rhys's presence had a way of making jupiter roll her eyes without even thinking. it was like the annoyance seeped all the way into her bones, and she had to cross her arms to hold it inside so she didn't offend anyone that may be within earshot. and yet there she was, walking directly up to him with a cold expression on her face, ready to enter in the battle that they always did. jupiter just kept coming back for more.

juliet had been dancing when her friends for a while, it had been the most fun she'd had in what felt like years. she laughed when she broke away from the group and started to make her way towards the bar for a drink.

after she'd paid for her drink, she took towards the front door and stepped outside for some fresh air. "sorry, i didn't mean to intrude." she apologied when she realised someone else was out there

Ric gave a small shrug, "If me as the new guy can catch one of those things, when there's been people trying for years, then we know something is wrong." He pressed forwards, using the end of the rifle to push some branches from their path. "But no, figured it's best to keep one on me at all times. Especially if I'm coming out here by myself." Quick to assume, he looked her over once, "you're unarmed? And alone?"

Were people getting weirder, or just completely lost at all costs? she wasn't sure, and frankly didn't bother with the thought. he at least understood he would have met resistance. she wasn't light on her moves, so at least he apologized. noting the rifle in hand "were you hoping to catch one of those things using that?" she gestured to his weapon, but walked alongside him nonetheless. "let's get going."

agreeing to attend the ball had been a last minute decision from her. the lack of sleep was getting to her and she hoped attending something like the ball would tire her out enough to allow her some hours of sleep. odette nervously stood on the sidelines watching the ball in full swing of people enjoying themselves and drinks flowing freely.

it was nice to get out from behind the desk and get to attend a town event. her daughter was off running around with her friends and it gave her a night off. approaching the bar, rowan ordered her usual and smiled to the person next to her as a hello.

violet's really not used to the small town (at least by comparison to the places she was used to), and she's especially not used to walking into a bar and not having to flag down the bartender and wait forever for her turn. she slides into a seat at the mostly empty bar, shooting him a smile. "don't suppose you have any of those fun little colorful umbrellas?"

Nadia had not ventured much outside of the commune since arriving in town. She had managed to see her family once, right before the geyser, and she had gone through a strained meeting to handle their late family's affairs with her little sister, after the geyser. But she knew she couldn't hide in the old Parsons house forever.

She had her mind set on heading to the lake, her favourite place in town, in the hopes that reminding herself of simpler times would give her some idea of what to do with herself now. But as luck would have it, she was barely a few of steps off the property when she saw what can only be described as the human personification of Simpler Times coming up the driveway. "Elliot?" she asked. Without thinking, she ran up and threw her arms around him, a mixture of shock and relief at seeing her old friend.

He wasn't proud of the gurgling noise he made, but shit that sounded good. "Reminds me a bit of a dulce de leche. Fuck yeah man, I'll try that! Get a little bit of home."

Smiling, he was fond of lattes as well. "if you like sweet, you could try their caramel macchiato. it has a vanilla flavor and caramel drizzle, with any choice of milk." he chuckled.

ivy-rose had been in town for longer than she'd care to remember, and yet, she never quite got her head around the normality of the town. ignoring what came out at night, the town ticked by with events like the ball. she supposed that it was a nice distraction for everyone but it still felt strange to her that everyone collectively ignored the looming problems at the promise of a party.

her eyes looked around the room, overwhelmed at everything on offer. "they really go all out for these things, huh?"
