WARNING: ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

i have spent the last several days ranting and raving about about Spiderverse related things and like. I have such a complicated relationship with this movie, but THAT'S FOR ANOTHER POST IF SOMEONE ASKS LMAO but Miguel. Miguel O'Hara. Miguel.

I HATE HIS HOLOGRAM SUIT WITH NOTHING UNDERNEATH ASSS HE'S SO. WAGHGGHGAGK Like I know a lot of people do like him and there's stuff to like but I just don't see the appeal, and I'm also slightly biased because I can't enter the Spiderverse tag without seeing unfiltered Miguel NSFW LMAO

The first thing I thought after watching the movie was that it felt like he wasn't like... built up to enough? Like, my writer brain never turns off, and from a writing perspective it felt kinda weird. A lot of things in the movie did, but to me it just felt like there wasn't enough intro to him. Like he's supposed to be important but we don't like. i dunno HEJGKHKFL it sort of felt like we were already supposed to know a lot about him. WHICH I GUESS IS FAIR MAYBE THEY EXPECT ACTUAL SPIDER FANS TO COME IN AND KNOW WHO HE IS and I'm only a Spiderverse fan.

Miguel does have really charming and funny moments! Like, in the beginning Gwen section of the movie, he's got pretty funny dialogue while still remaining stern. He's got kind of a flat charm to him. But for me he just. loses it. after that part of the movie. He's a lot more of an asshole, which yes he's supposed to be. But for me there's just not that much to like. and just. and. and

Okay, kiddies, get out of the pool, that was the formal discussion. Now I'm just gonna LOUD

THIS GUYYYYY. IS SUCH A DUMBASS!!!!! He is so obviously wrong about the entire canon event theory. At least he is mostly. THERE IS SO MUCH EVIDENCE POINTING TO HIM BEING WRONG. AND WHAT DOES HE HAVE TO BACK IT UP??? ONLY ONE PIECE OF EVIDENCE THAT HE EVER BRINGS UP IN THE MOVIE!! And that's when he was Stupid and took the place of himself in a universe where he died so he could be with his daughter! And when you think about it, he didn't necessarily break the canon event rule- That canon event already HAPPENED. He DIED. But I guess you could suggest that him coming back ruined it. But that's the problem; these multiverse rules and regulations and details are just so confusing. And they're supposed to be.

Miguel doesn't necessarily have the right to put himself in charge of protecting this and claiming these things to be true when he absolutely does not know the full scale of the multiverse- Nobody knows exactly how all this works!! And we have seen so many things to contradict him!! If what he says is true, the events of Into The Spiderverse would have absolutely shaken things up. But the everything's fine for the most part, isn't it? The events of that movie changed all the characters in different ways (except for Ham. Ham's ok. Ham didn't change LMAO). Peni's SP//DER bot was destroyed, Noir brought color to his universe in the shape of a rubiks cube, Gwen made a new friend. Peter B was inspired and fixed things with MJ and went onto have a daughter, a DAUGHTER WHO'S VERY EXISTENCE ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN! AND THAT'S BECAUSE OF MILES! And if what Miguel is saying is true, why is the fact that Miles is Spiderman now and everything he's done not severely messing things up? The 42 spider's corpse is still chilling in his universe, too.

I've seen people compare the Spider Society to like. a cult? And honestly I can see that- Unintentional by Miguel, I'm sure, but it does seem similar. He's gotten everyone to believe in his theory and have them acting upon it, even Gwen, Peter B, and Peni. (Noir and Ham we never saw in the Spider Society, likely because their VA's weren't available. But I also like to take this as like. These two would not join the Spider Society, no way in hell they would. The society is against a lot of what Noir fights for and Ham would see this as a joke LMAO) NOT TO MENTION THAT OH MY GODDD LIKE GWEN KNOWS NOW THAT IF SHE GOES BACK TO HER UNIVERSE, SHE'S GOING TO HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THE CANON EVENT OF HER DAD DYING. AND MIGUEL AND THE OTHERS KNOW THAT TOO. AND THEY THREATEN HER WITH THE IDEA OF GOING HOME. THEY KNOW THAT. LIKE WTF?????

A detail I'm also obsessed with is that in Pavitr's universe, you see the damage and glitching before the Spider Society shows up. They call it a "quantum hole" or something, because that's what they believe it is. That's what it HAS to be, right? It can't be anything else. It has to be damage from the disruption of a canon event. But that is NOT what that is. That deep blackness- That's damage from The Spot. You can even hear it in the music, you can hear Spot's motif. It's probably also glitching because Spot is literally becoming some multidimensional being.

BUT MIGUEL IS SO DUMB AND SO UNLIKEABLE TO ME LIKE HE COULD HAVE AVOIDED THE WHOLE CONFLICT WITH MILES IN THE FIRST PLACE IF HE DIDN'T TELL HIM HIS DAD IS GOING TO DIE!! LIKE HE SCREWED HIMSELF OVER!! Sure, maybe he figured he should know what's going to happen, just accept it and join the club, but like. MAN.

BUT WHAT GETS ME. WHAT GETS ME THE MOST. WHICH MAKES ME ROLL MY EYES HARDER THAN ANYTHING.

"I'm this dimension's one and only Spiderman. Or, at least I was. But I'm not like the others. I don't always like what I have to do. But I know I have to be the one to do it. I've given up too much to stop now."

OH BOOOHOOOOOOOOO, CRY ME A RIVER. LIKE OH MY GODD. THIS IS LITERALLY ALL THE MOST CLICHE AND GENERIC QUOTES FOR A CHARACTER OF HIS TYPE. LIKE HOW DO YOU TAKE THAT SERIOUSLYYY I'VE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE. OKAY DRAMATIC EDGY MCEDGE I GET IT. I DON'T FEEL BAD FOR YOU!! I HAVE NO REASON TO!!!

I can not WAIT for Beyond The Spiderverse to have Miguel be faced with the fact he's wrong. But he can't face that. Because if he knows he's wrong, he has to face the fact that he's done all of this for nothing. And when people learn the truth, they're likely going to be a bit pissed!!

This came out a little more disorganized and incomprehensible than I wanted, but I think I expelled all my energy yelling about him and stuff in DM's on Discord, so I'm just piecing together all the pieces I left scattered LMAO

Sorry Miguel fans,,,,, you may think he's hot but I do not. This is all just my opinions and thoughts, keep that in mind!!! No hate to anyone who likes him, I know a lot of people do!! I'm just not that big a fan

Ok so initially I wanted to say that when it comes to team Germany I am Anna/Carina girlie - like they were single at the same time and then injured at the same time and were adorably silly goofy together with great matching energy (and they also called each other wifey lmao I guess that it's an Anna thing)

BUT I can see Anna/Pauli like I really get it now just look at them you all were so right 🥺

Speaking of Austrians, probably my most niche ship is Sara Marita Kramer/Lucile Morat and you can tell that I'm old and I never get over ski jumpers I liked but hear me out

They were good friends, they used to jump together a lot in the Alpen Cup and they always left cute comments under their insta posts and, if I remember correctly, they went on vacation to Amsterdam together? Lucile was considered a child prodigy in her teens, she was even the youngest Olympian in Pyeongchang, was doing great in the World Cup and she was hyped as one of the future top ski jumpers. Sara at the moment was one of many talented kids doing okay and growing steadily as a ski jumper but hasn't done anything spectacular up until summer 2019. And interestingly at that exact moment Lucile's form was gone forever, so you can say that they switched...

And do you know when was Lucile's last World Cup weekend before her retirement? Rasnov 2021 - the same weekend when Sara got false positive covid test that prevented her from starting in the competition and eventually cost her the Crystal Globe in the 2020/21 season. And Lucile got a girlfriend later that year and- please can you see this amazing narrative or is it still just me 😭

Speaking of Sara also her and Lisa Eder have an interesting dynamic: childhood friends, jumping at the same club, growing up together and now when Lisa is with Manu Sara happens to be a little awkward with touches 😅 yeah anyway...

Problematic faves: whatever Julia Kykkänen, Evelyn Insam and Coline Mattel had going on when they all rebelled against their national ski federations and decided to team up and train together. I need a buddy* film. Also you can probably tell by now that I'm watching ski jumping for way too long and can't move on to save life

Unproblematic faves: Yuki Ito/Kaori Iwabuchi. Matching energy. Super fun. Loved by literally everyone in the wsj fam (remember Kaori's helmet with best wishes for her retirement from her fellow competitors and #LetYukiFly?). Kaori once called Yuki 'her personal entertainer'. THEY LITERALLY LIVED THROUGH THERE WAS ONLY ONE BED TROPE

Speaking of two besties stuck together for months thousands of kilometers from home: Abi Strate/Natalie Eilers anyone? Bonus points for also calling each other wifeys lmao

And last but not least: Oppstroem (I love Maria's ship name for them, 10/10). There's literally this gifs thread of them, they're just so soft and adorable. And they went through a lot together, each had her own struggles but they have also shared some (like they both got dsqed at that cursed Olympic mixed team comp...). God tier ship for real

ok so i was just finished one of varanara's world quest on genshin impact, the one that chained from arayaka(?) world quest yesterday.

istg sumeru's world quest took so much time to finish and it's branching like... wtheck!

but i had a lot of fun in sumeru, except finding the waypoints :) please tell me u guys too >:(

anyways, that's not what I'm gonna talk to u guys abt.

i should tag this as spoiler, but i wont spoil too much(?) or is it too much? idk 😅

so, in that varanara quest (tho it was started from vimari(?) village quest) we need to save rana, one of the forest rangers that got sick after entering a cave full of fungi and spores to save her relatives (we will fight along with npc and it's so fREAKING COOL. good job hoyo)

turns out her sickness can be cured with the help of aranara's ability. aranara is like a mystical creatures in sumeru or u can basically say they are fairies. the name of that aranara is arana. then, arana tell us to go to varanara to find her relatives (aranaras) and get a spesific item to cure rana.

oh! if u have unlocked all waypoints and statue of the seven, there is still 2 region that should be opened, right? one of them is on the south of sumeru. the name of that region is varanara. we can only light up the map of that region with this quest, cuz the statue of the seven is uhh, idk like hidden?

anyways, long story short we will met araja. araja promised to help but we gotta help aranara's people first, especially because their festival is coming up soon. one of them is arapatchi(?), who asked us to find her brothers asap before the festival started.

so we helped arapatchi. it was a long side quest but!!! then, the name "Nara Varuna" appeared and it was reaaaaally sussy.

note: my traveler is lumine.

listen. they (aranaras) called traveler as a golden Nara. and they said there once a 'golden' Nara and brave like us named Nara Varuna. Arapatchi explained to us abt him. Nara Varuna has blond hair. Brave and Strong. but it's still won't make a clear conclusion. though, i had a name in suspicion abt this Nara Varuna.

But then suddenly–

after we finished the side quest, we asked arapatchi and her bros abt how do aranaras count their age and identifying gender (cuz they are basically looked like uhh they dont have genders??) so that she called her brothers as 'brother'.

TURNS OUT–

omg i freaking cried a lil and i got goosebumps when i first know this. my brain cant stop theorizing.

Nara Varuna is the one who inspired them. abt being 'brother and sister' i mean. why? it was because long time ago– note. long time ago. he taught the aranaras abt his sister.

HIS SISTER.

im pretty sure this is not a coincidence guys. Nara Varuna is traveler's twin. well i cant say it's 100% true but!! my theory is make sense right?

varanara once experienced "black rain, dark mud, red sky" which i assume to be the 'cataclysm' that we all know happened long time ago. we also know that traveler's sibling is exploring teyvat alone(?) or maybe with dainsleif(?) long time ago too.

i just–

what if it's true? that Nara Varuna is traveler's twin?

it was kinda heartwarming to know that the abyss twin was once a kindhearted human. or is the abyss twin still until now? we dont know. but it was nice to know this lil detail abt the traveler's twin. i really do hope to know more abt the twin's journey before khaenriah disaster. or anything abt the traveler's twin. im craving for genshin lores lmao.

anyway, that's all that i can say. if u guys have done the quest, lemme know abt ur opinion! well i hope u guys share the same ideas as me :) but if u dont, it's completely okay!!

Ok i was going to do this in the tags, but my rant got too long D:

(I have Thoughts about this, so sorry)

My fav rn is the "Jekyll and Hyde broadway RARE recording 8/23/2000, with Joe Mahowald as Jekyll and Hyde.

Whenever i'm going to check out a bootleg i look at transformation first, and out of all the bootlegs this one has the best transformation scene & song.

Transformation if done badly is such a deal breaker for me. I really pay attention to the delivery of the monologue that comes after "and into the light" (when Jekyll inyects himself [i prefer it when Jekyll drinks the potion but yeah sure whatever]), and to the "something is happening, i can't explain, something inside me a breathtaking pain" part. But specially to how they do the screams of pain and the "suddenly, AGONY, filling me, KI-LLING ME" part. I mean, nobody screams as warlow (which out of context sound weird to say but oh well), but a lot of actors (HASSELHOFF COUGH COUGH) do too much and it just looks goofy, or they do too little and i don't feel it.

Joe is good, and i love his voice too. And the change into "FREEEEEE" and alive is nice (alive in general is good, for as good as the short + cut version can be).

Honestly i just like Joe's performance in general, his Jekyll feels commited to the science and super frustrated at the governors + everyone who doesn't agree with him, i can see why his Hyde would go after them lmao.

The set and set pieces are fancy too, there are a few bootlegs who have nice sets, and this is one of them. Gotta love the fire, big fire fan me.

Now, confrontation is hard to pull off, and i have resigned myself to the limitations that being one guy trying to sing a duet present. That being said, i LOVE jekyll's part of confrontation, Hyde's a bit less so, but it's still good.

Peak confrontation is the Kermit one or Joey Richter's on shitty broadway tho.

Ok what else.

Utterson's actor is also really good in this one, i think he is my fave Utterson.

This is the moment is also really good.

Sadly, this bootleg has the boring good n evil instead of bring on the men, but there are not really lots of versions with bring on the men.

I have the feeling i was frustrated at board of governors when i first saw the show, maybe because of how short it is, but the fragment we do get is nice, i like how done Jekyll is.

I like how on edge Jekyll is on murder murder, and Hyde in general in that song. Love me some murder.

Emma and Lucy are not my faves on this one, specially emma since i like her more on the rob evan's version that doesn't say who is playing emma Dx

So yeah!

I would love to have a version when they do the world has gone insane, but alas, it was not meant to be
