Pls make a blurb about Reader forcing Patrick to help build a house for calico critters made with real wood and anything and this big man with big hands is just sewing tiny curtains, it sounds tew cute 🥹
It's not you who forces him but your baby girl Eleanor who doesn't like any of the houses displayed on the website. She has this particular idea about a princess looking three storey house with flowers and hearts, having provided Patrick with multiple sketches and thorough instructions on where the furtniture must be located.
"She's gonna be the death of me, I swear. Are you sure we can't find anything like this online?" Patrick mutters in partial annoyance, that is present mainly to find his distress, because - apart from tennis - he's not used to working with his hands at all.
You have a hard time focusing, unable to tear your eyes away from the typical dad stance - feet apart, balled fists resting on his hips - a belt with all the necessary tools ha going loosely around Patrick's hips. Damn, he looks really hot.
You rub his exposed arm, glad for the summer heat that made Patrick wear one of his sleeveless tops, and you thank god that Eleanor has currently gone to the local swimming pool with Lily and the Donaldsons. At least you don't have to control your primal urges.
"Oh, don't be so fussy babe. You're gonna nail it," you coo, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
The sight is a mix of both arousing and comical. Patrick's muscles flex as he cuts the wood planks with a hand saw, the motion reminding you of multiple different things. He's grunting and mumbling under his breath - Why did I agree to this? Goddamn, this is ridiculous. - eyes rolling onto the back of his head when he sees that one piece is smaller than the remaining three.
"Are you having any issues, darling?" you mock with a laugh from where you're sitting in the garden chair, legs crossed comfortably, glancing up from your book. His reaction makes you giggle.
Patrick shoots you a glance, brows furrowed, and a drop of sweat rolls down his cheek. "You wanna try it yourself, sweetheart?"
This is the peak dad performance in your eyes, with you lounging under the sun while your gorgeous husband looks absolutely stunning, sweat covered, with little insults leaving his mouth. He manages to get all the essential pieces before putting them all together, drilling screws into the wood to form the main box shape, and finally putting in the planks make for the storeys.
When the outline is finally done and painted all white, Patrick lets it dry outside and moves into the living now, now fighting with your sewing machine. Unfortunately, the little windows must have curtains.
"This is fucking devil's work. How do you even use that?" he's sitting there like a school boy about to cry over his math homework, completely lost.
You lean over him, your arms on either side of his head as you take one of the pink fabric squares. Patrick's breath hirches completely as you begin explaining the basics. "It's easy, just work slowly. First, you took the thread - yup, here - then just place it there, under the needle."
Your husband has a fucking hard time focusing on the instructions, lips parting hungrily as the soft inside of your arm brushes over his cheek. He really can't resist, pressing a few kisses to your soft skin, for which he earns a gentle slap on the back of his head.
"Focus," you command, earning a sigh in response. He really just wanted to kiss you, to feel you. "Foot on the pedal - good - it begins moving when you step on it. Just let the fabric run through the whole way, and be careful about your fingers. C'mon, try it."
It takes Patrick a few tries - okay, a bit more than just a few - but eventually, he ends up with four squares that resemble curtains at least a bit. That is, unfortunately, all he can deliver. Being a good wife, you do the rest for him, sewing little beddings for the beds, a table cloth and the two remaining curtains.
The rest of the afternoon consists of Patrick painting messy details on the wooden walls and bringing some boxes from your old home down from the attic - thank god you kept all of your Barbie house equipment - and attempting to fit the pieces into the wooden house. He steals a few mint leaves from the garden and makes tiny makeshift house flowers with them, knowing he'd have to swap those every two or three days, but whatever makes his darling daughter happy, right?
And when Eleanor comes back home, her hair damp and a thin layer of sunburn on her freckled cheeks, she can't contain her excitement.
"Daddy!" she squeaks, throwing her short arms around your husband's neck. He picks her up, literally blushing when she peppers his fave with sloppy baby kisses.
"D'you like it, princess?" he asks with excitement shining in his own eyes. He'd be really fucking disappointed if she didn't.
And she nods eagerly, immediately squirming to hop down and examine the small house thoroughly. "It's so cute daddy, they're all gonna fit rhere! The bed's too big but that's okay. They can have a sleepover!"
Later that day, when Eleanor is playing in her room and moving the animal figures into their new accomodation, you take Patrick in your arms. He seems to be exhausted, even though this whole process can't come even close to what he experiences on court, but he's more than happy to snuggle in your arms.
"She really loves it," you whispers, gently threading fingers through his curly hair. Patrick hums in response, digging his face deeper into your chest. "I'm so lucky to have such a handy husband at home. All for me."
At that, Patrick perks up, lifting himself on his elbows to hover over you, mischief glowing in his eyes. "Yeah?
You nod, humming as you begin rubbing his arms, gently squeezing the muscles that flex as Patrick's holds his weight above you. God, you could bite into that flesh. "Yeah. And he's really fucking hot as well."
"Is he?" Patrick echoes, leaning closer to nudge your nose with his own, chuckling at your smugness. You're so pretty.
And you nod again, now wrapping your arms around his shoulders to bring him in for a kiss. His caloused palms move under your shoulders to scoop you into him, fully settling between your legs and pushing you into the mattress. You're so warm and soft for him, a perfect pillow to rest on, cheeky and smug when you compliment him. He supposes that's good enough of a reward for his hard work.
But unfortunately, a high pitched daddy! fills the house before he could move further, and all the appetite is lost when Eleanor asks for yet another home made house.

SOMEWHERE IN AUSTRALIA, OCTOBER 1ST, 1989
THE SUN ROSE JUST LIKE EVERY DAY. Casting a soft glow throughout the day, especially in the quaint home of the Magnolias. The warmth spread amongst the terrain of all their trees. All was well as the birds chirped, flowers bloomed, and animals roamed. Just like any day for everyone in the country.
That was except for Ella Magnolia, the only child of the elder couple that owned a manor surrounded by lush trees. The girl had been on a picnic with her at the time boyfriend, on the very land that was in her name. The couple laughed and whispered into each other's ears as they lay under the shades that the trees cast.
The young blonde faced her boyfriend with a smile, "Thank you for doing this," she said softly, her cheeks flushed pink. Ella couldn't believe she got so lucky with her partner. He was everything and more.
As they sat in silence the two didn't notice a wave of gold sparkles that nestled with Ella. For a moment nothing was present until the blonde woman gasped suddenly. Looking down at her stomach, she screamed when she felt it begin to swell. The pain followed quickly, as she began with labored breathing.
Her boyfriend looked at her worried, "What's going on?" he called his hands gripping at now his very pregnant girlfriend who a minute ago—well wasn't.
Ella furrowed her eyebrows and held at her stomach, breathing through her mouth, "Help get me to my mum," she gasped as another pained contraction swelled amongst her body.
The boy did exactly that, picking her up bridal style, he rushed into the Magnolia Manor. All while keeping sure that Ella wasn't injured or hurt. Pushing the door open, he called for her parents in a frantic state.
Ella was grasping at anything while she writhed and screamed in pain, "Just put me on the ground please," she huffed, sweat now lining her entire body as she did her best to keep her breathing tame, "Mum!" she yelled in hopes the older woman would reach the room.
"Ella!" the elderly woman screamed, falling to her knees when she saw the state of her daughter, "My dear what happened, you didn't tell me you were pregnant!" she huffed as she pulled pillows behind her daughter's head and back.
Ella screamed as she felt another contraction, "I wasn't it just happened," she elongated her words as the pain just get on pulsing, "Mommy help me," she desperately grasped at her mother to help her.
The woman nodded, "Yes, honey, okay listen to me..." she started as she glanced at her daughter huffing and sweating.
Just as the son rose like any day, Ella had given birth to a little girl the same day. When the day started normally, it ended with a miracle that no one could've seen coming. After minutes of pushing and screaming, Eleanor Magnolia was born into the world once more.

IN THE PRESENT 2019
The Hargreeves stood all tired from the battle that had just occurred. All they wanted was to be back home safe where no more apocalypse followed. Yet here they were back in the Mansion, where Reginald Hargreeves claimed six other children were his.
Five who were already fed as anyone could be furrowed his eyebrows, glaring at the old man, "I'm sorry. What do you mean, your children?" he hissed stepping forward towards him, "That's not possible, old man."
Reginald didn't miss a beat, "Of course it is! I think I'd know, wouldn't I?" he replied watching as the Sparrows moved closer to the cluster of children he despised.
Klaus who couldn't stop glancing at the Asian man spoke up, "Everybody else can see Ben, right?" he asked pointing at the red-clad man.
New Ben glanced over at Klaus with disgust, "Cute hat, Sundance," he said and watched as the Seance tipped his hat with a smile.
Eight didn't know what to feel at the sight of the Asian boy. Just a few hours ago, she cried with him as he said his final goodbyes to her. If she really thought about it, she could still feel his tight hug around her. Now, who was this piece of shit with a smug frown?
"They call themselves the Umbrella Academy," Reginald began as his eyes glanced over each of the members, "A group of scheming, perfidious malcontents who accosted me in the fall of 1963, when I was away on business in Dallas. Be warned, they claim to be my spawn," he finished watching as confused looks appeared on each of their faces.
The blonde had a feeling something like this happen, boy was she glad she always thought ahead. She just hoped that there husband and siblings would be able to keep up.
Allison scoffed at the words from the old man, she was sick and tired of something new every time they appeared somewhere new. All because Five and Eight couldn't get their shit together, "Claim? Look, Five what the hell is going on?" she asked looking over at the troubled teen.
Five also couldn't know what was happening, he glanced over at his wife and notice she wasn't confused, "I don't know yet, but it's concerning."
The seemed leader of the Sparrow Academy looked at the new group, "Is he telling the truth?" he asked them seriously, it wasn't on his agenda to start a fight.
Vanya shook her head, "Not the part about us being perfidious," she replied looking at the dark-skinned man.
The Seance couldn't help himself, "No, we're amateur-fidious, at best," he replied with a grin, all directed to his siblings.
Number Seven rolled her eyes at the ex-drunkie, "But we are his children. This is our house," she replied looking towards the group, hoping to get them to believe them.
Eight rolled her eyes at the situation, "God help me," she mumbled and watched as Luther was mocked when he had decided to speak up. Granting the Sparrows to laugh at him, he usually always was the laughing stock for the Umbrellas too. This time no different.
But it seemed he didn't really mind when he looked over at a woman talking to him. He Attempted to flirt as he introduced himself to her. Jesus, this man falls for anyone who bats eyelashes at him, the blonde thought with a scoff under her breath.
"Okay none of you belong here," Allison then called out, looking at the seven in front of her.
Eight then decided to speak up, "Okay settle down, Rumor, obviously something is wrong here. And being hostile won't help defuse the situation." she said her eyes looking at each member wearily.
The blonde rose a brow when she heard noises coming from a floating cube? The Sparrows all laughed as if it had just spoken.
"You slay me, Chris," Ben spoke with a chuckle still looking at the Umbrellas.
Eight snorted at the word, "The fuck is slay me?" she asked allowed when the scarred man spoke.
Ben looked over at the blonde and bit his lip at the sight, "Princess, I'll be glad to show you," he replied a smirk growing on his face, taking a step towards her direction.
Eight rose a brow at the words. She couldn't believe it, why is it, everyone? She was no Marlyn Monroe for crying out loud, "I'm married dipshit," she said lifting her ring to him.
"I wasn't expecting company," a new voice said, catching the attention of all of them, "This is the best I could do on short—" Grace was cut off by the glitching of her voice, "—Short notice."
Diego's hostility significantly went down at the sight of the woman, "Mom," he said in a soft voice, missing the sight of his artificial mother.
A dark-haired girl scoffed, "Mom? She's a robot, you perv," she said watching as the odd scene played out.
Diego turned to her and glared, "It's not a robot," he said his brows furrowed.
"You don't get to call him that Hot Topic," Eight replied with an annoyed tone, she was already tired of this Sparrow Academy.
Ben chuckled at her little joke, "Or what?" he answered for his teammate.
As the blonde stepped forward, Luther put out an arm, "Come closer and find out," he replied before Eight could reply.
Vanya grabbed Eight's shoulder as well, "Luther, Eight, chill!" she replied trying to not cause a fight.
Of course, Mr. Number Two loved the thrill of a fight, "You think, I'm afraid?" he mocked stepping forward but the leader.
"Stand down, Ben," the dark-skinned man spoke as he could tell he was getting antsy.
Luther smiled at the sound, "Look at that! She's got a voice," he mocked once the man spoke up.
"How about a shove a Rubix cube up your ass?" Diego called looking at the Sparrows.
From her space, Eight noticed how the dark-haired girl spits something at Diego. Venom? She wondered, but then it was much less than that. While the situation outside began to increase, she watched in Diego's head that it went much more different. A dance battle? At least she was the better dancer. God did she hate this family, her plan better work.
As he continued to sweat into insanity, she cracked her fingers and neck, "Okay let's get this party started," she whispered.
"Look we just fought a literal army. Let's all just calm down, and let's talk," Vanya spoke trying to keep a fight from starting.
Eight leaned over to her husband, "Just preparing you for the future, but she's a pain in the ass," she whispered as she watched Klaus taunt new emo, Ben.
Her husband gave her a look, "What? Eight what are you talking about?" he asked now confused at his wife's crazy talk. Not remembering her briefing him on some plan she already had happened.
The blonde moved when Klaus was punched right in the face sending him flying, "Oh it's starting, love you, darling, remember that," she added leaning to give him a quick kiss, gripping his face tightly, "More than you'll ever know, Five Hargreeves," she finished leaning to give him one last kiss.
Then she ran off in a hurry, "Eight!" Five called as she left leaving him alone. What was that woman up to?
While the two brutes were off fighting each other, the rest of them had now a fight of their own. Diego is off fighting a cube and arguing about his hair. Five had now picked a fight with Ben, who was a little more talented than him in fighting. But he had bigger problems, where was his wife going?
The blonde calmly walked the halls of the mansion, looking for a certain man. She didn't have much time, so he had to find him quickly.
Before she could a pretty brunette appeared before her, "Leaving the party so soon? The name's Sloane."
Eight rose a brow as she tucked her hands into her pockets, "Sloane, I'm in a time crunch here, so let's get a move on here," she said while cracking her neck.
The woman glanced at the teen and nodded, "Aren't you a little young to be in the family?" she asked running towards the blonde for a punch.
But as usual, Eight was able to step side it, "Long story, Sloane," she replied taking out her hands from her pockets and catching another of her punch. Twisting her arm and kicking her in the stomach.
"I've got time," she huffed her hands glowing a white color as she threw something at the teen who didn't look worried.
Eight chuckled and disappeared from thin air, then behind the woman, "Gravity, that's a nice set of powers," she said making the woman yell and attempt to punch the teen.
The blonde went in front of her, "How are you doing that?" she growled.
"Don't worry about it, oh dear Sloane," she replied then letting her hands glow twitching her fingers as she made her energy surround Sloane, "Nice meeting you Sloane," then phasing her through the ground.
Sighing she continued walking to find the old man, here and there listening to the grunts of her siblings being bested at their own game.
And once more a new body appeared before her, "Hi pretty, miss me?" Ben's voice called seeing the blonde in a similar uniform as his.
Eight groaned and turned to the emo Ben, "Look I'm busy, can you sparrows fuck off," she huffed. Her eyes settled on a battle ax on display.
"Now, that's not nice..." he mumbled sending out a tentacle towards her.
Quickly she moved the battle ax from its stand and sliced the tentacle that was about to touch her, "I didn't consent to you touching me," the teen replied and send him flying to a different room.
In another part of the house, Five saved Allison from being stomped, "No problem," he replied getting up from the ground.
"Hey, short pants. What's up?" Jayme spoke she was curious about the second young teen in the Umbrellas. Bummer she didn't get to tumble with the blonde.
Five watched as she walked near, "Go help the others. I'll handle this one," he replied as Allison left the two.
"What are you, their mascot?" she asked with an amused tone.
Five just blinked behind her and punched her in the face, "More like their ringer," he replied watching from the floor.
Jayme was quick and spit her venom on his face, "Ugh!" he called trying to wipe it from his face. "Hey, gross, all right?" he started but then looked up, "The hell?" he whispered the sight catching his attention.
As his vision cleared from the venom, there stood Eight in a pretty wedding dress. Hair and make-up done up just for him, "Cinque mia cara, ci sposiamo?" her pretty voice spoke out. Why was she speaking Italian? He didn't care, maybe this is what she wanted to show him.
"Certo, tu sei l'amore della mia vita," he replied not missing a beat, his face relaxing at such sight. God did he miss the days they were in the Commission when he could dance with her in missions. Her youthful soft face with a smile.
"Voglio avere un bambino, Cinque," she said her hands holding a bouquet of white roses, a small warm soft glow emitting from her stomach.
The teen couldn't help but return the smile, "Te ne darò uno e di più, amore mio," he replied walking forward, placing a hand behind her head and pulling her into a deep kiss. The kiss was warm and welcoming, it felt like a dream. One of his hands placed on her stomach where he had seen the glow.
Jayme's face recoiled with disgust at the sight, "Ugh," she groaned watching the teen made out with thin air. His hands tenderly held nothing, "Are they all perverts?" she mumbled, then walking forward to his dazed state. Lifting her leg she gave him a harsh kick down the stairs. Watched as he rolled down the many flights of stairs.
It was then all the Umbrellas realized they weren't going to win, they couldn't win, not without Eight that this, "Where's Eight?" They all huffed as they were being beaten half to death.
Vanya was the only one that could help at that moment, powering up, she sent all of them flying towards all the wall, "I told you not to start a fight with us," she gasped tiredly looking at the bodies around them, "I won't hurt you but my sister will," she finished watched her bruised siblings all meet her in the living room.
The Sparrows all look at the petite woman in shock. How was someone that small able to create such an amount of energy? There should be no way to do it, but Marcus the leader already wanted to find out.
"And for your sake, I wouldn't," the snobby voice of Reginald spoke. All the people in the room gasped when he walked in. The sight in his arms caused Five's eyes to widen, he couldn't help but start to shake in anger at the sight. This couldn't be real, no—she was invincible. In the arms of the older man, a bloodied wound to the heart was Eight Hargreeves, "She won't be hurting anyone now."
Five stepped forward eyes full of rage, "What did you old man!" he yelled, "What did you do to her?!" he desperately cried, but Diego and Klaus did their best to hold the teen, his eyes beginning to sting at the sight. There had been only one other time he felt this type of pain and it was when his son had died. Now that the person he swore to love forever was gone, he didn't know how to hold back the need to kill everyone in the room.
"You said back in 1963 she had been my favorite with extraordinary ability," the old man began eyes looking down at dead Eight in his arms, "I don't want someone like that interfering with the plans of the future. So what better way to get rid of the problem than killing her?" he said his arms letting go of the teen in his hands.
Instantly Five blinked to grab her into his arms, holding her close to his chest. Tears brimmed his eyes as he looked at her face. Eyes closed to the world forever, the body already loosing it's heat.
Luther wheezed holding his ribs, "Five we have to go," he said grabbing Eight from his arms. They didn't have the energy or power anymore to fight the Sparrows. Not with one of their own no longer living.
Five didn't want to believe it. There is no way Reginald a man with no ability was able to kill his wife. The woman who was partially responsible for an ending of an apocalypse. The only person who was able to calm Vanya long enough to shut her down twice. The mother of his only son, and was there in his last moments when his powers were too much.
Eight Hargreeves was much stronger than an old man with a knife. He didn't want to believe it. Making their way to a nearby park, he didn't know what to do. This had to be apart of her plan...right? There was no way she would let herself die if it was for nothing, she wouldn't leave him behind alone.
All the Hargreeves didn't know what to do. Not only had they just gotten their asses handed, but lost one of their biggest assets to a knife. Now all they could do was sit around and watch the teen not breathe, or speak.
"I'm not going to lie, I miss not hearing her call me Donkey Kong or any name," Luther started, shaking his head, and looking at the peaceful face of his dead sister.
Klaus nodded while cracking his back on the wooden table, "I miss our terrible dates, cross-country trips, and partying till drunk," he mumbled the odd memories sticking to their heads.
Diego looked at the teen on the ground, not being able to say much. Just a few days ago, she hadn't had her memory. And he had seduced her just to get in her pants. Now she was dead from a knife wound from their father. What the fuck?
While Allison was never close with the teen girl, her heart churned at the sight. She would never hear her snarky remarks again. Or watch her make out with Five oddly enough. And worst of all her power was lost to no one.
The Hargreeves all fell silent, in respect to the blonde woman who oddly enough no one was questioning. I mean if you saw a woman on the ground, bloody wound on her heart, not moving. You'd question if they were dead right?
It was a small crackle of electricity that got them all to snap out of their trance. A portal of orange crackled opened and spewed a scrawny boy out, "Jesus big jumps are always messy," he mumbled then straightened out his jean jacket when he noticed the group, "great she was right."
Allison was the first to speak when she noticed the teen have abilities, "I'm sorry but who are you?" she asked looking at the man who was struggling to find something in his pocket.
The boy ran a hand through his dark wavy hair, "Chris Fitzgerald, pleasure—" he paused to look down at his sheet, then at her "—Allison."
He then looked around and noticed Eight's state, he clicked his tongue and walked over to her body. He began running his hands over her jacket looking for something.
"Hey get your hands off my wife," Five hissed blinking to halt Chris' wrist.
The boy looked over at Five with a grin, "Ah so you're Five, great to meet you, but we have no time," he replied and used his other hand to grab a piece of paper from her skirt pocket.
Getting up he looked at the paper reading it through before it ignited itself on fire, leaving him with nothing, "Okay," he whistled clapping his hands, "let me catch you guys up, your father obviously adopted others instead of you. Changing the timeline..." he started listing things off his finger.
"I'm sorry but my sister is literally dead on the floor and you're telling us what to do?" Vanya asked a little ticked that some random boy things he could tell them what to do.
Chris snapped his fingers, "Eight is undoubtedly dead you're right, but I'm not telling you what to do, she's telling you what to do," he replied pointing at the dead blonde.
Five got up from the floor confused, "What do you mean she's doing this?"
Chris scratched the back of his neck, "Well I can't exactly talk about this here, how about this let's get a place that is low key and we talk from there."
Klaus rose his hand, "Oh, I know a place I swear!" he called and walked over to the very good-looking boy and whispered something.
Chris nodded, "Okay great, I'll meet you there," he replied leaning down once more and removing a small thin bracelet and ring from her hand, "I think these belong to you," Chris then said handing the small trinkets to Five, "I'm sorry for your loss," was all he said and disappeared with Eight in his arms.
The Hargreeves all looked down at the spot where Eight just was. Now it was like she was never there. It had all moved too fast, not even a chance to say goodbye.
Five gripped the bracelet and ring in his hand tightly. It all seemed so sudden, she was there in his arms just a few minutes ago, but now she was gone and dead. Was he cursed to never have anything good in his life?

Chris huffed as he buried the woman in the grassy grounds of the Magnolia Manor, "Jesus Eight, couldn't have asked for a less hot place, I'm dying here," he wheezed finishing up shoveling the soft dirt, "Let's hope this lady you want us to find actually helps, sis..." he mumbled looking down at a piece of paper in his pocket.
He then leaned down and smiled at the dirt, "You did good Eight, but it's alright now. You can rest now, we'll fix everything, with your help of course."
He placed a kiss on the sunflower and placed it on the dirt, "Throw a rager wherever you are," he finished, then disappeared with a crack in the air.
Then he appeared back in the Hotel Obsidian, "Ah nice choice Klaus," the boy said, leaning over the table and grabbing a piece of bacon.
The Seance smiled and nodded, "Grazie!"
Five glared at the younger boy, "Where did you go Chris?" he hissed still not liking that his wife trusted this boy instead of him.
The boy shrugged, "Just tying up loose ends," he started taking another bite of his bacon, "We need to go on a road trip," he added looking at him with a dimpled smile.
Five rolled his eyes, "No."
Diego then looked over at the boy, "Hey did Eight tell you anything about me having a kid?" he asked him.
Christ choked on his bacon, "How many women did you screw? Eight and now some other woman?"
The man looked over at Chris with a snarl, "Shut up," he said through gritted teeth. Doing his best to ignore Five's glare, they had literally gotten into a fight about this before getting to 2019.
"Where's Luther?" A new voice came in, catching the attention of everyone.
Diego picked up his cup of coffee, "Who cares? Probobaly out for..." he paused when he noticed Vanya's short hair, "A run."
Klaus hummed from a sip, "Love the haircut," he complimented.
Chris nodded stealing more bacon, "Ditto," he added with a thumbs up.
Vanya smiled at the compliment, a blush lighting his cheeks from the attractive boy telling him to. "So I, uh, talked to Marcus last night," she then said.
Diego looked over at her and rose his brows, "Wait, what? You talked with the enemy? By yourself?" he asked looking her over with a worried glance.
She nodded, "Well someone had to do something..." she replied equally as quickly.
The wavy-haired boy hummed, "I could see why Eight liked you," he then said crunching on his food.
"Who elected you Vanya?" Diego then said ignoring the boy who just seemed to be a part of the family.
He paused before replying looking at his brother, "It's, uh, Viktor," he replied nervously.
Diego furrowed his eyebrows, "Who's Viktor?"
Chris snorted, "God what did Eight see in you? Or Lila, you're stupid," he pointed his bacon towards the skinny man, "He's Viktor," he replied.
Viktor nodded and smiled at the acceptance of the new boy, "It's who I've always been," he replied honestly. He began to grow nervous when no one else added anything, "Uh, is that an issue for anyone?"
"Nah, I'm good with it," he replied quickly not wanting to be berated by the handsome boy beside him.
Klaus shoved food in his mouth, "Yeah, me too, cool," he added.
Five as depressed and stressed as he was gave his brother a slight smile, "Truly happy for you, Viktor. Eight would've been ecstatic for you," he said thinking his wife was all for the pride shit.
Chris nodded, "She probably would have bought you a whole new wardrobe to celebrate," he added with a laugh remembering the number of times that girl went shopping for others, in his time.
The time traveler frowned at the words. It had been less than a few hours since his wife was claimed as dead. He had seen her bleed out before him, all because of Reginald. The old man was afraid of what she could do. Now, all that nagged his brain was her death and the sharp little voice of this boy Chris. Claiming he left her plan to him, out of all people.
He sighed and looked instead towards Viktor, "Last time I checked, you don't speak for this family," he paused to look at Chris, "Even the new ones."
Viktor was annoyed at their reaction, "Okay, well, it's fine, okay?" he began while shoving himself on a chair with his brothers, "Marcus totally gets it. He doesn't want a war any more than we do."
Diego sputtered at the words, "What are you talking about? He tried to homicide us! Not to add they killed Eleanor our sister!?" he said raising his voice.
"So did Lila, and you had a kid with her," Klaus cut in then gasped, "Oh god didn't you screw Ellie too? What if she died pregnant?" he said shoving another piece of food into his mouth.
Diego clenched his jaw at the memory, "Not the point, We don't know anything about El," he mumbled the last part.
Viktor knew it was a soft spot to talk about the odd blonde so he didn't speak of her, "Look we made a deal. He's gonna give back Five's briefcase, then we're gonna get out of the timeline. We're gonna meet later today for the, uh, handover."
Klaus couldn't help but moan at the news, "Oh, thank god!" he replied.
"That's a rookie move, Dude is playing you," Diego replied shaking his head at his brother's attempt to get them back.
Chris snorted as he ate his bacon, "Or maybe he's not and does want to give back the briefcase," the younger boy added pointing his bacon at the men at the table.
Diego scoffed at the new kid, "You shut up, the only reason you're still here is because of Eleanor," he finished with a roll of his eyes, "But maybe we can use this. And we turn it back on them, and then we wipe them the hell out."
"We saw how well that turned out for you the first time," The 60's kid spoke up, "You got one dead and the rest of you ate shit."
Klaus couldn't help but laugh at the words, "I could see why Ellie liked you," he said taking a sip of his tea, the curly-haired boy just nodded with a small smirk.
Viktor sighed, "Look you aren't going to do anything today," he told his siblings and Chris.
"Except bond with your spawn," Klaus and Chris chorused looking back at each other and high-fiving.
The short-haired man glared at the two, "Alleged Spawn," he hissed not missing the scrutinizing glance from Five. He had every right to judge, so while he claimed to be friends with Lila back in the '60s not only did he nail Eleanor while her memories were gone but the evil Handler's daughter as well.
Before anyone else could say anything, Viktor jumped into the conversation, "I will get the briefcase, and then we will all go back and fix the timeline."
Five was sick of all of it, he gripped his mimosa back in hand and scoffed, "Hey, we're not going anywhere! This is a perfectly acceptable timeline," he finished, not wanting yet having time to grieve the quick death of his wife.
Viktor snapped his head over to the teen, "Yeah, why don't you tell that to Allison, who's upstairs grieving her daughter, who doesn't even exist here!" he exclaimed.
At this the time traveler rolled his eyes, "You're telling me to leave this timeline? My wife died here from our so-called father," he started now gripping his cup a little tighter, "I've held my own dead son in my hands, so don't tell me what I'm doing," he hissed finally.
They all fell silent at the mention of some of the horrible things Five has gone through. Diego cleared his throat to move the attention elsewhere, "We've been replaced by a bunch of blobs and cubes and shit!"
"News flash, geniuses! It's not about us. Take a look around. If you hadn't noticed, there's no doomsday. There's no apocalypse. The sun shining. Birds are doing whatever the hell birds do. That's all that matters, we're done messing with time. And I'm officially retired," he finished and walked off grabbing his mimosa.
Klaus and Chris gave each other a look and scrambled off the table. Taking off to try and catch Five before he did anything stupid. As they made their way toward the old man trapped in a teen's body, the lights all flickered in the hotel.
"Now remember I did tell you that we have things to do Five," Chris then said lifting a hand to pick out more crispy Bacon from the trays.
The teen picking food into his plate didn't pause, "Did you hit your head when coming from the '60 Chris? Or did you not hear I'm retired?" he asked.
Klaus clicked his tongue, "No Little Five he means..." he paused to look at Chris who shrugged, "Take a little...road trip."
"What are you talking about?" Five asked continuing to pack his plate.
Klaus floated around the food trays, "I'm talking about a sojourn to the countryside," he said, "and Chris—"
"—Australian country," The boy mouthed with food in his mouth, "just imagine it, wind in the hair, tourist areas, kangaroos, and dangerous Australian animals."
The Seance giggled a the words, "Oh, yeah that sounds fun, how about it? Huh?" the long-haired man taunted shoving his elbow towards the teen.
"Call it a favor, I'll tell you everything your wife did in the '60s," he tried to bribe and didn't miss the pause that was in his actions.
Five sighed and paused completely, "Okay, I'll bite, why do you both suddenly need me?"
Chris nudged Klaus with his arm, leaning over, "Your turn," he whispered even tho Five clearly heard him.
"Because you said...you said you're retired, and that's what retired people do," he started, looking at Chris who gave him a thumbs up, "And don't you deserve some fun?"
Before anything else could be said, Five paused to look at the fish tank, "There are no lobsters," he mumbled to himself, brows furrowing at sight.
Chris rose a brow at snapped his neck towards the sight, "Oh no..." he had an idea of what was happening, but he decided to stay quiet for now.
"What?" Klaus said not hearing the young boy beside him.
"There were three lobsters in that tank a minute ago," he pointed out toward the fish tank, he was beginning to grow suspicious, and Chris's sudden silence didn't help all that much.
The Seance shrugged, "Yeah, well, you know, maybe Chef blended 'em into a morning smoothie," he gathered not really getting what he was at.
Five rolled his eyes, "You are an idiot," he paused to look at Chris, "I don't know about you yet, but I'm in."
Klaus and Chris turned and high-fived once more, "Yes!" they cried.
Tumblr media
It wasn't long before Chris Fitzgerald did what he knew best. Borrowing is what he liked to call it. The three sat in the older-looking car that the young boy was able to snag.
"Boy am I glad we're doing my trip first," Chris called with a smile, hand on the steering. Turning to smile at Five who still has a permanent flat face.
Five felt eyes on him, so he turned his head to see Chris, "Why are you looking at me like that," he asked in an annoyed tone.
The boy smiled a little more, "Just glad to spend some time with my sister's husband," he replied, "I know she's not really my sister, but for almost a year we acted as if we were," he rambled.
"Yeah, I know," Five replied eyes closed feeling the warm sun on his face, "she mentioned you."
Chris didn't reply but just nodded and turned back to the road. This would be a trip for sure, the person they were meeting wasn't a fan of others. At least that's what he gathered from the last time he stalked them.
"Who are we meeting anyway?" Klaus then asked breaking the silence.
Looking at the Seance through the rearview mirror, he sighed, "Oh it's going to be someone interesting I'll tell you that," was all the young boy said.
Five could only sigh and throw his head against the seat, "You better hope so, or I'll kill you," the time traveler said.
Chris could only snort, "I'll love to see you try," the young boy said with a laugh.
Klaus then leaned forward from the back seat, "Hey you said you would tell us everything Ellie, did back in the good old days," he asked.
The boy clicked his tongue and nodded, "I did say that, well what do you want to know?"
"What was she like?" Five simply asked.
Chris focused on the long road ahead and sighed, "Well, Eight was one of a kind, I don't need to tell you that. She attracted trouble that's the type of person she was, always picking fights with everyone. All too protect me and my friends," he started remembering the days of the girl, "Now that I mention it, she totally changed when her memory came back..." he paused to really think about it, "Like she's been through some shit."
With his eyes closed Five hummed, "You have no idea," he replied back.
"Anyway, she was a hell of a driver, dad was always worried when she went out on dates—" he paused to cringe remembering she had been married, "—Sorry, but she didn't know you existed, and she became a pretty popular girl in town," the boy added with a shrug.
"Eight's popular everywhere and anywhere she goes," Five mumbled knowing his wife was a social butterfly.
Chris smiled softly at the thought, "My best friend from the sixties loved to snoop in on her dates," he continued, "Now that I think about it her sub-conscience definitely remembered you," he said looking over at Five who still had his eyes closed, "Every one of her boyfriends resembled you," he finished raising a brow and reaching to scratch the side of his face.
From the back the two didn't miss the snort that came from Klaus, "Diego didn't fit into that picture," the man said laughing to himself, remembering his horrid hair of the '60s.
The car then fell silent for a while, as Chris continued to drive idly on the vast road. Growing more and more nervous as he had to meet someone new. The scenery passing by blurs, not one of the passengers questioning their location.
Until the Seance that is, "Hey didn't you say we had to be in Australia?" the sleepy man asked, slurping on a soda that he had bought before the trip.
The driver suddenly smiled, "I sure did," he said pausing, "let's do it."
At this Five snapped his eyes opened and looked ahead. The familiar portal that Eight use to open for quick travel, instead of her purple-reddish hues. It was a strong orange, probably because it was Chris' ability. The energy twirled as he stepped on the gas to make it quicker, "Fuuuuck!" he dragged out, grabbing tightly onto the handle beside his head.
"Whee!" Yelled Klaus when he saw the pretty colors.
As the trio all screamed for different reasons, as the world twirled for a second, then everything was different. Chris then swerved his car to the left lane with a smile on his face.
"God I love doing that," the boy said with a laugh as the greenery came into view, "Well we're almost there so prepare yourselves."
Five let go of the handle and scoffed, "Nothing scares me, kid, not even whoever we're meeting," he replied his ego a little bruised after being slightly scared.
Chris didn't look over at Five, but this person was going to be quite the statement. After all Eight knew who she was asking for. He wouldn't let her die for anything, even if it was her plan to die, he wouldn't let be for nothing. The world had lost brilliance they had no idea they had. And the Sparrows would know why she was feared, even if she wasn't there.
It was then that the group neared a large warehouse. Large buff men spread the entire front. Some neck deep into car engines, while others worked on motorcycles.
"Jesus Chrisy, are you taking us to get us killed?" Klaus asked, eyes wide looking at the bearded tall men.
All capable of snapping each of the powered men. Some of them paused in their work to look over at the slow-driving car. Klaus smiled and waving through the window.
"Is this a biker gang?" Five asked as he looked at the symbol on most of their uniform. Their tattoos peeked out from underneath. Just who exactly were they meeting?
Putting the car in park, Chris sighed and got out. Digging through his pocket he put on sunglasses to avoid squinting. Five the other two followed in his footsteps as moved deeper into the mechanics building.
Mengie's Bike and Auto Repair was the name of the location. The trio walked forward inside, where more men had cars up on lifts and equally working on them.
"Hey you lookin' for something?" a heavy accent called at the three.
Chris dipped his glasses to the top of his nose, "Yes actually," he began shifting to look for a paper in his pocket, "I'm looking for someone called Phoenix?" he asked looking at the paper and then at him.
The man only smirked and nodded, "They're out back, you won't miss 'em," he finished pointing out to the very back of the building."
Before Five could ask who it was, the man had walked away to a tool cart near an old running car.
Chris only shrugged and followed the man's direction. Walking all the way back, the sun not hitting as harshly as a large thin tarp hung over the back of the building. Looked around to see rows of motorcycles in good condition. Shiny, with intricate designs.
"Hello~" Klaus called out hoping to hear anyone.
Five rolled his eyes and he looked ahead to see no one. They were probably sent this way to kill them. As if. He laughed inwardly. They wouldn't be able to lay a hand on them even if they tried.
For a moment he let his eyes wander, turning his head to the side. That's when he paused a saw a figure. A slim tall figure that seemed too feminine to be a man. Long dark purple pin straight hair framed back. His eyes move along to her thighs and legs that straddled a stool, her arms reaching forward as she sat up straight.
Walking closer his brows rose as he could see tattoos littering her arms. The teen made his way around the young figure, and couldn't help but freeze at the sight.
"Eight?" he questioned confused the sight of his wife's face threw him off. Just this version wore round red glasses around her eyes. As he watched her fingers nimbly move clay around to form a face.
The teen shook her head, "Sorry to disappoint lad, but I'm no number," she replied which was even weirder, her accent wasn't like Eight's but instead, it was Australian.
Five couldn't comprehend whatever was happening, "How is this possible?" he whispered but didn't make a motion to get closer to the woman who moved clay under her fingers.
Her hands paused her work as she sighed, "I don't know what you are talking about, but you better get talking soon," she said and crossed her arms.

Tumblr media
A/N: HELLOO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!! First of all MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
How are you guys?!
Anyway, I know last chapter was pretty intense and so full of words, but I hope you enjoyed it!
Here is part 4 of The World's Greatest Archer!
Enjoy ❤️.
Sending so much love to each one of you to wherever you are ❤️.
-
Summary: Y/N and Kate have dinner with Eleanor and Jack. Then Y/N has to save Kate's and Clint's ass from the tracksuits.
Warnings: none.
Word count: 8736 words.
-
"Y/N drop it. I’m not gonna show my Hawkeye gadgets collection to you."
"Oh c’mon! I need anything I can gather to mock him!" Y/N pressed after they exited the subway, patting the archer’s arm pleadingly.
"No, because I know what you’re trying to do."
"Enlighten me then. What am I trying to do?" Y/N smirked mischievously as Kate rolled her eyes and pushed on the girl’s shoulder softly, making her falter a bit in her steps.
"You want to come into my room to see your poster." Kate started with an accusatory tone, a small lilt of fond exasperation also clear in her voice, as she stared Y/N down and watched as she put a clearly fake innocent face on with a big, bright smile adorning her beautiful features. They fell back into step, walking side by side, their arms brushing softly from time to time, and both shivered when the slightest of touches of their hands between their bodies triggered hard goosebumps down their spines and made electricity invade every cell of their bodies deliciously, also warming them up just a bit from the cold of the night as snow fell down the streets, in front of them, on their heads and settling on their hair softly, wrapping the city in a wonderfully, fairy white blanket. They thanked the cold so they could cover their blushes up on their cheeks and pretend it was due to the cold wind hitting their skin, when in fact it was their gay panic transforming them in blushing, flushing messes as they couldn’t even function properly with just a small brush of a hand on their own, "I’m not gonna show it to you. It’s embarrassing now that I actually know you."
"I don’t think it’s embarrassing Kate! Me falling on my ass right in front of my date during my first date ever is embarrassing. My mom talking freely about her sex life with me to mess up with me is extremely embarrassing. Walking in on Hulk after taking a bath and seeing him naked is embarrassing, especially when you had to fight alongside him. I can keep listing all the things that are embarrassing but you having a giant poster of me in you room is not embarrassing. It’s everything but embarrassing. It’s cute, adorable, pretty badass."
"Did you really see the Hulk naked?" Kate asked with wide eyes and shivered alongside Y/N after she nodded at her in affirmation, "okay, you made some pretty solid points, but it’s still embarrassing to me. Besides, we would be really lucky if my mom will let us go to the bathroom, let alone let us chill in my bedroom. She will be in her investigator, protective mom mood tonight."
"It’s understandable. She wants to know you’re safe. I will assure her that as long as you are with me, you will be safe." Y/N stated resolutely as she met Kate’s eyes and smiled at her, the young archer reciprocating it right after and bumped their shoulders together in appreciation.
"Okay, remember, do not meet her eyes when she scrutinizes you, she will read your mind and discover all your secrets in a second." Kate stated seriously after they entered her mom’s building and waited patiently for the elevator to arrive.
"Well that’s impressive, especially since I can read minds too. Does your mom’s eyes glow like mine?" Y/N joked in a light tone and watched as Kate pressed the button for the penthouse floor with a snort.
"Only when she’s angry. That’s not a good sight to witness." Kate cracked a joke herself and felt pride swell in her chest at the cute giggle the Y/E/C girl emitted right after.
"Let me guess, you witnessed it too many times to count."
"Yeah, I like to get on her nerves." Kate admitted with a mix of pride and shyness right before the elevator’s doors opened, "after you."
"Such a gentlewoman." Y/N joked some more to cover up the light blush on her cheeks as her stomach flipped over itself at the chivalrous gesture, doing it again when Kate took her coat from her and hung it on the coat-rack.
"Hey mom."
"Honey, come here." Y/N watched with fondness swimming into her Y/E/C eyes as the two hugged and felt a tight grip around her heart thinking about how much she missed her mom. "Y/N."
"Hi, miss B-" Y/N started but she stopped herself mid-sentence when Eleanor stared at her pointedly, "Eleanor." They shared a quick hug before pulling away gently.
"Dinner will be ready in 20 minutes or so. Why don’t you go chill a bit in your room? Oh and don’t forget to show her around." Y/N tried with all her might to keep her wide grin at bay and prevent it to broaden as she looked at Eleanor smiling at them both genuinely before throwing a small glance in Kate’s direction, who was flushing furiously beside them.
"If Kate is up to it, I would love that."
Kate rolled her eyes at the girl stressing the word ‘love’ but sighed in relief when her mom didn’t pick it up and looked at her in a mix of reprimand and expectation, "follow me then Y/N!"
"Great! I’ll call you when dinner is ready!"
"Okay mom, thank you!" Kate yelled over her shoulder as she pushed Y/N up the stairs and smiled widely at her before turning around and heard the girl chuckle under her breath, "do not say a word when we’ll get to my room. Or I’m shutting you up with a punch."
Kate’s stomach exploded into millions of butterflies at Y/N’s giggles increasing in volume and had to retrieve her hand away from her lower back to stop herself from caressing it affectionately, "not even to comment how cute it is that you have me on your wall?"
"Y/N, I’m seriously thinking about skipping my room in this house tour."
"Oh please no! For all I care, despite this huge house is amazing, I only want to see your bedroom." Kate groaned in fond frustration and exasperation and quickly showed Y/N around, smiling widely at the awe expression never leaving Y/N’s features before sighing out loud in anticipation when they arrived outside the last room of the house Kate needed to show to Y/N.
"Not. A. Word." Kate gritted out before moving to the side and inviting Y/N into the room, who had a shit eating grin on her features instead.
"You worry too much Bi-holy shit!" Y/N stopped mid-sentence to exclaim with wide eyes and her mouth hanging open when her eyes immediately fell on the poster in the room.
"Hey! I told you to not say anything!" Kate whined childishly as she stomped her feet on the ground with a big pout in her lips and her arms crossed under her chest.
"Well excuse me, it was well due that exclamation!" Y/N smiled brightly as her eyes stayed fixated on the poster, hearing Kate sigh some more as she closed the door, the faint click of the door closing filling the silence in the room, before she approached her and stopped right beside her, bumping their shoulders together purposefully. "This is huge."
"Can you focus on anything else please?"
"Oh like that picture of Clint you have on that cork board?" Y/N countered back as she took her eyes off the poster and met Kate’s eyes with a big, smug smirk.
Kate groaned out loud and hid her flushing face into her hands, "I hate you." The archer’s voice came out muffled but still intelligible enough for Y/N, who laughed heartily at the cute and adorable reaction.
"Don’t worry." Y/N spoke up after her giggles subsided and patted the archer’s back softly, making her remove her hands from her face and met her intoxicating blue eyes with a reassuring grin, "your secret is safe with me."
"I don’t even know what’s more embarrassing now."
"Like I said before, it’s not embarrassing. Maybe that Clint picture can be a bit shocking, but this poster it’s so fucking cool!"
"You’re just saying this because you are in it." Kate rolled her eyes in fond annoyance and exasperation and pushed on Y/N’s shoulder gently.
"No, I’m not, I swear! I didn’t know I looked that good while sweaty and wore out."
"You are always looking good." Kate widened her eyes and clamped her mouth shut with her hands after that, something that made Y/N cackle up in amusement, "shit, I said it out loud, didn’t I?"
"Yep." Y/N affirmed with a wide smile, trying to act cool while her insides pretty much exploded at the admission, as she stressed the ‘o’ and watched in delight as an hard blush appeared on the archer’s face and it made her smile to widen ten sizes, "thanks. You also always look amazing Kate."
Y/N watched as Kate’s red hue deepened instantly at her truthful words spoken with a soft tone and walked closer to her, "why is it hot all of a sudden? Do you feel hot too? Should I put the air conditioning on?" Kate rattled off quickly as she fanned her scorching red face while adamantly avoiding the girl’s gaze she was trying to make Kate to meet.
"No Kate. Calm down, you are starting to resemble a tomato." Y/N gingerly put her hand on Kate’s back and caressed it gently, feeling the archer’s muscles stiffening under her touch, but also noticing how defined they were but restrained herself to let her hand wander around to feel them thoroughly, before they relaxed at her small, comforting circles. "Okay, that’s good." Y/N commented as she noticed the red blush was starting to subside and decided to give some mercy to the black haired beauty by changing their conversation subject, "can we talk about that cute little bow?"
Kate’s face erupted in a wide grin at the question and her eyes instantly fell on that aforementioned item hung on the wall, "it was my first bow. My mom wasn’t so happy to buy it and she wasn’t sure it was a good, safe and appropriate sport for a little girl but she quickly changed her mind when I started winning trophies and medals, understanding I was born to do that." Y/N smiled warmly at the archer and went to open her mouth to reply to Kate’s story but she was stopped in her tracks by a soft, faint knock on the door, "come in!"
A second later the door opened and Eleanor’s face appeared with a big smile, "dinner’s ready girls!"
-
It was a surprisingly quite and comfortable dinner. Both girls were expecting Eleanor to ask a lot of questions but she just tried to know Y/N better with questions about herself, not getting too much deeper into her personal life. "So Y/N, any significant other in your life?"
"Mom!"
"What? It’s just a simple question." Kate rolled her eyes at her mother’s innocent comeback and watched as she took a sip of her wine with her eyes fixated on Y/N, who was totally unaffected by the question.
"No, I dated a few people but those were just flings. I had been too busy to actually date someone, with y’know the blip and the whole fighting Thanos thing." Y/N explained calmly as she sipped gingerly at her water before placing it back on the table.
"Oh yeah!" Kate interjected with bright eyes and turned towards Y/N excitedly.
"Thank you by the way." Jack butted in with a grateful smile and lifted his glass up to Y/N, who smiled politely at him and nodded softly.
"Don’t mention it." Y/N continued to smile at the man before settling her eyes on Eleanor once again and broadened her grin as she leaned her clasped hands on the table and kept going, "so yeah, I had been distracted by few things to consider getting myself into the dating area seriously."
"But it must be a little lonely, isn’t it?" Eleanor sported a sad expression, a gesture that screamed ‘motherly’ all over and dusted a sense of longing into her chest. She missed her mom like crazy.
"Okay mom, enough. Let’s change the subject, can we? Jack the dinner was wonderful."
Y/N turned her head gently towards Kate and lifted imperceptibly her eyebrow at her after hearing her totally too sweet tone and tried to understand where she was going with this but the archer kept staring at Jack head on, "thank you darling. The secret for a good risotto is to agitate with love."
"Wow, you cook, you are rich, you care for my mom. You are almost too good to be true." Kate smiled brightly at the man, a small bite hiding behind her tone that only Y/N could detect but she kept a poker face on and listened silently and intently to the conversation. "So what’s with all these swords, you fence?"
"I dabble."
"So why don’t we take out one of these babies and we have some fun?"
"Well-"
Jack was stopped mid-sentence by Eleanor who shook her head in determination, "no, please no. We had enough drama this past week. I want to enjoy a normal, quiet dinner."
"Perhaps your mother’s right." Jack smiled wistfully at Kate as she patted Eleanor’s hand gently with a loving grin.
"Oh c’mon, why not?" Y/N wanted to laugh at the girl’s stubbornness, but she was also intrigued as to why she was so adamant to fence with Jack.
"I’m convinced."
"Oh please, she only said ‘why not?’. That’s not a valid argument. It’s not even an argument." Eleanor shook her head in disappointment at her fiancée when he just smiled guiltily at her.
"And yet." Kate smiled when Jack excused to take his equipment and met her mother’s unamused gaze, "c’mon, it could be fun."
They all sat up from the table when Jack returned and gave Kate her equipment before helping him in moving the table out of the way, "she can be so stubborn sometimes."
"Yeah, but I prefer the term eager." Y/N joked with a giggle and watched as Kate finished suiting up and waited for Jack to get in position.
"Honey, be careful." Eleanor said as she crossed her arms and leaned her back on the wall with Y/N leaning on her shoulder on the doorstep of the living room with her crossed arms.
"When am I not careful, mom?" Y/N chastised herself for finding Kate slipping the protective mask on with just an imperceptible tilt of her head and smiled in amusement instead when she heard Eleanor’s witty comeback.
"I was actually talking to Jack."
Y/N watched mesmerized at how good Kate actually was, her body moving gracefully with precise jabs, "stop letting me win Jack!" That made Y/N furrow her eyebrows at that, detecting a clear lie into Jack’s tone when he affirmed the opposite.
"Kate!" Y/N gasped in shock and got ready to stop her friend with her magic as her hands surged forward in position and her eyes glowed blue when Kate lunged forward with her sword and almost hit Jack in the face, but the man was quicker than her and parried perfectly, making Kate’s sword fall off her hand and roll onto the floor. "You could’ve hurt him!" Eleanor’s tone was full of anger, reprimand and shock as she stared at her daughter with eyes wide with disappoint.
"No, I knew he would parried my jab. I wanted to prove he is lying, which I successfully did." Kate took her hat off hastily and stared Jack down, who was acting too casual and laid back for Y/N’s and Kate’s likings.
"I might’ve downplayed my skills and lied repeatedly about them." Jack stated nonchalantly and smiled at Eleanor, "I’m gonna go change."
"You are unbelievable." Eleanor pointed her forefinger at her daughter before walking into the living room while shaking her head disapprovingly.
"I was just trying to prove to you Jack is a bit suspicious." Kate started as she pulled the zipper of the uniform down and hastily took it off of her, letting her black t-shirt show her amazing arms and deciding to neglect her blazer for now since she was too hot from the argument unfolding with her mom to dress herself back at the moment. Y/N had a serious hard time in not ogling at the wonderful sight that was Kate in a simple black t-shirt and swallowed imperceptibly to get rid of the sudden dryness of her throat as she tried to focus and understand what Kate was telling to her mom about Jack, since the girl talked about her suspicions about him with her the night prior and she was right, everything was a bit dubious and he was extremely untrustworthy despite him trying to put up an innocent façade with too much excitement and eagerness about everything as he tried to appear perfect in front of everyone. But was he really perfect? That’s what they were trying to find out. Yeah, they. Y/N decided to help Kate investigate on her mom’s flawless and perfect fiancée. "He is too perfect! He is hiding something!"
"Oh don’t be ridiculous!" Eleanor waved Kate off as she sat on a small armchair while Y/N stayed closer to the archer as she placed forcefully the uniform on the couch’s cushions and walked towards her mother. Y/N stayed closer to the couch to assess the scene in front of her silently, "you are overreacting."
"Don’t you think it’s a bit suspicious that the same night his uncle threatens you, he is murdered by a sword. How many murders happens by a sword? Let me take a guess. Zero, mom." Kate sat on the small table and crossed her arms angrily as she clenched on her jaw, the gesture making the muscles there pop out and making her jaw more defined and that caused Y/N’s head to spin a bit.
"You are looking too much into things."
"It’s more than that! There are street gangs Molotov cocktails, and a ninja-"
"STREET GANGS?!"
"What is a Molotov cocktail- wait- are you old enough to drink?" Jack came back into the living room and went straight for the bottles full of alcohol to pour himself a drink, making a joke with a wide grin as he asked in worry with his forefinger sticking out from its grip on the glass in his hand to point at Kate suspiciously his question.
Y/N wanted to snort at the incredulous look Kate regarded Jack with before rolling her eyes at him, then focusing on her mom talking once again about her future in Bishop Security. "Now please, apologize to Jack."
Kate stared ahead of her for a few seconds before turning her head towards him with a mischievous and mocking grin on her lips, "I’m sorry Jack for pushing you to say the truth."
Jack laughed heartily at Kate and shook his head, rounding his arm around Eleanor’s waist as she made her way towards him while also a small chuckle left her lips, "she is a smart one, isn’t she?" Jack passed the glass in his hand to Eleanor, who thanked him with a grateful smile, before he got out of his embrace with Eleanor and walked towards Kate as he rummaged into his blazer’s pocket for something, "butterscotch?"
Y/N watched as Kate’s smug grin fell of her face and worry settled on her features as she stared at the sweet candy into Jack’s hands before making her way towards Y/N to retrieve her blazer and coat, putting them on quickly, "I- I have to go."
"Kate what’s wrong?"
"N-nothing. I just- I just remembered I need to take care of something for w-work."
"Kate I’m your boss, I’m sure I can let it slide."
"I’m sorry. I’m- I’m gonna call you later. Let’s go." Kate grabbed Y/N’s hand and pushed her out of the living room, Y/N having just enough time to say bye to the both of them as she got pulled away, stopping just to let her take her own coat before walking out of the penthouse, ignoring Eleanor’s gaze that followed them and their joined hands until the elevator’s doors closed, then Eleanor’s eyes focused on Jack who shook his head imperceptibly and shrugged unknowingly before popping the candy into his mouth and smiling sweetly at his fiancée.
"Kate what’s wrong? Why did we leave so fast?" Y/N asked in worry as she tried to keep up with Kate’s fast pace as she walked as far away as possible from the building, before stretching a hand up to call a cab.
"He offered me a butterscotch."
"Okay and?" Y/N asked confused as she opened the taxi’s door and let Kate in first before following her.
"It was a monogrammed butterscotch, his uncle’s Armand III’s butterscotch." Kate clarified as she typed away on her phone.
"Oh shit." Y/N exclaimed with widened eyes and bit down on her bottom lip as she stressed over the situation in her head, "are you sure?"
"Yeah, I saw them when I sneaked into Armand’s house the night I met you. I’m 100% sure." Kate huffed out at something on her phone before meeting Y/N’s eyes, making the girl believe what she was saying and what she was thinking about Jack, her suspicions starting to become really solid, to strengthen and to cement more and more each passing day their worries about Jack.
"Okay, fuck this is a lot."
"I’m trying to contact Clint but he is playing hard to get and he is not answering me. I’m gonna call him." Kate called Clint and put the phone on speaker, huffing in frustration when it stopped a few seconds later. "Should I try again?" Kate asked rhetorically, meeting Y/N’s eyes for a second before clicking on Clint’s name and called him again, smiling when this time she heard him pick up the phone, "y’know sometimes calling again isn’t the best option but it wor-"
"I’m sorry. Clint Barton can’t come to the phone right now."
Kate stared wide eyed in shock at a just as much astounded Y/N at the unknown voice and both looked down at the phone in the young archer’s hand when the stranger hung up the phone, "who the hell was that?"
"I don’t know, let me track Clint’s phone." Kate answered absentmindedly at Y/N’s question as she was already working on locating Clint’s phone, "yes!" She exclaimed in victory when she got the exact position and showed the screen to Y/N, "sir, I need you to speed up please."
-
"Okay Kate, we’re gonna split up so we can cover the entire perimeter quickly. When we’re done we’ll meet here again."
"Yeah, okay." Kate nodded in understanding as she secured the quiver behind her back while adjusting her bow in her hand.
"We’re just checking out for threats or if there are guards outside. We’re not attacking. Not yet at least." Y/N stated and punctuated slowly each word to make Kate understand to lay low for now. "We’ll meet here again in 3 minutes."
"Noted." Kate nodded once again, Y/N not noticing the absentminded tone she used while her eyes focused all around them. "I’ll see you in a bit."
"See you in a bit." Y/N smiled at her and went to turn around to cover the side of the building’s perimeter she needed to cover but Kate’s voice stopped her and made her turn back around to face her.
"If I see a possible threat, what do I do?"
"Just knock them out. As quietly as possible."
"Okay, yeah!"
Y/N snorted at Kate’s enthusiasm and watched her turn around before doing the same and getting to work. Thankfully the area was clear, no one was outside, so she assumed all the tracksuits were inside the building. They weren’t exactly the smartest gangs she faced but they knew how to be dangerous and someone could get hurt easily when they were around, especially if their boss was involved directly, so she was extremely cautious to not be heard from them because it would get Fisk’s attention if it got to him that two Avengers were snooping around in his business. She sighed in relief when she didn’t hear any sound that could mean Kate encountered a tracksuit and had to knock him out and walked back to their designated spot. "Kate, where are you?" Y/N asked in a hushed tone as she controlled her watch and noticed she had been waiting for Kate to come back to where she told her to for about 5 minutes now. A few seconds later the sound of a glass breaking caught her attention and made her move her head up to the roof as her eyebrows furrowed together in confusion, "what the-?" Y/N’s eyes immediately became blue as she used her magic to fly on the roof and assess what the hell just happened only for her mouth to slack open when she noticed the window’s glass that was right in the middle of the roof had a big whole in it, an human size whole, and Y/N face slapped herself when realization hit her. "Kate, what did you do?" Y/N murmured under her breath and sighed when she leaned over a bit on the window’s broken glass, being careful in not being caught by the tracksuits, to assess that in fact Kate fell from the roof right in front of Clint sat on a chair - she smiled a bit when she noticed he had a rope in his hands, meaning he already got his hands out of the rope tied around his wrists - and that now they were surrounded by at least 10 tracksuits all pointing a gun at them.
"Oh wow." Kate exclaimed as she recovered from the impact and looked around the room with wide, incredulous eyes, something that made Y/N snort under her breath as she tried to listed to the conversation below, coming up to her a bit muffled but she could still clearly detect what they were saying. "I-I didn’t realize we were supposed to bring guns." Kate laughed softly under her breath before rolling her shoulder a bit, "ow."
"Oh Kate, you should’ve listened to me!" Y/N exclaimed under her breath as she tried to come up with a plan to let them escape without getting them hurt. "I can’t just land there and knock everyone unconscious. I don’t know how many people are there. They are heavily armed. Okay Y/N think." Y/N talked under her breath as she paced back and forth on the roof, "great, they’re tying Kate and Clint to a kiddie ride." Y/N lifted her hands up in frustration before bringing them to her face to cover it a few seconds then moved her fingers up and massaged her temples. "Think Y/N. Think. Find the best solu-" Y/N stopped herself in her tracks and trailed off when she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket and lifted it up to see who was calling. Panic rose into her chest when she read the called ID and willed her voice to sound casual when she answered the call, "hey mom."
Y/N slapped herself on her forehead at the squeaky, definitely not casual and chill voice she used, her tone shrill and showing she was panicking, "hey honey, how are you?"
"Oh I’m good, yeah. Yeah. You? How are you doing? What’s up?" Y/N whined internally at her pathetic self for not acting normal during a stupid phone call with her mother and pleaded herself to get a fucking grip on herself. She hated lying to her mom and she knew her mother would know the truth nonetheless she was chill or not.
"I’m good. Everything okay? You seem stressed."
"What? Pfft! No, everything’s f-fine! Y’know just spending time with Clint, you know how much I enjoy making fun of him. Oh I’m also spending time with Kate, the girl we saved from some troubles she put herself into. She is so funny and sweet! You should meet her, maybe you can visit soon so you can meet her properly and-"
"Y/N! Slow down sweety." Wanda stopped Y/N from word-vomiting some more and let a small, knowing smirk appear on her features at her daughter’s behavior, "what trouble did you and Clint find yourself in now?"
"Ugh, I hate that you know me so well and know how to read through my voice." Y/N grunted as her mother laughed heartily and chanced another look at her friends now riding on their rides as sun started to rise in the early morning sky. "I can’t really talk right now, I need to find a way to pull Kate and Clint away from our threats."
"Who are you against to?"
"Kingpin and tracksuits."
"Oh shit, how bad it is?" Wanda asked in worry as she bit down on her bottom lip, a small smile tugging at her lips at Y/N and Clint always finding themselves in these kind of situations when they were together.
"They are currently tied on kiddie rides while tracksuits makes fun of them." Y/N explained with a loud exhale at the end of her sentence, rubbing her temple harder to try to find a good plan of action, but her mother’s laugh made her stop pacing.
"Oh my god, can you please record it? I want to blackmail him with that!"
"Mom!"
"What? I’m sure it’s a funny sight and I want to enjoy it too!"
"Unbelievable." Y/N snorted under her breath as she shook her head at her mother’s antics, hearing her continuing laughing her ass off as she probably was trying to picture the scene in her head. "I’m trying to save their ass by squeezing my brain while you want me to record him ride a pony."
"Is he riding a pony?! Oh you have to absolutely record it now!"
"Mom!" Y/N laughed heartily at her mother’s Wanda’s sentence and she had to cover her mouth with her free hand not holding her phone to her mouth to prevent the tracksuits to hear her loud voice and small chuckles and make her cover blow up and pretty much giving away, communicate and tell them her actual position on the roof. She tried to regain her composure as she giggled some more alongside her mother, who was clearly having too much fun with Clint riding a pony, but she was also feeling a care-free warmth invade her chest at how genuine and happy her mother seemed to be right now, something that was lacking a lot these days, not after what they did in Westview. "Stop laughing! I need to focus, this is serious. I need to find a plan to help them out without having about 40 tracksuits shooting at us."
"Do you need help? I can help you from here if you tell me about your whereabouts, how the building is organized, what are your access points, your exits and so on."
So Y/N started to explain everything to her mother who listened intently and spoke up only a few times, helping Y/N come up with a pretty solid plan of action. "Okay, I’ll call you later. I love you."
"I love you sweety, please be careful and tell Clint we need to talk. Oh and don’t forget to record him, just a short video, for me! Thank you hun! Good luck with mission ‘save Kate’s and Clint’s ass’! Bye, love you!"
"Love you mum." Y/N hung up her phone and, as she promised her, recorded a short video for her mother, laughing under her breath at the clear distress, anger and annoyance on Clint’s features before stopping the video. She almost dropped her phone and made it fall right in front of the tracksuits from the hole in the window when her eyes settled on Kate, riding a spaceship, her body rocking softly to the kiddie ride’s rhythm as her face stayed neutral with a sprinkle of irritation on her features. She had to literally detach her eyes from that mesmerizing and extremely hot sight, pulled her mind out of the gutter and spurred into action, using her magic to stop the kiddie rides and watched as the tracksuits got quickly bored and started minding their own business. She got ready to teleport right beside Kate and Clint to help them out when someone else entered the room, making her stop in her tracks. "Shit, it wasn’t in the plan another one of them!" Y/N furrowed her brows when she watched the girl free Clint’s hand but tied him up again when she understood he wasn’t exactly the best at using sign language, "oh shit! Kate!" Y/N whispered under breath in alarm when she saw the girl wrap her arms around Kate’s neck and tried to strangle her, but a curly, black haired man beside her stopped her. "Okay, I can’t exactly appear out of nowhere now, but I can always free them from- okay nevermind, Clint just freed himself." Y/N rolled her eyes in fond exasperation and sighed aloud, "show off! Well it seems I just need to free Kate’s hands, oh no, playboy is keeping an eye on her. I can’t use my magic, he will see it and he could shoot at her. That’s not happening." Just as she was about to at least melt the gun in his hand with her magic, an arrow flew in the air, scratched the boy’s ear, making him distract from Kate as he hissed in pain, before landing between Kate’s hands and on the tape to rip it off and free Kate’s hands and wrists. "Oh fuck it. To hell the plan, I’ll improvise." Y/N lowered down from the window and fell right between the fight taking place in that moment, immediately knocking a thug out when he tried to charge towards Kate. "Hey Bishop!"
"Y/N!"
"What happened to ‘let’s lay low and check the perimeter’?" Y/N asked in amusement with a smug grin, watching gleefully at the sheepish blush appearing on Kate’s face, making her even more beautiful as her face contorted in apology.
"I’m sorry, I saw an opportunity and I wanted to help Clint."
"Don’t worry, the most important thing is that you’re safe. Both of you. Watch out!" Y/N pointed behind Kate and quickly lifted the tracksuit charging towards her with a mist of blue and threw him on the other side of the room, slamming it into a wall.
"Behind you!" Kate threw a chair over Y/N’s head when she crouched down and hit a tracksuit on his face making him fall on the ground, unconscious.
"Thanks!" Y/N smiled at Kate in gratitude and watched as a big smile unfolded on her beautiful face while nodding at her in acknowledgement. "Nice shot. You did a good throw."
"Thanks! It’s all in the tricep and wrist y’know?!" Kate explained as she pointed with her hand at her arm, "but the bicep also does its good work. I mean, it’s the reason why I workout so-"
"Hey! On your left!"
"Oh shit, hold on!" Kate rounded her whole body around and kicked a tracksuit right in his face, making him fall on the ground while Y/N took care of two others trying to shoot them with their guns, making the guns disappear from their hands before lifting them off the ground and smashing them together face to face.
"What’s up with me and all these Steve’s quotes?" Y/N asked absentmindedly as she assessed the room for other possible threats coming towards them while Kate snorted under her breath at her sentence as she punched particularly hard another tracksuit’s face, right on his nose. They both grimaced when they heard a loud cracking sound as they saw the man fall on the ground with a shriek of pain.
"See? Biceps do a great work too!" Kate exclaimed after she lifted a tracksuit off his feel and slammed him on the ground forcefully.
"Here he is!"
"My hearing aid is broken, we need to go."
"Hold on." Kate stopped them in their tracks, making Y/N stop Clint from moving since he couldn’t hear at the moment, and she run towards the guy who was pointing a gun at her while she was still tied on that kiddie ride and slid on the ground before grasping the pillar and making her whole body round around it before hitting the guy’s legs and making him fall on the ground hard, making Y/N believe she had never seen something so cool and so hot in her life. "We can go now."
-
"Admit it grandpa, you like to show off!" Y/N smirked around the edge of her cup as she made fun of Clint after his show of jumping off the bridge and stuck them on the side of a train passing by under the bridge. They returned to Y/N’s apartment to rest a bit after their sleepless night before deciding to investigate more on Jack. The whole situation being too sketchy to not look into it.
"Look who’s talking. You are like your mother, always showing off your hands and their movements. We get it, you two are good with your fingers!" Clint exclaimed in fond exasperation before taking a big sip of his coffee and leaned his head on his arm on the table. Y/N wanted to snort at the unintentional innuendo and was ready to speak out a witty remark, but she stopped in her tracks to gulp the lump that formed in her sudden dry throat when she saw with the corner of her eyes Kate, sat beside her at her kitchen table, fidget on her spot as she cleared her throat after chocking on her coffee’s sip then biting down on her bottom lip gently.
"Let’s all take a well needed nap. Clint the guest room is all yours."
"Thank you." Clint lifted his head up from his arm and smiled in appreciation at Y/N before sitting up slowly with a few grunts and limped slightly towards the guest room.
"Kate you can take my bed. I’ll tidy the kitchen up and then I have to call my mom. She had been spamming my phone asking for the video of Clint riding a pony." Y/N giggled under her breath and felt her heart explode in her ribcage when she heard a small chuckle from beside her.
"I want that too, please!" Kate spoke up before pouting at Y/N and smiling triumphantly when a ding echoed around the kitchen, "thank you! And are you kidding? I’m staying on the couch. Go take some rest too."
"No, you are taking my room. End of discussion."
"I’m not moving till you go to sleep on your bed." Kate countered back and stared Y/N down determinedly, making Y/N almost get lost in her beautiful ocean blue irises as her brain turned into mush.
"Then I guess we’re staying here then." Y/N crossed her arms and lifted her right eyebrow up in challenge.
"How about a compromise? We share your bed or your couch. Whatever works with you."
"Okay! Let me just tell my mom I’ll call her later, she wanted to know if we got home safe."
They tidied up the kitchen and made a beeline towards Y/N’s room and Y/N’s bed, sprawling on it unceremoniously as the fatigue of the night caught up with them. "I don’t bite Y/N." Kate giggled when she noticed Y/N moved towards the far end of the bed, almost too close to the edge of the bed to fall off of it, "you’re gonna fall off the bed. C’mere."
Y/N took deep calming breaths as she scooted closer to the archer and almost combusted into mushy feelings when Kate grasped her hand and cuddled onto her arm, nuzzling her cheek on her shoulder as a hum of approval left her lips, "should I put an alarm on?"
"Yeah, what time is it?" Kate asked after breathing out blissfully, her sore muscles relaxing and her breath evening as sleep started to wrap her in a good, deep slumber.
"11 a.m."
"Okay, we had brunch before getting back here, so I guess you can put an alarm for 4 p.m? 5 p.m?"
"4:30 p.m. it is." Y/N smiled as she put an alarm on and placed her phone on the nightstand, before relaxing as much as she could with the archer clinching onto her, "goodnight Kate."
"Goodnight Y/N, sleep well."
-
"So Kate is working with you guys on an Avengers level threat?" Eleanor asked in disbelief as she eyed Y/N and Clint sat respectively on Kate’s right and left side.
"Well not exactly." Clint answered truthfully as he put a poker face on and acted chill, something Kate was struggling to do since she was bouncing her leg under the table as she wrung her fingers anxiously and Y/N had some troubles in keeping her smile at bay as she watched that adorable sight.
"I’m helping him though. You see CB1 has some problems and he needs my help-"
"CB1?" Clint asked under his breath with a confused face as Y/N chocked on the sip of tea she was drinking at the nickname Kate just made up. "No one calls me that way, CB1."
"I’m just trying it for a second." Kate murmured under her breath with her head turned slightly towards Clint before focusing her attention back on her mother, who was still staring at her confused and completely unconvinced about all this entire situation of having two Avengers in her penthouse with her daughter and about these two Avengers allegedly working on a case with her, "as I was saying, we were just passing by here and we needed to use the bathroom, well he did. So we’re just gonna-"
"A notification on my phone tells me-" Eleanor’s authoritative tone, alongside with her mother’s inquisitive stare and scary gaze, stopped Kate in her tracks as she was sitting up from her chair to escape this situation, but it seemed it was all completely useless, "that someone tried to log into my account 10 minutes ago. Any thoughts Kate?"
"Nope." Kate stressed the ‘p’ out as she avoided her gaze, "we’re just gonna go, there’s-"
"Can I see you out?" Eleanor met Clint’s eyes before focusing her gaze on Y/N’s Y/E/C irises, both tentatively nodding with forced smiles on, clearly in distress and embarrassment.
"Yeah, we’re gonna-"
"We stay." Kate sat back down dejected at her mother’s tone that left no room for objection and sighed out loud in frustration while crossing her arms under her chest and laying back on the chair’s backrest.
"I’m just gonna wait right outside of the building. If you need something text me." Y/N snorted under her breath to not be caught when she saw Kate jump slightly on her spot at the sudden voice in her head before meeting Y/N’s Y/E/C irises with her wide, excited, curious but also shocked eyes then nodded right after she wrapped her mind around Y/N’s words. After about an hour Y/N was surprised to see Kate exiting the building with a determined face on, "well that was fast."
"Next time warn me when you decide to talk through my mind, I almost screamed in fright!" Kate approached Y/N and slapped her arm gently when she heard her giggle, before starting their walk towards Y/N’s apartment.
"I’m sorry! I’ll clap my hands next time so every eyes in the room will be on me, just to be sure I’m being careful and sneaky." Y/N joked with a witty remark and chuckled some more when Kate grunted in frustration and bumped their shoulders gently, making her stumble just a bit in her steps.
"Anyway, I need to stop quickly to the store to buy a few things." Kate stated vaguely a few moments later, looking in the distance with a proud smirk and resolve shining brightly into her ocean blue eyes.
"Why?" When Kate didn’t answer, Y/N asked more, "do you care to elaborate?"
"I need to buy a few things for Clint." Kate kept on sharing just a bit of informations as she reviewed her plan into her mind, still looking ahead of her.
"Okay? Why?" Y/N tried again, getting amused but also a bit exasperated in a good way about Kate’s lack of elaboration.
"I just wanted to buy a few things for him."
"Kate." Y/N stated with an amused tone as she pushed the archer a bit on her shoulder with her own and giggled when she heard the black haired girl snort in happiness at her own teasing, pushing on Y/N back just to bask a bit more in their playful banter and bickering, both not caring not even a bit about the strange looks people passing by them were giving them, "you looking ahead of you with that smile is freaking me out."
"I was thinking what to buy for Clint!" Kate laughed as they rounded the corner and stopped at a traffic light and waited for the red light to turn green walk across the street. "He is postponing his flight to go back to his family just to help me, so I wanted to make his stay here a bit more homey and christmassy."
"Kate." Y/N started with a warming tone as she looked at her in awe, her heart swelling about three sizes at the thoughtful gesture Kate was about to make for Clint to make him feel a bit more at home despite this entire mess they found themselves in, not only because Kate decided to put on Ronin’s suit to help people out at that auction, "that’s so sweet of you and so very thoughtful!"
"I owe him this and so much more. The same goes with you. You are making sure I’m always safe. You didn’t have to wait for me outside my mom’s building but you did."
"You don’t need to thank me, but if you want to,100.000 dollars would suffice." Y/N joked and reveled in the snort followed by the cutest giggle she ever heard Kate emitted and sighed out loud blissfully as they continued to stroll over New York’s busy streets.
-
"Okay, you need to make sure it turns around the corner to hit the TV to turn it off, okay?"
Kate nodded and took a deep breath before snapping the small, round decoration from her middle and ring finger and made it fly across the room. "Who wants some more-"
"Oh shit!" Kate hastily run towards Y/N that got hit right on her forehead by the decoration, the hit being a bit harsh that it made her stumble back and fall on the couch when the back of her knees hit the armrest of her couch. "You okay?"
"Which one of the three Kates in front of me is asking?"
Kate giggled and shook her head before caressing gently Y/N’s forehead to assess the red scratch the decoration left on Y/N’s forehead, making Y/N’s stomach flip over itself at the sweet, tender touch, and sighed when she noticed it will fade in a few hours since it didn’t cut her skin off, "the middle one."
Clint rolled his eyes at Kate’s joke and helped Y/N up to a sitting position, "I think it’s time for bed."
"Yeah." Y/N nodded still a bit unfocused and turned her head around to look at Clint into his eyes, "I think so too."
"Do you want to put some ice on that?" Clint asked as he was already walking towards the kitchen but Y/N stopped him in his tracks.
"No don’t worry, I’m okay. The guest room is all yours grandpa."
"Glad you’re feeling better." Y/N and Kate giggled at Clint’s grunt at her nickname and shook his head amusedly, "goodnight girls, go to sleep, it’s gonna be a great and busy day tomorrow!"
The thee of them made their ways towards the two respective bedrooms after changing into more comfy clothes. Kate sighed out blissfully at the comfort settling on her when her muscles relaxed on Y/N’s comfortable bed and heard the girl do the same, "thank you for letting me borrow your clothes."
Y/N had to literally stop ogling like a lovesick puppy Kate with her clothes, but she couldn’t help herself when she had the cutest sight she had ever witnessed laying right beside her in her bed - let’s not focus on that particular detail to prevent Y/N’s heart to burst out of her ribcage for its maddening quick rate - so she just tried to play it cool by smiling at her and nodding softly, "you don’t have to thank me, it’s not a problem."
"I’m sorry for hitting you." Kate tentatively lifted her hand up and caressed Y/N’s forehead softly, the small indent left by the decoration starting to fade as the flush was subsiding, and made Y/N gasp imperceptibly under her breath at the touch, now aware more than ever about how close their faces were as they laid on their sides, face to face, on her bed.
"Don’t worry, it was an accident." Y/N slapped herself inwardly at her voice quivering, forcing herself to not combust right in front of the young archer’s eyes for her amazing touch, touch that was still happening as her fingers caressed her forehead’s skin gently, and willed herself to compose herself and get a grip on her pathetic, useless gay self, "it was an accident right?"
Kate giggled when Y/N lifted her right eyebrow up inquisitively with a skeptic look on, "oh no, you got me! I better run away!" Kate cracked a joke as she reluctantly pulled her hand away from Y/N’s forehead and lifted them up in surrender and laughed alongside Y/N after putting a frightened look on her face.
"Nice trick by the way."
"Clint never taught it to you?"
"Well when you tend to have magic hands, you usually do tricks with your magic." Y/N joked some more as she lifted a hand up and created a blue mist that moved around her fingers, missing Kate’s small shudder and imperceptible gulp as her head caught an innuendo that clearly wasn’t there, just like it happened that evening, and tried to get her mind out of the gutter, too much busy focusing on her fingers.
"Do you regret having these powers?" Kate asked mesmerized as she stared at the blue mist before meeting Y/N’s eyes, "you told me about your story and how your mother at some point hated her own powers, so I was just curious about your own feelings about your own powers. I mean, you don’t have to answer my question, it was just pure, innocent curiosity-"
"Kate." Y/N grasped Kate’s forearm with a small chuckle to make her stop rambling and smiled at her warmly and tenderly, "I did too, at some point, hate my powers. For a long time I thought about being stupid for loving them when all I did was causing pain to so many people. But recently, after taking a break from everything and everyone, I came to my senses. I got this powers to help people. Just like I always thought. I just- I don’t know lost my way for a while. I was in a really bad and dark place and when you give your demons room to do whatever they want to your brain, well with powers like my powers and my mom’s powers people get hurt. Badly."
"Do you- want to- elaborate?" Kate asked slowly, stressing her words out in a soft voice to not scare Y/N as she stared into space with a completely blank expression on as she played with the hem of Kate’s - well it was actually Y/N’s one - t-shit’s sleeve.
"Have you ever heard about Westview?"
"No."
"Of course not, SWORD covered up the entire thing thanks to Monica. Anyway, Westview is the place where my mom and I were at our lowest and with my mom, we held hostage of an entire small town." Y/N started and grimaced when Kate gasped in shock, but she fought against the tears and got herself ready to retell Kate what she did to the people of Westview with the help of her mom and what really happened there.

Codename: Turtledove - Cole Turner One Shot
"Stay in my line of sight, Turtledove..." Eleanor hears the voice of Roxie who was the agent in charge of her detail. Ever since she graduated from college and her mother was sworn in as President of the United States, she's had a constant tail. She couldn't go anywhere alone, not even on a date. Being not only the daughter of the president, but the daughter of the first female president of a still predominantly patriarchal country made her an even bigger target. Today she donned a brunette wig just so she can walk freely through the farmer's market, and yet Roxie insisted on following along.
Eleanor sighs, looking back to see Roxie about 20 feet behind her, distracting her as she runs into someone, causing them both to fall to the ground. "Oh god..." She looks at the man in the dark blue sweater that brought out the blue in his eyes as he grunted, holding his ribs. She reaches for him but he waves her away and she feels someone pull her to her feet quickly. She already knows who it is as she is pulled away from the man. She rips her arm away, turning to glare at Roxie once more. "I'm fine! Just leave me alone!"
"Are you alright?" Cole watches the girl approach him as he stands, his chest heaving as he pulls his inhaler from his pocket. He shakes it, taking a large inhale as he holds it for a few seconds.
"I'm fine. Are you okay? I'm really sorry. I wasn't paying attention." She watches him nod, resting his hands on his hips and she chuckles. He was cute in an innocent sort of way. Tall, with broad shoulders and hands that belonged to a man that did manual labor, calloused and dirty. She clocked the obvious muscles under the sweater that she wondered were just for show as she followed him to his small stand.
"I'm okay." He began to pack stuff into his boxes as he watched her graze over the few pieces of produce that still covered the table. She seemed to have a sense of being lost about her as she sighed, grabbing a jar of honey from the box in front of him. He felt his heart catch as she dragged her large gray eyes up to his. He noticed they were accompanied by small flecks of amber near the irises as she began to blush under his gaze. "Wow..."
Eleanor froze at his sharp intake of air, his eyes locked firmly on hers and she worries that he recognizes her as he smiles. "What?!"
"Your eyes. They're beautiful. I've never seen gray eyes before..."
"Oh..." She brings her hand up to nervously play with her hair as she hands him the jar of honey. "Thanks," she manages to mumble as he digs around for a bag. "How much for the honey?"
Cole hesitates as he watches her pull her wallet from her small crossbody purse. He hands her the bag as he pushes her wallet back to her. "How about your name? I've already packed my cash box and I don't feel like looking for it."
"My name?" She asks, confused as he smiles.
"Yeah, as payment for the honey." He points to the jar as she laughs, looking down at it in her hand.
"Right... um, it's Chloe," she lies, already regretting it as soon as it falls out of her mouth. But what was she supposed to say? Hi, I'm Eleanor Waddingham, the daughter to the president and I'm wearing a wig... NO. She sighs, shaking her head as she accepts the hand he offers her with a smile.
"Cole Turner. Nice to meet you. I'm here every Friday and Saturday morning..."
"Thank you for the honey, Cole Turner. I'll see you around." She hesitates for a moment before turning to walk away as Roxie comes to walk beside her. "Ugh. Can you not walk so close? I thought the point of you guys were supposed to be hidden."
"You lied to him about your name..."
"So? Maybe I don't want him to know who I am. He's cute and kinda sweet..."
Cole stands, watching her walk away as he fights the urge to go after her when he feels his father nudge his shoulder. "She's cute. What did you say to her?"
"That I'll be here again in the morning. You think she got the hint I want her to come back? Or should I be more explicit? Mattie is always telling me I'm too explicit and that I should be more coy when talking to women. I don't know."
Cole's father, Donovan, rolls his eyes with a sigh as his son rambles. "Don't listen to your sister, son. Just be yourself. You'll never be too much for the right woman."
Cole nods, chewing on the corner of his mouth before chasing after Eleanor. He taps Eleanor's arm as her friend grabs his arm hard, flattening him onto his back on the ground with a grunt.
"Oh my god! Roxie!" Eleanor yells, pushing Roxie back as she offers her hand to Cole. "I'm so sorry, Cole. My friend is a little overprotective."
"Uh huh..." he mumbles, trying to catch his breath as he climbs to his feet. "I keep... falling for you." He smiles as she giggles at his joke, reaching out to rest her hand on his arm.
"Are you okay, Cole?"
"I'm fine..." He swallows hard as smiles up at him, causing him to lose his train of thought for a second before he chuckles, shaking his head. "I was just confirming that you understood I wanted you to come back to see me again tomorrow morning... as it's Saturday and I'll be at the stand again."
"Yeah, I got that," she confirms with a smirk as his face turns bright red and she drags her hand down his arm to his hand. "I'll be back tomorrow morning." She laughs as his smile widens, nodding slightly.
"Great... I'll see you tomorrow then."
She glances to find Roxie becoming more impatient as she sighs. "I'll see you tomorrow, Cole." She gives his hand a small squeeze before turning to motion Roxie to follow her. "How am I supposed to have a life if you're always hovering nearby, Rox?"
"I'm sorry, Turtledove. I'm just doing my job..."
Eleanor rolls her eyes as she begrudgingly follows Roxie to their car where she climbs into the backseat, holding the small jar of honey. Just once, she wanted to meet a nice, normal guy and go on a normal date without a tail...

the sweetest devotion I've ever known
A/N: see the ‘disclaimers’ in the first one. Same thing applies: unbetaed, imperfect, probably not their final-final form. This one came to me while on vacation, too (sensing a theme...), from a very happy kid in an elevator. There is so much I am not sure about but it's also pure, saccharine fluff. Enjoy ♥️
Now that the baby had calmed down, C.J. let little Eleanor down atop the room’s desk, careful not to get any drool on her just-cleaned dress. Checking herself out in the mirror, she found an image that she had long believed wouldn’t be a thing, but oh, did it warm her heart: Nora, obsessed with her mother’s necklace as she was attempting to fix her unruly wavy hair with her cute bow headband.
“Oh, you’re growing up so fast, baby girl,” C.J. cooed, her eyes filling with some of the emotion she felt — some of it, exhaustion, but the best kind. C.J. picked her up again, but Nora turned towards the mirror that had caught her eye earlier, smiling happily. “You are beautiful. Yes, you are. Those blue eyes are going to be trouble for us… Let’s hope you didn’t inherit Daddy’s puppy eyes, too.”
Her daughter was the happiest little kid on either side of the Mississippi. Her dad was a sweet goofball, so it wasn’t a huge surprise that she had gotten some of those genes… But it was just a joy to see her slowly become her own person, with a mix of both hers and Danny’s personalities, while looking like her mini me at that young age. That all bowled her over her, in the best of ways.
It was then that Nora caught onto their reflections and started giggling, fascinated by the fact that whoever was on the other side was doing the same things as her. Nora reached forward? So did the kid in the mirror. She hid on her mom’s shoulder? Nora couldn’t know what the other did until she saw her reappear at the same time… She was equal parts suspicious and fascinated by that doppelgänger, and C.J. could barely contain her amusement.
It was truly the most endearing sight of C.J.’s life, as anything that her daughter ever did was. She was fascinated by how smart her kid was, and this moment was worth wasting a couple of minutes on. C.J. walked them closer to the mirror and pointed at it — and so did the other side.
“That is me, Mama,” she smiled before pointing back at herself, using the word Nora would often babble when referring to her. “And this is Nora,” she pointed toward the mirror, watching Nora’s awestruck yet confused expression, especially when her hand pinched her nose and that also happened to the other baby. “You!”
Her daughter’s giggles were everything she needed to get through her days. C.J. kissed the crown of her head before fixing her bow again – but not for the last time, that much she knew. She left Nora on the floor, so she could finish putting on perfume and earrings, when she saw her husband appear in the corner of the mirror. She turned around, matching his adoring smile as he walked towards her.
“And me? Am I not beautiful?” He asked teasingly, raising one eyebrow.
“You look dashing, Fishboy,” she complimented sincerely as she made a point to fix his bow tie, green and complementing her dress.
“This tie makes your eyes pop. Come on now, we’re gonna be late. I don’t want the Bartlets getting mad at us because we got late to their youngest’s wedding. So… Let’s not be, okay?”

Let It Snow Review
★★★☆☆ - 3 stars
Tumblr media
On a Christmas Eve, Gracetown becomes blanketed in snow. As three stories come together to form one, a group of teenagers lives change indefinitely as romance forms in the most unlikely of places. Alongside romance blooming, a series of dramatic events sends them down festive paths they never would have anticipated ending up in.
The Jubilee Express by Maureen Johnson
Tumblr media
★★★★★ - 5 stars
Jubilee Dougal was not expecting to spend Christmas in Gracetown with a family she didn't know. But when her parents got arrested; her boyfriend was being neglectful; her train broke down on the way to visit her grandparents; and she trekked in the snow to a Waffle House, she didn't have much choice. She wasn't expecting to fall in love with a total stranger either - but Christmas has an effect on people.
It took me a few pages but once I got into this one, I loved it.
Jubilee is awesome - who doesn't completely favour her over pretty much every character in this book. And Stuart is the sweetest man on earth.
Stuart's mam kind of freaked me out a bit, but she was nice so it was fine.
And the way that Stuart and Jubilee bonded over having terrible exes was cute.
Also, on that note, I hate Noah with all of my guts - he found out his girlfriend had several near death experiences within a few hours and he didn't even care at all!? What's wrong with this guy!?
But, overall, I got really invested in this one - it was the cute, cozy Christmas romance I was looking for. I loved it.
A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle by John Green
Tumblr media
★★★★☆ - 4 stars
When Tobin and his friends get a call from Keun at the Waffle House, they set out on a trek to join him there - if only for the cheerleaders. But getting there isn't so easy, with a broken down car; miles of travel all if which is covered in snow; and two twins threatening their every move. Along the way, Tobin discovers maybe he isn't going for the cheerleaders after all - maybe he is simply in love with his best friend: the Duke (Angie).
The Duke is definitely my favourite character - she was created well, she wasn't very feminine but didn't judge other girls for being feminine.
Also I love the pop cultures references - Twister is one of the best board games around and James Bond is iconic.
I think it was kind of slow paced, but it was still good. My main issue is the sexist interpretation of cheerleaders - sexualising the concept of cheerleaders themselves, pom poms and short skirts. It was addressed, but it still made me uncomfortable.
I thought Tobin and the Duke were super cute together. However, it took me a while to get there.
Overall, I liked it quite a lot - this is the second thing I've read by John Green and his writing style is still something I'm getting used to but I do like it.
The Patron Saint of Pigs by Lauren Myracle
Tumblr media
★★☆☆☆ - 2 stars
The fate of a singular teacup pig falls into the hands of a dramatic teenage girl, Addie. Whilst trying to keep the pig safe, she has to navigate her broken relationship with her boyfriend Jed, after having cheated on him by kissing someone else.
I didn't really like the writing style - frankly, I found it boring after the first page. Also, can we talk about the writing is very Eleanor and Park esque - even down to the racism ("He seemed so exotic" almost killed me).
Addie is really annoying too - she totally doesn't deserve Jeb.
Plus, this story argues that it's okay to cheat on someone as long as you apologize profusely in an attempt to salvage the relationship.
But, I have to admit I mostly finished this one for the teacup pig - and to see how the stories intertwined in the end.

2022 Book Wrap!
In total I read 29 books this year meaning I was only 1 book of my reading goal of 30. That is okay thought because this year I really got back into reading and considering last year I read about 14!
Books I read:
The Turn of the Screw - Henry James
The World's Greatest Miracle - Og Mandino
The Thursday Murder Club - Richard Osman
Where the Crawdads Sing - Delia Owens
The Haunting of Hill House - Shirley Jackson
The woman in Black - Susan Hill
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
The Man Who Died Twice - Richard Osman
The Girls I've Been - Tess Sharpe
As Good as Dead - Holly Jackson
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - Taylor Jenkins Reid
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine - Gail Honeyman
How to Tell if Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You - The Oatmeal
Heartstopper - Alice Osrman
The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald
Trial by Fire - Josephine Angelini
Firewalker - Josephine Angelini
Witches Pyre - Josephine Angelini
Midnight Sun - Stephanie Meyer
New Moon - Stephanie Meyer
Eclipse - Stephanie Meyer
The Candid Life of Meena Dave - Namrata Patel
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes - Suzanne Collins
One Last Stop - Casey McQuiston
Daisy Jones and the Six - Taylor Jenkins Reid
The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky
Little women - Louisa May Alcott
Good wives - Lousia May Alcott
The Bullet that Missed - Richard Osman
My 5 top books of the year that weren't rereads are probably The Woman in Black, Midnight Sun, The Candid Life of Meena Dave, Daisy Jones and the Six, and One Last stop.
The Woman in Black is my new favourite horror book ever. It made me feel so unsettled (my imagination is very active) and had me peeking around corners before exiting a room incase the Woman in black was waiting for me. The plot twist at the end really got me as I genuinely thought that he had broken the curse but wow. It was sick but also amazing and I couldn't read anything for a few days once I finished it because I was still hooked.
Funnily enough Midnight Sun is in my top 5. I know alot of people disliked this book because it was too similar to Twilight but I really enjoyed it. I love how we really get to see Edwards character more in depth. What I loved is how dramatic he was and how funny he was. My favourite part was when Mike was speaking to Bella and Edwards decides to be the most dramatic man ever and start thinking about how he could just kill Mike. So silly.
The Candid Life of Meena Dave is incredible. I love the characters, especially the dog! The romance in this book was so cute and I loved how Patel didn't make Meena have her whole life and story revolve around Sam after meeting him. It didn't just focus on love but also on Meena trying to find herself before even thinking about getting into a relationship. Was an amazing read that had me kicking my feet.
Now at first I didn't like Daisy Jones and the Six because of how it was written. But then I grew to love it with my whole heart. I wanted to learn how to pkay bass guitar before reading this book but after it made me get up and actually learn. I'm so glad Reid didn't glamorise or romanticise drugs because drugs quite literally almost ruined Billy's life. I loved seeing how he changed and dealt with everything. Anyway I'm so excited for the show to come out in March!
Finally, One Last Stop, arguably my favourite overall this year. THIS REALLY HAD ME KICKING MY LEGS IT WAS SO CUTE. I think I also fell in love with Jane. When I say this book had me crying I mean actually sobbing. The end had me facing so many emotions. I don't even have the words to say how much I love this book.
I reread quite a few books too. My top 5 were definitely the Worldwalker Trilogy (Trial by Fire, Firewalker and Witches Pyre), The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Little Women. These 5 books are my comfort books. Every single one of them has broken spines and damaged covers because of the amount of times I've read them. I highly HIGHLY recommend them, especially the Worldwalker trilogy and anything by Josephine Angelini. The trilogy has my ultimate book crush, Rowan Fall, too! So underrated definetly go read it!
Anyway, that is everything I have to say about this year. Its a shame I only had one book left to read but I'll achieve it next year!

so knowing what i know about tumblr, i prolly missed an ass load of tags. if you see this and don't like… uh… sadness? death? more sadness? shitting on the old man in the sky (if he or she or whatever it could be even exists)? dying men who are a little bit irish and also texan somehow??? flee my friend!!! fleeeeee!!!
still here? too bad for you. this is unrefined, utterly. i wrote it at four am and merely reread it. once. please leave constructive criticism. i know it's not good, don't tell me for fuck's sake, not without some advice. i'll accept slander disguised as helpful tips but JUST BARELY AND YOU'RE ON THINNNNN FUCKING ICE PAL
I screamed at first. Flailed wildly, struggled to tear off my suit before Allen had stopped me. Shouted curses through my visor at the cold, unresponsive stars scattered throughout the black. Tear tracks ran down my face, little salty trails that had long dried. My strangled gasps had calmed down to even little sips of oxygen.
To be honest, I didn't much see the point. We were gonna die anyways. They'd left us behind. How the fuck could they have left us behind? How little did they care about us that the moment the first signs of danger appeared, they'd cut us off and disappeared? How were those the people I'd come to know over the past few months?
"Hey. Max." Allen. Shit, that guy couldn't let a man throw himself a pity fest in peace. Too good for this business, I always thought.
Allen and I were tied together at our waists using our severed o2 cords. It left our hands free and kept us from drifting out of range of one another. I'm pretty sure no one wants to die alone.
Don't look towards Eleanor.
I didn't look towards Eleanor.
"What," I snapped over my intercom with more bite than I'd intended. I immediately regretted it when Allen didn't reply, going silent except for the faint sounds of his breathing. Shit, shit, no, I didn't mean it--
"Got anyone special waiting for you back home?" His question was so surprising I couldn't help but let out an embarrassed laugh.
"Oh, fuck, no. Why, you interested, big boy?" I heard him inhale sharply, and I could just picture him stammering in my head. Wh-- huh, no-- I didn't-- I wasn't-- Max, now is not the time! Unfortunately for my own amusement, I didn't really feel like teasing Allen while we were waiting around for our respective imminent demises. "Aha, no, don't worry, just kidding with you." I sighed. "Tell you the truth, nah. If I had a man waiting for me, this is not the business I would have gone into. Only one waiting for me is my cute tabby cat, Arnold, but my asshole of a sister and I agree on one thing-- that girl deserves a good home. I'm not worried about her."
Allen chewed his lip. "I take it you and your sister aren't particularly close?"
I shrugged, trying to push the memories away. "Yeah, not really. Madds was… yeah, doesn't matter how we got like this, honestly, but there ain't much coming back from it." I gave a short, dry laugh. "Especially not now. What about you? Got someone I should know about so I can tease you in our last moments?"
"…" And I fucked up again. I was really good at that, it seemed, but hey, he'd asked first. Why ask if you didn't want it turned around on you?
"…Okay, promise me you won't laugh." Well, that got my eyebrows shooting skyward. Starward. What fuckin' ever.
"Not so sure how hard that'll be, but sure. I'll do my best."
He took a deep breath and then let it out explosively, causing the intercom to spaz out for a second. I winced at the white noise before it cleared up. "Alright, okay. Well, I'm not sure it counts, but… no, really, promise me you won't laugh."
"Cross my heart and hope to die." I started making an X over my heart but couldn't quite reach. Clumsy thing, spacesuits are. "…Eh, I'm with it in spirit. Seriously, though, I won't laugh. It'd be a real douche thing to do right now."
I couldn't see his face, but I swear he smiled. "Thanks. So there was this boy, right? Grade one, I walk up and ask him, do you wanna be friends? Just like that. And he just goes, sure! And that was that, we were friends. Kids are sweet like that, huh?" I grinned and nodded before remembering he couldn't see it. "So we hung out every day at school afterwards. I can't really remember what we did that first year, but it must've been fun, cuz when grade 2 rolled around, I was over the moon to see we were in the same class again. We talked at lunch breaks, and in class, when they let us. Holy shit, we talked so much. I don't think I've ever talked to anyone else in my life as much as I talked with him."
"What did you talk about?" I hummed, crossing my legs.
"Oh, things. It wasn't really important. Whatever caught our interest. What would you do if you had this power, what if you turned into a dinosaur, what's your favorite book, that sort of thing. We just went really in depth, like ridiculously in depth for a couple of… what, five year olds? But it was fun. Made me look forward to coming to school more than I already did."
"Aw, Allen, you were a teacher's pet?" I groaned mockingly. He laughed.
"Yeah, I guess that's what you'd call it. We both were. Quiet, liked to learn. Don't think the whole 'opposites attract' thing is true, to be honest. Third grade rolled around, and we both discovered that we loved to write stories. They were dumbass stories, but we were in third grade, what do you expect? We encouraged each other and I think my enthusiasm might have carried on to him, because later on, turned out he didn't really wanna write anymore. But that's not relevant right now. We made up this game where one of us would create a scenario and the other would pretend to be a character in the scenario, like writing a book in real time."
"Holy shit, Allen, you were a nerd even in third grade!? I mean, knowing you, yeah, but I thought that was more of a high schooler thing."
"Hey, I said no laughing! I know it was stupid."
"Sorry, sorry. You know I'm not serious. Just teasing and all. Sorry."
"…I don't mind, actually. Takes my mind off the… all this."
We both went quiet. I could feel the weight of the stars pressing in on me.
"…Anyways. Fourth, fifth, sixth, we got better at writing and critiqued each other's work. Made some comics together at the start of class, while the teachers were getting the other kids to calm down. Some of them I've still got at home, actually. Maybe I can show them t…."
"Ah. We kept playing that game, by the way. Had some real wild times, or as wild as you could get when it's all in your head. Looking back, he's the only person I really talked to those whole six years. Teachers liked me, sure, and I guess my classmates did, too, but all they remembered me for was being that slightly weird quiet kid who hung around his friend all the time. I think it fucked me up a bit when we went to different schools. I made some new friends, but it got a little exhausting keeping up those friendships, and I wasn't getting what I wanted out of them, so I just stopped talking to them. First year of high school rolled around, and when it was over, it really hit me. We hadn't talked in months. Hadn't met in a year. I didn't make any new friends. I don't see the point in talking about it now, but well. After that, I just drifted on through. Grades slipped. If I'd been better about keeping them up, maybe we'd never have met." Maybe he wouldn't be dying here with me, was what he was saying. "Ah, shit, sorry, that came out wrong--"
"Allen," I silenced him. "Don't worry. I get it. Keep going. Or don't, whatever you want."
He cleared his throat, and I couldn't help but notice his voice becoming a bit more warbley as he continued. "Shit. Well, it wasn't until grade twelve happened that I realized I wanted to die."
He stopped abruptly. Jesus fucking christ. That was… Jesus christ! I mean, now was as good a time as ever to spill your guts, but I'd never imagined Allen of all people…
"Fuuuuck, sorry. Shouldn't have told you that. That was rude."
"I don't mind. I think if it's helping you, it's good. Is it helping you?"
He sniffed. "Yeah."
"Okay. You can go on," I encouraged him softly. When did I get so calm and nurturing all of a sudden? Since your best mate admitted he wanted to kill himself, and hasn't told you it ever went away. Asshole.
"So I dropped out of school and became a cargo shipper. Kept drifting along, got caught smuggling goods with a shady crew, sentenced to shipping essential supplies through dangerous quadrants. You know how it went after. Things got better, I guess? And now… shit, now I don't wanna die, but if we get out of this mess, what the fuck am I gonna do with my life? Just keep drifting along? If my friend saw me now, he'd be a helluva lot more disappointed than I could handle. I miss him."
"What was his name?" The quiet question elicited a burst of laughter.
"And that's the real kicker-- for being the main part of my life I enjoyed the most, I can't remember. I can't remember his fucking name. It's like some huge, cosmic joke-- or maybe a twisted story with a solemn, shitty old moral at the end." Allen suddenly snarled, becoming more bitter than I'd ever heard from him. "Agh, if there is some grand old fuck up there, I'm gonna kick him in the jewels a few times. Bastard's an asshole."
That surprised a cackle out of me. "Oh, I'd drink to that. A real cunt." I raised my fist and shook it into empty space comically. "Hear that? Suck my big one, God!"
Allen was laughing with me. "Yeah, go find yourself a real hobby instead of giving kids cancer and shitting on the homeless!"
I laughed harder. Fuck, why hadn't he shown this side of himself back when we were living together on the ship? Cuz he was scared, probably. You're not the most welcoming kinda guy, if you haven't noticed. From what he's told you about his youth, are you really surprised?
We chuckled together for a good while after, a soft, tender thing between us. It was comfortable. Given more time, maybe I could've been the friend Allen needed. Given more time, this conversation never would have happened, and I wouldn't have seen this side of him in the first place. Given more time, I'd just keep on being a right old cunt like I'd always been.
The air felt thinner. The laughing had tired me out, and no matter how deeply I breathed, I couldn't get the ache out of my lungs. "Welp. I think this is it," I chirped, trying to keep the fear out of my voice. "See you on the other side, Allen."
"Same to you, Max."
"…Uh, and if you happen to hear any delirious apologies about Madeline… ignore em, please. That'd be embarrassing."
"After what I just told you? Couldn't embarrass me if you tried, whoever Madeline is."
"Oof, I wouldn't be so sure of that. You don't wanna test me."
"Haha, you're right. I don't wanna test you."
We both subsided. I had a bit of a stupid smile on my face while black crept in on the sides of my vision. My lungs constricted and my breaths turned to gasps turned to wheezes. Muffled came the sounds of Allen going through a similar crisis, but I didn't have the brains for much sympathy at the moment. Mostly just a bunch of 'oh, wahhh, I don't wanna die' nonsense. Well, not nonsense. I don't wanna die. Don't think Allen does, really, either. There's no light at the end of the tunnel. A bunch of little ones, maybe, holes poked in a big old black blanket thrown over sticks by a couple of little kids. They're laughing. They're smiling. I can see wisps of Allen's curly blond hair, and the tangled brown mat of my own.
Everything's gonna be fine, I wanna tell him. We'll meet again.

I started this last August but never finished this or posted it. Was disappointed by Ben, thrilled by Devi and Nalini's relationship.
No motivation to finish, so here's the post:
Never Have I Ever Season 3 thoughts
Spoilers!
Aneesa:
Tumblr media
Hate how they treated Aneesa. Ben was a shitty boyfriend, ignoring her, not supporting her, mocking her, not making her a priority, ugh. She deserved better.
Aneesa kissing Fabiola: didn't hate it, but didn't like that Aneesa was cheating on Ben when she knows that's a big trigger for him. (Granted, he was being an asshole, also he never found out, so no lasting harm done, but.)
Also: we know Aneesa's mom doesn't want her to date. How's she going to deal with Aneesa being bi? Better yet, how's Aneesa going to deal with being bi? Did she already know?
Loved Paxton picking up on the flirty vibe between Aneesa and Fab, and demonstrating eye contact. Hilarious.
Fab and Aneesa could've been cute, but the writers didn't even give them a chance. So Aneesa's boyfriend is in love with someone else, then her girlfriend flirts with someone else in front of her. Do the writers just hate Aneesa? She deserved better.
Fabiola:
Tumblr media
Eve just disappearing off to Korea? Sucky. She and Fabiola just confessed their love!
Personality change much? Took her forever to get comfortable with Eve, but then she's making moves on Addison and then hooking up before they're even officially dating?
Good for her for being more confident, but it seemed abrupt.
Getting Eve out of the picture was done lazily and pretty pointlessly. Would have loved Fab getting intimate with someone the series has invested in.
Not judging her for getting with Addison, they seemed nice (and hot!), but it was faster than Fab's ever moved.
Loved her calling out Ben for his condescension and cruel UN joke, and also how that led to him confessing that Devi broke his heart, and Fab realizing it was "that deep"
Eleanor:
Tumblr media
Perfect. No notes. She was a delight!
Good for her for wanting more than Trent was giving her.
Good for her for deciding to break up with Trent and not do the commercial because it was the right thing to do.
Good for her for recognizing Trent's kindred manipulative spirit.
Liked her having a relationship with Paxton. Getting along with your S.O.'s best friend is important!
Good for her for trying to help Paxton prepare Trent for Paxton leaving.
Excellent for her to have standards for losing her virginity. AMAZING how it all worked out for her. Loved the way they made it all come together, A+ all around!
Excuse me, her fashion? Amazing.
Paxton
Tumblr media
Never shipped Daxton, but honestly? He was a really good boyfriend. I liked him more this season than any other season.
He's used to moving fast, but not only did he want to go at Devi's pace, he didn't take advantage of her when she suggested they have sex because he could tell she was neither ready nor comfortable.
When Devi called him out for his past insensitive treatment of other girls, it didn't take a lecture from Rebecca for him to change his mind about apologizing. Instead, he just witnessed an exchange within his family and applied it to his own life, all on his own. (I honestly thought Devi was making too big a deal of it, but I liked what it did for the show.)
And when the rest of the girls demanded apologies, he didn't say he was just going to do the one, he apologized to every single girl.
I maybe liked him best in the Valentine's episode. He had a special date planned for Devi (a block of parmesan!) and he took time to set it up and make it look nicer than usual.
He saw Devi freaking out about that compatibility test, and he said it didn't matter what it said, he was with Devi so she was his chosen perfect match.
When he saw she was still freaking out, he did his best to allay her fears by getting the card from Eric. He could see his words weren't working, so he tried to make it okay on Devi's level. Could he have told her the truth and once again insisted some stupid quiz didn't matter? Yes, but having the card was a faster and, in Devi's mind, more convincing solution. I think she should have given him MAJOR credit for trying. Even though he's clearly a 30-year-old man, his character is a teenage boy, and I can totally see a teenage boy just wanting to fix it and move on.
He broke up with her honestly and directly. It wasn't his fault Devi felt inferior. He did his damn best, but good for him for not putting up with something that wasn't working for him.
He was very considerate about not jumping into a rebound relationship, even though he could have. He still cares about Devi, and he tried to talk to her maturely once he was with someone new, for all or didn't work.
He hung out with Eleanor. Getting along with your best friend's girlfriend is a good thing to do, and they more than got along, they bonded, enough that Paxton felt he could ask her for help.
He noticed the vibes between Aneesa and Fabiola and gave Fabiola good advice and an excellent practical demonstration of flirting. Instead of ignoring it, he was honestly helpful.
Taking Ben to the hospital and monitoring him there. Those were good scenes. He definitely didn't have to do that, but he saw Ben was in a tight spot and helped him out, even though they weren't really friends.
He asked Ben for help with his essay. That and him asking Eleanor for help with Trent showed him allowing himself to be vulnerable. Contrast that to season 3 when he kept Devi a secret because he was afraid of the shame. But this season, he's admitting he doesn't have it so together and sometimes he needs help.
His senior speech was good. The Devi shout-out was sweet, but even better was him ceding his time to the valedictorian.
Good for him for wanting to improve, asking for help, appreciating academics more, and moving on to his future, not getting hung up on the glory days of high school.
All in all, his best season yet. Very good sendoff for him.

Ok hear me out…
Cute little blurb where Spencer and his pregnant wife bicker about baby names? 🥹 Like she’s thinking kinda ordinary ones but he comes up with all the unique and special ones instead, idk if this makes sense lol
aw like that tiktok trend where it's the moms saying why the dads rejected certain names. also, btw, if you're name is one mentioned in this, i'm sorry, just going off some criticisms for the plot
"Okay, here's one." Spencer starts, flipping through the book of baby names he'd brought.
He insisted you wait to do this together and banned you from looking online- like a normal person would- until he found a book of names.
So there you are, sitting up against the headboard, under the covers as you sift through hundreds of names to find the perfect one for your perfect baby.
"Yeah?" You ask, fingers pausing on the trackpad of your laptop as you turn to look at him.
"Wren, it means small bird." He says, eagerly waiting for your reaction.
You giggle a little at him while you shake your head. "Wren Reid? Give the kid a chance."
"Oh." He realizes, looking like the news is hitting him all over again as his eyes gloss over with tears, happy tears. "They're going to be a Reid."
Seeing him tearful at the most seemingly insignificant moments only makes you so much surer that there's no one you'd rather do this with than him.
"Yeah, they are, so they need a name that's not so...rhyme-y." You direct him back to the book as you look back at your laptop. "Something noble like Spencer."
"Spencer came from the name for people who used to dispense goods to affluent households in Middle English." He recites to you, clearly having looked it up before.
You nod, continuing your search before hitting a name that you think could work. "Agnes."
He can't shake his head fast enough. "That's my great-grandmother's name, no way."
"Eleanor." You try.
"If it's in a Beatles song, it's too old." He rules.
"Damn, I guess that takes Rigby and Pepper off the table then, too." You joke, earning a fond eye roll and chuckle from him. "And you know Hotch would say the Beatles are timeless."
Spencer laughs at that. "Yeah, the guy who named his kid after an infamous serial killer." There's silent contemplation for a moment before Spencer's next idea comes. "River." He suggests.
"We're not celebrities, we can't name our kids' random nouns." You remind him.
"Kids? Plural?" He asks curiously.
Three had been the agreed number, but he knew how hard the past three months had been on you, and he wasn't going to hold you to any idyllic promise made before you were pregnant, or parents.
"Sure, as long as this one, or naming this one, isn't too unbearable." You answer with a shrug.
"You won't be unbearable." He says, although it's not to you, you realize when his hand touches your lower stomach. "Baby...Pascal." He tries out.
"The chameleon from Tangled?" You ask, a little shocked he was coming up with such unconventional names.
He frowns back at you, not getting the pop-culture reference. "Uh, maybe? It's cute, though."
"Yeah, for a chameleon." You agree. "How about Darcy? You love Jane Austen."
"Maybe." Finally, some sense of agreement. "Jane's nice too or Attie, like Atticus but for a girl."
You frown a little at him. "I really didn't think you'd be the one with the quirky suggestions."
"Neither." He agrees. "Are we going to struggle to come to a decision on this?"
There's a little bit of concern on his face which you're quick to wipe off. "No, we'll figure it out. Just nothing too old or too weird."
"Okay, I have the perfect one." He declares a few minutes later, closing the book and putting it on the side table as a sign of his devotion to the name. "Matilda."
You wait a minute to draw out suspense. "Yes, absolutely."

Never Have I Ever ...
s3 rewatch thoughts and fav small moments
❤ Kamala and Devi heart to heart about having sex
❤️ Paxton opening the car door for Devi after their date
❤️ Paxton knowing Devi was not ready for sex
❤️ Rebecca H.Y being a savage
❤️ Devi being a better friend: a) thinking of Fab during her first vday without Eve. b) when Eleanor was talking about her first time and tried to change the conversation thinking of Devi, and Devi put the focus back on El rather than letting the focus be on her. I'm sure there are more but I loved this growth for her.
❤️ Eleanor was such a supportive person through the season to Devi, Paxton, Trent
❤️ Trent knowing Eleanor would use him to advance her career and being okay as he supports her dreams. Like I know it may seem toxic, but them just being honest with each other from then on and accepting each other flaws and loving each other passionately. If they're endgame, I'll survive s4.
🤔 Paxton and Haley. Known each other forever. Lots of build up / moment leading to sex. Valentine test came back with 98% perfect match. Yet are not together. Sound familiar? Do I predict foreshadowing?
🤔 Eric's speech how he's trying to date someone hot so "I wouldn't be known as the person who lost his dad ..." as commentary to Devi’s actions. Ouch.
❤️ the paintball scene and Devi representing my competitive ass. Devi VS Paxton ... kinda hot ... until it wasn't if ykwim.
💔 the lyrics "I'll burn down and sleep in the warm ashes on the ground" playing during daxton breakup as parallel to daxton first kiss "I was on fire for you" ... and people want to try give me hope for s4. I'm still crying over this.
💔 when Paxton sees Devi with Des, that is not a look of jealousy my dude. That is heartbreak, sadness, pining, longing.
❤️ Paxton asking Eleanor and Ben how Devi is, because when he tried to ask her himself, it was too hard a conversation.
🤣 Alejandro and the Ed Shereen effect. Legit a thing.
❤️ Paxton's ability to read Aneesa x Fabs body language and the soft moment of giving Fabiola relationship advice.
❤️ "Not what you say. How you say it. Eye contact" ... Paxton prose may not be lyrical but I've said this 100x ... I love everything he's not saying. [Insert link of all the times and ways Paxton looks at Devi]
🤔 Paxton reflecting on his very physical and simple relationship with Phoebe. The set up for s4 daxton. I'm ready and waiting.
❤️ Andy Sandberg my love. Welcome back.
❤️ every wholesome interaction between Ben and Paxton in ep 6 and beyond
❤️ Ben being welcomed into the Hot Pocket fold. Pun intended. I love that for him.
❤️ Treleanor commentary of their relationship as set up to help s4 daxton. "We rile each other up and love each other down." "Thank you for pushing me." "You make me better."
❤️ Paxton and Devi 3x08 scene in her room. I LOVE a lamp scarf, he says with eye contact.
🤔 Daxton got away with months of hooking up. Des x Devi got busted within weeks. I still like to think Nalini knew Devi was seeing Paxton and turned a blind eye in secret approval for these reasons ... a) she knew about Kamala and Steve. b) she knew Devi was crying over a boy. c) Nalini says nothing gets by her and that she'll be installing cameras at Devis window.
❤️ Paxton's college(s) acceptance moment. Eleanor's reactions were too cute while Trent broke my Traxton heart
💔 Trent choking up when he goes to apologise to Paxton for getting mad. Seriously, I love his character and Ben Norris' range for dramedy is 😘👌
❤️ Mohan x Nalini are couple goals. Knowing how to calmly talk sense into Nalini but also encourage her pettiness by subscribing the mean girls to spam. I'm here for it.

🚨 NHIE SPOILERS BELOW 🚨
first of all. that was a crazy ass season. so much happened and i can barely keep up or remember. so while this probably won't be a coherent or well worded recap, yhat defintely won't go over everything that i just watched for the past six hours, it'll just be my thoughts for now.
personally, i really liked the kamala plot and her struggle in the workplace. it was probably one of my favorite parts of the season. i'm not sure if kamala will be ditching prashant for mr. kulkarni but if she does i wouldn't be shocked. considering how prashant played into the whole workplace problem. also rip steve lol who remembers him. homie got done dirty.
now speaking of devi. there were many things she did this season that were not at all good or rational. however, i do like the fact that they delved more into her grief, and overall she actually seemed to develop over the season which made me happy. there are aspects of her grieving process that kinda felt unanswered, but hey, it is what it is. for what it's worth, im happy with the amount of growth she had over ten episodes. i actually felt like giving devi a hug so many times towards the end. and maitreyi killed it as always.
regarding the new kids! malcolm, well, i honestly kinda have intense apathy towards him as a character. he was cool at the start, a dick at the end—so yeah, i feel like he served his purpose overall. i felt extremely bad for oliver the entire time. and aneesa! she was the coolest addition they could honestly have had to the team. she's fun, charming, and fits in very well. i felt extreme sympathy for her ed and im glad they put a hotline at the end of those episodes. she's a great girl.
i'm very glad they gave paxton more of a well fleshed out personality this season. he seemed much more personable overall. although i felt like his episode at times fell a bit flat or felt too preachy regarding the whole hot people can be smart too concept, it was overall a fantastic episode and gigi hadid was a great choice as narrator. also loved the little switch to ben's pov when andy steps in. that was funny. i also liked the fact that they went into his ethnicity!
regarding his romantic feelings for devi though. i feel like i can't understand? like does he like her? does he not? is he embarassed of her? is he not? i failed to understand where he was most of the time. the mixed signals, like. paxton. i like you, but huh? well, to be fair, the romance in devi's life this season was pretty much a rollercoaster ride anyways so. i do love paxton's obijan though. great guy. we didn't get enough of rebecca though!
out of the two besties, i honestly liked fab's story a lot more. it felt relatable, that whole feeling of not being able to fit in as a new sapphic. and i adore fab and eve. i'm glad they didnt make their relationship too cookie cutter.
eleanor's subplot was alright. again, it was really hard to kinda, if i put this blatantly, give a fuck about malcolm and whatever their relationship was. (loved tyler alveraz's performance though) but i liked her talking with her stepmom sharon. i wish they spent more time on that rather than malcolm but again, they don't have much time to waste.
i loved nalini's subplots. all of them. she was honestly one of my fav characters this season, as well as devi's grandma. we got to delve into the indian culture more too, so that was very cool. her relationship with dr. jackson was also nice for the short time they had with each other. i didn't expect them to breakup, i kinda just expected devi to learn to be okay with her mother moving on, but then again, i also agree that it felt a little fast. i loved the flashbacks with mohan too.
i feel like i wanna save ben and benvi for last because i have too much to say. it was an absolute rollercoaster ride to be a team ben while watching this season. i'm a bit dissapointed that we didn't get any individual plot regarding him, stuff that didn't have to do with girls, but i get why. he got that in s1, and it was paxton's turn to shine.
regarding the whole ben and aneesa thing; honestly, i think they're cute. i love aneesa and i love ben. i just want him to be happy. but it's clear he still has feelings for devi and he doesn't really know what he wants, which sucks for everyone involved. i think that he just assumed that devi liked paxton more than him, that he was her second choice (which honestly, considering the things that transpired, it's not very hard to see why he though that, and he was clearly hurt with her clear choice of paxton over him on multiple occassions) but oh well.
i feel like ben was a catalyst for a lot of the things devi needed to do. like apologize to aneesa, for example. and in that way, they still work well. i loved their banter, whenever we got it. i have hope for them in season 3 (if it happens), considering the way they ended it, but eh. aneesa is also a great girl, so it sucks that this is the direction we're going. but yeah. i am a bit bitter with the dreadf lack of benvi i kinda got this season, but their conversations and the way he helped push her development did make me feel a little better.
as for what team i'm on or whatever, i don't feel like i'm avidly on any team tbh. i'm still lowkey rooting for ben and devi. the reason why i'm not completely getting behind daxton is because i didn't really like what paxton did in episode 10, with the whole not wanting them to be public thing. the entire season felt like he was sending mixed signals. not that i'm saying hes a shitty guy or anything, but yeah. and the reason i'm not completely team ben is because he seems to be teetering between aneesa and devi, so yes, again with the mixed signals. kind of. but the reason i'm still rooting for ben is because i really liked the way they pushed each other, or majorly, he pushed her development, with asking her to apologize, etc. and although him getting together with anessa was not a win for me, a benvi, to relish, i think it helped devi learn to act a little more mature and less territorial.
if i'm being completely honest, i think that devi needed to be single at the end of this season, at least for now. i read the synopsis of episode 10 and was kinda hoping that she'd make that choice, that she'd choose herself, because what she needs isn't a boyfriend. what she needs is just to recover. and i honestly still don't feel like she completely got over her dad's death.
OVERALL THOUGH. this was a much better season than the first one. i feel like they finally got into their groove in terms of acting and comedy. (also trent is the funniest >>>) although i felt like this season was kinda like the first one but on steroids, which at most times was very anxiety inducing to watch, i did like the episodes and i was heavily entertained. go watch it!
i also really need a season 3 so—
