I HAVE TOO MUCH ENERGY so Im gonna get rid of it by rambling about Storm

I think I hinted in one of those OC ask games recently that he doesn’t age, but I don’t think it’s rly come up how and why recently

Imma put it under readmore because I feel VERY rambly and Idk how long it’ll get

Ok so I have a brief explanation beforehand about why this is even a thing. This was YEARS ago. Like ‘I was still chat-RPing Storm and Archie Sonic hadn’t had a single genesis wave’ ago. Ironically, the Genesis wave happening in the comics made it easier to explain just what Storm had done to his body.

No one from our RP group had come online yet, and my bro and I were bored. The RP had kinda come to a halt plot-wise, and we’d discussed doing a long time skip since we’d already set some stuff up about what would happen in the future. So we decided to go ahead and get started on it as people came online (it being a chat based RP, we didn’t need everyone to start RPing)

As our group came online, they’d either ignore the time skip or kept forgetting about it. Like we’d wrap up a future RP, and then come online to the RPing suddenly happening in the past again. And then it turned into an amalgamation of weirdness and ‘yes we’re gonna bring up events that happen in the future IC, even though we’re apparently writing in the past’

So bro and I got tired of this happening. And at first we were gonna void the future RP stuff. But then my brain farted out an in-universe explanation as to why in the hell these characters know future events that haven’t happened yet.

Storm’s age and memory had been reset, and it was a sensitive issue still, so people acted like nothing changed.

Mind you at this point Storm was the average joe of the group. We were all either in early high school, or late middle school, so everyone else’s characters were some form of immortal or slow aging, so it was like ‘oh yeah ofc he wouldnt notice the only people he hangs out with are older’

Jesus ok. I DID say I was rambly tonight. So. ONTO THE MAIN THING

Theres characters in this other than Storm, and they are;

Exe- Storm’s adoptive brother (who is a being that doesn’t age)

Narc- Exe’s corrupted/anti alternate, who is also responsible for Storm missing his arm

Alt Storm- A Storm alternate from a bad timeline

Ok so how the immortal Storm ball got rolling was- Narc trapped Exe within his own dimension, and came out into the one he and Storm live in.

Exe and Storm’s entire team/unit pretty much broke apart and went their own ways soon after, having given up on the notion that Exe might come back. Storm resents them for it to this day, especially since Exe left him second in command, so it had that extra layer of ‘they didn’t think I could lead them because they always underestimated me’

He pretty much gets unhealthily obsessed with fighting and capturing Narc, since he’s the key to bringing his brother back. Pretty sure the guy would’ve stopped sleeping and eating if it didn’t mean he needs to keep himself in top shape to fight Narc.

This went on a few years, which made Storm encounter another problem. That being that he’s an average joe, and he’s getting older and is bound to start getting weaker, while Narc just stays at full strength.

Not wanting to risk the whole fight lasting even longer, to the point that he does really start to weaken from age, Storm starts experimenting on himself and slowing down his aging. A lot of the experimentation involves chaos energy. He doesn’t manage to stop his aging, but he does slow it down.

For the sake of putting a conclusion to this rather than doing a double rant, I will say that Storm does manage to stop Narc, and Exe does come back.

Later down the line, Alt Storm crosses paths with his regular counterpart (this part isnt as fleshed out yet story-wise since for the longest time I had no idea what to do)

Alt Storm is a user of Chaos Energy, a strong one at that.

I’ve mentioned before how regular Storm’s family lineage leaves him without any chaos powers, but instead he has the ability to endure chaos based attacks better than regular people. (Ex; a chaos attack thatd hurt someone would leave him dazed but relatively ok, an attack that’d badly hurt someone would just hurt him a little, etc)

Storm has no idea that this is a thing, so neither does his alternate. So an attack that was meant to kill him, leaves him barely alive.

However the amount of chaos energy messed him up by having a reaction with the chaos energy present from his own experiments on himself. His body basically had it’s own mini-genesis wave, essentially (temporarily) erasing a decade worth of memories, reverting him back to when he was 20, and stopping his aging.

He’s since gotten most of his memories back, though there’s still holes in them that he’ll likely never mend. But he does remember his experiments, and the event that made him stop aging rather than just have his aging slowed down.

And that is my ramble on why Storm doesn’t age

nina was born to two incredibly high-profile actors. her parents are the pride of thailand, both starting out as small actors in non-credited roles to becoming one of the highest-paying thai actors by the time they were in their twenties. her mom’s career started with modeling and beauty pageants where she first caught the attention of some important industry people and eventually ventured out into acting. after landing the starring roles in what would turn out to be a huge box-office success, the two actors were ultimately catapulted into stardom and became household names. they were like the leonardo dicaprio and kate winslet of thailand, with millions of fans always rooting that there was something more to that onscreen chemistry than just acting and rooting for the two to eventually get together in real life. after five years with continuous denial of any relationship rumors, they finally announced their relationship to the world with engagement news. it was like the type of romance you’d see only in films — two young starlets falling in love behind the scenes to become thailand’s golden, power couple ! after much anticipation from the public, their first-born daughter nina panak was born not too long after their wedding.

before nina was even born, there were already countless of people anticipating what the child of the power couple would turn out to be like. forums and gossip blogs online spent endless of hours speculating and debating her future and what she had to live up to. many believed and hoped she’d turn out to be an oscar-winning star and act in movies just as her parents had, many wondered if she would even be able to fill in their footsteps or if she’d always be in their shadow ? from the moment nina was welcomed into the world, a heavy load of expectations and pressure were put on her shoulders from the start. she was born during the height of her parents’ fame and success, which made it difficult as the first decade of her life she’d spend more time with nannies and people who were paid to take care of her rather than her own parents. as her parents continued to build their careers, venturing out into hollywood films and quickly gaining popularity and fans all around the world (very much like priyanka chopra and deepika padukone) — nina was learning how to walk and getting potty-trained by herself in their billion dollar mansion. 

though her parents were absent from her upbringing in much of her early years, they tried to make up for that later on by attempting to spend more time with her despite their packed schedules and often bringing her to the sets of their film. there, her interest in film and producing first sparked as she watched the entire process and saw how the magic of films came together before her very eyes. 

despite that, she always tried to push those thoughts and interests to the back of her head — wanting to focus on an acting career rather than a technical one to make her parents proud and to satisfy the public’s pre-established image of her. by the time she was in her teen’s, she was actively soughing out roles in tv dramas, going to auditions whenever she can to try and land any role that would jumpstart her career as her parents’ had at that age. her parents would use their connections to get her small roles in films and shows, but nina never got whatever acting gene that her parents had. she was a terrible actor, and was heavily criticized for each and every role she managed to play. eventually she gave up on acting, making many headlines and always leaving gossip blogs to speculate about her future — “nina panak quits acting ?!?!” “nina panak to become another celebrity kid with no talents ?” “click to read more about how [dad’s name here bc i havent decided] panak disowns his daughter, nina panak, after her failed acting career !”

during this time, the relationship between the power couple the media had loved so much had gone sour — much to everyone’s dismay. the day before, she was celebrating her parents’ anniversary with her parents and the rest of the world at their annual party, a party big enough to compare to the parties gatsby would throw in celebration of the day her parents first met each other on set. the next morning, nina woke up to endless headlines and pictures of her mom caught kissing another man off set — a much younger costar she had been working with over the past year for her new film. 

it doesn’t take much to guess what happened after that. her dad was filing divorce papers before she knew it — and their divorce case blew up to be a huge court battle as they argued about alimony and the division of their assets for months. 

after the divorce, nina soured as well. she put on a tougher image and hardened her shell as she put herself back out into the world — refusing to let her parents’ legacy and reputation be the only thing she had tied to her name. 

eventually nina ventured out to smaller jobs behind the scenes, and with the help of a close friend, landed a job as the publicist of a rising star. there, she managed the career of tomo katsumura for years meanwhile finally pursuing her interests in film-making and producing. before she knew it, she was being credited as the executive producer of many box-office hits. rather than being the one to fetch people coffee in the morning, she was directing and ordering hundreds of people around each day and bringing her artistic vision to the screen at the ripe age of 19 — leaving hollywood to ponder in awe about her newfound love and talent in film-making. soon enough, those negative headlines about her soon became headlines praising her for being the youngest executive producer in hollywood, with countless of directors and managers wanting to sign her on and work with her in their next project.

nina is very much like a hbic type character, she’s very independent, very powerful n can at times be manipulative if that gets her what she wants

her parents weren’t around much for her emotionally as a kid, so she basically always had to depend on herself n basically raised herself hence why she’s so guarded and has such a tough exterior

she doesn’t let her guard down easily, n even though she can be very mean n cold .. if u mean a lot to her n she trusts u she will do whatever it takes to protect n care for u

So many of us have a distrust for the public sector these days, its really no wonder seeing as for the past 40 years men in suits have done an active push of erasing the private sector defects by blaming the state. Quite interestingly, and surprisingly for a lot of leftists, the state sector is actually very efficient, especially when it comes to R&D.

Let me put it this way, what seems more efficient to you. Have 10 businesses all competing to not to make the best product, but to win them over to you, you can’t just ask them. In order to do that you’ve gotta come up with some snazzy designs, aesthetically pleasing logos, a funky marketing gimmick, before long you’re spending so much dough in marketing you’re not even interested in helping people, just getting yourself seen. Or You could just have one org that does all of that stuff, it doesn’t need to compete. Sounds to me like a lot of hands that could be spend doing R&D.

RM: No. The private sector utilises R&D a lot, but effectively every piece of GPT was created in the public sector. Yes Samsung made this phone, but who made the battery that goes in it? Why is the state sector significant? TIME. Companies flock new models of these out every year to keep the money train rolling, and most importantly keep faith with their shareholders. Makes them flimsy, crappy, liable to break. But GPT takes decades not years to bring it up to commercial satisfaction. Fact remains, we’ve had plenty of time to analyse the effects of the free-market and what we find is theres hardly any greater efficiency.

But for the vast majority of us… its really small, like in my pay check I only lost 1/20th of my monthly income, and sure its annoying not being able to spend that on the latest gamer game or a lush soap but I am getting free healthcare, an education, a polli… I’m getting firemen, ROADS, libraries, Society. If thats worth £50 a month then fuck me daddy I’m ready.

Point here is, you’ve got no semblance basing your entire ideology around something so insignificant, especially when the majority of us will not be owners we’ll be workers and buyers. Now I’m no normie, I know that a lot of this just goes on corporate warfare, IMF loans, and bailouts. But I recognise that thats part of the system we live in and sadly we have to hang on to what we’ve got whilst the very government I am under is selling it all off to the highest bidder. So what of it? Is Taxation theft? Sure, but its not worth basing your life around it. We all think the Capitalist process is just the general flow of life but its very recent, Medieval Ireland and Iceland don’t compare guys, and at the heart of that system is Exploitation, something that we all as a class deal with on a daily basis, and gain nothing from. One might argue, Taxes on business are a trade off for what they get from us.

I know when you first get into politics its juicy to claim theft over a little bite out of your salary, but we only see it that way because its… literally right in front of us, there isn’t a spare column that counts your total labour value. We shouldn’t get so pissed off over the pennies scraped off instead of the huge overhead.

hmm mk is a bit of an anomaly for sure….even tho ive been sifting around webcomics for abt a decade now, i really only ever am keeping up w a handful and rarely actually pick up any new ones. i’m the same way w like, all other forms of media, like shows and music and stuff…its not like even me being all too critically picky, coz i can hardly ever convince myself to check out shit i know i do/will like. but anyways i suppose it was a couple yrs ago and me freezing my ass off in a barely-insulated terrible expensive apartment while dying of depression & it was the middle of the night & i wasnt tired, and sometimes i reread a comic coz i realize ive completely lost track of the plot or characters or something…so i was doing that and there was a guest comic by the artist for mk & i was like, well you know, thats cute and funny and i like how they draw, i’ll just put this in a separate tab and maybe come back to look at their comic for once in my life b/c its not like i hve anything better to do at like 4am. so i finished my reread and figured i’d check out at least a bit of mk & when it drops kip on you right off it took me like 2.5 pgs to he like “well so………he’s gay right? and a nerd?” and so then i was like, obviously i have to follow through on this Gay Lead. b/c i mean, you never really go into anything assuming that anybody will actually get to be Not Straight, no matter how obvious it seems b/c you can’t trust anyone. so even though its right there and makes no sense for him to be straight i was still like going along trying to keep my hopes down even tho there’s no other interpretation….even when the surprise came that he has a beautiful Ex Boyf & i had like a heart attack b/c that far along i was already like “woops i also love him” i was still like trying to come at it from some other angle like…… Maybe This Is Just… Um….. i dont remember but i was like ok but seriously this Has to be an ex right? i mean my god. anyway by that point i was also deeply invested in the fact that kip is v….v much many Char Types i love and xtreme relatable plus he’s flawless and deserves the best despite being doomed for the worst……. so anyways at that point it was like 7am & i was thrilled and yelling a bit about that sweet rare vindication of This Is All Gay Right and like gosh hope he gets kissed by like everybody…… and thats about how that went

oh god…… trying to find a sleeping position can be the worst a lot of the time. like, it changes up and i have to do the tossing and turning bit… sometimes its all huddled up and other times my body wants to be stretched out… im sabotaged by the whims of my body re its comfort tbh. like i’ll be fine in any position and then suddenly my limbs or hips or whatever decide they’re uncomfortable. the other week it was only sleeping on my stomach that was tolerable. i guess on avg i sleep on my side but theres no real standard position, i wish there was

phew i…honestly can rarely draw anything in a matter of less than hours. under 2 hours is shockingly rare. it depends on the day for sure, sometimes drawing comes more naturally, sometimes my focus is less terrible…. for a guess at whats average though, for like a usual drawing that i also add color to, i’d put it at maybe, 5-7 hrs? i’m awful at paying attention to when i start/stop something. and i have a lot of pauses in there b/c of the terrible focus bit. but usually i don’t do coloring thats too fancy so it only tends to add on a couple of hours to the lineart, which is helped along if i’m doing it digitally w how easy it is to erase stuff and not worry abt the sketch being too messy to clean up or whatever. sometimes i wish i could spend another eon on the coloring also, but you can spend just as much time on colors as the lineart and i like to do everything in one go too much for that really… plus just that i’m bad w colors and dont expect to ever be as good at them as with the lineart element of things. anyways tldr all you need to know is…i’m really slow :(

oh god snacks…. i love to eat anything really. i’ll make anything a snack or a meal or whatever. i like stuff like corn chips or just dry crackers… i like to eat cereal just plain… i’ll eat a box of corn chex any day. or a box of oreos probably in like one go. i am a fan of cookies and ice cream and everything. pretzel sticks are great too. fruit snacks are great… a few times ive just been in the mood to cut some like orange bell peppers into strips and eat that…carrots are amazing too… theres this cucumber/cream cheese dip that is…fantastic with chips. idk i like to eat most things

i actually used to tend to wait too long to get my haircut and put it off till it’d been like two months and was getting too long in the back and i hated it lol….. i know we’ve talked abt the Homophobia In The Salon how you have to try to wrangle the stylist into accepting that yes, you really want it that short, and keep them from trying to take it in their own direction. and i’m nervous enough w social stuff like that where i cant know what to say beforehand, and doubly nervous b/c of it being really stressful and exhausting for me to try to just like stick to what you actually want and explain this very simple cut to ppl who sometimes will act like they have no idea what you mean…and it would be triply difficult b/c back in the day i’d catch all this shit over having my hair as short as i wanted b/c my mom was having a whole internal shitstorm about me being a wholeass queer and so of course she was gonna flip out about how i look as if that will solve things for her. i always forget that i Was in fact abused for the ol “not seeming properly cishet” business. so the nervousness abt the haircut experience lingered!! but it helps that sometimes i’d find a really nice stylist who would be friendly and remember the general idea of the cut i liked, and i could stick with them and that was helpful. but for the past year i’ve really just been giving myself a continuous haircut myself w the occasional aid of a bathroom mirror, i’m not fancy. my Ideal Cut gradually got shorter and shorter over the years, w it now being maybe an inch and a half on top and shorter on the sides in that General Undercut format. i rly dont like much length on the back of the neck or by the ears lol…plus it doesnt help having glasses when your hair is getting too long. maybe it would be nice if i could someday dye it my favorite kind of blue, right. but in the meantime, as long as its short enough i’m good
