This exchange haunted me so much, I had to draw what I imagined went through Crowley's mind - how being an angel of Heaven ended for him last time.

Also, the person who pointed out that Crowley's snake eyes in all likelihood prevent him from seeing the stars and nebulas he created took years off my life 🙃, so here's the combination of all the feels I was having.

one of the many incredibly refreshing things about brassic is how dylan gets held accountable. you see the dynamic pretty much from the start - dylan is the 'responsible' one insofar as he doesn't cause trouble, but goes along with it. vinnie's impulsive and usually the one masterminding the group's plans, so he gets the reputation for being the troublemaker. it was likely very easy for dylan to just say 'vinnie made me do it' for years when they were growing up, and that was a surefire deflection tactic. so dylan's never had to think for himself, always been able to coast just under the radar when consequences come around, and he never quite grows out of that because he doesn't get challenged on it.

but then you have his relationship with erin, and where he starts dropping the ball when it comes to taking care of tyler. he doesn't pick up tyler from school because he chooses to leave work early and help with stealing the shetland pony, and he's genuinely upset that he's going to let erin & tyler down when that plan goes south, but he takes it out on vinnie, and vinnie shuts him down quick - you've got a mind of your own, use it. you're not here because i made you, you're here because you want to be. erin takes him to task too, makes it clear she expects him to make his own choices and deal with the consequences of them fully.

and then, god, the scene where he mentions to vinnie that he's probably going to skip town with erin soon, and vinnie doesn't give dylan the reaction he wants, you see it in action. instead of trying to get him to stay, vinnie just goes well yeah it's your choice. and dylan throws vinnie's suicidal ideation in his face. he didn't get the chance to use vinnie as an excuse to drag his heels on making a decision, so he tried to manipulate it out of him even more blatantly. really well crafted scene, really excellent dissection of the archetype of character. dylan's not a bad person per se, just a lazy one who finds his usual means of escaping consequence aren't working anymore, and he doesn't know how to take responsibility.

actually the idea of petuniajames infidelity has crazy potential and is making me feel insane. this one has an extra kick to it... and they were both complicit
