Tonight we start xenoblade 3!!! It's truly one of my favorite games of all time, even to the point that it's never been hit by the transformative fandom itch for me. I'm so excited to introduce my roommate to it and re-experience it for myself.

She just told me that she's going to do a "try not to speak challenge" for the intro

She immediately recognized the Sword and Uraya on the title screen and I guess the no-speaking challenge hasn't started yet lol

WHAT THE HELL. ARE YOU KIDDING ME.

The first thing. The VERY FIRST THING she says during the opening war cutscene is "oh wow, so that was the Earth crashing into Alcamoth!"

And then it takes her like. several minutes to notice that Eunie has wings. And she thought Noah was a girl. The observational skills vary wildly

Roommate: "Why do I feel like this isn't a victory? I'm with Noah on this one, this is horrifying."

"You look a lot like Shulk, dude. I like that about you." (about Noah)

*Roommate sees the Kevesi Queen* "I do not trust you. The lighting makes you look so evil. Oh my god, I do not trust you. No one good has embryos in their throne room."

"Oh, Joran wasn't on the battlefield with us. That's not a good sign."

Hm, I don't think she recognizes that the Kevesi Queen resembles Melia at all. I'm just going to let that one lie for a while.

She loves the music which is like. yeah, of course. It's xenoblade 3.

Roommate: "How do I keep [the Flame Clock] full? By fighting enemies?" Me: "Killing Agnians." Roommate: "...that seems morally apprehensible."

AHAHAHAHA SHE FLINCHED. I glanced over to her at just the right moment when Riku started talking to see her actually, physically flinch when he spoke (and then we just cackled together for 30 seconds)

She keeps saying that it feels so dystopian and I'm just over here like "oh you've barely scratched the surface"

Lmao she's annoyed now by the enemies aggroing onto her. We turned it off for all of 2 so it's been a bit since she's had to do random encounters

When Mio's mask came off my roommate just gasped and then shouted "catgirl!"

Upon seeing Taion she just said "aww, he's so cute!"

She noticed Mio's flesh eater crystal but not her incredible resembl--scratch that! She did say it looks like Nia's gem (but I don't think she's put anything else together)

Calling it now though, that's what I'm going to end up spoiling on accident. Xenoblade 1 it was Shulk dying, xenoblade 2 it was Jin eating Lora's heart specifically, 3 is going to be Mio being Nia and Rex's daughter

Oh it's Mio and Noah's first duet and I'm almost tearing up...this game...

Also roommate: "The girl with the long hair [she means N] isn't wearing the mega evil armor, so I don't think she's evil but I don't quite know what her deal is."

Oh yeah she just has the plot down guys. Literally the only thing she hasn't predicted is Origin and that's just because there's no possible way she could know about that right now. Like listen she went into this BLIND! I told her absolutely nothing about the game except that I knew her favorite character would be the girl with the gun and the snark. Maybe I was just blinded by the elation of new xenoblade when I played it but I absolutely did not pick up the plot this fast.

She loves the whole gang but especially Taion, he's her favorite right now

now my experiences might not be universal but as far as im concerned you asked far fewer questions about video games when you were a kid. the first time you encountered waluigi in mario tennis or mario party or whatever other mario spinoff you encountered him in for the first time because they only put him in spinoffs you didnt say "who's this goofster stomping around like he's a member of the crew?" you said oh ok that's waluigi i guess.

super smash bros melee the crossover fighting game starring all your favorite nintendo characters (well pikachu was second party but thats pikachu everyone knows who pikachu is) had a whole three characters who nobody in north america knew who the fuck they were, two of which were from games that weren't localized at all and one of which was from a game that was enough of a commercial failure in the united states hardly anyone remembered it a little under a decade later. now to be fair ness was in the one on the n64 also but its not like he'd gotten another game. "oh earthbound's failure was overexaggerated" you say that but my brother lived the super nintendo era and not a single one of his gaggle of friends had even heard of earthbound it was not on anyone's radar come on. but no one said "hey these aren't iconic nintendo characters" we all went "well i guess they can be here too" and now we say "you cant main a smash character if you havent played their game" like we werent saying "thats marth i dont know who the fuck he is but hes like a brother to me" in 2001

youd just go into the store and look at a game's boxart and decide you wanted that one and yknow what it usually worked out for you. i did this longer than you'd expect too i was in 7th or 8th grade and thought to myself "yknow i havent really played any console rpgs lately" so i looked up "rpgs for the wii" and i saw a gamefaqs rec thread or some shit where a guy went "well xenoblade is coming out." and i looked up xenoblade and found virtually no information about it other than that it was coming out and thought to myself "yeah xenoblade... that looks like an rpg i could get into." and you know what i did? i preordered it this may very well have been the first game i ever preordered i thought "well they were talking about it on gamefaqs so it must be a big deal i wanna make sure i can play it day 1" but i didnt need to reserve a copy of fucking xenoblade chronicles the store probably could have given me every copy in stock for no profit loss when i walked in there with my gir t shirt and my little receipt because i was one of all three and a half people in north america who played this game counting the gamefaqs guy. and xenoblade chronicles knocked me flat on my ass it was one of the best games i'd ever experienced i'd played plenty of story heavy rpgs before but this one hooked me in a way none of them ever had.

fast forward around 4 years the 4th smash game comes out but this one was different. this was when we really started to go in on the crossover fighters, character slots were now real estate that potential entrants had to earn the right to occupy as if one game ago they didnt make a failed NES peripheral a playable fighter and give it an emotional subplot in subspace emissary. no longer was it "cool i guess this guy is here" it had become "who the hell is this and what do they think they're doing in smash bros?"

and thus came that fateful night when amidst crazy new character reveals like the fucking wii fit trainer they unveil a cinematic trailer and announce that shulk from xenoblade chronicles was joining the fight. to which the unilateral reaction was "who the fuck is shulk why was this trailer framed like we already have a rapport with shulk i dont know this man why does he say stuff like 'im really feeling it?'"

but i knew who shulk was.

update on how i wasted 5h on the new xbc3 dlc story, new grips come to light:

feels a whole lot of the story was hinging on nostalgia bait rather than solving the plot holes in the main story, which is just peachy

matthew is not an interesting protagonist and is only there to represent the family feud in n’s long bloodline of fuckery. i thought matthew and a would have more synergy since they are literally the two faces of the game but they are just surface level friends with banter. a continues holding herself at arms length like alvis does for obvious reasons but this means matthew feels so isolated

nice loredump on xbc1 and xbc2 tho, i like the throwbacks to past places like colony 9 and uraya and prison island

i almost laughed when i saw the joran-looking guy die the first 10 minutes in lmao

the sharla and pandora reincarnations/children were pretty neat ig

i went into the dlc in the hopes of being able to complain that they locked the best part and best lore of the game behind a paywall but now i’m just disappointed. torna dlc was better. it had better pacing, better protagonist duo with lora and jin, started off stronger, didn’t have stupid flashbacks every three seconds same problem with xbc3 main story, better characters and character-synergy and humour. 

tldr it’s a waste of time not worth it, just play fire emblem engage instead goty fr

Oh, curious for the headcanons for the Mario Bros!

I haven’t played too many of the games in the Super Mario Franchise, but I think I can do this!

But first, I would like to make this statement: I am very sorry for all of the Mario fans out there. Fire Emblem fans may have lost a localized Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, but Mario fans lost Super Mario 3D All-Stars (I have a digital copy of that game, by the way. I want to get back to playing it at some point), Super Mario Bros. 35 (which was a very fun game, in my opinion), the Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch, and the ability to upload your courses in Super Mario Maker on the Wii U (though I guess that was going to happen at some point).

Needless to say, you guys have lost a lot. I hope that these headcanons will make you feel a bit better!

Starting off with Mario, I think he would be a ler-leaning switch who is incredibly ticklish. He isn’t as sensitive as his brother is, but he’ll still break down in laughter if someone were to put their hands on one of his worst spots.

Before I begin the lee!Mario headcanons, I would like to make an announcement: Mario is canonically ticklish! This is shown in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. There might be more, but for now, these are the games that Mario can get tickled in!

If you want to know how Mario can be tickled in these games, feel free to ask! I got this information from the Mario Wiki, and I would be more than happy to provide the links to the pages that I found all of this information on!

Now that I have gotten that out of the way, I’m going to list off Mario’s worst spots. Those spots are his sides, his knees, and his neck.

His often gets targeted by Luigi, Princess Peach, and Princess Daisy. All three of them love to sneak up on him and launch a surprise tickle attack. He’ll react as if he had just jumped into a pool of lava, and it’s one of the funniest things that you’ll ever see in your entire life.

He doesn’t squirm around or fight back all that much while he’s being tickled. He may prefer to be the ler, but he won’t get mad at his ler for making him laugh, especially if it’s Luigi. Mario seems like the kind of guy who would enjoy a good laugh every now and then, and tickling would definitely help out with that.

If his ler is Luigi, and if he gets in the mood to fight back against him, he will do so, but not out of anger. He’s not going to discourage his brother from tickling him. If anything, he’ll try to initiate a tickle fight so he can encourage his brother to fight back and turn the tables.

He is weak to teasing, but only if the teasing is coming from someone he knows. Don’t try to tease him if you are a stranger to him, he will hate it. A lot. Don’t tease him if you are anything like Bowser or Bowser Jr., either. He’ll hate it even more.

If he knows who you are, then you are more than welcome to tease him while you tickle him. He is especially weak to Peach and Luigi’s teasing. Something about Peach’s tone and the way that Luigi teases him just kills him on the spot.

Teasing is one of the few things that can make him blush. His blush will be a light pink color when you start tickling him, and it will gradually darken as you keep going. Teasing will speed up the darkening of his blush.

Mario’s lers are Luigi, Peach, and Daisy, as I mentioned earlier. The Toads will occasionally join in on the fun if they think he needs a good laugh. In Smash, the first three people in the previous list will continue to target him, but now, they are joined by Link, Ness, the Villagers, and the Inklings.

Let’s move on to ler!Mario headcanons. To me, Mario seems like the kind of ler that will tickle those who want or need to be cheered up. He will not tickle someone into hysterics (unless he is explicitly told to do so), and he will not overstep any boundaries.

His favorite way to tickle someone who’s has a particularly bad day is to lightly tickle their sides and the bottom of their ribcage to get quiet giggles out of them. He’ll keep it up until one of the following occurs:

His lee tells him to stop. He will always comply with this the request, even if he hasn’t been tickling that person for long.

His lee tells him to increase the intensity of the tickling. He’ll do his best to comply with this request without making it harder for his lee to breathe (unless he is explicitly told to tickle them until they are nearly breathless. He’ll hesitate to go through with this request, but he will eventually fulfill it).

His lee has been cheered up successfully. He’ll retract his hands as soon as his lee tells him that they are in a better mood, but if they tell him to keep going, he will comply.

Unless he is tickling Luigi, Mario will not initiate a tickle fight with anyone. He doesn’t know why, but the idea of getting into a tickle fight with anyone that isn’t his brother sounds unappealing to him (though he will occasionally make an exception).

The idea of teasing anyone who isn’t Luigi also sounds unappealing to him (but once again, he can make an exception), so unless you ask him, he won’t incorporate teasing into his tickling. If Luigi is the lee, then he will let loose a flurry of teases that are meant to make him laugh a little bit more than he already is.

Obviously, Luigi is his main lee, though he will go after Peach and Daisy from time to time. In Smash, Luigi is still his main lee, but he will also target the younger fighters. Out of all of them, Ness and the Inklings are the ones that will be targeted the most.

It’s Luigi time, now! He is definitely a lee in my mind.

I recently made a post about the most ticklish fighter for each Smash game, and how they would get into a tickle fight with one another. In that post, I said that couldn’t come up with an idea as to who the most ticklish fighter of Smash 64 would be. After thinking about it, I decided to give that title to Luigi. I hope the upcoming headcanons will make my reasoning clear.

Luigi is FAR more ticklish than his brother is. He’ll jump at the slightest of touches, regardless of whether or not the touch was intentional. He will squeak if you catch him off guard. He might fall over if you tickle his worst spots. And he secretly loves it all.

He doesn’t like to admit to it, but he enjoys being the lee due to the fact that he is getting attention. It’s not like anyone is intentionally ignoring him, but he definitely lives in his brother’s shadow for the most part. To him, tickling gives him the attention that he secretly craves, and it also gives him the satisfaction of making someone else smile, even if he’s the lee.

His worst spots are his underarms, his stomach, and his ears, but you could tickle him anywhere and he would laugh.

He is VERY squirmy! Seriously, he’s worse than both Pit and Shulk, and those two are even more ticklish than he is! If you pin his arms down to his sides, be careful while you are tickle him, because he could knock you down on accident due to his squirming.

Despite all of this, he won’t try to fight back, unless he’s in a tickle fight. If that’s the case, then he will try to get payback on his ler, even if it ends with him getting tickled to death.

Luigi can easily become overwhelmed by tickling, and he might become scared of you if you go too far with it, even if you didn’t mean to do so. This is another thing that you should take into consideration if you want to tickle him.

I probably should have said this earlier, but I can totally see Mario sending the Polterpup after Luigi if he sees him in a bad mood. I can also see him destroying his brother with tickles as payback for laughing at him at the end of Luigi’s Mansion.

Before I list off the names of his lers, I want to make one final lee!Luigi headcanon. Be warned, this headcanon will contain a spoiler for the plot of Luigi’s Mansion (and a possible spoiler for the plot of Luigi’s Mansion 3).

After the events of Luigi’s Mansion (and possibly Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and Luigi’s Mansion 3), Luigi would therefore suffer from frequent panic attacks due to trauma. He became afraid of people sneaking up on him, and he fears that something will jump out at him at any given moment. He’s especially afraid of paintings after seeing Mario in one during the first Luigi’s Mansion and Luigi’s Mansion 3.

To help him recover from his trauma, Simon and Richter will tickle him after he makes a full recovery from a panic attack. Overtime, his anxiety will decrease as he begins to replace the terrifying thought of someone coming to harm him with a more positive image of being tickled by Simon and Richter. He hasn’t made a complete recovery just yet, but he is on the right path.

In his homeworld, Luigi’s main lers are Mario, Peach, and Daisy. In Smash, Simon and Richter will join those three, and they will all work together to help Luigi recover from his trauma.

As a ler, he is rather nervous. His nervousness can be compared to Pyra’s nervousness when she was getting used to the idea of tickling other people.

He’s always afraid of something going wrong while he tickles someone. He’s worried about his lee passing out, worried about digging his fingers a little too deeply into someone’s skin, and worried about his lee getting angry at him. Needless to say, he has a hard time with tickling other people, and he might leave his lee lying and waiting on the ground.

If this happens to you, you have two choices. You can either wait it out, or try to help him with calming down. You can even encourage him to tickle you. That way, he’ll know that you are comfortable with him, and he will regain the courage to tickle you.

He doesn’t like to tease his lees (even if his lee is Mario), but unlike his brother, it’s not caused by a lack of interest in teasing people who are not related to him. Instead, it’s due to the fact that he will make himself blush if he tries to tease his lee. He knows that people will take advantage of this weakness, so he won’t tease his lees.

Just like his brother, he won’t engage in tickle fights, unless they involve his brother. However, unlike Mario, he’ll stay away from tickle fights because he knows for a fact that he will likely lose the fight.

In his world, Mario and Daisy are his main lees. This is carried over into Smash, where Simon and Richter will join them (though Luigi tends to tickle them far less often).

And that’s that, I suppose. I’m a little nervous about posting this, but I’ll be brave and post it anyway.

P.S Is Luigi canonically ticklish? I have a feeling that he is, but I’m not entirely sure about that.

Razeluxe’s Top Ten Male Characters

So I’ve been thinking about doing a particular list for my favorite characters across anime and games for quite a while and with some advice I decided to break it into my favorite male and favorite female characters. Most people that know me can probably guess at my top three favorites but if you don’t know me... well you ‘bout to learn lol. This was harder than I thought to compile...enjoy my fanboying of the boys lol.

By the by, I’ll do my best to keep spoilers to a minimum.

10) Apollo Justice (Phoenix Wright Series)

I’ve played only two games that this character was in (Apollo Justice and Dual Destinies, slowly working through Spirit of Justice) and this character particularly in Dual Destinies struck me even more than Edgeworth who is another amazing character. Apollo has an amazing spirit and it was only through playing Dual Destinies that I really got to understand Mr. ‘I’m Fine’ and his stupid ‘Here comes Justice’ puns. I feel his original game didn’t allow him to shine (still a great entry in the Ace Attorney series I don’t care what anyone says) and Dual Destinies allows him the development he deserves. He gets hurt during a trial and it allows a deep dive of his character even if his personality shifts for a while. Damn he’s savage. He’s considered the underdog in the Wright Anything Agency but he’s to me the hardest working person there who is also the most factual in court.

9) Gokudera (Katekyo Hitman Reborn)

Or as I like to call him, Scowludera since he’s scowling like 90% of the time. This Ichigo ripoff’s character development is insane. And I think that trend follows most if not all the characters in this list. His relationship with his sister is interesting and he’s pretty explosive in terms of personality and intelligence. His fights are all really interesting too, he has some of my favorite interactions in the series thus far (haven’t read the post anime manga chapters yet sadly, but he’s more than earned this spot on this list). He butts heads with people a lot and he can be ignorant but he grows from his experience and you get to see it bit by bit. This dude is loyal to the bone. RIP if you aren’t Tsuna or Reborn. Also, I’d like to shout out this anime as one of the few to do the shounen genre proper justice. Go watch it. Also his sister Bianchi is <3. Oh wait. Male list. Oops. Can we also talk about his weapon? Not gonna say spoilers but that thing is dope and probably one of the best ever designed weapons. And his kitty Uri <3

8) Joshua Bright (Trails in the Sky)

This will be short as I don’t want to spoil anything, but Joshua is a very easy character for me to connect to personally. His feelings, actions, development probably relates more to me than a lot of characters on this list. He’s got good people around him...I’m very happy for his ship and support it 120%. Also the Trails Series, both Sky and Cold Steel are probably my favorite series of anything period. Go play it. There is more to this character that meets the eye and has broken my heart more than once ;_;

7) Neku Sakuraba (The World Ends With You)

Neku Neku Neku. Another very relatable character for me (see the theme here? lol) He initially shuts out people and over time, through his experience in the Reapers Game, he starts to open up and bring people into his circle. He goes through some crap, like a lot of trauma. When you learn of him it’s no wonder he wound up disliking people and society. He’s extremely creative and that creativity manifests itself in different ways. Kinda like me. It’s worth mentioning I used to roleplay this character back in the day, the very first canon character I used to write for. 

6) Shulk (Xenoblade Chronicles)

One of the only blonde’s on this list. Shulk is a character that is driven by revenge but eventually changes. He goes through some pretty traumatic stuff that I absolutely will not spoil. His personality when he encounters a certain characters shifts big time and it’s kind of scary considering how early you see this. Also he gets points for being a notably intelligent character. I mean, the dude has his own lab...and is able to fix and adjust stuff. He’s really a great and well balanced character despite all the crap he goes through. Also I used to make fun of this character and dislike him a little bit, but then I grew up. 

         The list gets real starting...now. Not that it was fake before. :o

5) Jaden Yuki (Yu-Gi-Oh! GX)

Anyone who has actually watched the entirety of GX might know why he’s here. His character development in the latter seasons so unreal and interesting. I’m not spoiling crap but there is a lot more to the character than meets the eye. Like a lot lot. Over the course of the series he loses his innocent eyes and his personality changes a lot...His character is probably one I can relate to in terms of the reasons for his actions, the way he gets down about himself, the way he acts in the final season...it hits me hard...he’s too dang relatable...just like..

4) Rean Schwarzer (Trails of Cold Steel)

Surprise surprise. Rean is here. -hears crickets- Guess you’re not surprised. I wonder why. I think I relate to this character more than anyone else on this list. Except number one. Number one is in his own league. Rean is a character who generally carries a happy disposition...he has a unique power but you can see he is actively scared of it. It’s something I actively deal with...he’s so scared of himself that he puts distance between family and friends. He never feels he’s good enough. He’s made headway through this, but...

One thing that’s extremely interesting about this character is his selflessness. You may think this is driven to the ground in character stereotypes but for Rean it’s different...his selfless has been described as abnormal by characters in game, and it’s not for positive reasons...Rean deals with some real unhealthy stuff. This is getting long.

As of this post Cold Steel 4 comes out in one month and I’m extremely worried for his character. If you’ve played 3 then you’ll know why. Also if you haven’t played the Trails series, go play it. No buts. Heck I’ll even buy the game(s) for you if I can.

Oh look we’re at the top three. I want to say that while numbers two and three here are pretty interchangeable, these characters have been in my top three for over a decade and a half and I don’t see this changing anytime soon. Rean I love you but you have your work cut out if you ever want to breach the top 3. I wanna post a few honorable mentions here. They didn’t get into Smash but they do get Mii Costumes at least! -shot-

Davis Motomiya (Digimon Adventure 02) 

This character was everything I was when I was a kid. The way he tries everything to woo Kari is too cute. Also his unwavering faith in Ken. Also Davis Cries Veemon.

9S (Nier Automata)

Not mentioning any spoilers. Just watch this character and see how his vision of the world changes over time.

Okabe Rintaro (Steins; Gate) 

Okabe’s shift from his ‘persona’ as things get real and his efforts to fix everything is too relatable for me ;_;

Yosuke Hanamura (Persona 4) 

No, I do not ship him with Yu. They’re great buddies for sure, and he’s pretty cool. Really likable character for me personally save for a few moments in the game...he’s also the main in the Arena games. “Let’s do this, Jiraiya!” He’s so cool lol.

                    Top 3 time. Fiercely dedicated to these guys.

3) Robin (Teen Titans Go! 2003)

Robin is such a raw character that carries his past and tries so hard to move from it yet it embodies him to his core. He has since gained a softer side from forming a team, and has been doing normal teenager stuff...which is good for him. However at times that Batman side impacts him so hard that he can only concentrate on his mission, and starts shutting out everyone and everything to do things himself. It actively gets in the way of his interactions. He deals a lot with moving on from failure and acknowledging his friends more, which he does get better at over time. He is also represented by the color red. My favorite color. He’s badass and yet carries so much crap. I connect to this character a lot even now. Third canon character I ever wrote for.

2 Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia)

I love Lloyd. I love his voice, I love his attacks, I love his stupid double sword logic. He says wielding two swords makes him twice as powerful lol. I love his development. I love his idealism and how it matures over time. I love everything about Lloyd. It was legit love at first sight. I remember being 15-16 and seeing him on that Gamecube boxart and saying “I wanna play that guy” Most people I feel (guys in particular) probably looked up to certain characters growing up as a child/teen. Lloyd was mine.

1. Zidane Tribal (Final Fantasy IX)

While it was love at first sight for Lloyd, that was not the case for number one on this list. I was 13 when I first played FFIX. Zidane upon encountering him, I always thought he was a cool character, but he was nothing special.  Even at Zidane’s lowest point I thought he was an okay character at best. I had not finished the game.

Fast forward a few years and I decide to play FFIX again, this time determined to finish it. I had went through some things, grew up a bit before turning this game on. This damn bandit...I remember writing this bit years ago: “His infamous mantra labeled above describes him well, but under his ability to console others with a smile, to cheer people up and meet them at their point of need with his abundant optimism lies a blonde who masks his pain and keeps his issues to himself. Despite his many friends and buddies he harbors a deep loneliness that, like his problems, he keeps to himself. One would have to look carefully to notice his character flaws for Zidane does an impressive job of hiding these problems. Whether it be through his energy, his theatrics, or focusing on other people, Zidane can cover things up quite well.”

Zidane has an absurd amount of depth to his character that I was never able to comprehend as a kid, beneath his flirting, his playful attitude, he hides a lot of feelings, a lot of anger, a lot of sadness. It used to boggle me how he’s able to uphold his sense of virtue despite what goes on in his life and the end of disc 3 answers this for me. It goes without mentioning that this was the second canon character I’ve ever written for, and I still love writing him. I could and write walls of text about how Zidane is so amazing, a chivalrous thief, a lover and a flirt but I think I can let you go lol. Hit me up if you really want to hear me ramble about any these characters, also play FF9.

...So I wrote all of that and forgot to write about Zidane’s ship...have to give it its own paragraph because I love these two together and she does wonders for Zidane as a whole as does he to her. She’s a princess and he’s a thief, they take their time to show them together through different things, different ordeals...particularly the ordeals. Its interesting seeing them both at their worst moments and the many funny moments..Man, that boat scene gets me every time...If I ever write a top ten couples list this couple would no doubt be in the top two if not number one. And I’d probably write way more than this about them because they’re great. Also they’re canon. A healthy canon. Also Dagger’s hot. Oh wait wrong list.

The Future is Mostly Reyn’s to Decide

what’s this?? another xenoblade fic???? THATS RIGHT ITS TIME for ANOTHER XENOBLADE FIC. based on the hc that shulk sometimes gets visions of tickle attacks. post-game but there’s no spoilers! excuse the dumb title but it’s kinda true

Shulk relaxed against Reyn, feeling the breeze cool them off from the sometimes blistering heat of the sun. He sighed contentedly, happy to finally be able to relax and go back to the peaceful life in Colony 9 he hadn’t been able to live in a while. He was happy to see that his new friends had taken a liking to his hometown as well, and after all they’d all been through, they deserved a rest. A very long rest.

It’d been a week since Shulk’s adventure ended, and compared to his journey, a whole lot of nothing happened in Colony 9, which was a nice change for him. He definitely needed the break. Meanwhile, Reyn was a bit antsy. Wandering around the areas outside of the colony seemed like a cakewalk compared to what they just experienced (which it was). Of course he had gone up to Colony 6 to see how the reconstruction was going, but other than that he had had trouble finding things to keep himself occupied.

Shulk could definitely feel that slightly frustrated energy coming from Reyn right now. Taking Reyn’s hand in his, the blonde smiled sweetly at his boyfriend.

“If you’d like we can go to Gaur Plains later,” Shulk suggested. “I know it’s not all that much fun going by yourself.”

“That sounds good,” Reyn smiled. “How’re you holdin’ up?”

“I mean… I think I’m ok,” Shulk sounded as if he was asking a question. “It’s a lot to process so… I’m giving myself time.”

“You still gettin’ those visions?” Reyn asked carefully.

“Yeah… but there’s no deaths, it’s more like minor inconveniences I can avoid, which can be pretty useful, I suppose.”

The two sat in silence for a few moments, observing the view of the colony from Outlook Park. Reyn put his arm around Shulk, feeling the smaller boy snuggle into him. They were thankful to have each other around, especially after what they’d been through.

Shulk suddenly saw a flash. Another vision… he thought. What could this possibly be? He let himself see the vision, knowing it couldn’t be anything of too much urgence. He felt Reyn shift slightly before the vision began playing in his head.

The vision wasn’t entirely clear, in fact, it was pretty vague, but…

Oh. That’s new.

From what Shulk could make of the vague and slightly distorted vision, it wasn’t anything… good. Well, it wasn’t bad. It was more embarrassing than anything else, if Shulk was being honest. From what he could tell, he just had a vision of a surprise tickle attack.

From Reyn. Who was sitting right next to him.

The sound of his own panicked laughter echoed through his head as the vision abruptly ended, immediately snapping him back to reality. He jolted, and then froze, feeling a blush creep onto his cheeks. He slowly looked over at Reyn, who looked a bit confused.

“Y’alright?” Reyn asked, patting his boyfriend on the shoulder. “You had another vision, I think.”

“Y-yeah,” Shulk stammered, clearly flustered, but Reyn was more concerned with making sure Shulk was okay.

“What’d ya see?”

“U-uh… um��” Shulk looked away for a second, feeling his face heat up even more. Bionis, this is embarrassing. Butterflies swarmed in his stomach and his head buzzed as he tried to stutter out what his vision was. As he opened his mouth to continue, he looked at Reyn, and fear immediately struck him.

Reyn was grinning.

Dear Bionis, he knows what I saw, Shulk thought, recognizing at this point he was starting to curl in on himself instinctively, preparing for an attack.

“What did you see, Shulk?” Reyn asked again, this time his tone was more teasing than anything. Shulk gulped, he knew his breathing was staggering already. Reyn hadn’t even done anything yet! He hadn’t figured his boyfriend would piece things together so quickly.

“Um… nothing important,” Shulk whimpered, flinching when he saw Reyn’s hand a little too close to his side.

“Oh, well why didn’t you say so?” Reyn chuckled, his original attitude returning immediately. “I was worried that it was a vision you didn’t like!”

Shulk blinked, rubbed his eyes, and blinked again. What. He was pretty sure his vision took place in this exact spot. He was also pretty sure that there wasn’t much he could do about it, after all, he was more or less used to falling victim to Reyn’s spontaneous tickle attacks. This was… very un-Reyn-like.

Shulk relaxed again, leaning against Reyn. Thinking he was in the clear, he closed his eyes peacefully as his head rested on Reyn’s shoulder. He felt at peace… well, almost completely at peace. However, the visionary had a gut feeling that his boyfriend was planning something.

After spending the majority of their morning at Outlook Park, Shulk and Reyn had decided to check in with Fiora to see how she was doing, after all, she was the most affected by the recent events. She’d decided to let the two stay for a while, as she hadn’t really seen them all that much. Fiora figured Shulk was still adjusting to the new changes.

“Where were you two this morning?” Fiora asked as she sat down across from her friends.

“Outlook park,” Reyn spoke up. “Shulk had another vision.”

“Oh? Of what?”

“He didn’t tell me,” Reyn looked at Shulk, who was sat down next to him. The taller boy noticed his boyfriend blushing. “He said it wasn’t important.”

“Well, every vision he has must be important in some way,” Fiora said. “Do you have any idea of what he saw?”

Out of his peripheral vision, Shulk saw Reyn smirk and nod. He could’ve sworn he saw him wink, too. He was almost certain he did when he heard Fiora giggle.

“Well, I guess if he doesn’t think it’s important,” Fiora smiled, looking at Shulk. Now she was smirking, too. Shulk let out a nervous chuckle, acting like he was in on whatever they were smiling about.

As the two chatted, Shulk couldn’t help but feel nervous again. That gut feeling he had earlier was proving to be correct, much to his dismay. He suddenly felt butterflies again as he couldn’t suppress a nervous smile from spreading across his face. His cheeks flushed a bright pink, and while he wasn’t sure if Reyn noticed, he knew that Fiora definitely did.

“You okay, Shulk?” Fiora asked. “You look a little flustered.”

Shulk nodded, putting his hand in front of his mouth to hide his wobbly smile. Dammit, stop smiling! Shulk internally cursed himself.

“Y-yeah… I-I’m fihine,” Shulk giggled slightly.

“What’s got you all giggly?” Reyn asked, smirking exactly like he did back at the park. “Did something we say tickle you a bit?”

Shulk froze hearing the word, feeling himself suddenly become much, much more nervous than he was before. And with Fiora here as well, he felt like he was going to die.

“I bet he’s all tickled pink because he’s able to hang out with us like old times,” Fiora sang. Shulk’s heart skipped a beat. His blush only grew deeper. His smile got wider too, and he felt giggles start to pour out of his mouth, which he tried to disguise as coughs.

“Hey Reyn?” Fiora snickered.

“Yeah?”

“How many tickles does it take to make an octopus laugh?”

“I don’t know, how many?”

“Ten-tickles!” Fiora giggled. Reyn laughed along with her. Shulk couldn’t help himself but laugh, feeling his face flush more. He felt like he was actually melting. The blonde buried his face in his hands, partially chuckling at the bad joke.

“Guess we really tickled your funny bone with that one, huh?” Reyn playfully elbowed Shulk, who just groaned into his hands.

After what felt like an eternity, Reyn and a very flustered Shulk parted ways with Fiora, and headed back to their shared home. Shulk seemed to try to look at everything except Reyn on their way home, knowing what possibly awaits him when they arrive.

Eventually they reached their home, and Shulk was the first inside. Reyn stepped in behind him, locking the door behind them, since he knew they most likely weren’t going out after this. He looked up to see Shulk staring at him, his blue eyes filled with nervous anticipation. As their eyes met, Reyn waited a few short moments, before he smirked and raised his hands.

“Alright, c’mere!” Reyn pounced, trying to grab Shulk. The blonde took off down the hallway, which made Reyn laugh to himself. “You can’t hide from me, Shulk!”

The visionary heard footsteps behind him, and he knew Reyn would catch up to him eventually. However, all the adrenaline that had built up from the relentless teasing earlier wanted to make this a bit harder for Reyn. He wasn’t going to give in that easily, even if his fate had been sealed. After all, he was stubborn.

Shulk let out anticipatory giggles as he heard the footsteps getting closer and closer, until strong arms had wrapped themselves around him. He yelped as he was lifted off the ground bridal-style, and soon enough he was looking up at a very hungry-looking Reyn. Shulk couldn’t help himself and burst into a fit of giggles.

“I haven’t even done anything and look at you,” Reyn chuckled. “You’re already giggling!” The redhead carried Shulk to their bedroom and dropped his boyfriend onto the bed. Instead of trying to crawl away from his taller boyfriend, Shulk just curled in on himself and giggled, hiding his flushed face.

“Nohoho! R-Reyn!” Shulk yelped when he felt Reyn roll him onto his back and pin his arms above him.

“You’ve had plenty of time to prepare yourself, man,” Reyn said. “I was thinking of just getting it over with when we were with Fiora, honestly.”

“Thahat would’ve mahahade it worse!”

“Exactly! So, I waited until now to tickle you,” Reyn’s free hand descended upon Shulk’s underarms, earning a surprised squeal from the visionary, followed by loud and squeaky laughter. Shulk tried to hide his blushing face in his shoulders, pulling at his arms in an attempt to free himself, but it was no use.

“Y’know, I was gonna tickle you back when we were at the park,” Reyn said as if there wasn’t a helpless, laughing visionary underneath him. “But when you had that vision, you got so flustered, and it was really cute. And, well, I wanted to see more of it!” The redhead began tracing small circles underneath Shulk’s arms, making his boyfriend squeak.

“Soooo, I decided to just go about teasin’ you for most of the day,” Reyn continued to talk casually, like he was having a friendly discussion with Shulk. “An’ I reckon gettin’ you all riled up just made you even more ticklish, huh?” Reyn let go of Shulk’s arms to he could dig his hands into both of Shulk’s underarms. This made Shulk squeal and try to roll onto his side, only for Reyn to push him back. The blonde clamped his arms to his sides, trying to block out Reyn’s hands, but only succeeding in trapping them there.

“REHEHEYN!!” Shulk squeaked, thrashing in an attempt to knock Reyn off of him. “Stoho-aHAP! C’MOHOHON!!”

“I take it this is a good spot?” Reyn questioned playfully.

“NohoHOHO!!”

“It’s not? I dunno, you’re laughin’ pretty hard.”

Shulk shook his head in response. His laughter had already gotten squeaky, due to him being so flustered. The tickling stopped a few moments later, but Reyn’s hands were still resting under Shulk’s arms.

“I’d love to give you a lil break, but you’ve trapped me,” Reyn chuckled, wiggling his fingers. Shulk squealed once more and his squirming picked back up. “Ya gotta let me out, man!”

Reyn stopped again, giving Shulk a chance to raise his arms, but once he did Reyn only tickled him again, causing him to clamp his arms back down.

“Okay, okay, I’ll stop for real this time,” Reyn giggled, worming his hands out of Shulk’s underarms. His boyfriend tried to catch his breath, giggling all the while every time he looked at Reyn.

“What’s so funny?” Reyn asked, chuckling along. He raised his hands and wiggled his fingers, amused when Shulk squeaked and covered his face with his hands. “I’m not even ticklin’ you!”

“I-I knohohow!” Shulk giggled, peeking through his fingers to see Reyn still wiggling his fingers. “Stohop that!”

“I’m not doing anything! Are you just that ticklish?”

Shulk shook his head, yelping when Reyn started softly stroking up and down his sides. Blushing, the visionary bit his lip, but couldn’t contain his giggling for more than a few seconds. His laughter was breathy and soft, but Reyn knew soft tickles like this riled him up much more. The redhead grinned at his giggling boyfriend.

“Reheheyn!” Shulk squeaked as he felt his face starting to get hotter. The blush that dusted his cheeks only became darker, and the tips of his ears started turning red as well. He squeaked again when he felt Reyn’s hands lifting up his sweater, only having a vague idea as to what Reyn was planning next.

“How about you pick the next spot?” Reyn suggested.

“Wh-what?”

“Where do you want me to tickle you next?” The redhead elaborated.

“I-I don’t know!” Shulk stammered, slightly panicked. “Um… r-ribs?”

“Ribs? You’ve got it!” Reyn exclaimed, wiggling his fingers right above Shulk’s ribs. Just when it looked like he was about to pounce, the redhead switched to tickling his boyfriend’s stomach.

“EEP!!- HEHEY!!” Shulk squealed, trying to push Reyn’s hands away from his stomach. Reyn’s fingers spidered all over Shulk’s belly, leaving no tiny spot untouched. Shulk’s laughter got louder when Reyn’s hands stopped on the sides of his belly, just staying there and softly clawing at the spot. The softer sensation was maddening, and Shulk didn’t know exactly how much more he could take.

“Sorry, man, your lil tummy was looking too ticklish for me to resist,” Reyn growled playfully. “Y’know the tickle monster doesn’t hold back!~”

There was the sing-song tone that got Shulk every time. The same tone that Reyn would use when flirting and teasing his boyfriend, that same sing-song voice that made his stomach do flips. That tone was especially flustering whenever Reyn called his name.

“Oh, Shuuuulk~” Reyn sang. “The tickle monster’s been so patient for so long… I think he oughta have some kind of reward for that, don’t you think?”

“R-REYN! I SWEHEHEAR TO BIOHOHONIS- DOHOHON’T!” It was far too late when Shulk saw Reyn lowering his head, already pressing tickly kisses against his stomach. Shulk squeaked, knowing there was no stopping his evil boyfriend at this point. He just decided to cover his face in hopes of hiding his intense blush. His laughter died down a bit, but with that, his giggles only became much squeakier.

“Aww~” Reyn cooed as more squeaks poured out of Shulk’s mouth. “You’re so cute, Shulk. And very, very ticklish~” With that, Reyn went from pressing kisses against Shulk’s tummy to blowing raspberries.

Shulk all but shrieked, squealing when Reyn’s hands came up to tickle his sides along with the relentless raspberries being blown across his belly. Shulk felt like he was practically melting with how flustered he was. Yet, at the same time, he found himself having… fun. It reminded him of when he and Reyn were kids, and he’d be subjected to the same torment as he is now.

He didn’t have much time to think as Reyn kept tickling him to the point where his laugh became wheezy and his face was impossibly red. After that, the redhead stopped, climbing off of Shulk and letting his boyfriend roll onto his side, hugging his midriff and giggling to himself. Reyn smiled sweetly.

“I haven’t seen you laugh that hard in a long time,” Reyn ruffled Shulk’s hair. “It was good to see you so happy again.”

“Th-thank you…” Shulk said. “For, uh, doing this… it was fun.”

“You think so?” Reyn chuckled. “If so, I guess I’ll have to do this much more often to keep myself entertained!”

“Reeeeeyn… that’s not what I meant!”

“Well, too bad!” Reyn scooped his boyfriend up into his arms, kissing his cheeks. “You’re just too much fun to tickle!”

Shulk half-whined, half-giggled as he buried his face into Reyn’s chest, still flustered. His boyfriend hugged him closer and looked outside, then looked back at Shulk.

“Mmm…” Shulk hummed peacefully. “We should go to bed.”

“I guess all that tickling must’ve tuckered you out, huh?” Reyn said, giggling when Shulk nodded. “Alright then, take your melatonin ‘n stuff.”

After they’d both finished getting ready for bed, Shulk happily snuggled against Reyn as the two of them tucked themselves under the covers. Reyn played with Shulk’s hair as the blonde practically buried himself into his boyfriend’s chest, smiling all the while.

“I love you, Reyn,” Shulk whispered, looking up at the redhead. His eyes sparkled with admiration.

“I love you too, Shulk.”

Modern!Newsies’ Smash Bros Mains

I need to finish a lot of the drawing requests/suggestions so here’s this in the meantime :P

Jack: The Cool Leader Guys or Adventurers - There’s a safe bet that Jack is going to play your tough or cool protagonist kind of characters AKA Link, Roy, Ike, Captain Falcon, etc. He cried tears of joy when he heard Roy was back. He’s the one who owns the Wii U/Switch and game. Everyone kind of just crashes his place to play.

Crutchie: Toon Link, Pikachu/Pichu, Isabelle, Kirby - The player that likes to play a lot of the cute and occasionally animal characters. Don’t underestimate though because he will freaking demolish someone with Toon Link, Kirby or Pikachu out of nowhere (puts the “cute” in “electrocutes your butt off”) Looks like a cinnamon roll, but could take you out like BAM! 

Davey: Marth and Robin - He hasn’t played much Smash which explains why he keeps falling off the maps, but Marth and Robin didn’t look as crazy or looney as the other characters and he thought the Fire Emblem characters were a lot more controlled in their strengths.

Les: Duck Hunt - What a troll. He learned to taunt from Race and likes the duck and dog a lot! He’s the little brother type of gamer who is asking questions and you’re not sure if you should let him win or wipe the floor with this kid. Although, he will definitely beat Davey.

Race: Sonic the Hedgehog- Big troll. He’s a button masher and a taunt spammer/master. He will scream random Sonic quotes from the 90s as to distract, but sometimes that may backfire too. (“GOTTA GO FAST-” *falls off the edge of the map*) The type of player that will crawl all over you like a cat to distract you while playing. 

Spot: Little Mac - He is ready to wreck some people up. Other than Little Mac, he will play some of the brooding looking characters like Ryu because WOAH, STREET FIGHTER or Charizard because it’s A FREAKING DRAGON likE EAT FIRE, BOI.

Katherine: Zelda, Sheik, Shulk - Likes having good control and a light character to move around easily. Secretly has learned all of the combos without anyone suspecting it and plays dumb only for victory (“Oh, what’s an ultimate? How do you move? What does this button do?”) A cheap tactic to get someone distracted in trying to “help” her, but first place is first place, buddy.

Albert: Bowser and Villager - Two entirely different mains, and it’s weird, but both mains are also a bit frightening. If he loses, he’s the type to laugh it off (probably with a ligma joke) or make up excuses for it (“Les was blockin’ the TV!”) Yes, he will yell during gameplay, which disturbs neighbors, but in this game, you GOTTA win.

Romeo: Mii Fighter - Started playing the characters that looked really cool, but didn’t feel like he really matched with any of ‘em so he made himself to main! There’s an on going joke that he likes playing as himself because it’s his own pretty face.

Elmer: Yoshi and Luigi - Has played Mario in the good old days, but likes how less threatening Luigi and Yoshi are next to Mario in Smash. The guy who doesn’t take the game too seriously and is probably having the most fun.

Buttons: Pac-Man and MegaMan - Likes the 8-bit aesthetic and plays them because of mascot rep. It’s like a blast from the past! Not the most intense gamer at all, but he likes seeing his friends have fun.

Specs: Fox - He’s more of a classic player and likes the Gamecube controller more. He is the type to try and think up of a strategy, but for some reason, isn’t able to lay a hit on button mashers like Race. He’s a good sport though.

JoJo: Pit - Mr. “I’ve never played this game before but I’m a natural, I guess” He thought Pit looked cool with his wings and bow and has never played Kid Icarus or any Smash Bros. games in his child life. It makes some of the Smash Bros. Strategists angry as heCK. 

Finch: Ness and Lucas - He had heard of Smash before but didn’t play often. When he was going through the roster of characters, someone went “UGH” when he went over Lucas and Ness. Now, he doesn’t stop saying things like “PK THUNDER!” when they play.

Blink: Snake - I mean, sure, bad eye buds, but! Blink likes the idea of the rugged spy. He’s all for it now, despite thinking it was kind of a waste of time for a game before. He grew more and more attached to it the more he played and it gave him an excuse to be close to the others cOUGH COUGH

Mush: Mr. Game and Watch  - That one friend that’s fine watching the others play. Although, when he does play, he is your basic jokester. He likes the simple look of Mr. Game and Watch and his wacky moves, despite the laggy flow style of his animation. 

Mike and Ike: Pokemon Trainer and Ice Climbers - They do the switch off thing with the controller and they are the first two to be told to share a controller (which sucks sometimes, but they’re chill with it.) Mike feeds the twin stereotype by choosing the Climbers (the iconic duo), but he also likes their cute design! Both Mike and Ike like the Pokemon trainer (although Ike prefers the trainer more than the Climbers) even though they can be just a tad OP. They’re so happy the characters returned! YAY TEAMWORK!

Smalls: Samus and Inkling - Oh, heck yeah they’re gonna go for the mcfreaking WOMAN WITH A MINI CANON ON HER ARM! Sometimes they don’t have the patience to charge her weapon for a strike so they play as the inkling (YOU’RE A KID, YOU’RE A SQUID!) Smalls is experienced at Splatoon, but still a good rookie at Smash. They definitely have a competitive spirit!

Xenoblade reference: Interesting NPC text (Colony 9/Tephra Cave)

So I managed to (somewhat accidentally) get a text dump of most if not all NPC comments in Colony 9 (and surrounding areas of the same map), and I also went and did Tephra Cave because it’s small (well, in NPC count) and close by. It doesn’t tell me who’s saying what for the most part, but for the purposes of this post that’s not necessary: I’m just looking for interesting worldbuilding material. The process should be repeatable for other locations, but it’ll be a bit slow going.

I trawled through as much text as I could find and plucked out the interesting stuff. From what I can tell, this includes generic comments as well as quest text. Spoilers obviously.

Student Profile: Ruby Rose

“Hi, everyone! I am Ruby Rose, and I’m proud to represent Beacon Academy as a transfer student from there to Hero Tech! I’m the protagonist of RoosterTeeth’s animated web series, RWBY, and also the leader of the Huntress team of the same name. Nice to meet you all!

“In the first three volumes of my home series, I was 15 years old; as of the timeskip between the awful, awful ending of Volume 3 and the start of Volume 4, I’m 16 in canon. My canon height is 5′2″, and though my weight hasn’t been confirmed, the average weight of girls my age is 115 pounds, so let’s go with that. I’m actually a lot faster than I look, though – my Semblance allows me to move with amazing speed, and I can vanish from one spot and appear in another in the time it takes to blink! I’m also almost never seen without my trusty Crescent Rose, a combination of a retractable scythe and a customizable high impact sniper rifle. In other words, it’s also a gun! I built it all by myself and have been practicing with for years, so you can bet I’ve got a lot of skills with it – just ask all those Grimm I’ve taken to task with it! Oh, also, if you want to interact with me via RP, just ask whether you want to talk with my pre-timeskip canon self, post-timeskip me, me as an HTI student, or Chibi me - the dean really loves RWBY Chibi and would like to see more RPs related to it (SFW, obviously!).

“Personality-wise, I’m pretty much one of the brightest, bestest friends you can ever hope to have! Even after the tragic events that befell everyone in Volume 3, I’ve never stopped being selfless, candid, and lively. At the same time, though, people have wondered why I was elected as the leader of Team RWBY, having called me awkward, naïve, and impulsive. I used to be more attached to weapons than people when I was younger, and I’ve never really outgrown that fact even though I’ve made a lot of great friends since my time at Beacon and beyond. While I’ve got no trouble interacting with my companions, I have difficulty making them no matter how much I’ve tried (and believe me, I’ve tried a lot!), probably because I was accepted into Beacon earlier than most people – but I’ve worked hard since then to keep the bonds with the people I’ve become BFFs with going as strong as ever!

“That said, I’ve been able to connect to a bunch of people at HTI as well as Beacon, partly due to some of them having shared interests with me. In this setting, I’m a freshman in the Mechanics and Technical Maintenance program, with a special interest in weaponry! I’ve actually managed to become very close friends with Pit from the same program for this reason, since we’ve got a common interest and have bonded over each other’s arms of choice – I’ve wanted to study his Palutena Bow for a while now although he hasn’t gotten word from his goddess yet about whether or not I can pick it apart to see what makes it tick. Likewise, Shulk is almost as awkward as I am and kinda reminds me of Jaune a little, although he’s a main protagonist in his own world rather than a supporting character and feels a lot of the same pressures that I do. We’ve talked a lot about our respective thoughts on our stories and roles, and turn to each other regularly for advice and comfort. There’s also Monkey D. Luffy, whose lovable and kind-hearted personality pretty much won me over from the moment we met, especially after he mentioned a few similarities between Crescent Rose and the stuff he knows about in his home world, including the weaponry of one of his crewmates. I’ve yet to see him build something useful but he’s trying! And last but not least, Peter Parker a.k.a. Spiderman, while technically a Photography student, has had some experience building his own superhero technology, which really caught my interest like a fish on a hook when he bought it up within earshot of me. Anyone who’s a BFF with weapons they’ve made themselves is a BFF of mine! Spidey and I keep each other sharp with practice matches with each other and get along famously because of our equally adorkable and selfless personalities. Who knows, maybe we could even go hero-ing together like I always dreamed of doing with the Huntsmen back in Remnant…

After a few technical difficulties, we're back on track to murder Lorithia!

Wow, so that was, uh. Huh.

We fought Lorithia twice, and both fights took about the same amount of time. The first one ended in defeat before we even got a single bar of chain attack. The second one ended in Lorithia dying very quickly after being topple-locked for almost the entire battle. I don't think she even got the chance to activate Crazed!

Two out of two xenoblade players agree, watching Lorithia scream in agony and die is extremely satisfying

The hunt for rainbow slugs has begun and ended in the time it took me to write this note about it. We picked up 3 item orbs and 2 of them were slugs. Why not!

Ugh, you can barely trade for anything in the last stages of Colony 6. And yet I have to remember that this is still a better situation than getting items in 2 or 3, because at least this game has trading at all...

Oh this is very unfortunate. Somehow we forgot to invite Berryjammy to Colony 6 earlier in the game, but now Bana is standing in her spot for his quest and boss fight so she won't spawn. I...I guess we have to fight Bana before we can invite her to Colony 6 now. Whoops.

So, I looked at some random fanart the other day, and I was a bit annoyed at some of them for having the Kanji looking completely wrong.

So, here I am, writing about how each kanji is pronounced, stroke order, all those things

Meaning: Machine

The first symbol to appear to appear (In-game). This signifies the モナド I can only hurt Machines （機神兵）

Also, the same symbol used in the エンチャントアーツ which let other party members hurt 機神兵 without having special weapons to pierce their Armour.

人 - Human 「ヒューマン」

When Zanza upgraded the モナド I to the モナド II during the event’s of Prison Island, he let the sword capable of harming live on the Bionis.

(Don’t ask me why the first モナド is perfectly capable of hurting wildlife on Bionis but not Homs.)

訓読み：　ひと (Hito)

神 - God 「ゴッド」

Finally, in the second phase of the Final fight with Zanza. With the power of friendship, Shulk creates the モナド within him. The モナド III, which is capable of harming gods.

(I realise the sentence sounds silly, since the replica モナド and other weapons can already damage Zanza)

盾 - Shield 「シールド」

The second art that Shulk receives during the events at Tephra Cave with the fight with the Arachno Queen. It protects all party members from receiving fatal damage by a Talent Art.

Meaning: Rapidly

Shulk receives this art when he receives a vision about Sharla’s death. With it, his movement speed (Only in cutscenes and not in-game for some reason) and dodging ability

破 - Purge 「(Breaker) ブレーカ」

Meaning: Rip, Break, Destroy

This art is actually created by Alvis, when the Telethias attacked him and Shulk at the coast near Great Makna Falls. With this power, the モナド can temporarily stop an enemies aura or spike.

音読み：　ハ (Ha)

訓読み：　やぶる (Yaburu)

轟 - Cyclone 「サイクロン」

Meaning: Roar, Thunder

Now, this 漢字 is actually an onomatopoeia (The actual 漢字 for cyclone would be 飃) which in context is quite fitting as it’s the roar of a cyclone. And, cyclone’s typically then to blow and topple things~. Anyways, you get this power after beating the Apocrypha Generator robot guard.

音読み：　ゴウ (Gou)

訓読み：　とどろかす (Todorokasu)

喰 - Eater 「イーター」

Meaning: Eat, Receive (A blow)

The first optional art. This lets you removes any buffs on your opponent while simultaneously inflicting bleed them. Shulk receives this after doing a series of side-quests at Makna Forest. More, specifically the ruins near the landing side. You get this art after obtaining a book from King Agni’s Tomb.

(Not sure, how reading a book let you acquire a new ability for a mythical sword, but sure)

鎧 - Armour 「アーマー」

The second optional art. This art reduces physical and ether damage for every party member by at most, 75%. You acquire this art after doing the Stop the Mechon Rampage! sidequest given at Machina Village.

Smash Exclusive アーツ

Nope, still not done! In Smash 4, Sakurai (Or, Alvis/Machina, I guess) added two new arts to Shulk’s arsenal.

翔 - Jump 「ジャンプ」

Meaning: Soar, Fly

This art, judging by it’s self-explanatory name, let’s you jump higher with the added bonus of giving Shulk’s recovery move slightly increased height. Oh, and giving Kirby the most broken recovery game ever.

撃 - Smash 「スマッシュ」

Seriously, if avilero wasn't enough to destroy me and tear my soul to pieces, now another gay ship of mine (in a non-BL anime), that I've been invested in for a while (even since before avilero), has basically become canon, only to have one half of the ship (supposedly) killed off in action a few minutes later. I'm dead inside, but at the same time I'm happy about the unquestionable validation of my ship? But why is it that in all of my top three favorite m/m ships ever, one side has to be dead?

Oh I feel you so much, anon.

My among my top otps (m/m and not) there are a lot of tragic ones: Avilero, C/Fe (a ship from Asimov’s robot series), Kawoshin (NGE), Archer x Rin, Kiritsugu x Irisviel, Rider x Waver (all three from the Fate/ series), Komahina, Kuzupeko (Danganrompa 2), Griffith x Gatsu (Berserk), Spirk (Star Trek TOS), Shulk x Fiora (Xenoblade Chronicles) and maybe m!Black Magic x MC (Heroes Rise Trilogy) and Narumitsu (Ace Attorney) (even if they’re not remotely as tragic as the others).

And Idk how many of these you know, anon, but let me tell you that in each one of these ships I listed:

at some point one of the two dies or worse (even though they don’t necessarily stay dead), or

both of them die (together or separately), or

one of them almost dies, fakes his death, disappears, or something similar that prevents them from being together.

And it’s just     SO PAINFUL       but also amazing please give me more of that angst.

But now I’m kinda curious: what ship are you talking about?? I want to know?? Maybe don’t tell me the ship or it could be spoiler I guess but tell me the anime so I can check it out and suffer with you? I love suffering for half dead otps! Please anon!

I don’t know if this is a franchise that you like but, maybe some headcanons for Simon and Richter from Castlevania? The headcanons don’t have to be long. I just would like to know your opinion.

Oh dear... I’ve never played Castlevania... Sorry in advance if these headcanons do not meet your expectations.

Please note that these headcanons revolve around Smash Bros., not Castlevania itself. If I ever play Castlevania, then I might make new headcanons for Simon and Richter that revolve around the games.

I’m going to put this under a “Read More” because holy God did this get long. Sorry in advance if you don’t like long posts.

First off, I’ll do Simon.

So for Simon, I don’t think he would be that ticklish. I’m not sure why, but his appearance gives me that impression. Maybe there’s something in Castlevania that I am missing? I’m not entirely sure.

He only has two worst spots, with the first one being his underarms. He isn’t too comfortable with the idea of being touched there, but he will make an exception for Richter, Pit, and Mega Man. Luigi would also get a pass after enough time has passed.

He probably shouldn’t keep them exposed if he doesn’t want to be tickled there, but most of the fighters don’t even think about tickling him anyways, so it doesn’t really matter. The only time it does matter is when Pit, Mega Man, Richter, or Luigi are feeling a bit brave.

His knees are his second worst spot, but in terms of ticklishness, they are no where near as bad as his underarms. Pretty far from that, actually. You might get a few chuckles out of him, but you shouldn’t expect anything else beyond that.

He probably wouldn’t know how to react to being tickled, but if his ler is either Pit, Mega Man, Richter, or Luigi, he’ll quickly turn the tables on them. He’s not doing this out of anger, mind you. He just likes the idea of punishment tickles for these four. Tickling any of those four always brings a smile to his face, especially if he’s trying to teach them a lesson.

Normally, Simon isn’t too interested in tickling other people, but Pit, Richter, Luigi, Mega Man, and Shulk are the five exceptions.

Like I said earlier, he likes to use punishment tickles on the first four characters in the list above. Shulk, on the other hand? Well, simply put, Simon can’t resist tickling him. He doesn’t know why, but Shulk brings out his hidden ler side (but then again, Shulk can do this to anyone without even trying).

So I guess what I am trying to say is that on the outside, Simon is somewhat neutral when it comes to tickling. But deep inside of him, he hides a ler side.

I wish I had more for Simon, but for the time being, I don’t.

So for now, I’ll move on to Richter.

Richter is far more ticklish than Simon. In fact, he is one of the most ticklish members of the Belmont lineage. He descendants might be fucked if they continue to be more ticklish than the last member of the lineage.

The mental image of the Belmont lineage going from an individual who isn’t ticklish at all to an individual who is deathly ticklish is amusing to me. Apparently, it’s also amusing to Simon, since he is Richter’s main ler. Pit, Mega Man, and Luigi will also get in on the action.

Richter has more worst spots than Simon, but they do share one worst spot: the underarms. Unlike Simon, Richter is a bit more comfortable with the idea of people touching him there. There might be a few exceptions, but for the most part, any member of the Smash roster can tickle him there, and he would be fine with it.

If you get the chance to tickle his underarms, you’ll be pleased to know that he will just collapse onto himself, he’s that ticklish there.

His other worst spots? His sides and his neck. I don’t have a reason for these two spots, they were the first two that came to mind. Tickle him on either of these two spots, and he’ll end up flinching away from your hands.

I should have mentioned this earlier, but I think Richter would be a switch with a very slight lean towards the lee side.

Didn’t Richter get brainwashed at some point in the Castlevania franchise? If so, then he might be put off by tickling for a little while due to trauma. As his time in the Smash roster goes on, however, he eventually warms up to the idea of being tickled, and he even ends up using it to confront his trauma!

Like Simon, Richter doesn’t really know how he should react to being tickled. But unlike Simon, Richter has a hard time fighting back. He’ll instead try to protect himself from the tickling hands of his ler, but unfortunately for him, this doesn’t work 99% of the time.

However, when he does fight back, it’s quite easy for him to turn the tables. He just has to power through his laughter and attack a weak spot on his ler. He can easily pin them down after that. Simon is the only one who can resist Richter’s attempts at tickling him back, though, so if Simon is Richter’s ler, he’s screwed.

Richter likes to punish people with tickles, just like his ancestor, but that’s not the only type of tickling that he likes to use on his lees. He also enjoys sneak attacks, poking his lees in passing when they least expect it. Pit tends to receive these types of tickles the most, but Simon, Mega Man, and Luigi will occasionally become the victim of these attacks as well.

When it comes to Luigi and Simon, he also likes to tickle them as a way of thanking them for helping him with his trauma. Luigi in particular gets a two-for-one deal when Richter tickles him: He is being thanked by Richter for helping him with his trauma, and he is also being tickled by him so that he can recover from his own trauma a bit quicker. I suppose you can call that a win-win situation for both Luigi and Richter!

And to end these headcanons, Richter has one more lee that he and Simon share. It is Shulk once again. Poor guy keeps attracting lers.

I can only hope that these were good headcanons. Once again, I might comeback to Simon and Richter if I ever play a Castlevania game with one of them in it, but for now, this is what I have. It was still a lot more than I expected, I’ll say that.
