#ohkaleakat heard about an art contest through the #YMCA. To enter she needed to create a picture depicting a fairytale scene that involved food. She chose Beauty and the Beast. To the put together lady who walked into Burger King today: for a moment I was envious of you and your styled hair, dress pants, and high heeled shoes. I've been pouring from an empty cup for so long, I can barely remember what it is like to wear something other than workout pants and a messy bun. My hands haven't seen a nail salon in so long, they may go into shock if they ever experience one again. I was sitting here, in the otherwise empty play area, envious of you, and wondering if it would be bad parenting to take a nap while my kids played. Then this happened. All three of my kids, smiles and giggles, gathered around me for a picture. The first time in a long time there have been smiles instead of bickering and whining. I may not be put together, and sometimes I might even miss the woman who was, but for now, I'll embrace these rare moments, and pray for joy instead of weariness. #wellofaith #parenting #anxiety #ohlenirae #ohkaleakat #ohvantheman #motherhood #parentingisexhausting

Today this crazy girl turned 10. Ever day she gets more sure of herself and more independent. It won't be long before she is a teenager, with even more drama than I'll know what to do with. Until then I'll try tontale a step back and embrace our daily struggles right along with the giggles, grins, and deep discussions. 💃 While we are still technically homeless as we continue navigating this transition, our family of the heart made sure she had a wonderful day filled with midday cake and Ice cream, birthday songs, and gifts.
