Curious to see where Ixalan’s gods will sit on the color pie—especially since we already have RGW with the Sun Empire’s Threefold Sun. The art/epithet of Ojer Axonil seems like BR or BRG?

whats a magic deck youve been wanting to make for a while but havent gotten around to building? ive been wanting to build mono white d&t and eggs for a while :3

if you mean in general i pretty much build every deck idea that comes to my mind on archidekt!! i have an addiction to deck building and i try to do it for every cool idea i have cause you never know what youll really enjoy till you play it!! but if you specifically mean in paper theres definitely decks that ive wanted to build but money and stuff has kept me from being able to get around to it. specifically i have an ojer axonil, deepest might burn deck that ive always enjoyed playing but other decks online are more fun so itd be perfect for building in paper!! otherwise i absolutely love my gandalf polyamory deck and would kill to play it in paper (it would also give me an excuse to play with my copy of wedding ring hehehehehe) and id be so happy to build that when i have a stable life. ooh also ive been really invested in my orzhov breena, the demagogue deck. its a really simple pillowfort deck in one of my favorite color pairs that also just happens to run some of my favorite cards!! also mono white death and taxes and eggs sounds super cool actually i think you should give building it a shot!! i highly reccomend mono white even tho a lot of people might tell you its boring, in fact my gandalf deck is sort of white eggs coded if you want to take ideas from that!!

Hey Mark, Ojer Axonil’s backside is a little confusing. Do I have to deal 4 damage with a sorcery or at sorcery speed to flip him back over?

The activated ability to transform him back can only be used as a sorcery. The red sources that have to do 4 or more damage can be whatever, including instants.

Hi Jay! A question about the gods of Ixalan: now that we’ve probably seen all the god cards in LCI, what’s up with the Threefold Sun/Kinjalli, Ixalli and Tilonalli (why didn’t they get a card)? Are they a bastardization of Ojer Jaq, Ojer Kaslem and Ojer Axonil, or did they just not get a card? And relatedly, the Sun Empire folks in the story carry fragments of the Threefold Sun as lights, but what exactly are those?

Chimil is the origin of Threefold Sun, with some millennia of drift, although elements of the three aspects may have been taken from the other Deep Gods. Gishath, as an avatar of the Threefold Sun, is already a manifestation of divinity.

The Threefold Sun things were just magic lamps with poetic language.

i love how of the current god cycle for ixalan, the one god who was the main antagonist afaik (aclazotz) is the worst of the gods revealed. like ojer axonil is p good, ojer taq is nigh busted for mondrak decks, and ojer pakpatiq is really good for instant heavy decks. but aclazotz is just kinda ok in discard decks. like waste not is a better card than aclazotz shdkdhsjd

What's your preferred format?? I'm a Commander player myself but I've also played Pioneer, Pauper, and legacy! (Proxies legacy tho ain't nobody got money for that XD)

i am also a commander player, its the format i enjoy the most and i think playing mtg as a social game is super fun!!

i used to play standard back during theros block but that didn't last very long cause i was young and bad at the game lol but i also occasionally play modern and pioneer decks with my wife and ive played pauper a few times (i love mono black burn lmao)

as for favorite deck ive said this a few times but its probably currently between ojer axonil, deepest might, gandalf the white (i have a post about this deck on my mtg sideblog), ukkima, stalking shadow (also have a post about this ;3) and some honorable mentions are jolrael, voice of zhalfir and niv-mizzet supreme :3

first things first lets address the elephant in the room,,,, i would fuck the shit out of elesh norn. i feel like there has been lots of effort by wizards lately to make her almost seem like a motherly figure, and despite that taking the form of her wanting to compleat the entire multiverse and slowly assimilate all beings into her fucked up little world i bet she would absolutely be so good at soft domming me. like hiiiiiii elesh please compleat me and call me a good girl and praise me for following your will so well....

my favorite commander!!!!

this one is a little hard to pin down as i just have so many decks and i play a new one almost every time i play, but i would have to say its probably between a few. namely

ojer axonil, deepest might - this guy is like mono red burn turned up to 11. this card if allowed to stick fucking decimates life totals and let's you play all the shitty little throw 1 damage at each opponent cards and its a really fun strategy i highly reccomend it.

ukkima, stalking shadow - yep. just ukkima. this deck is not running the green partner so as to not dilute the deck. this is a dimir voltron deck where the deck has ukkima as its only creature and is packed to the brim with interaction, such as blink spells, counterspells, and bounce spells, which allow me to protect ukkima until i can win with commander damage. i only play this deck when i really want to win because it is a nightmare to play against and is one of my more controlly decks.

gandalf the white - i have written an entire post about this guy on my sideblog @devilkittydeckbuilding so i wont go too in depth here but its a mono white group hug deck that actually kills people out of nowhere pretty fast. the whole point is to get a wedding ring on each player and marry the whole table, which leads to decks getting milled out pretty fast lmao. i milled out my gf last time i played the deck because she had two wedding rings, i had a smothering tithe out and every card draw spell i played was making everyone draw cards which gave me more mana with the tithe which let me play more card draw spells and i just milled out one player and moonshaker calvalry'ed the other player. the deck is wild if you can stand giving your opponents a few cards >;3

i also just built a really cool niv-mizzet, supreme "control" deck and that's one im excited to play again!!!!

Could y’all have Ovidio do a video pronunciation guide for the Ixalan cards with Meso-American names? It would help to hear someone familiar with the dialect say the names the right way (after he talked about Ojer Axonil at the panel, I’ve heard dozens of people try to read it phonetically and it come out completely different)

I can ask. I have Ovidio on my podcast next week talking about The Lost Caverns of Ixalan, so you can hear him talk about a lot of things from the set. It's not at all a pronunciation guide though, so I can ask for that.
