My old $1000/mo studio apartment is being sold (by the new building owners) for $350,000.
And this is why I can’t afford to live on my own lmao.
#bren talks irl#and of course my mom’s response was “well it needs to be expensive because of landlord taxes uwu.”#bitch your own child is legally homeless and can't afford rent anywhere in the state despite working full time. shut. up.#anyways japan does this thing where they legally can't raise rent unless they renovate the whole building and i think we need that here.#like i'd rather live in a 20-50+ year old building than be homeless?? it's not that hard a concept to grasp???#heck i'll even do all the renovations myself over time.#but as is my last apartment was literally a 1DK in design and it's going for how much now???#mind you it also has zero extra amenities. no yard. teensy balcony too small to sit. no pool or clubhouse or gym. no parking.#the only window is facing the outdoor stairs meaning all you see is concrete lmao. and everyone else can see in so you keep it closed.#otherwise you're a fishbowl on full display. especially if you're ground floor like me where everyone walks past.#over pandemic i literally had no outside contact or windows for almost 2 years. that shit was a jail cell.#but sure $340K or $3500/mo for borderline nothing. the living room area of a single-wide mobile home is bigger.#oh and the ceiling lights/fan doesn't work because the neighbors upstairs flooded their unit.#and you better be chill with basement bugs because they get in just as frequently. be prepared to vacuum at least a cup of them out weekly.
