Daily Danganronpa Fun Fact #213
A type of myth Korekiyo is focused on is the “Hainuwele archetype”. These are Gods who create food by excreting through their body. The Japanese variations are Ukemochi and Ogetsuhime, who are sometimes portrayed as the same person.

I still don't understand how Summer Castoria got Ector the Whale aka Susanoo's sword (Totsuka no Tsurugi, the sword that killed Ogetsuhime and Yamato no Orochi) and Mach the Eagle aka Hodr's technically not weapon (Mistilteinn, the mistletoe that killed Baldr)?
According to the fan translation:
Holy Sword Handling: A
A skill that strengthens the familiars that were extracted from the holy sword.
A version of the "Holy Sword Creation" that's only for Castoria.
Even if it's A・A who is the concept of the holy sword and the protector of the Human Order, having become a Berserker, she will only strengthen herself alone.
The familiars that appear during combat were created from the base forms (essences) of holy swords; the orca named Ector corresponds to Totsuka-no-Tsurugi and the golden eagle named Mach corresponds to Mistilteinn.
——
Watsonian: Unlike Artoria • Avalon, Castoria instead summons forth familiars based on other ‘holy swords’. This is because she can not create the swords herself, and instead her skill is directed towards ‘handling’. As for why they were selected, it’s likely due to Totsuka-no-Tsurugi’s ‘similar’ connection to taking down a ‘giant’ to Excalibur (in nasuverse at least), and Mistilteinn due to ‘similar’ connection to taking down ‘the unkillable’ to Excalibur (again, nasuverse at least).
Doylist: it’s just for the sake of Castoria being a little bit cooler. They’re big mythological ‘swords’ and all that.

Japanese Mythology & Deities
Major Gods in the Chronicles (4)
Kamimusuhi-no-kami
~The god of resurrection and rebirth of life
It is considered one of the three gods of creation, the third one to appear after Ame-no-Nakanushi and Takamimusubi.
The divine name means "spiritual power of divine generation". Together with Takamimusubi, it is a being who deifies the generative force, but while Takamisubi is strongly related to the "heaven", this god is strongly related to the "earth".
It is notable that "earth" in this case encompasses not only the real world (this world), but also in a broader sense the other worlds (the realm of the dead), such as the Borderland of Roots and the Land of the Dead (World of Darkness).
According to the myth of the origin of the five grains in the Kojiki (Records of Ancient Matters), he was the great god who brought forth the seeds of the five grains from the corpse of the goddess Ogetsuhime.
He also resurrected Ookuninushi-no-kami, who had been conspired against him by his elder brother, on two occasions during the suffering of Ookuninushi.
(*Ookuninushi-no-kami is one of the representative deities and is considered to be the presiding deity of the earthly gods.)
In the myth of Okuninushi's nation-building, he appears as an ancestor of Sukunabikona-no-kami of the Everlasting Kingdom (Utopia) and asks Sukunabikona to support him in his efforts to build a nation at a standstill.

I just want na kumain na agad. For 2 pax almost 1,400 not bad. I like the dining experience PERO ang food hindi. If siguro artist ako or sikat na personality maba-bash ako dito sa sinabi kong di masarap baka may death threat pa akong matanggap. Pero #saakinlang natuwa ako sa experience pero yong food di ko pagpapalit ang Samgyupsal. Also, since parang 700 per pax siguro I will add na lang ng 300 pesos more so I can dine in sa @ogetsuhime ... again, don't just take my word, go ahead and itry mo once in your life indi panay like lang or basa at nood ng mukbang video sa free YouTube access mo. Di kawalan ang 700 petot but instead you gained the dining experience once ma-try mo. Gigil ako sayo eh. 😅 #myfirsttimetotrytteokbokki #earliertoday (at Dookie's) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPB0uxjnkV-1DVFTza5u-LSxslc8HgqVFis1Ow0/?utm_medium=tumblr

Depending on which version of the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki stories you read, Tsukuyomi is also associated with the sea. And in the story of Ogetsuhime, Susanoo is associated with bringing 5 types of grain to the world. So maybe that? I think it’s all in reference to the Three Noble Children though!
[CW noragami manga spoilers]
so i don't know if anyone already mentioned this already but in chapter 93 of noragami when the gods are preparing for ooharai, amaterasu is standing in front of these banners
Tumblr media
and im fairly certain they all represent the most major of major kami in japan. obviously the middle one is Amaterasu. the one on the direct right would most likely be Tsukuyomi, god of the moon, and the banner on the left would be for the rice and fertility god Inari. now the ones on the far left and far right confuse me because i assume that one of them belongs to Susanoo who's god of storms and the seas so if we were to assume the far left are lightning bolts then it could be either. Idk does anyone have any other ideas? this has been really stumping me

Thank you again, @ashleygardini to get my print from Mogu Mogu series😘💕 The solo exhibition including this series at #Pho69 is still viewed until the end of April. If you don’t yet check it out, please go soon🙌 Their food is also yum😍 #Repost @lorde_grayson ・・・ “Speedy Wheat Machine” from Mogu Mogu Munch Munch... by Harumo Sato has been sold to an art collector @ashleygardini. With her tax refund, what a great way to support artists and the arts. Thank you so much! 🙏🏾🙏🏾 . . Curated by @lorde_grayson for @phantomgalleries . . Mogu Mogu Munch Munch: These five diptych screen print series are inspired by Japanese creation myth and Modern American/Japanese food system. Compared with the Ancient age, changes to the quality and quantity of flour, meat, vegetables 🌶🌽 🍅, fish 🐠, and clams (seafood) are captured through the body of the Japanese food goddess Ogetsuhime. According to the Kojiki or “Records of Ancient Matters,” Ogetsuhime was murdered by the sea god Susano-o when she discovered that she can nourish him with food produced through her orifices. The food was given as a gift from Ogetsuhime, but we seem to forget appreciation toward food and nature. This series quesiour current relationship with out food by comparing prehistoric food life and modern food life. This series was exhibited twice in New York... . #wild #paterns #mogu #mogumogu #munch #munchmunch #visual #ancient #ruins #explore #japanese #greek #roman #egyptian #phoenician #historical #design #artwork #storytelling #cultures #southfirstfridayartwalk #supportthearts #collectart (at PHO 69)

Japanese Mythology & Deities
Major Gods in the Chronicles (12)
The Birth of Japan, Kuniumi / Part 2 ~ the Eight Islands
Izanagi-no-Mikoto (♂) and Izanami-no-Mikoto (♀) returned to Kotoamazu-kami (the heavenly gods) and burned the bones of a deer to predict it. The two gods started over from where they met. ①And the child born to them was Awajinohonosawake-no-Shima - today's Awaji Island. ②Next, they gave birth to the island of Shikoku, named after two men and two women in Iyo. This island has one body and four faces. The country of Iyo is called Ehime, the country of Sanuki (today's Kagawa) is called Iyorihikoiko, and the country of Awa (today's Tokushima) is Ogetsuhime - later to appear as a food god - and the country of Tosa (today's Kochi) is called Takeyoriwake. ③Then they gave birth to the Oki Island. Also known as Ame-no-Oshikorowake. ④Then they gave birth to the island of Kyushu. This island also has one body and four faces, and each face has its own name. And the country of Tsukushi (today's Fukuoka) is called Shirahiwake, Toyokuni (today's Oita) is called Toyohiwake, the country of Hie (today's Nagasaki & Saga) is called Takehimukai-toyokujihinewake, the country of Kumaso (today's Kumamoto) is called Takehiwake. Also known as Ame-no-Oshikorowake.
⑤Then they gave birth to the island of Iki. It is also known as Ame-no-hitotsubashira.
⑥Then they then gave birth to Tsushima. It is also known as Ame-no-sadeyorihime.
⑦Then they gave birth to the island of Sado.
⑧Finaly, they then gave birth to the island of Oyamato-toyoakitsushima (Yamato, today's Honshu island), also known as Amatsumisora-toyoakitsunewake. The two gods gave birth to these eight islands, and therefore this country is called Oyashima no Kuni (the land of the eight islands).
