If Jon and Rhaegar WERE to sneak out into the city somehow, for some reason, would Rhaegar get them lost again? It would be randomly fun if they ran into, like, a nice Hugh Hammer who thinks they're bastards because of their hair colors and so feels a sort of kinship with these little lost children who are close in age to his own daughter. (Or Ulf, I guess, but I feel like Ulf would care less about protecting lost kids and more about, idk, proclaiming them as his bastard nephews or something, lmao. Silverwing would likely need to pick a different rider in the future in that scenario...) Do you think Daemon would find them because a goldcloak locates them, or because Rhaegar starts singing for the smallfolk (would he have canonically done this already as he was only fourteen?), or because Jon kicks somebody who tries to touch Rhaegar's pretty, pretty hair and thus creates a scuffle/chase/brawl, or in yet another way? I'd be eternally amused if Erryk and Arryk, on their ONE DAY OFF, go out to drink together as brothers, only to see Jon and Rhaegar sneaking through the streets like the little troublemakers they are. And why do you think would Jon and Rhaegar would be motivated to sneak out of the keep at all, when they know that doing so will drive their father's blood pressure up to insane levels? Are they investigating something? Following someone? Lured out? Looking for a birthday gift for their father? Just trying to stretch their legs after being locked in a tower for so long? Literally get lost in the tunnels and can't find their way back into the keep Arya-style?

FINALLY, in the reverberate au, how would this scenario differ? (Toddlers lost in the walls, oh dear.)

Oooohhhhh dear. Rhaegar would probably be able to successfully lead them out into the city without an issue--the main problem is that some passages within the keep seem either inaccessible, differently accessible, or not built/finished. (There are also a handful that didn't exist by Rhaegar's time!)

They would have to go out in disguise, however, because pretty much anyone who looks at Rhaegar in one of his princely outfits is going to assume he's the king's son, Aegon. (It's not an uncommon misconception even within the Red Keep, since he very much acts the part of a crown prince. Just don't let Daemon catch you making that mistake!) And Jon might be mistaken for Jace, for those who aren't quite sure how old Rhaenyra's son is!

I love the idea of them running into the Cargyll twins who cannot escape these troublemakers. The reeeeaaaal question is: do Jon and Rhaegar make a run for it?

If not the Cargyll twins, Ulf or Hugh would definitely be putting their lives on the line interfering with the twins, even in a "nice" way. 😂

Really, it all comes down to which section of the city they venture into. Flea Bottom is, uh, dangerous. Especially for two pretty little boys in finery wandering around. (And even not in finery! No one to miss them, and there is a healthy black market slave trade pipeline to outgoing ships headed to Essos.)

If they are closer to the Red Keep, aka where the nice shops and houses are, they're probably more likely to run into Erryk and Arryk, and less likely to encounter trouble. Just as likely that a Goldcloak who's seen them before in the Red Keep barracks recognizes them and tries to gather them up before Daemon realizes they're gone and goes ballistic.

At present, they're quite aware of the dangers they face, especially with their kidnapping still so recent, so I don't think they'd sneak out intentionally of their own accord just yet. This would have to be a few-months-down-the-road deal, when guards are lowered.

There are still a few circumstances I could see them finding themselves out in the city:

They are worried about Daemon and are trying to help him in some way, and sneaking out is the only way to do so.

A situation like Aegon trying to sneak out to the Dragonpit, and they tag along to keep him safe.

As you suggested, they're lured out in some way.

They are on a supervised excursion and separated in some way.

The real question, of course, is just how large the blast radius of Daemon's panic-fueled explosion ends up being.

What’s your OTP for your Muse(s)?

I don't have many because I'm a multishipper. For like, fandom, non-rp content, you have R.omy and A.nidala. That's it. A better question is notp and that's r.ogueneto, I will not be writing it, I filter it to keep it off my dash. But there's all kinds of options for shipping with my muses because I don't have a 'i will only write this one ship' for any one character.

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?

A lot. It really just depends on how comfy I am with the mun and how much we've developed our muses' relationship. Sometimes the muns I've known for a while can just chuck new ideas at me and we just go head first without development but that's a case by case kind of deal. Brakes start pumping for pregnancy stuff mainly because I don't do fetish content for free, that's a paid service you will not find here- long time partners only. Cheating is a nope, just have no desire to write it. I don't mind other toxic situations, or messy open situationships, but flat out cheating just rubs me wrong. And nothing involving a.b.o. Just, no thank you.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

I ship r.ogan, so clearly age gaps don't bother me lmao. It's more power dynamics, and it's all fake anyways, just depends on the situation. Most of the muses aren't going for anyone much younger than them anyways, it's more older where they might raise eyebrows.

Are you selective when shipping?

A little bit yes, a little bit no? So I do like my ships of all types, not just romantic, but the ones that tend to the more steamy I am most comfy with established with for a variety of reasons. That's not to say sometimes I can't plot for more specific ship types early on with the right person, it just very much depends. Like, Sara/Warren with @wingedwarren was literally started off by a smut meme out the gate. I have never claimed there aren't exceptions they are just Rare AF and Highly Conditional.

How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?

I tag consertatively. Meaning if someone's boss or mom were to peep over their shoulder and might be scandalized, I've probably already tagged it as 'nsfw ish' unless we're talking Prude of the Year levels. Usually once things underneath clothes are being given attention, whether or not said clothes have hit the floor. I don't use the rating toggle because it can shadowban your blog and/or make it impossible to cut the thread. But I do tag.

I promise you won't be told a story with an answer, with some "here's how I fixed my life & the journey it took to get there" I promise that there won't be a "hope to get better" which makes now feel so stark in contrast. I promise I wont make it seem simple or linear or a sudden "aha moment" to make things suddenly seem clear.

What I promise is a story, to the best of my ability, where there are no weeds to pull. no seeds to plant, no fruits to pick. The garden will grow and die, change & cycle back to the beginning. Hahahaha ok ok ok I'm scared to look but I will. I have 696,369 words on Ao3. That is...so many. And there are way more unpublished!

So far, I have only written for Stranger Things, other than my one teaser chapter for a Buffy x Stranger Things crossover I really do hope to return to one day.

Honestly I don't write angsty endings!! I much prefer the happy ones. Closest I've got to angsty I guess is I'm counting the days to the rapture, depending on whose ending you focus on lol

Oh GOSH. Almost all of them end on a sugary sweet note, but I'll link flowers and ink because that whole thing is just fluff fluff fluffy fluff

Not really? And I'm super grateful for that because on the few times I've gotten semi rude feedback, it has totally plagued my brain hahaha. I'm thankful that so far nothing too bad. (Please nobody change that!)

I mean, I have, but I don't have anything 18+ on this account very intentionally.

I would, but I haven't really gotten it to stick! One chapter of my Buffy crossover is out, and I have a TLOU crossover idea in my drafts, and there's of course my nearly completed WIP Eddie Munson vs the World, but that's more of an inspired by and less of a crossover. By the way, everyone read that one because it's the most ridiculous thing I've ever written.

No, but AHHH that would be very cool.

Yes!! I co-wrote a Carrie AU with another fandom friend where Eddie was Carrie and Steve/Chrissy care for him and save him after the prom fiasco. It's on my friend's account, because it's got violence and other explicit content, but it really launched me into taking more risks in my writing!

I also started collabing with my bestie @steviesbicrisis on another fic, but then both of us got super busy. Sorry about that!

Me and @withacapitalp also came up with a banger idea for a collab last night so...we shall see!

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

Oh gosh, all time???? Oh, man. Steddie makes me feral to write, obviously, but to shake things up I'll add Spuffy and Literati (Rory and Jess from Gilmore Girls) into the mix.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

This is so tough because I have thing this where, if I publish a chapter, I HAVE to finish it. But!! There are many things in my WIP folder I don't think I will ever get to, including my Buffy crossover and the one where Dustin and Erica has a time-traveling daughter.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Just like my friend who tagged me, i think characterization and dialogue are my strong suits. It's what I get positive feedback on the most. I also think I'm funny though! At least, in the fics that are more silly lol.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Probablyyyy ummm descriptions? Yeah, that. I've gotten A LOT better about it, but I usually end up writing a lot of dialogue with minimal action because it's easier for me lol

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Okay, so I've done it, and it's TOUGH. It was for deaf Steve (tagged above, it's my most popular fic). ASL was especially challenging because it can't really be written down, so I had to get creative.

In one fic, any time a character spoke Russian, I just italicized it and made a note at the beginning that mean it wasn't in English canonically. I am not fluent in Russian, so I didn't want to risk relying on Google Translate! Plus, I'd have to write the English part anyway for readers.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I think. Technically. It was...ha ha, nope. I don't even wanna say it.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

This is so hard, they are all my babies and I put so much care into them! I'm gonna give a shoutout to Back to the Future (Hawkins Edition), as I always do. Now that it's been done over a year I can see the flaws in it and what I would have done different, but the amount of planning and thought and research I put in that thing deserves recognition lol. I think my current long project, we can be heroes (aka part 2 of deaf steve!), could take over as the biggest undertaking, though. But so far it's probably about equal lol.

   Veronica used to think she missed her long hair. Now, she wasn't so sure. Maybe she had been so used to it, that alternatives seemed non-existent. Right now, she couldn’t have been more wrapped up in loathing for long hair.

   Sharena… 

   It was all Sharena’s fault.

   The scent of her hair - and it was her hair - which was bothering Veronica but it conveyed such sweet innocence, such as vanilla and honey. Oh, it was delicious and oh, it got on Veronica’s nerves.

   Yes, it was all Sharena’s fault, Veronica decided as she stared at the ceiling with the trundle of endurance in her mind as she went around in circles begging either herself to ignore it and fall asleep or for Sharena to cease her restlessness. Sharena was all too free with her affection. She doled it out without a second though and with ridiculous excess. She was a blithe spirit and such a nature was both her boon and her bane. She saw the best, the glimmer of good, in everyone. Including her.

   Thank goodness.

   Veronica did not want to be on the wrong side of history - nor did she want to be on the wrong side of the bed, apparently. She wanted to do right by her country, her goddess, her foremothers, those near and dear to her heart such as Bruno and Xander and yes, now Sharena but right now.

   She was questioning her commitment to such ideals.

   Sharena, for all her gifts, was also quite annoying. Pfft, phooey. Veronica was getting mouthfuls of her hair. The more Sharena cuddled and snuggled, or more accurately wriggled and writhed, the worse it got for Veronica. All she could do was lay and stare at the ceiling whilst she endured all of Sharena’s frenetic energy that couldn’t even be quelled when she was deep asleep.

   The idea had been romantic at first and thus, Veronica had been lulled into a false sense of security.

   She had spent so many nights alone, cold and shivering no matter the weather, no matter how she buried herself under sheets and blankets. Her stone walled chambers were freezing but now, invited in the warmth of Sharena’s room, she was enthralled by her easy-going atmosphere.

   “It’s our first sleepover as girlfriends,” Sharena pointed out, “I don’t want to treat you like any old guest, or Hero, I want to be close with you. Please.”

   Veronica had been quiet at first. She felt undeserving of such love and forgiveness but her summoning was proof. She had become a heroine whom history would smile upon. The burdened princess who would continue onwards into a brighter and more glorious future, not only for Embla but literally hand in hand alongside Askr.

   Her relations with Sharena were the literal embodiment of such hope. So, she accepted it and the first hour or so of the night, shoulder to shoulder in Sharena’s queen sized bed, had been blissful.

   Until they weren’t.

   Now it seemed a lifetime ago.

   Sharena had fallen asleep so easily but Veronica was plagued by a peculiar insomnia. Part of it was her usual woes. Worries that kept her up and paranoid, spiralling well into the night but there were new sensations that kept her up now, too.

   She had never shared a bed before, not to her knowledge anyway. Perhaps she had been cuddled or spooned as an infant but that seemed so unlikely when she thought of how fraught with backstabbing her family was these days. So, Veronica enjoyed it.

   She liked how Sharena felt beside her. They were shoulder to shoulder, their pillows overlapped and sharing in the softest sheets. Sharena’s hand had intertwined with her own: their fingers interlocked. The warmth she emanated was intoxicating. The noises she made - her tiny whinnies here and there, her sleep talk - were adorable but all good things must come to an end, Veronica realised. After a while, the idiosyncrasies that she had been observing in Sharena with relish became sources of annoyance.

   All Veronica wanted was a night of peace. That meant quiet, that meant stillness, all things that Sharena could not provide as she proved to be quite a bothersome bedfellow.

   She rotated and rolled around, her long blonde hair dragged along behind her. She smacked her lips incessantly and changed positions every so often, wrestling left and right, away from Veronica or far too close to her. But it was definitely her hair which annoyed Veronica most of all.

   Veronica had only cut her hair somewhat recently. Or as recently as she could have considering the way timelines ebb and flow around the summonings amongst other shenanigans that caused time to be travelled but still. She had had long hair for as long as she could remember and she had taken good care of it. Yet right now, she was totally at a blank of when she would have caused these annoyances Sharena was giving her upon herself.

   Getting strands in her mouth, slapping either cheek with the lengths of it, or otherwise getting coiled inside of it. It was itchy and ticklish, every singular strand formed together to create a united front in the name of being a nuisance. This had to be a Sharena problem surely! Veronica could not believe otherwise as she racked her brains for what life had been life before her choppy bob cut had been enacted.

   It could go on no longer. Veronica could not tolerate it. Every wandering of her mind, going around and around in circles, getting lost in the cobblestone pattern of the ceiling and the shadows that cascaded across it, Veronica had her answer. It was the same conclusion every time.

   She felt a lump in her throat, a visible welt of guilt that she had to swallow as she disturbed Sharena. How dare after everything thus far.

   “Sharena,” Veronica piped up, “Sharena!”

   She reached across and jostled Sharena awake but that caused whole new problems. Sharena woke up slowly and groggily. She mumbled to herself, pawed at her eyes as she stirred. She got up and shook out her long hair, hitting Veronica in the process.

   Fantastic, she thought to herself as she bit her bottom lip.

   “Huh?” Sharena mumbled. “‘Ronica…? Somethin’ th’ matter?” Her voice was thick with sleep and utterly un-princess-like.

   It would have been cute were it not so offensive to Veronica’s strict sensibilities.

   “Yes. Something is the matter.” Veronica huffed.

   “Oh no,” Sharena gasped and she woke up a little bit quicker now that it seemed there was cause for urgency, “is everything alright?”

   “No. I can’t sleep. Because of you.” Veronica pouted.

   “Wha-? I mean, I’m so sorry.” Sharena stammered and then scratched behind her head. “Um, what did I do?”

   “This!” Veronica scolded her.

   She reached out and tugged on Sharena’s hair with a pout. Sharena was pulled along with an expression of wince then giggled guiltily. Veronica played, irritated, with Sharena’s hair. Tickling her cheek, demonstrating how itchy and scratchy the long blonde strands are.

   “How is anyone meant to sleep being whipped all over by your hair?” Veronica asked. 

   “Haha, oops.” Sharena said. She tried to gently free her hair from Veronica’s fingers but she didn’t let it slip through. Instead, she tightened her grip ever so slightly which made Sharena feel awkward. “I sleep with it out to give it rest since its a ponytail all day, just give me a moment.”

   “I didn’t mean to rouse you.” Veronica added. “I don’t want to sound selfish.” She still held Sharena’s hair but now, her fingers trembled.

   “Aw, it’s okay. I was inconsiderate without realising.” Sharena shrugged.

   “I mean, I think your hair is lovely, dearest,” Veronica said and her tone of voice softened, a small smile appeared on her face, “I think all of you is beautiful but I do like your hair best of all. I envy it a little given the circumstances of my recent haircut, I do miss my hair being this length or longer…”

   “Oh, Veronica…” Sharena murmured.

   Veronica’s eyes fluttered closed and she brought her hand closer to her lips. She kissed the strands of Sharena’s sunshine-coloured hair through her bony knuckles. The affection was fleeting as she finally let go of Sharena’s hair. The strands, soft as silk, ran through her fingers and Sharena collected them up in turn.

   With a sweet smile, Sharena wordlessly tied her hair up. Veronica watched, coyly. Her heart was full with all her desires for peace and coexistence, on a large scale and even a scale as small and intimate as this one. Sharena finished up and without a mirror, or even a lamp, she had a lopsided bun now atop her head but that was good enough.

   Veronica patted the pillow, “Come, love, let’s try again.” she suggested.

   “Sounds good to me.” Sharena replied.

   They returned themselves to bed, burying down in their sheets and blankets and doona cover and, of course, each other. Veronica snuggled in, tight, to Sharena’s chest and Sharena held onto her in turn with a wonderful embrace. She kissed the crown of Veronica’s head then wished her good night.

   “I like your short hair, Veronica,” Sharena mumbled, already sounding sleepy once more, “sweet dreams.”

   “Sweet dreams, Sharena.” Veronica returned all her sentiments and more, closing her eyes and, for the first time in a long time, she easily fell deep asleep.

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hmm, I have several fics which end on a bittersweet note, but none that I think are completely without hope? Deer Heart is probably one of the most emotionally violent fics I've written, but even that one ends on a hopeful note (at least I see it that way.)

A main character dies in the last instalment of The Stars 'verse, but someone bookmarked it with the comment " the hurt no comfort tag is propaganda bc this does hurt yes but there IS comfort and thats because there is love :') " which was honestly a comment that made * me * tear up ! :')

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

HUGE fan of cloyingly sweet endings for my blorbos, but I do think I end up in the bittersweet column most times? But I guess "Instructions for Dancing" may be literally the fluffiest thing I've ever written.

Do you get hate on fics?

No- I think an occasional comment that made me go ???? because the reader apparently wanted something different when they clicked on my fic, but no real hate, thankfully. I've been blessed with really sweet commenters for most part!

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! Not sure what is implied by "what kind" here- hopefully hot (but also revealing something about the characters and the relationship?!) ? :)) Tbh, smut is not my wheelhouse, and I always find the process of writing it nerve wracking.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

It's not something that I find interesting to read or write usually. I have one unfinished and unpublished Black Sails/ Supernatural crossover that I think was a brilliant idea but I ran out of steam.

What's your all-time favorite ship?

I love all my ships intensely, so it's hard to choose! Even if I'm not thinking about them on a daily basis or writing for them or reading fic about them, each of them has a piece of my heart.

What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Argh, don't ask me this! There are so many, so many. But in specific, there's a Black Sails au that I really wanted to write and have written maybe 15k of AN OUTLINE for, but yeah, never finishing that.

What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm generally able to deliver an emotional punch very well.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Oh dear. Everything? And I think that's fine- all craft is practice and discipline and I hope I will get better at "everything" as I write more and hopefully more thoughtfully than I have in the past.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think there's only one fic in which I've used complete dialogue in multiple languages (with Google Translate as my guide, SORRY). But I'm pretty cool with the idea of it and I enjoy reading fics that have multiple language dialogues as well.

First fandom you wrote for?

On AO3 it was Supernatural , and was left unfinished- I have since deleted it.

Favorite fic you've written?

This keeps changing, and there's things I love and hate in all my fics, but I guess a drivingsideways "starter pack" should have Destiny's Child in it, and the last fic I wrote "Juche" turned out pretty well, I GUESS.

Episode 38: Happy Endings

I'm gonna be doing chores while I listen to these three episodes, so sorry if the notes get a bit brief.

This Hilbert and Doug morality debate is funny because it's literally one actor debating with himself.

I'm sad Hera can't be a part of the group.

"2am"? How is it 2am? You're...you're not on earth. I understand keeping up with a schedule, but it's still a little weird, what time zone are they following?

The way Hilbert talks about Sam... it's like he has this shred of humanity left inside him that he's just gotten used to ignoring.

And Hilbert, I have a clear answer to your little "trolley problem": the decima virus is CUTTER'S property. He put that in your contract, or have you forgotten? Do you seriously think that man will be using it for the good of humanity? Because I don't.

I also feel like the "No one gets a happy ending/ there are no happy endings" think is foreshadowing. But I hope I am wrong.

IS THIS THAT WEIRD DOOR???? FINALLY! Bah-ha just shove him in! At least it’s not the airlock which is what I was expecting.

Easter egg? Cutter, this is the worst easter themed scavenger hunt I've ever heard of. Where are the chocolate bunnies? The jellybeans? The message of hope, love, and rebirth? But I suppose I should expect nothing else from the man who ordered the killing of three people on Christmas. Makes you wonder what Cutter has against holidays. Did mommy and daddy not give someone enough presents?

“The other crew has... gone away like last time” Cutter you suck. Seriously his villain mode does not have an off switch.

What does Cutter want with his brain? An old friend made this for him?? Is it the dude he killed or is it the Pryce person he wrote the book with? Makes me wonder where his mysterious friend is hiding. In the shadows at Cutter's right hand or six feet underground with a knife in the back? Not sure which is worse. I guess we'll see.

THEY CAN SCAN HIS BRAIN AND GET THAT KIND OF INFO? That...but...I...as someone who knows slightly more than average about how the brain works, Cutter needs to learn how to make better use of his tech. I cannot even BEGIN to tell you how much better his evil plans would go, if he focused on THAT instead of...oh I don't know...investing his money into elaborate dark rooms with evil dentist chairs and slow clap videos?

Also "Hera can't detect these secret rooms" HOW. HOW CAN SHE NOT THAT'S AN AWFUL IDEA: She flies the ship, she has to calculate for its size. It's science fiction, so let me be 100% clear, I'm not dumping on the creators or writers, I'm dumping on Cutter the character. You idiot.

Ugh this is awful because I can't tell if Hera's compliance with Maxwell is programmed or not! It's so scary that her free will can just be...programmed out.

I'm very worried about Hera. Is Kepler going to shut her down?

Hera needs to be okay. And I'm sorry if they have the tech for sentient AI, decima viruses, space travel, and who knows what else, that weird brain transmitting machine, then deafness should be totally curable by now, Cutter's just hogging the tech to himself like a psychopath. I hate him. I hate him so much. Cutter is the worst. I hope HE loses his senses. Almost all his senses. Except for pain. That's the only one he deserves to keep.

I hope Maxwell can save Hera. She has to! Hera can't die now. We already went through that, and she deserves to be happy.

But I do get the feeling that might not happen. For anyone.

You know, as I go back and edit this, I gotta say, in some ways Kepler is like an evil version of Doug. They both clearly like alcohol and substances (Kepler's "I like the feel of it in my hand" and Doug's "I just want to hold the cigarette"), but Doug wants to get better while Kepler clearly doesn't. "You're like this Whiskey see? I'd be sad without it but I'd be okay." And then he risks the life of his crew for it. You sure you don't have a bit of problem Whiskey boy? 👀

I'm chatty so it's easy for me, most of the time. Sometimes I just do little emojis. I know it stresses some writers out which is fair, but I like it, so I do it.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't really do angsty endings, but I guess Manpain Spiral of Solitude, which in fairness I do think the title warns properly that there might be angst. :)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

They are all doopy and happy but Backhoe maybe? Honestly, they are all so cheesy. Sometimes I am hard on myself like, "This fanfiction I'm writing is not esoteric or high brow or relentlessly grim at all" and then have to slap myself around. There's nothing wrong with happiness.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not really, though I have a few where the characters make particularly unimpressive decisions and those get some borderline negative comments, but most of my stuff is like, aggressively pleasing and my comments range from polite and supportive to deliriously charming.

Oh yes. The cheesy schmoopy kind full of yearning and feelings and lots of consent. I do like a sex scene where someone is a bit insecure or inexperienced, and their partner is like, "But I like you for you" and they communicate about their feelings and wants and then they are all more confident at their sex stuff, because, look, I'm a simple person with simple pleasures.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I keep threatening to do a Lord of the Rings / MCU-All the Avengers Live in the Tower Crossover and somewhere I have some notes about it. Bucky is VERY jealous of Aragorn, who keeps throwing looks at Steve, even more so when he realizes how jealous it makes Bucky. Natasha and Gimli get along very well and then Legolas is jealous of Natasha, so Legolas and Bucky end up sulking in the corner.

I don't want to say never. My Magic AU is going to be a long term thing. I don't want to give up on it.

Dialogue, and jokes, I think. I like writing kids.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Probably like, clarity of thought, consistency of voice. I re-read my shit and dear god, my adhd is so bad y'all. Particularly my one fic Tension and Tonic which is the only one I didn't have an outside beta spend literally hours making me sound comprehensible and it's really kind of embarrassing. I spend a lot of time trimming down and re-arranging to try and make it comprehensible, and then after like 6 edits, someone else looks at it and immediately points out 9500 places for improvement and then I have like 3 more people look at it. I think it's a double edged sword because the adhd helps me quickly come up with ideas but then a lot of the ideas need to be removed or re-arranged. I don't necessarily mind editing and re-editing, but it's a thing. Also my fight scenes could be better, and I am working on getting better at plot.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I enjoy it. I tend to look at reddit or other forums where native speakers are coming up with phrases they use to try for authenticity. I love dropping in what I hope will be little Easter Egg hugs for people of whatever background. Recently I worked with a graphic designer to add in some super wonky dialog and I hope it makes another graphic designer out there somewhere smile and feel seen.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Well, if we're going in the way-back time machine, I really liked Star Wars, in particular, the novels, in particular, the witch planet where all the babe-witches rode rancors. I wrote some fanfiction in early high school about them. Also Mara Jade, binches, fucking MARA JADE. She was like my first Bucky. So tragic, so sexy, so brainwashed, so competent.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

Oh it always changes. I'm actually pretty into the shrinkiclinks I'm working on right now which is kind of a spy thriller but also very cutesy and mundane. Monoclonius I think is my happiest, easiest to read fic? So maybe that one.

Oh, Nonny. Dunno if you're the same one, but do buckle in. This one promises to be extensive.

How do I love him? Let me count the ways. Aside from my first exposure to the Xmen, which got me into comics in the first place {one of my prized possessions is an in-plastic is Uncanny X-men #266. The first appearance of Gambit}. But being the person I have always been, it was magick that drew me in deeper and that's when I found, at the same time, both Stephen and Constantine.Yes, my two favourite wizards, by whatever name you wish to call them. Originally, I was so mad about Benny being cast, I almost boycotted the movie, but my gaming group decided to see it as a group and for a friend's birthday so I was obliged. I left the theatre in awe. He looked the part. He sounded the part. And for some hours {and years, clearly} later? I was a kid all over again, experiencing it like it was new. A wonder I haven't felt often in a long time. I also owe a dear friend of mine about a decade or so worth of apology because I didn't understand Benny's appeal...until his cheek bones cut the diamond of my wedding ring in half.

Prologue concluded, onto the show.

Matt's Stephen is absolutely perfect, even when he thinks he isn't. Upon us discussing plotting, I put forth the idea...which I had already sort of HC'd about 4 years give or take; that Beth *had* been at medical school to be a Neurosurgeon. That she'd gone to Columbia, and then dropped out during her residency {so technically she does have an MD, she's just not a doctor}, and I never stated why, but that this all happened around the time of Andy's 'death'. Which if we match up timelines, puts Stephen working at and lecturing for Columbia, around the time of the Chitauri invasion. Everything lined up for Beth being Stephen's student, and Matt ~gracious and generous to a fault~ agreed to let that be a case, giving them an almost instant rapport, as they would have by now known one another for years. And this is where everything becomes...complicated. Beth being who and what she is often needs time to even find someone attractive beyond whether or not they are aesthetically/artistically appealing. Check and check. She needs to bond with someone to feel the slightest bit motivated to want anything beyond friendly interaction and good heavens does that person have to be intelligent {the quickest way to a girl's heart is through her brain and/or empathy}. Again, check. She appreciates a wicked sense of humour, a compassionate or humanitarian soul, and it doesn't hurt when a person can keep up with her familial lifestyle, and her need to ditch it all for some time away from the cut-throat world of the .001% wealthy and ambitious. You can see where this is going. Stephen is, and was, literally the most perfect man on the planet. So why didn't...? Because she literally met him between the ages of 16-18, when he was already at least in his mid twenties, if not slightly older. She was also his student, and say what you like about Stephen, he isn't a predator. Yes he admired her brain. Was proud of her skill and her adaptability. Maybe even marvelled, pardon the pun, at how quickly she could pick up his wavelength, and be an extra set of hands and senses for him. The drive, the ambition, all of that maybe reminded him of himself. Stephen claimed her, when no one else would. But then she left him, without ever saying why. She sacrificed her life, her career, and any potential for the sake of not damaging his reputation, tarnishing his image, or being faced daily, hour by hour, second by second, the one person she couldn't love.

She really should have had a chat with him, is what I am saying. There is so much more I could say about this, that it could be broken into many parts of this length or longer, or go under a read more. I'm going to stop myself. In various verses, regardless of ships {respected and appreciated and loved even if the other mun doesn't know it} there really is no verse in which Beth doesn't love Stephen. As a friend, a mentor, as someone who believes in her when no one else would, with every ounce of soul she possesses. It doesn't matter the circumstance. Beautifully, tragically, I believe Stephen feels the same again, with respect and admiration, regardless of verse and romantic partner. {Some of the best ones are actually those in which say... Eddie and Beth are a couple, and Stephen is with Wanda or Sigyn and each is cheering the other on and sometimes giving unsolicited advice. Maybe especially these, like 15-Verse Stephen.} But yes. I stand by the "I love you, in every universe." {{?????/10 because I can't even}} {{I also blame Matt entirely}}

Ooh, these are two very interesting questions.

1.

I'm sort of working on something... By working, I mean writing notes in my notebook and trying to figure out how to tackle this idea ^^" I really want to write a Dresden Files/FPA crossover! (Let's see if by announcing it publicly I can successfully shame me into going through with it... I doubt it, but we'll try it...)

I've never actually written a crossover, so that's already a bit daunting. Having to juggle twice as many characters/ships as I would normally is also a challenge... Currently, I'm trying to decide what POV/s to use, and how not to make this too long. But I think it would be fun to draw some parallels between the characters, and it would also be fun to bring two of the fandoms I like together like this.

Another, perhaps silly consideration is that I now have 99 fics on AO3... To make the 100th one a little bit special would be cool. (Okay, that might not happen because I have already uploaded my Yuletide fic, and I'm not actually sure where AO3 will put it in the order of fics once the authors are revealed on Jan 1st...)

Anyway, wish me luck, I can tell you that Philes would very much be on the menu ;) 2.

You're asking me this because of the tags on my last fic, right? xD

Oh dear, where do I even start? I actually wouldn't say I have a well-developed opinion on this. And I think maybe it's better if we split it into two categories: what I think of past/present tense, and how I would decide what to use.

Just from vibes alone, I would say past tense is very comfy. It sort of "disappears" because we're so used to it. No one will be turned off by you using the past tense. You can do anything with it.

Present tense, on the other hand, feels a bit more intimate to me. It can work well for a more poetic tone. It has an urgency to it like you don't know what's going to happen. But it will also very much turn some people off ^^"

I will also add that if I'm talking about multiple layers of past events, the English past tenses can give me a bit of a hard time, so using the present tense can gloriously simplify that lol

I do like reading either btw, but how do I decide what to use when writing?

I use past tense 99% of the time. (I mean, literally. I think I have 98 fics written in the past tense, wrote one in present, and I'm pretty sure the next one will be in the past tense as well lol) So I’m no expert here, although I do have some WIPs where I also used present tense and I would totally consider experimenting with it more.

To be honest, there is only one scenario where I would opt for the present tense always, and it’s the 2nd person "you" fics... Dare I say: *whispers* reader-insert. Which is a whole different can of worms altogether that we are now opening.

Personally, in my opinion, if you think old forum role playing was cool but you think self-insert fic is cringe, that’s a *skill issue*. Luckily, I have mastered my destiny and overcame feelings of cringe lmao (I'm joking, you only read what you want, of course.)

What I mean is, I find it very charming how self-insert or reader-insert fic specifically about RPG games kind of circles back around to the roots of the “role-playing” in RPG. I might not read certain types of reader-insert fics, but I think they have their rightful place in fandom.

Now, getting back to the topic of present tense lol To me, sometimes certain things will just fit better for a fic. For example, when I started writing my first Dresden Files fic, I started writing it in 3rd person, because 1st person felt intimidating. But the canon is in 1st person, and something in me knew that it just had to be done that way for the right tone, you know? (It doesn’t mean you have to stick to the way canon is written, of course. It’s more about what fits better with the mood you are going for and what effect you want to achieve.)

Same thing with my last fic: the fandom I wrote it for uses present tense and uses 2nd person for the main character. Yeah, sure you can write an OC and write 3rd person, but the right vibe I was going for was begging me to use the present tense. So yeah, in a sense it was me wanting to stick more with the canon vibe, even if that challenged me. Which is interesting because usually it’s the other way around, no?

That is a really long way of saying I tend to stick to what is closes to canon. But I think you should always listen to your gut and just write how you like it better.

personally i don’t enjoy discussing stats (outside of word count) because i think it encourages comparison, even if unintentionally, and i used to struggle a lot with that. sort by kudos exists for the curious, of course, but i don’t want to go out of my way to emphasize stats

oh gosh, i used to be RELIGIOUS about replying to every single comment i received, but that's since become a bit unmanageable with my current work & life schedule. i'd like to get back to replying at least a little bit, though!!

i'm a happy ending girl through & through so i think the closest i have to an angsty ending is this tiny lil 1k leopika oneshot i wrote for the greed island server!!!

i was about to say that i've been fortunate enough never to get a hate comment BUT THEN i remembered how someone once wrote me a five paragraph essay (i'm not kidding) about how a character's behavior in a fic didn't make sense & was poorly written. god that was incredible

but on the whole, no, i'm quite quite lucky that i don't receive much negativity

i'm a very boring person & thus don't vibe particularly much with crossovers. the most i've done is like........ very vaguely fairy tale inspired aus & the like. i wish i were a more adventurous writer bc some of the stuff people come up with in crossovers is ridiculously creative

not a whole fic, but back in my bnha days, i had someone lift a scene literally beat for beat from a tddk fic of mine. i was a lot younger & less experienced in the fandom space back then, so i'm very glad, although perhaps a bit surprised, that i just closed the tab & moved on. life's too short to stress over that sort of thing

yes, one into russian & one into spanish on wattpad!!!!!! they both felt like such huge honors!!!!!!

i pay a ton of attention to the flow of my prose & really endeavor for the sentences to have a lyrical quality. outside of syntax, i think i'm quite good at describing physical & emotional experiences extremely vividly

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

i don't have enough fluency in my non-native languages to pull this off & i find it challenging as a reader, but i think just about any choice or device can work if it's serving a narrative purpose & doing so effectively

Damn, right now I’m thinking I can’t quite possibly get to five ships, but let’s see how we do!

1. Puzzleshipping (Yugi Mutou/Atem (Yami Yugi) from Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Look. I know it doesn’t look like it makes any sense, but I promise you it does. And even if that’s my biased brain talking, that’s fine. These two were my first ship, more than fifteen years ago, at this point, and I legitimately and literally owe them my life. They will always hold a very special and very dear place in my heart.

2. The Ineffable Husbands (Aziraphale/Crowley from Good Omens)

I read the book like half a year before the show aired and thought there was a lot of potential there, but told myself not to get my hopes up. Then the show came out and fucking blew me out of the water, and now I have these two dumbass idiots tattooed on my arm. The pining! The yearning!!! YOU GO TOO FAST FOR ME, CROWLEY!!! Excuse me while I go cry. Also, “ineffable husbands” is just a cute af title, don’t @ me.

3. Linus Baker/Arthur Parnassus (from The House in the Cerulean Sea)

I read this book last year and it took over my life. Linus just called to me as a character, and I related so hard to him from the very first chapters, and it was just an absolute delight to follow him on his journey to finding the love and family he wants. The way these two love each other just does things to me, man, I’m only human!

4. Achilles/Patroclus (specifically from Hades)

Listen. LISTEN. I was obsessed with Greek mythology as a teen, so when Hades came out, I bought it only after I found out that there was a side-quest for reuniting Achilles and Patroclus in the afterlife. Their devotion to each other has pushed me to tears on occasion. Besides, I’m of the mind that old gay men deserve to be happy and to make out as much as they want to.

5. Alex Claremont-Diaz/Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor (from Red, White & Royal Blue)

I have become OBSESSED with this book and with this couple specifically. They fall into bed before they fall in love, but when they fall in love? It is WILD, and INTENSE, and it honestly made me so fucking happy because I’ve rarely read the kind of love story they have, and the fact that it’s a queer love story just watered my crops and (temporarily) cured my depression. I have spent my free time reading fanfics for these two for like the past three weeks. A month? Time is unreal, but you get the idea.

askldjfgh but to make a new one on the spot. well it's not really mine bc it's in mayoi but i neeeed more thief dazai and detective chuuya. except everyone in the agency is also a thief and they pull heists together and it's great and chuuya is fighting for his life bc he keeps running into them right as they leave the scene but they never leave any evidence behind so he can't actually do anything about it. also to spice things up i want it to have some weird hidden identity stuff like dazai always wearing a mask during heists and thus chuuya is unable to recognize him when they meet somewhere outside, perhaps even start dating, up until a certain point (where he like. saw thief!dazai get injured during a heist. and then he sees the same injury on him later. or something like that) and then it turns into chuuya in conflict on whether or not he can trust dazai and whether he should keep pursuing the case (bc. he still doesn't have concrete evidence. also i wanna say dazai knows that chuuya knows but pretends he doesn't. to add a layer to it like chuuya questioning and hoping that he got it wrong and it's all a weird coincidence but like deep down he knows that's not the case and just refuses to admit it bc he may or may not have caught feelings)
