happy Solarpunk Aesthetic Week! today i give you: little concept doodle. tomorrow, who knows? 🤷

been thinking about what transportation would look like in the solarpunk noon story i've been slowly working on. rickshaws have long been a part of Asian history, and bananas play a huge role in our local culture, so i made them do the kiss and this thing was born! more details below~

is this rickshaw design functional from a technical standpoint? no, but it's okay. close your eyes. take my hand. let's imagine a better world i drew a trishaw that is anatomically accurate and focus on the fancy, scientifically-questionable features instead ✨

since in my region winter doesn't exist (yet...), my main priority was designing a vehicle that can make use of our 2 beloved seasons: hot and wet <3 i was trying to do something cool with the concept of evapotranspiration, but i don't reeeally know if this idea holds water (haha). so if any smarter folks wanna take a crack at it, i will love you forever

i definitely tuk some ideas from the Thai style Tuk Tuks, probably one of the most well-known modern versions of the rickshaw (the last time i rode on one my hat literally flew off in the first ten seconds. 10/10).

okay so this is in Melaka, and they are obviously tourist traps, but i love them ok. i Love them. look at how far we can push the boundaries of our silly, of our creativity. we could have this sort of whimsy EVERY DAY!!!

plus, the uncle who drove my family around last time was so enthusiastic about taking us around! he infodumped non-stop about the history and cultural significance of every landmark we passed, while laughing the whole time, and i just think that's beautiful.

and what's more solarpunk than stuffing a local beca to the brim with all the little things that we love?

look at this. imagine if they were Real, Living flowers. imagine hopping into one of these every morning. a little roving, rolling garden, taking you wherever you wish to go. each beca frame lovingly customized, harboring their own unique little ecosystems. tiny worlds to discover. imagine that subtle floral fragrance accompanying you, as you chat with your driver on the way back home. maybe you're the driver. maybe you're just a passerby, but a glimpse of that interaction is enough to make your day. maybe this can be our life. are you sold? i'm sold.

Like I've said before. General Trans Scott enthusiast here- I love the idea of their little support network *violent coughing* I (we?) mean polycule *violent coughing* so fucking much.

Ramona I think has a bit of a more gentle hand with reassuring Scott with gender issues, but sometimes she just can't help herself from some pointed banter or teasing- how could you with someone so dense? (Said w affection)

And then Kim I think is more blunt. But like, in a good way mostly, you know? The kinda blunt that makes you snap to attention and go "Oh. Yeah that was silly of me." And if Ramona's started some sort of banter? Kim is SO piling on. Maybe sometimes she's a bit TOO blunt with it- but it's only because she's so firm in her support. She wants Scott to Get It Together- and be happier for it. So if some ribbing now and again is in order, then goddamnit she will do so! Anything to crack that shell.

And ohhh can you imagine how they would react to some transphobic bullshit?? Unholy terror would be driven into the offender before they walk off with an absurd amount of coins between them. I can feel it in my bones. Scott doesn't even have to lift a finger (if the transphobe is even noticed/processed at all, bc I honestly can see Scott just. Not realizing someone's being transphobic.) Kim giving someone a lashing with her tongue as distraction and then Ramona coming in with the hammer- BAM! Free Money! Paying literally with your life for your transphobia. A Better And Just World.

And of course (transfem Scott more specifically, here,) the way Scott would start to flourish under their support... cagey and maybe a little (perhaps a lot-) resistant to start- but Kim's blunt affirmations and no nonsense attitude for bullshit (which is what Scott insisting on "being cis" would be, c'mon now,) and Ramona's also low bullshit tolerance but less Stabby (bc I won't lie, that's probably how Kim's comments would feel,) assurances? Ough... My Heart... Be Still-

anyways. so basically...

(theory under the cut because i dont want this post to be too long ksdjnfsd; also this is technically 2 theories so buckle up, its gonna be a long ride LOL)

there's a policy that a lot of real-would space travel organizations have which dictates you're not allowed to have sex in space due to the risk of pregnancy.

if we assume that this policy has been adopted by pony express, it opens up the possibility that, contrary to popular fandom belief, jimmy didn't rape anya.

this theory also incorporates certain details from the developer q&a, which can be found on the steam announcement page.

in order, here's the theory & my evidence:

anya's unwillingness to feed curly his painkillers is because she's unprepared to care for someone at his level of injury. according to part 1 of the q&a, anya has never been to medical school, and her only training was provided by pony expresss: a company notorious for cutting corners. considering this, i find it perfectly understandable that she'd find it emotionally difficult to literally shove pills down a severely disabled man's throat; especially since he was formerly her superior. it's a reminder of how just one mistake can damage you for life, which fits the game's themes of taking responsibility and putting effort into fixing your mistakes.

anya's general demeanor around jimmy post-crash seems less afraid and more exasperated to me. the way she praises him for somewhat minimal-effort tasks but otherwise avoids him when necessary reads more like she considers it easier to play along with him rather than confront him, since he's already exhibited somewhat unstable tendencies prior to the crash (specifically, his hostility towards curly during the party). related to this point, the q&a reveals that she's read up on psychology during her tenure on the tulpar... but we'll get to that later.

during the first flashback segment, we learn that jimmy doesn't take the psych evaluations seriously. this, to me, indicates an unwillingness to follow company policy, as well as a significant lack of foresight, as at this point none of the crew are aware that pony express will no longer exist as a corporate entity when they return to earth. i mention this because, even if the crew didn't get laid off, jimmy would likely still receive a penalty just for refusing to give honest answers on his psych evals alone (after all, we know how pony express is about punishing their employees).

both anya's and jimmy's remarks during curly's birthday party imply that they're financially struggling. anya states that she has no savings, and jimmy says that once he's laid off, he'll go back to his "struggle of a life". part 3 of the q&a also states that jimmy can't even afford to have hobbies, implying that he's really not well off at all. following this logic, neither jimmy or anya would be able to care for a child.

the scene with swansea and anya in the cockpit, as well as swansea's later reference to it ("anya told [him] a whole lot of things") is interesting. some things to note about swansea are that 1. he's "really into workplace safety" (according to daisuke), and 2. he doesn't think highly of people who let their sexual desires control them or make bad decisions as a result of sexual desire (i.e., his criticism of daisuke's tendency to think with his "downstairs longnose"). if we assume that, considering jimmy's lack of foresight or respect for the rules, he and anya had consensual sex that ended up resulting in a pregnancy which anya told swansea about, it would make sense for swansea to still disapprove of jimmy's actions, as it would be against company policy and an instance of jimmy "thinking with his downstairs longnose" (sorry you had to read that sentence twice).

here's the big one: the dead pixel and anya's observation about locks. lots of people in this fandom forget that you can have consensual sex and regret it later. this scene, to me, represents anya regretting having had sex with jimmy because of the pregnancy. the dead pixel represents her observations in hindsight, and her comment about the lack of locks on the sleeping quarters reflects how she wishes she thought more about her decision and chosen to just sleep instead. additionally, curly's remark about "safety" could have made anya realize that, since jimmy has already proven himself to be unstable, he might do something drastic in response to finding out she's pregnant...

...which is why she hides the gun in the next flashback. when curly confronts her about it, she states that she was hiding the gun from jimmy. while she does mention that she knew curly would "never give her the gun to protect herself" with, i believe that her main motive behind hiding the gun was to protect jimmy instead, for a specific reason...

piggybacking off of the above topic, jimmy's response to anya's pregnancy being so quiet is telling, i think. if he assaulted her, don't you think he would've done more rather than just walk away? wouldn't he have at least told her to make some excuse for him? speaking of jimmy's reaction...

when jimmy speaks to curly just before crashing the ship, it seems more like he's talking about being laid off & penalized for breaking policy as opposed to being arrested. considering the earlier revelation that jimmy is impoverished on earth, it's a much bigger deal to him than it likely is to most of the others on the ship, which is why he decides that the best course of action is to crash the ship. why can't he get another job? we'll get to that right now:

jimmy likely has paranoid schizophrenia. my friend, julian (@saya-sakisaka, who is schizophrenic himself), pointed out to me that jimmy exhibits symptoms that he himself experiences, such as having a generally angry/irritable demeanor and visual & auditory hallucinations for much of the game. furthermore, jimmy's reaction to anya's pregnancy may be due to pregnancy itself being one of jimmy's triggers, which in turn marks the beginning of a psychotic break that lasts for most of the game (as evidenced by much of the more tense/traditionally "scary" gameplay taking place within jimmy's hallucinations, most of which involve some sort of pregnancy symbolism and come directly after jimmy is placed in situations that cause him stress).

something else that julian pointed out to me is that, unfortunately, many paranoid schizophrenics attempt suicide during psychotic episodes. this brings me back to an earlier point in this post: anya may have hid the gun from jimmy in order to stop him from committing suicide, and may have known about his schizophrenia due to her knoweldge of psychology. on that note as well, jimmy may have deliberately lied on psych evaluations in order to hide the fact that he has this disorder (or, alternatively, is in denial of his disorder; both explanations giving a reason for anya to disguise her attempt at protecting jimmy as one at protecting herself), and may have also taken the news that pony express is going under so hard because it would be extremely difficult for him to get another job because of his disorder. after all, in "the last one and then another", it's revealed that jimmy only has this job because of curly.

tl;dr: pony express policy forbids having sex on company ships, and jimmy and anya had consensual sex that they both regret because it resulted in a pregnancy that would be detrimental to both of them because of this policy, their financial situations, and jimmy having paranoid schizophrenia & having pregnancy as a trigger.

omaigod, i love yr reverse age au prompts, it has entirely CONSUMED my brain. We've seen how Daniel interacts with the veterans of the paddock (Nando and Lewis) but what about the younger drivers, like the 2019 rookies?? so the way I've kinda tiered it in my brain is that we have the vets: Lewis, Nando, Checo, Hulk, Valtteri all the guys over thirty

then we have the guys in Max's age group, including the 2019 rookies. so Max, Lando, George, Alex, Charles, Carlos, Lance, Estie etc

And then we have the guys in Daniel's age groups, so the newer rookies. Oscar, Zhou, Daniel, Yuki, Jack etc

Now that I actually had to like think about that and not just vaguely have it floating in my head as a 'reference' I think that Daniel would get on really well with the younger guys-- i mean he drove against them in the feeder serieses and all of that jazz, so he knows and is comfy with them. plus theyre like a little pod of 'holy shit we're in f1' together

I think the shit stirrers are def the 2019 rookies. Because a) they know Max. So they know when he's being weird about someone. and he's been twitchy since Daniel became his teammate and uber weird since that Asian double header.

It's Lance who lets it slip that Daniel slept with Nando and Lewis. what was supposed to be a sneaky message to Estie while eavesdropping on Nando making plans with Lewis ended up being an accidental bomb in one of their discord servers that Charles booted Max out of and hadn't been arsed to add him back, and no one else could becasue only Charles had mod privilages. So they didn't really use that group because Max made a new one anyway but they have similar names and Lance hadn't been paying attention

Alex is the one who declared that clearly Max and Daniel had been fucking around and Max was upset. And then the chat kinda went something like this;

George: it seems to really make him upset seeing Daniel with them Charles: so does that mean Daniel's free game? Charles: 👀👀 Carlos: 👀👀 Lance: 🤨 Alex: 💀 💀 Lando: Oh this is gonna be so good

I think hell breaks loose after that. I mean, as we said before, Daniel has a good rapport with everyone on the grid and if he becomes seemingly more popular, then that's no ones business.

I think Nando catches on first, when he sees Carlos flirting with Daniel and Daniel blushing hard. And Nando smiles a shark smile to Lewis, because they both know this will benefit them in the end

And Max is seeing all of this and wondering when the fuck everyone became so close with Daniel.

yes!!! it's me!!! i'm ryomina fan (one of many)!!! thank you for visiting my askbox, i'll do my best to answer all of the questions because it always makes me happy to see that ryomina sparks joy for people! :D

...this got really long because i like linking to things, so i'm putting it under a read more (IM VERY NORMAL ABOUT THEM)

how did i get into it? i got into persona 3 around august 2021 through the movies- at the time my only experience with the persona series was with P5R / P5S / P5D. p3 was the one that interested me the most (i thought minato was very pretty + i caught wind that the themes of the game were very resonant with people). i picked the movies over the game because i'm a guy who plays games at a snails pace, haha.

admittedly, i did latch onto ryomina because of the scenes in the third and fourth movie (i have mentioned in the tags of this art i drew how much i felt like i was exploding and blasting off to the moon watching it).

but what really dug me into the ryomina hole (and what has kept me there) was thinking about how much ryoji encapsulates the themes of p3- and how interconnected his fate is with minato. i wrote some musings about their dynamic here, if you're interested!

tl;dr: what if we were both boys and we were mirror images of each other and i inherited your kindness and looks but god doomed our narrative even though we're soulmates

on ryomina fanworks recommendations:

regarding fics: i'm going to assume that you've probably read the fics that have the highest kudo ratings on them, so i won't really be listing those.

a personal favorite fic that i always hold close to my heart is Eurydice's Vow by crescentmoontea, which explores the idea of ryomina in p5r's third semester. this was the first fic i read about ryomina and it made me tear up lots...

i also think a lot about I Alone Await You by Nail_gun, literally scrumptious writing that captures the ryomina dynamic so so well. actually check out Nail_gun's other ryomina fics while you're at it too!

other fun fic i'm fond of: can't get my mind out of those memories (what were they?) by foxmulder_whereartthou. ryoji being homeless lives rent free in my head and it's all because of this fic. there's a bunch of other fun ryominas from the same author too (i still need to read them)

BkZa555 also has some fun AU scenarios if you're into that too, notably with Zagreus (P5-Setting, Ryoji focus) and The Definition of Insanity (TIME LOOP fuckery!), but they're currently ongoing.

these were some ones that came to my mind first- as i have the strongest recollection reading them. admittedly i haven't really been reading fic this year, so i don't have many recommendations from fic that came out this year. but if you're so inclined to let ryomina consume your soul, i definitely recommend giving the newer works in the ryomina tag a look-see and see if it strikes your fancy!

as a side note, i do have a few ryomina fics that i've bookmarked on my ao3 here, though i have to say that i'm not sure how well they hold up in terms of like... what i would seek out of a fic these days. but they made past me happy so i bookmarked them, LOL. it's kind of outdated (my collection of fic recs has my old username *disintegrates*).

regarding doujinshi: i have not read all the ryomina doujinshi available, but as a starting point, please take a look at this list from pandora-scans from livejournal!

notably, this is where you can find the strawberry-chan say good bye doujin- which features a small and cute comic from shuji sogabe (the p3/p4 manga artist), as well as other artists. the existence of this doujinshi is the funniest thing to me because it's like "HEY if you're wondering what the volume 8 cover is really gay it's because sogabe contributed to a ryomina doujin." this fact makes my head spin (positive). it explains a lot about the manga.

regarding persona side material:

i know you didn't ask for these but i thought that i mine as well list these too, since i feel that the side materials have some fun expansions on ryoji and minato's interactions. i haven't... watched/read all of these but, hey, i like to share these things!

I have a headcanon that Kibosh has a Compelling Voice. This ability is a privilege bestowed upon him as King of the Netherworld. Be they human or monster, living or dead, all who hear his Command must obey, without question or hesitance. He rarely uses it because usually his intimidating countenance is enough, but he does have it.

And part of the reason he dislikes the McFaddens so much is that, for whatever reason, they are completely immune to his power. This applies to all members of the family, even ones that aren’t McFaddens by blood, like Elizabeth or Spooky. As King of the Netherworld, it is his duty to preserve and protect the Balance, and this defiance, intentional or not, spits in the face of that Balance.

That makes me giggle. All in a good way because this spirit has the great power to have all of existence bend to him. But for some reason, that family known as the McFaddens are not compelled to bend to his rule. (Well, the important ones here anyways.)

It's truly not their intention to be such a way. They can't help that their souls are this. It's not like they do anything nefarious or anything opposite to it. They simply are existing.

Which Fun Lore Info!:

Not even Death itself knew of their demises coming so quickly. As for Death here in this iteration, they have a system in place. One that has a time and a place of when life dies, but something. Someone deliberately broke the paths of the McFaddens here. Among a few others who were likely connected to the family.

And it caused Death to come to a screeching halt for the first time in centuries. Not because it was shocking. No, because it was sloppy. Real sloppy.

Death was already checking in one of the McFadden's death on the April 14th, 1912, but when inspecting the many souls falling into place, the list was off. This soul was supposed to be gone, yet there was a blotch of blood above them.

It wasn't supposed to be there at all. Especially not stained with the smell of rotten blood. Someone tampered with the order and it completely stained the family line. Literally.
