ahhhhhh you said to contact you here instead of on the nexus because you don't check there often and I was just wondering how the heck you got your fallout 4 "face paints and scars" mod to work with LooksMenu and LMCC? I've followed the tint API tutorial to a T, and I will admit even to the point of copying/modifying the .json files you have in yours (please do not worry about this I don't intend to ever publish this mod on the nexus or anywhere else, I just didn't know what else to do once my version didn't work, and honestly did it merely to see if it would even show up), and yet despite that, my custom category refuses to show up in the main menu.
Yours does perfectly, which, incredible mod by the way, it's definitely going to remain in my load order for character creation (I especially love the scars!), so I'm just confused as to why mine isn't showing up. I've gone as far as changing the category ID (the one that needs to be between 8 and 255) just about every single number (minus 236, which I think is yours), to see if it would work when starting a new game.
at this point i'm at a loss, so I was wondering how you managed to get it to work??
Hey! Thank your for the ask!
FWIW, you or any other person can use any part of my mods in your own. Plugins, file structure, textures, models, whatever. I learned by pulling apart other people's work, and I want people to be able to benefit from my mods. Feel free to use my json files and just edit the names/values to your liking if that works for you.
Is it just your custom category that isn't showing up? if you try adding your tints to other categories do they work, or is no part of your mod working? Is the file path correct, does it match your blank plugin? And is your plugin enabled? I've found that any errors in json files result in CTDs, so if they're not working but the game is it may not be the json that is an issue.
Also, if you're using notepad++, be sure to delete any .bak files that are generated on saves as they will cause a CTD on startup if they are in your F4EE folders.
It's hard to troubleshoot this without seeing your files. If you'd like, you can upload your zipped mod to google drive or somewhere and send it to me. Links will not work over asks here, but we can take this convo to nexusmods, now that I know you're looking for me I will be sure to check my inbox!
Also, shamelessly plugging my mod for people that haven't seen it.
