daisuga: Suga's favourite movie of all time doesn't really mesh with Daichi. He thinks it's confusing and weird, and the gore is way over the top. But Suga loves it, and the comfort it provides, especially when he's sick, so Daichi always watches it with him even if he hates it. "Why do you always agree to this?" Suga asks, as Daichi's settling in to ride out another viewing. "Because it's something you love," he replies, as if this were the most obvious thing in the world.

iwaoi: Iwaizumi doesn't think he's ever going to convince Oikawa that he's the best setter, or that he's worked hard enough, or that he doesn't need to compare himself to everyone else. But he hates the way Oikawa can't seem to find value in himself outside of some seemingly fickle ranking system in his mind. So when they're fighting, and Oikawa keeps saying that it's just "objective fact" that Tobio is better than him, Iwa has to grab him by the face and tell him: "I won't let you slander things I care about."

ushiten: Tendou had often made the joke about being Ushijima's best friend, because it was funny. All their team, their classmates, always laughed. "He's my bestest bud," Tendou would say, because the whole school knew they made a funny pair, and it was laughable to think Ushijima would ever articulate a sentiment as juvinile as "best friends." Of course, when Ushijima realizes that people find this joke funny, he's very confused. "If it is a matter of not being good enough for you," Ushijima says, because he cannot think of a reason anyone would disparage Tendou, so it must be joke at his own expense, "then I will earn it."

kagehina: Hinata gets injured late in their second year. Its not the worst injury in the world and will heal just fine, but it takes him out of practice for a few weeks at the beginning of summer. He expects Kageyama to forget about him during this time. What good is a spiker who can't jump, can't even practice? But that doesn't happen. Kageyama seems to, if Hinata's not mistaken, dote on him. Carries his stuff, scolds him for not elevating the offended ankle properly, tells him to be careful. "Why are you being so fussy?" hinata asks. "Because I can't stand the idea of you not making a perfect recovery," Kageyama replies. "Who else could keep up with me?"

tsukkiyama: Yamaguchi likes to tease Tsukki over his lack of other friends. "You're too mean, you scare them away!" and "You're gonna have one lonely birthday if the only person who bothers to show up is me!" The last time he said this, though, Tsukki had replied with: "You're enough." and Yamaguchi still hasn't quite gotten over it yet. They celebrate his birthday just the two of them that year.

arankita: Aran came over to help on the farm over spring break. He didn't have to - between you and me, he hated that kind of physical labour anyway - but it was a way to spend a little more time with Kita before they graduated. At the end of the break, Kita surprises him by giving him a key to the house, "for emergencies," just in case. When Aran blusters and tries to ask why, Kita says: "I trust you." Considering Kita has never trusted anything except for himself and his own actions, Aran isn't sure any spoken sentiment could have meant more in that moment.

20. a broken man ♡

You feel a finger tap your shoulder, taking your attention away from Rin and Atsumu. Rin's hand remains on your knee, squeezing it softly as a warning to you before you could turn around. Taking in a deep breath, you look back to face Oikawa. "Yes?"

He looks between the three of you and hums. "Could I talk to you? In private?"

You purse your lips, leaning in closer to Rin before shaking your head. "Whatever you can say to me, you can say in front of them," you respond, resting one hand upon Rin's and using the other to tuck your hair behind your ears.

Oikawa clears his throat, scratches the back of his neck. He looks around him, trying to decide whether or not to follow through. After a quick breath in, he breathes out a curse before saying, "Okay. Um, I was just wondering... Did I ruin you?"

A part of you wants to laugh in his face at the question. Ruined you. Ruined. You twist the expensive ring on your middle finger, consider the ¥600,000 necklace hanging around your neck. Running your tongue across the front of your teeth, careful to avoid wiping off the ¥26,000 Chanel lipstick you're wearing, you cock your head to the side. "Ruin me?"

Oikawa nods his head, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his pants. "Yeah. I did a lot of awful things to you and I wanted to make sure I didn't destroy you."

This time, you do laugh. Not a small, discreet chuckle. No, a loud and hysterical laugh that has people looking at you. You don't try to cover your mouth with your hand, instead turning to look back at Rin and Atsumu. They both shared your amusement, though Atsumu was trying a lot harder than you both to hide it.

When you look back at Oikawa, his eyes are still on you. He's frowning, jaw clenched so hard you're surprised he's not broken any teeth. He glances around himself before straightening up his posture.

"You want an honest answer?" You wait for his nod before continuing, "No. You didn't ruin me. Look at me. I'm in a happy relationship, a healthy one. I have a successful career. In fact, a lot of our songs were taken from the things you did to me. So, no. You didn't ruin me. You helped make me." You smile up at him. "I'm here because of you."

Oikawa stays in place for a moment, taking in everything you've just said to him. He doesn't speak, because no words can come to the front of his mind. His mind draws blank on everything that doesn't involve you. Every memory of every shitty thing he's done to you comes rushing out. Every time he ignored your texts, looked at another person, flirted with people other than you. Replays of the lies, the slanders, the degrading prompts he's thrown at you loop through his entire consciousness. There's a second he thinks he may send himself into a coma, but something takes control of him.

His body turns away from you, from everyone. He walks through the door and down the corridor to the left, and locks him in the bathroom. Oikawa flicks some water on his face, makeup staying in place despite his best efforts to ruin it. He scrubs at it, smears it everywhere. He grabs the paper towels, wiping violently at his face until it's red and raw. It takes all his effort to not try to punch the mirror right now.

Instead, he takes a leisurely stroll back towards set. He refuses to let you get in his head. No, it's time he takes control back in his life. You shouldn't be the one to make this decisions about him and Emiko. Not when you're happily with Suna. You are just so full of yourself, but not anymore. Not now.

Oikawa opens the door to set, somehow keeping himself calm and collected despite the rage in his chest. He scans the room and spots you talking to-

Emiko.

She tucks her hair behind her ears, looks down sheepishly, and says something quietly into your ear. You lean back, eyes grow wide, and Oikawa tries to figure out what happened. What did you say? You're corrupting her. He can't have this. No. Not again.

"What are talking about?" It comes out as desperate as he felt, his voice not received the memo of calm and collected. "What lies are you spouting to her now?"

You can't help the smile that tugs at the corners of your mouth at the sight in front of you. It's happened. The day you dreamed of has finally come. Oikawa Tooru has broken. And it's all because of you. You lean back, wrap an arm around Rin's neck and smile at Oikawa.

"Emiko's just asked us to perform our new album at the cast and crew party. And the songs we write for the show. We're the entertainment for the first few hours, then it's up to whoever. Obviously, we're playing on a talk show earlier that day so we may run late. But don't worry, you won't miss us. They'll be playing it here live."

Despite how he looms over you in your seat, you're the one to be peering down your nose at him. The smile grows wider, fingers running through Rin's hair. Rin smiles, turns to look at the couple. "You guys won't be disappointed."

My first thought when I looked at this post was simple. How many times and we hit oikawa in the head. Everything else kinda spiraled from there. But on a more serious note, these boys are completely ready to take full advantage of your skills. Remember when oikawa sprained his ankle? Guess who had to replicate his serves instead so they could practice receives. That’s right, you. And your aim is a little too good sometimes (Kindiachi has been hit in the face) but they honestly don’t care, they just looking to get practice in, and maybe a few tips here and there for aiming.

But that’s just during their practice. During your archery or other practice. Oh my god. Imagine having like 12 annoying older brothers. Like both Archery and Sharpshooting are pretty quiet sports. But with these mfs at your practice? Oh dear lord. These gon be the most obnoxiously loud humans to walk the planet (3rd only to Fukurodani and Kurasuno). Imagine with me. It’s so silent you can hear a pin drop. You’re trying to concentrate before you’re pulling back your string. also yall know the sharpshooter shaving cream balloon prank thingy? I know damn well the whole team is having a competition for who can do it best. Like it’s literally so funny, especially when someone not on the team gets hit. Like I know oikawa has accidentally hit the coach with one of those. Do with this information what you will.

Somehow or someway, Oikawa will convince you to be his bodyguard. And not even like paying you money. Just like a, “ YoU wOnT wALk yOuR pOor dEfEnSLeSS FRiEnD tO cLAss? oh and you know the team jackets? He bought you yours. But not just any jacket oh no. Yours is special. He’s an ass.

Iwazumi is much nicer on the other hand. He (regardless of if it’s platonic or romantic,) is all about helping you carry your stuff. He doesn’t even ask either, he just kinda picks it up and does it. He says it isn’t a big deal, and that you’re carrying enough with your archery equipment anyway, and that he needs the weight training anyway. Def the kinda guy to use your backpack as a dumbbell and use it to lift while y’all in the hall.

I know y'all have a running competition on who can hit oikawa in the head the most. Body shots are one point, head shots are worth 2, and the groin is worth 3, especially if he’s being creepy to someone. The score is currently 34-31, slightly in your favor. Whoever hits him the least by the end of the month has to buy the winner ramen. Oikawa doesn’t approve of this game, and ends up attempting to bump everything back your way. But on the bright side, it’s a good way to scare off his fangirls :).

Kunimi just kinda vibes with you. Like he doesn’t really acknowledge much of what you do, just kinda goes like, “ oh so that’s why you were so good at that. I just thought you hated oikawa. Anyway can I have your Chez-its?” Yeah my boy don’t care enough, but he cute so yeah.

also I just know this mf, plays Fortnite and vapes blue raspberry burst. Do with that what you will. ( to be clear, I wouldn’t ever vape, i just know he does, and honestly had to look up what flavors there are.

The honesty biggest thing you do that impresses him is the whole good aim card slicey thingy. Idk man, he just seems like he would be good at that, and would try to fight you on it.

Despite everything, Kyotani is actually relatively nice to you? Or at least as nice as he can be. His version of nice is avoiding you like the plague, cause he’s scared you’ll be scared of him. He actually really likes you and wants an excuse to talk to you. So what does he do? Asks you to help him aim while spiking, so that he can use his strength more efficiently. He actually is pretty patient with your teaching, and genuinely respects you enough to take your advice. ( tell him to shower pls, I can smell him through the screen, luv him though)

He also uses a whole bottle of axe body spray every time he walks out of the house . Be careful not to get too close to him. Please find someone strong, or stupid enough to bully him out of it, for the sake of the teams lungs🙏

Kindaichi is probably the only person on the team who still calls you Y/n- senpai. He’s way too precious. That being said, he still did give you a twenty if you hit kageyama with a vollyball during warmups. He may be nice, but he mad petty. And $20 is $20 man

Matsukawa is definitely a COD type of guy. He knows a lot about guns. Bond over that (then give me his number pls)

Yes, they were wondering about your almost nonexistent love live.

“Hey, [Nickname]-chan, I’ve been thinking about this really hard,” Oikawa drawled after swallowing his favorite milk bread, cheek resting on top of the desk.

“Knowing Oikawa is thinking hard, must be something stupid,” Hanamaki commented.

“Why did you say that so casually!?” sure enough, the slander managed to revive the captain from his slump–shooting out from his seat almost instantly.

Currently, it was lunch and the third years were hanging out at Iwaizumi and your class–pushing your desks together and pulled up a few chairs to accommodate five people at the same time. While you packed your own lunch and Oikawa brought his milk bread, the rest was taking a short journey to the cafeteria for food.

“I couldn’t help but agree,” Matsukawa added, hurting the boy’s pride even further.

“[Nickname]-chan!” of course, the best way for him to be out of this misery is to call out for your help.

“What is it?” you decided to indulge him this time because the captain seemed to be invested in this certain topic each minute passed.

Oikawa pointed at you before moving to gesture Hanamaki, Matsukawa, and Iwaizumi along with him including. “You are surrounded by boys.”

Furrowing your eyebrows in confusion, you answered nonetheless. “…I can see that.”

“A lot of boys for more than three years!”

“Well, I am the manager of the boys’ volley club if you forget.”

“What are you on about?” Iwaizumi deadpanned, not liking how this certain topic stretched out–the ‘ridiculous alarm’ in the back of his head was ringing, signaling that indeed this conversation went from least normal to weird in an alarming rate.

“Don’t you see, Iwa-chan!?” Oikawa gasped dramatically, pointing towards you in earnest. “[Nickname]-chan is surrounded by boys for more than three years! You bound to like some at some point! Why have I never heard about this!? I thought I’m your best friend!”

There’s a pregnant silence before Hanamaki broke it by remarking, “You really are a moron.”

Oikawa pressed a hand upon his chest, faking as if an arrow just stabbed through his heart–not believing this sort of betrayal. “I’m hurt Makki!”

“But he does have a point,” Matsukawa, with his saving grace, decided to take this into his account for once. He looked at you for a moment and hummed. “I mean, everyone has been through that phase somehow. Wanna share?”

“Thank you for making my point valid!” Oikawa harrumphed in triumph, which earned him a disgusted gaze from Iwaizumi.

You sighed in resignation, finally getting into conclusion. “To put it simple, you want to know about my nonexistent love life?”

“I’ve seen you getting confessed to by a senior so it’s not really nonexistent.” Hanamaki commented, pulling up a lazy smirk as he rested his chin on his palm–successfully dragged out another resigned sigh. And how did he even know that was beyond you.

“Well, what do you want to know?”

“Did you have a crush on someone during middle school!?” Oikawa exclaimed–the ruckus he caused managed to gather pairs of curious eyes diverting their gaze towards their table, and received a heartful smack on the back of his head courtesy of Iwaizumi.

“I did.” Your quick answer without a hint of hesitation made the four taken aback–definitely not expecting it. They were more ready with lots of stutter, reluctancy to reply, and flaming red engulfing your face as you confessed to them–the usual routine if someone ever dug other’s deepest secret.

“That was fast,” Matsukawa remarked, shoulders eased up a little. True, even though you’re practically under the spotlight of sudden interrogation you didn’t feel the need to be nervous or flustered–which kind of intimidated them a bit. Contrast to it, they were actually the ones who were tense with whatever answer you had in store–maybe this is what you called an anticipation.

They would declare themselves a hypocrite if not once they thought of you as someone who’s not attractive–considering you were getting attentions from others especially during official matches. They’re the opposite gender so of course they took it to their mind at some moment.

“So, who is it?” Hanamaki asked, rising a brow.

“Tooru.”

“…Please tell me you’re joking.” If short-circuiting is capable to happen in one’s brain, then Iwaizumi had that undoubtedly. You? Had a crush on Oikawa during middle school? At this moment, snowing in tropical regions would likely be more possible than your statement. Even Hanamaki and Matsukawa found themselves rendered speechless by your revelation.

“Sadly not,” all of his hope was crushed in an instant. You then directed a bored stare towards the said mentioned person. “To be honest, I’m questioning myself too. Do my taste really stooped that low?”

“Y-You’re mean, [Nickname]-chan!” Oikawa protested. “But it’s nice knowing my charms works on you!”

“Thank goodness you’ve opened your eyes for the truth, [First Name],” Matsukawa sighed in relief, incurring another series of protests from the brunette and a satisfied firm nod from Hanamaki.

“I’m assuming you’re not currently?” the pink-haired boy added which earned him a nod.

“I’m over it, it’s an old story after all,” You took a short second for swallowing before continuing, smiling playfully. “Knowing he’s vowed his unending loyalty to volleyball, I know when to back off.”

“You are a good person,” Hanamaki hummed in understanding. It’s difficult to recover from heartbreak or backing down from a certain feelings, you managed to do that for Oikawa earn another respect point from him. You thought of the brunette thoroughly unlike the girls he’s been with, you respect and fully support him instead of telling him to tone down his ambitions for aiming higher in volleyball.

“That, I can agree.” Unexpectedly, it came from the mentioned captain. His playfulness vanished as he moved to rested his chin on top of the desk. There’s solemn reflected on his eyes which you couldn’t quite decipher; was it guilt?

“If you’re thinking on apologizing then don’t,” Stating firmly, you placed your chopsticks down to emphasized. Because there’s nothing for him to apologize. Not with things which wasn’t in his control to begin with. “I can’t choose to who to like, and it’s my own decision anyway. If I felt hurt, it’s on me. You’re not responsible for any of it, Tooru. Besides, either it’s romantic or not, I still love you.”

People would take it as cringe worthy or too dramatic in modern era such as currently. However, that’s how feelings worked; sometimes extremely hard to put into words, sometimes it didn’t even need to be vocalized. Your words held honesty–no matter what, you cared for Tooru, Hajime, and the others immensely.

“[Nickname]-channn!!” As usual, there’s fake waterworks involved as soon as Oikawa successfully comprehended. As usual, he bolted from his seat to threw himself on you. Though, you keep it to yourself when you took a notice on how his hug was firmer than the usual playful ones.

Then there were more hands joining in; one settled on your head, one resting on your shoulder, and a little finger intertwined itself with yours. It was quite a sight to see, but you couldn’t care less.
