junmyeon x f!reader
a/n pardon me i havent wrote anything in like a month (been updating on my wp and havent been active here) so i apologize if my writing is shitty 😭
you hadn't seen junmyeon in a while. it was normal. because, well — you weren't exactly close to him. though, your heart still stupidly aches whenever you thought of him. and the cause came from your small crush towards him. not exactly small.
even as you say that, junmyeon doesn't think of you just as friend. he considered you to be one of his closest friend. and he's been missing you dearly. and it definitely wasn't because of his not exactly small crush on you.
so when the two of you had an encounter in front of the groceries store, he didn't waste even a single second to browse the store with you.
with a basket in both of his hands — one yours and the other, his, junmyeon walked behind you while still keeping a close distant. he likes this distant. you looking at your list of things to buy quite frequently while he just enjoyed looking at your expressions. he completely forgot about the groceries that he needed to do — the one that his roommate had clearly reminded him to not forget about.
"junmyeon, do you think i should buy this?" he quickly snapped out of his stupor and looked at you as he fumbled with his words. "oh- yeah! definitely," he smiled. junmyeon doesn't even know what you wanted to buy. for all he cares, you were smiling and that's enough.
after paying for everything — which includes your stuff, he walks you back to your apartment until you were right in front of your doorstep. "we should do this again sometime," the male suggested. "we should," you offered him a shy smile. "i- uhh... well, i'll go inside now," you gave him an awkward smile and take one of the plastic bag from his hand.
the moment you were out of sight, he was smiling to himself and celebrating with a silent scream while punching the air in excitement. he felt like he was in daze. he didn't even realize it when he arrives at his own apartment. "hyung, didn't you buy my snacks?" the younger male pouted as he looks at his empty hand.
looks like he had to do another round of grocery shopping.
.
junmyeon had to double take when he sees you hanging out with sehun. why were you laughing that hard? why is his arm around your shoulder? or the fact that you were hanging out with him in the first place?
of course you would. you were close to him. to his roommate — sehun.
his heart aches ever so slightly everytime you laughed at the words sehun said. junmyeon knew well enough that the younger man was quite funny without even trying to. even when he tried his hardest, he knew that he could never be as funny as sehun. or just as attractive.
"oh, hey," you gave him an awkward wave, accompanied by your shy smile. you wonder how you looked in his eyes right now. do you look weird? does he think that you were being weird? should you have just kept quiet instead?
the male was slightly surprised when you paid attention to him first. he gave you a polite smile and nodded, his heart fluttering at your cute smile.
"hyung, we were just talking about you," sehun gave him a mischievous smile. no, he didn't talk about junmyeon. as usual, the younger male simply likes to tease the older male.
"we thought it would be funny if you were to do a cartwheel in front of many people," sehun smiled childishly. the older male only let out a scoffed, an amused yet embarrassed smile plastering his lips.
he could see you laughing softly to yourself when sehun made the joke. he likes it. the sound of your laughter. but at the same time, he hates it. he wasn't the source of your laughter. sehun was the one who made you laugh. he didn't.
"i uhh... i'll go to my room," junmyeon offered you a polite smile before retreating to his room.
.
you had thought to yourself that, the past few months had been going great with junmyeon. he's been flirting in his own awkward way. but somehow, he had been ghosting you for a few days now.
after that little grocery date you had with junmyeon, the two of you started talking more, hanging out more.
so when you waved at him but he decided to ignore you and walk the other way, you felt a stab in your heart. you weren't about to let him get away with this. your feet was quick to ran after him. this felt like a drama where all the confessions would take in place.
"junmyeon," you panted slightly, your hand gripped the sleeve of his shirt. from the look of it, he had just got his hair done. he wanted to pull away. but he doesn't have it in his heart to do that to you. to do that to the girl he likes to the point it was driving him crazy.
"why... didn't you answer to any of my texts? i was worried..." he was still facing the other way, but you could feel his body stiffening. "was busy with work," he answered and there was a slight tremble in his voice. you loosened your grip on his sleeve and nodded, accepting his answer. "then why did you look away when i waved at you? or- or why did you walk the other way? did i do something wrong? did you not want to be friends with me anymore?"
you want an answer out of him.
you didn't even notice it but you were crying. oh, you don't just like him, you were starting to fall for him. "i-i'm sorry if i did anything wrong-"
your words were stopped when he gripped both of your shoulders and pulled you in for a kiss. it was rough and full of emotion. it was as if he was pouring every feelings into the kiss. one of his hand soon moved to cup your cheek, wiping the tears away while the other finds it's place on your hip. when he finally pulled away, you could see his cheeks were also wet. he had been crying too.
his hands desperately move to wipe your cheeks without minding his own dishevel look. "i'm sorry," he whispered softly. "i kissed you without your permission," he lowered his gaze in embarrassment. "i... i liked you too much. no — i was starting to fall for you," his cheeks flushed slightly. "and i was scared that it was going to hurt me,"
"i couldn't hear you talking like that about yourself so i kissed you without thinking," he mutters. "i understand if you want to stop being friends with me-" you immediately covered his mouth with your hands and shook your head. "no, i- i really like you. i- i like you, too," your face flushed slightly.
his hand gently came up to remove yours from his mouth. "really?" junmyeon could hardly believe what he was hearing. you nodded, confirming his disbelief. he pulled you in for a hug. tightly. his face buried in your neck, breathing in your scent as if to confirm that this was real. he got you. the kindest, prettiest girl in his eyes.

Still top xiumin x bottom m reader
Xiumin proposes to reader after years of being together in the most romantic way possible and they celebrate with his band mates and after the celebration, reader and xiumin celebrate on their own privately ;3
Im thinking something sweet and romantic with some good smutssss
Also happy anniversary. Kinda funny how it’s 3 years and you also just got 300 followers as well. That be awesome congrats bestie 🖤❤️🖤
★ 𝚙𝚊𝚒𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐: 𝚡𝚒𝚞𝚖𝚒𝚗 𝚡 𝚖𝚊𝚕𝚎!𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚛
★ 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚍 𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚝: 𝟾𝟻𝟹
xiumin is nervous. he's never been more nervous about anything in his entire 30-something years of living.
his clammy hands grip the soft velvet box in the pocket of his jeans. he watches [name] in front of him on the bridge, the male looking down into the murky water infested with fish and frogs.
this bridge is special to xiumin and [name]. the two had met here 15 years ago, when xiumin watched a group of boys push poor [name] into the muddy water, getting the male's white shirt all dirty.
xiumin wasted no time in rushing over to help the boy out of the gross water. he didn't care if his shoes and the bottoms of his pants were wet, he was more worried about the boy with tears in his eyes.
xiumin never wanted to see the boy cry ever again.
from that day forward, xiumin and [name] grew close. they became friends quickly, and throughout the remainder of their teenage years, they harbored feelings for each other but didn't act on them until their early 20s.
now the two of them are in their mid-thirties and more in love as the days go by. so in love that xiumin can't believe he hasn't done this sooner.
"xiumin, come look at the turtles!"
[name]'s voice shakes xiumin out of his trance of reminiscing. he takes a deep breath and walks toward [name], who still isn't looking in xiumin's direction. xiumin decides to bite the bullet and get over his nerves. he kneels down on one knee and clears his throat.
"i've always wanted a turtle, but my mom always said it was too big of a hassle. it's not too late to-" [name] stops talking as he turns to his left, seeing xiumin down on one knee. the male's breath hitches as his hand comes up to cover his mouth. [name] can feel the tears welling up in his eyes.
"[name], i brought you to this bridge because it means a lot to me. it's the first place we met, the place we shared our first kiss, and now it's the place where i am proposing to you." xiumin says, a few tears falling down his cheeks, "you mean the entire world to me and i want to make it last for as long as we both are breathing. so will you marry me?" xiumin says, looking up at [name] with the dopiest smile on his handsome face.
"oh, xiumin, what kind of idiot would i be if i said no?" [name] cries out as he pulls xiumin to his feet and wraps his arms around the male. after they hug, they share a kiss and xiumin slips the ring on [name]'s finger.
"we have to call the others, they're all waiting for me to call them and tell them how it went." xiumin says and he pulls out his phone, video chatting with baekhyun, who picks up immediately.
"well? did you do it? did [name] say yes?" baekhyun asks, speaking fast, and xiumin can see the others fighting to get in the frame.
xiumin laughs as [name] shows the other seven males the ring on his finger the males erupt in cheers of all kinds. "we're coming over right now to celebrate with you guys."
"well hurry your asses up! sehun is about to pop the champagne!" he hears chen cry out, his head popping out of the frame to stop sehun from opening the champagne prematurely.
after the video call ends, xiumin and [name] make their way to baekhyun and chanyeol's shared house.
xiumin and [name] get back to their own shared house and the two are already stripping their clothes off their backs. the two males share a deep kiss, their tongues rubbing against one another as they stumble to their room
xiumin pushes [name] onto the bed and hovers over the male. he kisses and bites [name]'s neck, making sure to leave a nice, red mark on his skin. xiumin drinks in the noises [name] makes and it fuels him with confidence.
"gonna fuck you so good, baby," xiumin says, growling into [name]'s ear, his hand stroking the male's half-hard cock, "gonna make you feel really good."
"hurry, xiu, feel like i'm gonna explode." [name] whines, his hips bucking upas his chest turns red.
"alright, baby. i'll be nice and give you what you want this time. but don't expect me to be this nice for round 2."
xiumin makes sure [name] is prepped enough to take his fat dick. he splits [name] open on his slender fingers for a bit before he impales [name] with his cock. he slams in and out of [name]'s tight heat, his arms planted on either side of [name].
xiumin and [name] keep each other close; kissing, touching, and moaning. they let out noises only meant for the other to hear the two of them becoming one as they share this intimate moment.
it doesn't end at sexual intimacy, though. now they have something bigger to look forward to:
the rest of their lives as one.

More than a partner | Sehun
Idol Sehun x Actress Reader Word count: 3446 Genre: fluff Author: maari Warnings: Mentions of reader having a water phobia, themes like witches and rituals, probably some grammar mistakes Note: OH GOD FINALLY!!!! I was so excited to write this request that I ended up getting blocked with this one since last year 😫 I was confident but I don't know if it turned out as good as I wanted it to, but I liked it! Request: I'd like to make one for sehun x reader pls!! I've been watching busted and i really like the idea of having reader be one of the cast in busted alongside sehun. So like there would be scenes where they're both scaredy cats, but sehun still tries to protect her. So just sehun being all protective!! Some inspo could be in s2 ep 6 with the guiya village, and in s1 with the vampire thing. Like reader is scared with the supernatural stuff, heights, deep waters, but isn't afraid to still try soo cue the tears oop hahahah and sehun comforting her maybe??Umm, another request could be jealous sehun but like he doesn't know why he's jealous or their feelings are just starting to grow. So like it could be shown when there are cute male guests in the show haha and reader is like 😍And maybe sehun and reader just displaying their competitiveness (either them teaming up or against each other, up to you) ⫷ Exo Masterlist
Season 4, Episode 1
The detective group is back, except for one person.
They met in front of the Sealife Busan Aquarium after receiving an anonymous message asking everyone to arrive at seven pm, when the aquarium is closed and without public. Everyone is confused because they don't know who is behind the message and why they’re there. The dimly lit street didn’t allow the group to notice an approaching figure.
Minyoung was the first to notice, she screamed and raised her hands to her head while the other detectives looked towards where she was doing it and the figure was revealed.
"Who are you?" Jaesuk asked, laughing nervously.
All detectives are looking at the girl, curious, confused and scared. Exactly in that order.
"One of you is missing." she changed the subject, looking at the five.
Jaesuk, Kwangsoo, Minyoung, Jongmin, Seung Gi and Sehun.
Yes, someone was missing.
"You know us? Whoa." Kwangsoo spoke, not knowing what to do.
"So, you called us here?" Minyoung asked, seeing that no one would.
"Yes, I'm Y/N." she swallowed hard. "Well, you know my father, Jaewook."
The detectives opened their mouths even wider in shock, Jongmin and Jaesuk started laughing, trying to contain themselves.
But as they laughed more, the others followed.
"Wait." Jaesuk raised his hands. "He is your father?"
Y/N nodded in agreement, the corners of her mouth turning up as she glared at him.
"I don't know what's more impressive, him having a daughter or finding someone who wanted to be with him." Kwangsoo spoke, looking shocked and that made the others laugh, Sehun even slapped his arm with laughter.
"I got a message from an unknown number saying they have him." She spoke seriously and suddenly everyone was in shock, tension was in the air.
Then, Y/N approached the group to show the message, it was exactly as she said. Just saying that someone had Detective Jaewook and another number of coordinates, which led to the aquarium.
Y/N who had the idea to get the detectives together so they could help her look for her father because she didn't know what to do and who to look for.
They agreed that there must be something out there so they split into two groups, one to look outside and the other inside the aquarium.
Y/N, Seungi Gi, Jaesuk and Sehun would go to the aquarium, it was empty as it was closed, no staff in sight and it was incredibly dark.
Y/N explained that she was back in town and had a date with her father in the afternoon, however instead of meeting him at the family home, she got the message.
When they entered the aquarium, with fearful steps, Y/N took a step back when she saw the large glass filled with water and animals.
"Whoa, that's…a little too much, isn't it?" She said, laughing nervously and Sehun looked at her worriedly.
"What?" Seungi Gi asked as they walked further inside.
"I think this is a bad time to say that I have a water phobia." Y/N replied as she cringed as she looked at the fishbowl and the three men laughed.
"Are you afraid of water and have you come to the aquarium?" Jaesuk asked curiously and laughed.
"What could I do?" She shrugged and jumped when a stingray swam overhead. "Oh, that scared me!"
The team continued searching as Y/N continued to flinch as a very large fish swam very close to the glass and the men laughed but looked worriedly at her. However, when the shark tank arrived, she grabbed the back of Sehun's shirt and hid behind him.
"Don't be scared, they won't get you." He spoke to her, but let her hide behind him.
"I know but it's just-" she yelled as she saw another one swim "they're too big!"
They left there without a clue and were tired because apparently there was nothing important there.
Meanwhile, the team searching the outside found clues that led to a warehouse that was locked with a huge padlock that was supposed to be opened with two keys but were nowhere to be seen, they entered through the side doors and went to the room where the security cameras were on, so they analyzed footage from that day at the exact moment the message had been sent to Y/N.
It was then that they saw that a person had left the warehouse, it wasn’t possible to see what was there, but they saw that he sent a message on his phone and then went to the area where divers performed shows for visitors and threw the keys there.
They decided to go to the team that was inside the aquarium and quickly got together, shared the information they had obtained and when they said that the keys were inside the tank, the 4 were surprised, they seemed defeated.
"Why does it always have to involve water?" Sehun grumbled and drew a laugh from Seungi Gi.
"Is someone going to have to swim in there?" Jaesuk asked and Minyoung nodded.
"I don't know if I can." Y/N raised her arms in surrender.
"Wouldn't you do that for your father?" Kwangsoo asked and she laughed nervously.
"Look, this is a really hard question.” She replied and the older one made a funny face of surprise.
"These kids these days." He spoke looking at Jaesuk.
"You can do it, Y/N!" Minyoung spoke, resting her hand on her shoulder.
"I can go if you want." Sehun said and she looked at him gratefully.
"Do you volunteer then?" Jongmin asked and he laughed, denying it.
"It wouldn't be better if one of us went too?" Kwangsoo asked.
"You go!" He replied, offended.
"It's too personal for Y/N." Seungi Gi spoke and then the debate between the detectives started to get heated.
Each one shared an opinion and Y/N tried to defend herself, she was scared and hated swimming but she wanted to try for her father, she needed to know where he was and who was with him.
"Let her try, she might help!" Sehun spoke to Jaesuk who looked at him suspiciously.
"Are you going to advocate for her?"
"Yes!" Sehun chuckled, making the older one look surprised.
"We literally met her just a few hours ago."
After much discussion, they decided to let Y/N and Sehun go, if something went wrong Seungi Gi was ready to enter the tank.
They arranged swimsuits and the right equipment, Y/N was visibly nervous and listened to the detectives talk about the location of the keys, she nodded silently looking at the tank that was about to enter.
She took several deep breaths and Sehun smiled at her.
"You can do it!" He remembered and she nodded.
They put on the oxygen mask and then swam. There were tense minutes, the detectives were looking outside, Y/N was doing her best not to be scared by the fish and stingrays that passed by her.
The tank was too big for her to be behind Sehun, so they combined with signals that would split to either side.
It seemed on purpose but most of the stingrays passed close to Y/N who was paralyzed when one passed under her belly but it was enough for her to see that the key was there between the stones, she grabbed it quickly and couldn't even celebrate so much tense it was.
She turned around and saw that Sehun had also found the key and soon the two were swimming out of the tank.
Once they were in their dry clothes and outside the aquarium, Y/N looked out of breath but happy.
She and the detectives went to the storage room with the two keys, Minyoung and Jaesuk put the keys together in the padlock and then opened the door, making everyone look inside completely shocked.
End of episode 1
Season 4, Episode 2
It starts by focusing on the faces of the detectives and Y/N who were looking at the warehouse with mixed emotions, some shocked, some surprised.
"But what is that?" Minyoung asked still at the door, nobody seemed to want to enter.
The warehouse, which was no longer an aquarium warehouse, looked like a large, abandoned research facility.
"Let's understand what this is all about." Jaesuk spoke and everyone came in, each going their separate ways in search of answers.
Each detective took care to see the papers that were scattered around the warehouse, see the computers or analyze notes on a slate that was there.
It was a long search, sometimes they shared information among themselves about what they had found, Y/N was together because she also wanted to understand what that had to do with her father and why someone would throw the keys in the tank afterwards.
"So this is research on animal intelligence?" Seungi Gi asked and Sehun looked at the papers he was holding.
"Why would they do that?"
"Here are several articles about the human ability to use the brain." Y/N pointed to the papers on the table. "And the difference between us and other animals."
"Look at this." Kwangsoo caught the attention of everyone who went to the computer he was searching with.
"It's emails." Jongmin spoke, looking confused.
"Get back on that one." Minyoung asked and he did.
Everyone read it and got scared.
"Someone was being paid to figure out how to expand the human brain." Jaesuk spoke suspiciously.
"Wow, what a shame." Kwangsoo commented and everyone laughed.
They found out more, the research had been commissioned by a millionaire but apparently the researchers hadn't found the answer he wanted yet so he was threatening the researchers.
"Hold on guys, look at this." Y/N spoke after turning the slate over, she took steps back as the detectives walked towards her.
"What is that?" Sehun asked, troubled.
The blackboard was filled with photos and information from the brightest minds in Korea and Y/N saw the photo of her father.
"Is anyone else finding this too weird?" Jongmin asked after analyzing the information.
"I am, Jaewook is one of the smartest minds is a lie." Kwangsoo spoke and everyone laughed at the inappropriate joke, Y/N smiled in amusement but restrained.
The team searched deeper and deeper, discovering that the millionaire no longer wanted to know how aquatic animals used their brains, he wanted the knowledge of the smartest people in the country.
They found out where the millionaire's house was and how he had ended that search, probably why he got rid of that place.
"That still doesn't explain why I got that message." Y/N spoke after they concluded.
"If we go to the millionaire's house, maybe we can find out more." Minyoung suggested.
"Isn't it a little late to go to other people's houses?" Jongmin asked as he laughed nervously and the detective pushed him lightly.
"Can't we just leave Jaewook where he is?" Kwangsoo shrugged.
"No!" Y/N replied seriously.
"So off we go?" Jaesuk decreed.
[...]
It was already at the end of the episode.
The detectives and Y/N went to the mansion that remained dark and really macabre, they investigated with caution as there was no sign of anyone there although everyone's instinct indicated that this wasn’t quite true. They split into duos, except for Sehun, Y/N and Kwangsoo who went together.
After a long time analyzing clues scattered around the mansion, each room led to the same corridor that made the detectives arrive together in front of a reinforced door that was opened with the riddle that Minyoung solved while the other detectives tried to help.
Before entering, they shared what they found and fitted the pieces together. The millionaire was gathering the smartest people in the country because he wanted to put their knowledge into his daughter, who was doing very poorly at school and should be the brightest mind in the world, that was her father's wish. He hired a mad scientist, and not very credible among experts, who had claimed to know how to do it.
The brightest minds would be guinea pigs in a crazy experiment. When they entered, the noise of the heavy door made everyone fearful and different from the mansion, the place was well lit, enough to see people in capsules. Y/N and Minyoung put their hands over their mouths to muffle their surprised screams. Y/N took a step to go to her father, who asked for help, but was stopped by Sehun's arm. She looked at him confused and he pointed to the floor.
As if they needed another challenge, the floor looked like a checkerboard. Seung Gi took advantage and to prove the theory that the detectives apparently thought, he threw his notebook on the floor on any tile and a shock caught the material, burning it.
"Oh come on!" Kwangsoo complained.
The detectives then tried to talk to the brilliant minds from afar but it was difficult to understand them due to the distance and because of the capsule.
Jaewook was pointing to the ground trying to say something and with a click Minyoung remembered some clues they saw in the mansion earlier.
"It had a song!" she reminded Jaesuk and the two looked at each other. "In the office."
"Oh, I remember!"
"Is someone going to have to dance?" Jongmin asked and his eyes fell on Sehun who laughed in disbelief.
Sehun went first, by free and spontaneous pressure from the detectives, acting as Minyoung and Jaesuk remembered the lyrics of the song they had read.
They needed to be quick but when Sehun arrived on the other side, he talked to Jaewook who spoke about the lever that deactivated the floor trap, he did and then all the detectives and Y/N approached, she went to her father who smiled proudly at her.
He explained that they were trapped there for hours, apparently the mad scientist had escaped with all the money the millionaire had given him and now his mission to make his daughter the smartest in the country had failed.
Detectives helped free the smartest minds, who could now return home safe and sound.
End of the episode 2 Season 4, Episode 5 Now, as a regular detective, Y/N followed in her father's footsteps and was now part of the team.
The episode began with the detectives arriving at a simple village known for hiding witches underground. They were there because they received a report from a desperate mother who had said that her son had been kidnapped for a ritual involving the blood moon.
Aware that they were dealing with a powerful witch, the detectives split into pairs. Sehun and Y/N's chemistry and friendship made them go together to the second floor of the hovel they had found as a clue to being the witch's coven. She let Sehun go ahead, she hated supernatural things and the fact that the hut was dark didn't help much, and he led them to a room.
They looked for clues, found photos, letters, books, potions and men's clothes that certainly didn't belong to the witch.
"So the witch had a forbidden love?" she asked, reading the letter he held.
A farewell letter, unlike the love letters he had read before.
"And couldn't keep him because this guy" lifted the photo he found "found out she was a witch."
"But then is she trying to find him and cast a spell on him or something?" "That's what we need to find out." he said and she nodded, looking back around the room.
Y/N decided to look in a box in the corner of the wardrobe and when she opened it, she screamed in fright. Sehun went running to her, who held the coat he was wearing tightly.
In the box were snakes. Dead. All of them. "I'm already getting irritated with this kind of trap." she said irritably and Sehun laughed.
"Get used to it." he replied and they went back to observing every corner of the room.
When they saw that he had already searched everything, they decided to go back downstairs to talk to the other detectives.
They exchanged the information they found.
The witch seemed to have plenty of reason to get revenge, her great and forbidden love left town to marry the witch's best friend. She went after all of his male friends and acquaintances, each one sacrificed with spells that apparently made the victim fall head over heels in love with the witch who cast the spell.
It was pure and simple revenge for those who didn't have their love returned.
The detectives then proceeded to the basement, which they knew was where she cast her spells on victims. As they descended the stairs, they heard a noise from someone who seemed to be gagged and even with the dim light of the candles on the floor, they identified a covered and bound figure in a chair.
Seungi Gi and Kwangsoo went to the figure and removed the cloth that covered the head, revealing a handsome and completely scared man, they removed the gag while the rest of the team approached. Y/N and Minyoung were more delighted than surprised.
"Who are you?" Jaesuk asked.
"My name is Song Joong-ki." the man replied and the girls laughed softly, commenting something among themselves.
The detectives looked at her confused and Sehun had a funny face.
"Sorry, I didn't expect such a pretty guy..." Y/N pointed with his hand at the man. "Yeah, she sure has a type." Minyoung nodded, referring to the photos of the other victims.
“Anyway.” Seungi Gi said. looking back at the man.
After untying him and helping him to his feet, he explained that he had been picked up by a woman who said strange things like 'you will pay for the mistakes of others' and before he could react, he felt something hitting him in the head. And when he woke up he was there, tied up.
"What do you do?" Minyoung asked and Y/N looked at him expectantly.
"I'm an aspiring actor." he replied, controlling his laughter and the two laughed together. Again.
And again Sehun looked with a funny face of someone who didn't believe they were focusing on the man and not the case.
Before they could continue talking, the basement door slammed shut and everyone reacted in fright. The candlelight began to flicker non-stop and soon a tall figure appeared out of the dark.
Y/N screamed, as usual hiding behind Sehun when she saw that it was the witch they were looking for. She looked pretty pissed off.
"You shouldn't have interrupted my ritual." she warned.
And everyone stood still, some scared, some in disbelief and then before they could even respond or talk to the witch, she suddenly collapsed.
Was the witch dead?
End of the episode 5
Y/N felt her eyes get heavy and yawned, she tried to cover her mouth to hide how tired she was but firm arms wrapped around her waist.
"Do you want to take a break from the episodes?" she smiled at hearing the familiar voice so low and so close to her ear.
So she turned to face her boyfriend, he looked as tired as she was.
"No, it’s alright." She yawned again and her boyfriend stared at her with raised eyebrows. "Okay, I'm very sleepy."
"You didn't look sleepy when you filmed with Song Joong-ki." he said, with a pout and she laughed.
Y/N brought her hands up to her boyfriend's face, squeezing his cheeks.
"Is that jealousy in your voice, Sehun?" she questioned.
"Why would I be jealous? After all, you are here in my arms." he bragged and she laughed, bringing her face closer to kiss the tip of his nose.
"That's right." she smiled. "It doesn't matter how good-looking, charming and thoughtful my scene partner is."
Sehun looked at her tediously and pulled his body away from her, who laughed.
"Go film with him then!"
She walked over, hugging him by the shoulder and throwing a leg over him.
"I was just talking about you, silly." she joked and laughed at the face he made.
Sehun turned his face and captured her lips in a quick kiss.
"Good, because I was once your handsome, charming and attentive scene partner."
"And you still are. We have one more series to do together, have you forgotten?"
He smiled widely, turning his head to face her.
"I can barely wait!"

Cautious
oh sehun x male!reader
word count - 0.9K
genre - soft-angst, fluff, idol!au
contains - it's a cliffhanger ending but I promise they're happy ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ it's really fluffy if you think about it but it's also angsty fluff
synopsis - Sehun and the reader are both idols and Sehun is taking absolutely any opportunity possible to spend time together in order to escape the responsibilities of being idols.
"You look handsome," Sehun states as quietly as he can, having snuck up behind you with a coy smile on his lips, his hands behind his back; having watched you talk to yourself for a moment or two after you had your solo photoshoot.
You know it’s Sehun, everyone else would scare you half to death but Sehun is just heavily smitten for you, he'd sacrifice all his time for you if he could, and as much as he wouldn't admit it, he was kind of like a little puppy.
You smile softly, heavily excited before turning around to Sehun, though, just as you were going to put your hands on his chest, your mind flashed a red; reminding you that you're still in the company of others, so instead, you gave him an awkward fist pump on his shoulder. A very 'bro' behaviour, not a; we've-been-seeing-each-other-for-two+months-and-I-want-to-sit-on-your-lap-to-cuddle kind of behaviour you have with Sehun behind closed doors. "Thank you," you mumble, bringing your hand down almost immediately, not even properly looking at Sehun from your action. How embarrassing.
Sehun didn't stop himself from laughing a little, softly enough so the cameras didn't turn to the two of you, but just enough for you to know that he knows you're just being cautious; and if you were given the chance, you'd kiss him to death.
You scoff in amusement at your own behaviour too, a few fingers grazing over your knuckle before you spoke, "You look really handsome too. I think the concept really suits you," you grin softly, finally looking up a Sehun.
Sehun really wants to hold your hand, but he gets really nervous to do anything reletively affectionate while there's a whole camera crew, hair and make up staff, and all the boys around; he felt a little more vulnerable when he's touchy with you, the feeling's different when it's just casual friendship holding hands and hugs with Baekhyun or Jongdae or whoever else, but when it's all butterflies in the stomach and literally turning into a blushy mush because you can't control your feelings for the other person; it makes it hard to be affectionate with you in front of and around people.
He doesn't really know how to explain it.. maybe the risks are higher, since if someone asked him if him and Baekhyun were seeing each other; he'd just scoff, laugh and say no; but if they'd ask if you and him are seeing each other, he'd probably wouldn't know what to say..
Sehun drops his voice a little, making sure that it's only you that can hear him, looking at his surroundings for a second just in case someone was eavesdropping or a camera was on the two of you, "Wanna get out of here?"
You blinked, confusion and worry evident on your face ay the suggestion, "Where would we– How would we even leave?" You also made your voice low enough so only Sehun could hear it, but still maintaining a relatively safe distance.
Sehun licked his dry lips, he had a well-drafted idea, but he took a step forward, close enough to appreciate the privilege of being that little bit nearer, his softened eyes not moving away from you when though they should at least be checking to see if any of the producers were watching; suspecting; but Sehun wasn't trying to be cautious right now; the things he'd do to just hold your hand without worrying you or himself– "[Y/N]," he starts at a whisper, "We can go anywhere in the city, and we'll be back before morning, but as soon as this shoot is over.. let's just sneak out of the bulding."
Just the thought of being able to spend a few hours with Sehun sounded so beautiful, yet it also sounded particularly impossible, "Hunnie.. I don't know," you say, trying your best to maintain eye contact with the man in front of you.
"Please, Y/N. I know you're worried but I promise we'll be cautious, and it'll only be a few hours," It was taking every ounce of strength not to touch you, at least hold your hand in reassurance or caress your cheek, but the feeling of one of the staff watching kept upon both of you, and Sehun took a step back, practically whispering now, "Meet me by fire escape at midnight, okay?"
You nod, smiling at Sehun softly, before watching him hesitantly walk off towards Chanyeol and Kyungsoo.
Just a few hours, he'd said.
You wished it was longer.
But you were willing to take what you can, if a few hours with Sehun was what you could afford without it costing the jobs for both of you, than you were going to spend it well.

so it goes | oh sehun x male reader
- summary: college au making out with classmate sehun at a party loosely based on so it goes by taylor swift
- pairing: oh sehun x male reader
- requested
- requests are open
The room was filled with the warmth of sweat and the smell of alcohol. The music was pulsing through the building, but it was the last thing on your mind as you found yourself backed against the wall by the boy you had been avoiding all evening.
Oh Sehun was your typical tall, dark and handsome college heartthrob. The only difference was that instead of having hundreds of girls fawning after him, he was fawning after the quiet boy in his Biology class.
He spotted you the moment you entered the room, smirking as you snapped your eyes away from his gaze. Following after you as you walked to the kitchen to grab a drink.
Now he had you against the wall in the hallway, his breath ghosting your neck. Your hand slowly made their way to his hair and he tightened his grip on your side. “You can look at me you know” Sehun said looking at you through his eyelashes. Your eyes flickered to meet his causing his smirk to grow. He took the opportunity to lean in a bit more, brushing his lips off yours.
Your lips moved in sync. Your hands gripped each other as if your life depended on it. The noise in the background faded to a hush. The only sound you could hear was your racing heart and sudden gasps as you broke apart to catch your breath.
Sehun’s hands ran down your waist, resting on your butt, pulling you as close as he could. The friction between you two cause a low whimper escaped from you. Sehun silenced you, grinning widely, “Not here baby boy, everyone will hear us” You frowned, “As if you’d care”. His grin grew with the comment and he pulled you out of the house to continue your fun.

𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐛𝐨𝐲; 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 ❦
pairing; sehun x male reader
genre; suggestive / “lime”
summary; you and sehun just couldn’t keep your hands off of eachother in the inkigayo dressing room. and crazy enough, you didn’t even care that the members were around poking fun of you two.
includes; makeupartist!reader, making out, dry humping, (technical) exhibitionism, implied poly!exo.
wc; 2.1k
notes; this is very much an unrealistic scenario but who cares its fanfic world kfsjhfhsh i wanted a world where they promoted DFTF & suho was there :( im thinking this is gonna be the first installment to a random overarching “series” i’ve been wanting to do after having a dream about it foreverrr ago,, maybe i’ll expand on it more later. lemme know what u think!
sassy, thats how you could describe the way sehun kissed you.
actually, that’s how you could describe the maknae’s personality in general. his quiet and reserved demeanor often lead people to deem him as shy, but those who really knew him all understood how snarky he could be - and it was showing all too evidently as he laid teasing nips upon your needy lips.
you were perched up in the tall idol’s lap as he sat in his designated chair in front of an inkigayo vanity in the dressing room. the light bulbs were still on and it’s counter was scrambled with different makeup pallets and brushes. you were already helping manage exo in so many ways, so it was no shock that you were also assigned to be their personal makeup artist. you were “pretty talented for a guy”, as baekhyun would tease.
your hands ran through his once perfectly gelled jet black hair before they roamed his chest, which seemed extra broad in his tight fit grey shirt. sehun’s tongue felt like it had a mind of its own as it traced shapes into the roof of your warm mouth. he even tasted like the sweet americano that sat half drank at his feet. you hummed and grabbed his face, kissing into him harder and forcing his head to crane backwards. you didn’t even care that you were probably smearing away the work on his face that took you a solid half hour to complete - you simply couldn’t get enough of him... not that it surprised you. you were weak for all of the exo members, them each being able to pleasure you in their own unique ways, but something about sehun just made you melt with so little effort.
“geez y/n, you’re gonna swallow me whole.” sehun spoke with a daunting smirk after removing his mouth from yours to catch a breath.
you rolled your eyes, trying to appear unbothered in order to hide how turned on you were.
“it’s your fault,” you rebutted, “i was actually trying to be diligent but you were the one with other plans.”
you weren’t lying, since you really did attempt to keep yourself under control. however, sehun had managed to start yet another one of your light banters, and despite your efforts, all it took from there were his sassy comments turning into suggestive remarks in order to have you straddling the older male’s thighs in seconds, kissing the nude lip balm right back off.
“yaah, seriously, y/n is so needy today.” a certain rapper fussed.
chanyeol was laid out on one of the dressing room’s couches - d.o and baekhyun beside him. they were all fully styled in the outfits they would wear for that day’s stage, and looked quite handsome themselves. their faces all held slight annoyance, however their body language was depicting jealousy. the boys rarely got jealous, as you did a pretty good job showing them equal amounts of attention (both emotionally and in the other department), but something must have been in the air as the other members clearly just wanted to get their hands on you themselves.
you and the boys had a fair system in place, the members all agreeing to respect each other whenever they would have their time with you. unless consented in the moment, there were never any interruptions or distractions that occurred out of spite. the exo boys had a strong enough bond and respect for one another to keep that agreement in tact. besides, they frankly seemed to all be on their own different schedules of horny - rarely did more than one of them fiend for you at a time.
so, they wouldn’t have been so bothered with you and sehun if the latter didn’t find so much satisfaction in showing you off any time that you two would engage in a steamy session. whether it be in a dressing room like today, or the dorm’s living room, the kitchen, the van, or even the dance studio - the obnoxious moans and sounds of lips and skin smacking so that the others could hear was something sehun always got off on like the mischievous jerk that he was. and being the youngest member, his drive was pretty high, causing him to always be seeking you out more than the other members.
“he can’t help it, he just likes me most.” sehun taunted in response with a low tone, not breaking eye contact with the slowly forming red marks he was leaving on your collarbone. he then leaned in to the left side of your neck. “don’t ya?”
you smacked his shoulder and went to interject, but your words quickly got replaced with an instant moan when he flattened his tongue on your neck, licking a slow stripe up to your earlobe. with a shaky breath, you looked back up to see the members rolling their eyes and grumbling witty insults at their maknae. xiumin even crossed his arms sporting a dramatic pout, which you usually always caved for.
you did feel shameful, and were actually shocked at yourself for once again giving into sehun in a public setting. shit, right outside the dressing room door you could even hear the scrambling from other groups and their managers going to-and-fro the stage for their performances. thankfully, suho being the most attentive leader that he was, had your back and had locked the door right when he sensed you were going to act up. there was also the fact that he was discreetly palming himself to your sounds, so it was comical that there was a chance he was doing it for his own benefit as well.
“ha, sure he does.” kai himself chimed in from the corner of the room. he was practicing the song’s choreography in an unbothered manner the whole time, but had to scoff at sehun’s comment. “have your fun now, but when we get back home we all know whose room y/n is going to sleep in tonight.”
sehun was moving in to kiss you once more, but turned his head after hearing kai’s comment. you had to catch yourself from releasing a pathetic whine at the loss of his lips. this was the least perfect time for bickering - you just really wanted to get this neediness out of your system so that you could finish the members preparations with a clear mind and send them on their way to the stage. you needed to wrap it up soon, anyways, since you didn’t doubt that their primary manager would come by asking what’s taking so long in the first place.
“as if, hyung.” sehun shot back, “i’d hate to break it to you, but y/n’s gonna have to be mine for the rest of the day.” he cooed, turning back to look you in the eyes as he cockily said that last part.
“i don’t know...” you teased, drawing out your words. “jongin really does know how to make m-“
you were cut off by sehun grabbing the back of your head. as if to shut you up, he started sloppily making out with the base of your neck. you groaned and ground your bulge down into his, the friction making your eyes roll back. this caused an uproar of snickers and giggles among the other members. you couldn’t believe they were finding amusement in your inability to compose yourself, but despite their laughs you did feel bad at how bothersome this might be to them. however, you forced yourself to drop your conscious and made a mental note to just make it up to each of them later.
overwhelmed by how solid his and your own lengths were becoming, and by how hard his ministrations were on your throat, you grabbed his hair to pull him back up to your mouth. your pink muscles wrestled for dominance as you heavily made out. you both moaned as his tongue continued to press up against yours even when your lips departed momentarily - sehun easily pushing the back of your head to reconnect them. you started grinding against each other fast and sensually, like two needy animals. your whimpers only increased and it was making you regret your actions as you started to need more, maybe you really were gonna contemplate staying with him tonight.
“alright, i’ve had it.” chanyeol grumbled as he stood up quickly, picking up his phone.
the members around him looked on with curiosity as he fiercely typed, and pressed ‘play’ before setting his phone on the table. immediately, the speaker that kai was using to practice DFTF started blaring HMPH by WJSN Chocome. chanyeol started flailing his long limbs everywhere, flamboyantly dancing the choreo to the high pitched song. kai was caught off guard, but it didn’t take long for him to start giggling and dancing along to the song as well, followed shortly by the rest of the members.
you and sehun’s lips slowly came to pause from their ferocious assaults, and you both turned your heads to see the baffling scene before you. the members started inching closer and closer to you and their youngest member, deranged smiles on their faces. you were confused but couldn’t help bursting into laughter. the maknae huffed out a breath of annoyance, but when baekhyun shoved his face into the small space between you and sehun to squeal the lyrics, even he couldn’t hold back his chuckles.
“alright alright, we get the message!!” you giggle, getting off of sehuns long legs and standing to your feet, dodging d.o and xiumin’s attempts to ambush you with tickles.
there was then a loud knock on the dressing room door, followed by the booming authoritative voice of the groups head manager.
“BOYS, T-MINUS 5 MINUTES UNTIL YOU’RE ON STAGE, WHY IS THE DOOR LOCKED?” she calls.
you all immediately scramble to turn off the music and collect yourselves, kai running to open the door. sehun cursed and quickly tossed you his spare jacket that was draped over his chair, silently motioning to your crotch area. you look down and almost shriek from embarrassment, noticing a small wet patch of arousal that leaked through your boxers to your jeans. how was that even possible?!
you look back up to sehun who adorned an arrogant grin that was way bigger than it should’ve been. you wrap the jacket around just in time for when the door opens, exo’s manager peering into the room suspiciously.
she immediately notices sehun’s clothes wrinkled, hair disheveled and slight makeup smears around his face. you curse internally.
“we’re on deck for our recording! why does he look like a hot mess??” she remarks to all of you.
“we- uh, oh we were-“ sehun fumbles over his words, the cocky attitude suddenly no where to be found. baekhyun bites his tongue to refrain from laughing aloud.
“s-sorry! i was trying different looks on ‘hun and i just couldn’t come to a decision, and the guys were just loosening up before the stage.” you jump in, praying that you sounded confident enough to be believed. you were left in charge of them, after all.
their manager pinched the bridge of her nose while squeezing her eyes shut. she clicks her tongue and looks at her clipboard.
“i can buy you 10 extra minutes. fix him.” she finally said, turning on her heels and leaving the room swiftly.
you all exhale a deep sigh of relief, before collecting yourselves at once. thankful to have been spared, you pick up your makeup pallet and brush, quickly getting restarted on fixing the mess you made on sehun’s face.
“oh.. if only noona knew i already got my fix.” the boy spoke just above a whisper, causing you to blush and all of the members to grumble loudly once again.

I don't know if you'll accept this but a Sehun request. Injured one time from dance practice. Keeps coming back, however, to the hospital to talk to the doctor who nursed him back 'cause he got infatuated/flirty with her but she's a sort of 'asshole' to him. Something like, "Keep coming back here and I'll personally break your bones". But bam! She soon softens towards him. Ignore this if it's too much. Thanks!
Oh my lord, I love this request. Thank you for sending it in! Because we all know one thing Oh Sehun is and it’s a Drama King. Hope this does your idea justice!
Love,
Serenity
Tender Loving Care
Pairing: Sehun x Doctor!Reader
Warnings: Head injury, hospital, basic medical exams, mention of over the counter medication, Sehun is an idiot, lots of sarcasm and dialogue
Word Count: 1905
A/N: I probably spent too much time researching what an actual doctor would do during these exams, don’t mind me.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, play the music, hyung.”
In hindsight, those could have been famous last words. One stubborn man and one slight mistake led to a nasty fall and a trip to the hospital. Sehun insisted he was fine, but of course, management wanted a clear bill of health from a doctor first before allowing him back in the practice room.
Registration thankfully didn’t take too long, and he was escorted back to an exam room with his manager, Sungkyu. A nurse came around and checked his vitals, then disappeared back into the hallway. Sure, he had a headache and was nursing it with an ice pack, but it was cold in the exam room, and he just wanted to be on his merry way.
Soon enough the curtain was sliding to the side with a screech, “Good afternoon, I’m Doctor L/N, I’ll be treating you today,” you entered the room, quickly reading over the chart, “Well, your vitals are all normal, so that’s a good start. Why don’t you tell me what happened?”
Sehun sighed and continued holding the ice pack against his head as he recounted his accident. He didn’t see the big need to be here, but who was he to argue with his manager?
“Not the most outrageous story I’ve heard in the emergency room,” you chuckle, “Did you pass out or are you currently dizzy?”
“What does it matter? I just want you to tell my manager that I’m fine so I can go back to practice,” he snapped, pulling the ice pack away, eyes widening as he actually got a look at you. He hasn’t expected such eyes, so soft and caring. “Sorry, that was rude and uncalled for. Um. No, I didn’t get dizzy or black out.”
With a nod, you pull a pen light out of your pocket and click it on, “Right. Look here at my nose,” you said, shining the light in the sides of his eyes, “Your pupils are the same size, round, and reactive. That’s good. Now follow my finger.”
You move your finger in a series of motions, watching his eyes to make sure he is tracking movement alright. And he does.
“Good, now touch your nose,” he does so, and you hold your pointer finger out, “touch my finger.”
Sehun smirks, “if you wanted to hold my hand, all you had to do was ask,” but still does what was asked of him.
“Funny. But no,” you arched a brow and added some notes to his chart. Your once soft and caring gaze was now clinical, completely professional. “Well, Mister Oh, you don’t show any signs of a concussion, which is great news. Take ibuprofen for any headaches, use an ice pack as needed, and take it easy for the next few days. Feel better soon, I’ll send in someone with discharge papers.”
With that, you walked out, ready to tend to the next patient. Sungkyu arched an eyebrow, glancing back to make sure you were well out of ear shot.
“The secondhand embarrassment I just got from watching you, man. I think I need to preorder my casket.”
“Shut up.”
Three days after the incident, you had almost forgotten it. Almost. That was until your charge nurse was handing you a medical chart, with a vague explanation of the situation. You glanced over the chart and narrowed your eyes, reading one familiar name.
Oh Sehun.
He was back in the emergency room already? How?
You made your way to the examination room and rapped at the door with a knuckle before entering.
“Good morning, Mister Oh, so sorry to see you back so soon,” you greeted him, “my nurse said you fell again?”
He chuckled and shook his head, “I’m a dancer and apparently very clumsy this week. This time it was my wrist,” he explained, loosely gesturing to it with the opposite hand.
Klutz.
Quickly washing your hands, you made your way over to Sehun’s bed side, wanting to get a look at it. There were so many little bones, ligaments, and tendons in the hand, it wasn’t something you wanted to leave sit if it was injured.
You gently took his hand in yours, careful to avoid putting any pressure on his wrist. He jumped slightly, startling you a bit.
“Sorry,” he glanced away, bashful, “Your hands are cold.”
“No, I’m sorry. They keep it so cold back here so combat bacteria growth,” you explained, returning your attention to his wrist, “So, there’s a ligament here called scapholunate. While it’s generally quite strong, it can get injured if you fall hard enough on it. But just superficially, there are no abrasions or contusions, so I doubt there’s a distal radius fracture or a carpal fracture.”
Sehun looked up at you with wide eyes, not listening to much of what you were saying. The medical jargon was going straight over his head. But he was interested in watching the way your eyelashes fanned over the tops of your cheeks, or the way your lips moved when you talked. He also loved the way that you scrunched your nose whilst examining him, testing his wrist motion with a series of small tests. It was impossible to hide the blush on his cheeks as you held his hand.
“See, I told you that you could hold my hand, doc.”
You looked up at him, just short of a glare, “I do believe it’s the medically necessary thing to do. Your wrist seems fine,” you stood up, letting him take his hand back as you made your way to the door, “I’m going to order you an x-ray just to check the bones.”
“I’ll let you keep looking at it, you’re much prettier than a machine.”
Obviously.
“Ah, but alas, I don’t have x-ray vision, so the machine will have to suffice.”
Forty-five minutes later, a folder of radiographic films was being handed to you. You pulled one out and held it up toward the lights, your suspicions confirmed, that there was in fact, not a fracture in Oh Sehun’s wrist. Not that you wished there was, of course.
Walking back into the room, you put the film onto the illuminator box, so that he could see. You pointed to each bone slowly so that he could follow along.
“This is your scaphoid, which is next to that ligament I was telling you about. All these little bones are your carpals, here is the radius and the ulna. While these are the easiest bones to break, all your bones are intact, there are no fractures. And based on the Watson test earlier, I’m also ruling out a sprain. Try to be more careful during your dance practices or invest in some bubble wrap.”
“Where’s the fun in bubble wrap when I have such a pretty doctor to check on me?”
“But the bubble wrap will enjoy your company more.”
You sat in the lounge, finally able to prop your feet up after standing and running around for the last six hours. The longer shifts were killer, and you were definitely indulging in a nice, hot bubble bath when you got home. Unfortunately, that would still be another four hours from now.
“Doctor L/N to nurses’ station, please. Doctor L/N to nurses’ station.”
Without fail.
With a groan, you heaved yourself back onto your feet and made your way through the various halls until you found the station.
“Can’t people stay healthy for one day? Just one is all I ask,” you groaned, running a hand down the side of your face, knowing everyone staffing tonight agreed with you.
“Sorry, Y/N, you were requested by the patient,” the nurse mused, handing over the latest chart.
You read it over, face morphing into an incredulous expression.
Oh Sehun? That’s the third time this week!
Flipping the file shut, you looked at the nurse incredulously. All she could do was laugh and give you a wink before turning on her heel to go do her rounds.
Just great.
“I see you didn’t take my bubble wrapping advice,” you droned, walking into his room. He actually had the audacity to beam like a child on Christmas morning. “So, what’s the problem today?”
“Funny you ask,” he chimed as you raised an eyebrow expectantly, “I have been having heart palpitations for the last week.”
While it wasn’t impossible for someone his age to have heart troubles, it wasn’t nearly as common. You washed your hands in the sink and pulled your stethoscope out from around your neck, putting the earpieces in.
“It’s gonna be cold,” you warned softly, slipping the chest piece under his shirt, pressing it to his heart, “deep breath for me.”
He was right. His heart was pounding. Perplexed, you pulled the stethoscope out and put them back around your neck.
“Your resting heart rate is still under 120, it’s in the range of normal, albeit slightly elevated” you informed him. It wasn’t uncommon for people to have heart palpitations, as an array of things can cause them. “When did you first notice the symptoms?”
Sehun paused for a moment, puckering his lips in thought, “Honestly, about six days ago.”
Six days ago? That was his first visit to the hospital.
“But especially so when I was here the second time.”
You narrowed your eyes, now completely lost, “Go on.”
He huffed, swinging his legs around to the side of the bed to face you properly, “See, six days ago, I came in for a head injury, and this really pretty doctor came in to check on me. Then I came in for to get my wrist checked out and this same doctor held my hand to make sure it was okay. And now, this same pretty doctor is here, and I can’t calm my heart.”
Your jaw dropped.
What?
Surely you hadn’t heard him correctly.
“I’m sorry, you- you what?”
There was no way.
“I swear,” you paused, holding up a finger as the situation was falling into place, “You faked two medical issues just to see me, wasting your company’s time and money, and my time that could have been focused on someone having a serious medical concern?”
Sehun held up his hands in surrender, a smile stretching across his face, “I didn’t fake anything. I did genuinely fall the first time. The second time, though, I might have facilitated a fall as an excuse to see you again. And this time, it might have been a step too far to ask you out on a date.”
Are you kidding me?
“A step?” you whisper yelled, god forbid anyone in the hall hear this conversation, “A step might have been the wrist. But this? Oh, my God. I will personally break your bones so that you have an actual medical emergency.”
A laugh bubbled from his chest as you put your hands on your hips, ready to scream at the utter nonsense. You must have accidentally stabbed yourself with the epi-pen from the last patient and this was all just a drug-induced dream.
“So… what time can I pick you up?”
“Bold of you to presume I’d allow that,” you turned on your heel to walk out, but stopped at the door, hiding the little smile on your face, “My shift ends at eight. Don’t be late.”

THE FANBOY | SEHUN
request: Hi 👋 can u write one for sehun exo x tiny male reader ? Secret boyfriend Support his lover? Fluff thx xx
pairing: Sehun x male! reader
genre: fluff
warnings: none
word count: 1173
note: school started so there won’t be a lot of updates sorry babies TT
wanna read more? my masterlist ♡
(Y/N) didn't come early so he could avoid the large crowds and long lines, yet here he d at his boyfriend's fan meeting. And the lines longer than ever, but what was he a supposed to expect. His boyfriend was in one of the biggest K-pop group and they hadn't released any albums till recently. Fans will be coming to this fan meeting. Sighing the short man went to stand in line. Most the fans were young girls but of course there were some older fans. He fidget nervously in his place and started sipping on the Starbucks coffee he had bought while coming to the event. He had an earbud in his ear to block out the loud screams with some of EXO's recent works. Though a few fans couldn't help but look at the young male who happens to be squished be fans. The girls between him started asking him who his bias is. The start of the conversation made him take the earbud out and he put a finger on his chin to think about his answer.
"I think it would be Jongdae." He answered with a smile. The girls "ohhh"'d and then told him who their bias was.
"Mine is Baekhyun!"
"My bias is Jongdae as well!!"
"Oh Sehun!"
This made (Y/N)'s ear perk. "Really?" He tilted his head cutely and the girls cooed at how cute the shorter was being.
"Y-yeah! He's very handsome!" (Y/N) chuckled lightly at the answer but nodded his head.
"He is."
Then another girl answered. "He's my bias wrecker. Such an evil maknae!" Then the boy let out a laugh agreeing with girl. The girls were nice and sweet. The four then started talking about the new album and how they all appreciated Sehun finally getting lines.
"Yeah, Sehun always works hard and has improved a lot." (Y/N) spoke truth. He had witnessed Sehun working on his vocals more than several times. Even though it seemed like he didn't care, he truly did care about improving especially when he started put his hyung's in the front line. He cared a lot about them, wanted to make them proud. Another thing that has driven Sehun to improvement was his fans. They were always on his mind when he was working. And now all the hard work seemed to have worked really well. The fans appreciated the lines he had gotten and couldn't wait for more.
One thing that kept Sehun going that didn't have any connection with work was (Y/N). The man who would wait long nights for the other so they could sleep together. The man who always lifted Sehun up when Sehun wasn't feeling too great. When Sehun was down, (Y/N) was there to pick him up and show him that his hyungs and fans were there awaiting for him. And when Sehun left towards them, (Y/N) was always there being pulled along. Even if no one could see him. (Y/N) was always there in his heart.
The line moved and moved till (Y/N) had parted from the other girls since they started getting over excited. He smiled when the Sehun stan was calling our for Sehun.
Lucky for her, Sehun had looked up and gave the fan a smile that made the crowd roar. (Y/N) couldn't see it being blocked by other taller girls. But the stan made it pretty clear. (Y/N) was glad that Sehun could make so many people happy with just one smile or glance at their direction.
Finally it came to the point where (Y/N) was in the front. First, he was greeted by a smiling Chanyeol. The giant looked surprised to see him.
"Yah! (Y/N) what are you doing here?!" The giant asked.
(Y/N) smiled. "Can't I come and support my friends?" And my boyfriend. Chanyeol grinned when (Y/N) handed him his album.
"Ah! (Y/N) always so supportive of us!" Chanyeol then handed his album to Jongin when the line worked out. Jongin couldn't help but grin as well but he treated (Y/N) like a fan. The two talked for a bit before he was moved to the leader.
"Ah! (Y/N)! How are you?" Suho asked as he was signing the album.
"Good! And you?" (Y/N) answered with a smile.
"Good. Good." Suho nodded then ruffled the others hair. The next one was Jongdae.
His eyes widen and he elbowed Minseok, who greeted the other quickly before going back to the other fan.
"So glad you could come!" Jongdae cooed.
"Yeah~" Jongdae squeezed (Y/N)'s hand before he left to Minseok.
Minseok grinned at the other and exchanged polite conversation. Sehun, who was sitting next to Minseok stiffened when he saw his boyfriend. The youngest member panicked for a moment unsure of how to react, instead he focused on the fan in front of him.
Then (Y/N) was in front of him.
"H-hi!" Sehun muttered wide eyed. (Y/N) grinned at his boyfriend.
"Sehun-ah!"
Then his boyfriend smiled as well feeling his cheeks grow a bit red. Sehun took (Y/N)'s hands in his after he quickly signed it.
"You're such a cute fan." Sehun cooed feeling a bit nervous about flirting with his boyfriend in front of his fans.
(Y/N) blushed slightly. "Thank you!"
"Do you happen to have someone with you?" Sehun asked.
"Yeah."
"Someone close to you?"
"My boyfriend, he's right...here!" Then (Y/N) pointed at Sehun in front of him. Sehun grew flustered when his bandmates noticed the interaction. Baekhyun who had happened to have the microphone.
"Wow~! Sehun is getting flustered!" Baekhyun laughed and the others laughed. The fans did as well and some awe'd. (Y/N) was also blushing and put his head down so the others couldn't see it. Sehun laughed lightly his hands creasing (Y/N) hands.
When it was time to move Sehun quickly brought (Y/N)'s finger tips to his lips kissing them quickly without anyone noticing. (Y/N) blushed but moved next to Baekhyun with Kyunsoo next to him.
Baekhyun grinned a wicked smile. He reached out squeezing the others cheeks. "So cute~!" Baekhyun cooed but before he could squeeze any further he got his hand slapped.
"Yah! You're hurting him." Sehun barked slightly with a teasing tone.
"Sehun loved his fanboy too much!" Baekhyun called out the fans catching it and all of them went loud. Sehun glared at his hyung and went to squeeze his cheeks tightly. Baekhyun let out an overdramatic scream. (Y/N) couldn't help but laugh lightly. Kyungsoo rolled eyes holding back a smile. Then he punched the two slightly with stuffed animal. Making the two part. Baekhyun smiled cheekily at (Y/N) before signing then album.
Kyungsoo shot (Y/N) a kind smile before signing the album. The two conversed for a bit before it was finally time for (Y/N) to leave.
"Sehunnie! Say bye to your fanboy!!" Jongdae called out. Everyone encouraged that and Sehun pursed his lips but then turned his head towards (Y/N). A shy smile formed on his lips since all eyes were on him now and he waved at (Y/N), who waved back with a beaming smile.

Ex — oh sehun
oh sehun x gender neutral!reader ft. Baekhyun
word count – 1.5K
genre – college!au | angst | cheating | happy ending
warnings – cheating, breakups etc
synopsis – you've become the project partner of your ex's new boyfriend. A relationship the both of you left on clifhanger.
"Jagi?" Sehun called out, entering the dorm room as he began taking his shoes off along with the denim jacket he had on all day. "Babe?" He asked again, furrowing his brows when he didn't get a response, he heard giggling coming from his boyfriend's room, he knew there was nothing to worry about, Beakhyun just probably didn't hear him. He opened the door, finding Beakhyun behind his study desk and... [Y/N] sitting on his boyfriend's bed behind a pile of economics papers.
"Sehunnie," Baekhyun chuckled nervously, but a bright smile on his face, "When did you arrive?"
Sehun kept his brows furrowed, but also kept his eyes locked with yours, practically death glares sent your way, though you sent him a smile, one that annoyed him. "Just now," Sehun confirmed, now looking at Baekhyun, a proper smile on his face, "I'll be... Anywhere but here."
Sehun exited the room, and Baekhyun looked at you, knowing why he was being so passive-aggressive, "Sorry, I didn't think—"
You waved your hands in front of your now economics partner, brushing off his apology, "Trust me, don't worry about it, it's in the past."
"I mean, yeah." Baekhyun was still a bit in the dark with your relationship with Sehun, he knows you two were dating at a point of time, not too long before him and Sehun began going out, though he never knew why his boyfriend was so hostile to you. He just assumed it wasn't his place to ask, they've only been dating for a month and thought that Sehun will eventually tell him; but it wasn't exactly the case, and Baekhyun didn't want to make it seem like he's prying. He wasn't going to lie though, part of him was envious of the fact that you know so much and refused to let out anything about your year-long relationship with Sehun.
"Why are you still here?" Sehun had left his boyfriend's dorm room as soon as he entered, going back to his own and hoping to find you no longer at Baekhyun's when he returns. Much to his dismay, his hopes weren't accepted.
You put the glass of water in your hand down onto the kitchen island, turning to Sehun at the front door. "Baek is asleep, thought it would be a good idea to wait for you to drop by then leave," you said, "He shut down halfway through our last couple of questions, I thought he might be sick or whatever. Better safe than sorry kinda thing."
Sehun nodded. Closing the door carefully. The time was close to eleven, the campus lights outside coming through from the windows, plus the small night light next to the television was on, it made the atmosphere less dense and even made Sehun a little tired after studying for a few hours.
"I hope you know I'm not stalking you," you suddenly said, "It was pure coincidence that Baekhyun was signed as my partner for the final..."
Sehun chuckled, leaning against the wall that was on the right of the kitchen island, his arms crossed as he took a moment to gaze at your facial features. "I didn't think you were, but then again, major coincidence."
You smiled at that, and went to put the glass into the sink then looking over at Sehun, "Treat Baekhyun well, yeah? He's a sweet guy."
Sehun scoffed, "Don't worry, I'm not breaking up with him eight months prior to fly off to the United States," he said, keeping his stance against the wall, "Only to end up not going."
Ouch. You felt that stab in your chest and tiny goosebumps along your arms at the final comment. You sighed, placing both hands on the edge of the counter to hold onto it, looking down at the marble. "Not my finest moment," you said, a guilty aired-chuckle leaving your lips, "I do regret it. Honestly."
Sehun swallowed hard, "Then why did you do it?"
"I didn't want any form of attachments when I left..." You didn't want to admit it, but it felt good to say it out loud to the person who needed to hear it, "You know; new city, new life complex... I didn't want to have to go through that heartbreak of potentially not seeing you again..."
Sehun stayed quiet like he was thinking of his next words. He was thankful for the closure, it was something he craved for when you broke up with him, but he didn't know what to take it as now.
You spoke up despite all the silence, "I really did love you. I still do, I don't think I ever stopped. But... I'm a whole month too late, you're with Baekhyun now."
Sehun lifted himself off the wall, walking up to you with so much caution you can see the reluctance on his face. It promoted you to stand up straight, hands off the bench and instead by your side as Sehun bought himself closer to you, close enough that you're able to see every speck of light brown in his dark eyes. He lifted his hand so it gently cupped your cheek, not yet saying a word, but every thought running through his head was very much visible on his face. "I shouldn't be doing this."
"Nobody is telling you to," you chuckled lightly, placing your hand over the one caressing your cheek. "But then again, nobody is stopping you either..."
Sehun took another moment to memorise the curve of your lips, the line from your jaw that meets your chin and the small space between your parted lips. Sehun leaned forward, his head tilted to the side ever so slightly, his mouth mere millimetres away from yours.
It started off slow like you were both getting familiarising with the feeling that was once so familiar. He fucking missed this, the taste of your lips on his, the affection radiating from each other; it made him want more, craving your intimacy so much more than he realised.
Sehun's hand moved down to the back of your neck to bring the two of you as close as possible, pushing you against the edge of the kitchen island. Your hand moved behind you and onto the marble out of reflex, keeping yourself steady while Sehun locked his hand on the corner for the same reason.
"Please," Sehun said, not stopping his heated movements, "Please don't leave me again."
You nodded immediately, only for Sehun to lift you up onto the bench, standing close between your legs while his hands gripped your hips as if he thought you'd run away if he ever let go. You knew that was the case, so you wrapped your arm around his neck and bought him close, telling him you weren't going anywhere; just without the words. Both your kisses becoming slower and softer as the two of you began running out of breath.
Sehun pulled away gently, his hands still firm on your hips, but you were now graciously trailing your thumb up and down his cheekbone, bring it slowly down to his pump lips, dragging it across the lips that you craved for months. Sehun smiled at you, sad eyes locked with yours, "I missed you so much."
You looked at him with guilt though, remembering that no matter what changes between you and Sehun now, he's still in a relationship with someone else, "Sehun, but what about Baek...?"
Sehun's eyes went wide, immediately closing it tightly as soon as he remembered that was the case. "I- Don't worry, I swear, I'll figure something out," he promised, bringing his head up to peck your lips quickly. "You're all I want."
Reluctantly, you nodded. A pin of guilt evident on your face, but seeing Sehun smile at you like a child at a candy store made it disappear quickly. "I have to go, though," You said, chuckling lightly, "It's way past midnight and my friend is probably waiting for me."
"Come to my dorm, my roommate is with their girlfriend," Sehun said, placing another peck on your lips.
You thought the guilt might hit you hard later, you looked over at Baekhyun's room, thinking about how he was going to react to the news. "Okay," you looked back at Sehun, smiled obvious on your expression, "Let's go."
God, you missed him so much.

Drabble- 005
Pairing: Junmyeon X Reader, slight Baekhyun
Warning: Fingering with an audience, Possessive Junmyeon, Dirty talk
Word count: 900
“Who’s that?” Junmyeon whispers into my ear so that I can hear him over the banging club music.
“Where?”
I curiously drag my eyes around the club, seeing no familiar faces other than the group of friends I came with.
Junmyeon pulls me closer to his body by my waist and rests his hands there, my back flush against his ripped abdomen.
“By the entrance. The dude in the black leather jacket keeps checking you out.”
I crane my head and manage to catch sight of the said person through the crowd of sweaty bodies grinding against each other. My eyes light up and I wave at the person. The male nods at me in acknowledgement and waves back with a toothy grin.
“So who’s he?”
I tilt my head to face Junmyeon.
“Oh, that’s just Baekhyun.”
“How do you know him?” My boyfriend questions, sounding slightly agitated.
I scratch my head, suddenly feeling nervous. Jealous Junmyeon usually doesn't end well. On my part at least.
“Um,” I pause to lick my dry lips, “I went on a date with him once when the two of us were broken up.”
Junmyeon doesn’t reply but the tightening of his fingers around my waist says enough. I hear him inhale sharply so I caress the back of his hands to calm him down.
“It was just one date babe. He is Sehun’s friend, so it was really more of a friendly date!” I rush to explain.
I dare to look up at Junmyeon only to see him glaring at Baekhyun who is chatting animatedly with his entourage. However, ever so often, the latter’s eyes would travel to meet mine and crinkle cutely when we make eye contact.
Junmyeon lowers himself down till his lips are on the shell of my ear.
“Seems like he wants something of mine,” he growls through gritted teeth.
My boyfriend's grip on my waist lets up and his hands slide under my crop top, just stroking my soft skin.
Baekhyun’s eyes are locked on Junmyeon’s covered hands that are now playing with the lace edge of my bra.
Junmyeon bends further so that his lips are leaving butterfly kisses on my exposed shoulder. My eyes flutter shut and I sigh, totally forgetting that Baekhyun is still watching us.
“Look at him, baby girl.”
My eyes shoot open, suddenly remembering that I have an audience.
Baekhyun is sitting awkwardly with his legs crossed. His face red and his adam’s apple bobbing in his throat uncomfortably.
Junmyeon chuckles huskily and slowly, one of his hands ventures south, slipping into my bandage skirt. I squeak and jerk my hips back, right into Junmyeon’s hardening crotch.
I don’t react appropriately at first since my mind is hazy. But when I finally come to my senses, I try to squeeze my thighs together and pull Junmyeon’s arm out of my skirt.
My actions are rendered useless when his other hand comes out from under my top to grab my arms and hold them behind my back. He then shoves his robust thigh between my legs, not even giving me a chance them.
I want to thrash around but that will only gain me unwanted attention. The only person who is watching Junmyeon and I right now is Baekhyun, and I want to keep it that way.
I jerk and yelp when Junmyeon’s fingernail scratches my clit.
“Who do you belong to?”
When Junmyeon receives no reply from me, his hand slithers further and enters my slit. I am already gasping for air at this point.
“St-stop please.”
Of course he doesn’t. What Junmyeon wants, Junmyeon always gets.
Instead, he starts giving me shallow thrusts. My tears are on the brink of falling because I am trying my best to hold down my moans but I feel like they are going to spill out of my lips anyway.
When Junmyeon adds 1 more finger into me, my head falls against his shoulder and my eyes roll back to plead him to stop.
His stern expression doesn’t falter.
“I asked who the fuck you belong to," he snarls with his brows screwed together scarily, "answer me now or I'll bend you over and fuck you right here in front of everyone. You want all these people to see your pretty little pussy? Is that it?"
The movement of his fingers speed up and I know that if I delay my answer any longer, Junmyeon will definitely make me cum right in the middle of the crowded club.
I know what I have to do.
I reach behind me and pull Junmyeon's neck down until my lips are practically kissing his ear.
"You, I belong to you, Kim Junmyeon," I whisper breathlessly.
The male hums and finally pulls his sinful hands out of my damn panties. I sigh in relief and slump against his body tiredly. I watch Junmyeon through my lashes as he brings his fingers to his mouth to suck on my juices. He groans in appreciation once the sticky liquid hits his tongue. He then grabs my hips, twirls me around to capture my lips, shoves his tongue into my mouth to make me taste myself and then he pulls away almost immediately.
"Wanna go home?"
I nod without any contemplation. I grab Junmyeon's hand and weave us out the club, totally forgetting about Baekhyun who had been watching us the whole time.

“We split up; cover what needs to be covered then regroup to scope the basement? Sound good?” Baekhyun told him just after breaking down the door to the rather drab building, their flashlights illuminating the foyer in wide circles; the light dancing with the dust in the air.
“Sounds good to me,” Chanyeol gruffed back, tapping his back pocket to make sure he had a spare magazine, “Boss find out why were here?”
“Nope,” Baekhyun hummed, checking his gun, “Kyungsoo tried to follow through with Jongin’s lead, didn’t get us anywhere.” He sighed softly
“Lovely,” Chanyeol was keeping it short, something Baekhyun noticed.
“You good?” Baekhyun asked nonchalantly, eyebrow quirked, “You were quiet the whole ride here.” Chanyeol shook his head.
“I’m fine,” He grumbled, “Just don’t see the point in this that’s all.” Baekhyun tried to not roll his eyes at that one.
“I don’t just mean today,” Baekhyun clicked his tongue, “You’ve been in a bad mood all week,”
“I have not.” Chanyeol snapped slightly, but Baekhyun merely smirked.
“My point exactly, save it for someone else,” Baekhyun chuckled, “You can pull that shit with anyone else but not with me, got it? So, spill.”
“We don’t have time for this,” Chanyeol tried to walk away, shaking his head, “We’ve got a job.” But Baekhyun caught his arm, making the taller male look at him.
“You can stomp around the compound till your heart's content, Yeol,” Baekhyun started with a look, “But when something eating at you, it hinders your ability to think – and we can’t have that, not now.”
“So, you’re not asking me cause you care?” Chanyeol’s eyebrow flicked up as he looked down at the man, “You just don’t want me shot.”
“I do care, you wouldn’t be here if I didn’t,” Baekhyun’s hands raised in a calm down gesture, placating the man for a brief couple seconds, “You’re showing that you’re upset over something so I’m asking you as a friend, what’s wrong.”
“We’ll talk about it later,” Chanyeol sighed, looking around the area, “Not worth discussing now okay?”
“You promise?” Baekhyun smirked softly, but there was a friendliness to it.
“I don’t make promises, as you told me to,” Chanyeol smirked back at him, “Now do your job.”
“Sehun’s rubbing off on you,” Baekhyun laughed while walking towards the stairs, “I’ll meet you in the middle, sound good?”
“Sound good,” Chanyeol nodded before walking towards the corner that led to the ground floor apartments.
“Stay safe,” Baekhyun sang slightly which Chanyeol shook his head at.
The apartment building was disgusting, meaningless graffiti slew across desolate walls that were barely holding on – the musty smell had Chanyeol’s nose turning up slightly as he flashed his light down the hallway that held the apartments; the dust dancing in the bright light.
“Where did Jongin get this place…” Chanyeol mumbled to himself, flashing his light up at the first door.
Apartment G1
He took as deep a breath as he could before he tried the doorknob, the old piece of wood falling open as Chanyeol applied a bit force – a cloud of dust kicking up with it, Chanyeol’s hands swatting the particles away with a cough.
“And why are we doing it at night,” He mumbled on from his point earlier, readying his gun as he stepped into the apartment.
It was a pretty basic layout, open plan kitchen living room that probably reversed in each home with a small hallway that led to the only bedroom and bathroom in the place; it wasn’t as light as what the apartments up on the floors would be but Chanyeol merely just prepared himself for the dark before fully walking into the place. The place looked like it hadn’t been touched in years, aside from the small graffiti that was littered it seemed no one ever stuck down here.
“They probably all slept in one room for safety,” He spoke to himself quietly, thinking of the fact that this area was rife with homelessness and there were rumours of numerous break in’s here – not that the pace showed it.
Chanyeol was careful when he opened door to the only bedroom, coughing softly at the stench of mould that filled the room; a breeze whistling in from a left open window. It was strange for a window to be open in an apartment that looked like it handed been touched in a while, but at the same time; Chanyeol didn’t know how long it had been open for. A small sigh passed his lips as approached the thing, shining his light into the ground outside; a fat lot of nothing.
“Note to self,” Chanyeol mumbled while giving the bathroom the same treatment, “Talk to Jongin about the validity of his tip-offs,”
There were sixteen different apartments in the one stretch of hallway, all categorised by the same peeling green door and faded gold numbers – something that grew monotonous to Chanyeol after the 4th apartment as they were all as empty as the last.
Apartment G5
“Here goes nothing,” He faintly whispered to himself as he went to open the door but stopping slightly as he looked down at the ground; the door just barely open.
Unnoticeable to some, a patch of dust that had been clinging to the old wooden floors had been recently disturbed; Chanyeol remembering how his boots left marks in the settling dust and how easy the dust could settle again. Placing his hand on his gun that was tucked into his pants, he opened the door; letting the wood bounce off the wall behind it.
The apartment looked as untouched as the last but faintly on the floor near the hallway, there was a scuff that alerted Chanyeol that he wasn’t alone; drawing his gun up in front of him, he took a careful step into the apartment; wary of any loose floorboards that might alert anyone straight away that he was entering.
Planting his shoulder to the adjacent wall that led down the hallway, Chanyeol took a small breath before swinging himself around; the butt of his gun connecting with flesh making him grit his teeth.
Dressed completely in black with a covered voice, he heard a modulated gasp come from the mouth of his assailants mask; Chanyeol wasting no time in gripping the man by the scruff of his neck to toss him into the open plan – dust springing up everywhere as the body landed with a thud.
“Who are you,” Chanyeol demanded, aiming his gun at the person, switching the safety off.
A modulated laugh siphoned out of the mask the man was wearing, his shoulders jumping slightly as he laid back on the ground, arms folded over his stomach like nothing was happening. Just as Chanyeol was losing his patients with the idiot, the man held up a remote shaking it slightly just at the same time Chanyeol felt something cold pressing into the back of his skull. The cackling man still laughed, taking a breath before speaking again.
“Wouldn’t you like to know, Park Chanyeol?”
Baekhyun liked to imagine that the precious few hours before Electric Kiss opened its doors were supposed to be his quiet time; a small amount of time that he dedicated to ignoring everyone that tried to talk to him unless it was of the utmost importance, one where he could sit at his cushy desk and imagine that he was a regular guy that worked a regular job. But Baekhyun was not a regular guy – something that was becoming more and more evident as he found himself slammed in the chest with a foreign object on the way to get a meagre drink from the bar.
“How are you today, Baekhyun?” He mimicked his newest workers voice whilst glaring down at her, before answering himself in a conversation that wasn’t happening, “I was fine, almost peaceful until someone decided to get in my way.” He snapped softly, brushing the hand that was holding something to his chest away with an annoyed tsk.
“My composure is now wearing thin,” He plunked an eyebrow at the girl in front of him, his eyes flicking between Y/N and Joohyun, the later who was wearing a wince behind the bar, “What do you want.”
“What’s this?” She waved a crème envelope in front of his eyes, his eyes narrowing slightly at this thing.
“If I say a piece of paper can I go?” He asked with a raised brow, but she merely glared at him.
“Baekhyun,” She snapped slightly, but he merely rolled his eyes and plucked the thing out of her fingers – his eyes narrowing at the silver insignia on the wax seal, the tree of life staring him in the face.
“Unless I’ve been leaving my stationary around then I’m curious to where you got this,” He frowned, opening the envelope quickly – the familiar cursive written across the thick crème paper, the feeling of a look passing over his eyes.
“You are warmly invited to a night of festivities, courtesy of Exodus.
It would be with great pleasure if you would honour us with your presence at the Byun City Estate this coming Friday for a black-tie event.
We look forward to your attendance.”
“Night of festivities my ass,” He spoke to himself as he watched the women in front of him look utterly confused, a small roll of irritation passing down his spine before he thrust the paper back to her.
“Joohyun,” Baekhyun smiled rather tensely at his other bartender, “Be a peach and let me borrow her for a bit, we’ve got some things we need to discuss.”
“Is everything okay, Byun?” Her eyebrow quirked slightly, a glimmer of something in her eyes as she flicked between himself and Y/N.
Baekhyun merely gritted his teeth in a rather tense smile before parting without a word, the scurry of feet behind him signifying that the woman in question was indeed following him. The walk to his office was brief but it felt like an eternity at the same time as the two went without words, and well he was without a drink and a little irritated to the point he flinched himself when he opened the door to his office with a little more aggression than what was needed.
“Sit.” His gestured to the plush seat in front of his desk lazily, while rounding the magnificent piece of dark wood himself.
He let out a rather stressed sigh as he sunk down into his leather desk chair, the cushions hugging his tense back muscles in a warm embrace – Baekhyun’s eyes fluttered shut for a moment to savour the feeling.
“What is this all about?” Your voice broke his silence, a puff of air passing through his lips as he opened his eyes to look at you; probably the vision of a tired man. “Why am I being invited to your house?
“Where did you get that invitation?” He countered with a slightly raised brow.
“I asked first,” He rolled his eyes as you snapped back.
“Watch the tone,” Baekhyun huffed at you, “Just answer the damn question, you’re not in trouble here.”
“I came home from work two days ago and it was laying on the floor of my entryway,” You huffed back at him, laying back on his leather chair as you did, “You’re the only Byun I know so I figured you could tell me.”
“What does he see in you, I’m still yet to work that out” Baekhyun eyes rolled, lounging carefully back into the plush chair, “I can’t tell you why you got one because I didn’t see it off, so if anyone’s going to do something without my knowledge, well... I think I can hazard a guess who it is.” You frowned.
“But what is it.” You stressed, tossing the envelope onto his desk.
Baekhyun took a second to compose himself, rubbing his eyes with his pointer finger and thumb to relieve some of the tension before speaking.
“It’s an invite to a very exclusive party,” Baekhyun began with a look on his face, “Factions of Exodus will congregate together for one night under some elusive reason, we haven’t had one in a while, but…” He gestured to the invite.
“I guess that’s changing,” He tutted, “Obviously I knew about the party, but I was not informed of who was going...”
“Wait,” You said confused, rightly so, “Then why did I get this? I’m not part of any of your…Factions?”
“That’s the million-dollar question,” Baekhyun hummed before he lulled his head to look you in the eyes, “You're taking this rather calmly.”
“It’s just party, right?” You naively asked, “I don’t have to go do I?” Baekhyun let out a rather low laugh at that.
“You have no idea about this world, do you?” He asked honestly, “It isn’t as easy as just declining an invitation.”
“Well, what happens if I do?” She asked, eyes a bit wider, “Am I fucked?” Baekhyun chuckled at that but it was short-lived.
“Listen, something you need to know is that every “immediate family” to the Oh’s gets a number of invitations they can hand out,” He gestured to the papers slew across his desk, “It’s only for high ranking members and they’re limited, so whoever gave you that was a higher member.”
“So, who was it?” He watched her rightly frown, something he started tapping his finger on his desk at.
“See that’s where this gets even funnier,” Baekhyun hummed with an annoyed look on his face, “That’s mine but that’s not my handwriting.” He watched her mouth open to dispute him and, in his annoyance, he was quick to refute her with a finger being held up.
“Sehun may like being interrupted by you but I don’t so shut it.” He snipped, “I didn’t write the damn thing.” He watched her deflate back into his chair.
“I only wrote out a few,” Baekhyun defended, “And you were not on that list.” There was a small beat of silence as the two of you tried to think of something to explain the invitation; the two of your minds clearly off to completely other directions.
It took Baekhyun only a few seconds to put the pieces together, nothing his brothers like the back of his hands; but if you received one of these stupid things that to him meant that whatever higher power involved wanted you there – something you were not catching up with.
“Chanyeol?” You asked with a sigh, “He could have, he got a weird...” Baekhyun smirked as he watched you struggled with the feelings of the taller man but also at the hilarity of it.
“A weird attachment? Nice theory but laughable at best.” Baekhyun kept smirking.
“How so?” You huffed, glaring at him slightly – ignoring the previous jab.
“Chanyeol isn’t even high enough ranked to send out any invitations,” Baekhyun stated as he watched you frown, a sigh passing his lips at something else you clearly knew nothing about.
Shaking his head, Baekhyun snatched a piece of paper from the tray on his desk before gesturing you forwards; scribbling something down.
“Oh the things I do for this man…” He thought to himself.
“I’m doing you a favour, so if anything of this leaves this room, even a peep to some who isn’t us; I’ll know,” He glared at you, “And I’ll make sure you pay for it, do I make myself clear?” He asked plainly, watching as you mouth glued itself shut for a second.
“Don’t make me repeat myself,” Baekhyun told you, “Am I clear?”
“Crystal,” You huffed at him, an air of attitude passing over your face for a second, “What is it with you all threatening my life, I’m of no importance.”
“A match is of no importance to a piece of wood until it’s up in flames,” He retorted like he normally did, quick-witted, “Now pay attention.”
“Yes sir…” You curled your lip up in annoyance slightly before giving the paper your attention, something which Baekhyun opted to ignore for now.
‘Oh’ was written very clearly at the top, Baekhyun’s scripture something you didn’t expect as you looked at the nearly perfect cursive.
“I’m guessing you know who this is?” Baekhyun gestured to the name, “Oh is Sehun’s family name and ergo, the leader of this all.” He watched you nod.
“Okay, I could guess he was the boss…” You bit down on your lip slightly, “He made that message clear.”
“Good,” Baekhyun ticked at you before writing a series of three names directly in a line under the Oh’s, connecting them with lines to their leader.
Byun. Kim. Zhang.
“These three are the three main families directly under the Oh’s,” He explained to you, “Do you know who these are?”
“Well, you’re Byun.” She affirmed to him, “But the other two I don’t know.” He sighed softly.
“I’m from the Byun’s, yes,” He started, “Kim is the family that Junmyeon is from, he is Sehun’s right-hand man.” He looked at you to check you understood before continuing.
“Zhang is Yixing’s family, you’ve met him very briefly,” You nodded to him, “He typically does our more…Out of area stuff – not for your ears.”
“What do you do?” She interrupted him again, “Your family I mean…” Baekhyun tensed slightly but he guessed she’d be inquisitive – every time he met the woman, she was asking some form of a question.
“Don’t tell the others,” He tried to counter the feelings bubbling with a bit of sarcasm, “But its typically written in order of importance, arguably my family and the Oh’s are the closest, we sort out the nasty stuff they don’t want to – but if you’re asking about me? I do a bit of everything.” Your eyebrow raised at that.
“Shouldn’t that make you Sehun’s right-hand man?” His jaw ticked slightly as you mocked the way he spoke for a second.
“You’ve met Junmyeon?” Baekhyun tried to counter you, “I’d hate to be that uptight about everything.”
“But…” You tried to talk but he merely glared at you.
“Back to the task at hand,” He gestured to the paper with a snap, “I’m doing you a favour, as much as it would bring me no greater joy to see you get ripped apart by the wolves, I’d rather save myself the scolding since your name is on my invitation and guest-list.”
“You’re so hot and cold,” You quietly huffed but paid him attention again.
“There is one more connected to the Oh’s,” His eyebrow raised slightly while drawing a line that was straight across from the Oh’s, not beneath like the other three, “That’s the Parks.”
“The Parks?” You echoed him slightly with a small furrow of your brow.
“I believe you met their delightful heir,” He rolled his eyes, “Park Jeonghwa, the woman you met.”
“That’s her?” Your own nose scrunched at that as he hummed in agreement.
“Complicated family relationship between the two but she’s an only child and her father is a bigwig in the city; you probably know him.” Baekhyun explained, “Own’s a pharmaceutical company, that invests in the city hospitals, he’s the chairman of them basically.”
Legacy Pharmaceutical
“But he’s in the pocket of the gang…” You asked quietly, “Isn’t that…”
“Highly illegal?” Baekhyun said like it was nothing, “Yes, but he’s a big investor, helps us out when we need it – doesn’t do anything the grimy stuff that we do but his hands aren’t clean.”
“Come to think of it,” Baekhyun smirked looking at you with an act of slight revenge written in his eyes, “Doesn’t your precious boytoy work in the main hospital in the city?”
“For a man that turns his nose up at us, I’m sure he’d be just elated to know who his boss is…” Baekhyun kept talking because he knew it would rile you up.
“Paper?” You snapped at him slightly, a feeling of pure joy filled him knowing you had a small thread to pull on. “So, where do Chanyeol and such fit in.”
“I was getting there,” He rolled his eyes, “Chanyeol, along with Jongin, Kyungsoo, Minseok and Jongdae full under what we call ‘adopted brothers’.”
“Adopted?” You repeated clear confusion.
“Adopted,” He affirmed to you, “Every so often, the main families will take people under their wings I guess, it’s different to just… Joining us.”
“How?” You asked him, still clearly confused.
“Anyone can join us if you know the right people,” Baekhyun stated to you while placing his pen down, “But adopted brothers are someone we’ve asked to join our ranks, we’re responsible for them in a sense.”
“So like prodigies?” He watched you try to rationalise it all with a hint of amusement on his face.
“Sort of, we train them and are directly responsible for them, they’re often hand-picked and there isn’t that many of them.” He explained to you slowly, “It’s sort of a phenonium, you have to get approval from the head of your family and the head of the gang.”
“So, it’s like literal adoption in a sense? You induct them into the family, not just the gang.” You kept up with him.
In that moment of time, Baekhyun could understand the appeal in your that Sehun seemed to see; you rationalised quicker than most and especially for someone who literally is having the information they don’t want dumped on them.
“Yes, like that,” He nodded, “They don’t hold the same respect as blood children would, but they’re apart of the family in a sense, they can even take their names if they really want.”
“It’s complicated and not easy to understand, it’s also different for every family,” He hummed, “Some people, like my own father, don’t give a shit about adopted brother’s they’re just pawns to him, but Kim’s turn theirs into mini geniuses” His nose turned softly.
“What about Zhang’s?” You asked curiously.
“Negotiators, mini leaders, the best liars you’ll ever meet,” He smirked slightly, “Zhang’s don’t just take on anyone, it’s an honour to be selected.”
“So, who goes where? Who is what family?” You looked a bit more interested than the beginning of the conversation, something Baekhyun wasn’t sure was a good or a bad thing.
“Jongin and Kyungsoo are part of the Kim’s, but only Jongin carried the name.” He sighed softly, writing their names under Kim’s
“Minseok and Jongdae are Zhang’s, neither took the name for safety reasons.” He smirked softly as you let a little noise.
“So that leaves…” You trailed off slightly.
“Chanyeol is a Byun, didn’t take the name though,” Baekhyun hummed, “Park Chanyeol sounds better.”
“Park?” You quizzed as he laughed softly.
“Not related, don’t worry about that,” He chuckled, “Byun didn’t have a ring to it so he stuck to his actual name, but I doubt my father would let him use it anyway…” He trailed off himself.
“Why only one for you?” You asked honestly, “I guessed you and Chanyeol were close, but why only one?”
“Short story; My father is a bastard,” Baekhyun shrugged, tossing his pen back into the pot, “He’s all about being a pure Byun – no adoptive business.”
“But Chanyeol?” You frowned.
“Chanyeol is lucky I like him,” Baekhyun sighed, “Listen it’s a lot more complicated when you look into the families, back to the task at hand.”
“Does Sehun have anyone?” You asked, a glint in your eye.
“No,” Baekhyun didn’t waste time in shutting you down, “He doesn’t bother with that business, he’s got his hands full with us.”
“I’m still confused to why you’re telling me this though, I appreciate it but…” Baekhyun sighed again for what felt like the umpteenth time.
“Friday, you’re going.” He stated to her, “Your invitation is under the Byun name and I will not have you disgracing it by rejecting it.”
“But I don’t want to go?” Your voice heightened slightly.
“I don’t care.” Baekhyun said simply, “You’re were asked to go by a high-rank family, and you will attend – I’m not skinning myself to save you from whatever nonsense my father will conjure up as punishment.”
“But I’m not a part of this.” You snapped at him, a fire in your eyes, “You’re dancing around everything, who sent the invitation, Baekhyun – you can explain all you want but I know you know.”
“Wow, you do not catch on quick.” He hummed, “Of course I know, you idiot – it’s as clear as day to me, but you do not, so what you’re doing going to do is turn up like you’re asked and smile prettily at the boss or whatever ever it is you do with him.”
“You can’t force me,” Your jaw was tense.
“Yes, I can.” He smirked, “I know where you live and I’m not above coming to your place and dragging you myself.”
“I’ll get-,” He cut you off.
“The police?” He leered, “You forget how we got here”
“I hate you; I hate all of you.” You spat at him, “There was supposed to be no meddling, I told you what I know.”
“I’m not Chanyeol,” Baekhyun laughed with a drawl, “I don’t care if you hate me.” You were fuming in your seat, Baekhyun could read that very easily, so to bring the situation back down to what it was before, he took a deep breath before speaking again.
“Friday evening; a car will pick you up at 6:45 pm,” He began sharply while looking at you, “You will be dressed in something appropriate, I will provide it if you need it, and you will pretend that you are going to a perfectly normal party.” His eyes ticked softly.
“You don’t need to stay the whole time, but you need to turn up – do I make myself clear?” He asked you, without a bit to his words. “Everything I just told you will keep you in check, no talking to anyone that doesn’t talk to you – people will be watching you”
“What do I get out of it…” You asked quietly, simmering down from your earlier burst.
“Well, what do you want?” His mouth was tense, “I’m not Sehun, I don’t hand out favours.”
“I want to not go.” You bit at him, “Or you tell me why I’m going in the first place.”
“Not an option, pick something else.” He responded.
“Pay rise and a promise,” You asked plainly, not giving it much thought, something that his eyebrows flicked up to, “I want a pay raise for working here, and I want you to promise that I will not be involved in any pathetic schemes like this again.”
“Not even any diabolical plans?” He smirked softly.
“Baekhyun,” You warned him, something he raised his hands to.
“Pay rise I can do,” He explained, “The other thing I’ll see about, I’m not a man who makes promises.”
“Talk to your boss or something, I don’t care” You snipped, “I’m tired of this, it’s bad enough that I work here.”
“So, you won’t attend a party, but you’ll take our money,” He pulled an amused face, “Some moral high ground you have, completely solid.”
He looked at you quite amused as you stood up, snatching the papers off his desk before pointing a finger at him.
“This is the last time I do anything for any of you, whoever wrote the damn invitation…” You started with a stressed look, “Tell them I will personally make their life hell if they don’t stop, I’m tired and want no part in any of this.”
“Don’t shoot the messenger before the message can be sent,” Baekhyun tutted with a raised eyebrow, “Don’t worry Cinderella, we’ll make you a real belle of the ball.”
“Oh, fuck you, Baekhyun,” You snapped at him before storming to his office door, practically tearing it off the hinges more than he did, before speaking again, “Get me a dress.” Was the last thing you said before you slammed the door – Baekhyun jumping slightly at the force of it.
As soon as you left, he felt the mask melt off for a brief second – his body sinking back into the chair as the stress of the last hour left a funny taste in house mouth.
“What are you thinking, you idiot…” He spoke quietly to himself, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
“Do you normally have that effect on women?” Baekhyun practically leapt in his seat as a new voice joined his own.
“Fucking hell… Joohyun,” Baekhyun snapped, glaring at the woman now standing in front of his desk, “What have I told you about sneaking up on me.”
“She’s in a mood, practically shook down the whole place,” Joohyun asked with a raised brow, “Why is that?”
“Not anything you’d be interested in,” Baekhyun leaned back in his chair to continue rubbing his eyes, the familiar burn seeping into his retinas, “Gang stuff and such.”
“Gang stuff,” She whistled lowly, trailing around his desk to lean on it, looking down at him, “A soft thing like that, what did she do to you all?” He glanced up at her with a sigh.
“Nothing,” Baekhyun pulled his mouth tight, “Surprisingly, she was just in the wrong place at the very wrong time”
“Which means?” She pushed slightly, a slight smirk curling on her lips.
“Bar shoot up, Sehun spared her,” Baekhyun crossed his arms loosely over his chest, “Ridiculous move, but here we are.”
“My my…” She laughed softly, “I can tell that’s not even the full story”
“You have no idea…” He sighed softly.
“That heartless bastard actually has a heart, wow.” Joohyun chuckled, “Who would have thought?”
“That heartless bastard,” Baekhyun repeated, “Is the most powerful man in the city, remember that he’s got ears everywhere.” He looked up at her with an amused look.
“You’d never rat me out would you, Baekhyun?” She asked sweetly, a smirk painted on her lovely mouth.
“Do me a favour and I won’t have to,” He smirked back, “Get her a dress for a black-tie event.”
“Now,” Joohyun tutted, “You don’t even pay me enough for that,”
Baekhyun gave her a look before fishing into his pocket, pulling out his wallet quickly and handing her a credit card, swiping it back before she could fully grab it.
“You’re not just buying her a dress, are you?” He gave her a look, to which Joohyun merely laughed back in response, swiping his card.
“The son of a very rich man hands you a credit card asking for a favour? of course I’m not just getting her a dress…” She teased looking at the black card with an impressed look, “Oh a black card as well…I have a couple of things on my wishlist too.”
“You’re a cruel woman, Irene” He gave her a fake sad look, using her work name to tick her off slightly, “If you wanted the house, I could have got it for you”
“And have to be indebted to you?” She smirked before nodding at the door, “I’m not one of your lackeys, I owe you a lot but not a ‘5-bedroom house with walk-in closet’ lot.”
“You’re my best employee, buy what you want,” He smirked slightly, “You deserve it.” He nodded, as she went to open her mouth, he cut her off.
“You would deserve it more if you accompanied me on Friday,” He raised an eyebrow at her, “Like I asked.”
“I do recall you complaining to me that you didn’t want to go because your family would be there,” She mocked a frown, “Also that, and I quote…”
“Chanyeol is being a miserable bastard, Sehun is a lovesick puppy, and no one wants to have fun,” She mocked his voice and his stature, before going back to her tune, “Did I get that right?”
“Actually, I change my mind, I’ll ask someone else,” He tried to swipe the card back but Joohyun looked elated as she jumped from his desk, waving the thing in front of her.
“Ah, no take-backs,” She smirked, walking towards the door in what Baekhyun could only call a strut of pure jubilation, “I want that new coat and bag, it’s getting cold outside,”
“Just get her the dress, Joo…” He called out to her as she walked out the door, “And is that a yes to Friday?”
“I’ll get her the dress, Baekhyun”
Sehun’s eyes refused to leave the pieces of papers splayed out in front of him, but his hands told a different story and he fished in his suit jacket to pull out a familiar black and silver box; his nimble fingers deftly pulling out a cigarette before an elegant black gas lighter was lighting the extension of his stress. It wasn’t long before curls of smoke crawled out of his lips, a relaxed sigh leaving his chest as they did – he paid, even more, no mind as his fingers plucked the thing from his mouth to ash it in the crystal ashtray that always sat on his desk.
“That’s going to kill you one day, you know?” Junmyeon tutted disapprovingly, looking at the younger man with a slight grimace; the smell of smoke filling the room.
“Ah yes, the cigarette is going to kill me,” Sehun spoke back without looking at the man, continuing to take draws from his cigarette, “Not the countless threats on my life, the guns, running a gang, or even the countless enemies.” He had a sarcastic edge to his voice as he spoke, tapping the ash off again into the tray.
Junmyeon was silenced at that.
“But yes, let's worry about my nicotine addiction – this pack of Marlboros is just pressing a gun to my temple waiting to pull the trigger at any moment,” Sehun flicked to the next page still not bothered to glance at his brother, “Truly terrifying.”
Another beat of silence passed between them to which Sehun sighed to fill.
“You’ve clearly got something to say, so say it.” He tutted.
“Why can’t you ever take anything seriously?” Jun sighed, tossing his pen down.
“I do take things seriously, insufferably so” Sehun countered ashing off his cigarette again before tossing his papers down, “Actually I think I might be the only one here taking anything seriously.”
“Sehun…” Jun gave him a look, sitting a bit straighter but Sehun carried on talking.
“I do recall that it’s my head someone has a metaphorical, or probably more, in this case, literal gun to,” Sehun ranted while taking another draw of his cig, “It’s my business, my family, hell its what’s left of my livelihood that got a giant red marker over it.” He stood up pushing his chair back to look out the window keeping his back turned to his brother.
“And what have I got defending that, huh?” He countered himself quietly again.
“You have us,” Junmyeon sighed, putting his papers down to come to stand beside the man, “All of us…” He rested his hand on his shoulder while the latter pressed his cancer stick back to his lips.
“You know Baekhyun said he’d be proud of me…” Sehun spoke quietly, his face almost reminding the older man that he wasn’t as far from a child as he liked to think he was, “Very proud…” His voice took an edge to it.
“But you don’t believe that.” Junmyeon opposed quietly.
“Why should I?” Sehun asked him honestly, turning to face the man while he flicked the bug of his cigarette out the window, “I’ve lost thousands in weapons, I’ve had a drug laundering bar go bust and detained by police, I've had shipments stolen and tampered with before being redistributed under someone else’s name…” He looked at his watch briefly.
“All within… Nearly two weeks.” He tutted, “I think that’s a track record, considering the man that’s supposedly proud of me handled everything with the utmost ease…”
“Your father was…” Junmyeon trailed off for a second before Sehun cut in.
“A horrible man, a narcissist, a murderer, a criminal,” Sehun’s eyes danced with mirth that wasn’t pleasant to look at, the sarcastic yet jovial stance didn’t settle well with Junmyeon’s stomach in the slightest.
“He was your father, he raised you,” Junmyeon concurred, “We may not have the most settling of up bringing’s, but this is our world – you know that.”
“Actually, nannies raised me,” Sehun retorted sarcastically. “Stop spending so much time with Baekhyun,” Junmyeon rolled his eyes, “You know what I meant.”
“I’m going to be very plain with you, Jun,” Sehun spoke honestly, sliding his hands into his pockets while he gazed out at the fields in front of the compound, “Your world and mine and very different…”
“How so?” Junmyeon asked, his eyebrow raised, “We grew up in the same circles.”
“The difference is that you were your father’s golden boy…” Sehun started with a sigh, “He wanted you to better yourself, be a part of this world – you belong here because you want to be.”
“And you don’t?” Jun wasn’t mad, “Is it that insufferable to be here doing this?”
“I didn’t get a choice,” Sehun chewed on his lip, “From the moment I was even conceptualised I had everything laid out for me, not a say otherwise… It’s heavy guilt to carry.”
“You’re hardly worse off because of it,” Junmyeon shrugged, “It’s a heavy guilt that reaps rewards that only some men can dream of, that has to count for something.”
“Do you know why you have the job you do?” Sehun asked off-topic.
“Because Baekhyun said no?” Jun frowned slightly.
“That…” Sehun chuckled faintly, “And because you’re the only man who can do the job; otherwise I would have run off years ago, and you know fine well Baekhyun would have let me.”
“Baekhyun would let you burn the city if it meant he could fight off a chill,” Junmyeon hummed, “Byun’s good at what he does, but I still don’t get where you’re going with this.”
“Where I’m going with this is that I have a very horrible feeling,” Sehun sighed.
“About tomorrow…?” Jun asked, leaving the man to leave against his desk.
“Not just about tomorrow,” Sehun sighed, telling a lie that not even his closest brother needed to know, “That’s just another showboat to get the families back on my side; I mean in general.”
“Check my top drawer…” Sehun nodded to his desk.
There was a passage of silence between the two while Junmyeon plucked a thick envelope out of Sehun’s desk; the usual matte black being replaced with a crisp crème, the silver tree of life taunting the man with its presence.
“Is this…” Junmyeon said in disbelief.
“It’s not a will…” Sehun sighed, “Think of it as the next course of action in case of an untimely demise of any kind.”
“Sehun…” Junmyeon started, “You can’t be serious.”
“I am, very…” He sighed “It’s just a precaution that’s all,”
“Listen,” Junmyeon sighed, tossing the documents back into the drawer, “I get it's hard; things aren’t ideal right now and we’re all running with our heads off but even Rome wasn’t built in a day, there’s going to be mishaps.”
Sehun hummed with a smirk on his lips.
“But it burned in one.”
After your spat with Baekhyun in his office, you assumed that your next day off would be spent finally relaxing into your couch while the world passed around you – but as you occupied yourself early Wednesday morning, you felt a wash of confusion bathe over you at the sound of a knocking door. A sigh passing out your lips as you tossed your dishtowel down to investigate. Taking a breath before opening the door your smile felt like it dropped as you caught glimpse of who was on the other side.
“Joohyun,” You asked, shocked at the women who was giving you a dazzling smile on the other side of the wood frame, “What are you doing here?” You stuttered softly looking at her.
Dressed in woollen coat, black turtleneck, and grey slacks - she looked like a million dollars, especially considering it was 9 in the morning.
“We’re going out,” She grinned, pushing herself into your apartment; looking around with a look of approval, “Homely, very you.” It took you a second to process what she said while you closed the door.
“Out?” You echoed, “Where, or more so, why?”
“Well…” She smirked softly, “A little birdie, told me you need a dress, don’t you?” You deflated slightly.
“He was being serious about it wasn’t he,” You sighed turning to look at the woman who made herself very at home looking at everything you had on display; more so the pictures that sat on your bookcase. “Listen Joohyun, I appreciate the help but-.”
“Handsome guy, your boyfriend?” She cut you off completely, changing the topic to what she wanted to talk about; she was holding up an old photo that you knew was your old friends, or more so yours and Jeonghan’s old friends. “The two of you look cosy,” She smiled.
Rushing over slightly you plucked the frame out of her hand to rest back on the shelf, a look passing over your face at your boss; her easy smile giving you a sense that she wasn’t being completely honest.
“Ex. Now, what are you doing here really?” She quizzed, looking at the woman who huffed slightly.
“Ex hmm…Like I said, you need a dress and I’m here to help.” She coolly breezed past you to keep looking around, “No offence but you don’t exactly scream that you’re knowledgeable on black tie events.” She laughed softly.
“Baekhyun said he’d provide the dress, he didn’t mention shopping,” You sighed, looking at her as she smiled softly at an old stuffed toy you kept on the couch as a makeshift cushion.
“Baekhyun doesn’t mention much,” Joohyun turned from what she was looking at to beam at you, “Again, hence why I am here and I’m not leaving this apartment without you.”
“Joo…” You started but she shushed you.
“You’re going, Baekhyun even offered to pay if you’re unsure about prices,” She smirked softly, plucking a card from her coat pocket, “Piece of cake.”
“Do I not get a choice?” You asked defeatedly.
“Let me think,” She smiled, “No.” A tinkering laugh spilt from her lips, looking at her, she painted herself with the vision of an angel; a halo practically glowing from the crown of her perfect hair.
“Give me five minutes,” You rolled your tongue in your cheek slightly, shaking your head as you beelined for your room.
“You have two!” She cackled softly, clearly going back to her snooping.
“Of course, I do…”
After being rushed out the house by the excitable Joohyun, you couldn’t help by smile at her softly as she linked her arm with yours; the two of your taking public transport like two friends who had known each other for years, it was wholesome to an extent, but there was an underlying feeling behind it all.
Joohyun had rightfully taken you to the richer part of town, the one that was lined with designer shops that had a price tag worth a year of your rent; her ecstatic voice talking your ears off as you two strolled down the pristine street.
“We’re here for your dress, but I have a few things I want to get!” She grinned, “We’re gonna get you the whole package; dress, shoes, jewellery, the works!”
“Is Baekhyun okay with this?” You quizzed slightly, looking around at the people who were looking at the two of you, “I mean this is a lot of money,”
“Between you and me,” She mumbled with a smirk, stopping in front of a very fancy looking store, ‘The Kingdom’ written across a crème signage in beautiful modern letters, “Baekhyun’s more than good for it, the card he gave me probably doesn’t max out until into the millions…”
“He really has that much?” You frowned softly.
“He’s a gang member, silly, and the son of one of the richest men in the world,” She smirked at you widely, “Of course he has that much, now come on…” She tugged your hand with a smile, watching at the security guard opened the door for the two of you with a polite smile.
“Ladies.” He nodded, while the two of you strolled in.
Clothing of all sorts lined the racks in a spacey fashion, giving the customer room to glance at the garments without having to struggle with anything else; but Joo didn’t give you enough time to look at anything before she was tugging you to the back of the store, an array of dresses picking up in your peripherals.
“This is where the money is,” Joohyun smile brightly, gesturing to the dresses, “Let’s get looking…”
After talking briefly the two of you concurred that due to the fact you didn’t want to be there, it was probably best to stick to a black dress; something to blend in with but something that wasn’t a gaudy colour at the same time, minimalist yet sophisticated. The store attendant had bothered you both a few times to ask if you needed help but each time Joohyun shooed her away with a smile, telling the sour-faced woman that she had it handled; and that she did.
It took merely 15 minutes before Joohyun was shoving you into a fancy fitting room; one the size of a small bedroom while she talked to the woman in charge about getting your size for other dresses that had caught her eye. The room had a podium in the centre of it that directly looked at a series of huge mirrors, while a silk curtains off to the side hide where you were supposed to change; yours and Joohyun bags swung unceremoniously over the chairs for the waiting husbands. There was an air of discomfort in your chest you ran your fingers over the lux fabrics of all the dresses, a small pang in your heart feeling disgusting just being here. This wasn’t your world, and to some degree, you couldn’t understand how it could be anyone’s but as you picked up the first dress, you figured you had to live with it for a while.
By the time you’d managed to get into the first dress, Joohyun and all her tyrannic dress tendencies were back in the room, her nose turning up slightly at the first dress you tried on. It was a beautiful sheer cream with a colourful shift to it that glinted softly in the light, the airiness of the tulle looking ethereal as the modest bust line squared off into spaghetti straps – it was a lovely dress but.
“It looks like a prom dress,” Joohyun giggled softly, cutting off your inner thoughts, “A very expensive prom dress…”
“I thought so too,” You tried to smile softly, but it looked more like a grimace in the mirrors, your eyes catching your companions as she came up behind you in the mirror.
“Smile,” She tugged softly at your cheek, “We’re having fun.”
“This just isn’t me,” You said honestly, looking yourself up and down in the mirror, “I don’t do fancy dresses and cocktails with associates,” She jokingly rolled her eyes at the word associates.
“Honestly,” She adjusted the dress slightly, “Neither do I, this is a favour to Baekhyun…”
“So, you’re telling me you don’t want to be in an overpriced store with me on a Wednesday morning?” You hummed softly with a smile.
“No,” she stage whispered to you, “I like you but I’d rather hang out doing something a bit more productive than shopping with snobs, but hey – I really wanted that new coat” She winked.
“Will you be there?” You asked her, catching her eye.
“Where,” She hummed not looking at you, and instead, rearranging the skirt to the dress you both agreed was ugly.
“Friday,” You raised a brow, “Will you be there?” She held her breath slightly before she sighed.
“I won’t lie to you,” She nodded, “I won’t be there Friday, I don’t…” She struggled with the words for a second before continuing.
“I don’t belong there, it’s not my world and I’m not welcomed,” She smiled softly, but it wasn’t real, “I’m a bartender, not a socialite.”
“I’m not either,” You frowned, “I just thought you and Baekhyun seemed close…”
“We are,” She smiled sadly, “I owe that man more than I can ever thank him for, but his world isn’t mine – I don’t fool myself into believing I could be part of it either.” She placed her hands on your shoulders, the warmth radiating into your bones; much like her personality.
“But how?” You were still frowning, “He’s so…”
“Crass? Sarcastic? Pig headed?” She smiled, “That’s just him, we have an understanding…”
“You on the other hand,” She hummed softly looking at your shoulders, “I saw some security tapes the other day – Oh Sehun?” Her eyebrow raised while you flushed softly.
“He drove me home, I had to ask him some stuff…” You breathed softly, “It’s not like that, I don’t know him.”
“But he knows you?” She clicked her tongue softly, looking much like an older sister would, “I won’t tell you what to do, it’s your life but you need to be careful.”
“I know that,” You trailed slightly, but she didn’t give you time to explain as she spun you around to face her, your eyes looking down at her own.
“No, I don’t think you do,” She was frowning, “This isn’t some cheap book plot where a dangerous man falls for an innocent girl and the world does another rotation like nothing is wrong,” She stressed softly.
“He is a very dangerous man who is a part of a very dangerous gang, y/n…” She pursed her lips together, hands tightening on your shoulders, “They’re all dangerous, one wrong move and police are finding your body in a back ally with no clue who did it.”
“He shot up the bar you worked in,” She stressed to you, “Stop and think about that for a second before you get all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at the man, there is no way that this ends well for anyone, especially not you…” Her voice trailed off slightly, cracking almost at the end.
“Speaking from experience?” Your own voice cracked softly as you took in her words, a sad smile passing over her face.
“Go to the party, do as Baekhyun says…” She said softly, stroking your shoulder now instead of gripping it, “But you can’t let your heads get in the clouds about this, you’re being blind-sighted… You can’t fall for Sehun.” It was the first time she had said his name and you wanted to flinch hearing it.
“You work for them though?” You asked her truthfully.
“I work for Baekhyun, he’s no better… But I owe him,” She smiled sadly again, “I’m telling you this as your friend,”
“I know…” You smiled delicately at her, “I know you are; I’ll be careful – things right now… They’re complicated.”
“Promise me.” She demanded softly, “Anything goes wrong, you come to me.”
“I promise you, Joohyun,” You touched her hands softly, “Anything wrong, I’ll come straight to you.”
“Good,” She smiled, pushing a stray hair from your face like a mother would, “Let’s find you a dress huh?”
“I think I have the perfect thing…”
TRANSACTION: $10,000
Baekhyun grimaced as he looked at the notification that popped up on his phone during the meeting, the device buzzing with his bank app loudly on the table as Sehun; the grumpy man he was, was explaining the plans for Friday evening.
“Important?” Sehun’s brow ticked softly from the head of the table while Minseok stifled a laugh from beside him, “Or would you like us to pause while you take a message?”
“Sorry dad,” Baekhyun smirked slightly, sliding the device off the table and into his pocket – or he would have if Minseok didn’t decide it was a wonderful idea to pinch it out of his hand before he could.
“$10k, how are you spending money while you’re here?” He whistled lowly, before the device buzzed again, “Oh look at that, another one for $5k, what are you up to Byun.” He tossed the device back at the man who barely managed to catch it over the knock to his fiscal funds.
“I gave Joohyun my credit card,” He stuffed the offending device in his pocket before looking at his brothers, “I believe we were in a meeting or is it break time” He gestured to the papers over the table with a look, while the rest of them looked at him quizzically.
“I’ll bite,” Sehun smirked softly, “$15k in mere seconds, is she preparing to rob you dry?” Baekhyun rolled his eyes.
“I don’t know, you tell me, Oh?” Baekhyun tightened his mouth slightly, “Or was forging my invitations and paying for your little friend to come to this god-awful party not enough for you?” Baekhyun smirked softly as Sehun’s face tightened a bit, only something he would notice.
“I have no reason to forge anything of yours, Byun.” Sehun chuckled with an easy smirk while Junmyeon sighed slightly tossing his pen down, “And I certainly didn’t invite her, have you tried our resident stab wound victim?” He gestured to Chanyeol’s empty seat.
“Can’t we just have a nice family meeting? Just once?” Junmyeon rubbed his temple slightly, “Or is your own security measures beneath all of you?”
“He started it,” Baekhyun smirked, “Sorry Dad number 2,” Minseok chuckled beside him again while Jongdae did the same from across him.
“If you’re up to something, just don’t let me hear it,” He spoke out but everyone knew who it was directed at, “It’s bad enough we’re all gathering on Friday if anyone of you fucks that up then it's directly on you.”
“Oh, he said a swear,” Baekhyun chuckled, while Yixing cut in – the man relaxing like he was the one that one the place on the other end of the table.
“Do we still have that swear jar?” Yixing teased, sipping on his coffee.
“No,” Jongin hummed, “We got rid of that after Baekhyun’s last trip home, you can only deposit so much into it before it becomes another bank account,” The man had an easy smirk on his face.
The bantering stopped for a second while the double doors opened again, Taeyong and Johnny letting in a very haggard looking Chanyeol – the evidence that the man just woke up still on his face.
“That’s a record,” Sehun hummed with a tone that wasn’t biting for once, “Only 2 hours late,”
“Slept in,” Chanyeol grumbled while Jongdae slid the man a coffee.
“No, we thought you were off running to be the cities next murder victim again,” Baekhyun grinned at the man who merely passed him a glare, whatever had been eating at him wasn’t as bad but Baekhyun couldn’t tell if the stab wound was just worse.
“No threatening doctor and cute nurse to patch you up this time,” Jongin laughed softly.
“How are you feeling, Yeol?” Yixing asked him with a slight smile, to try and ease the teasing but Chanyeol wasn’t having any of that.
“Like I’ve been stabbed, Yixing.” He spoke with a dead look on his face.
“That’s great,” Minseok chuckled, “We’d worry if you felt like anything else,” Chanyeol rolled his eyes, before looking at Sehun.
“Sorry I’m late,” He nodded while Sehun looked confused, Chanyeol seldomly apologised for… anything.
“It’s fine…” Sehun looked at his brothers, “Did stabbing you give you manners or something?”
“If that’s the case, I get to stab Baekhyun,” Kyungsoo smile slightly at the man in question, “Lord knows he could use it”
“I think my attitude is character building,” Baekhyun was offended for a second while Junmyeon cut in.
“Are you okay?” He asked Chanyeol.
“Yes,” Yeol sighed, “Just in a bit of pain that’s all, it’s nothing really”
“Well if that’s the case…” Junmyeon nodded to Sehun to continue.
“We’re discussing Friday,” Sehun confirmed, “That’s if you’re still coming,”
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Chanyeol smile tensely, “Is it on my schedule to get verbally abused by Mr Byun and his wife? Or do I just get jumped with that again,” Baekhyun pulled a face.
“Could be worse,” Jongdae hummed, “You could have to listen to Mr Kim’s all inspiring speeches again, solidarity is key remember?” Junmyeon chuckled faintly at that.
“Will your mother be there?” Baekhyun asked Sehun, who flicked is brows up faintly before answering, “Please say no,”
“Sadly, yes – She has things to discuss with me” He hummed.
The boys all pulled a face at that, the ex-gang mother wasn’t the most pleasant to be around; especially after her husband died, the hidden verbal lashing that Sehun got every time he saw her was enough to make any of the boys want to stay away. Mrs Oh had a clear vision from her husband how they wanted things in Exodus to run, and the current line-up of boys wasn’t exactly the best on delivering that, she lived about 4 hours away from the city which made their lives easier to deal with, but when she was here, lord, was she here.
“She’s not going to make us scrub this place again, is she?” Minseok flinched, “I don’t know if I can live with the smell of chemicals ingrained in my nose again.”
“My mother won’t be here this time, relax,” Sehun rolled his eyes, the woman had an affinity to use his brothers to the bone – especially the “adopted” ones, “She’s staying with the Byun’s for a few days, told her that it wasn’t worth travelling into the woods to stay here when she’d only have to travel back out.” He waved his hand slightly.
“Back to the matter at hand,” He sighed slightly, “Rooftop looks directly onto the ballroom, someone has to post up there otherwise whoever wants could take a clear aim in,”
“Post up two of my father’s security,” Baekhyun waved his hand slightly, “He owns that building so I doubt an attacker would try to break into that, considering its rife with security anyway.” “Two of your dad’s men then,” Sehun mumbled slightly, writing it down, “I think it goes without saying that I expect you all on your best behaviour, right?” He said again not looking up from the paper yet.
“This is an important night, and I expect the 6 of you to understand that,” Sehun said casually, “One mess up and its trouble, am I clear?”
“Just 6? Why not 8,” Baekhyun asked as the rest of his brothers sighed at once, telling him to shut up.
“Two of you don’t get on my nerves, I asked If I’m understood?” Sehun asked again.
“Crystal clear, sir.”
Walking around the nicer side of town might not have been your forte exactly, but you had to admit that Joohyun, regardless of the earlier talk, had made the day very enjoyable, even if she wouldn’t let you see the receipt of it all. The outfit and such were eventually forgotten as soon as it was bagged, the woman on a mission not very intent on spending her boss’s money to fulfil whatever need she had now. It had started with lunch at an upscale restaurant that you’d only seen businessmen and rich girls eating at, yourself and your newfound friend making fun of the menu whenever you could, making sure that Baekhyun fed you two the best- regardless of price.
It was fun, it was even fun when Joohyun decided it was now time to drag you around the stores she wanted to, her tiny body bursting with excitement as she found the things she wanted and tried them on in turn – her stature fitting into the world more than she gave it credit for, something you noted as you watched her try on a very expensive jacket that she just insisted on having.
She made the area seem normal to you, that the people here could have personalities beyond their bank accounts – while you understood clearly, she wasn’t from around here, if someone told for a second, that she was, you’d believe them wholeheartedly. Someone that like doesn’t just stumble into things like this.
Eventually, the day had to come to an end, when evening struck after getting dinner at a slightly less upscale restaurant in freight to spare Baekhyun his bank account, the two of you parted ways – thousands in bag expenditure in toll. It was a nice evening, especially considering it was now the end of October, the chill settling into the air as it belonged once again. It wasn’t exactly the easiest thing on your small apartment, considering the heating system tanked itself every winter without a fail – but it was something to live with, all the smalls things you noted as you hiked up the 5 floors to your apartment.
However, what you weren’t expecting was the shape of a hooded body standing outside your door; a male figure leaning up against the old wood like he was waiting for someone. Approaching closer, you let out a small breath as you managed to see a small tuff of blonde sticking out from under the black hoodie, a small smile passing your lips.
“Do you make a habit of camping outside of doors now?” You teased slightly as the figure jumped into action, spilling to face you in slight shock, “Or does being a doctor not give you enough gratification?”
“Maybe if you learned to answer your phone, you’d know I was here,” Jeonghan smiled slightly, holding up a bag and a few bottles, “I brought food,”
“I was out with a friend,” You chuckled softly nudging past him to open the door, the warmth from his body comforting as you wrestled with the wood to get open, “You’re dressed comfortable, day off?” You shoved the door open with a smile, nodding for him to go in before following.
“It’s not one of your… Criminal friends is it?” He frowned softly placing the stuff he brought on the coffee table, glancing at the bags in your hand with curiosity, “Yeah, it was my day off today…What are those?” He gestured to your bags.
“I didn’t peg you as a designer person,” You rolled your eyes as you walked to place them just in the entryway of your door, out of his sight.
“Someone from work, a girl named Joohyun,” You shook your head softly, flicking on the lights to your living room while he made himself comfortable, “And I’m not, it’s for… work,” You nodded rolling with your lie.
“Work requires a heavy price tag dress?” He raised his eyebrow at you while passing you various food items; Chinese food and booze, just want you needed after today, “I know you work at a nice club but I didn’t think it required 3k dresses,” He chuckled faintly passing you chopsticks.
“How do you know how much dresses there are,” You smirked faintly, breaking the chopsticks to tuck into the food he got you, “Or is that doctor perks? Attract some rich girls and have to hear all about it,” If he wanted to talk about it more, he decided to drop it instead.
“I don’t do rich girls,” He smirked softly leaning back into your couch with a small sigh, the tiredness of his job written on his face, “And I certainly don’t have time to date,” You laughed softly, tucking into your food.
“Don’t let them hear that, imagine the heartbreak?” You stifled a laugh, “The good doctor Yoon Jeonghan not on the market? The outcry,”
“I do not have the affect women that you think I have,” He laughed easily back at you, eating his food at your pace.
“Relatively tall, blonde, even if it's fake,” You winked, “Career, well mannered, funny, I’d say you were a steal,” He smiled faintly
“You’d know,” He hummed, looking at the table before tossing you a fortune cookie, “Open it” He nodded at it while you looked at him.
“Really, you force me to eat now you want to know my fortune too?” You smirked teasingly at him, “Admit it, sleeping all day doesn’t do it for you anymore,”
“Just open it,” He rolled his eyes, “And for your information, sleeping all day works fine but I’m a doctor, we don’t get that pleasure anymore.”
“Romance follows you if you can only see it,” You repeated to him while looking at the small slip of paper, “Oh and lottery numbers, think we can strike gold this time?” You went to smile at him, but he was already looking at you.
“Jeonghan?” You frowned softly, “What’s wrong.”
“There’s a reason I’m here,” He sighed softly, placing down his food, “It’s about the other day with… them.”
“Jeonghan we’ve been over this,” You sighed, “You were right in acting how you did, regardless if it was stupid – I sprung this on you and lied about who you were treating…”
“It’s not that,” He waved his hand and reached into his pocket, placing something on the table as your frown grew, “I found this in my locker at work.”
“I think someone is following me.”
Joohyun had managed to keep her word and found you the perfect outfit for the night, the dress you were being forced to wear fitting you like it was made for your as the black fabric caressed your body like a whisper of velvet. It was a picturesque floor-length gown clung beautifully to your torso and upper hips before falling naturally around your legs and to the grown; no pleating or draping was needed as the fabric fell and swayed with your natural shape – accentuated by a lower back and a bold silver exposed zipper, the shape and the thin straps at the shoulders spoke of its modernity while also holding strong to the type of event.
“Wow…” You breathed to yourself in the mirror, running your hands over the soft velvet that made your hips look goddess-like, your feet pushing into insanely high heels picked the end of the dress up just enough that only a small pool of fabric trailed as you walked, it was a work of modern art being worn.
Your décolleté was kept open, letting the skin being shown doing the taking - a thin diamond choker adorning your neck instead of chunky jewellery; the jewels so small that they glinted in the lights like glitter, with a thin matching bracelet and ring, you looked like you were worth more than the apartment you were standing it. A heavy wool coat was to be your small protection from the chill that was spilling outside, the item clutched in your hands along with your clutch as you waited by the door for your ride.
As promised, Baekhyun had a messaged passed onto you earlier reminding you that the car would be there at exactly 6:45 pm and no later, and while you stood looking at the clock in your entryway; that was confirmed as your door rattled softly at exactly 6:45 pm. It was hard to stop your hand shaking a little as you opened the wood, but you let out a small breath as the man on the other side.
“Your ride,” The man greeted you with a smile, his black hair looking much like the material of your dress as it fell over his forehead softly, “I’m Doyoung, I’ll be your chauffeur for tonight.” He nodded while gesturing to the hallway to get a move on.
“Pleasure,” You nodded softly, stepping out into the cold open balcony, quickly shuffling your coat on as you locked the door behind you, checking a few times to make sure it was closed before following the man – who was now waiting right next to the elevator, a small grimace passing on your face.
“Not a fan?” He asked, when you caught up to him, shuffling into the old thing with a sigh, his finger quick on pressing the button for the ground floor.
“Not exactly,” You hummed, the two of you looking extremely out of place in the rundown elevator; you in your dress and him in his suit, contrasting with the poverty of the place immensely.
The conversation between you was few and far between as he led you out to the car, your throat seizing slightly as you registered it as one of the cars that they kept in the compound; your brain remembering your escape with the gun that led you to blow out a few windows.
Doyoung was ever the gentleman as he opened the back door up for you, gesturing for you to get in; the leather of the seating warming to your body as he’d left the heating on to keep you comfortable. Night had settled onto the city early, with winter approaching fast, it was almost night to see the lights dance on the skylight by 5 pm, but you couldn’t appreciate them as the car started to take off, your fingers deftly buckling yourself in as you tried your best to relax.
“You’re nervous,” Doyoung commented after a few minutes of driving, glancing at you in the rear-view mirror.
“A bit,” You sighed looking out the window, watching the city get more and more expensive with each mile taken, “This isn’t exactly my scene,”
“You don’t say,” He hummed stopping at a light, “Well, when I left they were inviting the more important members in for pre-drinks, there’s gonna be a lot of people there – I’m sure you can blend into the background.” He assured you.
“But,” He continued before you could say anything, “It’s not every day Baekhyun asks me to pick someone up.” He smirked faintly, but there was no ill intent behind it.
“Guess this isn’t just your usual day then,” You gulped, swallowing the stomach bile that was threatening to creep out of your oesophagus any second.
“Guess it’s not,” He echoed to you.
The car went silent after that, the hum of the engine filling the void for a while – at least until you noticed that you were creeping closer and closer to the houses in the city that cost more than you could even imagine; their large yet still old detached building making a home in the bustle of lights and decay of a usual city. They were the diamonds in the rough, their millions coating the walls like paint and pebbles on their driveways.
“Byun City estate,” Doyoung confirmed as he began to pull up to the only house that had its gates open, the lights from the place causing a gentle yellow hue in the night sky.
The driveway was a bit extensive as Doyoung slowly followed a car that was in front of yours, but it still felt like time was moving faster than light at the door to the establishment crept closer and closer. Two very heavily armed guards standing at the old double doors, ready to weed the ones who weren’t supposed to be here out in seconds.
Your heart seized in your chest as the car came to a stop in front of the stairs, Doyoung quickly getting out to open your door for you; holding his hand out for you to take as your feel footing into the unknown began.
“Breathe,” He said quietly, hoisting you out the car as the stones underneath you created unstable ground.
The air felt crisp against your lungs as you took a moment to look around, the hair settling your stomach as the white curls spilling from your lips at your warmth met the cold air – it as a short-lived moment of peace however as Doyoung nudged you slightly to the door, another gulped passing down your throat as you ascended the stairs; the man who drove you falling back into the car to park it somewhere else.
The guards were sizing you up as you approached them, a glance at the foyer inside bustling with people and more of them were behind you getting out of their respective vehicles; this was a legit event. The guard closest to you was about to ask for your name when it was called out instead. The man of the untimely hour, walking closer to the doors to get a look at you as a stressed look settled into his eyes.
Byun Baekhyun. He was dressed a lot more formal than you’d seen him previously; his usual garb traded for a dark suit and tie, the black making the fact his hair was a shade of light brown looking all the nicer. It fitted him well, he wasn’t the tallest in the world, but the suit gave him an air that said regardless of height he was dangerous; something the guards noted at the broke formation slightly to let the man past. A sigh passing his lips as he approached you, his hand instantly resting on your back you were ushered into the place. He was quick in giving your jacket to a coat attendant while he was rushing you in.
“You’re late,” He grumbled, looking at his watch accusingly, “Its 7:02,” He looked down at you while he walked you in.
It wasn’t a fairy tale moment that people often made these things out to be, no one stopped to stare and no one gave a shit who walked in and you appreciated that more than anything; people stopped to star at Baekhyun but that’s only because they probably have the information that this was his family home.
“I wasn’t aware that it was dire time?” You frowned softly while looking at everything you could. The black, white, and cream decorations looking fantastic in the grand foyer; the checkboard floor one of the key pieces while Baekhyun led you around to another set of double doors, “You look nice,” You grudgingly added on.
“I saved you the issue of listening to pointless speeches,” He flicked his eyebrows up slightly, “You could at least make it here a bit quicker.”
The doors opened into what you could only describe as a grand ballroom, the checkerboard pattered from the foyer carrying into the room beautifully; it was lined with numerous windows that let the nigh time in like a dream, the warm lights glinting off of every polish surface. Holding the room together was a series of roman pillars that kept the up the stairs in its places; the only way to get there is a grand staircase that was off to the side of the room. You would have caught a glimpse at the people on the stairs if Baekhyun hadn’t tugged you to the furthest away he could manage.
“I know what you’re doing,” He fake smiled at someone the two of you passed, his hand still firmly on your lower back, “He’s busy, look later.”
“Where are you taking me,” You hissed back, glancing up at him.
“To your babysitter for the night,” He said collectedly, “I refuse to let you embarrass yourself under my name,”
“I am 22, I know social cues,” You huffed quietly at him.
“Knowing social cues is not gawking at the décor like you’ve never seen it before,” Baekhyun mumbled back, before grinning at someone in passing again.
“Then who the hell is my babysitter?” You asked him quietly, trying to smile at the people looking at the two of you.
Wrapping his arm around you to pull you up next to him, Baekhyun grinned briefly before gesturing.
Chanyeol.
“He is,” Baekhyun smiled tensely, “Now we know this isn’t his first job at this.”
“Baekhyun?” Chanyeol rolled his eyes, suited up much like the man her was referring to was.
“Hi, Chanyeol,” You smiled at him, looking a lot better than the last time you saw him, “You clean up nice, even if you have a fire truck on your head.” You chuckled softly while a ghost of a smile came on his mouth.
“Great, now that we know this is going to work lovely,” Baekhyun pushed you into Chanyeol, your feet barely stumping before you were caught by the taller man, “I’ve got a meltdown to avoid, go dance with her while I do that.” Looking up you noticed Chanyeol rolling his eyes.
“He is…” You watched his quick walk away, ducking away from a man that looked scarily like him before turning back to Chanyeol, “Is he okay?”
“Is he ever?” Chanyeol straightened you out, watching where the man was walking before turning to you with a slight smile, “You look good, you clean up well.”
“Can’t exactly look like a measly bartender here, can I?” You smirked softly, something he chuckled at.
“Don’t think that would go down with anyone here,” He gestured to the servers that were handing out flutes of champagne, “Or you’d be in a doing that.”
“Rich people,” You mumbled slightly, passing a smile at one of the workers, “This doesn’t seem as bad as I thought,”
“You’ve not been here that long,” Chanyeol rolled his eyes, “You missed the boring speeches, and having to deal with the families,”
“That bad?” You frowned softly, something he took your arm to and turned you around to look at all the people; a mixture of them dancing to the music that was playing and a mixture of them conversing, turning you slightly you watched as Chanyeol leaned down as whispered to you.
“Stairs at 2 o’clock,” He mumbled as your eyes flicked to them, getting the shape of Sehun standing on the stairs with a much older woman beside him; her face familiar.
“Mrs Oh,” Chanyeol confirmed, “Has kicked off 3 times since she got here, has been in the office all day ranting about things.” Adjusting you again, he pointed to where Baekhyun had headed; the man in question standing with two other men and woman, only two of them looking scarily like him.
“Baekhyun’s family,” Chanyeol confirmed, “I don’t bother myself with them, none of them like me, but they do love to berate him…”
“Things aren’t always what you hear, you need to take time to look around sometimes,” Chanyeol confirmed slightly.
“That’s poetic coming from you,” You hummed, looking around before pointing at Jeonghwa and Yixing, “Who pissed her off?” You asked.
“Who do you think?” Chanyeol’s chest rumbled from behind you, “He’s standing on the stairs looking like he’s ready to throw himself off them.” You shook your head slightly.
“And how are you feeling?” You asked, “My eyes tell me one thing, but I’ve heard something else”
“Dance with me first,” You could hear a smile in his voice, “And then maybe I’ll feel inclined to talk about myself.”
“Lead the way”, Turning around instantly you held your hand out to him with a nod and a smile.
He merely just faintly smiled before he tugged you towards the space that was meant for dancing – couples of all sorts dancing to the music that was gently playing from the speakers, orchestral but with somewhat of a modern flair. Chanyeol wasted no time, grabbing your other hand he settled the two of you into position, just off the main throng of people; Your hand was delicately placed on his shoulder while he grasped the other one in his hand, his sliding onto your waist – it was intimate enough for conversation but there was still a respectful distance.
“Will you tell me now?” You looked up at him to ask, while he looked over your head, taking everything in, “Or were you just respecting Baekhyun’s orders.”
“What’s a party if you stay in a corner all night?” He asked, “But to answer your question, I’m fine – the wound is healing nicely, thanks to you.”
“Thanks to Jeonghan,” You corrected him, “He done the stitching I merely just gave you some blankets,” He shrugged softly at the two of you danced slowly around the area you permitted yourself to.
“It’s the thought that counts,” He hummed.
“Would it kill you to just thank someone for once?” You raised an eyebrow at him, as he looked down at you briefly before looking away.
“I don’t like him,” Chanyeol stated, “Am I not allowed to do that?” You chuckled in disbelief.
“You don’t know him,” You smiled incredulously, “He done you a favour.”
“Do you like everyone you meet?” He asked you simply, “Is that part of the peppy package?”
“I’m not peppy,” You stated with a huff, looking around at the people around you, “I just give people chances.”
“But how many?” He countered you, “How many chances?”
“Enough to prove their worth,” You frowned at him, “God knows I’ve given you too many.” He smirked at that.
“And I gave your little boy toy a chance, he blew it,” Chanyeol announced, “I only do one, too many and well… You’re asking to get hurt.”
“He’d never hurt me, or you,” You raised an eyebrow at him, “He’s a doctor for god’s sake” He has an amused look on his face as the dance took you both into turning around, his head gesturing faintly to an older man who was by one of the pillars; his cheeks already reddened with the drink.
“Anyone can hurt anyone,” Chanyeol shrugged while there was a beat of silence.
“That man over there is a doctor,” Chanyeol stated, “Do you think he’d ever hurt someone?”
“I’d hope not,” You frowned, “But we’re also at a gang party,” You lowered your voice slightly.
“Ding, we have a winner,” He chuckled, “Profession doesn’t equal good, also doesn’t always equal bad, from what I know that man loves to get his hands dirty.”
“What’s your point,” You rolled your eyes, “What has this got to do with you not trusting Jeonghan?”
“What I’m saying, is that because you know someone doesn’t mean you know them, anyone can hurt you,” He chuckled faintly, “I gave your doctor a chance and saw something you don’t see,”
“Well, what did you see,” You frowned again.
“Something you’ll see in due time,” He nodded at someone who passed him.
“What is it will all of you and being fucking cryptic,” You mumbled, “Why can’t you just say what you mean.”
“There’s no fun in that,” Chanyeol snickered, “Then everyone knows what you’re talking about.”
“Fine, I have another question,” You threw your eyes back, “Who’s Yoora?”
“Oh, that’s how she’s playing,” He hummed, “Why do you want to know?”
“You called me that,” His jaw tensed slightly, “That night after you were stabbed before you passed out - so who is she?”
“My sister,” He licked his lips glancing down at you briefly, “Older.”
“Hmm...” You hummed, “So if I’m right, taking into consideration what Baekhyun said about you being miserable – you’re upset about more than a stab wound.”
“Me calling you her doesn’t mean anything,” He deflected with an eye-roll, “Blood loss makes us do funny things.”
“But you were thinking about her,” You countered.
“Is it a crime to think about your family?” He frowned slightly, “God imagine the prisons if that was the case,”
“It’s not a crime to think about your family, but adding onto everything else,” You thought carefully, “And the fact you haven’t seen her for nearly ten years, I’d page a guess something’s happened, am I wrong?” You smiled up at him, his own eyes giving you an unamused look.
“I believe that’s none of your business,” He said while spinning you around. “Just why are you here exactly?”
“I was invited,” You grinned.
“Whose smart idea was that?” He rolled his eyes but before he could pull you back in, you saw a hand rest over Chanyeol’s bicep stopping the movement.
“Mine,” Baekhyun said with a tense smile, “Mind if I cut in?” Chanyeol frowned slightly but stepped away, gesturing for him to take his spot.
“Nice dancing with you,” Chanyeol smile slightly at you, moving away to give his brother room.
“This isn’t over,” You countered while he walked away with a slight chuckle, but the jovial nature didn’t last long as Baekhyun tugged you towards him – the dancing style very different considering he was closer to your height.
“I thought Chanyeol was my babysitter,” You asked quietly noticing the tense air of the man, “Or is something wrong.”
“You’re good at reading people,” He spoke just as quiet as you, tugging you a bit closer to hear you, “Let’s just say I needed a small escape plan.”
“Family issues?” You asked, locking eyes with him.
“Something like that,” He sighed.
“Well…Do you want to talk about it?” You asked carefully, “You did come over here to me,”
“Not particularly,” Baekhyun’s mouth tightened slightly.
Sighing, you let the dance move into silence as he led you around, he was quite the dancer but your eyes were too busy drifting to be able to pay too much attention to it – instead of focusing on the pair dancing a few feet away; Sehun and Jeonghwa.
“I thought they were mad at each other,” You nodded slightly to them as Baekhyun’s head turned with a slight smirk.
“They’re always mad at each other,” He said, “It’s just part of their relationship.”
“Relationship,” You echoed slightly, “Some relationship.”
“Is the green-eyed monster knocking at your door?” He smirked again to which you rolled your eyes at.
“I don’t know him enough to be jealous,” You sighed, “Why does everyone keep assuming that.”
“Because no one looks at Oh Sehun with puppy eyes,” Baekhyun retorted, “People look at him with respect, fear, hate – but not lovesick puppy eyes.”
“But Jeonghwa-,” He cut you off.
“Jeonghwa looks at him like a task she needs to accomplish,” He stated looking over you, “I don’t think that woman has a romantic bone in her body.”
“But…” He started with a sarcastic edge, “I don’t often know people that fall for their kidnappers, is Stockholm Syndrome all the rage?”
“It’s not-,” He cut you off again, pulling you closer with a wicked smirk.
“In another world, I imagine the two of you would make quite the couple...” Baekhyun hummed, an air of severity dripping into the word, “But sadly this is our reality, and frankly... the future of it is being switched from a promise to a threat with you around.”
“So whatever idea’s you stored in your little head about how this all ends? It needs to stop,” He hissed softly, making it look like the two of you were just having a polite conversation. “This won’t end well for you.”
“Do you often lash out at people to deflect from your own problems?” You raised an eyebrow a him, “Does cutting someone else down for a second make you feel a fraction better about everything around you.”
“I enjoy watching the light in people’s eyes die,” He said sarcastically, “What can I say.”
“I don’t have any ideas about anything, Baekhyun,” You stated firmly, “I am here like you asked me to be, that’s it – after today it’ll never see any of you again besides work, sound good?”
“Sound’s perfect.” He hummed straightening back up.
The dance and the conversation trailed off to a finish the song started to die back down, a few people clapping slightly as the orchestra finished their piece; only a brief second passing before they started back up – Baekhyun being quick to release you, the people around you started to part, a figure emerging from the crowds.
Parting the crowds like the red sea was Sehun, fitted in a suit much more formal than his usual ones; the black fabric clinging to him in a way that let your mouth feeling a lot drier than it had done before; his hair that was usually pushed away from his face was parted off to the side with the front section only being slightly pushed away, the inky tresses falling around his forehead like ribbons of silk.
“Boss,” Baekhyun nodded slightly, glancing between you two, “What do I owe the pleasure.”
“Your brother is asking for you,” Sehun announced, nodding at you with a smile, “Taking care of our guest well?”
“Quite well,” Baekhyun edgily smiled, “If you’ll excuse me.”
“Excused,” Sehun smirked softly, making room for the walking man before turning to you, “Everything to your standard?”
“I don’t think my standard matters all that much,” You nodded slightly.
“Nonsense,” He chuckled faintly, “You’re probably one of the few people here that’s never seen this before, I’d like to know if we’re doing a good job.”
“It’s very nice, Sehun,” His name felt like sand in your mouth, “If you’ll excuse me, I do believe I had a conversation with someone to finished.” You said as you attempted to walk past him, but you jumped slightly as his hand caught your arm in a loose grip, tugged you back.
“Dance with me,” He stated, as you opened your mouth in slight shock.
“I think I’ve had enough, for now, you’re probably busy,” You explained as people started looking at the two of you.
“I wouldn’t ask otherwise,” He smiled easily at you, it was faint, but it was there. Sighing deeply, you nodded. Letting him take your hand and drag you back to him to get into position, only this time you were aware of where he was touching you as the two of you took off.
He was gazing down at you now, a vague sense of amusement dancing in his eyes; your own eyes barely managing to keep focused at the warm of his hand sitting casually on your waist; it was beautifully distracting. The moment felt more surreal than it was, the music feeling like it caressed one ear and went straight back out the other as the two of you moved calmly to it, your heart in time with your steps magically; gliding across the floor with no care.
“You’re better at this than I thought” He hummed, plucking his eyes away from yours to peer over your head, the warmth of his breath hitting your forehead softly, he was closer than the other two, as he spoke, “Maybe you’re made for these sorts of things.” You scoffed at that.
“You don’t know me that well,” He was close enough to the point his aftershave was making a home in your senses, “I actually can think of a million other things I’d rather be doing right now.” He chuckled at that.
“I don’t know you that well,” He repeated with a smirk, “But I can tell you’re an excellent liar,” His eye’s flicked down at yours again briefly as his voice lowered to a tone only, you’d hear.
“We need those sorts of people around here.” He tutted softly.
“I’m not a liar,” You pursed your lips softly, “And I’m not joining your little… club” You raised an eyebrow at him as you looked up at him, his face very much looking down at you as your forehead brushed his nose.
“See that’s where you’re wrong, you are a liar, and a bold-faced one at that,” He smirked softly, “And I don’t think you’re cut out for my little…club” He mimicked you.
“How am I the liar?” You sniped at him while he chuckled, "When you're right here?"
“It’s in your eyes,” He stated, “You’re lying about something, and a part of me wants to know what that is.”
“You don’t need to know everything,” You countered him, “I’m nothing to do with you.”
“You’re at my party,” He hummed, “You also work at my bar, I’d say that’s pretty involved.”
“But why is that?” You caught his eye as you stared him down, “Why do I work for you? why am I here? I have just as many questions as you.” He tittered at that.
“Why do you think I’m the only one involved? And I told you why you’re working for me, or did you forget our little car ride?” He chuckled pulling you a bit closer, “You’re so full of questions but you don’t have the backbone to ask them.”
“I do have a backbone,” You looked away from him, “For normal people things, like making sure I get an order right or getting a refund – not dealing with people like you.”
“Am I not a normal person?” He asked, “I thought the term normal was relative?”
“You’re insufferable,” You scoffed, “Why does everyone here dance around their words?”
“Because if anyone tells you what they mean, they’ll have to kill you,” He stated simply.
“See, that’s not normal,” You gulped softly, “None of this is.”
“To you,” Sehun countered, “I think this is perfectly normal,”
“The world doesn’t revolve around you,” You rolled your eyes at him.
“My world does,” He smirked at you as he held your gaze, looking around your face for a second while it softened.
His eyes were like barrels of warm whiskey if you caught them in the right light, but the intensity came from the fact that Sehun had a knack for looking at you like he was trying to peel back every layer of you in mere seconds and without words. It was charming to see someone want to figure out something they couldn’t understand, to have that attention on you for long enough to know that they were really looking at you.
“You look beautiful,” He said quietly, “I haven’t said that to you yet.”
“You look good yourself,” you gulped softly as you looked back at him, remembering every little thing that made him…Him.
“I wasn’t lying,” He said quietly, “You do fit in here – even if it doesn’t feel like it, most people would have bailed at the door.”
“I was asked to be here so I am,” You nodded slightly, “Least I could do I guess…”
“Baekhyun talked to me about the meddling,” He hummed slightly, “Apologies, I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again, I said that to you before…”
“Who sent the invitation?” You frowned softly, his eyes flicking to the small crease on your eyebrows as you did.
“Faintest clue…” He sighed, his eyes a bit more unreadable, “But does it matter now? You’re here”
“Yes, I am…” You said quietly, focusing back on the dance.
The two of you went back to dancing quietly as you mentally evaluated the situation, it was comfortable to be this close to him surprisingly – it almost felt right to be the person dancing with him, and that was dangerous. His chest was directly in your eyesight as you tried to focus on anything else but your dance partner, but he was insistent on talking.
“You don’t make a lot of eye contact, do you?” He asked casually, releasing your waist slightly to tip your eyes up to meet his, his fingers holding your chin, “I’m no formal dancer but eye contact is a given”
“You’re tall,” You weakly said to try and simmer the conversation down, but he merely frowned using that same hand to move your hair away from your neck slightly – his warm palm resting on your neck as your eyes widened.
“What are you doing-,” You started.
“Shit.” He cut you off with a swear
The world around you blurred for a second, the feeling of his hand on your neck tossing you off to the side with him sending your mind into a spin as the sound of shattering glass suddenly filled the ballroom – the music cutting out fast. You could feel your face forced against Sehun’s as the man let out a pained grunt after the sound of something thudding into flesh filled your ears as well.
The cool feeling of marble against your back sent a chill down your spine as the sound of another thud landed close to you again, the shattering of windows and screams echoing around the room as a replacement for the music. It felt like a lifetime before Sehun peeled back from you, his breath a bit more haggard than before while your eyes adjusted to the sudden light, you neck barely making it to look up at him. He was gritting his teeth, his left arm placed above your head to brace himself on the wall while the other was still around your waist in a tight fashion. The sounds of bullets hitting marble floors sending awful pangs into the air.
“You need to leave.” He hissed out, glancing down at you while you looked around his torso to see what was causing him discomfort, pushing his jacket back on his left shoulder - you gasped, your hand leaving wet as a giant red stain formed around his pectoral.
“Sehun you’re-,” You gasped out, but he moved his chest away with a slight wheeze.
“I said you need to go,” He snapped looking down at you, the fire and pain clear in his eyes – He gulped slightly before pushing himself off you, a hiss passing through his teeth as he ducked again from a bullet that hit the pillar, a dusting of marble raining down on your head as you both ducked.
“But you…” You stuttered softly, frightened out your mind.
“Taeyong.” Sehun snapped as someone came skidding over, a small mind with intense eyes stopping next to you.
You didn’t even get to hear what he said before you were shoved into the man’s arms his lithe body catching you with a grunt as Sehun barked orders at him.
“Get her and anyone else out of here, now.” Taeyong merely nodded as you shrugged in his grip – the sounds of bullets still echoing with the constant yells of men barking orders.
“Wait, you idiot.” You yelled slightly, “You’re the one bleeding.”
“Taeyong.” Sehun snapped ducking again, “Do your job, now.”
“Yes boss,” His voice was surprisingly level while he took you away, your heels scraping on the floor as you tried to escape on your own.
For once in your life, you called out the name you never thought you would.
“Sehun.”

: prologue
>>>First<<<
Loud screeching was what woke you up. Thundering of footsteps down the corridor made you groan and turn in bed because for god's sake, it was Saturday morning and they just had to be loud at 10am!
Your roommate, lying in the bed just four feet next to yours, stirred awake too, though considering her eyes were fully open, she must have been up for a while now. “I’m glad it’s them waking you up and not me.”
You sighed and managed to smile but you were tired. Life in dormitories sucked, but yours even more so since you were assigned probably the worst dorms in the campus. Having to share bathroom and shower rooms made you leave your comfort zone. But finding toilets in the terrible state you did just purely horrified you. Why weren’t some girls flushing the toilets?!
“You know very well I won’t kill you if you wake me up, Yuyeon-ah,” you mumbled, your voice hoarse. Having Yuyeon as your roommate was the only positive aspect of the dorm life. Some would argue it’s the most important one but you were selfish and you wished you had a private bathroom like the other, more advanced, dorms had. There wasn’t even a kitchen where you could cook your ramyeon deliciously!
“Doubtful,” muttered Yuyeon, amused, and she moved to sit up and start her morning routine while you decided to lie around for just a little bit longer.
Working tirelessly many evenings made you tired and the exhaustion always caught up with you during weekends, where, frankly, you didn't have work. Also, it being the beginning of your second semester, the tension and stress were on but you decided you wouldn't let it affect you too much. You have had enough stress in your entire life and you swore you would become your usual cheerful self.
And you had been, indeed, working on it. But that meant getting over, and hopefully, forgetting everything that happened almost one year ago. Your brother was still in prison and your family, terribly disappointed and in pure shock at what had become of your brother (plus your underage drinking fiasco), you all decided it would be better for you to move to the dorms for the time being. Another story was forgetting about the person who was behind the entire turn-over of your life.
Byun Baekhyun.
You never saw him after that one time he came to your high school. In that moment, you were numb, paralyzed and it hurt to see him. He dared to act like he cared. But over the time, you grew hate towards him. A hate that was weirdly combined with some emotions you really didn't want to pay too much attention to, because they were all based on a fake relationship. A relationship, that was something so beautiful, just for it to end up becoming a complete nightmare. A trauma. A terrible trust issue that you might never be able to get rid of.
It was safe to say that you, Lee Nari, would rather spit at Byun Baekhyun than ever start a conversation with him let alone acknowledge his presence were you to meet him. Not that you were expecting to meet him. After all, you had been incredibly careful - especially around Oh Sehun - in avoiding him by never-ever-ever-ever even coming as much as close to the street where the main Bucheon Police Station was located (but too bad for you; it was literally in downtown Bucheon) and even if you had to cross it, you whined and had to be dragged by your wrist (by Yuyeon). On the good side, there was never a chance for you to cross his apartment building as he lived in a different neighborhood. So that was, thankfully, out of the possible trouble inducing locations’s list.
But still, you couldn't help feeling anxious about spotting him somewhere. The first few months, you might have been looking around with too much hope, wanting to see his real self instead of the ogling at the few photos you had together stored in your phone. Just one glance of his eyes, nose, lips was what you wanted; it was maddening.
Then the flashes of that day came back, ruining every sweet memory, every sweet touch of his engraved into your skin, every stroke of his lips - it all vanished, instead morphing into his stern, burning gaze of which you were on the receiving side. The way he blamed you, the way he wanted to arrest you, and then the way he wouldn't let even your own mother hit you yet he gave you the harshest of punches… The moment of you overhearing his conversation with his tall colleague (you already forgot his name) until your entire world crashed on you. He lied. He never liked you. He never wanted a real relationship with you. He used you to get to you. Byun Baekhyun wanted to arrest you and then he arrested your brother and smashed your heart into tiny pieces. How could you ever recover?
“What, you're not getting up?” shrieked Yuyeon when she came back from the bathrooms, towel hanging around her neck. “The results of the votes are today so you better get up and prepare. You're the school's star, missy,” she grumbled and went over to her table, continuing her complex skin-care routine.
Right.
The way to get over Byun Baekhyun was to live and you could do that thanks to your friends.
Pfft, you had places to be. Forget about Byun Baekhyun.
><
Because of your communications major, you somehow ended up in the university’s student council. You were representing your school year but it was still unclear how the hell you managed to win over more than half of your classmates when all you ever did was hide or be with Yuyeon.
You entered Bucheon University with pretty damaged self-esteem, your cheerful self still recovering from the scandal. However, despite always doing something mischievous with Yuyeon neither of you had a huge circle of friends. It was only natural that the two of you did everything together. Even now, it was mostly you and her, plus Sehun and some other friends. Unfortunately to you, many males voted because of the nature of your chest. The quiet girl with huuuge boobs, they were saying with hushed voices.
“Don’t pay attention to them, it’s you winning at the end of the day,” advised Yuyeon at the time.
So when the both of you waltzed into the seminar room with a round table in the middle and took seats (Yuyeon was there for your moral support), you could only glare at one senior who was sitting opposite you, his eyebrows wiggling as he shamelessly drunk in your chest which was, as per usual, hidden under an L-sized hoodie. It seemed you could never escape.
When the president of the student council, Chul, appeared you all stood up and bowed to him respectfully even though he was a student just like you. He was the oldest though.
To your surprise, he walked straight over to your chair, throwing a charming smile at Yuyeon, who let out a quiet scoff in return, before leaning down to whisper in your ear, not forgetting to touch your shoulder gently: “May I have a chat with you? It’s rather private.”
When he leaned away, you blinked twice but nodded and followed him outside for a moment. You could hear whispers erupting after you left though you paid no attention to them.
“What is it, Chul?” you asked, crossing your arms over your chest. Chul was one of the very few who never got distracted by it and you were thankful. He helped you a lot in your first semester, like finding you a job and teaching you how to drive a scooter so that you could easily do the deliveries while introducing you to some other interesting people on the campus.
“So about the spring festival - I have two things,” he started, his gaze set on your eyes, always making sure he reciprocated the eye contact. “First, you are taking part in the relay running for our team with representatives. Second, you have been requested as the MC-“
Before he could finish, you sighed holding out your hand to stop him, feeling the nerves kick in, not even paying attention to the first news. “Those votes aren’t even valid. They are all mocking me, Chul. Besides, I don’t wanna do it.”
Chul let you finish, patiently nodding. “Well, hence me stealing you from the meeting.”
“What do you mean?”
“You’ve been requested,” he repeated, emphasizing the last word, “by our main star.”
“I thought we haven’t heard back from the agencies yet?” you asked. You’d written countless emails to various agencies, asking for special famous idols of theirs. To your utter distaste, it also included Siamsa but you couldn’t tell anyone you knew what an annoying, fake bitch she was.
He shrugged. “Well, we heard back from a couple. Siamsa agreed to be the main star of the festival under one condition,” he murmured, lowering his voice. He pointed his index finger at you. “If you’ll do the MCing for her.”
That left you speechless. That delusional woman wanted what now?! “I don’t want to, Chul,” you shook your head, frowning.
It made you wonder why you were getting nervous in the first place. Was it because of her status and having to stand in front of your entire school or was it because of the connection you both shared and that was Byun Baekhyun? Just the idea of having to face her and having to be reminded that she dated your ex made you weirdly sick in your stomach.
He sighed, scratching his neck. “I’m sorry, Nari, but I’m afraid I’m gonna want you to accept it. She is the hottest idol out there and everyone wants her the most. Imagine the attention our university - and especially us, the school council, could bring in. Don’t let us down,” he added gently, though you could sense authority in his voice. Chul was always fair, you had to admit. He never asked you to do anything that made you uncomfortable, never asked you the reason for your reluctance in the past but now he insisted and it showed in his intense gaze.
“I’ll help you with the preparations,” he added, smiling encouragingly. “You’re much more outspoken and talented than you give yourself credit for, so I’m sure you’ll be a star just like Siamsa.”
Well, he really didn’t have to say that last sentence. If there was someone you wanted to be like, it was your good old self. Of course you had more talent, after all you were the big-mouthed one.
Chul patiently waited, seeing that you were mulling over the options. When you looked up at him, you slowly nodded while hating yourself. “Fine. I’ll do it. But-” you stopped him from smiling widely, “what happened with the original voting? Who won?”
“Obviously, you.”
You shook your head quickly. “But I mean who is the actual winner?”
“Not important,” he muttered, brushing past you. “Let's head back inside. Not everyone has the time to sit around waiting on a Saturday.”
><
Once the meeting was over, you couldn't wait to spill the news to Yuyeon but needed to wait until lunch time, when you would meet Oh Sehun. You had sent him a text earlier asking if he was still grabbing lunch with you and Yuyeon (secretly you were writing these messages for obvious reasons - you couldn't risk he would be with Baekhyun). Since he had agreed, you and Yuyeon were speed-walking to the cafeteria, both of you hungry.
Once sat down and joined by the tall friend, you looked around varily just to make sure he really came alone.
Sehun sighed, tired with your dramatics. “I'm alone, Nari,” he rolled his eyes as he was mixing his tuna bibimbap. “And now spill. The both of you have been acting like rabbits on energy drinks.”
Shooting him a frown, you still rambled away for ten minutes, telling them what had happened. Yuyeon knew about Siamsa and your past experience with her and Sehun also knew the vital triangle connection of Siamsa, Baekhyun and you. He still seemed shocked and even uncomfortable when he heard your entire story.
“What made her request you?” he asked after he swallowed a big chunk of food. “I mean - does she even know your name? Your university?”
“And you literally met her a year ago,” added fervently Yuyeon, deep frown wrinkling her forehead.
Just like your friends, you also had many questions but no answers. Mulling over various possibilities, Sehun finally spoke up: “Should I ask Baek-”
“No.” Your answer was abrupt, but cold, empty and harsh to which Sehun winced the slightest bit. Even hearing his name made your heart race fast and hence the sudden cold behavior. Sehun knew you as a cheerful, kind girl so seeing you being affected by his friend to this extent made him quite perplexed but nothing he wasn’t used to by now. It was his fault; he should have known better than to bring him up.
Yuyeon shot you an unsure look but this time, you ignored it, focusing on shoving around the rice in the steel bowl with the spoon.
“You should have declined,” tried Yuyeon.
“I did decline,” you answered eagerly. “I feel like that bitch might have something up her sleeve. If she does, I should be ready.”
Sehun was flicking his gaze between you and Yuyeon, thinking over your words. Surely, things you didn't know about could hardly hurt you, right?
After lunch, Sehun bid his goodbyes to you.
“Where are you off to?” you pouted, looking up at him with puppy eyes. “It’s Saturday, let’s do something fun!”
“I’m going to the running tracks today with my friend,” answered Sehun and ruffled your hair in amusement to which you pulled back and away from his sneaky hand. “Maybe later, hm? I bet you’re gonna do something with the student council anyway.”
“You and your running, aish!” grumbled Yuyeon. “Go, go, we don’t need you anyway.”
“Don’t get into trouble!” Shouted Sehun as he turned to walk towards the gymnasium and the track field. He waved one more time before he had his broad back on you.
You scoffed and grabbed Yuyeon’s hand, yanking her towards the dorms. “Well, making trouble has been more challenging since we are old enough to do trouble,” you exclaimed, jumping a few times to make Yuyeon walk faster. She whined and tried to pull away but your grip tightened and you snickered. “But that doesn’t mean we still can’t go and have fun tonight!”
><
“Let’s do one more round.”
“Hyung,” groaned Sehun tiredly, feeling the sweat dripping down the sides of his face. “Enough.”
“One more.” Byun Baekhyun shook his head once before he took off for another round. “Losers will keep losing!” he shouted with a cheeky, handsome smile, running backwards for a bit to check on Sehun and when he saw the tall male run after him in challenge, he snickered and turned back, dashing off into a sprint.
It’d been like this for almost a year. Baekhyun was always a gym buddy with Sehun but in the past eleven months, Sehun became a small, indirect punching back. Whether it was because he suddenly became a mutual friend with a certain someone or whether it was a punishment for being there that night with her, he didn’t know. He didn’t want to know.
One thing he surely did know was that running helped him ease his mind and relax, maybe make him feel a little bit more numb like he so wished to be.
Getting rid of any intruding thoughts of Lee Nari was difficult. He felt sorry for her, the victim of his job. Fooling around with a young girl was not his plan but he knew he did it for the better good. He tried to persuade himself that he did it for the better good while pushing back the need to search for her and make sure she was doing alright.
As he was nearing the finish line, Sehun caught up with him and they both jogged towards their bags nearby the tracks to freshen up. Sehun was heaving like a parched horse which made Baekhyun chuckle as he reached for two bottles, throwing one to his friend.
“Cheers,” exhaled Sehun harshly and quickly opened the bottle, gulping down the needed liquid.
Baekhyun hummed in reply and waited for his heartbeat to calm down before he would have a sip. “How’s everything?” he decided to ask. “The new semester just started.”
Sehun swallowed and closed the bottle. “It’s just the first week. You know the drill - introductions and boring stuff.”
“Nothing interesting happened then?” Baekhyun was very subtle in hints. Sehun was, thankfully, quick-witted.
“We will have the university festival in May,” he replied with the slightest of smirks on his face. “Siamsa is confirmed to perform.”
Baekhyun wasn’t looking at Sehun and even the information he just heard wasn’t worthy enough to make him pay attention. “Cool. She is an artist after all.” He noticed some girls approaching the track and he felt a small tinge of dissatisfaction. He really liked when the track was only his.
“One of my friends will be the MC. Actually, guess what! Siamsa made a special request. Funny, right? In what universe does a singer of her caliber ask for a mere first year student?”
Baekhyun snapped his head to Sehun. “Why?”
Sehun shrugged. “We don’t know why she wanted her out of everyone... though-“ Sehun pulled a thinking face. “It might have something to do with you.”
Baekhyun sighed, already feeling tired. “I don’t like that one bit. Siamsa is sneaky.”
Sehun nodded. “She didn’t want to do it but her senior kind of ordered her. So I guess she doesn’t have another choice.”
“What kind of senior is that if he makes her do stuff against her will?” huffed Baekhyun, his hands on his hips. “Isn’t he supposed to be there to support her?”
“Well, yeah. He did a lot for her so she feels like she has to do it.” Sehun decided to not share any more than that despite sensing Baekhyun’s questioning stare. He knew Baekhyun wanted to know what that “a lot” meant.
When Baekhyun knew he wouldn’t be getting more out of Sehun, he sighed and tapped his shoulder. “Thanks for telling me.” He moved to grab his bag from the floor when Sehun stopped him.
“Hyung.”
Baekhyun raised his eyebrows in question, waiting.
Sehun opened his mouth but then ended up closing it. Baekhyun was a tough nut to crack. It was obvious he was always interested in Nari’s well-being but him pretending not to do so was frustrating.
“I think-“ he re-started, remembering Nari’s emotionless face when he mentioned Baekhyun earlier that day. He opened his mouth to talk but Baekhyun was faster:
“I think it is better to leave everything up to her, Sehun. She is a smart young woman. If anyone can do well, it is Lee Nari. After all, she is finally able to do everything she was pretending to be doing.”
Sehun snorted a laugh, mockingly rolling his eyes. “And since when did you become so-ugh, respectful about that? Nari is stubborn and doesn't know anything about life.”
“It is none of my concern, Sehun,” replied quietly Baekhyun, looking somewhere off in the distance. “But I know she is stronger than you give her credit for.”
“She might hate you and she might not be over what happened between you two-”
“I locked up her brother,” gritted Baekhyun, “and before that, I wanted to lock her up. What makes you think there is any way for both of us to function normally even if we do meet?”
Sehun sighed. It was difficult to communicate with the both of them. Yes, they were both hurt but goddamn it. Anyone could know they cared for each other.
Baekhyun sensed Sehun's dilemma and so he stepped to the taller male and gave him a curt smile. “Don't push it, Sehun. She will be fine.”
><
Sweat was gradually collecting around your hairline until it turned into one huge tear drop travelling down the side of your face. The text message was as clear as the night sky.
Unknown number
drop it at the 1047 unit
top floor
“It's impossible,” you muttered, feeling yourself becoming nervous. You were standing in front of 1047 and it was definitely not the top floor. It was the first floor, just like the first number indicated.
Gnawing at your bottom lip, you raked your head about possible connections you could contact when you couldn't deliver the boxes as you were supposed to. There was never a responsible person, only an unknown number sending you messages with the quest and a requirement to always be careful (you supposed the carefulness was concerning the boxes). You would receive a confirmation message when the box was in safe hands. That was it. No unnecessary contracts; just you and the job at hand.
You tried calling Chul, you senior. After all, he was the one who fetched you the job but even he wasn't available at that moment.
When you were just about to lose your mind, your phone rang making you almost drop the box. Thank god for your reflexes. “H-hello? Chul?”
“Hey, what's up?” he chirped.
You told him quickly your problem but you weren't expecting his light voice to become more serious. “You can't find the place? Are you sure you are in the right building- shit, the time is almost up. I'll be there right now:”
Heaving out a breath, you checked your wrist watch. The box was supposed to be delivered within fifteen minutes. How would Chul make it in time for you, you weren't sure but you soon found out when you heard his rushing steps, his phone's screen lit up with the exact information you were provided with.
“Hey,” he breathed, taking in your worried gaze as you gave him an apologetic smile.
“Sorry for the fuss.”
He shook his head once, muttering a single “no need” before he took the box out of your arms and put it down in front of the door. Grabbing your hand he started pulling you downstairs. “We gotta get out of here.”
“Huh?” you looked back at the box helplessly, before you couldn't look anymore, instead watching out for your step on the stairs. “Wait - Chul, I need to fulfill the task.”
He shushed you and before you knew it, you were outside in the chilly air. Dragging you a few more metres, he heard an approaching car's engine and he was fast to push you into a small alley that was barely lit by any street lamps.
“Chul-” you started, frowning. You didn't like him manhandling you like that.
“Do you trust me?” he whispered as he made you press your back against the wall.
“Yeah,” you breathed, eager to hear any information he could provide you with to explain what the hell was going on.
To your utter horror, a police car drove by, but you weren't terrified about why the police car was there. You were terrified about a certain someone sitting in that car and you possibly having to face that certain someone. Just the thought of having to see his shocked or disappointed face yet again made you inwardly whimper.
When the car was far enough, Chul turned to you. “You are doing a great job, you really are. But you mustn't, by any means, get caught by the police while doing deliveries. Got it?”
Feeling your heart thumping loudly from the adrenaline, you nodded. “What about the box then?”
Chul cursed when he looked at his phone. “Three minutes left. Go in and check the box. If it's still there, take it to the top floor as per request. Sometimes they give misleading information to you in case your phone gets stolen. Next time, make sure to double-check all the information they give you, okay?”
You were nodding eagerly and already started walking back to the small apartment building.
“I have to go but write to me if the mission is successful. Now go, quickly,” he said and without waiting, took off into the opposite direction.
Due to the stress, you didn't even stop to think about the weirdness of the situation. Rushing back in, you went to the first floor where you left the box. You were rendered motionless when the box was no longer there.
Someone took it.
Feeling fear creeping into your system, you took out your phone to call Chul just when you received a confirmation message.
Unknown number
the box has been successfully delivered

Part: 1 I 2 I 3 I 4 I 5 I 6 I 7 I 8 I 9 I 10 I Epilogue
**
On closer inspection, the house in the middle of the field was quite pretty. Simple, white, well kept. A secondary building with metal walls sat adjacent to the house – a garage, perhaps. Waiting on the porch was the man from earlier. Baekhyun. Now you remembered his name. He was joined by a few others – Chanyeol, Sehun, and one you didn’t know – who stared at you in curious wonder. Their eyes were wide and investigative, as if you were the supernatural creature and not Minseok.
“Looks like the cat’s out of the bag,” Baekhyun said with a snicker.
“Or pup, in this case,” said the one you didn’t know. Black hair that fell over his forehead and an upturn sat in both corners of his lips, though he wasn’t smiling.
Minseok merely shook his head as he pushed past them into the house. The screen door shut with a loud slam. You flinched at the noise. Chanyeol sighed as he glanced at you. “Would you like something to drink?”
“Yes, please,” you nodded. He motioned for you to follow him inside.
Through a short front parlor and a cozy living room, he led you into the kitchen where you stood awkwardly. The only noise came from the water flowing from the refrigerator spicket. The ice clinked as it moved around the glass. Your eyes wandered across the large, open space. Sunlight poured in from the windows in the two outer walls. It gave the whole room a yellow hue despite the white and light gray coloring of the cabinets and backsplash. Whoever had last designed this room had done so in a way to make it feel bigger and open, welcoming even. You wondered if there must have been a woman living here to give the finer touches. Minseok hadn’t mentioned anyone beyond his male roommates. The thought of a woman living amongst them made you slightly jealous, but you shoved it aside when Chanyeol held out the glass for you.
“Thank you,” you murmured before taking a sip.
He nodded shyly. His foot tapped lightly against the hard wood floor with his hands shoved into his pockets. He looked everywhere except for at you. Feeling eyes on you anyway, you glanced over your shoulder just in time to see several crops of hair disappear from the hallway entrance.
You scoffed. “You guys act like you’ve never seen a female before.”
“Not one like you.”
Minseok stepped into the room wearing a t-shirt with frayed edges where the sleeves had been cut off and a pair of basketball shorts. As angry as you were with him, the distrust still very much apparent, you were fighting the urge to run to him. What was this stupid, conflicting feeling? Making eye contact with Minseok, Chanyeol ducked his head and hurriedly left the kitchen.
“So,” you crossed your arms after putting down the glass and leaned against the counter, “is this the part where you explain to me what the hell is going on?”
“I will, but not here.”
“No, you don’t get to do that!” you snapped. “You didn’t want to tell me in the forest, so we came back here and now you don’t want to tell me here?”
Minseok shrunk back. “I just meant down here. Can we go upstairs? Away from where the others can hear?”
That suggestion could be accepted. Actually, you felt a little bad for exploding, but could you really be blamed? Given the information dump you were steadily receiving today? “Oh. Okay. Lead the way.”
Minseok’s hand twitched at his side, but he kept it in check as he turned and headed back up the stairs. The top spilled out into a hallway lined with doors. This space wasn’t as bright as the kitchen. Different shades of dark brown covered the wooden floor and plaster walls. No windows gave view to the outside making you feel trapped. “This one’s mine,” Minseok said. He held on to a handle of one of the middle doors and waited for you to come closer before pushing it open. When you saw what lied beyond the door, you nearly smiled.
On the walls were posters of famous soccer players and indie movies you’d never heard of. The bed was made with military precision, not a creased comforter or half-strewn pillow in sight. Against the far wall under a singular window was a desk. The notebooks were stacked in the top right corner, the edges so straight a ruler wouldn’t be able to find fault. Pens and pencils occupied a small cup to keep the rest of the desk clear.
“Not what you expected?” Minseok asked as he closed the door.
“Yes and no.” You stole a glance at him over your shoulder. “It’s very… neat.”
Minseok smiled shyly. He shuffled over to the bed and sat down. If he expected you to take the spot next to him, he was wrong. Instead, you chose the chair. A precaution for yourself.
Neither of you knew where to start. Who was supposed to talk first? What part should even be considered the beginning? Unable to continue in this awkward silence, you jumped in feet first.
“You can really… turn into a wolf?” The words felt like glue in your throat. Creatures like that belonged in fairytales and fantasy films, not a college campus.
“Yeah,” Minseok said. “We all can. All nine of us.”
“All nine.” Oh, great. A whole pack of them. “Even the one’s I met?” Stupid question. He’d already answered that, technically. But Minseok simply nodded instead of calling out the redundancy. “So, were you all bitten or-” You felt ridiculous basing the current situation on myth and legend, but what else did you have to go on?
“We’re all born this way. You can’t be like us from a bite or a scratch. It has to be in your DNA.” He snuck a peek before beating you to the next question. “The moon doesn’t really influence us either. I mean, its easier to see by at night in the forest, but it doesn’t force us to change. We can do that whenever we want. Witches have more of a connection with the giant rock in the sky.”
“Witches! They’re real, too? What else is real? Vampires? Dragons? Goblins?” What kind of world had you stumbled into?
Minseok flinched. “Maybe we should stick to one subject at a time.”
“Right.” That was probably best for your sanity. “So, if you have to be born like,” you gestured to him, “… this, does that mean both of your parents were, too?”
“Just my dad,” Minseok said. “Females wolves are extremely rare.”
“Well, that’s sexist.”
“Hey, we didn’t make up the rules. It’s genetics.” He scratched the back of his neck, twitching his lips from side to side. “I guess I should say that silver doesn’t bother us either.”
Why did you feel relieved at that random fact? It didn’t matter, as that wasn’t the most pressing issue to you. “Earlier you mentioned that it wasn’t you killing the campers-”
“It wasn’t any of us!”
“I believe you.” The words tumbled off your lips. And you realized that it was true. You couldn’t twist the nervous, sweet guy in front of you into a mindless killer. The way he was explaining everything slowly, cautiously, giving you time to understand. He wasn’t hiding anything from you. Not anymore. “I’m just confused when you said it was an omega?”
“Its just a ranking system within a pack,” he explained. “Alpha, beta, MR, omega. Junmyeon’s the alpha of our pack, he’s in charge. Yixing and I are betas, second in command. We help enforce Junmyeon’s word and keep an eye on the younger wolves who like to cause mischief.” He chuckled, as if remembering times when said mischief occurred. “The rest are all MR – Mid-ranking. They all have their own duties should they be needed. Well, except for Jongin and Sehun. They’re the youngest wolves so they get special treatment most of the time. Its okay, though. They kind of make you want to take care of them, the way they are.”
You nodded filing all the information away for later recall. “And the omega?”
“A wolf without a pack. Nine times out of ten they were kicked out for defying the alpha, for putting their own interests ahead of the pack. Without that structure, a lot of them turn feral.”
“Nine times out of ten?”
“It’s extremely rare, but sometimes a wolf will choose to never join a pack in the first place. It’s nearly unheard of though. We’re too social of creatures. Nine-point-five out of ten would probably be a better number.”
You couldn’t help the laugh that came out. Of course he would bring up math in a time like this. Minseok laughed along with you. Eventually, though, it died out, along with the smile that had been growing on his lips. “There’s something else I need to tell you.”
Picking up on his mood, you tilted your head to the side. “I don’t think anything else could take me by surprise at this point.” Minseok stared at you pointedly. Your stomach began to sink. What other little secret could he possibly be harboring at this point? You didn’t think anything could be as shocking as his shapeshifting abilities.
“Have you ever heard the expression ‘wolves mate for life’?” he asked cryptically.
“Yeah?”
“Well-” he shifted, crinkling the perfect comforter in the process. “We don’t know why it happens. Junmyeon thinks its nature’s way of compensating our ‘otherness’ while Jongdae just thinks it’s another level of torture.” An uncomfortable laugh. “But, um, every wolf has their own mate. Just one, that they stick with for the rest of their lives.”
Unable to keep looking at him, you leaned forward, resting your elbows on your knees. “So, are you saying that you all get to pick whoever you want as your mate and that’s it? You claim them because of what you are?”
“No!” Minseok jumped to his feet. Swallowing visibly, he cleared his throat, but remained standing. “No, we don’t get to pick. It happens out of nowhere. Our mates are chosen for us before either is born. And we can meet them under any circumstances. Some favorable, some… not so much.”
You looked up at him “What are you trying to say, Minseok?”
He walked up to you, each step hesitant, each step full of fear. Crouching down, he sighed as he looked into your eyes. “What I’m trying to say, (y/n), is that… you’re my mate.”
At first, you only blinked. The words had to be soaked in one at a time before you could piece them together and understand the sentence as a whole. “I- what? How do you even know?”
Reaching out, Minseok took ahold of your hand. You didn’t fight it. The electricity was practically singing between your skins. “Really, all it takes is one look. A few seconds of eye contact and the pull takes hold. But this feeling we both get when we touch, its confirmation. And then there’s this.”
He pulled your hand closer, pressing your palm against his chest. The heat transferring through the thin fabric was enough to make you sweat, but that wasn’t the point of this exercise. It was the rate of which his heart was beating. As he stared at you with awe, his heart sprinted as if it were in second place of a race and needed to pass just one more runner to win.
“Every time I see you, this happens,” Minseok whispered. “It doesn’t matter how good my day has been, its always better when I’m with you.”
“We haven’t even known each other that long.”
“It doesn’t take long, apparently.”
You frowned, confused. “Apparently?”
A small smile pulled up one corner of his mouth. “I’m the first one in the pack to find my mate. The first one to experience this.”
The first…. You wanted to laugh at the romantic angle your brain was seeing this.
A knock came from the door. Minseok stood up, reluctantly dropping your hand before answering the intrusion. “Yeah?”
Several roommates were standing in the hall, all peering around Minseok to get a better look at you.
“Kyungsoo said it was time for dinner,” one of them said. “And that he could hear your mate’s empty stomach from downstairs.”
“And it took all of you to come tell us?” Minseok questioned as he folded his arms. He shifted to block more of the doorway, shielding you from their stares.
“It was an important job,” another one said.
Minseok looked back at you before sighing. “Tell Kyungsoo that I’ll be down in a second.”
“But-”
The door was shut before the argument could be finished. The rush of footsteps faded in the background until it was only the two of you once again.
“Are you hungry?” Minseok asked. You nodded sheepishly. “You don’t have to go downstairs. You can stay here and I’ll bring it up to. Kyungsoo’s a good cook so whatever he made will be delicious.”
“Actually, I’ll go down with you,” you said, to the surprise of both of you. Everything Minseok had told you was still sinking in. There was too much to process and completely comprehend, but the pieces were fitting together. And you were curious about life here. If you really were meant to be his mate, maybe you should know where that road led. It was the right at the fork. You’d uncovered a sign that gave you a clue to where it was headed. You wanted to follow it.
Minseok waited patiently as you stood up and walked towards him. He let you out the door first. There was a moment where your fingers brushed as you passed. You could feel the muscles in his hand tighten. He wanted to take your hand again – and you almost let him. But you held back. There was still something stopping you. Or, rather, a who.
The noise hit you halfway down the stairs. Being told that nine people lived together and truly witnessing it were two very different concepts. There was no order that you could see. Most of the boys sat around the table, conducting multiple conversations at once that overlapped that you had to wonder how they could understand each other. A few sat in a small booth off to the side in a world of their own. It was the kind of breakfast nook you’d only seen before in home magazines. Two boys stood at the counters, their backs to the chaos behind them.
One of them – sporting a very well put together look and black rimmed glasses – turned and smiled at you and Minseok. “There you are. Glad to see you came down.” He held his hand out to you. “I’m Junmyeon.”
“The alpha,” you said as you shook his hand.
“I see Minseok told you most of it,” Junmeyon said.
“Pretty much everything,” Minseok corrected.
You felt your face contort as you tried to pinpoint where you’d seen this man before. “Wait. Aren’t you a professor?”
Junmyeon laughed. “Yeah, I am. In the literature department. Folklore, to be exactly. But I’d prefer if we kept this between us.” He sent you a wink to show he was teasing. Behind you, Misneok growled, making you jump. “I’m just playing, Minseok.”
“And I’m sure he’ll be playing when he rips your head off,” the other stove-top occupant stated. He held out a plate for you piled high with food. There was no way you would be able to eat all of that. “I’m Kyungsoo, by the way.”
“(y/n),” you greeted back. “It’s nice to meet you.” Taking the plate, you tried to hand it off to Minseok.
“No, that’s yours.”
Not wanting to be rude, you said between gritted teeth, “I can’t eat all of this.”
Minseok pinched his face as if debating on something. “Fine. We’ll share.”
“Are you sure about that?” Junmyeon asked. “There won’t be any left over for seconds. You know that.”
“It’ll be fine.”
Shaking his head, Kyungsoo held on to one side of the plate and added another scoop of rice and meat each. “Just in case.”
After thanking him, Minseok guided you over to the table with a hand hovering over your lower back. Even without the contact, you could feel the heat coming from his palm. Or maybe it was just your imagination filling in. Minseok pulled out a chair for you on the empty end before sitting next you. It was obvious he’d purposefully placed you away from the others.
“Possessive much?” Baekhyun snorted as he dug into a plate of his own.
“I’m sure it’s just instinct.” The comment came from one of the more slender boys – Boys? Wolves? You weren’t sure how to address them properly. Maybe later. Your brain needed a break. The one who had spoken had a very pointed face, but in a way that was still handsome. You weren’t sure if you’d seen him before or not.
“That’s Yixing,” Minseok said. “And the last one to meet, I guess, is Jongdae.”
Jongdae turned out to be the curled-lip one who still wasn’t smiling. In fact, he was the only one not in some level of a cheerful mood as he sat in the breakfast booth. He barely looked at you while everyone else was. Some were even blatantly staring at you as they shoveled in food to their mouths.
“You should eat.” Minseok picked up a fork and stabbed a slice of marinade-covered meat, holding it out for you to eat like a child.
“I can do that myself, thanks.” You took the fork and chewed slowly on the meat. It was good. More than good, really, so you took another bite and another. Soon, you were full, though there was more than half a plate left. You scooted the plate over to Minseok. “Okay, your turn.”
“You’re done? Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m stuffed.”
Minseok didn’t reach for the other fork he’d grabbed, as if giving you a chance to change your mind. When you made no such move, he dug in. You smiled at the way he ate, enjoying every bite with satisfaction. At the sight of every plate being empty, Baekhyun stood up. “I’m going to watch a movie,” he announced.
“Oh, that sounds like a good idea!” Jongin said.
Yixing asked, “Which one?”
Baekhyun shrugged. “I don’t know. Whatever’s new. (Y/n), want to join us?”
Minseok cut in. “I don’t know if that-”
“I’d love to!” You turned to Minseok and gave him a cheeky smile. It felt a bit defiant. Perhaps he wanted to explain more to you or spend time with you alone in general, but you wanted to know how this group operated together. You wanted insight to their normalcy. Getting to your feet, you picked up the plate, but Junmyeon reached over and took it from you.
“Don’t worry about this. We’ll clean up.”
“But-”
The alpha wouldn’t have it. “You’re the guest. Shoo.”
More than happy with that argument (dishes weren’t your thing by a long shot), you followed the cluster of excited men to the living room. They crashed on nearly every surface – the couch, the chairs, the floor, anywhere they could fit. Minseok approached Jongin and Sehun who had taken a corner of the long couch.
“Move,” he ordered.
“But we were here first!” Sehun whined. Jongin look over to you and then got up without a word, sitting down on the floor with his back against the coffee table.
“Sehun….”
“You’re really going to kick the youngest off the comfortable seat?”
You tried to break up the awkward exchange. Well, it was awkward for you since you were the reason for the discussion. “It’s fine, really. I can sit on the floor.”
“You’re not sitting on the floor,” Minseok told you. To Sehun, he said, “I’m the eldest and she’s a guest. Please move.”
For a second nothing happened. Then Sehun huffed. “Fine.” He got up and joined Jongin on the floor. He lied down on his stomach and pulled out his phone, over it already. You felt bad but saw no point in arguing. Minseok let you sit first and then, once again, sat between you and Chanyeol, who happily occupied the other side of the couch.
Baekhyun flipped through a streaming service until he landed on a superhero movie. Everyone cheered at the choice, then quieted down as he pressed play. Someone turned out the lights so only the glow of the television remained.
Sitting shoulder to shoulder and leg to leg, you were hyper aware of Minseok. Arms crossed over your stomach and fists clenched, you told yourself repeatedly not to reach for his hand or lean on his shoulder no matter how heavy your eyelids were getting. Erik may have hit pause on your relationship, but there wasn’t much of a discussion of lines. You didn’t know the rules of that scenario and what was and wasn’t allowed. But as your tiredness grew, your willpower weakened. After a few bobs, your head landed softly on Minseok’s shoulder. It was too comfortable to move. It felt too nice, too right. Like his shoulder was the one you were always supposed to lean on. And that was when Minseok made a move of his own.
Holding your head up, he adjusted his arm so it was now draped over your shoulders. Your head rested against his chest when he laid you back down. Something vibrated against your cheek. Was that… purring? No, it had to be the booming from the movie. Right?
It didn’t take long for you drift into sleep. The movie was one you’d seen before so you couldn’t use that as an excuse to stay awake. You weren’t sure how long it had been. A slight bopping motion roused you. In the shallowness of your conscious you made out that you were being carried. Carried up stairs… and into a bedroom. While still holding you, that person managed to pull back the covers and tuck you into bed. As the arm slipped away you grabbed hold of the wrist. Through the slightest slits in your eyes you could make out Minseok’s silhouette.
“Shh, it’s okay,” he whispered. “Go back to sleep. I’ll take the couch downstairs.”
“No. Stay.”
He froze at your request. “Are you sure?”
“Please.”
Even in the darkness, you could see him smiling. “Okay.” Shutting the door, he peeled back the covers once more and slid in beside you. Happy wasn’t even close to how you felt when he pulled you in close to his chest. You drifted back to sleep with a smile on your face.

Note: i suggest to read while listening to i'd come for you by nickelback (●'◡'●) Request: hello! i love your imagines and i really love your writings. can i request between jeno or jaemin you can choose, soldier au like sehun's and chanyeol's? from those two saves the reader and her little sister? thank youu ^^
"So you're definitely back now?" Y/N smiled as saw her sister Jieun ask once more. The youngest didn't seem to believe the news.
“Yes, I came back to stay.” she replied to the youngest. "I'll keep my promise, remember?"
Although they were 10 years apart, the sisters were very close. When Y/N left the country to study in America, an opportunity she jumped at with all her might, she promised would come back to take care of her sister.
And now she was fulfilling, officially.
"I know." the sister replied, smiling. "There is another person who was happy with that."
"Oh yeah? Who?" Y/N asked interestedly while texting on her phone.
"Jeno." Jieun spoke and saw her sister stop what was doing to stare at her with a silly smile. "Mom said he kept asking dad when you were back in town."
Y/N bit her bottom lip to keep from grinning, maybe because she was talking to the guy right now or because she was also happy to be back. Or maybe both.
Jeno and Y/N had known each other since they were children, their parents were friends since high school, they were born and raised together.
Y/N had a crush on him back then, they'd kissed once in their teens and he'd never hidden that liked her. Of course, his plans went awry when she decided to move to New York, but they never stopped talking.
Y/N had even followed Jeno's early military career from a distance and had been overjoyed that he had managed to make his dream come true.
"He told me." Y/N spoke and saw her sister looking suspiciously. “After leaving the bank, we’re already heading to the coffee shop to wait for him.”
The idea was for Y/N to sort out everything she needed to get back, including problems with her account that required her to be at the bank, and then find Jeno to spend the afternoon together like they hadn't done in a long time, and Jieun had gone with her since she was on vacation.
The two were walking calmly down the street towards the building when a car screeched and stopped abruptly in front of them, not giving time for either Y/N or Jieun to react, two men jumped out and went towards them, Jieun was separated from her sister who tried to scream to let go of the youngest, but she was forcefully pushed into the car.
Y/N saw that her sister was thrown inside in the same way and before she could ask what was happening, she felt pressure on the back of her neck and lost consciousness, her eyelids getting heavier and heavier and it was hard not to give in to the darkness.
[...]
Jeno was happy, he didn't even hide his smile.
The bouquet of flowers he'd just bought in one hand and his phone in the other, he checked the time on the watch he wore and felt a pang of anxiety as realized the time was approaching.
He would meet Y/N for the first time in so long. They would make up for lost time.
He was close to the coffee shop they had arranged to meet when felt the phone vibrate in his hand, promptly answering when saw Y/N's name on the screen.
"I'm not late." he warned, laughing.
"It's a good thing you're punctual, because you'll need to be on time." an unfamiliar male voice spoke, causing Jeno to stop where he was.
He hadn't liked the tone of voice.
"Who is it?"
“No need to worry about that now. This is a kidnapping and you will do everything I say if you want to see your girlfriend and the little kid again.”
Jeno lost strength in his fingers and clenched his jaw so tightly that heard the grinding of his teeth.
"What do you want?" he asked slowly.
“500 thousand dollars in an hour.” Jeno looked at the clock once more and wanted to huff, but tried to make a plan in his head.
"Where?"
"I'll send you the location and I warn you, don’t involve the police."
"I want to talk to her, I want to make sure she's okay." Jeno asked and heard a complaint on the other end of the line.
“Jeno!” he heard Y/N's startled voice and felt his heart squeeze so much it hurt.
“Y/N, don't be afraid. I will find you both, I promise.” assured but heard her complain once more and her voice disappeared.
"If I were you, I would run." the man answered before hanging up.
Jeno grunted in anger, holding back the scream he wanted to give, grabbed the phone tightly and stuffed it in his pocket before he could throw it on the floor. He retraced his steps to the car and hurried out of there, completely forgetting about the bouquet lying on the sidewalk.
He wouldn't involve the police. He didn't need it, he had enough resources to act on his own.
Jeno drove to his base while calling his partner along the way he used to do in 10 minutes, he managed to do it in 5.
When he arrived at the base, he went straight to find Jaemin in the command room and rushed inside.
"You got it?" Jeno asked worriedly and saw Jaemin smile.
“The signal comes from the north.” Jaemin pointed at the computer screen and Jeno stared with determination. “It's in the suburbs, it's a not-so-safe area and…” Jaemin looked at Jeno, realizing that he was about to act, decided to speak: “I know that look. What will you do?"
"What do you think?" Jeno returned the question and strode out of the control room, followed by his partner.
“Jeno, you’re crazy but not suicidal.” Jaemin remembered as he walked beside him to the locker room. “The problem is not getting into that area, the problem is getting out.” the partner spoke but Jeno was more concerned with putting on his black uniform and vest. “Do you really want to go there without backup?”
“You would do the same, wouldn't you? In fact, you already did.” Jeno remembered.
“It was different.” Jaemin replied and saw Jeno snort. "I wasn't a Captain and I was on a mission."
"My current rank is irrelevant, I'm not going as a soldier." Jeno spoke as he strapped the gun to his waist.
Jaemin took a deep breath, he knew his friend was stubborn and wouldn't be able to do or say anything to stop him.
"You said Y/N's sister was also kidnapped." Jeno nodded, too busy holstering the knife at his ankle. "I've got your back."
Jeno stared at him, surprised.
"That's not what I asked of you."
"I know, but I can't let the Captain go alone." Jaemin replied seriously, in a way that only happened when there was a mission, Jeno pondered.
It wasn't an official army mission, couldn't even call in reinforcements, he barely had time for that.
He needed to act as quickly as possible and knew that no matter how skilled he was, he would need help and no one better than Jaemin. Jeno trusted him more than he trusted himself.
So he just nodded and tapped his friend on the shoulder twice.
"Thanks!" he spoke and received a smile in response.
Quickly, they headed to the parking lot towards Jeno's car after Jaemin grabbed the laptop to trace the signal.
Jeno drove visibly nervous, ran through so many red lights but that was what worried him the least.
“The phone signal is 1km from the delivery point.” Jaemin warned and Jeno looked at his watch.
“We have 10 minutes before the deadline.” he warned and Jaemin indicated where he should go.
Jeno stopped on an empty, dead-end street.
"It's that house." Jaemin pointed to the place and closed the notebook, throwing it on the floor of the car.
“We only have 8 minutes.” Jeno warned.
"Enough time."
The two got out of the car, drawing their weapons and adopting a rigid position, Jeno watched the place while Jaemin analyzed the house. All in silence.
Without needing to speak or point, Jaemin took the lead covering Jeno. They crouched down so their silhouettes wouldn't appear in front of the window and Jaemin pointed to the back door, it was clean.
Jeno strode along, gun in front of him and finger on the trigger, ready to fire if need be. The back door was open and he looked inside the house, from where he was standing he could see Jieun from afar, tied to a chair with her mouth covered with a threadbare cloth.
He moved his head so that Jaemin would go ahead and he would follow, so they did, the girl's eyes widening with tears.
Jeno motioned for her to be silent as he took the knife out of the holster with one hand, the other hand that carried the weapon was lowered, Jaemin kept close but was aware of any noise that could indicate someone approaching.
Jeno took the ropes from Jieun and hugged him tight as soon as she felt her arms free, she cried on his shoulder as he patted her back.
"Where is your sister?" He asked in a whisper and the girl moved away, he put the knife away again and dried her tears.
"They just took her to the second floor, I think they're going to hurt her. They're armed." she explained and Jeno looked at Jaemin seriously.
Jeno felt his blood boiling, adrenaline coursing through his veins.
"Take Jieun out of here and call the police." he ordered and saw his friend falter before agreeing. "How many?"
"Two." she replied, trembling.
The three heard a noise of glass breaking upstairs and Jeno stood up quickly with both hands on the gun.
"Go!" he ordered and Jaemin ran with the youngest one while Jeno went in the opposite direction.
He scanned the floor below quickly and when he realized that there was no one, he took two steps at once going up the stairs to save time.
He was just as careful in the hallway and heard a grunt.
“Stay still, pretty, I guarantee it won't hurt. Too much." he heard male laughter and approached the room.
The door was open and Jeno saw Y/N lying on an old mattress that was thrown on the floor while a man had a knife near her neck and another watched a little further back with his gun pointed.
Both on their backs without noticing his presence, then Jeno took advantage and aimed at the head of the one with the gun, he squeezed the trigger and hit the target, the noise of the falling body caught the attention of the one holding the knife and Y/N tried to scream.
"What the-" he started to speak as walked towards the door but didn't finish as Jeno got in front of him and shot in the middle of the forehead.
The body fell back and Jeno maintained the position, the hatred he felt made him want to unload all the ammunition in the bastard's face but seeing a shocked Y/N crying, turned his attention to her.
All that mattered was her.
“Y/N!” he lowered the gun and approached her, taking off the cloth that covered her mouth and a sob escaped her lips.
Jeno put the gun in his waist and took out the knife so he could cut the ropes that held her.
“Shh, okay. It's alright." she met his gaze and couldn't control a cry of relief. "You're safe, I'm here." with his free hand, Jeno pulled her by the back of her neck until she was leaning her face against his shoulder.
Y/N hugged him tight, feeling him reciprocate and caressing her hair.
"I'm here and I'm not going anywhere." he assured and heard sirens, knowing it was okay he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
He had arrived on time.
[...]
After calming down enough to get up, Jeno took her outside and Y/N ran to hug her distressed sister waiting for her. The two cried and were examined by the ambulance paramedics that Jaemin had asked for, Y/N asked Jaemin to stay with her sister while she went to testify to the police alongside Jeno. The youngest was just mentally traumatized, no scratches. Unlike Y/N, she had her lip split from the slap she'd taken from one of the men when she'd protected her sister from being taken by him. Her entire body ached as she had forced it against one of the kidnappers, causing him to slam against the glass of the second floor window, she was pushed to the mattress on the floor and ended up hitting her head against the wall. That was before Jeno appeared. Paramedics suggested she go to the hospital to make sure she didn't have any concussions.
“We were on the street, going to the bank when suddenly a car stopped in front of us and two men pushed us inside, they hit me on the back of the head and I passed out.” Y/N spoke and Jeno hugged her sideways, patting her arm. “When I woke up, we were both strapped to two chairs, back to back, they forced me to unlock my phone and called the first person that came along.” Y/N looked at Jeno.
“They told me it was a kidnapping and they wanted money within an hour, they would send me the address so I could leave the amount there, but I couldn't involve the police. I knew they would kill them both so I decided to act on my own.” Jeno explained and watched the policeman write it all down, while he nodded in agreement.
"Have you seen many cases like this, Captain?" the policeman asked.
“Unfortunately yes, that's why I came with my partner.” he pointed back to where Jaemin was. “We entered the house and saw Jieun trapped, we freed her and I heard a noise, when I went up I saw that they were about to kill Y/N. Both were armed so I fired.”
Y/N shivered and lowered her head, Jeno hugged her tighter as if saying he was there to protect her.
She knew it, now she was more sure than ever, but the memory was still fresh in her memory and it made her shiver. She really thought she was going to die.
“Alright, Captain. Do you want to take on the case?
“Yes, leave it to me.” Jeno replied and the policeman agreed, leaving shortly after.
Y/N took a deep breath and let herself be led by Jeno, he made her sit on the sidewalk.
“It would be nice if you go to the hospital, make sure you haven’t had any head injuries.” he said, worried.
She shook her head as looked down at her hands.
"I just want to go home." she spoke low and unwillingly.
She was tired and scared.
"Hey." Jeno brought his hand to Y/N's chin and lifted it so she was facing him. Her watery eyes made him caress her skin. "You were very brave."
"I had to keep my promise to take care of my sister." She smiled weakly.
Jeno felt his heart heat up like it hadn't in a long time, since Y/N was gone to be exact.
"And so do I." he admitted and Y/N looked at him confused. "When you left, I promised myself that I wouldn't waste time the day you came back, that I would be by your side." Y/N was surprised but felt the truth in his words. “I would never let anything bad happen to you. I would fight for you, I would give my life for you.”
Y/N was taken by surprise and her heart started to beat so fast that she felt it against her ribs, unable to think of another way to thank him for what he had done, she fixed her gaze on Jeno's lips and approached to let her lips gently touch his.
He moved his hand to her cheek and held it there longer, not wanting to let go of the soft touch.
When they parted, Jeno put their noses together and moved like he was giving an Eskimo kiss making Y/N smile.
He kept his hand on her cheek and stared at her deeply, a shiver running through her body.
"You know I would always come for you."
