hi, i just want to let everyone know, if any of you are frustrated with the state of TS4, i've compiled several different tutorials and made an all-in-one guide for playing TS2 on modern computers. it has all the fixes necessary to prevent crashes + pink flashing, and tips to make the game look just as nice as TS4, if not better!

please let me know if this guide is useful for you, or if anything needs to be changed/added/removed. i've tested it myself on multiple computers, and, while it works for me, there are many possibilities for error, considering that everyone's computer is different.

I know the series hasn't ended yet, but I'm proposing an alternate ending with what I assume would be a similar level of consistency.

Class 2A is going about the clean up(because for some reason, winning the war wasn't enough work for them to do for the useless adults), there's a slapstick violence gag, Midoriya gets hit in the head, and it fades to black...

He wakes up in a hospital bed, no muscles, no scars, no quirk. He's 14 again. The last 2 years never happened. All Might didn't save him from the Sludge Villain. He never got One for All. He never got into UA. The war never happened. The Sludge Villain had been puppeteering his body for three days before getting caught. Everything had been a comatose hallucination.

He's in a daze, gets discharged from the hospital, and goes to school the next day. When he sees how Bakugou still treats him, Midoriya realizes how bad it really is. "You told me to take a swan dive off the roof. When I was gone, did you ever worry that I did?"

We don't get an answer.

"You could be a great hero, Kac-Bakugou. If only you could learn to care about anyone but yourself."

Midoriya goes to Dagobah beach after school, still covered in mountains of garbage. We see bandages on him.

I've been seeing a lot of posts lately talking about how no one comments/reblogs/replies/etc anymore, and, as someone who comments regularly on a lot of fanworks, it sometimes makes me wonder if my efforts are worth anything. Then I remember how much happiness I get from comments on my own work/posts and how much the community of fandom can matter, and I remember the power that can be found in spreading joy instead of disappointment.

i am still and will forever be in absolute pieces about the difference between the first line in the first* manuscript draft of charmed life and the first line in the published editions. LOOK at this:

first line of charmed life, from the first manuscript draft:

Cat ^Chant did not like his sister Gwendolen particularly.

first line of charmed life in all published editions:

Cat Chant admired his elder sister Gwendolen.

i mean!!! its so simple and so obvious but so essential. in the published book, cat never states outright that he dislikes gwendolen, and that is SUCH a clue for the reader, because gwendolen is the worst, and so you are sitting there going: am i missing something?? why does cat not absolutely loathe his awful sister?? but if you are writing this story from scratch, you have to get the obvious out there from the get go: cat doesnt like his sister, and why? because nobody likes his sister. nobody likes gwendolen. because she's the worst.

now, you can't keep that line in revisions, obviously. you have to say something else, because the whole point is that cat doesn't know how awful gwendolen is. but it's a really good concept for an opening line, because you have to set up their dynamic first thing. so what can you say that cat feels about gwendolen? well, he... he doesn't like her. but she is all that he has, and in his eyes, she's competent and, well, admirable. plus you want to add their birth order, so you add elder. and you remove those little hedge words, "did not like," "particularly": those are such weak words to use in the first line. but, that hedging weakness is very accurate to gwendolen-influenced cat, so she's got that element of his character down immediately. and cat wouldn't say "hate" or "dislike" after all, and would add "particularly" to soften the blow. so while it's accurate characterization, it's just not a very good first line. so to be clear, that first draft line isn't a failure at all. it still serves to frame cat's character, even if it states the unstated, and it gets the novel's most important dynamic front and center.

*: first available. there were no earlier ms drafts in the archive, this is the only handwritten draft, and it seemed like a first draft literarily. if there's been research stating otherwise since 2015, which is when i last did a formal check-in on dwj chrestomanci scholarship, lmk.

^: a ^ in my notes always referred to text added later. so, dwj added "Chant" in after she wrote out the sentence. i might have a picture of this? i need to check my manuscript copies. anyway, it's so true that cat chant sounds better in a first line than just cat. plus, if you have "Cat" as a name as the very first word of a sentence, that C is definitely going to be capitalized, so adding his last name makes it clear that this is a person's name. plus plus, chant is, of course, a surname of all time, and thus perfect to introduce Immediately.

Hey Beans-

Hey beans, I have a bit of a hellish update. 

Yesterday was one of the worst days of my life. My grandma made a huge fight happen while I was on call with a friend, and things just escalated between me and her so badly I had to leave. When I came back home, my family was also on my ass about it all, despite knowing how she lies and how she instigates. 

She threatened to hit me, she threatened to kill Sammy, she hurled insult after insult at me and this all started because I didn't get up in time to do something she asked (Which was locking the door. I waited three seconds too long and she went off). 

When I came back after trying to let things cool down I was berated and told I had no right to be so “selfish” in the house, so on and so on, and the fight got so intense I had to just physically walk away, leaving the home and going two miles up the road because I did not feel safe. 

They made me so sick I began to pee blood again, as well as my sugar spiking and causing me to have palpitations. My heart cannot take this stress anymore, and neither can my mental health. I wish I could explain how bad the situation was. I had tears down my face, gasping for air, chest heaving and in pain, I felt like I was on the verge of passing out. 

I got in contact with some good friends of mine, who say they can help get me out of not only that home, but the entire state i'm in. But I need money to do so, for travel and gas and so on. As much as they can house me, they need me to pull my weight. 

I hate having to ask for help, I hate that I'm even in this situation, to the point I'm so sick I might have to be seen in the ER or sent to ICU. 

I need to come up with 700 dollars, and I'm willing to do some commissions, but with how sick I am I may take a bit to get back with you. I plan to leave by early June, if not the beginning of July, as that's when my friends are able to drive down and get me.
