Y/n stared at the flashing numbers on the digital clock in the boardroom and huffed quietly. The table in front of her was covered in a mix of shredded mozzarella cheese and vibrant, red pizza sauce. Flour with evidence of handprints and bits of pizza dough decorated the wood and the woman internally sighed at the thought of clean up. Eventually she would have to get back to work.

Lando was on his phone across the table from her, and she fought the urge to stare at him. Oscar had left a while ago, having an earlier flight than them out of Canada. Lando and her had made the executive decision to stay and finish the pizza the two men had made during the "not my hands" YouTube challenge. It was messy, and didn't fully resemble a proper pizza, but it tasted good enough if not a little bit burnt. The two had been sitting in a comfortable silence for the time being while they ate.

In the time Y/n had gotten to know the British man, both on and off the track, she found herself warming up to him considerably. He was kinder than she gave him credit for at the beginning of the season, and far funnier. She could see now that more often than not he spoke without thinking or having any consideration, and maybe he was more than a little bit arrogant, but he also felt things deeply and cared passionately.

Before she could think about what she was doing, Lando's eyes met hers and he smirked. Y/n's face burned but she rolled her eyes at him and took another bite of their burnt pizza. Her ears caught the sound of him placing his phone on the table, and when she looked up again he was leaning his body across the table and toward her instead.

"What are you staring at? Hm?" He teased and she scoffed.

"You," she started and took another bite of her pizza, "have pizza sauce all over your face, you idiot. And I'm just thinking, not sure if you're familiar with the concept." He grabbed a napkin quickly and began wiping rapidly at his chin and mouth, and even his nose. She couldn't help but laugh loudly. There was nothing on his face. He was perfect actually. Unfortunately.

"Did I get it? Why didn't you tell me sooner, traitor!" She doubled over but nodded anyways.

"What are you thinking about?" he questioned as he settled back down.

"Just the season, you and Oscar," she muttered.

"Me? Thinking of little ol' me when I'm right here in front of you," she rolled her eyes with a groan.

"You have selective hearing Lando," he laughed and nodded.

"Well what have you thought about it? The season I mean. And myself of course, don't care much what you think about Osc," he leaned on his hand and stared at her intently. Y/n couldn't help that being stared at by Lando felt a little bit like being ocean, being pulled and pushed by the moon's gravity. Her brain didn't work properly around him.

Or maybe I'm just really dramatic and he's just hot, she thought miserably, Probably the latter.

"I just think maybe you and me got off on the wrong foot," she said as she fumbled with the lid of her water bottle, "and I think that maybe I enjoy this job a lot more than I thought I would." The comments seemed to sober Lando's mood up slightly.

Maybe I shouldn't have been truthful. Maybe it shouldn't have been that serious.

"What did you think of me?" He asked quietly. "When you met me I mean."

"Do you want me to be honest?" He looked at her quizzically.

"Of course I want you to be honest Y/n, or I wouldn't have asked."

"I thought you were kind of an asshole," she whispered and he laughed.

"So the beef was real for you," he smiled slightly and she let her face fall gently into her hands.

"Yeah," she breathed out a laugh, "yeah maybe a little."

"Doesn't seem like a little," he goaded and she shot him a glare.

"Okay Lord Lando, maybe more than a little," he pointed at her triumphantly.

"AHA! So it was the instagram comment. I thought you knew I was kidding," A loud groan filled the room as she smacked her head on the table. Lando's giggling could probably be heard down the hall but Y/n found she didn't care all that much anymore.

"It wasn't just the instagram comment," she defended weakly. There was a brief silence as Lando stared into space and shook his head.

"Wow... I can't believe you were actually mad at me and I just didn't know."

"It wasn't that big of a deal I guess, I just felt like you didn't really take me seriously."

"Well I mean you're not a very serious person," Y/n's heart fell to her stomach.

"What?" She asked, staring at him. She couldn't have heard him right.

"Well it's just that you're not very serious are you? Like since I met you, it's never felt like you were a serious sort of person." He added as if that was some sort of defense.

As if that isn't more hurtful.

"You're not like Zak or Andrea, or really anyone else here you know? You're just you, you're different. It was hard to be serious with you here because that's just who you are." He continued.

God just shut up, please for the love of God just shut up.

"This is my place of work Lando," she muttered bitterly. "I mean do you hear yourself." His eyes widened and he put his hands out placatingly. Like she was some sort of rabid animal he needed to calm down.

"No no no," he muttered quickly and stood up to round the table, "that's not what I meant Y/n, you know that."

"Stop Lando, just stop," she said as she began to clear off the table.

Why did she expect him to be different. What made her think he could've changed.

"You made it perfectly clear what you mean. What you think of me and of my work, my career" she spit out, swiping everything on the table into the trash. They hadn't finished eating the pizza and now it was in the bin, but Lando didn't deserve to eat the pizza she helped him make. He didn't deserve to be here at all. He wasn't her friend, he was her coworker and nothing else. It was better she accept that now.

"You misunderstood what I said," he grabbed her arm to stop her from cleaning and she whipped it out of his grasp.

"Stop Lando," she said raising her voice. She knew her eyes were teary but she didn't care. She knew her face was red with embarrassment and her hands were shaking with the force of her humiliation but she didn't care. Lando Norris could go fuck himself.

He looked at her in shock and winced as he saw her face. She steeled herself. She had never cried over a man before, why would she do it now.

"You need to leave, you have a flight in the morning," she said emotionlessly. "And I have to clean so I can go home." He tried to speak and she put her hand up, stepping away from him.

"Get out please, you're in my way," she said and his brows scrunched. He was angry? Good, so was she.

"I'm in your way?" He asked incredulously, as if she didn't have any reason to be upset. "You're not even going to hear me out?" He scoffed.

"No Lando, I don't have time for this. I have a job to do and you're in my way," she said emphasizing the words as if speaking to a child. His face fell. He looked angry.

"Whatever Y/n. What fucking ever," he muttered, grabbing his bag and storming out. Y/n waited. Footsteps in the hallways continued until a far off door slammed.

Y/n wilted like an unwatered plant as tears began to fall.

So much for friends.

She knew deep down she was hurt about much more than just friendship.

- I mentioned before that they go to the banquets together post-TKM. Did I mention they match their outfits? Allison in a gorgeous long emerald green dress and Kevin with a green tie and handkerchief. The only colour that they don’t match is the one time Allison decides to wear a red dress - Kevin refuses to wear red with his suits, even if it’s on top of a white shirt instead of a black one.

- When it comes to hooking up, they have no shame around each other AT ALL. They have that kind of relationship, and they’re so on the same page about the FWB situation, that there’s literally nothing they won’t do or try with each other just for the sake of it. - When Kevin starts getting into hobbies outside of Exy, and tries his hand at photography, she is ALWAYS willing to model for him. Granted, he mostly just takes photos of mundane life and beautiful things, not staged photo shoots, but she will never, ever tell him not to take a photo of her. Yes mostly because she loves photos of herself, but she also sees how his face lights up when he takes a nice one, and she loves seeing him passionate about something other than Exy.

You draw Logan and Scott ‘s physiques so well! Do you use references for drawing muscular physiques or what did you study to get good and make it stylized?

I’ve never found great references to study from but I’m really curious how you practiced and got so good at it?

OMG im so flattered! fr im definitely still learning and im not super confident with my art yet but i'll do my best to answer and maybe it will be helpful!

To answer the first part i always ALWAYS use reference but maybe not in the typical way. Usually i'll try and do the sketch from my mind but im the type who frequently forgets how to draw so i'll usually end up using reference. Typically i have multiple reference categories because 1. it helps avoid just copying others stuff 2. you learn more deeply i find

Here are my typical reference categories

Poses: i tend not to look for poses that look like the character because i think you can get bogged down trying to copy it exactly so for example i'll use a pic with a woman when drawing a man. I also highly recommend using videos if possible you can find alot of great stuff on youtube so for example if im looking for acting reference i'll often watch an always sunny clip (because the i find that the actors have really great hand acting) or for let's say a fight scene ill look up something from an action movie i like, I do this alot because im working on alot of storyboards and animation rn so seeing things frame by frame is very important. In addition i've been studying alot of x men comics because they have some really great fight scenes specifically all new x men. Further note, I usually try to draw the pose by eyeballing it but if im struggling then ill trace over the pic breaking down the forms and then draw it again using the breakdown as a reference (also u dont have to do this but my goodness it helps, is to draw the pose again from memory without looking at the reference I do this alot especially when animating because i want to build a visual library)

STYLE: One of the things which i think is a big hurdle if you're trying to learn anatomy or more specifically how to draw it in a way you find both easy and appealing is just going from irl pics. This is where studying from other artists is essential for me at least because im naked and afraid 99% of the time when it comes to art. So what i'll do is usually breakdown an artist's work that i like down trying to get into their mindset usually; How are they simplfying the form; what shapes are they using and why. I think it's good to micro focus at first so let's say you're finding forearms tricky then just breakdown how the artist draws forearms then draw your version and COMPARE seeing what's different between your version and the artist. Then i might get some irl pics of the subject and im like ok im x artist and i try my best to draw the part in their style, you know kinda imagining how the artist you like distills the same info. I reference a great deal of artists because they all have a great deal of knowledge but also you dont just want to copy one.

ANATOMY: Im the type that usually wants to apply anatomy immediately to what im working on rather than just doing endless drills because it's one thing to draw an arm for example as u usually see in reference which is by the side and completely different when the arm is actually doing something. There are a ton of great resources out there for anatomy but for me at least i think it's important to find references that simplify because again i think building a visual library is best. So for me usually i'll whip out the anatomy reference when im stuck on something and cant remember how to draw it

THE CHARACTER: with some characters like scott i usually dont need a reference but with logan and his silly hair it is essential. since with these two there are so many comics there is a ton of great reference

Further thoughts:

One of the things which i think is super essential at least for me is to try and force yourself to draw from imagination because it's very easy to get stuck in a learning cycle if that makes sense. A nice way to ease yourself into it is to start modifying your pose from the reference so let's say you've drawn the character sitting on a chair now draw it so they're leaning forward or to the side whatever you want! you can also try drawing from a more exaggerated perspective or from a completely different angle! Finally i think it's a great way to loosen up to just doodle poses with no reference just whatever tickles your fancy for this it helps to have a shorthand that you feel you can draw at any angle so even stick figures can work nicely!

i found especially for drawing muscular characters it is best to try cartoony simplification because the anatomy can be quite overwhelming. When i first started to draw logan i used his character sheet from x men evolution and would doodle random poses and then using the model sheet as reference try to put him on model (basically the mindset was what would the animators on the show do) it was really fun and because i had these simple but clear logans adding more detailed anatomy was super easy!

So to elaborate id find lets say a reference of someone eating a salad and then id draw logan in the style of x men evolution eating a salad.

What about Sal with a reader who’s got a very dominant personality.she’s very outspoken and confident,always talking back and intimidating bullies right back.

I’m not quite sure how to title this so I’ll just go right into it xD

Sal had been dating you for a few months before he actually noticed how outspoken and confident you were. He found himself completely in awe of your bravery and strength of character and the way he seemed to find out about your personality was due to an occurrence near school.

One day, outside of school, a group of bullies had decided to approach Sal, upon knowing you weren’t there. They threw a few hits and went on with consistent name calling, in which Sal tensed up, unsure of what to do, despite his quick come backs to the name calling. Soon enough, however, you marched over.

Each bully seemed to freeze in place as you glared them down, hand on your hip and you happened to leave crescent marks on your skin due to your nails slowly digging into your hip. You were beyond pissed that these people thought they could treat your boyfriend like that. You gently moved Sal behind you, standing in front of him with your eyes still narrowed, “I’d advise that each of you fuckers back off before I do something we’ll all regret,” you spoke. Your tone of voice cold and your expression not wavering.

Sal seemed to look at you in shock but also in awe. The other people almost instantly nodded, not wanting to know exactly what you meant before they practically scurried away. You turned to face Sal, moving some of your hair behind your ear then smiled softly at him, your expression shifted to a kinder one. Sal sighed quietly, shaking his head before raising an eyebrow from beneath his prosthetic, “you know..I could have handled that,” he rubbed the back of his neck after speaking and you simply laughed softly, placing a kiss to the forehead of his prosthetic then smiled yet again, “I know Sal..I know.”

Later that day, when the two of you went back to your place, Sal had thought back on what had happened and a smile crossed his expression. He couldn’t help but tell you how much he admired your courage. You blinked a few times, becoming quite bashful before a more confident expression replaced that and you smiled, “well, I’m glad you admire that and just remember, I’ll always have your back.” With that, you gently caressed his cheek, your smile still present as you did so.

In that moment, Sal knew that he had found the perfect woman for him; someone who was fearless, confident and outspoken, yet still loved and respected him.

i love love love love the chimera character in your icon!! did you make them? if you did, do youve detail pics and/or wip pictures? i really want to make / modify a sensory plush for myself so i love the addition of things like the teether tail and would love to see all the little beastie's features and learn more about them if youre ok with sharing!! and in general, do you ever post WIPs or tips abt sewing?? thanks for your time and sharing your amazing work with us!

First off, yes I do have a few bits and pieces of sewing advice in my plushie advice tag! There could always be more, though…

I’m glad you enjoy my chimera, I love him too! He was such fun to make and come up with all the babyish details for, and I’m very proud of him.

I don’t really have wip pics of the chimera (since I was kind of in The Zone making him) but I can take you on a, uh, short tour of his features, that sounds fun!

The baby boy himself… lots of pictures and words under the cut!

Here are the first doodles of him as I came up with his design! I was trying to make a cute lion/lamb (the meanings of the two parts of my irl name!) which is basically a chimera already, and the combination of primary colours, rainbows, and a cloud-like wool mane made the weather theme just happen.

Obviously I just had to sew this! He already looked just like a colourful baby toy.

Here is his lovely little face. I took style inspiration from a lion toy I had already, and to keep him accurate to a baby-toy style, I used embroidery stitches to make his face rather than any “choking hazards” like plastic eyes. I’ve not really used embroidery before so it was pretty hard to do neatly!

He’s also got ribbon loops for whiskers (or are they sun rays?) and you can also see a bit of star-textured minky fabric on his face and ears. Fun textures are important!

His mane is made with a super soft and fluffy fur fabric. Maybe not strictly “baby safe” since it can slightly shed fibres, but it’s very nice, and I’m not exactly a real baby lol. His horns have a nice ridged texture, you’ll see what those were made from in a moment…

Oh, I also added a banana scent chip from Build-a-Bear into his little head, because I love that smell. He’s a multi-sensory plush alright.

His front paws have some noises in them! In the red one is a squeaker, and the blue one is a rattle. You can buy these especially for putting in toys, but the rattle I used in him was actually just a little plastic capsule with a few beads inside like pictured!

All four paws have a bumpy rubbery texture on them. Rather appropriately, they are made from actual baby socks! I found a multipack of different colours that matched my planned colours perfectly by sheer luck.

The ridged horn material came from the top of the red sock!

Here is the tummy, also made with a star textured fabric. It has a cylindrical chime inside which makes a lovely musical jingling sound when he’s tipped around.

While bean filling probably isn’t baby safe either, I did put a beanbag in his bottom because I like a bit of weight and it helps him sit nice.

The wings have matching dimple textured minky on one side and smooth minky on the other. I feel like dimple minky is a must if you want to make a babyish toy!

Inside the wings are some pieces of (clean) cereal packet to give them a light crinkle sound. You can buy crinkly material especially for this too, which can be a lot noisier! He’s actually very quiet as crinkly toys go, but I’m okay with this.

He’s got some little raindrop patches made from dotty cotton, with more embroidered edges which I recall having a lot of difficulty with… looks good though! As well as textures, you gotta include some fun visual patterns in a baby toy too.

And finally, the tail! A thick rainbow ribbon holding a cloud shaped teether - another lucky find in a baby shop! It came attached to a squeaky sun and crinkly rainbow, currently held by another toy.

Originally I’d simply stitched the end of the ribbon in place around the teether, but then I got some plastic snaps (for making bandanas with!) and found they gave it a much nicer finish.

ok so like. vic escapes the youtube video. and they find the freedom ad and instantly go into the outernet. theyre one of the first citizens of carteblan, and exactly the type of stick freedom had set out to help when he started a city in the outernet.

(for a little context; the original victim is still dead, as well as all her clones. in my hc/theory, the victim we know who starts rocket corp and lives in the outernet escaped from a youtube video after basically just living out his own death in a fucked up loop over and over until she gained sentience and decided to break out. she's like. a copy of the original victim. haha xerox of a xerox.)

in the beginning, most of the houses in carteblan are still being built, so vic ends up rooming with freedom. and they were roommates. they become friends pretty quickly and freedom tries to help vic come to terms with their trauma and stuff, (he doesn't know that vic escaped from the youtube video --- vic is insecure about being a copy so they lied and said they just survived the deletion and got to the outernet).

they both get happier together even after vic decides to move out and start their own company. freedom's happy that vic's moving on from what noogai did to them and becoming their own person (hahaaa if only he knewwww,,,). freedom also decides to support the company as it's the first proper organization thing to open up in the town and it's pretty useful! as carteblan grows, freedom gets officially appointed as mayor and rocket corp kind of becomes tied in with the government, giving them tech and stuff.

i don't think freedom and vic ever properly label their relationship as anything other than a friendship, though they do go on dates and stuff pretty frequently. its pretty queerplatonic actually. vic likes to spend time with freedom a lot because he makes it feel like a normal person, a good person who's doing what's right for society. for freedom, hanging out with vic is like a breath of fresh air, one of the few things that didn't change after he was given responsibility over and entire city of traumatized stickfigures.

sometimes vic has major depressive episodes where its difficult for him to do any work which makes him even more frustrated, and freedom is the only person she really considers close enough to help. they remind me of that one short where the couple text each other "feet pics" to get each other out of bed when they're sad.

honestly, when i think about it, i'm pretty sure freedom is the only person vic actually considers a friend. most other people she hangs out with, she only vaguely likes, and a lot of the time she has to pretend to like people for pr. (in my hc, their relationship with the mercs is purely transactional, and i doubt either party is looking for more.)

both freedom and vic have insecurities about their relationships with other people; freedom has gotten into multiple romantic relationships over the years, though none of them have really stuck, and he often feels like people only like him for his power. vic feels like that too, but with the added feeling of "if people knew the real me, they'd hate me". they lie to everyone, so they feel like everyone's lying to them in return, with the exception of freedom, who's only ever been honest (and vic convinces herself that she's not lying when she says she's happier now and that rocket corp is working for a good cause).

freedom's probably unsure about the idea of capturing chosen (and dark?) at first, but vic manages to convince him by talking about how many people have been hurt by them and lost their home websites/games because of them. the capture is left up to rocket corp alone, since it was their idea, and since by this point rocket corp is basically just the military but if it also sold household tech. freedom's proud of vic for taking the steps to help keep other people safe after vic has frequently beat themself up for acting 'selfishly'.

spoiler alert: freedom gets called to the rocket facility after a massive fight is reported and the place basically blows up, and finds the color gang + chodark + kingduo + the mercs + vic and several other workers all badly hurt with signs of them having gotten into a fight. freedom automatically takes vic's side, because those are two terrorists fighting against fucking Rocket Corp, of course he's going to assume vic's in the right here.

but then cg and kingduo explain the situation (including the torture and the interrogation and sutff), and while freedom doesn't want to believe it, vic refuses to answer when freedom asks if it's true, and freedom knows in his heart that vic was the 'villain' here.

freedom is just. extremely disappointed in vic. and vic in turn feels horrible, because she was convinced freedom would take her side, having seen the ugliest parts of her and accepting her regardless. but freedom thought that vic had moved on, that she no longer wanted revenge, that she was happier.

he can't bring himself to formally arrest vic, much to the protests of cg+kingduo+chodark. they're best friends, after all, and freedom knows from his experience with his own animator that hurt people hurt people. but vic still needs to face consequences, and freedom knows more than anyone else what would hurt vic the most. he strips vic of his power, removing him from the position of the ceo of rocket corp and saying the government is going to take full control of it.

he also says that he's going to completely cut contact with her.

this hurts vic more than anything else, being abandoned by the one person she considered a friend, close to a lifelong partner, all because of her own actions. even after mango and purple decide to help pick vic off hir feet and become a better person, vic spirals, shutting out everyone else and refusing to connect with anyone.

it's only when mango lets vic stay with him after she loses all her property, continuously being kind to them even after seeing what a horrible person they are (because he's been in their place), that vic starts to open up.

this DOES lead to vic beginning to put mango on a pedestal the same way he did with freedom, but i mean, people don't change THAT easily. it'll probably take a few talks with purple to help break the cycle, since purple also struggles with idolizing people (albeit in a different way). i could say So much about victim and purple helping each other become better people but this is so long and also that's off topic so that's a ramble for another day.

"Soooo how did the date go! "My friend Lucy screamed down the phone, almost deafening me in the process.

"Was he cute !? Did he pay!? DID YOU KISS!?!?" She continued to bombard me with her neverending list of questions.

"OK ok ok." I chuckled, trying to calm her down. " He...he was really cute, actually." I blushed thinking of his adorable messy hair.

"Girl I knew he'd be cute!" Lucy replied excited. " What did you guys talk about?!"

"Oh well just our interests, jobs and things like that."

"Where does he work then? " asked Lucy whilst I got up to make some coffee, phone in one hand, mug in another.

"He said he worked for the government but it was pretty confidential."

"Ooooo, a spy! That's hot."

"No, lucy, he's not a spy!" I scoffed. "He said he was involved with accounting , besides, he seems too nice to do something like that." I said whilst boiling the water.

"Well you never know, anyway tell me more, what was his name again, something hippy like uhhh Tree or Brooke?!"

I rolled my eyes.

"River, his name is River Cartwright."

"Righttttt River, so what does he look like exactly, did you sneak a pic!?"

"I actually did ." I laughed, plopping myself down unto my cosy chair overlooking the city with my coffee in hand.

"SEND IT!" She let out another scream. Finding the photo I managed to take whilst he was unaware I smiled to myself looking at it whilst sending to Lucy.

"Oh my gosh! Y/n he's so cute!" She squealed and I laughed at her reaction.

"Yea I...I actually had a good time." I smiled

"I'm glad it's time you moved on from that asshole."

I froze. Even the mention of him brought me back to those moments.

"Yea well....umm I guess we'll see." I laughed nervously, playing with the sleave of my jumper.

"He treated you horribly y/n and none of it was your fault! But not all men are like him, and I'm sure you'll find someone who will treat you like the princess you are!"

"Lucy, you are so dramatic." I laughed." But thanks for the support, going on a date today... was a big deal, I've been too afraid to trust a man like that since..."

"Y/n you don't have to explain yourself, I understand, and if this River is a good man then he will understand aswell."

"Thanks and - OH!" I shouted, jumping at the notification on my phone.

"OH!? " Lucy repeated, confused.

"River, text me, Lucy. Like he texted me first!" I couldn't help but feel excited, quickly taping the notification.

"What did he say! What did he say!?"

"Oh..." I looked at the message, a wave of nerves flooding my body.

"What?" Lucy persisted.

"He asked if I wanted to go on another date tomorrow. "

"So? That's great!" She exclaimed

"Yea but...he's asking if I want to go round his place for dinner." I whispered chewing my nails with nervousness.

"Oh." Lucy mumbled , she knew going on a date was a big step for me, let alone going to his house for a date.

"Well that's really sweat of him but if you feel uncomfortable-"

"No." I cute her of " I'm gonna go, I'm not gonna let what happened control my life now." I spoke with determination fighting the fear.

"Well if that's what you want." Lucy commented. "I'm really happy for you."

"Thanks, I'm gonna message back that I'll be there at 7."

The next day

I stood outside the door, adjusting my hair, my jewellery, my dress, anything to put off knocking on the actual door. A text from Lucy saying" good luck girl xx" gave me the final push. Here we go

Knock knock

After a few seconds, I heard chains at the door for it to be then flung open.

"Hi!" River spoke rushed." The food is about to burn, so uh, I'll be back with you in 1 minute!" He nervously laughed and ran back in.

I stood in the doorway, not exactly knowing what to do as I could hear him frantically running around the kitchen. Suddenly, his head popped around the corner.

"Oh, come in! "

"OK." I laughed slightly at the state he was in though he still managed to look adorable with a grey jumper on, sleeves rolled up and hair all of the plave. " Do you want any help?" I asked, looking round his apartment.

"It's ok, I think I've managed to save it." He laughed, coming out. "It's great seeing you again." He smiled, bringing me into a hug. To say I was socked was an understatement, but I felt ....relaxed. A sense of comfort came over me as I felt his arms wrap around my body, his tall figure standing over mine, holding me close. I wanted to stay like this forever, I've only been on one date with him and I already feel like I want to to tell him everything that happened, tell him I want to just be loved and protected, but that would just freak him out. What would he think if I told him how I craved affection but at the same time feared it.

"So." He smiled as he pulled away . "You ready for food?"

"Uh yea sure." I smiled, trying to hide my rosy cheeks.

Later

We sat at his dining table, talking , laughing just being comfortable with eachothers presence whilst we ate. I couldn't believe how I could myself with him.

"This is so delicious I smiled.

"You really think so? "

"Yea, you're a very good cook. I'm impressed. "

He laughed and looked down, playing with his fork.

"Well if I'm being honest this wasn't all me." He spoke with slight nerves, glancing up sheepishly.

"Oh?"

"Before you arrived, I was on the phone with one of my co-workers , Louisa she was helping me not ruin the meal."

"Aw, well, that's so sweat of her." I smiled."You didn't have to fuss for me, though."

"Oh no you deserve a good meal." He spoke with a warm smile. I could have just sat that and stared into his eyes.

Trying to not embarrass myself, I reached for the salt, but in my haist , my arm mocked into the glass, smashing it to the floor. My eyes grew wide with horror, and the once relaxed feeling turned into one of fear and dread.

"I...I'm so sorry!" I spoke, my breath shaking as I got down to clean it up.

"I'm so sorry , I'm sorry." I cried, as everything from my past bubbled up.

"Hey, it's ok, it's only a glass." I heard River speak calmly as I quickly tried picking up the broken pieces, my hands shaking in the process.

"No, no, it's not ok, I'm so stupid." I felt tears prick in my eyes.

"Hey your not stupid." River spoke concerned. Bending down next to me.

"Be careful. You might cut yourself." He tried to pull my hands away concerned. Leaning in closer toward me, and then I just lost control. It was too much. Reminded me of all the pain.

"No please don't hurt me! I'm so sorry." I cried, curling up in a defensive way, hiding my face.

For a moment, there was just silence, I didn't move for fear and embarrassed, if he wassnt angry then he surly thought I was crazy. But then I felt a gentle hand on my back and river sit down next to me, pushing away the broken glass.

"I'd never...why would you think I'd hurt you." He whispered clearly, confused but trying to act as gentle as possible, seeing my state.

"I broke your glass." I mumbled through my tears, still not looking at him.

"Well...its just a glass it not important y/n." He spoke gently, rubbing my back. I couldn't help but feel surprised by this action, why was he so calm.

"It ok." He whispeed seeing how confused and scared I was. Slowly, he then pulled my body closer to his own, taking my hand in his. Reapting, "It's ok" to help reassure me.

I warmed to his touch, letting him hold me tight. Once I began to calm down, he softly lifted my head for his eyes to meet my own.

" Why don't we go and sit down on the sofa? This floor is getting cold." He smiled.

I chuckled, whiping my tears. Allowing him to lead me, holding my hand to sit down .

As we sat down, I naturally sat closer to him, and he took my hands in his again.

"Now, how are you feeling."

"Better." I looked at him smile slightly. "I'm so-"

"Hey, listen now." He interrupted me , gently cupping my cheek with his hand, rubbing away the tear stains.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. Ok?" He looked at with some intensity but with kindness behind it .

"And I'll never hurt you, y/n. I'm not like that, I'd never hurt you." He said, moving closer to me.

"I know." I whispered, looking down. "It's just my past relationships...he...he was horrible and h-hit me for the smallest mistake and -"

"Shh, it's ok." He softy spoke, pulling closer to him. "I understand, and if you feel like you're not ready to date or -"

"No!" I said rather suddenly, surprising him and even myself. "I uh I mean I am ready , and I uh really like you but it's just been a while since I've had a healthy relationship ya know. " I spoke nervously.

"Well, I really like you too." He smiled, running his hand through my hair.

After a brief moment of him stroking my hair, he pulled back.

"Can I try something?" He asked, looking at me.

A bit confused but intrigued. I nodded.

River smiled and gently snaked his hands around my waist, lifting me lightly onto his lap, wrapping his arms around my shoulders.

I couldn't help but smile. In that moment, I felt that no one could hurt me, and I laid my head against his chest, getting in closer.

"Is this OK?" He spoke in a whipser rubbing his hand up and down my arm.

"Yes." I smiled looking up at him " It is."

" I won't let anyone hurt you again y/n." He promised, and I could tell by his tone he meant it.

Feeling rather brave, I leant up and placed a gentle kiss to his cheek.

"Thank you." I blushed, and so did he. "Can we just stay like this for a bit longer?" I asked, not wanting him to let go .

" As long as you like." He spoke, holding tighter. As I breathed in his cologne and his hands caressed my arms, I could feel myself began to fall asleep.

"Just one thing, love." He whispered ìn my ear, the nicknames making me giggle.

"Yes?" I said looking up at him.

"I uh, your eyes are beautiful. " He spoke distracted. Childishly smilingly.

I laughed and hit his chest lightly.

"River what's the question I'm tireddd."

"Well what was the name of your ex."

To exhausted to even freak out or question him, I yawned whilst giving him the name. He just nodded in response, and the next moment, I drifted to sleep wrapped in his arms.

Next day

I felt the sunlight hit my eyes as I stretched out on the sofa. I couldn't help smiling at the nights events. How could I have found a man so loving. That led me to realise that I was no longer wrapped around him but tucked in a blanket.

Standing up, I began to wonder around, searching for River.

"River?" I called out lightly to see where he was and then realised I could hear talking from the kitchen. Was he on the phone to someone?

I quietly snuck up to listen. Wrong, I know, but I was intruiged.

"Yea Roddy, that right I need you to find the location of (y/n exs name), yea, that's right, yea. Oh, why? It's just something I need to take care of. No, this isn't a secret mission from Lamb! Right bye. No, Roddy , no one is dying, not exactly. " He put the phone down and carried on making his breakfast.

"Oh morning sweetheart. " He smiled, noticing I was behind the door.

"Uh morning" I smiled back. "What was -"

"Don't worry about it." He said, walking over, holding me by my waist. "I told you that no one would ever hurt you again, and I meant it."

"You're not an accountant, are you?" I chuckled, placing my hands on his chest.

"Oh yes, I am. I'm very good at it.

"A very dangerous accountant then." I chuckled

He rolled his eyes and lifted me onto the counter making me squeal.

"River!" I laughed as he gently peppered light and soft kisses along my neck and up my jawline.

"What?" He asked innocently. "I'm just showing you the love you deserve." He smiled, finishing with a light peck on my lips.

Suddenly his phone rang. River gave me a sorry look and took out his phone. The person calling was named Lamb.

"I minute." He huffed before answering the phone.

"Lamb what -" Before he could finish, I could heat the other person shout down the phone.

"Roddy says you're out to kill someone, you idiot! What's wrong with you!?"

River rolled his eyes and I laughed. How new from now on I would definitely be protected.

Leander Characteristics

So for the past posts about Leander I have been talking about the lines that stood out to me but now I am going to be talking about his character design. I am also not sure how into theories I am going to be going into with Leander because there are a lot out there but I think I am just gonna be talking about the main things or facts that I think are heavily implied.

So lets first talk about Leanders name because I think that is the biggest hint we have for his background.

So I am just gonna throw a bunch of screenshots talking about Leander the Greek Mythology and also the flower and then I will talk about it after

OK, so we know from this Greek Mythology that Hero and Leander were in love and that Leander would swim over to meet with Hero. We also know that Hero is a priestess of Aphrodite. And what is Aphrodite the Goddess of?? That is right, Sexual Love and Beauty, Which Leander shows throughout the games demo soooo, take that as you will. Also I might bring up the virgin point later but for now im just gonna leave it here. Also in the third pic, Leander is describes as using charm(which again, Leander uses a lot though out the demo) and that, Hero being a virgin, is not something that Aphrodite would want being the goddess of love and sex. So once they become a....Situationship????? Leander keeps visiting Hero every night, but one night he gets drowned. Now as of right now, I don't think the torch or light thing is super important because I don't think there is anything in the game that mentions it so im not gonna talk about it right now either. But we then find out that Hero finds Leander's body dead on the shore but he is holding flowers in his hand....Remind me again what the first thing Leander gives to us is hmmmmmm*sideways glance* So then Hero starts wailing "O Lender" over and over, and so that is how the flower, Oleander, Got it's name. And guess what, Oleander just happens to be super toxic. Uhhhhh does this imply something for Leander's character, I'll let you decide. And even though this is known to be a super toxic flower it is still used for landscape because it is considered pretty or attractive, beautiful even. And we all know by now what Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of. I also don't know if it will become a big thing later in the game with the fact that Hero then also joins Leander in death but again, as of right now, ill just leave this here. So then you may be asking, If Leander died then how would he be alive in the game?? Well I am glad you asked.

Through out Leander's character, there are multipule instances of the idea of youth, or rebirth. Again if we go back to the flowers Leander gives us, they are noted to be white Lilles, now what do white lilies symbolize???

Ok so if Leander did die, he somehow came back to life so yes, rebirth.

While looking for Leander at first we are looking out for his dagger shaped earing, but what is this dagger going through exactly? Well, I think it is the Ouroboros symbol. And what does that mean exactly?

We can see this design on Leander's earring like I said

Actually without closely looking at this, it just looked like a normal circle but up close, it is a snake eating itself. Again with the theme of rebirth.

Now when we go to look at the symbol on Leander's belt, the whole entire structure of the belt looks like the symbol that represents the mother, maiden and the crone.

So the main point for this symbol is youthfulness or in a way, rebirth

Now when looking at the middle of the belt the symbol looks like the symbol for Aphrodite which Leander's lover, Hero, was a priestess too, they look....pretty similar right? Also just another note that doves and sparrows are also a symbol for Aphrodite andddddd what does Ais call Mhin and the MC for their nickname hmmmmmm???

okokok, so there are a lot of symbols for rebirth on Leander but what else. By now one can assume that Leander died and had been revived or rebirthed. But is there something that also leads to this conclusion without it being a symbol, why yes there is. In fact, we can see that a core color of Leander's character is green and we all know that green is related to growth or growing or rebirth??? Thus the green color leading us to talk about Leander's eyes. So lets actually talk about Leanders eye color

I actually saw a post about this so this is not my discovery but his eye color is Paris Green and guess what a fun little fact about this paint is. Yep! you guessed it, it is indeed, toxic.

So that is so slay for Leander. In fact, it's not even used now because of how toxic it is

So, so far we have a toxic flower AND a toxic Paint that goes with Leanders character.

But I want to stay on Leander's eyes for just another sec because there is also something more interesting going on in them then just the color. When we first see Leander in the CG Leander is using magic and so along with all the other sparks around him that are happening while doing his magic, there is also a "spark" or a glint sort to speak in his eye

Now, this is not super unusual because in other games or novels, the characters eyes or hair have been describe to "light up" when using magic but.....This glint never goes away

Now I can understand while using magic there would be a glint but when he is not doing anything? Unless...he is using magic constantly. I mean if he was dead, and he did get rebirthed or revived, who says it was a one time thing. What if he constantly has to use magic to keep him alive or something along the lines of that.

So if Leander did get revived or has been rebirthed but has kept all his knowledge it would explain some of the lines that stuck out to me when interacting with Leander. I mean if he is not actually in his 30's like people think he is but he is actually much older, old enough to have Greek Mythology about him, it would explain why he is so powerful or such a good mage. Like I said, I have talked about this in my previous posts about Leander and the lines that were weird to me but there are quite a few lines or situations that tell us that Leander is very strong. So lets look at a few of these situations...

First when Leander initially summons the flowers, if you choose the Alchemist background, you note that he did not need a spell circle, he just straight up summoned the flowers. And from further dialogue we can come to the conclusion that this is not normal and Leander must be a "very gifted mage"

Second when we tell Leander we are cursed and then he seems very curious and asks us if it is "ancestral or more recent". We know that Leander did not go to study at the Senobium soooooo how would he know about curses. I can kinda understand the "more recent" curses. But ancestral.....How would he even know about it and why is he so interested in it?? I mean if he really is the Leander from the Greek Myth then, Leander would be pretty old, old enough to learn about curses and even more so for ancestral curses.

Then when we talk to Leander about picking fights with Ais and trying to kill him, he just brushes it off completely and he is not the least bit worried. I mean I feel like any normal mage would be worried even if they were very good at what they do. Soooo I feel like you would have to be around a pretty long time to not be the least bit scared or nervous about messing with a monster.

And this will finally be my last point about Leander's character. It is his motto on the Bloodhound poster which is, "as above, so below". At first glance it does not seem that significant. I mean the Bloodhounds are all about helping the lower class so it is more equal to the upper class so that is probably what the motto means. This is also reinforced when you learn the fact that Leander is the son of an old Hightown Family and then runs away and joins in with the Lowtown so ya, they are trying to bridge the wage gap. But maybe, just maybe, If Leander is the Leander that died in the Greek Myth, it actually stands from something like...Heaven and Earth? Two different planes where one is above and the other is below??

Numbers Game Party Attire ~ The Boys

Thank you for this ask! I've been leaving a lot of visual character details vague, especially for the reader, but if enough people would prefer that I describe the other characters in more visual detail within the story, I'd be happy to do so! I just want all of our imaginations to have free reign in this dangerous little world!

BUT SINCE YOU ASKED...

Here's my vision of what Crocodile, Buggy, Mihawk, and Shanks are wearing to the party:

Sir Crocodile

Crocodile is showing off in a super dark purple/dark plum suit and vest with a black scarf and pocket square. It's got some modest black detailing (nothing as extensive as Mihawk's embroidery shenanigans though 😅). His fur coat is all black today, and he's got some gold jewelry and accessories on his suit to match his hook, like a pocket watch chain, his rings, and a crocodile brooch with chains, of course! I couldn't decide if the crocodile would be all gold or covered in emeralds, so you decide! I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, but here's a few pics (the color would be darker than these with the details listed above):

Buggy the Clown

I hope this isn't too disappointing, but I picture Buggy wearing his red Cross Guild potato sack for this party 😅😅😅 He's also got the wild hair and hat situation going on. This is the epitome of him being the leader of the guild, the crazy, menacing clown that has the two ex-warlords at his beck and call (lol), and it felt right to me to have this image he's made for himself lately to carry into this party. I see it as smaller than the giant stretching he does in the anime. It fits around him closer, you can actually see a bit of his body shape, which is why when he floats just slightly inside it as he did during his speech, it gives him a strange, hypnotic movement/gait. For the party outfit, I envision the colors all a bit darker or muted instead of super bright, with some added details on his clothes. I was thinking some lovely embroidered accents from Mihawk, but I don't think stretchy material can be embroidered, so I left that out of my brain, lol.

Dracule Mihawk

Mihawk's outfit is similar to his daily attire, just a little more extra (how is that possible? 😅). Our swordsman is wearing a jacket, NO SHIRT (lol), Kogatana (his cross pendant blade), and his pants and boots are all black. He actually took his hat off when he came inside, but before he did, it had black feathers instead of white. He's returned to his old wine red/dark burgundy shade instead of the gold he's been sporting lately. His jacket is similar, except there are no plain black sections. It is all ridiculous embroidery, with black, silk lining (the giant collar isn't lined though, gotta have those pretty designs framing his face, lol). The jacket also has some Victorian style embellishments like buttons, etc., as well as the shape of it being more suited to a party than a billowing coat. It's got some extra embroidered details along the edges that actually have hints of other colors (even though he dressed our girl up in all black, lol.) Mihawk may have embroidered a little rabbit or two into the detailing of his jacket... I had a hard time finding what I was looking for, but here's what I've got:

Red Haired Shanks

He's literally wearing the same outfit he always does except that the material is slightly nicer, the pants are black, and the shirt is a super dark blue. He's still wearing sandals. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Everything's wrinkled since he's been keeping all his clothes in a bag on the floor of the middle suite since he showed up here, lol. (His clothes are probably always wrinkly, tbh.) If Mihawk wasn't so preoccupied with his little rabbit, he definitely would have forced Shanks to wear something else, lol. Of course, this fucker manages to look amazing, and far more impressive than most everyone in that swanky room. Shanks could rock a potato sack, and everyone on the Grand Line would still simp for him 😅

I hope you enjoyed me dressing up our sexy villains like little dolls, lol. I would love to hear what your numbers girl's boys are wearing!

The party is moving right along now, so I'll get back to writing Part 26! Think it's time for anyone to die yet? It'd be a shame to get blood all over these pretty clothes... 😈😈

Yumi and The Nightmare Painter Shadowbox Master Post 1:

The Yoki-Hijo

I am head over heels for making these Cosmere Shadow Boxes. I would love to find a better mold than the 4" coasters but for now they are so pretty! I don't even know what I'll do with them but for now I'm happy the exist.

To begin, I once again sketched out a design trying to focus on strong silhouettes, and cut out each layer on a different piece of card stock. I decided to go with warm colors to push the heat of Yumi's environment and give some good contrast to the Painter Box coming soon.

Learning from the Mistborn Shadow Box, I was worried about such delicate shapes floating in the resin and messing with the depth. So I tried something that worked out ok with a fabric backing I did for a commission for a friend. I painted the paper cut outs with resin and let them cure on a silicone mat to hopefully give them some more rigidity and less buoyancy in the resin.

I wanted to lean in to the "traditional" vibe that Yumi's side of the story has, so I included real natural elements as part of the resin inclusions.

Real pressed flowers and gravel give the work a more grounded (sorry) element which will contrast nicely with what I have planned for Painter. I also decided to have some fun with it and "stacked" some rocks up the sides. The flowers floating in the sky are such an iconic part of her world that I had to include them.

I didn't take pictures of the individual layers going in this time around because, thanks to the resin painted over each piece, the long curing time between each layer became unnecessary so the process was a lot faster this time around (yay, we're learning!) But you can see the added flowers and some of the gems acting as stand ins for the Hijo floating around the stacks. I know they aren't "book accurate" but I wanted just the tiniest bits of Cyan and Magenta in Yumi's piece. (Keep an eye out for their parallels in Painter's piece)

I'm really fond of the way the resin soaks into the light card stock like water. It creates a very specific kind of translucency that lends itself to the "atmospheric fade" that creates a light illusion of distance and depth.

A quick check through the bottom to preview how it all looks before we add the resin on to the final backing paper layer...

The pale lemon yellow paper pics up a lot of depth from the resin soaking in. I also swirled in the littlest bit of gold luster-dust and a drip of orange ink to the corners for a little depth of color before putting the paper down and more resin over top.

And the final reveal:

A little flat with the simple background, but that's expected. The contrast is exactly what I was hoping for. I mixed a little bit of the glow powder seen beneath the Shadow Box there to help boost the reflectivity of light which can be seen bleeding up around her knees a little bit which I hope helps evoke that heat her land is known for.

When backlit, the rein soaked into the card stock gives the whole scene an almost dreamy quality as the stone stacks fade but Yumi remains stark and crisply focused.

No preview of Painter yet, I am still trying to puzzle out a good silhouette for him that will show what he's actually doing when he's hunched over a canvas without being able to use internal contours... but I can share that I bought some EL wire and hope to line his piece with real hion lines!... once I figure out how to make the wire Cyan and Magenta along the places I want it to go.

Once Painter is done, I don't plan to stop. Maybe Warbreaker next... or Stormlight, though I have other plans for that behemoth.

Real talk: Anyone who wants to float an idea, I wanna hear it. These are too fun to stop. (I could maybe even be talked into parting with one if the situation arises)

Heeyyyy hope you don't mind, I found one of the pictures I was talking about when I made that post about fusion fashion!

This was once a furisode that was turned into a tea gown! I wish there were more examples, but so far this is the only actual image of a real physical example. I just really love the idea of mixing patterns/fabrics and cuts to create new styles!

As I said before, I've found a lot of more modern examples, which aren't exactly what I'm looking for but they're the closest I have besides this! They're mostly Taisho-era-style, but some of them mix other stuff in and I think it's so pretty!

Like, I just LOVE the half-corset + blouse + kimono-style top overlaid! I realize Japan/east Asia already kinda "remixes" Western clothing in a way that makes it more to their own tastes, but I'm envisioning that kind of spin on more historical clothing. I haven't pinned the eras or specific countries down yet, but I'm getting there!

A lot of the "medieval" clothes are usually drawn and don't have physical examples either, so it's always a gem when I can kind of find something to bounce around in my head!

Some of these aren't Japanese (I know a few of them are Chinese, not familiar with the others), but I tend to focus on that since that's what I know. Still, I really like the other styles as well, and I think they're great inspiration, so I added them too!

Ok I have to be honest and say a few things post it or not.....

This is the most normal guy shit and there are people here acting as if it isn't. No one has said they're in a relationship. You go ond dates in order to get to that point. And if they are....super we'll find out whenever we find out.

We literally already know that he was on raya and she is exactly the type of woman to be on raya. I think the sleezier thing would be meeting a bunch of girls through the media wave and then date hopping with them all. But still...This guy is just 32 and trying to date around girls who are not gross younger than him and trying a new avenue (and so be it) but like mod said...probably gonna have a real hard time actually pulling the band aid and feeling comfortable making something official. Official probably scares him and that is also super normal.

Let's remember that everyone WANTED him to be hot girl joe-ing last summer. Boat girl didn't cause waves other than !! excitement. Everyone kinda was 👀 hoping sailing girl might be a fling. Yeah the pap part is an added layer but he did that with boat girl and I have been on here and said before that I don't think he'll openly pap with someone he is more serious about. I do and I literally only have 500 followers and sometimes they pop up in the peripheral of my life like this and I see them on IG and I'm like...nah I have no need for this and I unfollow. it doesn't seem like it needs to be that deep for chase to play like this. So ultimately using this move to create narrative about what happened to them is... unproductive. It happened but that doesn't mean it needs to mean anything deep.

thank you Nonnie. I think it is difficult for some people to look at adult relationships, and how they can be very unserious and just hooking up, and understand it. There are people out there who are in long-term relationships from the time that they’re 18 years old. I’ve seen several people in my life that get into relationships when they’re young and stay in them and usually marry the person. so when they look at how other people are dating they don’t really understand the casual part of it. And casual dating /seeing each other is pretty common as you get older.

upon finishing past lives

okay, so, as the final credits of past lives showed upon my laptop at around 4AM last night, i felt a giant urge to simply sit and write. i didn't do it right then, deciding to let the feelings and thoughts simmer for a while longer. then, i decided to read the reviews on letterboxd and came across a beautiful story. i went to bed promising myself to go back to what i wanted to write, so as not to lose momentum which is a very big motivator for me. otherwise, i'd simply let the moment slip and this is most definetely not something i wanted to happen with this beautiful piece of media.

i was opening my notes app rn and then decided to write here, for some reason. i've often been feeling the need to share some of my experiences with narrative fiction here, since i started with posting only about jegulus fics, but ended up talking about a movie or whatever. since no one reads here, it's basically my journal and my archive. i have terrible memory so i love to have all kinds of records and archives for things that moved me.

after this enormous introduction, let's talk about past lives.

i had such huge expectations after seeing one of the people in whose opinion i trust the most having loved it, and the general vibe i felt seeing the promo pics and the poster (i just don't like watching trailers for movies), that as i pressed play i was afraid it might turn to disappointment. what i wasn't expecting was the extent it actually surppassed the meeting of them, becoming most definetely my favorite movie i watched for the award season (very late in the game, i know).

something about it felt so familiar and yet so intriguing, i loved the pacing and the dialog. but especially the subtext. i've seen some reviews talking about how much they felt a lack of connection on a deeper, personal level, and my experience watching it could not have been more different.

not all parts of it clicked immediatey with me, i've later read reviews from people who immigrated to the US and realized i totally missed some details about this particular aspect, being a brazillian who never left Brazil. Though i think that, as a latina, there are some cultural aspects that i could absolutely relate to, probabbly from the perspective of a non north american and that was really interesting.

i don't wanna dwell much on the technicalities of the movie, though i believe it so beautifully shot and placed, i loved how much the scenarios add to every frame that appears on screen, the meaningfullness of the backgrounds that add to the subtext. Which is exactly the point i want to dwell on: the subtext. For me, it's one of the strongest aspects of the movie. Unfortunately, i haven't had the best experience on watching to analyze the writing properly, since i watched it via the jack sparrow way (it's not available in brazil ok) and the portuguese subs were kind of botched. Still, the content of every single conversation and it's weight was not lost on me. Though sometimes simple, it was always majestically written (and obviously i can detail better my opinions the english parts, the language i do, in fact understand without needing translation) and powerful.

i've had multiple experiences in my life with people that seem to come and go, but when i take a closer look i come to realize they have never really left. so i connected to the story sooo much, i even dreamt about of of my biggest crushes in middle school, and my first love, who i spent my whole adolescence loving and still is one of my best friends.

timing and the passing thereof, has always been a complicated thing for me to deal with. i remember writing about changes and my loathing of them from a very young age. now, in my early adult life, i find myself seeking those narratives more than i did as a kid. still kinda fearing the absence they'll leave inside me, but also yearning for the reflections they might bring.

i was around 12 years old when i watched boyhood. it was probabbly one of the first movies to ever cause me a hint of an existencial crisis. not in a way you'd expect, though. not in a "omg i need to get a career and wtf am i doing", but in a sense of how it portrayed relationships, the passing of time, etc etc.

as i grew older, focusing on the past 3 years, then came normal people and just this last january, before sunrise.

I re-read np in late 2023 as i felt the need to, when i realized i was falling really in love for the first time ever since my first love, which had a hold on me for almost 7 years (and i'm 20, that's a lot haha). i found that, somehow, it had meant even more to me the second time around.

january, this year, i caved in and watched before sunrise. i also had super high expectations but nothing could ever prepare me for what i received. it became one of my favourite movies ever, and it spoke to parts of me that i had either left uncared for.

to me, past lives came and fed that specific part. all of these pieces of media i spoke a lot on, they talk to and help me understand a feeling i've had in my heart ever since i can remember.

i always had a fascination with something i've come up with, to explain basically the foundation of everything i love, in art, in myself, in life, "the unsaid".

my definition of it, is that the unsaid lies within the dialog, the text, the spoken word, the writing itself. in media and in life. it's like subtext, but maybe even deeper. it's the look you give to your best friend across the room. it's the goodbye that gets trapped inside your throat the last time you talk to someone. it's the touch that never reaches itself out. it's the i love you you don't dare to let slip. it's the look you give someone when you stopped kissing them to just look at them. it's how your eyes light up whenever you see one of your favorite persons in the world. it's when you stop in your tracks in the middle of a party and gaze at your friends, and realize that life can be, in deed, beautiful, and how lucky you are. it also kinda relates to frances ha definition of what she looks for in a relationship, that really stuck with me.

i live for the unsaid. either be it in the art i consumme, or how i experience it in my life. it's what makes existing worth anything, personally. as past lives dialogs sm with this notion. all the scenes where hae sung and nora don't say a word to each other, their look speak millions. that reminded me of one of my favourite scenes from before sunrise, the famous booth scene. in all of the above, i sat unsable to shake a small laughter, or maybe a sly tear, in response to the volume of what was being communicated there.

i consider myself really lucky with the people i have in my life and this movie spoke to this, too. i have a childhood best friend who remains close to me, a sister, really, for over 10 years. i have another childhood friend, who was my first big crush and baby love i ever had, who i used to think i was gonna marry and have children with, to the extent i have drawings of it, still be my best friend to this day. i have friend since middle school, who i fell deeply in love with at the tender age of 13 and who remained my muse very well util my 19th year of being alive, and she was my first girlfriend, the first girl i kissed, and remains my best friend. i've also been lucky to experience such a short but beautifully loving experience with a close friend i made in college, in the latter part of 2023. i haven't really gotten over him, but it's fine, cause ever since watching before sunrise, i realized i had multiple - and i can't believe i'm refferencing tfios in the year of the lord, 2024 - infinities with. though i had grieved what seems to be the ending of our never named, never labelled, situationship, and i still feel a lot of things for him, i've become gratefull for having experience such interesting and soul touching things with him. for opening myself up for it. for admiting my feelings to him. for the leap of faith i took, even if i ended up stranded or hit by rocks at the bottom of the cliff. i'm grateful it happened, even if i still cry about it and have written many songs for him. no matter how long it'll take me to get "over" him, i'll live. and i'm happy it happened. he's become one of my favorite people in this life and this is something i don't say lightly and don't take for granted.

i think to me, the "meaning of life", is to collect this feelings and experiences that turn you into the person you are at the moment. i have no idea of who i'd be without all my influences. i've written mysel, but i was only able to, with the refferences and quotes of every friend i had, every person i loved, everyone who became my family or stopped being it. maybe it's my cancer moon and venus. but i'm really nothing more than a mosaic, a reflection of every single person present in my life (real or parassocial), a collection of words, spoken or not.

and yeah, i barelly spoke directly on past lives, but it's what i always tend to do anyways. i'm not here to make a detailed runthrough, analysis over the cinematography and the script, i might be an acting major but i lack the knowledge (or maybe just doubt i do). but this is, still, my journal, to track my experiences and thoughts. so that's what i did. and i don't think, at least right now, that this movie can really fit into aything i could try to say.
