Racist and misogynist????? o_O

The misogyny part is the fact that the important cast has been all male for two movies and a tv show (at least, probably gonna be three movies considering that we have not seen any hint of a hint about rouge or amy being included in the third movie although i am hopefully wrong about this) and even with the movie original human characters, Maddie gets to be important for like 2.5 seconds in the second one but it's Tom getting the emotional arcs, Tom bonding with Sonic, Wade being the important human in the Knuckles series, Gerald (allegedly) getting a bigger role in movie 3 while Maria is presumably still going to die- like there is a pattern forming here.

The racism comes from Maddie and Rachel and Jojo just all being consistently shoved aside for white male characters even in cases where it doesn't make any sense. Like the Knuckles series is supposed to be about Knuckles learning about family or why staying on earth is important (or something like that, I've only seen it once and by the end I was thoroughly dissociating and barely paying attention) but instead of learning that with his actual found family when they had Tika Sumpter (Maddie's actress) in the show. Even if they just wanted to stick with humans so they didn't have to spend money on animating CGI creatures, wouldn't sticking Knuckles with Maddie make the most sense, especially after the first episode where she's angry with his behavior and trying to explain to him what's going wrong?

It's not the most egregious bigotry ever, primarily based on exclusion and prioritization of certain demographic groups instead of any active malice. And when discussing this I feel like it is also important to point out that the Knuckles show did make a deliberate attempt to include Jewish people and that should be congratulated. But the bigotry (and the fact that the company is pro-Israel) is still present and needs to be pointed out.

A really interesting part of the movie’s commentary track (with Ryan and Shawn) is when they discuss Logan’s monologue in the Honda Odyssey. Ryan mentions that you can see a flicker of regret in Logan’s eyes after he finishes insulting Wade. Shawn adds that at that exact moment, Logan is thinking, “Did I go too far?”
