface it isn’t a heavy song and perhaps that’s why it snuck up on me and continues to be tied to this time and this memory. Looking at this some objectively, it’s short. Two verses only with a repetitive bridge and very repetitive chorus. It has very distinguishing guitar and drum components, so you can understand why brothers were always fighting over whose turn it was to do each. Float On was and is extremely catchy perhaps because of its uncanny way of being simple and complicated at the same time.
I want to take this moment to say that while I am a lover of music (minus Country music, sorry ((not sorry))), I am not going to pretend to be an avid Indie Rock person or that I know everything about Modest Mouse. I am fluffy pop rock and musical theater gal who also enjoys angsty female songwriters. But in that moment, this song was all of our songs. We belted it out, we kept rehearsing it. When someone messed up, we yelled at them furiously, took it from the top. We really unfurled the emotion with the ‘’take it from the top” business. Our chance to start over. We closed our eyes so we couldn’t see our reflection in the television and pretended we were someplace we weren’t and someplace far, far away in time and space. We all floated on.
On that day my brother died ten years ago today now, I remember being accompanied by my brothers on the guitar, bass, drums and my sister singing our song. There’s a not very emotional line "A fake Jamaican took every last dime with that scam, it was worth it just to learn some sleight of hand." I turned around and saw all their eyes glistening with tears and playing fake instruments like their lives depended on it. Then I started crying so hard I couldn’t sing anymore. The throat burning, painful kind of cry. That’s the thing about grief, it sneaks up on you when you least expect it and makes you cry again when you think there’s absolutely no possible way you have enough saline in your system to produce more tears. You dry out and you are human jerky. But you still somehow produce tears. There I was crying, trying to get through: "bad news comes, don’t you worry even when it lands. Good news will work it way to all them plans." When my drumming brother said to me, without missing a beat. “Keep rocking, Mand. Keep Rockin’”
That little bolstering in a silly, absurd situation I found myself in where I was drinking wine in the afternoon in a dark basement on a hot sunny day we’d been waiting all winter to be out in, was all I needed to keep going.
"And we’ll all float on okay. And we’ll all float on alright." So if you see me in the frozen food (or wine, more likely let’s be honest) or at a bar or Midwestern chain restaurant and those opening cords come on and I begin bawling like a cartoon baby, you know why. And maybe if you see someone else pumping gas at the gas station crying, it’s because their grief song is Chumbawumba. You just never really know. And it’s not your place to judge even if their song is Party in the USA. In closing, I’ll remind you that grief is hard, music can cross boundaries and make things better. Support science and cancer research; support funding for the arts. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you have to choose one. Almost lastly, don’t shame people for grieving in a way that is different than how you would do it and is keeping them alive as long as it’s not self-destructive.
It’s been ten years since my brother died and it still hurts. It’s taken ten years for me to be able to type “dead, die, death,” instead of “passing, loss, departure.” It will never not hurt but knowing people care can help. Reach out to someone who has suffered loss, even if its been awhile, even if they don’t seem like they need it. You’ll feel better doing it and they’ll feel better reading or listening whenever they are ready to hear it.
Already we’ll all float on alright. Already we’ll all float on okay. Don’t worry, even if things get heavy we’ll all float on alright.
*This is not a paid endorsement for Rock Band. I haven’t really played it since the period around my brother’s death. I think if someone walked into my house with it, I would scream and run a hole through an exterior wall Kool-Aid***Man style crying.
**This is not a paid endorsement for Modest Mouse, but if you see this Misters Mouse, I thank you for saving me during a very sad and dark time and for making me smile cry on a regular basis when I hear Float On.
***This is also not a paid endorsement for Kool-Aid

My Little Pony Re-Watch: Episode 51 & 52 A Canterlot Wedding
*I’m just going to be up front here. This is the episode, that made me a brony. This is the episode that made me realize how great My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic really was. For a long time, it was my favorite episode. So of course it’s one of the most divisive episodes in the whole series. So we’re going to approach this differently. Rather then go over events individually, I’m going to stick to talking points more in the style of my video reviews. If i didn’t we’d be here all day. So let’s do this.
*A big complaint about this episode is how Twilight’s brother, Shining Armor, kind of comes out of nowhere. Maybe it’s just because I grew up with a lot of sitcoms, where siblings kind of appear out of nowhere with no previous establishment, but I just kind of accepted Shining Armor’s existence. Though it would have been fairly easy to introduce him sooner. Between the Grand Galloping Gala and Twilight holding her birthday party in Canterlot, it is weird in hindsight that he was nowhere to be seen during all of that. But again, it doesn’t really bother me.
*And i like the touch that his cutie mark is a shield and his most powerful spell appears to be a protection spell able to encase the entire city of Canterlot. It just adds more to my working theory of how talents and magic work.
*Twilight does have a bit of a right to be mad that she wasn’t told about this wedding until days before it’s supposed to happen. But hey, maybe that message that got burned in “Dragon Quest” was the announcement, idk.
*You want to sum up Pinkie Pie in one moment? The confetti sneeze. That is all
*Another criticism of this episode is the other character that appears out of nowhere, Princess Cadance. Now i don’t think the existence of another alicorn comes completely out of nowhere like many claim. Because there was that illustration in “Hearts and Hooves Day” that shows us other alicorns exist besides Celestia and Luna. And as far as we know, they’re all princesses. So this doesn’t break the lore necessarily, but I will agree that this at least was poorly established. Then again the show was never great at presenting Cadance’s role in the world, as we’ll go more into in the next episode.
*I will admit that her supposed love spell is both underutilized and morally questionable, but that’s not a discussion for this post. I think Silver Quill has covered everything on that topic.
*I used to hate the “Sunshine Sunshine Ladybugs Awake” rhyme and dance, but now that they don’t do it anymore, I feel a bit nostalgic towards it watching this again. Is that weird? It feels weird.
*And personally, I think the mystery behind why Cadance is so different from how Twilight remembers her works. Because while Twilight may know Cadance, we don’t. And therefore we can’t really tell what exactly is wrong even when the show tells us something is off. It’s not obvious what’s going on on your first viewing is what I’m saying. We’re just taking Twilight’s word for it that, if nothing else, Cadance has changed a lot. Being dismissive, insensitive, and hypnotizing her fiance to stop asking questions. But that last one probably isn’t that big a deal.
*The rest of the girls may be a bit too dismissive of Twilight’s feelings on the matter, especially after what they learned in “Lesson Zero” but Twilight does have a tendency to exaggerate and be paranoid. So I do get why they wouldn’t just take her word for it. It’s something that they could easily brush off as Twilight being Twilight and not as a red flag.
*Plus not Cadance is pretty good at being manipulative. Getting rid of her old bridesmaids so the Mane Six could fill in. Such a gesture makes it easier for the girls to get wrapped up in the planning and see Cadance in a better light instead of listening to Twilight.
*Lyra speaks! That is all, but when a famous background character finally talks, you acknowledge it.
*I love this episode, but Spike playing with the cake toppers constantly is a really lame way to keep him out of the story.
*Twilight confronting Cadance the way she did might seem like a dumb move, and maybe it was. But keep in mind. Twilight has tried alternatives. Her friends wouldn’t listen to her, the princesses are busy guarding the city, and when she tried to talk to her brother about this, she saw Cadance put a spell on him. She’s in crisis mode here, and wants something done to stop her. So she takes action into her own hooves. The only problem with this plan is that Twi doesn’t really have, proof that Cadance is evil.
*How much this plan backfires is kind of devastating. Even Celestia scolds her for this stunt! By the way the facial expression on Twilight when that happens is one of the saddest faces in the series.
*Then we get a really sad reprise of the previous song, but all anyone cared about was the cute little pointy pony style. It’s crazy how popular this style became! Some fan animation series are made just in this style. It is really cute, I’m just always blown away at just how popular it got, and still is.
*One of the best things to see reactions to in regards to this episode is when not Cadance engulfs Twilight in a ring of fire and sends her to the depth of Hell to cover her tracks! Okay it’s not Hell, but still. It was the best cliffhanger from the show for a while.
*How has the show never used these caves beneath Canterlot since this? I know there’s a line where they say that most ponies forgot these caves even exist, but could you imagine if maybe, the Diamond Dogs wanted to get down here or something? There’s potential to use these caves again, and I’m shocked the show hasn’t.
*And here’s where we learn what’s going on. That Cadance was replaced by an imposter. Now I knew what was going on because I knew who Queen Chrysalis was. That’s what led me to watching this episode. But the story is clever at revealing this twist. There are hints to fake Cadance’s true identity, but since we don’t know Cadance, we wouldn’t notice things like her magic looks different, unless you were paying very close attention to the flashback.
*Ah, This Day Aria. I’ve said that this is quite possibly the moment that sold me on the show for good. And i stand by that. The Disney Renaissance vibes you get from this gorgeous duet are powerful. Between the villain celebrating maniacally and the hero racing desperately, it creates tension and an amazing contrast, performed by the same voice actress. There’s even this clever bit in the melody of contrasting between an Authentic Cadance and a Deceptive Cadance. Everything about this song is marvelous! It’s a beautiful moment to watch play out, and a great way for us to see what the real Cadance is like. I love everything about it!! Obviously.
*I don’t think the way Twilight and Cadance escaped the hypnotized bridesmaids should be as funny as it is, but it is. It’s so funny.
*Queen Chrysalis’ reveal is epic! Her design is incredible and eye catching, her voice s sinister and distinct (I really miss that modulation though), and the introduction of Changelings into this world is such a great concept! The only part that’s kind of weird is that they never say Chrysalis’ name in the episode itself.
*Celestia finally gets to do something and fights back! Only to be immediately defeated. This is one of the most controversial scenes in the episode and i get why, but as far as the moment itself goes, I don’t really feel the same way. In the moment it’s a way to show just how much of a threat Chrysalis is while giving Celestia some agency. For the sake of tension, it works. No what bothers me is the larger trend this started of Celestia getting her flank whooped whenever possible.
*And I get why Chrysalis was surprised it worked. She would have had to take on Celestia eventually, but she might have figured she’d have her army with her by that point. So being able to get the job done herself gives her more of an ego boost in this grand plan.
*And do I even need to comment of the Mane Six battling the changelings? It’s AWESOME! The combat is exciting, there are a lot of funny moments, and between the return of the Party Cannon and using Twilight as a weapon of mass destruction, Pinkie is a master on the battlefield.
*This episode is also unique by being the first two part episode where the major threat isn’t defeated using the Elements of Harmony. Giving a great twist on expectations that I think gets taken for granted.
*Another major point of contempt with this episode is that Chrysalis just stands there and lets her enemies plot to defeat her. And I get that too. I do, but to me it’s not, completely unjustified. After all, Chrysalis’ plan has gone without a hitch. She’s managed to stop anyone in her way at every turn. Now that she’s taken away all major power, why should it be any different now? She’s deluded by her success and doesn’t see a way she can be stopped.
*The only way she is defeated is by something she wouldn’t expect. True and pure love. The changelings manipulate others to gain power from their love of the person they’re impersonating, and Shining Armor was their latest victim. Not believing his own sister because he’s literally being controlled by someone who says they love him. And it’s not Twilight or any of her friends who break that curse, but Cadance. The one who truly loves him. Simply by being there and expressing how much she cares about him. Add to the fact that Cadance’s magic centers around love, something Chrysalis might not have known, and you get an even bigger power boost. It’s pretty cool when you see it at first and beautiful when you think about it any deeper.
*Plus I love cheesy stories where love and friendship and bonds that make us stronger save the day. It’s really my jam and why i stick with the show. And this is one of the best demonstrations of it’s power.
*And the fun little trope twist of the princess saving the knight in shining armor. And then it’s both of them together that stops the villain.
*I know everyone’s made this joke, but because one of my most well know loves is Pokemon “Looks like Team Rocket’s Blasting Off Again!!”
*Hey Twilight and Shining Armor’s parents are back! And they still don’t get any lines. Hooray!
*Props to Dashie for pulling off a Sonic Rainboom so flawlessly!
*Luna?! Where the hay have you been??!! Okay this is another complaint about the episode but this time I have to agree. Where were you??? The only props I’ll give here is that at least they acknowledged she exists. Unlike Return of Harmony.
*I personally think Twilight should’ve gotten more of an apology from her friends, but at least the message still comes across. Not only is there the power of love in it’s toxicity and purity, but also Twilight journey to persist even in the face of doubt. If something seems suspicious to you, especially when it effects the ones you love, pursue it. Investigate and see what you can do to help. And it’s because of Twilight’s actions that she’s able to reunite her brother with someone who genuinely loves him. You might not be able to save someone you love from someone who is just using them on your own, but you can do your best to find someone who can help them. Twilight may not have technically saved the day this time, but she played a very important part.
*Ending with a fun reception with a really catchy song and the reveal that Vinyl Scratch’s eyes are magenta and not red. Breaking the hearts of fan artists the world over... And isn’t that what we should really take away from this episode?
Screw the haters. This episode is amazing! I should really do a full video on this one because I truly love this episode. If anything, the criticisms has made me realize in other ways why I love it so much, and why it sealed the deal for me on this whole magical pony thing. So I suppose I should be grateful for that. There were a lot of other things I could have mentioned, but again, these are just supposed to be short thoughts. Like I’ve said, this is the episode that made me understand why so many people loved this show for little girls, and i will always be grateful for that. Next Time: The Crystal Empire!

Whisper Your Love - Chapter 5
Ao3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/14005500/chapters/32703936
Chapter 4
Masterpost
Despite what many may think, fitting in didn't come easy to Eddie Kaspbrak. As a kid he was better at dance and gymnastics than he was at football and basketball, and that made him the target of many bullies and rumours. Even before he knew what the word meant, he was being called a 'homo' in the halls and had other boys running away from him as if he had something they could 'catch'. This, of course, wasn't helped at home with his mother's constant worrying and over-protectiveness; not a day went by where she wasn't shoving pills down his throat and making up some new disease that Eddie must have because he sneezed twice in a row.
The day Eddie realised the medications she had him on were all fake was both the best and worst day of his life, so to say; the worst because he realised that his whole childhood was wasted on sugar pills and missed field trips, birthday parties he couldn't attend because he was 'too sick' and clothes he never got to wear because they'd flare up his imaginary eczema. He remembered crying for hours on Chris' shoulder that day, ranting about all of the ways his mother had ruined his life, and then once he'd finally calmed down enough to take a breath, Chris had said something that completely changed his perspective.
"But at least now your future can be your own."
And oh, was it going to be alright.
As soon as Eddie entered freshman year, he was signing up to every extra-curricular activity he could squeeze into his timetable. Track, Chess, Birdwatching, World History, and Cheerleading.
He'd dropped out of track pretty quick, his short legs not much help in that department - not to mention the phantom asthma he was (at the time) still trying to get over - and, after a couple short months, Birdwatching had slowly gotten so mind-numbingly boring that not even Stan's presence could help it. Chess was a dud too, because he didn't like how the people in the club looked at him like he was an idiot just because he hadn't been playing since he was five - or something. The other two, though, the other two had been a success.
Firstly, World History is where Eddie Kaspbrak met Ben Hanscom, and he may have not stayed in that club for very long either, but their friendship easily transcended the realms of after-school meetings in the library with the other history dorks into lunches, group projects, movie trips, and eventually a full-blown friendship. It helped that Ben got on so well with his other friends, and with Ben being the new kid, it was easy to fit him into their group.
Secondly, Cheerleading.
Eddie didn't think he'd be good at it; all of the boy's he'd seen on the squad were tall and muscular enough to hold up all of the girls, they were at the bottom of the pyramid, all tense muscles and lean backs and Eddie? Eddie wasn't. Eddie was small, muscled but not overly so, and even shorter than most of the girls on the squad who all somehow resembled supermodels. Eddie was better suited for the fancy tricks than the heavy lifting and, luckily for him, the captain at the time had seen Eddie's try-out performance and known. She'd smiled at him when she posted the team list a week later and that had been that - Eddie learned that he didn't need to be like the other boys, because boys can be on top of the pyramid too.
His popularity had skyrocketed after that, and even more-so a year later when Chris made the football team, and they became Derry High's 'It' Couple.
He made new friends- the Gretas who act like they're sisters with their rivalries but hard-core protectiveness of each other. Darla, a sweet girl with wild natural curls that she braids during game season, twisting ribbons that match her uniform and beads for good luck into the strands before tying it all back with a gigantic scrunchie. There's Audra, their captain, who dyes her naturally red hair black and denies it, even though they've all known each other since kindergarten and everyone knows. He met Mike through Chris, who he knows used to be home schooled before transferring in middle-school.
You could say he's pretty lucky, to be where he is, all things considered - but luck has nothing to do with it. Eddie did it on his own, despite his mother's constant wailing and his own self-conscious setbacks, he did it all anyway.
And he's damn proud.
Well, sort of.
"Your boyfriend bet me I couldn't convince you to come to the rager on Saturday." Eddie slams his locker shut, fixing Stan with as much of a glare he can muster when he really just wants to roll his eyes.
"And you took that bet? Come on Stan, you know I hate parties and besides my-"
"Your mom won't like you staying out late, yes, but listen-" Eddie groans and begins walking, holding his Algebra book to his chest like a shield against whatever diatribe Stan is about to throw at him to convince him to go to the stupid party everyone has been talking about for the past week or so. "- you can say you're studying at mine and that you're staying over because you don't want to walk home late in the dark."
Eddie grunts noncommittally, and Stan sighs. "C'mon, Eddie, I really can't afford to give your boyfriend twenty bucks and if I can't convince you then-"
"Twenty bucks?" Eddie halts, pressing his arm into Stan's chest to stop him from walking too. He raises his eyebrow sceptically, taking in Stan's apprehensive face, and shakes his head. "Okay, no, what else?"
Stan goes red, "um, what do you mean?"
"Um..." Eddie mocks, "Stanley. Stan. I know you better than anybody else and I know for a fact that you don't care about parties, and that you definitely do not care about a dumb bet you made with my boyfriend."
"I do care." Stan mumbles, but Eddie waves him away.
"So what else is it?" He asks. "Why is it oh so important to you that I attend this party-?"
"Rager."
"-and why are you trying to hide it."
Stan crosses his arms, and Eddie smirks, leaning back against whoever's locker they've stopped by and making a come-on gesture with his free hand. Eddie knows what the answer's going to be already, Stan is an open book by design, abhorrent of secrets of any kind - no matter how bad they may be - and there's only one topic that can make Stan break that rule of his because, if there's one thing Stan hates more than lies, it's crushes. Eddie just likes to torture him. Their staring match continues for a few moments before Stan relents with a deliberately bored sounding sigh.
"I overheard Bev Marsh talking to Bill-" Eddie smirks, Stan ignores him, finishing his sentence in a breathless rush like it physically pains him to admit it. "And that new kid about it and they both said they'd be there."
"Aw." Eddie croons. "Stanley you're blushing!"
"Shut up." Stan grumbles. Eddie cackles delightedly.
"You know, I think I will go. If only to watch you stare at Denbrough from the farthest corner away from him for the entire night."
"You know, I actually don't want you to come anymore." Stan deadpans, scowling lightly.
"Too late." Eddie singsongs. The warning bell interrupts anything Stan might have said, and Eddie takes it as an opportunity to make his escape before Stan can eviscerate him with his glares.
*
The Rager, predictably, is exactly the opposite of anywhere Eddie would choose to be on a Friday night. He'd much rather be at home, coming up with routines while listening to his own - good, if he does say so himself - music, and not standing in a freezing cold clearing, wishing he'd worn a heavier jacket, and listening to a drunken Chris ramble on about some football move he's trying to perfect. Chris is well on his way to drunk, and Eddie lost Stan some time ago to the crowd, the little shit.
Ben had disappeared too, mumbling something about finding a bathroom (as if there even were any this far out at the Quarry), but Eddie had just rolled his eyes at the obvious lie and let him go.
Chris seems to have realised that Eddie isn't really listening, because he presses his thumb into the crook of Eddie's elbow to get his attention before nodding down to the empty cup Eddie had been holding since he finished his first drink when he first got there. "Do you want another one?" He asks, already veering off towards the drinks table.
Eddie's eyes widen, grabbing Chris by the back of his letterman jacket - that definitely needs to be washed since Eddie doubts he's let his mom touch it since he first put it on two weeks ago - and pulling him back and away from the overflowing 'bar'. "Nope." Eddie says, "No more, you're trashed, and I'm not dragging your ass home again. How about we go dance?"
Chris pouts, but Eddie pouts better, and he's soon getting his way, pulling Chris to the dance floor by the hand smugly. They're dancing to a song Eddie doesn't recognise when he spots Stan shuffling his way through the crowd. Their eyes meet and Eddie smirks as he trails his gaze pointedly to the corner he'd seen Denbrough standing in about a half-hour ago. Sure enough, the quiet boy is still there, staring down at his phone with a quizzical little tilt to his brow as the lanky looking boy next to him chugs at his cup. Stan's gaze follows his own and, when Eddie looks back, he's got an expression on his face that Eddie considers Stan's form of blushing - something between stony, scared, and like he just ate something exceptionally sour.
Eddie laughs to himself, just as Chris decides to pull him even closer. "What are you laughing at?" He asks, and Eddie chuckles as he stands on his tippy-toes to peer over Chris shoulder. Stan is looking anywhere except at him - his gaze mostly flicking from Bill's dark corner to the bonfire a few feet away where the stoners are sitting.
"Oh, nothing." Eddie sighs, "Just Stanley's insane crush on Denbrough..."
"He's still into that guy? Isn't he a little emo for Stan's tastes?"
Eddie rolls his eyes, "Bill's nice, Chris, just quiet."
Chris hums. "Yeah, I guess. I'm going for another drink." This time, Eddie doesn't bother trying to stop him, knowing it'll just end in an argument. Instead, he ambles over to Stan who scowls at him harder and harder with every step he takes until Eddie is right next to him and Stan is outright glaring.
"Don't. Say. Anything." Stan greets him with, and Eddie chuckles, raising his hands in surrender.
"Wasn't going to, just wondering how the bird watching is going?"
Eddie really is lucky Stan is a pacifist, or he's pretty sure he would've been toast by now. Eddie laughs at the half-pained, half-amused expression on Stan's face before glancing over to the drinks table where he'd left Chris. "Jesus... can't even go two fucking minutes." He mumbles. Stan's eyes follow his before he's raising his eyebrows.
"He's really drunk, huh?"
Eddie nods. "I should go and get him home before he punches that guy in the face."
*
Eddie has never been so cold in his life. The cold in his bones and soaking into his skin takes up the larger part of his thoughts until there's no room for any anger, fear or even hurt. He just feels cold.
He's vaguely aware of someone talking to him, sitting him down on the shore of the Quarry as warm hands grip onto his shoulders, but all he can do is stare and shake. He feels himself shaking, feels his teeth chattering, but his eyes continue to linger, unblinking, on the guy before him.
He's gorgeous.
Even in the darkness, with his hair plastered to his face from the freezing water, Eddie can still see how beautiful this boy in front of him is. He feels a weight land on his shoulders, and another voice joins the first but Eddie can't look away from the guy in front of him. This gorgeous being that saved his life - or is this the afterlife? And this man is the angel sent to greet him at the gates.
"-alright? Eddie?"
Eddie wants to nod but he can't, he's too cold, his body feels like it's frozen in place. All he can do is think.
I can hear you. I'm so cold. Thank you, thank you. Please don't leave me in the cold.
*
Eddie learns the boy's name is Richie Tozier. Richie wears crazy print sweaters under leather jackets and jeans that are ripped all to fuck. He wears muddy converse and has the dorkiest Ralphie Parker glasses when he forgets to wear his contacts. His hair, when it's not plastered to his face with freezing cold quarry water or tied up into a bun is long and curly and Eddie wants more than anything to run his hands through it, see if it feels as soft as it looks.
Eddie wants to do a lot of things.
But, mainly, Eddie wants to know who Richie Tozier is.
He knows he's from California, he knows he sits with Bev Marsh and Bill Denbrough at lunch and he knows the guy shares several classes with him, including study hall. He wants to know what kind of ice-cream Richie likes, what music he listens to when nobody is around, if he prefers beer or wine and whether or not his socks match (he's willing to bet they don't). He wants to know what he smells like when the overpowering smell of Quarry-water isn't clogging his nose, and he wants to hear his voice when his teeth aren't chattering and his ears aren't ringing.
For the first time since Eddie found Cheerleading, Eddie feels like he's found something worth-while again.
He just needs to be sure.
They're talking in the Butterfly Garden, sitting under the waterfall on Eddie's favourite carved bench about their likes and dislikes. Eddie feels a little sad when Richie brushes off saving his life like he doesn't deserve the recognition, like it was nothing, because it wasn't nothing- not to Eddie - and while it may have been something 'anyone would have done', it was something Richie did. And that's important.
So they talk, and as they talk Eddie finds himself staring once again at Richie's face - the way his wide mouth curves around every word like each one deserves their own smile, the way he laughs easily when anything is even the remotest bit funny, and the way he watches Eddie right back. He does all of this, and all Eddie can think about are the butterflies and that stupid quote from that one movie - that when a butterfly flaps its wings in New Mexico, it has the power to cause a hurricane in China. Eddie figures Richie is sort of like that - he's Eddie's butterfly.
Eddie has always been careful, always been pressed by his mother and the town to present the perfect image, always felt like it was his job to change the way people like him are viewed - or were viewed, before Adrian happened - in a town like Derry. He's always been sure to follow the rules, pander to the expectations of everyone around him so they have no reason to hate, to go back to the way things were. With Richie, he feels that weight lifting.
He feels like Richie might be something special, like, because they've met, something somewhere in the world is shifting to accommodate the force of what's to come of it.
Because Richie flapped his wings, and now there's a hurricane tearing through Eddie's carefully constructed world.
*
When Richie leaves the day after Eddie first slept in his bed, his mother immediately begins a tirade of abuse against him - that he's made Eddie sick, that he's not the right sort (as if Eddie himself would be considered the right sort if he didn't put every ounce of his being into pretending to be something he's not). Eddie only half listens to her shouting, ignoring the way her nails dig into the tender flesh of his shoulder, right where the collar of Richie's shirt has fallen down to expose his collarbones. She starts crying when he doesn't respond to her taunts, and this is where Eddie's insides really start to twist.
Thirteen year old Eddie would've done anything his mother asked to stop the fat tears from rolling down her face, collecting in the lines around her mouth and her double chins. He would've fallen all over himself to make her happy but eighteen year old Eddie doesn't particularly care about that, he just wants her to stop.
It's not that he wants his mom to be sad, quite the opposite, he's just learned over the years that making Sonia Kaspbrak happy equates to making himself miserable.
"Mom..." He tries soothing her, listening to the sound of Richie's car driving away. A part of him wishes Richie would've stayed, another wishes he'd taken him with him, and the last part of him wishes he'd never come in the first place and seen what Eddie's life is really like. Sonia turns away from him, her wails getting louder and louder as she brings her chubby hands up to cover her eyes. Eddie breathes for a second, tamping down the urge to just scream back at her and see how she likes it. She'd probably have him sectioned if he did that. "Mom please stop crying, I'm not sick, I'm perfectly fine."
Sonia's sobs cut off suddenly and she whirls around, Eddie stumbling a little with the force of her suddenly angry gaze. Oh, here we go. "This is that boy's fault isn't it?!" She growls. "He's the one turning you into this... this delinquent!"
Eddie rolls his eyes. "Okay, first, he's called Richie, and second, he's literally only been here like two months so he couldn't have possi-"
"Oh!" She cries, pressing the back of her hand to her forehead, raising her eyes to the heavens. Eddie grimaces, the sour taste in his mouth that had been there since she started ranting at dinner making it hard to swallow. "What has he done to you?! My baby, lying, staying out all night, disobeying your mother!"
"Mom, really, I-"
"He's corrupted you! What else has he done, Eddie? Has he touched you?! Have you let him touch you?!" Sonia hisses, and Eddie feels every argument die. He feels sick all of a sudden - he can handle it when his mother is spewing bullshit, when she's ranting out of her ass and Eddie can ignore her. When she's right, though? When she's right, or even just close to being right, it's hard to block out that little voice from his childhood that tells him he should listen to her, do what mommy says and be a good boy. When she's right, he feels himself wilting.
He begins to sweat, and Sonia Kaspbrak notices. Eddie doesn't see the slap coming, the sound of her hand hitting his cheek ringing in his ears as he begins to cry silently. Sonia's hand flies to her mouth, and for a moment Eddie think's the distraught in her eyes is because of what she's done, but then she's grabbing at him, and opening her mouth and Eddie feels himself sinking. His mother just hit him.
"What has he done? How far have you let him corrupt you?" She demands, shaking him. "Are you still pure, Eddie?"
Eddie chokes on his words, still too numb from being hit to really feel the embarrassment of what she's asking him. "Y-yes!" He stutters. "Mamma, please!"
Sonia releases him, sighing in relief as she brings her palms together in front of her lips. Eddie crosses his arms in front of his chest protectively, his tears cool on his stinging cheek. When Sonia looks at him again, she looks calmer, less likely to snap, but Eddie can tell she's still worked up. Her hair is wild, a single curler clinging to a lock at the back of her head and her eyes are bright and red-rimmed. Eddie feels like he probably looks no better at this point.
"I never want to see him again, Edward, do you hear me?" She seethes. "Christopher is a good boy, a Godly boy, and I will not have a son of mine gallivanting off being a... a faggot and a slut!" Eddie flinches at that, and suddenly he's fifteen again, standing in a rainy graveyard and listening to his mother gossiping quietly with one of her church friends.
He deserved it if you ask me... a faggot and a slut... this is God's punishment.
"Don't say that, mamma." He whispers, hating how small his voice sounds. He can feel tears blocking his throat at the harsh memories, can feel panic forming in his chest. "Please don't say that."
Sonia coos at him, wrapping her arms around him and crushing him to her chest. She's shorter than him, but Eddie feels about two feet tall in the wake of her venomous words. "Sweetie, I'm just saying what everyone else would say! You don't want to end up like that other boy, do you Eddie-bear?"
Adrian. His name was Adrian.
Why can't anyone else seem to remember that?
"I just want what's best for you... and that ruffian is the wrong sort for my little Eddie-bear." She pulls him tighter, and Eddie can't find the words to object. "Just look what he's made you do! He's turned you into an adulterer." Eddie feels himself sob, but he can barely hear himself over his mother's words ringing in his head. He wants to disagree, tell her she's wrong - but she isn't. He is a cheater, and a liar, and it's wrong. "Hush, baby, it isn't your fault. God sends us temptations every day, and now you know to avoid him."
Eddie's tears continue to fall as his mother begins to pray.
*
When Eddie finally makes it upstairs, he immediately goes to the bathroom to throw up. The sounds of his mother's prayers ringing in his head to the backdrop of Richie's smiling face.
He feels dizzy thinking about it, like the hurricane has finally reached him and is wreaking havoc in his mind - his vision swirling as he flies out of control. He's losing control, his world is in shambles.
And he's going to do absolutely nothing to stop it.
It's too late, mother, it's already done.
*
Stan is probably Eddie's best friend. He's not his oldest friend - not like Chris is - and he'd never tell Chris that he isn't his best, but Eddie truly feels like Stan understands him better than anyone else in the world.
Stan understands what it's like to have to mould yourself into this idea of 'Derry perfectness' in order to fit in; as one of the only Jewish families in Derry, and the only Jewish kid in their school, Stan has always striven for the same image that Eddie has; clean, nice, and penitent. Chris, on the other hand, is the son of the most respected man in Derry - the priest - and, because of this, his sins are forgiven with little fanfare. It's not fair and, over the last few years, Eddie has built up more than enough resentment over it. Resentment over how easy it is for Chris to just be while people like Eddie and Stan have to walk on eggshells.
That's why Eddie prefers Stan, because Chris never got it when Eddie mentioned it - never even tried to - but Stan and he didn't even need to talk to communicate with one another. Stan gets it all on his own.
Some would argue it's a little strange, the son of the Rabbi and the son of the Priest in the same social circle - and they'd be right. Stan and Chris definitely would not be friends if it wasn't for Eddie. Stan hates Chris more than he hates liars because something Stan hates more than liars and crushes combined are hypocrites.
And it's all a little hypocritical, the way Derry treats and alienates the people who don't fit the mould. The subtle way they marginalise people, with smiles and false pity. Chris doesn't fit the mould, being anything but straight is not part of Derry's mould - unless, of course, you're not visibly queer. Chris can press himself into the mould because, for all intents and purposes, he's a straight man in Derry resident's eyes. It's like their eyes just glaze straight over Eddie when they pass the couple in the street.
Chris is big, muscled, his cuticles are overgrown and he's not afraid to break a bone. He doesn't wear enough layers in the winter, and he spreads his legs wide when he sits down on the bus. He's a man, no doubt about it. Derry can see it and it's like they see Eddie's feminine physique, short stature, and soft small hands clasped in Chris' and think hey, close enough. They gladly overlook the only gay part about Chris if it means they get to keep their fancy ideas of the perfect Priest's son. It was the same with Don.
And Chris is perfectly fine with letting them think that.
But then their eyes do find Eddie and they see a boy who looks like a girl, wears girls' colours and uses girls' shampoo, and they see wrong. They aren't willing to overlook the fact that it was Eddie who fixed Chris' car when it broke down last summer, and it's Eddie who got a score of 100 on his theology essay in ninth grade because he knows the bible inside and out. They aren't willing to overlook Stan's manliness, or his good morals.
The simple fact of the matter is, Eddie isn't the right sort of gay, and Stan isn't the right sort of religious man.
So it's not really a surprise when Stan is the first to notice Eddie acting out. He sees the mould for what it is, so he sees it also when Eddie's shape shifts further away from it, rather than trying to squeeze in, like he used to do. He sees it, and he doesn't like it.
He first brought it up on Thursday, the day Eddie went to the bar to watch Richie sing - and not because Chris asked him to go like he pretended. He'd glared at Eddie until Eddie had told him the truth, and Eddie felt it when Stan called him a hypocrite. Eddie had realised in that moment that, in trying to break away from the restrictive role he'd been playing, he'd unintentionally become everything his best friend hated most in the world. He'd given in to his crush, he'd lied to do it, and he'd become a hypocrite.
He felt it in the look Stan gave him when Richie came through the door to the bathrooms, he'd felt it when he'd gone back over to Richie's house that night - lying again - to beg for Richie's forgiveness. He'd felt it at school on Monday, and again later that night when he'd gone home once more with Richie.
He'd rested his head on Richie's chest as the other boy had slept, his body shifting underneath Eddie's with every deep breath. His hand resting heavily on Eddie's lower back where he'd been rubbing circles until the pull of slumber had dragged him in, and Eddie felt it when he turned his head, pressed a kiss to Richie's bare chest, and closed his eyes, following him down.
He felt it the next day too, after school, lying on Chris' bed with papers strewn around him. They'd been doing homework for a few hours now, and Eddie had had to scribble out the word a few times as his brain had wondered while his pen kept writing. Hypocrite, hypocrite, hypocrite.
He sighs and puts his pen down, picking up his phone instead. Chris shuffles at the desk, half-turned away from Eddie, and Eddie reasons he's far enough away that he couldn't read his phone even if he tried.
He pulls up his messages with Stan, greeted by a slew of blue text bubbles from Saturday through Monday left opened but unanswered.
To: Stanley<3
are you still mad at me?
He doesn't expect an answer, so he places his phone down back on the bed and picks up his pen once more, crossing out whatever he'd written last and re-writing it. A few moments later, he's surprised by the little ding that signals an incoming text. Over on the desk, Chris jumps, his eyes flicking to Eddie before migrating back down to whatever he's working on.
"Who's texting you?"
Eddie checks his phone and, sure enough, "Stanley."
"Oh." Chris hums.
From: Stanley<3
Yes.
Eddie frowns, a little downtrodden, but before he can begin begging for Stan's forgiveness, he receives another text.
From: Stanley<3
But I understand.
Eddie feels a little thrill go through him, quickly typing out a response.
To: Stanley<3
you do???
From: Stanley<3
I guess. Do you like him?
To: Stanley<3
yea
There's a pause, and Eddie bites his lip. He's underselling it a little bit, he really likes Richie, but he knows Stan wouldn't appreciate a monologue so he keeps it to himself. He can hear Chris shifting over by the desk, papers rustling. His phone pings again.
From: Stanley<3
Okay, then you need to break it off with Chris.
Eddie frowns, resisting the urge to groan.
To: Stanley<3
i knowwww
From Stanley<3
I mean it, Eddie. Chris is an ass but he
doesn't deserve this any more than you did.
Eddie bites his lip, trying to figure out how to word a response to that that doesn't sound whiny or like it's filled with excuses - Stan hates excuses - but before he can, Chris lets out a loud yawn from over by the desk and slams his book closed, swivelling in his chair to face Eddie. "Babe, I'm so bored, let's take a break."
Eddie locks his phone, picking up his pen and scribbling a few more nonsensical words onto his page, trying to look busy. "If we take a break now, you know you won't finish later."
Chris groans again, pulling himself off his chair and falling face first onto the bed next to Eddie. He lands on a book Eddie wasn't really using, but he feels annoyed anyway as Chris carelessly pulls it out from under him and flings it onto the floor. "Oh, c'mon, it's not like you're really working, you've been texting with Stan for the past ten minutes." He smirks, shuffling over and wrapping an arm around Eddie's waist, pulling him in. "I know something better we could both be doing."
Not this again. Eddie feels sick all of a sudden but hides it with a strained laugh as he removes Chris' arm from his waist. "No, Chris."
Chris pouts, Eddie hears his phone go off again but doesn't even try to check it. Chris raises his eyebrows, taking this almost as an invitation, and suddenly Eddie feels a hand tracing up the back of his thigh. Eddie shivers as the hand reaches his ass, and Chris grins in triumph before bringing their mouths together in a heated kiss. He places his other hand on Eddie's hip, rolling him over before moving to straddle one of Eddie's legs, his knee firmly pressed up against Eddie's groin.
The sick feeling doesn't go away as Eddie allows Chris to kiss him, and it gets stronger when Eddie realises that he doesn't feel this way when he's kissing Richie. He feels a little dizzy at the realisation, so dizzy that he doesn't notice when Chris starts grinding softly against his leg, his half-hard erection pressing insistently into Eddie's hip and his kiss becoming sloppier as he moans into it. Eddie barely feels it, too lost in his own head and the realisation that it no longer feels like he's cheating on Chris.
It feels like he's cheating on Richie.
Eddie snaps out of his thoughts when one of Chris hands shifts Eddie's legs until he's between them, and then Eddie feels something similar to what he felt when he fell into the Quarry. Cold, confused, and most importantly, like Richie is all he can see.
"Stop." He mumbles, turning his head away from Chris. Chris just begins kissing bruises down his neck so Eddie repeats himself, a little louder, his words punctuated by a small shove. Chris gets the message, pulling back with a groan that's more of a frustrated sigh and falling down into the bed beside Eddie.
"Eddie, come on, we've been dating for years, when are we gonna do it, huh?"
Eddie huffs, sitting up onto his knees so no part of his body is touching his boyfriend's. Chris looks perplexed at this, clearly frustrated with Eddie's behaviour. Yeah? Well me too buddy. "Is that all you want? Sex?"
Chris' mouth falls open in clear offense, his eyebrows furrowed. "Obviously fucking not or I wouldn't still be here would I?"
"You're only here because I fucking let you stay." Eddie counters. He feels a surge of hurt at his own words, the harsh reminder of that time.
Chris, however, apparently feels no remorse. "Oh, not this shit again - it's ancient history Eddie!" Eddie growls, throwing himself off the bed and collecting his things, shoving them into his backpack. Chris huffs. "Babe." Eddie ignores him, casting about to find his shoes and trying hard not to let any frustrated tears slip down his cheeks. He hears movement behind him and figures Chris must've stood up too. "Babe, come on!"
"No!" Eddie whirls around, shoving Chris hard in the chest. He barely moves and Eddie just feels all the more angry for it. "Do not tell me to get over this, Chris."
"It's been three years! Everyone else is over it - it's just you, holding this over my head for no fucking reason."
"'No fucking reason'?" Eddie seethes. Shoving the one converse he's found onto his foot without bothering to do up the laces, he huffs out a single bitter laugh. "You cheated on me, Chris!"
The truth is, Eddie is over that part. He doesn't particularly care anymore because, over time, he began to care less and less about Chris and with that, his ability to care about the rest of their issues disappeared. He's not sad, he didn't lie to Richie. He doesn't want a rebound or revenge, he's just so angry because Adrian was his friend. Adrian was the one who told him it was okay to feel the way he felt, he was the one who held him while he cried after telling his mother he was gay. He was the one who told him that being gay doesn't make you a sinner or a bad person.
He was the first person to know when Chris and Eddie went on their first date, and second, and third, and when Chris kissed him for the first time. The only person up until a year ago, when Eddie found out that Adrian had gone straight from holding Eddie - as he cried over his mother's harsh words - to his boyfriend's house, where he'd found his boyfriend's little brother, his friend's boyfriend, alone, and betrayed them all.
And Eddie didn't even have time to hate Adrian for it - because he never found out until two years after Adrian died. He never figured out how he was supposed to feel. He was caught somewhere between grief, anger, and fear. He loved Adrian because that's all he'd ever known. He hated Chris but stayed with him, because Chris was once his best friend, and he naively believed that he could get over the betrayal the same way he got over it for Adrian.
He did get over it, the hate, but he also got over the love, the trust, everything except the betrayal because what he failed, or refused, to understand is that he never got over it for Adrian, he just pushed it aside because hating him made him feel guilty; so, instead of hating everyone else, he hated himself for still loving everyone who has ever betrayed him.
Chris tries one last time to pacify Eddie, grabbing onto Eddie's hip as Eddie nearly stumbles trying to put on his second shoe. Eddie pulls away from the touch like he'd been burned. "Eddie, relax, he's dead now anyway."
Eddie freezes, the nausea in the pit of his stomach returning tenfold, replacing all of his anger from the past few minutes. Relax. How could he? He's dead now anyway. Eddie looks at Chris and he sees a stranger, he doesn't see the boy who sobbed into his hands as he confessed, spurred on by a family meal gone wrong just before his brother left Derry for the last time. He doesn't see the boy who had held Eddie whenever Eddie had cried, speaking words of comfort and wisdom. He sees a man, standing in his once best-friend's now boyfriend's clothes, saying things that send chills down Eddie's spine.
He sees someone who is careless with his words, who will hurt you and then say he didn't mean it. Eddie knows it’s true, Chris never means it, but he does it anyway.
It's cruel, the way people speak about Adrian now. As if all he is is the dead homosexual of Derry, Maine. He was more than that; he was kind and he was funny, he was also cruel, and deceitful. Death was no light subject, especially not Adrian's death, and especially not to Eddie, and Chris had just completely disregarded that. Trampled all over Adrian's impact like it was nothing - like Adrian dying didn't change literally everything about Derry. Like his actions with Adrian before his death didn't change literally everything about their relationship.
What's worse is that it feels not only like he's disregarding Adrian, but he's disregarding the broken trust Eddie still harbours between them. Like Eddie's trust means nothing to him, because Eddie is just a secondary role in the hierarchy of this sham they call a relationship.
It leaves Eddie feeling weak.
"You're right." Eddie mutters, his hands clinging to the straps of his backpack, fingertips turning white from how hard his fists are clenching around the fabric. "He's dead. You fucked him, and then he died - maybe I don't wanna follow in his footsteps."
*
While Eddie is walking home, his untied laces dragging along the rainy sidewalk, he checks his phone and see's one last text from Stan.

3AM Drive - Thru (JJK x You x The8/Minghao) //Chapter 8
MASTERLIST
(Feat. The ‘97 liner of the male squad idol)
“Hey Y/N, my idol friends wants to meet you. Would you like to?”
“Oh, you mean your group members?”
“Nope. My 97 liner friends. Hey, you are a 97 liner too! You can join the squad!”
“You have a 'squad’ now?” Y/N giggled. “Sure. I would love to meet them. But who’s them again?”
“My own group members, DK and Mingyu, Got 7’s Bam Bam and Yugyeom, NCT’s Jaehyun and the most popular idol of course… Jungkook from BTS,”
———————————————————–
“Jung…Jungkook?” She stuttered.
“Yes. From BTS,” Minghao looks up from his food and turned to Y/N. “Why do you sound so shocked? Are you a fan? Omg, are you secretly an ARMY?” He fake gasps. Y/N smacked his shoulders.
“Yah! No…no! You know I’m not into these k-pop things,” Y/N gave a nervous laugh. “The only group I know is yours, and that’s only because you make me listen to it almost everyday!”
“Hey, you should be thankful I’m blessing your ears AND eyes with our songs and performances,” Minghao defended himself. It is true that he had made Y/N watch every single Seventeen’s performance video out there. The only thing left is to actually get her to the concert. Which he will, soon.
“You are right. My eyes are blessed,” Minghao quirked an eyebrow to that. Is Y/N talking about him? “That Wonwoo guy is ridiculously hot. He’s really a sight of sore eyes. Especially with you around in the videos!”
Minghao eyes turned sad but starts to sparkle again when he realized that Y/N is only teasing because she laughs so hard looking at his reaction until she teared up. Minghao smiles and shoved her shoulders playfully, his heart calming down. “Yah, you should be grateful this most wanted star is actually willing to wake up just to eat some ridiculously early breakfast with you!”
Y/N, who is still laughing just nodded, “Yeah, yeah,”
“So, will you meet them?”
Y/N, finally able to compose herself nodded. “Yeah, why not. You know I will do anything for you, especially if its important to you Minghao,” she smiles and continue digging into her waffles. Just one simple smile and one simple statement, and Minghao’s heart is pounding so loudly that he’s sure people from across the world can hear him.
God, Minghao. You really have to do something about these feelings. Minghao reminds himself while patting his chest.
—————–
“They are still not here yet?” Bambam kept on glancing at the door of the cafe. After a lot of planning, they finally manage to set a date where everyone is available to meet Y/N.
“Why the hell are you so excited?” DK raised his eyebrows at Bambam’s giddyness.
“I’m just excited to meet the girl who is currently the talk of the town. And also, for your information, its getting kind of boring when its always just us guys hanging out,” he pokes DK’s chest while explaining.
Jungkook just sits quietly and sipped his coffee, looking calm, but in the inside he is no way near being calm. He’s definitely nervous. He wonders if Y/N knows that she’s meeting him tonight? And if she does, is she looking forward to it? Is she still angry at him? Did she really moved on? Does Minghao knows about them? So many questions lingered on his mind.
“They are here!” Jungkook turn to look at the door. His heart starts to beat even faster, out of excitement or nervousness, he himself is not sure.
He saw Minghao entered first, one hand holding the door for Y/N and the other clasping hers tightly. He was smiling widely and she was laughing at something he said. To anyone who is watching the scene, they sure look like a couple. A very much in love and happy couple. Jungkook huffed at his own thoughts and turned back to his seat, waiting for their arrival.
“Gosh she is even hotter in real life,”
“Now I really wants her to join our squad,”
“I cant wait to mock the hell out of Minghao later. Look at his stupid grinning face! That boy is in love for sure!”
“Yikes, you are right. She looks more like a celebrity than we do!”
Jungkook can hear the chatter of his friends but all he can focus on is Y/N. She caught his stare and after more than two years, they finally made eye contact. And she smiles.
——————
Laughter and cackles can be heard around the table. It has been hours since they were introduced to Y/N and apparently the boys not only thinks she’s hot, but funny, witty and interesting. They enjoyed her company very much.
Jungkook did join the conversation here and there but most of the time he just keeps on staring at her. Thank God he is known for being akward to new people, so the other boys thought he is just quiet because he is meeting her for the first time. Y/N, who is too busy chatting with boys didnt notice the staring.
They bumped into each other when Jungkook came back from taking a breather outside and Y/N from the ladies’ room. They stand there akward with each other.
“Hello, Jungkook,” Y/N smiles at him. That beautiful smile that he miss so much.
“Hello Y/N,” Jungkook managed to stutter out. It feels so weird to hear her calls him Jungkook and not Kookie like she usually does. Y/N nod at him and start to make her way back to the table. “Hey, why dont we go out and talk for a bit? Its been so long since we last seen each other,” Jungkook caught her wrist before she could get away.
“Sure, why not,”
“So how are you?” Jungkook starts. He is grateful that the cafe have an outdoor section that is cozy and filled with sparkling fairy lights. It makes the environment more warm and… romantic?
“I’m so much better now. I feel better,” Y/N replied, full of sincerity.
“I saw on the news that you had chosen to reveal your identity. I’m glad you finally decide to do it,”
“Yeah. I think I’m ready now. Its about time anyway. I cant hide who I am for so long. I feel like I’m in a better place now. Happier and stronger,” with that, an akward silence seems to come between them. Jungkook spoke up after a while.
“Y/N… are we… are we okay now?” Y/N looks at him, her eyes staring holes into his soul.
“Yeah. I think we are Jungkook. I think I have finally overcome my weakness,” Jungkook dont know how to feel about that. He should be happy. He should be glad that Y/N has overcome her weakness. Her weakness of loving him too much. But his heart cant seem to be happy for her. “I never thought I can do it. But Minghao came into my life like a blessing. I dont think I can be as happy as I am today without him,”
Jungkook felt a little ached in his heart but decides to smile anyway. “That’s…. good. Are you two…?” He put two of his fingers close together, implying that he is asking if they are together.
“Oh no, no,” Y/N shakes her head. Then she smiles. “Not right now at least,” she laughs at that. “I dont think Minghao feels that way about me. But he is the best bestfriend I could ever ask for. And he is such an amazing man,”
Jungkook can hear the adoration and awe in Y/N’s words that makes him wonder if she herself didnt know that she is indeed already fallen in love with Minghao. The word best friend felt like a slapped to Jungkook’s face. That title use to be his.
“And how about you? How do you feel about him?” too curious, he decides to ask. Jungkook knows for sure that Minghao definitely has feelings for Y/N and he will say yes in the blink of an eye if she ever asks him to be with her.
“I dont know, to be honest. During the two years we have been together, I dont think I have ever felt happier. He takes care of me and he’s always there for me. I might not know exactly how I feel but all I know is I want to see him happy all the time. I cant imagibe anything bad to happen to him. I think I will die if that ever happens,”
Jungkook ponders on her words. He can feel his heart clenching. He asks the only thing he can think of. The only way that can ensure that she will atleast be in his life again. “Hey Y/N? Can we be friends again?”
“Yes. I dont see what’s wrong with it,”
————– Inside the cafe, Minghao is curious. He saw Y/N and Jungkook went out and talk at the outdoor portion of the cafe. He finds it weird that they took so long as he knows that Jungkook is usually uncomfortable with new people. Especially girls. Minghao finally decides to just let it go and trust Y/N. Afterall they are not together for him to be jealous or angry. For all he knows, Y/N might really be an ARMY and she’s fangirling on Jungkook like crazy right now. He chuckle to that thought.
“Hey, why are laughing?” Y/N whisper to his ear while she slipped back into the seat beside him
“Oh, you are back,” out from the corner of his eyes he can see Jungkook taking his seat too. He has some kind of glow on him. Like he’s happy. Too happy. He wonders what did they talk about.
“Yeah, sorry. Jungkook and I talked,” she smiles. A smile that is enough to not make Minghao asks about their conversation. “Hey, its almost 2am,” she glanced at her watch. Minghao laughed loudly, understanding what she meant.
“Hey guys, its running late. I think Y/N and I will make a move first,” Minghao told his loud friends who are still busy chattering.
“Awhhh come on. Its the weekend. Y/N doesnt have work tomorrow! We thought about catching the last wave at that new bar nearby. Join us!” Yugyeom excitedly exclaimed.
“Nah, maybe next time. Besides, Y/N doesnt drink anyway,” Minghao explain.
“What? Really?!”
“Amazing! I’ve never met anyone our age who doesnt drink,”
“Ahh, no wonder Minghao drinks less now. Y/N, you are seriously a good influence on him. Please take care of our Minghao better,” DK winks.
Jungkook just kept his mouth shut. Y/N not drinking is one of her qualities that he love best, unlike Minji who gets insanely drunk any chance that she can. His feelings are like a tornado today. His been feeling a lot of things tonight; happy, giddy, butterflies in his stomach, heart clenching, anger, proud and the two most confusing ones are jealousy and the feeling of being in love…
“Shut up,” Minghao smacked DK. “We have another place to be anyway. Its almost 2am,”
“Ahhhhh okay we get it. Go ahead then,” Bambam smirked, suggestively and wiggling his eyebrow. “We didnt know you guys have that kind of relationship,”
Y/N turned red in the face at what Bambam is suggesting and Jungkook feels like he’s dying. He knows he has Minji now and he did way more with her, but the thoughts of Y/N and Minghao… he just feels like punching everyone.
“Yah! Its not like that you ass!” Minghao exclaimed. “See, now you are embarassing Y/N!” The boys laugh. “We are going to the drive thru to get some chicken nuggets,”
The boys laughs even harder. “Whatttt? At almost 3 am?”
“Its Y/N’s habit okay! And apparently I am always the sacrificial lamb that has to do it with her,” Minghao grabbed Y/N’s hand and rubbed its back, an act that didnt go unnoticed by Jungkook.
“Yah! Shut up! If its not because of this habit we might never have met!”
Jungkook clenched his hands into fists under the table without realizing. He really really dont understand why he is feeling this way. It should be him that's supposed to take her to the drive thru. Him and only him.
So I guess you did find someone else who is willing to do it with you. I really wish its still me though…
———————————————————- Chapter 9 Preview
Jungkook grab her hand.
“Y/N I need to talk to you. Please,” he then turned to Minghao who starts to stand up. “And it would be wise if you do not interfere. This is between me and her,”
////////
“Yah Y/N. Why are you talking to MY Kookie and his oppas like that, you psychotic fan!? Dont you know who he is? Who they are? Who I am?”
“Minji, stop it. Just-”
“Its okay Jungkook-ssi. Minji-ssi, I apologize. I will asks someone else to assist all of you for the broadcast,”
“Y/N, you dont have to-”
“Let go of my hand Jungkook-ssi. Please respect Minji-ssi’s feelings. Afterall, I am not of importance to you,”
