Alright so someone on tiktok sent me a link to a compiled list of arguments against proshippers and so I wanted to put a sort of brief response of my own thoughts of each point.

Long post warning!

"Proshippers are non-offending minor attracted people in a fresh paint of coat"

What a start, am I right? Okay so first off this is a huge generalisation, not every proshipper engages with or is even comfortable with anything that sexualises fictional children, or ships them with adults. And of those that do ship adult/minor ships, it doesn't always mean they're attracted to the character themselves or gains any sexual pleasure from that.

They then went on to say that although they might be non-offending, they still fantasise about and romanticise children- in the case of proshippers by creating art and stories. And I am not personally educated enough on how people's minds works to go in depth here, but I do know a lot of pedophilic thoughts can be intrusive and unwanted. And I would much rather people engage in this and deal with their thoughts through fiction where no actual children are harmed, than actually go touch a real child or engage is any form of CSEM.

“People can draw and ship whatever they want!”

Here they went on to say that surely to ship and create content you must justify these things in some capacity regardless of them being fictional. And immediately I'd argue, the justification it that they're fictional. And that sometimes you want to read about things you'd never approve of in real life, it's a natural curiosity. And again, regardless of what the dark content is I would take someone engaging in fiction over harming a real person any day.

They compared this to alt-right groups and dark humour justifying racism and transphobia, etc. And whilst I think something we should always be aware of in fiction is stereotypes and how we may be representing people. Youtube videos like this are usually a type of propaganda that AIM to change people's mindsets and turn them against groups. Whereas fiction tells a story, some may have meanings and connections to real life, be a political piece, etc. Not everything is that serious and has a clear distinction from reality.

Think for example, reading/watching about murder and gore. More on that in a second.

"Fiction doesn't affect reality!"

I'm going to be honest I rolled my eyes at this as their main example was slenderman. If you don't know about that, those girls were schizophrenic. Anything could of set off and caused delusions, it just so happened to be fiction. Those girls needed help- not to just read purer content. They also basically brought up propaganda again, which is again deliberate and designed to warp peoples perceptions. Its based of lying and spreading misinformation and passing it as facts. The only thing I strongly believe can be directly harmful is stereotypes if not handled with care. But I think that's something for anyone who writes and consumes content should be aware of regardless of their stances.

Again here they implied that all proshippers are peodophiles. And that they normalise abuse of children. I'd also like to point out that most proshippers I've interacted with online have age boundaries to avoid interacting with minors depending on how graphic or sexual their content is.

"What do you think all stories about murder should stop existing?"

Here they basically argued that killing in media isn't the same as its not romanticised or condoned. YA Novels disagree- mafia stories being the most immediate example to spring to mind. Furthermore, morally grey villains. One of my favourite films is Mr Right. It's about a hitman killing people. Anna kendrick falls in love with him and its framed as a romantic comedy. Funny how its only fanfiction that's criticised like this? I actually have more thoughts on this if anyones interested.

Again they bring up kids not knowing adults pursuing children is wrong, and I'm questioning why children this young are unsupervised on the Internet. How young were you when you were allowed to watch anything with graphic blood or violence? This content isn't made for kids! Especially not anyone so young they can't seperate fiction from reality as most sites have a specific age you have to be to join. And I'm sorry to say it, but on websites and social media where adults can interact with kids, anything can be used to groom kids. (The real thing you should be mad about here is how there's no websites aimed just for children and safe spaces on the Internet anymore cause it can't be monetised as easily)

"Artists are allowed to draw and write about dark people"

They basically said, yes but it's not the same as promoting. Writing something under a romantic light and not saying "Don't do at home!" Isn't promoting. No ones encouraging these things in real life. Or rather, if they are its not because they're a proshipper but rather who they are as a person and their intentions.

The trans example they used is very extreme and honestly something I agree with a little more, fiction can definitely be used as an excuse to say and act out hateful and discriminatory things. Whilst I do think it's something we should discuss and unpack more, I'm not certain of my view on how I would fix this without risking silencing people talking about their experiences.

"Its not my responsibility to look after other people, just block me and the tags"

Here they threw all kinds of accusations. And says that we're making traumatised people jump through hoops to avoid getting retraumatised. I hate this argument, you know people have actual triggers they may not be able to avoid in real life? The world can't bend around you. And I am very sorry if any content online is traumatising to you, but someone could also be traumatised by a certain breed of dog and not want to see it. Should no one post dogs online ever again? A bald man reminds you of an abusive ex? Bald men get off the Internet! You see how this thing can just keep escalating? The tags and warnings are important because they're the best you can get. You can't control the world to protect everyone from everything ever. No ones forcing you to interact, and if you're on any algorithm based content that will encourage that content on your for your page more.

The only thing I think we should take from this is the reminder that warnings and tags are always important.

"You only care about censoring creativity"

Here they defend themselves that oh wouldn't you want freaks out the community! Which again immediately makes me lose respect for you, if you're just going to brand us all as freaks as an argument and generalize us.

No comment on that first line when you can easily argue antishipper do the same.

"Proshippers are not remotely innocent of targeted harrasement" Neither are antis. There's people who take things too far both sides and I'm not going to defend either for that.

"Real kids get assaulted and all you care about is censoring people online!"

Here they shout "oh I can care about both!" But what I don't think they realise is censorship can make it difficult for kids and to learn about how to speak up and to look for signs, or to speak up about their experiences. How do you plan on removing the topic from the Internet whilst also letting victims speak up? And people may want to write fiction based off their experiences. Who are you to go through it and proclaim what is too far, what romanticises it too much? More on this later.

"Antis are reducing my trauma"

They compared this to saying "date rape victims are reducing my trauma because they weren't taken advantage of in the same way as me" which is a disgusting parallel?? Date rape is still rape. Someone writing about something isn't the same as it happening. Although it can be used as harrasment, grooming, etc if directly addressed to you or being constantly sent to you, written about you. But the content existing in general? No.

"I'm coping"

Compared it to self harm, and such. Poetry and diaries are also used to write about your experiences and unpack trauma. Some of which may write it in an unrealistically positive light cause that's how they want to unpack it or explain those thoughts. And yes these things get posted online.

I can't imagine a single therapist or professional psychiatrist of any kind disapproving of creative writing because, again, it's much better than any alternatives of doing real harm to yourself or people around you. Although I do agree that if something is traumatising for you to read about and just upsets you further, be aware of your own boundaries but not everyone is the same so how are you going to police people's own thoughts and emotions.

Also I can't remember who or where as it was years ago now, but I have heard of people who actually realised they were being groomed or abused and just how bad it was through reading about it in a fanfic and seeing it in an outside perspective.

They also say to do it in private, but doesn't everyone on the Internet now have an understanding of finding a community and looking out for eachother and sharing experiences?

"There's more nuance here than just calling proshippers peodophiles"

Here they say no matter what it still comes down to whether it's ever okay to sexualise minors in certain contexts. And again, not every proshipper does this or is even comfortable with engaging in this kind of content. And further, no one is sexualising real minors in this context.

"I'm a proshipper and a minor tho!"

I'd agree minors should be wary of the spaces they're in but proship spaces aren't always necessarily sexual, graphic or 18+. Saying they're being groomed feels like you're watering down that term. I was a proshipper at age 13, I didn't interact with anyone online about it though, I didn't even know that was the term. I just came to the conclusion that it's just fiction all on my own. Minors aren't idiots.

At then end they talk about their own experience being groomed and I'm obviously not going to nitpick or criticise their experiences. I will point out that one person being bad and taking advantage of you and using content to do so doesn't mean everyone is like that. I am sorry to anyone who has been taken advantage of by someone who claims they're a proshipper though. There are people who have turned out to be horrible on both sides.

I am ill and it's late but I want to get this up sooner rather than later so please ask for clarification on anything. I'm always up for a discussion on this topic as I do believe some of these points do have merits at times and that this whole topic is not black and white

Okay so I've been sitting on Drake so called "diss track" and I still declare it as the biggest CONTRADICTING ASS track ever. 3. Drake fucked up and did another diss, but used AI to recreate Tupac & Snoop Dogg, I haven't bothered listening to it.

4. Kendrick responded with Euphoria on Tuesday, as in this past Tuesday.

5. Kendrick drops 6:16 in LA, a few days later.

6. Drake releases Family Matters, most of it is about Kendrick.

7. Kendrick releases Meet the Grahams in less than an hour after Drake's track. Yes, either 30 or 45 minutes after. He's on demon time.

8. Kendrick releases Not Like Us within 24 hours of his last diss. Now, this particular one is on some serious demon time, this is on Chip & Lady Leshurr demon time (2 UK rappers that are known to do this type of crazy disses in a 24 hour period, usually with a music video. Yes, I said music video). Also, this diss is a club banger. Damn song keeps making me dance.

So 4-8 all occurred this week, from Tuesday. Kendrick Lamar released 4 diss tracks in 5 days! Kendrick's really on his Death Note era, and I need to step my hater game up.

Just a Prank

POV: Taylor Thornton, a famous youtuber, who becomes in a relationship with Rafe Cameron. her viewers are familiar with him as he has been in your videos for a while now. Another thing they are familiar with is that they know she likes to pull a good prank on him once and a while.

you propped up your camera, getting ready and hitting the record button. You turn the knob, and enter the bathroom to see Rafe with just a towel around his waist, testing the water temperature to get in. That is when he notices you coming inside, stepping away from the shower. "here to come yell at me some more" He asks, crossing his arms like a child which made you laugh a little.

"You think this is some funny joke Tay" He asks. It takes a lot of focus to swing through Mumbattan with a passenger, but I've done it a billion times. However, it's a little more difficult this time.

I sat in a chair next to one of the crash victim's hospital bed. The teenage boy hadn't woken up yet, and as much as I'd like to be with Pav right now, my duty as Spider-Woman is to make sure people are safe- even if they're not from my universe.

Yoongi is so beautiful.

Yoongi is a rock star, and I mean that in a literal sense. He makes rock music, thinks like a rock star, and sings like a rock star. His live renditions of Amygdala are the perfect example of this. Pairing screamo rock in the chorus with the guitar solos in the outro, everything about Yoongi's vision for that song is centered around liberation, a value that's inherent to a rock star.

I laughed reading all your asks btw. (Anon in ask 6, I see you, I get you, and I don't judge you.) Ranking Agust D's songs is impossible for me. My personal taste is screamo rock and dirty trap or drill, I like songs with distinct percussion, lots of guitars, and/or distortion, voice cracks, autotune, etc. Artists like Nirvana, ONE OK ROCK, Kendrick Lamar, Twenty One Pilots, and Jimin give me bits and pieces of that sound, but no one in BTS knows how to scratch that itch for me better than Yoongi.

He’s just the right kind of insane to speak my language.

The duality that shimmers around Jimin like a mirage and is central to his magnetism, where you can’t be sure of who, what, exactly you’re looking at - man, woman, child, king, snake, panther, cat, metal, silk, fire, ice - all in one. That duality, lives in Yoongi’s music.

It’s elsewhere too, but it lives in his music. Even underneath all of that, he just makes some of the best music around.

That beat change at the end of Shadow? That's music tailor-made for me. Cypher Pt 3, AGUST D (the song), What Do You Think?, Trivia: Seesaw, the live performances of HUH?! and Amygdala are a revelation. All his music sounds perfectly made for me.

I honestly have no choice but to love him.

You know, when I heard the live performance of this song, I called a friend to help me re-calibrate my speakers. To recreate that feel. The production on the song is insane. Not to mention Yoongi's flow in the second verse.

The guitars are placed and layered perfectly. I love how forward the drums are in the mix. The autotune is one of my favourite things about it too. The entire song is perfect.

Daechwita

Am I the only person who hears the same static in the song intro that continues faintly in the foreground for the entirety of the song? As though you're entering a glitch. It's so sick. The main/central beat doesn't vary much, all the texture comes from Yoongi's adlibs. And he does an excellent job elevating it to something more.

You've all seen me go on and on about Jimin's vocals. About how much Jimin's voice is the catalyst for ecstasy when I listen to BTS's music. But Yoongi's voice affects me just as strongly, if not more, in a very different way.

I’m a sucker for the kitten. That insane high pitched thing he does drives me to the limits of my sanity. But he’s also a natural baritone. A nasty one at that. You can hear it in the music he makes. And that’s my kryptonite.

Blog #1 - Afrofuturism??

Okay, honestly, straight up. I had no idea what Afrofuturism was and how it related to pretty much anything else. Well, I guess that’s only partly true because while I didn’t know the name or that it was even a “thing,” I definitely enjoyed and consumed Afrofuturistic content – just without knowing it. For example, Black Panther, Kendrick Lamar, and Beyoncé are all Afrofuturistic art/artists that I know and love.

I also didn’t know there are different definitions or various ways different people can classify Afrofuturism – so I really like that it can mean different things to different people. I find that to be super inclusive! In general, I learned that Afrofuturism is more like Black Speculative Arts (as referenced by my professor) and can include Science Fiction, Futurism, Black Futurity, as well as some fantasy elements and even horror. What I personally found really interesting was one of the propellers of creating this type of genre – the aspect of the lack of inclusion often found in mainstream – *ahem* white – futuristic, fantasy, and dystopia films. Like, a lot of those films don’t feature Black people at all (or only briefly or they die) and while I could recognize that obvious lack of representation before, I didn’t really think about the bigger implications.

Like, the actual erasure of Black people in the future. If they are not in most versions or creations of peoples ideas of what the future is – Where are they? What does that say about how people see (or don’t see) them now? What happens to them? What about their future? Where do they belong? What does this exclusion say to them about their role in society? I know many may say it’s not that deep – but isn’t it tho? It’s an interesting train of thought that I have, unfortunately, never considered before in the context of Afrofuturism. And if I’m being honest, I’ll have to admit that stems mostly from me never having to be worried that I wouldn’t see a person like me – a white woman (even if only for the eye candy) – on a screen or in the future. (Though it is also in minor part because I don’t really watch a lot of futuristic / dystopia / utopia films in general).

But this lack of inclusion is what makes Afrofuturism so important and interesting! Because, much like I learned in my last AfAm Studies class about Black horror, this genre too is being reclaimed and rewritten. The idea of an apparently white utopian future is being challenged in really impactful ways and in various artforms – from movies and TV shows, to books and music. It’s been really fun to get introduced to artists I’ve never heard before (like Sun Ra) even if their sound isn’t really my thing. But it’s important to remember that it isn’t so much as whether I like the music or not, but about the way he challenged and changed the sound of music with (mostly) only his keyboard and how his style and imagery has had a lasting impact on musicians I do love – like Janelle Monáe! And now that I know what to look out for, I can see the references and callbacks – like the hooded mirrored faced entities present in both Sun Ra’s music videos and Janelle Monáe’s. I think its good to know what inspired some of my fave works of music and art – and the how and why of its creation.

hello. it’s been five days since my last letter which is kind of a while so, my apologies. i haven’t had anything to necessarily write about in a while. i’ve been working on making some new music and it’s super difficult to come up with lyrics that i genuinely like. taking breaks is good for the process. i used to make songs in only a matter of hours but now it takes me a few days. i feel as if that’s a good thing because the quality of my tuneage has steadily increased also i believe! topic of the week: tumblr rappers. more specifically, girly tumblr rappers from the 2011-2013 era. i’ve been doing massive stalks of that era for the entirety of this month in an attempt to dig down into the depths of this outlandish genre which inspires me so deeply. i wanted to make this topic into either a video essay or some sort of a blog post, but ill tell you about my personal details and opinions regarding things i’ve discovered throughout my ventures into the gold mind.

topic 1: the tale of twin cities (kilo kish and kitty)

the blog era was notorious for its down to earth nature and the birth of the biggest rappers you know, such as kendrick, drake, and everyone else that bagged a #1 hit in 2016. a side of the blog era that a lot of people reminisce on and cringe at rather than uphold it is the side that was hidden inside of brooke candy’s music video gifs and the girls that went to shows all throughout brooklyn during summer 2012. the side that lived and died with tumblr and shampoo and drunk dials at 3:30 am. the era where girls ruled and boys Drooled!! XD.

two prominent figures from this era with a soft girly rap style unique to themselves were kitty (formerly known as kitty pryde, which i’ll be calling her because it goes well with the other name), and kilo kish. the first artist out of these two that i fell in love with was kilo kish. it was the winter before i turned 17, and i was chronically online to the upmost capacity due to being home a lot from surgery. her music captivated me so much because it was so… fresh. it felt new although everything i was listening to came out almost ten years ago. it was so unique and inspiring. she rapped so softly, in such a carefree nature that made me feel cool every time id go anywhere with her songs playing throughout my eardrums. kilo kish felt like an artist that was me before i was conceptualized. she was the adult version of myself before i could even create one myself. she was my muse, and i loved everything about her. she was born in orlando but moved to new york to go to fashion school, which has always been my fucking dream. I WANTED TO GO TO ART SCHOOL IN NEW YORK. I WANTED TO WALK AROUND BROOKLYN BEING COOL. AAAACK. it was alright because i got to watch her interviews and how much fun she had in her day which was enough for me. one day i realized that there had to be more girls with her style and energy out there, so i went searching online for girls with similar aesthetics to kish to see if i could find anything, and boy did i.

it was the september after i turned 17. i was on the verge of escaping this god awful situationship and wiping my face with micellar water when i came across this redhead after searching for girls that had a style like kish. kilo kish is black, and this girl was the whitest one i’ve ever seen in my life, which intrigued me while thinking about how they could be stylistically similar. as i hit play and watched the words “kitty pryde” pan across my screen with the voice of a then 18 year old screaming “get out of my rooooom!!! blegh!!” through my speakers, i realized that i found exactly what i was looking for. months leading after that i got to know (and love) the goddess of the internet named kitty that would change my life forever. i didn’t hook onto her immediately after watching the okay cupid music video, with me only watching it once and only remembering it from time to time as weeks passed. it wasn’t until the month that i was turning 18 and found out that teen suicide (my all time favorite band) was touring and coming to my city. which fucking blew my mind!!! i went to their instagram to check on the band and see more about the members, with my eyes squinting in on a familiar face. long story short, kitty was in teen suicide. i rediscovered kitty. i loved kitty. i loved kitty so much. i saw teen suicide live. i met kitty. she hugged me. we took pics together. best moment of my life.

aside from the little fangirl moment i just had, one thing has consistently shocked me every time i rethink about it every once in a while. kitty pryde and kilo kish don’t know eachother.

kitty pryde was born and raised in daytona beach, which is also in florida. she moved to brooklyn in 2012 after blowing up from the success of okay cupid, which is the same year that kilo kish put out her first ep and started doing shows around brooklyn at the same time. they were both friends with members from odd future, they both were in the same conversations while talking about who ran tumblr girl rap, they even both performed with the same exact people!!! example being chippy nonstop.

so my question is… why aren’t they friends??? they have never once mentioned eachother in any interviews. they’ve never performed a show together. they don’t follow eachother on instagram. they’re the same age and grew up in the same state yet they’ve lived the majority of their careers just coexisting and not collaborating. this pisses me off you two are my plato and socrates with me being the student at the back of the class. i need you two to collab before i lose a limb. i can’t take the fact that they’re the freddy and jason of tumblr girl rap yet don’t even have shoutouts to one another. i’m going to sleep. i had a few more topics in store but i don’t wanna talk about them anymore… disculpe!

Music within Afrofuturism

Music for many is an outlet for artists to express their emotions, current views, and any message they deem important enough to convey to the world. Within Afrofuturism, Black artists use their talent to communicate their hopes and fears for Black future. Some songs strive to create an escape for listeners, using images and lyrics to create a utopian-like city for Black people. On the other end of the spectrum, artists also create art as a warning, letting listeners know to be careful of going down the wrong path.

One song that serves as a warning for a potentially bleak future is Tierra Whack’s Mumbo Jumbo. The lyrics of the songs are purposely hard to understand, which may confuse listeners when they first hear it. However, the message behind this is how Black voices tend to be silenced, where they may talk and fight all they want, yet nobody seems to understand or care. In addition, when pairing the song to the music video where Tierra Whack is getting surgery to place a permanent smile on her face in a post-apocalyptic world, the song gives an even deeper meaning.

Though Tierra Whack leaves the room smiling, the horrors in the world are still very present. And as hard as they may try to ignore the reality and pretend everything is okay, it will come creeping back towards us. The cockroach is a symbol of this, as even in the surgery room, an area that should be sterile and clean, a roach is depicted running around on the floor and on someone’s leg. Sweeping an issue under the rug does not get us anywhere, and the only way to solve a problem is addressing it at its root. When Whack first walked out into the world, she seemed genuinely happy, as if expecting the surgery to create real change. However, her first encounter with another person already terrifies her, and the slight shift in her eyes from hope to horror takes us back to the reality of the situation. A song that takes a more happy approach to imagining a Black future is Alright by Kendrick Lamar. Though the video itself is a bit dark and depicts some heavy images, Lamar wanted to instill hope into his listeners, letting them know that everything is going to be okay. One of the lyrics he writes, “if God got us then we gon be alright,” and it taps into many people’s belief in religion as a way to seek comfort. The song has even gone down to become its own rallying cry for many people during this time, serving as a much needed outlet for people.

One flight. He only had one more flight until he was back home in St. Louis.

He had facetimed Caroline again when they landed in Toronto and she assured him that nothing much had changed in the 45 minutes since he last talked to her. She’d dilated another centimeter, sitting at 6 and her contractions were getting closer together by the time he had to hang up the call and hop onto his second flight. By the end of his first layover, the first hour and 45 minutes, doctors were coming back in the room to check on her again, telling her she was 7 centimeters. He had to hang up, needing to board their flight to Chicago right after they told her that.

When they reached Chicago, the moment he and his Dad made it to their gate, he facetimed her again, asking for the newest update or whatever had taken place in the almost two hours it took to fly from Toronto to Chicago. She looked a little less happy go lucky than she had earlier, more than a few times, holding off on answering his question to breathe through a contraction. At one point, she had handed her phone off to her Mom, and Matt felt horrible when he could hear her whining in the background, talking to someone but unable to make out what she was saying.

“She’s right there at 10 centimeters, Matthew,” Mrs. Susan spoke softly, looking down at the camera. “Dr. Kendricks said they’re going to have her start pushing when she comes back into the room.”

“But she can’t,” he said, running his fingers through his hair. “I– we’re barely 20 minutes into our layover, we still have another hour and then it’s an hour flight to St. Louis.”

“Most first time pregnancies can involve pushing for up to three hours, Matthew,” she spoke calmly, nodding her head. “It’s okay, you’ll get here when you can.” She looked off camera and then back at him. “Hold on, here’s Caroline.”

He moved his face out of frame and leaned his head back against the wall he was sitting against, bumping his head against it twice as he kept his eyes closed, praying that he’d at least make it there in time.

“Matty?”

He brought his phone screen down, putting himself back in frame. “Yeah, Care,” he sighed, putting a smile on his face. “I’m here.”

She still looked tired, her face a little red as she was lying back, holding onto her phone. He knew she could read right through his fake smile and see the guilt he was trying to hide, she always could. “It’s fine–”

“It’s not fine, Care. I’m supposed to be there holding your hand and telling you that you’re doing great and you’re so strong–” he paused, leaning head head into his left hand that was propped up against his knee. “I don’t want to miss that. I’m supposed to be with you 100% of the time, remember?”

“You’re almost home, Matty,” she whispered, her eyes squinting slightly as she sighed and focused on her breathing. “Besides, I don’t see him coming out anytime before you land. You’ll be here.”

“Alright Caroline, we’re going to go ahead and start pushing,” the voice he’d come to know as Dr. Kendricks said, gaining Caroline’s attention. “You’ve got a great team here around you and we’re all going to make sure that you and baby boy here have a smooth and safe delivery, okay?”

Caroline nodded, looking back at Matt. “Will you stay on facetime with me?” She asked, he could see the worry and tears in her eyes.

“Of course, just let me grab my headphones,” he nodded, getting up off of the floor and jogging over to where his Dad was sitting, grabbing his headphones out of his bag. When he looked at his Dad, he just nodded his head and muted his mic. “They’re having her push, I’m going to be over there until we board.”

His Dad nodded and he jogged back over to the spot he had claimed and plugged his headphones in, putting them in his ears. Caroline still had the phone in her hand, but he could hear all of the talking around her as her eyes followed whoever was walking around the room. “Hey, can you hear me?”

“Mhhm,” she nodded, looking back at the screen. “They’re going to have me start pushing soon.”

“I know, and I wish I could be there to hold your hand, but until I have to board...I’m right here, okay?” He said, holding onto his mic.

He watched as her phone was handed off to his Mom, only seeing her on screen until she switched the camera around and brought Caroline back into view. Her bed was elevated at an angle, keeping her back up. He could see her knees since her legs were spread open and pushed back on either side of her, a position which looked uncomfortable in itself. He had zoned out whatever anyone was saying, just focusing on her and watching as she would tuck her chin into her chest like she’d learned in the birthing classes she told him about and the videos he looked up online so he knew what to do.

He was supposed to be there right now.

It was the same routine, she’d push and then rest back for a few moments, some time in between as Dr. Kendricks, the staff around her and her parents, including his Mom, all told her how good she was doing. And she was– she was doing great.

“Matt?”

“I’m here, I–I mean, I’m not...but I am,” Matt stumbled, zoning back in. “You’re doing great Care, and I’m so sorry I’m missing this. I– you’re so strong, Care. Like fucking wonder woman strong. You can do this, I believe in you, I love you. You’re an amazing woman and you’ll be an even more amazing Mom.”

He wasn’t sure if it was from the pushing itself or his words, but he could see the tears in her eyes as she turned to look at the phone. “I love you, now come home please.”

“I’m trying,” he whispered, crossing his arms against his chest as he leaned back, watching Dr. Kendricks instruct her to push again. “I swear, I’m trying.”
