who is starr carter, anyway?
i'm still asking myself that question. i don't really know.
well, y'all know me. i'm big mav's daughter who works at the store. but i'm not just big mav's daughter; i'm starr.
my life is going relatively well, given everything that's happened. first, i'm glad school's finally out. summers in garden heights always felt so short. but we're not in garden heights anymore. my mom got a new job in the suburbs, so we just moved into a bigger house closer to where my uncle lives. you guys will probably hate us for that. but don't worry, we'll rebuild the store and make it bigger and better than ever. y'all will still see us around the garden and stuff. we'll still care about it, try to make changes, even if our house isn't there anymore. that won't change, i promise. mr lewis, the barber, is retiring and offered to give his shop to my dad so he can expand the grocery. i still hate king for that, even though he did go to jail. he's probably already back out there in his dumb gray cadillacs.
i'll be a senior next year! my school, williamson, will feel different, after everything that's happened. but i'm glad i have chris. i admire him for sticking with us, supporting me, through everything, and while we protested. he's brave for that. he's white, by the way. he acts kinda black though, which is hilarious. seven - my brother - is going to college. we convinced him not to go to central community and to one of the good schools he got into, somewhere far out of the city. if he makes good decisions he'll have a bright future. he wants to be an engineer, and i think he would make a great one. and sekani...we don't need to talk about him. annoying as ever. please don't read this sekani!! if you do, know that i will always love you.
my parents seem to be less stressed, now that we're in a calmer neighborhood. as long as the riots stop, but i don't know when they will. folks still be mad. so am i. daddy's store can't get burned down again, haha. i don't think i'll ever not be mad. khalil could've had so much. he could've been...i don't want to think about that. he was a great person, with a great heart. he was just in a bad situation, and he couldn't get out. that's how it is in america, systemic racism. but i will always have him in my heart, i will always love him.
i can't believe i'll be a senior though. that means i'll be off to college in no time. i don't even know what i want to be. not a nurse, like my mom. i don't want to deal with sick and bloody people all the time. maybe i'll go into law, or politics. i admire ms ofrah for what she does. she offered to be my lawyer pro bono during the whole ordeal, and she guided me through everything and motivated me to speak out. i want to be like her. if i'm a politician, i know i'll only be one person out of hundreds, and it'll be so hard to make a change, but slowly and steadily, i'll do it. i won't stop. and when it's all said and done, the world will be a better place. whatever it takes.

The setting sun filled the lounge with light, gilding everything from the furniture to the picture frames to the motes of dust floating through the air. It was the morning after the protest for Khalil. The day I used my voice. I had just been on the phone with Ms. Ofrah who wanted to apologize for putting me in a bad situation the night before. Once i sat up on my bed, I picked up my phone from my nightstand. There were messages from Chris, Maya and of all people, Hailey. โIโm sorryโ was the exact text she sent me. She said that she was sorry for the decision and that I was upset with her. The fact that Hailey was not apologizing for her previous actions and just that I was upset irked me. And although part of me wished that Hailey could realize how terribly wrong she was, I had to accept that she may never. But I guess thatโs okay now because I donโt have to wait for her to change anymore.ย
I kept putting off the bad things Hailey would say or do because we had been friends for a long time. However, Iโve come to realize that some friendships fade over time and when the other personโs interests donโt align with yours, you have to let them go. Hailey and Iโs relationship had run itโs course, but it wasnโt making me feel good anymore. And so I did what I should have done a while ago: I deleted my conversation with Hailey and deleted her number from my phone as well. I knew it was the right thing to do and that it was better for the both of us.

The Hate U Give (2018) dir. George Tillman Jr. 7.6/10
Amandlaโs acting is so good. Her smile and laughter is also very cute and sheโs so naturally pretty.
This was a good visualization of what (could) happen(s). I didnโt feel any cringe and just felt real.
The concept of non threatening black people being okay is prevalent in life.
Look at Tumblr making an appearance.
It was good to see Starrโs family be so healthy with one another.
Spoiler: [About Maverick and his wife teaching his kids what to do if a cop pulls them over. He ensures that they donโt touch anything they drop, put their hands on the dashboard, and so on. It also involves the 10 point program. His daughter, Starr, is now 16 and she lives in Garden Heights, but transferred to Williamson Prep after the death of her friend, Natasha.ย She has two brothersโSeven and Sekani. Maverick owns a store where everyone comes to gossip. He used to work for King, a drug lord and Sevenโs other dad. Starr goes to her prep school, where she has her white boyfriend, Chris, and her best friends, Hailey and Maya.ย Her life here is different than the one in Garden Heights since she aims to not seem hood. She can see how people judge her and her boyfriend for dating. She goes to a party one night in Garden Heights with Sevenโs half sister, Kenya. Starr sees Khalil, her childhood best friend, who is attractive to her. They talk and when shots are fired at the party, they run and he drives her away. They stop to talk and he kisses her, but she tells him that she has a boyfriend. They later get pulled over by a cop. Starr immediately puts her hands on the dash and wants Khalil to do the same and cooperate. When he starts questioning the officer, he gets brought out of the car. When she starts recording a video on her phone, the cop makes her stop. When the cop goes to his car to run the license, Khalil reaches in to the car to get his hairbrush. The cops believes itโs a weapon and shoots and kills him. Starr is brought in for questioning and she mentions the officerโs badge number and about everything that happened. When she gets questioned about Khalil doing drugs, her cop uncle, Carlos, comes and saves her. Her family visits Khalilโs place and talk with his mom. Carlos mentions an investigation with the officer and Maverick argues with him.ย Starr goes back to school and while playing basketball with her friends, she confronts Hailey on a racist thing she said, but calms down after Hailey justifies it.ย The killing becomes sensational news and they mention a witness coming to testify in front of the jury. Kenya tells Starr that she knows itโs her and wants her to step up to testify. They get picked up by King, who drops them off at Maverickโs store. King tells Maverick that itโs better for her not to testify.ย At the funeral, April Ofrah, a civil rights lawyer, comes to talk about what happened and she later leads peaceful protesting. Starrโs parents argue about whatโs best for her. Starr reblogs a post about the wrongful death of black people on Tumblr and Hailey unfollows her. Starr talks with April and discuss what happened and what happens next. She brings up the story of Natashaโs death from a driveby shooting and how she never brought up how a king lord, who is now dead, did it. She decides she wants to testify for Khalil now. At school, everyone ditches class because of the protesting and Starr gets upset since theyโre using it as an excuse and donโt really care.ย She has Carlos pick her up and she testifies anonymously. She does an interview and ends up mentioning the King Lords. During a dinner outing with her family, Starr sees King and his crew come up. Maverick fights one of them when they talk about Starr being stupid for what she did. Cops come and the Kings leave. Maverick gets searched and since his wallet is inside, his family brings it out and Starr starts recording. When they try to stop her, she explains that itโs her right. At home, Maverick makes them say the ten point program. When sheโs hanging out with Maya and Hailey, they start watching the news and Hailey talks about how the officer deserves to be treated better. Starr confronts her and even brings up the Tumblr unfollowing. Hailey says she just doesnโt know Starr anymore. Starr goes to prom and Chris talks to her about how sheโs the witness. She talks with him about how sheโs living two different lives. She talks about her relationship with Khalil and when Chris mentions that he doesnโt see color, she tries to convince him to see her
blackness. He brings her home and meets Maverick, who doesnโt really approve. A driveby shooting happens at their house and the family is brought to Carlosโs place. Seven and Maverick leave them behind to defend their home and confront King. Starr talks with Carlos about his mentality as a cop and confirms that itโs racist. She goes to testify in front of the jury. She later sees Hailey and when Starr mentions her being racist, she denies it. Starr brings up specific examples and when Hailey mentions that Starr is different because sheโs non threatening and that Khalil was a drug dealer and deserved it, Starr threatens and scares Hailey. She breaks down in Chrisโs car. They go home and discover that King had hurt Seven and is looking for Starr. Sevenโs mom, Iesha, makes them leave and distracts King later.ย They drive away and see protesting happening. They learn that the jury decided not to indict the officer. Starr has Chris help by taking her brothers home. She then joins the protest and speaks through a loudspeaker about her experience. Riots break out and Starr manages to go with Seven to Maverickโs store to get milk for the tear gas. King and his men end up throwing in a Molotov, entrapping the kids in fire. Some neighbors try to help them and Maverick gets them out. King and Maverick confront each other until Sekani draws a gun on King. The cops arrive and Starr raises her hands in front of Sekani and talks to the cops. They lower their guns and so does Sekani. King gets arrested later after the community reveals everything on what he did. Starr visits Khalilโs home and keeps his memory alive.]

DMX's EXODUS Album Release or Let My People Go, Aaliyah and Prince of Egypt
Friday May 28th 5.28.21 148th day/ 217 remains Waning Gibbous Illumination 94%/ 6% Darkness
Today is the release of EXODUS or rather DM-Xodus. 13 tracks of messages he wanted to convey. At least we think it's the way he wanted it. I sampled it today and plan on purchasing a physical copy of EXODUS. Notice DMX's tattoo of Exodus 1:7 on his NECK above his collar bone-Clavicle (Keys).
Today is meaningful for this release is 3 days after George Floyd 1st memorial of his neck being kneed by ExOfficer Shauvin, 2 days after Lunar Eclipse, and Historical Story of the Real Exodus which is part of the Passover season, Pentecost/Shavuot. It is 9 weeks since Passover began, 7 weeks from DMX's passing on Friday, April 9th (99th day).
Exodus basically means-Get Out.
So if we place it on top of the Biblical EXODUS when Moses is said to have asked Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh, to "Let his People Go" and got them out, later facilitation 10 plagues, splitting the Red Sea, and bringing the 10 Commandments down from the Mountain of Sinai/ Horeb, it's timed perfectly. Since DMX collapsed on Good Friday during Passover, he is now part of this story.
What is shocking is that while I was writing this, a strange connection popped up. I watched a famous movie about Moses and the Exodus, called "The Prince of Egypt" just yesterday and I knew there was a connection with DMX album release. But guess what...Lakia Jai TV happened to do a reaction today and the movie was released on December 18th, DMX's Birthday....

Just to go even more deep. Let's bring Aaliyah to the table. Aaliyah and her family where known friends with Earl Simmons,DMX. And in this case both related to Ancient Egypt. For remember Aaliyah played Queen Akasha of Egypt in 2002 "Queen of the Damned" Her name is also related to the Exodus story and the "Hebrews" that left Egypt to find their own "Promised Land" which became Israel after 40 years wandering in the "wilderness." Israel is the place the "Hebrews" want to return, but the Palestinians resided for centuries. Their religious "right of return" is called Aaliyah. Look it up. There was an 11 day war in just days ago in the Holy Land over the Exodus/ Exile and Aaliyah. We are indeed living in critical times...And it's just beginning.
The Hebrew word for Letting Go is Selah. Well as a people who have been enslaved in this Land of called America for the 400 years Kanye spoke of, we have not been set free like Moses did. In the Movie that Aaliyah sang the theme song and was nominated for an American Academy Award, Anastasia, the "Con Artist" sang about "The Greatest Con in history." in the song HAVE YOU HEARD the Rumor...Anastasia means she will RIse AGAIN...Resurrection. Aaliyah rose again as Queen Akasha and Anastasia in Journey to the Past. Resurrection Sunday, Easter, after Good Friday when DMX "OD" literally Died and was revived.
What is the CON? ExCON. Convict. So Dark the Convict of Man. INstead of Madonna on the Rocks, we'll have to add "vict." convictions of man. Religious convictions have killed millions of people through the ages. People killing in the name of "GOD" is pretty dark. The Crusades was a war last millennia to protect the Holy Land from the Dark Men called Moor/Muslims. The movie says that it was actually a cover up of the Priory militia called the Knights Templar, for the Catholic Church to retrieve treasures and land. So many Palestians had to make Exodus/Exile and become refugees in other lands, just like now.
Just trying to put 3 and 2 together to figure this out. All I can say is DMX, Aaliyah, and let's add Whitney Houston and Ofrah Haza to the list of Exodus rituals for the Dark Con of Man. Whitney sang a duet with Mariah Carey in the Prince of Egypt movie theme song... And the enchanting voice of Yemenis Israeli Ofrah also passed mysteriously and suddenly of AIDS after the release of the movie. Her husband never got HIV, yet they said she had it unknowingly.

WHERE: Cairo, Egyptย
There is one week until the expedition begins, and itโs already a mess. With little preparation and planning in advance, they are down to the wire with a bare bones team and minimal idea of where they are going. The worst part about not being prepared is that they donโt know exactly how unprepared they are. Which is exactly why they need some local professionals to join them in order to prevent a silly mistake from causing total disaster.ย
So, BEN GOODWIN, is currently roaming the streets of Cairo, asking the citizens if there are any tour guides for hire, or even just someone who could give them some insight as to how to safely cross the desert. Most of the people of Cairo ignore him and others offer wild goose chases, but there is one name that keeps coming up repeatedly: RAMSES SAMIR. It took awhile to find him, but now that Ben has united with the young local, itโs imperative that he convince Ramses to join the mission, or else the team might be headed out into certain danger totally oblivious.ย
Meanwhile,ย VIOLET OLDFIELD and HAROLD BERL are at The Eygptian Museum of Antiques, going through the Goodwinsโ temporary office. With both the personal collection and some borrowed pieces accessible to the team, the two must pack up what they feel is necessary and wonโt be useless weight for the journey. Perhaps, it was Edith who should have been doing this but she delegated the job to her assistant and nephew. The two of them are in charge of packing maps, translation guides, and any other book that might offer some insight on how to survive the desert and the tomb.ย
EDITH GOODWIN is preoccupied anyway, currently at the hotel in Cairo where the group is staying. In the lounge, their designated meeting place and collective recreation area, Edith was writing a letter when she was interrupted by the sound of OFRAH SELASSIE and MERYEM ALKAN arguing, rather loudly. As the self-declared leader of the mission, Edith should be the one to quell arguments as they break out. But Ofrah and Meryem both seemย determined to stay at each other's throats when discussing varied opinions about how to approach the mission and stay safe. With antagonism rising so early on, the expedition is sure to be filled with disagreements.ย
While thatโs going on, ANTHONY PEREZ, the benefactor of the expedition is trying to find more assistance for the team. Heโs heard rumors of twin brothers who can offer services vital for any adventure. So he heads to the combination mechanics shop and boxerโs gym where the two have been seen hanging around the past couple days. There he finds them, looking even taller and broader than the rumors caused him to anticipate. SEAN and SHAWN RHODES-GOLDMAN are available for hire but Anthony suspects no one would be stupid enough to go out into the desert without some convincing.ย
THE OBJECTIVE: Prepare for the expedition and recruit additional members.ย
