I Need You to Fake Date Me

Description: Prompt List #81 “I need you to fake date me’ with Kuroo.

“I don’t know what I’m gonna do about it . I didn’t think I would get this far.”

“Well you better figure something out soon. You only have 3 days left.”

“I know that Kenma! Why do you think I’m freaking out!?”

Snap! The lead in your pencil breaking was the last straw. If the boys sitting behind you were trying to be quiet they were failing miserably. Well, one of them was. But regardless it had pushed you out of your concentration completely.

You turned around to glare at the lanky raven haired boy, and his tiny pudding hair friend. “I’m sorry, but do you guys mind not talking so loudly? Some of us are trying to do work and the not so quiet chatter going on behind me is a huge distraction.”

Kuroo Tetsurou looked behind him and back at you with a frown “Oh those guys? I can tell them to keep it down if you want. Oi! Yaku! Shaddup back there people are trying to study!” he called to his sandy haired libero, turning to wink at you before picking up his pencil, chuckling at the comments Yaku threw back at him from across the room.

You sighed and rolled your eyes, turning back around. How you had been blessed to sit in front of Kuroo Tetsurou in class Every. Single. Year. was beyond you. You wondered if someone thought it was funny to see you being tortured. He was loud, he was cocky, and he was so good looking that he just drew you in- well, that’s what everyone else thought. You would never admit that you agreed with them though.

The warning bell went off, signaling 5 minutes until the start of classes. It was also a signal to the quiet second year to make his way to his own homeroom class, leaving his distressed best friend to his own survival. Kuroo had a dilemma. One that he did not know how to deal with. After getting into a debate with family members, he blurted to them that he had an ‘amazing girlfriend who would blow them all out of the water.’ His first mistake was saying he had a girlfriend. The second was saying it so confidently that it got back to his more elderly relatives, who insisted he ‘bring her to the next family weekend trip so they could meet her.’ That trip was this weekend. And he was yet to come up with a way out of it.

Kuroo looked up, L/N F/N was still giving him a glare that could kill, mixed with slight curiosity. As soon as he made eye contact with her again, she instantly went wide eyed and turned around muttering about ‘not failing this test this time or she would be dead.’ Kuroo smirked to himself, he had known F/N for a long time. Well, he knew the back of her head and the sly comments she thought no one could hear more than anything. He thought she was cute. Kuroo raised a brow, thoughts twirling through is head...maybe he could convince you to help him out?

Lunch time brought a peace that you reveled in every day. It was warm, and the sun was shining as you sat beneath the trees enjoying your brain break; eyes closed enjoying the sunshine. That is, until a shadow blocked the sun from your face. Peeking an eye open, you saw Kuroo was the shadow in front of you, blocking the warm sunshine. “Hello Kuroo, what can I do for you today? Don’t even ask me for any studying tips because you should know not to ask me about that kind of thing-”

“F/N I need you to fake date me. It’s only for three-four days tops! Promise!” he blurted, causing you to spit out your drink.

“I’m sorry, you...what?” You coughed, wiping juice from your mouth. You were confused. Had Kuroo lost his mind?

Kuroo sighed and dropped down in the grass next to you and explained everything. “I just need you to do this for me for a few days. I know we aren’t exactly super close friends, and I am asking you to just go on a family weekend trip with me and pretend to be my girlfriend, but I have no other way out of this.”

You laughed at the predicament Kuroo had found himself in. “Wait wait wait, this is all because you can’t admit you made up a little fib to family?” you asked, wiping a tear from your eye from laughing so much.

“Please F/N I am to the point of begging. I’ll do anything you want after this. I promise! Whatever it is I will do it!” he said, grabbing your hand in his two larger hands.

His hands felt warm surrounding yours. It sent a funny shock through you, but you shook it off, raising a brow “Anything? You will do anything I want?”

“Yes! I swear on my role as captain of the volleyball team!”

You snorted “You’re such a dork Tetsu-Chan. Alright Fine. I’ll help you. I’m usually home alone on the weekends anyway so I don’t have anything better to do. Besides, this could be fun.” you smiled winking at Kuroo, who visibly relaxed and grinned as you agreed to help him.

“I swear you won’t regret this F/N.”

It was Friday. And you were pretty sure you had regretted saying yes to this decision at least 384 times since then. It wasn’t that you didn’t think you would enjoy your weekend and be able to pull this off. Everything was fine until you really got the details from Kuroo and reality set in. You were pretending to be his girlfriend. On a family trip. For three days. Three days included two nights. Two nights that you presumably would be sharing a room with Kuroo. For some reason, your brain had not thought of this until Friday morning, when you were packing your bags for the weekend and realized you needed pajamas. The only time you had hung out with Kuroo outside of school was the occasional school project, and the even more rare occurrences of being at a coffee shop at the same time and deciding to hang out while there. And now you had pajamas in your hands to go into a bag for a trip with him!?

None of that could prepare you for spending the night in the same house, nonetheless the same bedroom as Kuroo. You would never admit it to another soul that you were attracted to him; you wouldn’t call it a crush, but more often than not, crushes start with some sort of attraction. And boy were you in trouble there.

There was a knock on your front door, pulling you from your frenzied panic. Kuroo had to be here now. He said he would come pick you up around 11 and looking at your clock it was 10:59 on the dot. He was right on time. You threw your final things into your duffel bag and zipped it shut, throwing it over your shoulder and running out to greet him, locking up the house behind you. You turned and saw Kuroo leaning up against a cool looking motor bike; you didn’t know he had one of those. (just indulge in my random headcanon with me) He looked up as he heard you coming down the drive and grinned lazily at you “Hey beautiful, you ready to go?”

You stopped and stared at him wide eyed. What had he called you? Kuroo kicked out of his leaning position and came over to you, waving a hand in front of your face “hello? Earth to F/N. Is anyone in there?”

You shook your head remembering what you were supposed to be doing. “yes I’m here i’m fine. I’ll perfect this fake relationship before we even leave town” you teased, sauntering over to his bike running your hand along the red, shiny paint, “I didn’t know you had a bike like this Tetsu, does it go fast?” you added raising a coy brow at him.

It was Kuroo’s turn to stare at you in awe. Boy was he in trouble now. If he expected to come out of this weekend the same as he was going in, he would be wrong. Extremely wrong. Maybe he should have thought this out more.

The ride out to Kuroo’s family cabin didn’t take too long. At first, the two of you were slightly awkward as neither of you had been this close to each other. But the strong muscles of years of volleyball, the scent that was ‘Kuroo,’ and the ease of trust settled enough that you ended up laying your head against his back; enjoying the wind, the sounds, and the feel of everything around you. For Kuroo, it was a good thing you were behind him, and you both had helmets on. Because his face was as red as his bike the first time your arms circled around his waist, and your torso came into contact with his back. But the minute you relaxed and rested your head on his back, also made Kuroo relax. He enjoyed this feeling. It was one he wasn’t expecting, and it was one he would like to feel more often.

When you arrived, a few of Kuroo’s family members were outside and came over to greet the two of you. Kuroo groaned quietly as they came over “Of course they would be the ones to greet us first. They are the ones who started this whole mess.”

“Technically, if you hadn’t lied, you wouldn’t be in this mess now would you?” you teased, patting his back and hopping off the bike. Taking off the helmet and shaking your hair, hoping your hair wasn’t extremely wind blown. You may have agreed to do this as a joke, but you wanted to give a good impression for Kuroo. You didn’t know why, or have any explanation for the thought, but you figured if you were in this for the long haul, might as well do a stellar job.

Kuroo’s cousins, as you came to find out, were incredibly suspicious. The first word out of one of them was ‘No way this is your girlfriend. She’s too pretty to date a dork like you.’ But the two of you were determined to sell it, and you seemed to do a good job of convincing them for the moment.

“Well why don’t you guys go get your stuff settled in your rooms? Dinner isn’t for a few more hours. We have so many things planned for the weekend that everyone decided tonight would be more relaxing from traveling.” a family member had said, pushing the two of you up the steps together. You had understood that this was a big family weekend, but you were already struggling to keep up the facade as you tried to keep who was what family member together.

Kuroo took your hand and led you through the large cabin like it was second nature “Once we get to the room we can relax some. I know you probably are already overwhelmed...sorry about that.” he muttered to you as you walked.

You nodded, ready to let down a few walls, it had been maybe 30 minutes since you had arrived and you had already almost blown the whole ordeal twice. Once in the room, Kuroo dropped the bags and flopped down onto the bed. You let yourself fall into a comfy looking recliner next to the bed and let out a sigh. “Kuroo you forgot to mention just how big of a family event this was. How am I supposed to be your ‘girlfriend’ while trying to keep all of your family members straight?”

Kuroo let out a laugh “yeah...sorry about that. It will be a lot to take in, especially at dinner. This family thing is more like close and extended family on both sides. There are family members here that I don’t even know very well. So don’t freak out too much.”

You were surprised at the ease with which he was able to calm you down. This was a side of Kuroo you didn’t expect to see. But what else would you expect getting to see his entire family? You skipped a bajillion steps agreeing to fake dating him, the more you thought about it, the more you thought maybe he deserved to get to know you a little bit more too.

Kuroo spent the rest of the time trying to fill you in on a few things to know to help make dinner a little less stressful, when there was a knock on the door “Tetsurou! Dinner is ready, better be ready and meeting everyone downstairs in 3!” a voice called before running down the hall.

Kuroo stood up and stretched, before looking over at you “Ready to put this to the test beautiful girlfriend of mine?” he teased.

You felt your heart stutter. That was the second time he had called you that. This time though, you were able to play along “Oh of course handsome. Let’s go meet your family!” you let out, lacing your hand with his. This was supposed to be a fake date, so why did you both like the way your hands felt together?

Kuroo once again led you throughout the cabin, down to an area that had many different long tables set up, with food and people already sitting around them eating and laughing, enjoying each others’ company. “Oi Tetsurou! Over here!” the same cousin from earlier drew your attention. Sitting next to him, and two empty spaces on the other side, was a middle aged, older woman. That was Kuroo’s Aunt Lin, you remembered; she runs a flower shop just on the outskirts of town by the mountain pass.

“My Aunt Lin is one of the family members who insisted I invited you along this weekend.” Kuroo mumbled into your hair. You weren’t sure if that was supposed to help you, or make you even more nervous, but for some reason that information didn’t really do much of anything.

After you had both sat down and gotten food, Aunt Lin turned to you, placing her hand over yours “So tell me about yourself dear, Tetsurou here has kept you all mysterious from us. Tell us how you two met?” she eagerly asked, a warm smile matching her gentle touch.

“Uh volleyball!”

“Class!” the two of you blurted out.

You cleared your throat quickly and let out a laugh as the few people around you blinked questioningly at the outburst. “Tetsu and I are in the same class at school, but I occasionally come and help out during practice. We knew each other because of school, but really met during volleyball practices.” you blurted out, barely able to lie smoothly enough to convince a child. But it seemed like everyone accepted that as an answer. You and Kuroo were able to play off of each other, coming up with the perfect stories of your ‘relationship’ as more questions were asked.

As dinner had ended, and people began leaving the area to retire for the night, you let out a sigh as Aunt Lin had bid goodnight, and the conversations had turned away from you and Kuroo. You began to think that if every interaction was like this one, that maybe you would be able to survive this weekend after all.

You and Kuroo had said good night to those remaining and slowly made your way across the cabin. You were just about to make a comment to share your thoughts on the weekend when Kuroo’s cousin came up to you both, with a sly grin on his face. “You two better rest up tonight.”

Kuroo raised a brow “Oh? And why is that?”

His cousin grinned even wider “Because. The first competition event starts tomorrow morning at 8am. And every couple has to participate.” he explained.

You whipped your head up at Kuroo. He had not mentioned anything about ‘couple and family events.’

“Oya? And what is the first event?” Kuroo asked.

“Couples kayaking races through the river and rapids.” his cousin laughed at the look of sheer terror on both of your faces before running off down the hall for the night.

Swallowing you managed to stutter out “Hey Kuroo? Have you ever been couples kayaking before?”

“....No.”

“Yeah me neither.”

And once again the two of you thought that maybe this wasn’t such a good idea. But for completely different reasons.

A/N: OH MY GOD. This was soooooooo much longer than I expected! The idea just came to me and I couldn’t stop writing. lolol. I was thinking of maybe adding a part two or three and extending on this weekend trip if anyone would be interested....if so, either leave a comment on this post or send a message to the blog! Long distance relationships are statistically known to suck, and honestly, I wouldn’t have considered myself the rose-coloured glasses type. The real world doesn’t care that you’ve probably, maybe, already gotten your share of crap thrown at you, starting from the death of your parents, and think maybe it should cut you a break. I knew the chances of Nick and myself making it were slim. He would be busy, surrounded by strangers a whole two states away. Sure, we’d known each other since we were kids, and maybe by now, he had become the one constant in my life-- my North Star, perhaps-- that forever friend who’d seen me at my worst and didn’t care in the least. And maybe--- maybe, finally, I’d finally told him those three words that had been nagging at the back of my subconscious for the last year of our acquaintance. He’d said them back, and it was only then that I realized how much I’d needed to hear and say them.

Still, I saw him off on that cloudy morning with dry eyes and homemade eggs Benedict-- that is to say, that I fed him and double-checked to make sure that he had not misplaced anything important. The apartment that he’d been living in was stripped bare, and all of his worldly goods were in the trailer of the U-haul which would take him to his new home. I was plugging his phone into the car charger in the front console when his arms wrapped around me from behind, and turned me to face him.

Nick has always been a good-looking guy, in that sort of rugged, All-American way, with broad shoulders and a great smile, and I’d learned at some point in our long acquaintance that he gave the best hugs-- the type that lifts you slightly off your feet and makes you feel like some type of dainty damsel even when you’re six feet tall in heeled boots. It’s no different now, and maybe I hung on for a moment too long, myself. He’s not much of a cologne guy, but his sweatshirt smells like laundry soap and I’m pretty sure he’d used my shampoo that morning again, because his hair’s super soft-- and the flowery scent is not nearly as girly on him as it is on me.

“Call me when you get there.” I hope to Hell, of course, that the fact that my voice is muffled against his neck disguises the unsteadiness.

“I’ll call you every day.”

I wouldn’t hold him to it, of course, but I didn’t say anything to that effect, and I watched as he drove off, and then headed off to the gym for a punishing three-mile run on the treadmill followed by a full hour of kickboxing to a playlist of angry girl rock, and if I cried in the shower afterwards, no one needed to know that.

He did call that night, though. And the night after. And the night after that. And soon, it had become a routine, and maybe I should have given him more credit the whole time. Before I knew it, two months had passed, and he flew down for a long holiday weekend, and after we’d christened three separate rooms in my apartment, we got caught up in person. I’d heard so much about his new place and the people he’d met at his new school that I probably could’ve picked his favourite and least favourite professors out of a crowd.

This became a thing, and so for two years, we did the long distance thing. He heard about the awful day when the stand mixer went rogue and how I was still picking bits of cake batter out of my hair two hours later. I heard so much about one particularly persnickety city inspector on a project he worked on that I learned to hate the guy as much as Nick did. Our reunions were sporadic, rapturous and never long enough, though half the time we eschewed actual dates in favour of staying in and just being ourselves together-- watching movies, working out, buying groceries and cooking meals, falling asleep so close together that it was hard to tell where one of us ended and the other one began.

We spent that first Thanksgiving at my place-- Friendsgiving, really, cooking a huge meal in a too-small kitchen, inviting all of our old friends. I shooed Nick and James out of my kitchen and chatted with Raye as she snapped a bowl of green beans for me and sounds of the football game filtered in through the living room. She was a ball of nerves-- James would be meeting her very formidable, very rich, very conservative father when he went over to her home for Christmas. Said father would not be amused to find his only daughter not only dating, but actually fully living in sin with a mouthy city boy-- when Nick had moved out, James and Raye had gotten an apartment together. Amy and Zach had arrived a bit later, because he’d had to pick her up from the hospital where her shift had run over. Kevin and Mina, on the other hand, were at her parents’ house out of state. She’d texted me all types of sad face emojis about how the cranberry sauce had come out of a can and the mashed potatoes had come out of a box, but I had no sympathy. She had parents who cooked for her for Thanksgiving, didn’t she? Besides, if she really cared about food over time spent with them and Kevin, she would have told them that she had Ebola and came over to my place instead.

At any rate, against all the odds, we somehow managed to make it work, and two years, three months and six days after that first time that I told him I loved him, he was on his way down to visit again. I’d gone up to see him get his Master’s degree two months ago and he’d taken me out around the town to celebrate with his friends and classmates. Some of them had met me before, but to those who hadn’t, he introduced me as his girlfriend, and from the easy acceptance, I knew that everyone present had some idea of our history. It had been a wonderful weekend, but I was a bit nervous about seeing him again today. Something had come up, very recently, and I wasn’t sure how he would take it.

At first, I had thought nothing of the symptoms. Fatigue and a bit of nausea doesn’t tend to alarm anyone right off the get-go. Everyone knows restaurant hours are brutal, and as an apprentice chef, any task, no matter how mundane or unpleasant, might get assigned to me on any given day. Certainly, I might get to spend one day arranging delicate edible flowers and a compote of ripe berries around and on top of fancy panna cottas, but the very next, I might be doing nothing but washing dishes and running out garbage. The kitchen I work in specializes in a rotating seasonal menu, and at the time, calamari was in season. Certainly it is delicious deep-fried with casino butter and lemon wedges, sprinkled with sea salt and cracked black pepper, but it’s definitely not as appealing raw, slimy and fishy-smelling. It’s enough to make anyone lose their appetite doing prep early in the morning. But then I was late. And not to work, if you know what I mean. One week stretched into two, then three. The nausea didn’t go away, even when my day consisted of making large quantities of bourbon vanilla buttercream frosting for strawberry white chocolate cakes. It was a week ago that I picked up two different pregnancy tests from Walgreen’s. Both results had come back to tell me what I kind of already knew, deep down, and I was honestly terrified down to the bone.

I had always wanted to have that maybe-stereotypical home and family someday-- the cute house with gingerbread trim and the white picket fence and the garden full of old-fashioned flowers, a husband who loved me and our children and went to baseball games and dance recitals with equal enthusiasm. I wanted to be able to be the mom who baked cupcakes for the bake sale and cookies for the big jar on the kitchen counter, and volunteered to chaperone field trips to the science museum. That had been my own mother, from those distant reaches of old memories, and though I’d lost her, I knew that it was in me to keep her legacy alive.

But I had not intended to do so when I had just started my career, unmarried and still living in a tiny college-campus apartment, with a boyfriend who lives two states away, who might not even want kids. God! That was a discussion we’d never even had.

The door swings open, though, before I could think about it any more. Nick has a key to my place, of course, as I do to his. Sometimes he calls, but sometimes he just arrives, like today, a little ahead of schedule. I’m caught up in one of those long, tight hugs, a warm and familiar hand cupping the back of my neck, and maybe he feels a hint of desperation in my kiss. When he pulls back, his eyes are warm, but full of concern. “Everything okay, Freckles?”

“Ugh. Can you not call me that? We’ve talked about that.” Oh, Gods... A baby with his brown hair and my green eyes. His dimples and my freckles. I can almost picture a little girl, toddling on chubby legs, riding on his shoulders, picking dandelions in the yard and blowing the fluff away in the wind. I’d teach her to bake chocolate chip cookies and read her stories where the princess saved herself and buy her pretty dresses for picture day and sturdy jeans for playing outside in. I loved her already, but she wasn’t supposed to even exist.

“Habit. And you scrunch your nose up when you’re mad, and I shouldn’t like it, but I do.” Nick presses another, shorter kiss to my mouth, then tips up my face. “But you seem a bit out of sorts. What’s wrong?”

“How could you tell if I’m out of sorts or not when you literally just walked in two minutes ago?” It’s an evasion, and I’m sure he can and will spot the bullshit and call me out on it.

“Because I’ve known you since we were kids, and you don’t have to say or do anything for me to know when you’re out of sorts.” Nick pulls me gently over to the love seat, and sits me down, keeping one of my hands in his as though he expects me to bolt at any moment. “Everything’s okay, right? You didn’t have anything particularly horrible at work this week that I recall from our conversations.”

No, this week hadn’t been bad. Breaking down chickens is fairly mindless work once you get the hang of it. And the resulting bone broth is wonderful for someone who finds it difficult to keep food down some days. Nick deserves the truth, of course, and maybe the ripping-off-the-bandaid approach is best. I shut my eyes to his all-too-perceptive, all-too-loving gaze, and set my teeth.

“I’m pregnant.”

His hand tightens on mine and his next inhaled breath is sharp, but I plow on. “I know it’s not expected, and I know we were careful, but… it is what it is. You don’t have to worry, though. I’m not some delicate little miss who’s afraid of raising a child. The executive chef at work loves me, as he should, and I’m sure they’ll work with me when the time comes for maternity leave. And in this day and age, it’s not a big deal to be a single mom. I’m keeping this baby and she’s going to get the best life that I can give her, growing up.” I don’t know why I was so certain I was having a little girl. But she already existed, to me, and at that moment in time, she was probably only the size of my pinkie nail. “She will never doubt, for a moment, that she’s loved.”

“Of course not.” Nick finally speaks, and his voice is an awed, slightly choked-up whisper. I sense him moving, then one big, warm hand rests on my still-flat stomach, followed by the press of his lips. “We’re having a baby. Wow. Okay, so I guess I should get on with what I’d already planned to do, even though I’d planned for this to be a lot more romantic.” Belatedly, I realize that not only has he moved, but he is down on his knees in front of me, one hand on my stomach, the other one digging into a pocket, and then he pulls out a small black velvet box, flicks open the catch.

I’m not much of a jewelry type of girl-- I wear the same earrings, every single day, but working in a kitchen greatly limits the practicality of going around with bracelets and rings and do-dabs. Still, stereotypical though it might be, I’d always wanted that classic diamond solitaire engagement ring from my husband-to-be, and now, when it’s staring me in the face-- princess-cut and set in platinum, I find myself speechless.

“Lita Oakley, love of my life, will you marry me?”

Of course he doesn’t mince words. In a lot of ways, I guess we’re past that point. But I draw my hand back a moment before he can slide that ring on.

“I don’t want you to propose to me because I’m pregnant and you feel obligated. You’d end up regretting it, and that would kill me.” We didn’t live together now, but if we did someday, and then it all went south, and I had to walk into an empty house bereft of his presence and his things and even the way he’d always kick his shoes off any which way by the door rather than make sure they’re put up where no one can trip over them, I knew it would break me in a way that hadn’t been possible since my parents’ deaths.

Nick rolls his eyes, though, and huffs out a breath before digging deeper into that little velvet box, all the way underneath the white satin. He takes out a crinkled paper receipt, and unfolds it, and drops it on my lap. “You are so stubborn. Do you know that? Take a look at that receipt, will you? Just… humour me.”

I do. It’s from some jeweler in his state, and the price of the ring of course makes me wince a little. It’s definitely not cheap. But then I read it a little closer, and see the time stamp on the top. It was purchased at 4:26 PM on the sixth of December, two whole years ago. Perhaps six months after he’d moved away.

“I got it as soon as I could afford it, and I’d been saving up for a while. Probably not very well-thought-out of me, when everything was so up in the air. But I’d always known that we’d be here together, someday, and I’d be asking you to marry me. Anyway, it’s got nothing to do with the fact that you’re pregnant and everything to do with the fact that I’ve loved you for as long as I can remember, and there’s no one else in the world for me, and it’s too late to return this ring, anyway.” He pulls it out of the box, and I see something shining, trailing from it. “I know you can’t really wear rings, working in a kitchen. So I also got a necklace that you can wear this on, if you’ll just say yes. Please say yes.”

“How are we going to do this?” I blurt out, as that other infamous symptom of pregnancy-- emotional hormonal tears-- makes its appearance. I blink and try to sniffle them away, but Nick simply puts the ring on my finger, silvery necklace dangling from it, and gets up to his feet, pulls me gently to mine. “You live so freaking far away.”

“Not anymore I don’t.” He tugs me close, and kisses me again. “My lease is up in a month. I figure I can get another U-haul, and con the guys into helping out. I’m pretty sure that the people can put a good word in for me to get hired in somewhere local-- dumb jock notwithstanding, I worked my ass off these last few years and have the credentials and grades to prove it. Since my lease is up in a month anyway, might as well look for a new place to live. Some place that can be baby-proofed, and definitely not a top floor apartment with a janky elevator like here. Can’t have my pregnant fiancee struggling up five flights of stairs every day.”

He makes it seem so simple, really, as he pulls me in for what promised to be an extended cuddle session.

But maybe-- maybe it would be.

Prompt: based on this imagine/drabble request: Could you possibly do a one shot of Reid/reader where they used to date (the team never knew about the two of you) and you had a bad breakup. Then a couple of years later the reader is called in to consult on a case the BAU has and it’s clear Reid still has feelings for her. Main Character(s): Spencer Reid, Reader Chapter Trigger Warning: Brief mention of violence, reader is in hospital due to injury. Chapter 7

A tall, young doctor quickly follows behind the nurse who had pulled Spencer away and despite your still hazy eyesight you can see a panicked Spencer standing outside the glass door that had just been slid shut on him.

His hands are buried in the pockets of his dark slacks and his tongue darts out to wet his lips as his head whips quickly between the monitor displaying your vitals and the doctor standing on your left side taking your pulse.

You want to smile, but feel like that might be slightly inappropriate given the situation. Spencer. He was here. He was still here. After weeks of working with the team and him avoiding you, you were sure you’d wake up alone, if you had ever woken up again.

The doctor is explaining patiently that you had suffered blunt force trauma to the back of your skull which resulted in a pretty severe concussion added to which, you had taken a bullet to the stomach.

It had been a clean shot, through and through, more on your left side, thankfully missing internal organs.

However, shaking his head, he admitted that you had been delayed in getting here and had lost a large amount of blood. Now that you were awake they wanted to keep you under observation but he was sure you’d make a full, if not speedy, recovery.

“Ok, I’m going back outside and I’m going to let Dr. Reid in,” at the look on your face the doctor chuckles lightly, “oh yes, I know his name, he’s been accosting my floor staff for the past 36 hours for minute by minute updates on you, when he wasn’t busy lecturing my nurses on how to properly attend to you of course.”

You laugh, your eyes traveling over to the messy brown hair and lanky form pacing outside the glass door.

You clutch your stomach at the sudden, sharp pain but nod gently, “Sorry about that Doc. He’s just a little overzealous sometimes.”

Your doctor shrugs patiently. “It’s okay. I’ve seen a lot of people go crazy when the people they truly love are injured or sick.”

He walked out of the room as you were left to process what he had said; truly love? You and Spencer had shared that kiss before the raid but love? He hadn’t even wanted to speak to you a few days ago, couldn’t even stand to be in the same room.

Just as you begin to give the notion serious thought, there’s an explosion of noise from outside your room and you clock an excited Penelope Garcia tottering towards you. You glance around her; Spencer has cornered your doctor and was assaulting him with barrage of questions.

“Y/N!!!! Oh my god! Thank goodness you’re alright!” Penelope envelops you in a vanilla scented hug.

“Hi Penny.” You say softly, trying to return her hug but wincing as you move your arms.

“No no! You rest up! Don’t you dare move your arms! The rest of the team are still here, I just called Morgan to let them know that you’re awake. We were so worried, and Boy Wonder hasn’t slept in days,” she leans closer to you, the fake diamonds on the rims of her glasses winking at you in the fluorescent light, “we didn’t want to leave him alone, we weren’t sure what he’d do, he was losing his mind, pacing, drinking wayyyyyyy too much coffee, even more than usual, he even called his Mom.”

You open and closed your mouth quickly. So it hadn’t been a hallucination. Diana Reid had been at your bedside at some point.

Penelope is droning on in the background about the unsub being in custody; your deductions along with Spencer’s are what led them right. JJ was apparently feeling pretty guilty over a recently inconsolable Spencer at your bedside, she had felt it was her fault that you had gotten hurt, she was on your six after all.

You shake your head vehemently at this statement, “JJ has nothing to be sorry for, Spencer loves her, there’s nothing he wouldn’t forgive her, especially me, he couldn’t even stand me when we were working together on the case.”

Before Penelope can answer, the sound of the vacuum seal on the room door opening interrupts your conversation.

You look to the man in question as he enters silently. There’s stubble on that perfect jawline and his usually hazel eyes are dark, almost black, matching the circles surrounding them. You hold out a hand to him, regarding him with a soft smile. This man, the man you loved and still love.

His lean form crosses to the other side of your bed. Spencer gently intertwines his graceful fingers with yours on the crisp white hospital sheet, his other hand moving to cup your cheek. You instantly leaned into his touch and closed your eyes, relishing his presence.

“Uh…..um,” Penelope coughed lightly, “why don’t I go let the others know that Y/N is stable and that we should be ready to travel soon.”

“y/n….” Spencer sat on the chair where he had been sleeping for the past few days, at your side.

“Spence.” His name came out as a croak and he quickly reached for the plastic cup of water and held the straw to your lips. His eyes searched your face, as if he was drinking in and memorizing every second, ever micro-expression, every glance in his direction. You want to reach out to touch him, have him near you.

As he removed the cup you took your chance, “Spence, would you do me a favour?”

“Anything.” came the quiet but definite response. His lips pursed slightly at the side as you had seen them do so many times before, his eyebrows creasing slightly. You reached out with a light laugh and ran your index softly in between his eyes down his nose. “Don’t frown so much Dr. Reid, no one died.”

You were just making a joke, trying to alleviate his seriousness but you realized his brown eyes were filling with tears.

“Oh Spence, come here.” You begged him, your voice quivering a little as you slowly lifted your arms and held them open.

He shook his head, his brown hair fluttering slightly, making it even messier, his soft hands never leaving your own.

“I shouldn’t, the doctors said that you shouldn’t be moved or have any physical exertion.”

“Spencer. Please.” You stared at him beseechingly, already trying desperately to shift and finding you didn’t have enough strength. A small smile perks up his lips as he slips a well toned arm under you, easily moving your body slightly to the right side of the bed.

“I am so glad you’re alright Y/N,” he whispers as he settles next to you, his long legs almost falling off the bed, his sweater clad arms wrapping hesitantly around your upper body.

You lean into him enjoying the softness of his sweater and the solid support that is his slowly rising and falling chest and he drops a light kiss on your hair.

You take a few deep breaths as you look up at him, seeing him like this reminds you of all the mornings you had woken up to a younger Spencer. He was older now, more filled out, more sure of himself but still just as kind and calming to you.

“Look Spence,” you begin, his worried brown eyes coming to rest on your face, “ you don’t have to stay. You and the team have done enough. I know you don’t even want to be around me. Please don’t stay out of guilt and don’t be so hard on Jennifer, she covered me as much as she could have, I was the liability….. I shouldn’t have been at the raid, you were right.”

Spencer pulls back from you so quickly that you wince again and let out a gasp, “Ouch.”

“Y/N.” his eyes are serious, his large hands cupping your face, his thumb brushes your jawline in a soothing motion and you lean into him, willing yourself not to cry, you weren’t going to guilt him into staying even if that was what you wanted most; for Spencer Reid to stay by your side forever.

“Y/N, I don’t want to leave,” warm brown eyes search your face for a reaction, “I stayed with you because I wanted to be here, I should have been the one watching out for you during the raid, not JJ, I should have been the one to protect you from the start of this.” His words are soft and spoken with a tempered, comforting intonation that belongs solely to Spencer.

Tears run down to your chin as you stare at the white sheet covering your lower body, “Spencer, you don’t have to be nice to me because I got hurt, I was doing my job, I got sent to help you and your team, I could have asked Hotch to stay behind, I wanted to go in with you guys, I put myself in harm’s way, but you,” you raise a hand to brush hair out of his eyes, “ I know how kind you are Spence, I’ve always loved your kindness, but you didn’t even want to be around me when I was at Quantico, you want to talk to me, or be near me and I understand that. I know what happened between us in the hotel was just late night madness on your part.” you hiccuped, “ I mean I wanted you, wanted you to come to my room, to be with me, to love me, but I know you don’t want me anymore, I know you haven’t in a long time.”

You stop rambling but don’t dare look up, sniffing harshly to draw in breath.

Spencer’s brows are drawn down over his eyes, “Y/N…” he looks confused and hurt and you don’t know what you had said to elicit that reaction.

Without warning his hands move to the back of your neck and he pulls you towards him. You allow him to, ignoring the pain in your side as his lips find yours.

The kiss is hard, hungry, so different from the usual gentle, seeking kisses he used to give you. He’s pulling at you as though he’s trying to drown in you, drown in your presence, your smell, your own much smaller body providing him some sort of solace.

His lips move feverishly to the corner of your mouth and then along your jaw, grazing against your neck and finding the soft spot under your ear, his hands delving into your hair at the nape of your neck. You let out a soft groan, somewhere between pleasure and pain as his other hand accidentally skims the bandages over your ribcage.

“Shit. Sorry.” He pulls back.

“Spence….”

“No Y/N, let me explain. I…..” he heaves in a breath, leaning away from you to pull your hands into his lap, his long fingers running up and down your arm in light touches, as though he were stroking the keys of a piano.

“I……I wasn’t avoiding you at Quantico,” you raise your eyebrows and he laughs, a light melodious sound you had missed, “ Ok, ok, maybe I was avoiding you, but not for the reason you think. I couldn’t be around you because it hurt too much. I didn’t know how to deal with it. It felt like there was something ripping inside of me, every time you walked past, every time I smelled your perfume, or heard you laugh or saw you joking around with Penelope or Derek,” his brown eyes are glistening with tears and his mouth was doing that downward curve thing that you hated seeing on him because it meant that he was resisting some strong emotion.

Spencer swallows hard, “Don’t you understand? I left you all those years ago to protect you. I have seen everyone on my team be put in some kind of danger and we have all had someone we care about affected by our jobs. I couldn’t do that to you. Besides dealing with me and my mom, I couldn’t know that you weren’t safe because of me. I couldn’t do that to the person I love, I couldn’t be selfish enough to put your life in jeopardy just so I could wake up next to you, hold you to comfort myself when I came home from a case, eat pancakes with you for dinner…..I loved you too much. You deserved a full and happy life with someone who wouldn’t be gone for weeks at a time and wouldn’t wake up in the night screaming from vicarious trauma. You deserved someone normal. Someone better than me.”

“Spencer…why didn’t you ever just talk to me?” You ask bewildered by his explanation.

“Y/N, you were so young, you had your whole life ahead of you. I didn’t want you to be held back, I know how much you worry, I could hear it in your voice every single time that I called you while we were away on a case. I didn’t want you to go through that anymore. You are brilliant and beautiful and kind and funny and so empathetic, I knew you would find someone else, I was sure you would be happier with someone else. I couldn’t talk to you because I couldn’t bear it, I couldn’t bear leaving, I just knew it had to be done.” Spencer’s hot tears mingle with your own as they drop onto your interwoven hands.

That was why he had left? He had left because he was afraid you’d get hurt? Of him being the reason that you would be hurt?

“Spencer Reid! How dare you?!” you admonished at him. He looks up at you in shock, brown eyes clouding over with confusion. “How could you make that decision for me?! I love you you idiot. be happier with someone else??!?! Spencer,” you lower your tone noticing the hurt in those perfect features, “no one has ever measured up to you. No one could be as brave or kind or funny or eccentric as you. No one’s voice ever calmed me as yours did, no one knew exactly when I needed a hug or a encouraging word, no one was ever like you Spence, I haven’t been able to ever even date anyone else. Who could measure up to you? Who could talk to me about geography and literature and french classic cinema and take me to Dr. Who conventions and teach me how to read German.” He gives you a dopey smile, one that was bashful but lit up the entire room.

“Spence, I never stopped loving you. It was always only you.”

He sighs, his large body moving closer to yours. Spencer gently leans his forehead down onto your own, “And it’s only ever been you for me too Y/N.”

here, lemme just-- get all of my thoughts out there. WARNING: THERE’S A LOT.

the flashback in the beginning was nice. i know it was meant to be kinda sad and whatnot bc of their dad getting cancer but lemme just say that javi’s “hey, i was reading that!” and david’s “oh my gooood!!” was cute. also, i couldn’t stop focusing on how #tragic david’s outfit was, but that’s why i love his outfits bc they are tragic, so...... anyway, moving on. i was SO FUCKING RELIEVED TO SEE KATE AGAIN!!! her beautiful face wasn’t messed up at all and i was so glad!!! she just straight up hugged javi and completely ignored david and it’s like, you’re not even gonna ask david if he’s okay? really? bc my kate would’ve. but i digress-- i was glad when gabe finally started coming around and realizing that david wasn’t all that he was cracked up to be, but i got really mad at all the times when gabe would get hit by david. accident or not, it pissed me off. david breaking fern’s arm and shooting rufus made me uncomfortable, lol. and like, i get why he did it, but still. that whole situation could’ve been handled better. i’m at least glad that he didn’t let kate and javi get shot. i stood beside my brother and it was a nice moment and made me happy, but i couldn’t be too happy bc i knew everything was gonna get fucked up by the end of the episode. i felt bad about ava, a little, but tripp was my husbando™ and i didn’t want him to die (even tho he did gdi) and so she was rightfully pissed off at me. she said she’d pick david over me anyway so i didn’t feel too bad. the bit where david’s like, “kate walked right past me and hugged you. why is that?” and i’m like, MY KATE wouldn’t have done that, i’m sorry!!!!!! but i couldn’t actually say that so i just went with, “ask her yourself.” bc lol nah son. but then the fact that she’ll hardly speak to him, just-- kate why? i mean, i kinda get it, but still. ALSO GABE TELLING JAVI THAT HE WANTS TO BE LIKE HIM GAVE ME SO MANY EMOTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!! MY BABY BOY IS GROWING UP SO FAST!!!!!!!!! the scene where ava saved my sorry ass and proceeded to die fucked me up, dude. i thought she’d last longer than that. and david’s reaction was just so-- idk. but i get it bc people handle grief in different ways. but the whole thing with the group going across that edge spiked my anxiety and i was just hyper-aware of kate the entire time. the helicopter scene didn’t help my anxiety lmao. i was just glad that we all survived that bs. plus when javi finally gets up there and he’s like, “great job everyone. just like how we rehearsed!” and kate’s like, “i think we can do better! lets go back over there and try that again!” and it just-- i laughed so hard, fffffff. the walker scene was gross af, but the fact that JAVI LITERALLY TALKS TO ONE OF THEM KILLS ME JUST-- walker: *looks at javi, makes guttural noises* javi: *looks at walker, makes guttural noises back* i died laughing at that, okay? it was fuckin’ great. and the scene in the garage-- HOLY FUCK. kate slapping david and proceeding to break up with him and THEN GOING OVER TO KISSING JAVI (AND JAVI KISSING HER BACK LIKE THERE’S NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER) LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK????? KATE!!! THAT’S NOT HOW YOU DO IT!!!! (i mean, i told david that i was in love with her afterwards, but still...) ofc that set david off, and he attacked me, but i refused to fight him. i kept telling him that i loved him, and then he warped gabe upside the head with a fucking wrench and didn’t even fucking bat an eye. like, i’m sorry, but even if i was seeing red and was trying to kill someone, the moment that happened, and i realized that i’d just hit my son UPSIDE THE HEAD WITH A FUCKING WRENCH i’d immediately snap out of it and try to apologize to my kid or something at least. i also felt like gabe agreeing to go with david was ooc af, but the writers did that shit on purpose. otherwise how could they get those separate endings they wanted sooooo bad, y’know? i went with kate, and i don’t regret it at all. i trusted clem enough to get gabe back safely and i just knew that if i left kate, she’d die and i wasn’t having that. so i went with her and helped her clear out richmond with the HELP OF MY MAIN MAN JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT’S GOOD, MAN???? I MISSED YOU BRO!! YOU LOOK HELLA GOOD LIKE THAT, DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! but yes, so we did all that, and then clem’s back and she’s GOT GABE AND HE’S ALIVE AND SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but then we find out that DAVID’S FUCKING DEAD AND IT’S LIKE WTF?! NO! WHY?! bc as much as i might’ve not always liked david, i never wanted him to fucking DIE WTF?! also the fact that gabe’s like, “dad said for us to take care of each other.” seriously FUCKED ME UP, MAN. like damn. so kate and i go to his body (which i really hated looking at, btw. too much sad.) and she grabbed his dog tags, while proceeding to tell me about what david wanted and ish. and i was like, fuck man. that’s fucking sad af. we respected his wishes, buried his dog tags, and i said my peace and KATE DIDN’T HAVE SHIT TO SAY AND JUST SMILED AT ME AND LEFT HER FUCKING RING THERE AND I’M LIKE WHAT THE FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK -- and then we put up david’s pic on the memorial wall, and say a few more words, and kate brings up the fact that she wants to have a BABY??????????? naturally, i was like, ‘fuck yeah, babe.’ but still, lollllllll. i didn’t see that coming at all. AND THE BIT WITH JESUS HOLY FUCK. him thinking javi was flirting and i’m like, “heyyyyyyy boiiiiiiiiii how you doin????” bc fuck yeah. sorry, i’m weak for jesus, man. i fuckin’ ship it. and then the “hey, uh, jesus?” and “hey, uh, gabe.” IT WAS SO FUCKING CUTE OMG. THE HAIRCUTTING SCENE WAS ADORABLE TOO!!! being able to tease clem about gabe, and giving her hope about aj, AND giving her that adorable haircut???? A+++++ i loved every bit of it! tho i will say that clem has some big ears, lmao. i still love her tho. <3 THE HUG SHE GIVES GABE, THE FACT THAT JAVI AND KATE HAVE THEIR ARMS WRAPPED AROUND EACH OTHER, AND THE WAVES THEY ALL GIVE EACH OTHER, I’M JUST-- LOVED IT. and the ending scene with her looking like a total badass with that new haircut and jacket???? 👌👀👌👀👌👀👌👀👌👀 good shit go౦ԁ sHit👌 thats ✔ some good👌👌shit right👌👌there👌👌👌 right✔there ✔✔if i do ƽaү so my self 💯 i say so 💯 thats what im talking about right there right there (chorus: ʳᶦᵍʰᵗ ᵗʰᵉʳᵉ) mMMMMᎷМ💯 👌👌 👌НO0ОଠOOOOOОଠଠOoooᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒᵒ👌 👌👌 👌 💯 👌 👀 👀 👀 👌👌Good shit Clementine’s story will continue... like omggggggggggggggggggggggg. though i do wonder when they’ll finally let clem rest, lmao. and OKAY!!! i’ll now take this opportunity to say that it killed me how ooc Kate was at times. like, the fact that she didn’t at least look at david and ask him if he was okay didn’t seem like something she’d do, imo. also her ignoring david for that long and only talking to him when they’re fighting??? mmmm no. i don’t approve. the fact that she loses her shit and slaps him and breaks up with him and THEN goes over and kisses Javi just to add more salt to the wound felt soooooooooooooooooo ooc for her. MY KATE would, at the very least, attempt to have a civil conversation with david. she wouldn’t have ignored him for so long up until that point. she might’ve been nervous to bring the topic up and that’s why she was ignoring him, but i feel like she would’ve pulled him aside after a while and talked to him calmly about the situation. she would’ve picked a better time to do it than when she did in the game. she just-- she would’ve handled it so much better than they had her do, bc that whole thing was a fucking mess. that wasn’t the kate i’d been led to believe. also the fact that she just stops caring about him at all? like, you loved him once, enough to marry him! You even admit to loving him once. so you mean to tell me that you have not even the tiniest shred of emotion left for him? unrealistic. blocked. but no, for real-- i could understand it in some situations, but it just find it hard to believe that she wouldn’t care about him at all. kate and david’s relationship reminds me sooooo much of my mom and dad’s and even though they have their issues and aren’t in love with each other anymore, and even though they don’t always get along, they still care about each other, so i’m like??? sigh. oh well... also the fact that she doesn’t say anything at david’s funeral, and just lays her ring down on the dirt pile? ooc. i feel like she would’ve at least said something. anything would’ve been better than the silence. and then to top it all off, she tells javi that she wants to start a family with him, and i’m like???? you were literally just talking about how glad you were that mariana wasn’t there to suffer through that shit and now you’re telling me that you wanna have a baby? idk. i just didn’t expect that from her. i still love kate, and i’m very weak for her, and everything else that i didn’t mention about her seemed p in character to me, but yeah. those are just my thoughts on that. and lastly, david seemed to be mostly ic throughout the game, but i feel like there were plenty of moments where he was wayyyyyyy OTT. like, whoa. like, i know that the game was trying to use him to show more depth to his character, but would also turn around and use him for confrontational purposes. also the fact that even if you don’t pursue kate, AT ALL, he STILL doesn’t believe you when you tell him that, and he loses his shit and tries to kill you. david’s character could’ve been handled better as well, i think. but yeah, i think that’s about it for now. i’ll make another post later if i think of anything else, and i’m sorry that this is so long, but i had a LOT of thoughts about this, so...

2016 fic retrospective

no one’s tagged me for this, but i need to do it because i got shit to write this year and i need a kick in the ass.

1. List of works published this year:

2. Work you are most proud of (and why):

a man, a planet, a house, and a tree. the first fan fiction i ever read was star wars. i’d been kinda sad that after seeing the force awakens i didn’t jive with the main ship (finn/poe aka stormpilot) so couldn’t really get into the sudden explosion of fic. the second time i saw the movie i saw the guy who took poe’s helmet from him and i decided that would be my ship -- after scouring the imdb page and posting a comment on the actor’s instagram page for confirmation, thus was born poe dameron/resistance soldier. i gave him a name, and a backstory, and gave them a story. what i’ve always loved about the star wars universe is how VAST it is, and how many stories can exist in it without even touching on what we see in the movies or even read in the books. i could write about these two forever!! ALSO i wrote the whole thing without defining a gender for BB-8, and none of the references were tortured. :)

3. Work you are least proud of (and why):

on babies. i had this concept of harry as a pediatrician but the research involved would be wayyyyyyy too much, so i made him a nurse instead and rushed right through the entire thing to get it out. i’m least proud of it because it deserved more time than it got.

4. A favorite excerpt of your writing:

i’ll do one from each, since i finished so little, lol.

a man, a planet, a house, and a tree (in 2 short paragraphs i was able to build in huge pieces of marek’s backstory, if you’re more than a casual star wars fan):

“You understand why I do this, right?” Poe asks quietly, fingering the yellow piping on Marek’s pants. He’d tried once to pry out of Marek how he’d earned his Bloodstripe to no avail. He’d registered the mix of pain and pride in the soldier’s eyes and hadn’t tried again.

“I do,” Marek answers. “I just want you to come home to me every time you leave. And crashing squints into desert planets isn’t going to result in that outcome more than once.” Marek’s gaze flicks down to Poe’s chest. I think I’ve done a better job taking an idea from inception to fruition? and also, writing the shit i wanted to read.

I’d like to write and post more. In 2015 I posted a lot of stuff I really liked but knew I’d never finish (basically same thing as with Mutant). I need to finish some shit.

I have a Poe/Marek I was plotting that would take place after TFA, going to Corellia to pick up some more ships (because the Resistance is woefully under-shipped????). It’s so much fucking research to write in the new canon, so I decided that I could write Poe/Marek as an AU in the old EU, since I’ve read all that shit and wouldn’t have to research as much. But idk what the plot would be in that one. :/ For most of 2016 I set aside my original novel (it’s political in nature and shit with the Trump nomination and election just fucked with my head so I had to let those guys take a seat for awhile). I need to pick it back up and make some decisions about it -- i have 4 different routes for it. At least. I also have a Larry faux mpreg I really want to write, but I have to change the premise again.

I interpreted Niall's comment as "my girl at my management" which spoke much more to me about casual misogyny than that Niall has a secret girlfriend, but that may just be! FTR, I don't think Niall's a misogynist exactly, but rather he's a very very privileged white boy to whom it may not occur that calling an adult woman who works for him his "girl" is sort of icky and not appropriate.

haha I got into a disagreement with someone over this myself. I personally heard “my girl at my management” meaning he was about to say “my manager” or something like that and then change it to clarify it was just a girl there. I didn’t read into the misogyny, but to me it was less that hew as saying “my girl” or implying a secret girlfriend and more that he specifying that it was a female that works in the office.

NOW. To your next point- the girl vs. women conversation. oh man oh man oh man. My friends and I have discussed this topic TO DEATH, particularly recently. In fact you should’ve seen us a couple weeks ago drunk at our friends’ dinner party talking both amongst ourselves and explaining it to all the dudes there.

There’s this great podcast called Stuff Mom Never Told You and I can’t remember the name of the episode, but it was more a discussion about whether it’s ok to refer to women as “ladies” but they also do go into the girl vs. women thing. There’s a whole generational aspect that goes into it- a lot of older women will still refer to themselves as girls or say how they’re hanging out with their girlfriends. I know my mom does it! And I know a lot of people around my age (late 20s- mid 30s) feel as though we’re not quite grown up enough to call ourselves women even though, yeah we totally are. And then you have the whole societal issue where woman don’t want to be perceived as old so a lot of times people will refer back to younger language- girl instead of woman, miss instead of ma’am. And then that’s where the whole lady thing comes into play as kind of an in between since when it comes to dudes you’ve got the term “guy” which is kind of that in between for them. but then lady has a whole bunch of other implications and...i’ve completely gone wayyyyyyy off topic here.

ANYWAY. my point is. I don’t blame Niall in particular, I blame society. :)

Progressive auto insurance problem !?

I need an opinion on what should i do in this case. 3 weeks ago , as I was driving home , on the freeway , from the truck in front of me fell big peace of ice and hit my car from underneath. Less than 1 minute later i noticed blue smoke behind , luckily there was and exit with gas station right there. By the time i pulled up to the gas station car was barely moving. After staying parked for 20 min , it leaked oil and tranny fluid . I called towing , had them pick the car up , called progressive made the claim. All of that happened in WI near Milwaukee , before i used to leave in Chicago , so I never dealt with progressive from WI. After couple days adjuster came out and gave shop 1100$ to start the repairs , shop diagnosed everything and came to a conclusion that its the transmission leaking because of the damage inside. Adjuster was extremely slow to give shop any kind of approvals to do anything , So after 3 weeks they finally allowed them to take transmission apart , another adjuster came out took pictures , then shop owner want around , called me and said that he will call me next day. Next day shop owner calls me asking if I heard anything from progressive ? I call that guy back , but he went on vacation. Call my first adjuster , she says that the guy who went on vacation concluded that it wasn't related to impact , so they wont pay for anything and I owe 500 for taking down transmission. I called shop owner right away asking if its possible , not being related to impact , he says of course not , otherwise your car wouldn't break after impact. He also said some technical explanation what caused it to break , i just don't know what. he also said that no one ever called him and asked him what was the cause if that. I dealt with progressive in Chicago twice , when i lived there , and i had greatest experience ever , but it seems that in Milwaukee , they are playing games , making me pay , and not taking responsibilities.
