What do you think of the boys season 4
I love it!
homelander arc is very interesting because despite his god complex he is so undeniably human, also trying to balance his absolute psychotic mindset with genuinely trying to be what he thinks is a good father is really intriguing. he also seems somewhat more⊠tame? like violent murder is definitely still on the table, and he enjoys torturing those who wronged him, but itâs not as arbitrary and random as before, he doesnât torture people like deep or a-train just for the sake of it, doesnât care about being idolized by someone like firecracker, actually wants people who are somewhat equal to him and actively seeks out sage and accepts that he could actually learn from her (âsmart enough to listenâ is genuinely a pretty wise quote) and donât get me wrong, none of this is homelander apologism, dude is still psycho, but it definitely feels like an intriguing growth - like developing from a superpowered man-baby to an actual supervillain (does him getting milk again represent a step back then? time will tell)
then on the other hand you have butcher torn between literal devil and angel on his shoulder as his time is running out, I loved his decision not to give ryan the cookies (the kid really seems to bring out the best in everyone - despite being somewhat pscho himself) and excited to see where it goes and if theyâll actually kill him off (I think not tbh)
new noir is funny, may actually become a cool character
deep is still a sad little bitch
a-train redemption was expected and doesnât feel perfectly executed, but I do really like it in theory and was hoping for it. that moment taking mm to the hospital where his little cousin sees him was great, something about actually becoming the hero people see him as⊠beautiful powerful arc if they go through with it
kimiko is still awesome and cute. I love her! donât have much to say because I donât fully get her arc (doesnât show subtitles for some reason) but Iâm happy whenever sheâs on screen, her exasperated sigh when she has to keep explaining everything with books was the bestđ
mm is similar, I still love him but poor dude needs a break
hughie arc with his dad was very meaningful, accepting his death, reconciling with his mother and forgiving a-train, he has finally actually learned from his mistakes which is so great to see (compared to people like butcher always stepping in the same shit again and again)
annie confronting her past is also great, I actually hope her and cracker can somehow reconcile too (cracker is really up in the air, giving 50% redemption vibes but might also just double down on being evil and eventually getting killed or discarded)
tek knight was underwhelming, I expected an evil batman not a weird masochist, at least not JUST a weird masochist
frenchie Idk, he was a favorite before but I heard bad things about his actor, his arc is actually great imo I just canât fully enjoy it
did I miss anyone? oh ashley⊠sheâs just a weird character, canât really hate nor pity her, she is a victim, she is a villain, sheâs pathetic, sheâs ultimately unnecessary and doesnât add much
but yeah overall extremely happy with the season and canât wait for next episode

I finally started watching The Boys.
Itâs been on my âto watchâ list for years but I was just standing on the precipice wonderingâŠis it actual satire? Is is intelligent? Or is it try-hard-edgy-bois using a flimsy excuse to create the thing itâs satirizing? Itâs peoplesâ responses to it and some of the marketing that had me wondering.
But my sister and my son started watching it and told me Iâd love it so I did.
And itâs really really good.
I got through S1 in a matter of days. I just finished the season premiere of S2. Here are my spoiler ridden thoughts:
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
Wow it is addictive and bingeable and the characters are all flawed and infuriating in such REAL and HUMAN ways that you are like psychoanalyzing them and super super into all of their lives and dramas. Itâs good ass food and compelling storytelling.
The themes of private companies involved in national defense and criminal justice are appropriately fucking dystopian.
Yes. Ok. There are many disturbing bits. I almost didnât keep watching because of what happened to Annie. I just donât trust people to write that shit well. But it has surprised me that it has. It has focused it all on her growth and what that means for her. Itâs not reveling in her pain or sensationalizing it. But sheâs very human and it focuses on her growth in a way that feels authentic. I was raised by fundamentalist baptist (a much more hardcore version of how she was raised) so I feel it every time she is disillusioned. Itâs so real.
And as for the gore and violence it is just campy enough to be fine (you canât take it too seriously when Butcher is using an infant to shoot at people đ)
And as for the anti-supe crew (I am sure the fandom has a name for them):
Was there ever a more precious crew of violent murderers and criminals?
Frenchy is just unbelievable and sweet. They get busted and gassed and there are armed men pouring in to fuck them up and he runs to the door where the immortal supe is setting up camp (Kimiko is like, youâll get the bathroom back when Iâm done looking adorable and she was so right for that) and puts a towel under the door so the gas doesnât get to her. Just stuff like that. Unbelievable. Perfect. No notes.
MM, (i canât call him mothers milk after seeing Homelander chug the breast milk) is SO FUCKING GORGEOUS AND HUGGABLE and loves his family and helps struggling kids as his job. He is firm but kind with Hughie. Iâm obsessed. I just stare at him with my little heart eyes.
And speaking of Hughie
Oh god I usually could not give a shit less about the romances but Hughie and Annie are so precious. Itâs because it was not initially based on romance or attraction at all. Hughie was grieving but he was attracted to how honest and vulnerable and good she was. He palpably admires her and respects her as a human being and itâs so touching. And when she got her moment to rescue him and the sparks were going from the ceiling a la Castiel in Lazarus Rising I was like Ahhhhh Bahahhahaha đđ Iâm rooting hard for those kids.
Ok shorter thoughts
I love the kind of bastard Butcher is. The kind of character that has an understandable obsession but who loses himself in it to the detriment of others.
I love how many compelling, hardcore, older women there are in it. One role I notice people have a hard time envisioning women in, is the older, flinty, world weary advisor, so I loved Mallory.
Iâm sad the MILFs are dropping like flies (Jennifer Esposito I am free on Wednesday but also Thursday and Friday and really any day just call me pls) but it is what it is.
Holy shit the guy the plays Homelander is so good and creepy and terrifying and he makes my skin crawl.
Maeve baby leave him. You are tired I get that but pls go to your girlfriend. I want to hug this woman so badly.
I hope Kimiko gets a bigger role soon. Her character has so much potential and deserves to take up more of the narrative.
Ok thatâs it. On to S2.

In your opinion, how well do you think that Raimundo and Kimiko would have worked as a romantic couple if it had actually happened?
Oh, I have a headcanon on this! And in my opinion they would not work out actually đ Sadly, but after some time they would call it quits and return to be friends. In my headcanon their relation started as "friends with benefits" and it was a secret they didn't want to tell and share with the others. Especially Kim, cuz Rai basically did that only for her; He himself didnât have any problem with that. I mean he didn't want others to know they were sleeping together, but he was a little bit...Sad and felt like Kim is ashamed of their relation cuz many times when she thought somebody saw them or that someone was getting suspicious - she was panicking like something horrible would happen if that would be exposed. They had some arguments and talks about it and finally Kim admitted she has some feelings for him as well, and eventually they got together and went official on this. But their relationship wasn't perfect even at its beginnings. Kim wasn't so affectionate and wasn't showing Rai that much emotions, she didt need or want hugs and kisses, it was weird to her that she and Ra are close like this. Having a strictly physical relation was much easier than this. She struggled even with saying "I love you" back, so it didn't make much sense and Rai was actually the one who ended it. But even after that their friendship was continuing like nothing really happened, it was stronger than this "brief" relationship, so they were good. So answering shortly now to your question - No, I don't think they would work out đ

OH MY GOD! Iâm positively obsessed with this story! I love it!!! If this were legit a book, it would be one of those I wouldnât be able to put down, you know? The one you read and read and read and donât care about food and sleep, and then suddenly itâs three days later, and your stomach rumbles and your eyes are red, reminding you that you do need to eat and sleep. But yeah, itâs that kind of story! đđđ
More swooning below! đ
Honestly, I know you said at the end that this part was sort of a filler, but I would read thirty pages of purely this. I love the manhunt and her hanging out with the boys and Annie and Kimiko. I could read way more chapters of this and not get bored, seriously. Itâs that good! Gimme as much cat and mouse as possible. I thoroughly enjoyed this!
First of all, you nailed all the characters perfectly. Annie, Frenchie, Butcher, Hughie & M.M.! I laughed every time the latter mothered her or was anal about shit. Hilarious and so accurate! Five stars for a job well done! âïžâïžâïžâïžâïž
No, you werenât former SAS, like Butcher. You werenât CIA, or any other military alphabet soup.Â
Loved that line! Genuinely made me laugh đ
I also pretty much laughed at every line Butcher threw out. From âgranny fuckerâ to ânot enough hugs,â it was hard to contain myself. And I love her character, her skill set, and how damn smart she is! To me, this girl is Liam Neeson in Taken. God forbid someone dares to kidnap her sweet sister. Butcher better respect her!
Everything is relevant, always. Even if it isnât.
So true! And no matter what you think about Soldier Boy and his general attitude before he got kidnapped by the commies, forty years of torture certainly changes a person. He at least deserves a second chance to prove he might have changed, although heâs still pretty âmacho.â But câmon! The guy is over a hundred years old and missed out on tons of progress! How is he supposed to know any better if no one teaches him? Just knowing what he went through in Russia always breaks my heart. The guy needs a genuine hug and some understanding, not Novichok and a bullet, much less be turned back into a popsicle... đ
In other news, Iâm a fan of Soldier Boyâs South America tour so far. First Brazil where Iâm sure he learned what a g-string and a Brazilian wax is before he moved on to goddamn Columbia (of course he did). Did he already find out about Netflix and catch up on Narcos? Either way, I bet the cartels are happy to host him, even though he might snort the whole country đ
Her big blue eyes were vacant, her blonde hair caked with blood from a head shot.
No! Not Bette Davis Eyes! đ I love how caring reader was, though. Sheâs got a good heart in that chest of hers.
âI like it when theyâre cocky,â you replied.
Me too, girlie, me too... đ
[...] he seemed to be taking an extended vacation surrounding strip clubs, casinos, and other likely destinations for sex, drugs, and money.Â
As crazy as it may be, I genuinely love this guy đ Also love the fact that he robbed banks. Way to go, my hero!
âWhoever youâre looking for that isnât me,â he said, injecting a fair bit of charm into his voice.Â
Wow. Antonio is becoming annoying quickly. And handsy. ADIOS ASSHOLE! A small part of me hoped whoever is watching her (SB?) might swoop in and save her all hero-like. *sighs* A girl can only dream... But good for her! She saved herself! Who needs men anyway? My little Liam Neeson surely doesnât â€ïž
âHe had tenacity,â Frenchie remarked.
But of course, the French guy appreciates the Latino fire đ
You didnât want to go in, but you wouldnât put it past Soldier Boy to get caught up in a mass orgy.Â
No, we really shouldnât... đ
Focusing on the far wall, you saw a leather chair by the window, with a still smoking cigar laid to rest in an ash tray on a small table.
Okay, seriously, this should not turn me on as much as it does. Iâve never gone for the douchey cigar smoker, but all I want is for Soldier Boy to slap my rear and order me to refill his drink. What the fuck is wrong with me?
Butcher, youâll die first. Then the cum-guzzler.Â
DEAD!!! This one little note killed me. KILLED ME!!! I laughed so hard! Poor Hughie. He always gets the worst end of the stick đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł I bow to your feet and heavily applaud you for this one! đ (This is exactly why I could read endless chapters of this manhunt and this story. Hunt him around the globe. Iâll pay for the whole ride!)
âMaybe then youâllâand let me not shock you hereâmeet someone,â Louisa said. âAnd finally put an end to that goddamn dry spell. Whatâs it been, like three years?âÂ
I love her little sister đđ€
But mere feet above you, if you had only looked up to the roof, you wouldâve seen a hunter lazily eyeing his prey.
DUDE! That ending!!! Glorious! Is it SB? Someone from his entourage? No, I bet itâs him. She caught his green eyes in that sexy af leather dress, didnât she? I need help đđ
I want more! MORE! If this had legit 10k words, I wouldâve devoured it all the same đđ Amazing, amazing job, love! Can you tell Iâm obsessed yet? Sorry for that ultra long ramble. And that little sneak peek... đ Is it Wednesday yet? When is the next part dropping? GAH! đ
Break Me Down - Part 1
Pairing: Soldier Boy/Ben x Female Reader
Summary: Youâre a private investigator by trade, but now you happily sit at a desk â leading a surveillance team at Supe Affairs. After managing to end Homelander in New York, Soldier Boy escapes custody. You are recruited for the manhunt, joining Butcherâs team.
Truly, you joined the S.A. for the right reasons. But after you become his accidental hostage, Soldier Boy will break down every single one of themâŠ
**To start from the Prologue.
Word Count: 5,200 Warnings: Some male skeeviness lol.
Part 1: The Game Begins
Two months agoâŠ
You and M.M. continued to pour over all the records that the CIA had been able to pull on Soldier Boy.
This had been your life for the past month: locked in one hotel room after the next, up to your eyeballs in research. Or pounding the pavement in the sweltering summer of Brazil, on any whisper of Soldier Boy.
Right now it was the former. You all were piled into M.M.âs room, as it was the only one with a kitchen.
You smiled at Frenchie and thanked him when he offered you a steaming mug. At least you would finally get to experience Brazilian coffee.
You hiked a foot on the table where you and M.M. were working and sipped carefully; the mug was filled to the brim. Your companion eyed your pajama-clad leg, which only encroached an inch or two into his space.
âExcuse the fuck outta me,â said M.M. âCan you not?â
You briefly looked up from the (completely fabricated) biopic you were reading on Soldier Boy. âHmm?â
M.M. gestured to your bare foot on the table. âHello? What, were you raised in a fucking barn?â
With an amused smile, you lowered your leg. âIâm cramping up. Weâve been at this for six hours.â
âAnd counting,â Hughie said with a tired sigh. He and Annie had just come from scoping the local tourist spots and dive bars in the city. But it wasnât for pleasure. You all had arrived in Brazil last night on a rumor that Soldier Boy had been spotted at a club a couple of days ago.Â
Annie heaved a sigh as she dropped into the seat next to you. She stole your paper fan on the table and tried to dry the sweat on her face and neck. You smiled and passed her your bottled water as well.
You and Annie had been âwork friendlyâ at Supe Affairs. But now you felt like she had accepted you the most readily into the group. She seemed genuinely interested in who you were as a person as well.
Though you tried not to give too many personal details about your life, she had a way of disarming you, getting you to open up with her genuine willingness to listen.Â
You were friendly enough with Hughie and Kimiko as well, and you could also admit, you liked M.M. He was a straightforward man (and fun to tease with his anal idiosyncrasies). You got the most done with M.M. by your side. And watching him with Frenchie was pure entertainment.Â
Overall, you felt respected by them, even if you knew you werenât as close as the rest of them seemed to be. You just hadnât been on the team long enough.Â
The only one who mostly ignored you was Billy Butcher.
Butcher didnât want you on the team. Heâd made that pretty clear from the beginning.
What had his words been? Oh, yeah.
Sheâs a fucking amateur. Wonât last thirty seconds if, heavens for-fuckinâ-bid, she encounters an A-lister like Soldier Boy.Â
You knew he considered you dead weight. But as Grace had told him, her track record speaks for itself.Â
No, you werenât former SAS, like Butcher. You werenât CIA, or any other military alphabet soup. But if there was one thing you knew how to do, it was tracking people down.
You were currently flitting through Soldier Boyâs sham career: the shitty music videos, the starlets, the ticker tape parades, and what precious little there was about his beginnings: about âBen.âÂ
You did find out that his family was from Hartford, Connecticut, and stupidly rich too. You found his parentsïżœïżœïżœ names to go along with that.Â
And then it was a hop, skip, and a jump to him being unveiled as Soldier Boy. Â
âThat is curious,â you murmured.Â
âCurious about the worldâs most infamous granny fucker?â Butcher remarked. You slid him a wry look.Â
The fact that he tried to erase his past is interesting,â you said. âThe details that arenât here are just as important as the ones that are.â
Butcher hesitated a second, an ice-cold beer poised to his lips. He tipped it toward you in acknowledgement. âOn that, we actually agree.â
ïżœïżœïżœWhat do we know about his real life? Before he became Soldier Boy,â you asked.
Butcher sat down across from you and shaded in the details he knew, mostly about a disappointed father.Â
âDidnât get enough hugs as a lad,â he surmised.Â
You suspected he was understating the truth. If there werenât that many recorded accounts, pictures, or footage of Soldier Boyâs parents and home life, then he didnât want people to know.Â
Interesting, you thought. Eventually Butcher got up to run down another lead that came in via text from Grace. Frenchie came back from the kitchen and saw how intently you were staring at your computer screen, eyes rapidly scanning.Â
âAh,â Frenchie said, gesturing between you and the departed Butcher with a hand that held three alfajores cookies. âI see the same anal tenacity that fuels Monsieur Charcutier.â
You raised a brow. âMy tenacity is for the case, not Soldier Boy.â
This wasnât a vendetta for you. This was just business.
âFor money,â M.M. correctly guessed, but his eyes held no judgment. âBeen there.â
You sighed, smiling a little. Yes, you were doing this for money. They didnât need to know anything more than that.Â
You liked this team well enough, but this was a job. The way you protected your family, and yourself, was by not talking about them.
That night, Frenchieâs ordered âpackageâ arrived, courtesy of Grace. It was a healthy dose of Novichok gasâperhaps one of the only substances on Earth that could put Soldier Boy into a peaceful sleep.Â
Well, you didnât know if it was peaceful, exactly. But heâd be asleep. That was all any of you cared about.
âAt least itâs in proper containment this time,â M.M. said, examining the large cannister. Annie peered at it over his shoulder.Â
âI donât know. My shitty perfume case seemed to hold it just fine,â she quipped.Â
You smiled from your usual seat at your computer. Annie came over with a sandwich for both of you. It was from the cafĂ© down the street, and youâd been meaning to try it. Every time you stood out on your hotel roomâs balcony, you could smell fresh bread and smoked meats coming from the cafĂ©.Â
âOh, yeah. Howâs your sister?â Annie asked around a mouthful of sandwich. âSheâs in college now, right?â
She had a good memory. Annie had heard you on the phone with your sister before you all left last month. Youâd said one last goodbye, knowing it wouldnât be safe to talk once you were locked into this mission.
While you were reluctant to answer Annieâs question, the others seemed distracted in the kitchen, fighting over who ordered chorizo and who ordered steak on their sandwich.Â
Still, you lowered your voice, even as a proud smile graced your lips. âShe got into Julliard.â
Annie grinned and set her food down to give a little clap.Â
âShe starts in the fall, so a few months,â you added.
âAww, youâre glowing with pride,â Annie teased. And you laughed, but it was true. You wouldnât hide that you were very proud of your little sisterâs accomplishments.Â
âSheâs worked hard, and she deserves it,â you said. Though your eyes dimmed. âI just wish I could help her celebrateâŠsheâs on my case for taking this job.â      Â
Quite simply, she worried about you. You were good at your job, but you were still human. Sheâd seen you come home banged up and bruised more often than you cared to admitâŠ
Annie gave you a knowing look. âIf you donât want to be here, you donât have to. Iâm sure you can get other jobsââ
âGetting into school is just the beginning,â you said. âSheâs got four years to go. Then her masterâs. Hell, her doctorate if she wants.â
âThere are scholarshipsâŠâ
âItâs not enough,â you said with a sigh. Itâs never enough.
âAll right, lads,â Butcher said. He wiped his mouth with a napkin as he read off his phone. âThe new Strongest Cunt in the World has been spotted. Suit up.âÂ
âWhereâre we going?â you asked, closing up your laptop.Â
Butcher shot you a wink. âColumbia.â
While on the private plane, you were the only one still awake as you continued to watch the archival footage with your Airpods in. Reel after motherfucking reel of Soldier Boy.Â
You really were starting to get sick of his smug face. He was clearly a good actor, if nothing else.Â
But then you came across the Russia files.Â
Part of you didnât want to watch. You knew exactly what they were, and you didnât want to see anything that would make you sympathize with him in your mindâŠ
But your fatherâs training was ingrained in youâlike fingerprints on your skin. Like a vice grip around your throat.Â
Everything is relevant, always. Even if it isnât.
âŠThat, and maybe your own insatiable curiosity won out.Â
So you steeled yourself with a breath, and you hit the play button.Â
Gradually, your eyes widened.Â
You had seen awful thingsâas a private investigator at your fatherâs firm, and at Vought.Â
You had filled your quota of blood and death. And you had already seen the footage of Soldier Boy blasting a tower full of people in New York with the nuclear power now housed in his chest.Â
You also knew what he did to M.M.âs family. But after watching several minutes of Soldier Boy's torture, hearing his struggle, his outbursts of rage, the ragged gasps for breath, the clawing, traumatized sounds...
It was like stereo between your ears, and it was...too familiar. Too much.
So you finally turned it off, closing your laptop with an unsettled breath of your own.Â
And you were unable to sleep that night.
When you all finally arrived in Columbia, you and the team surveyed the wreckage in the casino.
It was a fucking blood bath.
As you stepped carefully through the wreckage of bodies and gambling chips, you looked for clues. Anything that might tell you about what Soldier Boy was doing here (though you could guess), and however unlikely, where he might go next.Â
You were disheartened to find the body of a young woman. Her big blue eyes were vacant, her blonde hair caked with blood from a head shot. On further inspection, you found a small room key in her hand.Â
With a sigh and a gloved hand, you took the key. But you also closed the girlâs eyes.Â
You kept looking while the others had fanned out in the opposite direction. When you came across a small table that wasnât turned over or splintered into fragments, you raised a brow. There was a napkin pinned to the top with a steak knife.Â
You yanked it out and examined the flimsy napkin. Noticing that youâd found something, Butcher came over to your side. He was much taller than you, fairly looming over your shoulder. You angled the note toward him.Â
Try harder.
S.B.
It was more than just a taunt.Â
It was the beginning of a game. And it made you smile.Â
âWhat the hellâre you smiling about?â Butcher asked.Â
âI like it when theyâre cocky,â you replied. Butcher shot you a sideways glance, one that said you were maybe more deranged than even him.
âAll supes are cocky bastards.â
You eyed him with a teasing grin. âOn that, we actually agree.â
True to Graceâs word, she provided you all with the full extent of the CIAâs resources. While Butcher tracked down the hotel of the room key you found, you and M.M. were able to tap into any and all local street cameras and map out the likely points Soldier Boy had hit in this cityâand where he could be going next. Â
According to the hotel manager, Soldier Boy had paid for a monthâs stay, but hadnât checked out after coming back for some of his belongings. The security cameras had caught him leaving his hotel room with a few menâarmed ex-military types, and possibly his new entourage.Â
But the trail ended there.Â
Over the next two months, Soldier Boy continued to be one step ahead of you in the chase.Â
Though his movements were calculated (disappearing like a coil of smoke whenever you caught his scent), he seemed to be taking an extended vacation surrounding strip clubs, casinos, and other likely destinations for sex, drugs, and money.Â
And heâd evaded capture after hitting at least three banks on his way out of the U.S. alone.
At the current crap motel of the week, you shared the couch with Kimiko and Hughie while you surveyed traffic cameras.
âWhatâs the likelihood that heâs even still in Columbia? In South America, even?â Hughie asked. It was a good goddamn question.
âWe have agents covering every major port and air hanger,â M.M. said. âIf he wants to escape the continent, heâs gonna have to fight his way out, or rent a dingy and float his motherfuckinâ ass across the Atlantic.âÂ
âI wouldnât put anything past him,â you remarked. âWhat connections does he have?â
It wasnât the first time youâd asked that question, but it was the first time you got a straightforward answer.Â
âWho knows,â said M.M. âHeâs an ancient fuck.â
âWho killed all his old friends,â Hughie supplied.
âWell, his team, to be fair. I donât think he ever had friends,â Annie said. â...Plus his old girlfriend.â
âWhat a spectacular bonfire that was,â Butcher dryly quipped.Â
Nice, you thought, heavy on the sarcasm.Â
You sighed. Clearly, you all would have to be prepared for anything.
When you werenât pouring through surveillance, you took to the streets with Annie, playing the part of American tourists.Â
âSoldier Boy donât know who the fuck you are,â Butcher had reasoned. Heâd then pointed at Annie.
âHer fame as Starlight can get you two into whatever bar, club, or fuckhole that mightâve let him in. Sheâll park it at a table, attracting attention. Meanwhile, youâll circle around and look for him.â
It was actually a sound plan, and you could be a decent actor yourself. This wasnât the first time youâd adopted a role to find your target, and on this mission, it probably wouldnât be the last.   Â
Well, a week later, the plan worked. You and Annie encountered a woman at a bar who waited tables at a nearby club, in Medellin. Sheâd served Soldier Boy just last night.Â
Medellin was considered the party city of Columbia, and for good reason.Â
Butcher had cleverly found your âdisguiseâ for tonight, though you hadnât liked the smirk on his bearded face when he gave you the shopping bag.Â
It turned out to be a semi-legal black leather dress, along with thigh-high boots possessing a sharp heel. Annieâs dress was just as short, and gold. With her blonde hair and shimmering makeup contrasting your black dress and smokey makeup, the two of you looked like night and day. Light and dark.Â
While Hughie manned surveillance in a rented van, parked outside the club, the rest of the team had found strategic points to cover in the club: M.M. was at the bar. Frenchie and Kimiko had found a table to watch the area in front of the stage, while Butcher was somewhere clinging to the shadows.Â
You followed Annie into the club. Once theyâd recognized her as Starlight, theyâd let her right in, and you by association. You didnât envy her fame, but you could admit, it had some perks.
Inside, the club was dark and loud, and packed with people and streams of colorful light bouncing off the walls. This isnât going to be easy.Â
Both of you scoped the area subtly before joining M.M. at the bar.Â
Well, you two found your own opening further down. Sitting next to him would be too obvious.  Â
You subtly pressed a finger to the communicator in your ear while Annie ordered drinks.Â
âItâs gonna be hard to find my own ass in here,â you said to the team. You scanned the place and noticed an entire second and third floor. âThis place is huge.âÂ
âThen get crackinâ, love,â Butcherâs voice reached you. You resisted the urge to roll your eyes. But you did take the vodka martini Annie offered you.Â
âAh, you beat me to it,â a man said, his richly accented voice hovering near your ear. You turned your head and had to lean back a bit. You were met with blue eyes, tan skin, and an attractive smile. The man tipped an imaginary hat, letting his shoulder-length dark hair dip into his eyes.Â
âGood evening, mi vida,â he said. âI was gonna buy you a drink, but I see youâve got one. Mind if I finish my beer with you?â
Inwardly you wanted to sigh, but you gave a flirtatious smile to keep up appearances. âSure.â
âWhere are you from?â he asked, and with a more teasing smile. âIâm having a hard time placing your accent.âÂ
You affected a giggle. âOh, really? You mean I donât have a massive, neon sign over my head that says, âAmerican Tourist?ââ
âWell, maybe not neon,â he joked. âIâm Antonio.â
âIâm Jess,â you lied, shaking his hand. He turned it over and pressed a kiss to the back of your hand. Annie raised a brow behind you, but she sipped her drink.
Antonio mustâve been a local. His dark blue buttoned-down shirt, jeans, and boots were more casual than the obvious tourists with their flashing finery. And by his accent, you could guess that he was at least Latino. Columbian, most likely.
You were able to subtly dodge the question of exactly where you were from. And the two of you flirted for a few minutes while you continued to survey the people passing by, scanning the gaps between bodies.
When Antonio finally asked you to dance, you agreed. It would get you further into the club with a better excuse than walking around aimlessly. You turned to Annie.
âCatch you later?â you asked. She tossed you a wink.
âYeah, girl. Have fun!â
You smiled and let Antonio lead you to the dance floor. But you discreetly used every movement to your advantage, looking beyond your dancing partner to continue your search. If Soldier Boy was here, you would find him.
âHeâs not here,â said Antonio. It actually managed to jerk you out of your focus.
âWho?â you asked, feigning confusion.
âWhoever youâre looking for that isnât me,â he said, injecting a fair bit of charm into his voice.Â
You actually felt your face warming up at that. The way he was looking at you now, there was very little doubt as to what he wanted. His grip on your hips tightened.Â
Part of you was getting impatient with this part of the game, but at the very least, he was a good dancer. He pulled you effortlessly through the cumbia, Columbian salsa dancing, even if he was starting to sweat on you.Â
But now, you could almost swear someone was watching. Though it mightâve been the sweat dripping down your spine, you felt that strange prickle on the back of your neck.
Well, besides Annie. You knew she was keeping an eye on you from the bar, as were Frenchie and Kimiko as they joined a poker game in the far corner, away from the dance floor.
Your gaze continued to flit through every corner of the room between spins and the movements of your feet and your hips.Â
But when Antonioâs hands started get a bit too familiar with the curve of your ass, you took his hands and used them to spin yourself. He brought you back in tight. A bit too tight.
âCome on, babyâŠâ he whispered in your ear.
And you felt his hand slide up the inside of your thigh. He even had the audacity to try and slip past the lacey front of your underwear.
Thatâs when your patience snapped.Â
You grabbed his wrist and âaccidentallyâ drove your heel into his foot. With precision you felt it land between two vertebrae.Â
The girlish yelp he made brought a flicker of a smile to your lips, but you covered it with a doe-eyed look and many bumbling apologies.Â
âOh, Iâm so sorry! Are you okay?â
He all but shoved you as he limped away, cursing you in Spanish. Youâd taken four years of it in high school, and you still only caught half of it. Â
Hiding your smile, you walked away and pressed a discreet finger to the comm in your ear.Â
âThe stage front is clear. Scoping the back.â
âWait for me,â Annie said. She was still sitting at the bar. âI think you broke that guyâs foot.â
âHe had tenacity,â Frenchie remarked.
âAll balls and no brains, as usual,â you muttered. âStay there and look shiny, Annie. Heâs less likely to recognize me, but he might come out to play if he spots a familiar face at the bar.â
âSheâs right,â Butcher said to Annie. âStay where you are.â   Â
You made your way to the bathroom and scoped the hall. There in the privacy of the shadows, you adjusted the gun holster on your thigh. It was a miracle Antonio hadnât felt it.Â
Not that a gun would do much against Soldier Boy, but you didnât feel right without it.Â
Then you kept moving and dodged various couples making out (and more) on your way upstairs.
âGoing up,â you informed the team quietly. The second floor was a series of rooms, none of which you wanted to pop in on without an invitation. But after you made it to the end of the hall, you turned a corner and noticed a door hung open a crack. Sliding it open, you found a wall of music there to greet you.
But that wasnât all.
Inside was a room of people drinking and drugging and generally doing things to one another. You didnât want to go in, but you wouldnât put it past Soldier Boy to get caught up in a mass orgy.Â
You walked through the room, only taking in what you needed to with your eyes.Â
Focusing on the far wall, you saw a leather chair by the window, with a still smoking cigar laid to rest in an ash tray on a small table. Your head tilting with interest, you went over to the table and found another hand-written note.Â
Once again, you sighed. âHeâs not here, guys. He bounced.â
Once you all regrouped with Hughie outside the club, you handed the note to Butcher with a grimace.
âYou have a love letter,â you said. And Hughie too.
With a wry brow raise, Butcher looked down at the scrap of paper.
Butcher, youâll die first. Then the cum-guzzler.Â
S.B.
That night at the hotel, after you'd showered and peeled off that ridiculous dress, you poured over the Soldier Boy files again.
You hadnât touched the Russia ones since that first night, but you knew you were missing far too much. In order to anticipate his moves, you needed to understand how he thought.
You couldnât do that if you didnât even have the full picture of who he was. And the movies, the silly music videos, even the exploded skyscraper and Homelanderâs deathânone of it told the full story of Ben.Â
It didnât tell you what he wanted. What he cared about. Why he was playing cat and mouse instead of just taking his stand, like his soldier persona wouldâve demanded of his pride.
Or maybe that pride's just like everything else: a well-crafted costume.
A knock at your door jolted you out of your thoughts.Â
You got up to your feet, briefly looking down to make sure you were decently dressed (you supposed pajama shorts, a bra, and a tank top would suffice). You grabbed your gun and checked the peephole before you answered the door with a smile.
It was M.M. with a mug of tea for you. âI knew youâd still be up, killinâ those files. Itâs almost morning, you know.â
You accepted the mug with a warmer smile. Â
âAw, you do care,â you quipped. He rolled his eyes.Â
You laughed a little. âSeriously, thank you.â
He pointed at you.
âGo to sleep,â he said. You raised two fingers to your temple in salute.Â
âSir. Yes, sir!â you joked. Really, you appreciated his concern. After hearing many a story about his daughter Jennine, and seeing how the rest of the team respected him, you knew that he was a good man.Â
And thanks to him and Annie, you were actually starting to feel like part of this team.
After you wished him goodnight (or good morning, at this rate), you closed the door to your hotel room, followed closely by your laptop.Â
You took out your phone, silently contemplating what time it would be in New York right now.
Well, it would still be very early in the morning. But you thought it was worth a try, since you had the time.
You dialed your sister, Luisa. While it rang, you remembered just how thin these hotel walls were. So you stepped out to the rickety balcony. Jeez, hope it holds my weight throughout this call.
When your sister eventually answered, she murmured your name sleepily in confusion.
âHey, sorry for waking you up,â you said, feeling bad.Â
âItâs okay.â She yawned. âI should be up soon anyway. Got 8 am classes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.â
âEch. Screw that shit,â you teased.Â
âYouâre the one sweating balls in South America.â
âIâd rather be drowning in my own sweat than listening to some old bag drone on for eight hours,â you volleyed back, and leaned against the balconyâs railing, even as it creaked suspiciously with your weight.Â
âYou, my friend, are uninspired. You mean to tell me mosquitoes and drug cartels are better than Mozart?â your sister asked incredulously. Her sleepy voice was starting to lose some of its gravel as you two fell into familiar bickering.Â
âWow, way to type cast. Not all of South America is about drug-running,â you pointed out.Â
âArenât there, like, entire shows about people shoving cocaine up their ass to get from Columbia to Miami?â Luisa asked.Â
ââŠYes, but thatâs not the point,â you said with a giggle. âAnd good guess. Iâm actually in Medellin right now.â
âAre you supposed to tell me that?â
âNot really, no. But I donât think youâll sell me out to the cartels,â you joked. Or to the Russians, your mind added. That thought made your lips twist sourly.Â
âAnyway, are you okay? Howâs school, really?â
âItâs good, sis. You know Iâm good. Iâm worried about you,â she countered, and you could hear the concern in her voice.
âYou know me. Iâm always good,â you replied with good humor. The silence on the other line told you that you hadnât been quite convincing enough.Â
âWhen do you think youâll come home?â she asked.
For what seemed like the hundredth time that night (or morning), you sighed. âThatâs hard to say.â
The answering silence told you even more about your sisterâs thoughts, and you felt guilty for it.Â
âIâm happy just knowing youâre doing so well. With school, starting your adult life, doing your thing,â you added. Â
âYou need to start thinking about yourself,â she told you.
âWhat do you mean, Lou? Iâm fine.â
It was Louisaâs turn to sigh.
âYou know, I was so proud of you when you decided to leave Vought," she said. "When you finally got out from under Dad. When you started working at Supe AffairsâŠyou seemed happy, like you were finally proud of yourself too.â
Emotion started to burn behind your eyes. Part of it was probably sleep deprivation, but you heard the sincerity in your sisterâs voice.
She just knew you so well. And she wasnât lying thereâwhat sheâd said was all true of you. But after the joke that was Victoria Neuman running Supe Affairs, you didnât know what you could trust anymore.Â
Maybe not even your own judgment.Â
âBut I really wish that youâd consider more than just your work,â Luisa said. âLike a hobby. Take a painting class. Go to karaoke, like we used to do in grade school after Choir practice. You have such a beautiful voice! Like Grandmaâs was.â
âIâll leave the performing to you, Lou,â you said with a chuckle. She was serious, however.
âWork isnât everything,â she reminded you. Now her voice was firm. âYou should go out with your friends. Go out with Annie! Rub shoulders with her celebrity friends.â Â
âRight.â You huffed a laugh. Youâd been around plenty of famous supes while at Vought. Youâd ran down the leads and tracked down the criminals, just for the supes to swoop in and âsave the day.â You did the grunt work, and they claimed the credit.Â
Youâd had enough of âcelebritiesâ to last you a lifetime.Â
âMaybe then youâllâand let me not shock you hereâmeet someone,â Louisa said. âAnd finally put an end to that goddamn dry spell. What's it been, like three years?âÂ
âAll right, all right.â You held up a hand of surrender, even if she couldnât see it. You were grateful she couldnât catch you blushing. âThatâs enough about my non-life, thanks.âÂ
You shook your head. Embarrassment actually clawed inside your belly.Â
Yes, it had been a while since youâd actually been with anyone, relationship or otherwise. You just didnât have time to have a life, youâd reasoned. Working at Vought had been grueling, and your hours at the S.A., while better, were still demanding.
âŠStill, you could appreciate that your work-life balance left much to be desired. And that was on you.Â
Case in point, you were on this job.
You tipped your face heavenward, letting the sunrise spill some warmth on your face.Â
âButâŠI hear you, okay?â you replied with your eyes closed.Â
âYou do?â she asked suspiciously.
âYeah. When I get back, IâŠIâll work on it, okay?â you said. âBut I love you.â
âLove you too, sis. I should probably get going, butâŠplease be safe.â
âAlways,â you promised.
After you hung up, you finally opened your eyes.Â
That prickly feeling was back, almost like you were being watched.
You scanned around, but your human eyes didnât find anything out of the ordinary in the sunshine pouring in between the rows of buildings.Â
In fact, you didnât see a damn thing that wasnât supposed to be there.
So you clutched your phone to your chest, letting out a deep breath. Then you headed back inside.
But mere feet above you, if you had only looked up to the roof, you wouldâve seen a hunter lazily eyeing his prey.
AN: Ok! So a little bit slow in this chapter, but itâs all important setup.
In the next chapter, the reader meets Soldier Boy:
You laid a hand on his chest, fingers spreading between the open buttons, and felt his warm skin.Â
He glanced up at you with another challenging tilt to his head. What are you gonna do now?
You met that challenge, boldly leaning down to press a kiss against his lips.

yes, MM, go beat up that motherfucker for brainwashing your daughter!!! seriously, he's her father, if he's not okay with her learning about all that stuff, Todd should respect that - in an ideal world - (and again, where the fuck is Monique and what does she have to say about this)
Kimiko and Frenchie are the cutest, I love them so much đ„ș
okay, that message made me tear up, if she chooses it, I love that she's getting her powers back (she's a badass regardless haha)
oh shit temp V - an untested drug they were blindly taking - has horrible side effects who would've thought đ€đ I hope Butcher and Hughie will be fine anyway đŹ
oh my fucking god Soldier Boy did that to Black Noir đ± wow I feel so bad for him
okay, Monique is not okay with this, that's a relief - please leave his ass
Todd is fucking brainwashed and I'm so happy MM at least punched him (can Todd die or can Monique at least leave him please)
I knew Annie was recording oh my god that was so smart, I cannot fucking wait to see what's gonna happen with that đđ

Seiko is going to be so disappointed when she tries to slash at something with the blade of a Shen Gong Wu and it just phases through and she realizes the hard way that Dashi refuses to make a normal sword that can hit things
haha I almost forgot swords in xs can't be used as regular swords oh no my bad xD yeah! Seiko would be as confused as Rai and I think he would try to cheer her up, by saying: Sis, been there done that failed miserably lemmie explain the nature of the Sword of the Storms.
The conversation goes more or less like that:
Seiko: A sword, which doesn't work?
Raimundo: Oh, yeah. That's because this sword can't be used for psychical attacks.
Seiko: (Seiko.exe stopped working) (then she proceeds to frown, gives back the wu to Rai, and looks at her beloved weapon)
Seiko: I hate it. Dear Katana you're the only weapon I can truly rely on <3
__________________
I bet she would complain to Kimiko too đ
Seiko: Kimiko, my dearest friend, why did the master of masters make useless swords?
Kimiko: I dunno. you can ask Dojo. He knew Master Dashi personally.
Seiko, kneeling down: Dear wise dragon please quench my curiosity. Why did your human comrade commit such an unforgivable crime against weapons and swordsmiths all over the world?
Dojo, removing cookie crumbs from his bed pillow, taken aback by the question: Well, I think it has something to do with the fact wind isn't within the Wuxing cycle of nature.
Seiko: Yeah I get it it was specifically designed for dragons of wind, but still it's unfair.
Dojo, stuttering: yeah! I've told him it's stupid but he never listened!
Seiko: Kimiko, I'm getting the impression that 'Dashi' was either a complete fool or a massive troll.
Kimiko, giggling: Actually, 1500 year-old-folks make a similar comparison, so maybe you're very close to the truth!

Seiko when Komori Sword has revealed itself: Hell YES!
Omi: I'm so sorry Seiko-chan, but it's not a combat shen gong wu :(
Raimundo: It appears it's my element again!
Seiko: Life is not fair and I don't like Master Dashi. đ
#ask#tbh it's late at night now and I almost forgot the wind element wus serve only the magical function hence they cannot be used in battle lol#so yeah Seiko would hate it.#however i stand my point that card game shen gong wu would be her fav. Because She can attack ppl with her katana IN THE DARK.#additionaly she would serve blows from the ceiling so that's a power move!#seiko#geez rai why did master dashi let you have all the sword wus lol#seiko and saga of utter disappointment in Dashi's wu concept choices xD

The Juicy t.e.a.
A Leopard Canât Change Its Spots
Anonymousâ Certainly we should have expected this behavior from a young noble, out on town. But not Duchess Jaela Abdi-Walker. Or⊠are we merely shocked it took her this long to provide us with another scandalous set of photos?
We know one things from these photos: clearly, the rumors of separation from Drake Walker are clear. Abundantly. Thereâs no ring on her finger, and certainly, her actions as demonstrated say anything other than âmarried and in loveâ.
What we donât know from these photos: We see that this gentleman has two hands. How come we only see one in pictures three-six?
Funny.
Itâs a good time to admit we expected more from the Duchess, truly, an overseas embarrassment to Cordonia, her family, her estranged husband, this gentleman, to herself, and most certainly to King Liam. Trying to relive some past times, Duchess?
*
Jaela kisses the stranger, desperate, almostâno, sheâs desperate for somebody to want her like he used toâbodies moving to the beat around them, but sheâs lost to this manâs rough kiss. She pulls on his lip and they open their eyes, desire there. âDid you always kiss your husband like this?â he breathes, lips upon her neck, his hand sliding in between them, down her body. She grinds her hips against his, smirking.
âUsed to,â she says, nipping his pierced earlobe. âThen he didnât want to anymore.â
âShame,â the man say, Jaela gasping when he sucks on her neck. She presses his head closer, urging his lips to kiss her harder, for his hand to travel lower⊠and lowerâŠ. He lifts his head, tilting her chin up with one hand, thumb on her lower lip, his eyes only holding one thing: lust. Jaelaâs breath catches with his look under the swirling lights, his fingers at the waistband of her skirt, slipping under it, just a bit. Nobody notices them, right?

Homelander wants "Saving America" because he doesn't give a shit about the rest of the world, and because he's ready to destroy the rest of the world for his own benefit

Homelander vs Soldier Boy let's go!!! this is so great
YAS and Butcher's joining!!
I love Butcher so much đđ
this is so fucking cool
but Homelander is seriously VERY strong - takes three supes to barely hold him down? wow
they were so close đą but obvi they wouldn't kill Homelander in episode 6 đ I doubt they even will by the end of the season, what's gonna happen in s4 then? đ
aaand we're back with Frenchie and Kimiko!!
I knew she would feel that way when she was killing that guy đą poor baby, I just want her to be happy đđ (and Frenchie too) - the other characters, whatever, but Kimiko deserves all the happiness in the world lol
oh shit Starlight is gonna reveal everything đł oh, she's saying like everything everything đđ
