barik offtanking forgefire words that mean nothing to anyone following me mewst likely vwv
but i've been consumed with the thought that forgefire, a talent that removes his ultimate's shield and weakens the flamethrower turret that isn't primary benefit, but lets you have two of them that last longer and reduces the cost down to 40% (with the full 100% bar as "extra ammo"), is suited alot better to the off-tank's role than barik's usual/obligate point-tank role by being off of the point, the most contested part of the map, the disadantage of not having the additional shield (and of not getting the shield amplification talent) to allievate pressure is much less of an issue, same going for the disadvantage of the flame-turret being deleted in seconds having flame-turrets gives you greater space control, both in the sense of simply being able to freelyish place one during a fire fight for extra damage, and in the sense of being able to "occupy" more space by leaving one near a support, which can either damage enough to push the 1v1 against a flank in their favor or buy enough time for barik to dash back though both of these things are doable with base barik turrets too, even though those have almost a third of the dps barik's dash is i beleive the mobility tool in the tank class with the best turning/handability (maybe besides ruckus if considering air mobility as a factor), while having much lower distance/duration than the Mobile Front-Lines, which alongside the "create turrets" nature of his kit pushes him into being a more passive off-tank, But accounting for a loadout stacking dash reset duration and shielding, with his closer-range weapon, he would likely be capable of attempting dives And getting out of them in a way more comaprable to ruckus than the other passive-offtanks maybe?
#i'm probably wildly overestimating the effectivness of flame turrets and honyestly having the actual ult would be Much more useful for the#overtime pointtank died offtasnk go in and contest for them scenario#i didnyot explain that the role of an offtank in paladins is to control/contest space that would be useful for the enemy#(mostly area near the point that would be useful for attacking the tank on it or for diving your supports)#((i think though i might be really offbase with that description >w>))

i finally decided to spend my old comp points on sigma's golden weapon* and i didn't realize it made his paws gold too ;-;
*i was deliberating forever... i got into the game because of roadhog and i learned how to offtank with him but in the single tank meta i basically never play him anymore orz
sigma has some of the best sprays too, my fav genres are
1) mc escher psychosis
2) black hole brain damage
#i set the talon weapon charm to apply to every character because i 🖤 talon#while the charm stuck into his hand like that is funny i feel like it goes without saying they do all sorts of unethical body mods to him#video game dress up doll time#parasite gaming

(FFXIV Raid guide voice) After resolving “Energeia”, the party will be hit by another “Doxa” raidwide (heal and mitigate accordingly) and then Jeronomo will cast “Confluence of Apathy”. The other tank will get a Bingo debuff, which is why we need to do a tank swap during the tankbuster, while DPS will get a Bongo debuff, Healers will get targeted by either a square AOE or a circle AOE and need to place them on the edge of the arena at east and west. The offtank with the Bingo buff needs to go in the square hole made by the AOE of the same shape while the DPS’s with the Bongo buff follow the party North to survive the proximity hit from the delayed circle AOE and avoid the frontal cleave Jeronomo does which the maintank will angle South. Only after those resolve, will the DPS’s be able to go to the Circle hole and resolve their Bongo buff. Takes a second, but pretty simple. Now this is going to be the wall of the fight, the hardest mechanic, here’s how you do “Fuck you, it’s geometry”—

This patch I started to tank as BLU mage. I realize this is the most difficult role to fill at pf and see so many complains about BLU doesnt being a "real tank" -which is true but a lot of BLU mages aren't doing the tanking well. So here are my spells and advices for BLU mage tanking.
Disclaimer: English isn't my first language so...
For grabbing and holding aggro
#27 The Look. Amazing, it's AoE for taking aggro. But you must be aware that if the mobs move, they be outside the aoe when you finish the cast and wont ger aggroed. This happens very often because other BLU entered in their radio before you finish the cast. Thats why I recommend j Kick or Supernakha to catch their attention and then the look.
#31 Sticky tongue: draw-in spell which increased aggro. Useful for one lost enemy in the pull. But be aware of the radius of the spell.
#97 Hydro Pull: draw-in AoE spell. Be aware of the radius.
#62 Frog Legs: The BLU's provoke. Use it to reasure your aggro.
#61 Avail: The BLU's Shirk.
Advice on aggro and tankbusters:
Very important for all the party!!! some tankbusters are based on aggro (fine, you can hold it by reassuring while to while with Frog legs) BUT others are based on roles and you all are dps classes so these will be random. All BLU should have #29 Diamonback for these.
For mitigation
#77 Aetheric Mimicry /Tank) & #30 Mighty Guard. They're basic.
#32 Toad Oil: 20% more evasion. Use it in cooldown.
#29 Diamonback: Blocks 90% of the damage and nulify the knockback and drawin effects. Think about it as your invul. You cant move for 10s. With good timing you can survive to more than one mechanic with this. It's expensive in MP but has little recast time and will help your healers so much! Don't fear to use it for hard tankbusters.
#95 Dragon Force: 40% mit.
#89 Chelonian Gate: 20% mit with a relative fast recast, it reflect dmg when you take >30% of your HP. Very useful! You can mover but shouldnt since It will end the effect.
#75 Devour: Increases your HP in 20%
#107 Schiltron, #49 Veil of the Whorl or #16 Ice Spikes: These counter some dmg you take. Ice Spikes is the weakest of these, pick the one you like most.
#117 Force Field: It grants 50% physical mit OR 50% magic mit but you cant choose which one so I don't really like it. I feel you can rotate dragon force, chelonian gate, and diamondback safely and drop this.
Advices on mit:
This is important!!! Even with the tank stance and Mighty guard your HP will be the HP of a dps class so you won't have a "real tank" HP pool. You NEED to mitigate, specially the tankbusters. Plus BLU healers doesn't have the big toolset that a "real healer" has, and the res spells has a very long recast so you need to help your party by taking less damage and not dying.
Be careful because your "real tank" mits are instant and the BLU mits must be casted. You'll taking a race on which castbar ends before: your mit or the tankbusters one. So your reaction must be on time!
For Utility and support
#28 Bad Breath: Very usefull for debuff enemies, even the bosses usually take some of the debuffs.
#70 Cactguard: 15% mit for other party member. Useful if you're offtanking, you put it on the MT. Or if you're MT you can put it on healer in danger situations.
#13 White Wind , #73 Exuviation or #108 Rehydration : pick one or two healing spell for backup for your party. Exuviation is aoe and removes debuffs from your friends.
#72 Angel Whisper: Always usefull!! The res spell. Since it has a veeeeeery long recast time it's prefered to all BLUs to have it.
#57 Eerie Soundwave: remove buffs of the enemy.
For Damage:
#104 Nightbloom or #9 Song of Torment: DoT, always useful.
#105 Goblin Punch: instaspell for basic dmg spam spell. Must be in melee range. It's single target.
#63 Sonic Boom: the basic dmg spam speel. Useful when you're away of the boss. It's single target.
#80 J Kick: Gap-closer, useful for start a pull.
#97 Hydro Pull: Pulls enemies to you, usefull for dungeon pulls. Aoe.
#31 Sticky Tongue: Pull in one enemy to you. It stuns also and increases aggro.
#78 Supernakha: Usefull primal spell, and useful for starting a pull at dungeons.
#75 Devour: It restores some HP.
#33 Ram's Voice & #92 Ultravibration: Always usefull for dungeons.
#109 Breath of Magic and #121 Mortal Flame: BIG DoTs but only one of each can be active so only one BLU must cast them. I like it to be the tank or healers so the dps has more room for other big dmg spells.
Hope some of this would be useful to you if you want to try the BLU tanking. Once you get used to the different way of aggroing at dung pulls and to casting the mits it gets very fun and challenging!
Feel free to add your own suggestions!

wasted so much time assigning the tcsm friend group/my friends' muses as ffxiv classes:
leland - paladin boy i shan't lie. just some guy with a sword and shield that is very devoted. he's your offtank that stands beside u and puts cover on the main tank or the healer or dps to take the hit and is like [coughing up blood with 8 vuln stacks] im good (: also bc standing in front of the squad w paladin protective light wings goes crazy. paladins aren't always the best main tanks but they are great support offtanks and have a ton of healing/shielding abilities like intervention. can take the heat off you by redirecting damage that u would have taken straight onto himself. tank stance called iron will (: he could also be a gunbreaker bc thancred sexy dumbass gnb energies but i just dont think we should let him have a gun.
connie - machinist or summoner - i just think that connie should get to have a gun that she built herself and also automaton queen to defend her who she also built herself. machinists are specialist dps that are not very tanky bc they're phys ranged but they do big numbers. they're versatile and mobile and also she gets a flamethrower and poison? also ability called wildfire teehees. mch whole thing is just rebelling against the lame people who dont want u to invent new shit but u do it anyway. i think she could also be a summoner bc she gets a lil carbuncle bestie. and yeah the weapon is a book but she can summon the primals like a big phoenix nbd. also a lot of party utility in that she can buff the team's attack and healing, resurrect people, and heal.
danny - dark knight - danny (renee's danny TO BE CLEAR) is a tank be so for real. the whole dark knight thing is no matter what i will always be with you protecting you. not to call him out but you have to be Inherently Going Through it to even be a dark knight. it's also like, the rebel tank class compared to the more royal guard types... their tank stance is also called 'grit'. their visual theming is all shadowy but in the most 'i love u i am ur tank' way. u can summon fray who is like shadow u to fight with u. u can put the blackest night on ur teammates to protect them. also ur invuln ability? it's called living dead and you straight up have to die to activate it and if the timer runs out without u getting healed u fuckin Die for real. but if you do enough dps to heal urself/ur healers care u you come back to life with even more dps
maria - white mage - white mage is a nature magic healer, who can channel elements and light, and is the strongest pure healer in the game. earliest whm quests are about going around healing dark places in nature and being in tune w the natural world. also got some holy energies bc ur abilities turn to bright light at a later level. uses light magic angel wings to protect their team and can summon a big flower that heals everyone. uses lilies to heal teammates, which powers up the b l o o d l i l y bar so u can cast afflatus misery and nuke an enemy after you do a certain amount of healing. whm rly like The Most Healer but also every whm i know including me goes a bit sadistic sometimes bc we do super big dps for a healer- anyway
donnie - gunbreaker - wait the truth is donnie is the sexy foolish thancred energy required to be a gunbreaker. ur weapon? a gun that's also a sword that shoots magic rounds that come from ur own aether/life force bro. gnbs have a lot of utility and are more dps-y thank some other tanks are. all the gnb mains i know are chaotic tbh. idk their abilities also go sicko mode w the names. demon edge? demon slaughter? no mercy? brutal shell? heart of light/heart of stone/heart of corundum? also superbolide is their invulnerability and u know what u do? u shoot urself with ur own gun go down to 1hp and are invincible for a time. gunbreakers are like bodyguards for hire in their story they are kind of doing their own thing and sticking to loyalty to their homies which feels donnie. to be fair i can also see bard bc musician moment but i also see dragoon bc chaotic melee player vibes. dragoons are called floor tanks for a reason bc they are tanking the floor dead-
johnny - warrior bc warriors pull up with their giant battle axe are feral and unkillable and then they hit that rage mode (inner release/infuriate etc) where their eyes go red and their dps skyrockets. they have literally so many mitigations that heal both themselves and their teammates that usually scale in healing by how much damage they do to an enemy. like mmm blood. delicious. im so for real tho when im healing a warrior in a dungeon they pull wall to wall enemies and i barely have to heal them if they're good. their abilities are called shit like shake it off, bloodwhetting, onslaught, berserk, primal rend, decimate, thrill of battle, overpower, u see what im getting at bro. also their tank stance is called defiance. ur just going sicko mode but also ur protecting ur homies.
ana - monk or warrior - i know that ana is A Tank but i don't know if any of them are truly The Vision. but melee dps are basically tanks and have the highest aggro so like. if the tanks die the boss immediately turns around to beat ur ass-- no but monks are very versatile. they are tanky martial artists who also provide team utility and have a lot of ways of healing/protecting themselves. all the monk players i know will be surviving shit they never should have survived i will tell u that. anyway i think she could also be a warrior bc warriors never die they have 50435345245 mitigations and they can also protect their their team. pain is nothing bitch-
sonny - scholar - sonny is giving 'tired but dedicated shield healer' energy so sincerely. scholars weapon is a book, their intellect, and a fairy summon that heals the team. scholar is a technical class with a lot of versatility and utility, can buff the team, can make em run super fast to escape boss mechs, can put down giga shields, can clutch save ur dumbass tanks life. can cover a lot of areas, do a bit of everything. i also think it's so cute to think of sonny w his little fairy eos/selene.
julie - dancer - julie is fr sure dancer bc everyone wants to be dance-partnered by her bc being dance partner means she gives you special buffs. and also she's hot. dancer is also super team utility focused, they do less damage overall in exchange for buffing her teammates, being able to heal and shield as well. very mobile, uses funky chakrams for weapons. playing dancer is hilarious sometimes im like [dancing and crying while my teammates are dying around me]
if danny gaines was here he would probably be machinist tbh as you can see i put effort in here-

hai i am not saying this a joke or anything I genuinely want to see every answer for that oc game :)
[ask game]
YESSSSSSSS HELL YEAH
I'm gonna do these for seonjin bc i'm thinking about him. here is a sneak peak at his new design also:
answers under the cut bc there are a lot
I typically associate seonjin with the color purple, though in character i doubt he cares much about it. typically he wears a lot of blacks, dark blues and greys.
Seonjin would like hard rock, though he's adamant that anything written after 2000 is trash. he would never admit this, but he also listens to a lot of NELL and other tearjerker kpop. I don't know about his favorite song, but I associate him with sabotage by the beastie boys
As for weapon of choice, seonjins weapon in Ad Terra is a revolver, but he never uses it because he doesn't have many bullets. Seonjin believes he can outwit or avoid other people (and zombies) 99% of the time so he doesn't feel the need to weigh himself down carrying a big weapon. If push comes to shove though, he thinks the revolver's intimidation factor should be enough.
Seonjin is resourceful in some ways and just refuses to try in others. he's stubborn about not knowing how to build things, mend clothing, etc. but he's survived on his own for a long time so he knows how to meet his needs.
In Ad Terra, seonjin favors practicality and freedom of movement over anything else, but in normalverse he's definitely more of an aesthetic guy. he owns WAY too many shoes. he doesn't have an interest in fashion though, it's more of a status thing for him.
Again, how seonjin wears his hair differs in normalverse vs. Ad Terra. In normalverse he has a stylish and very well maintained haircut, but in Ad Terra he bleaches his hair and basically has a mullet. go figure.
He likes orcas and narwhals he thinks they're cool as hell
Seonjin's only nickname is his gamer tag, PRinCe. He didn't choose it for any strong reason, he just thought it sounded good and he thought it would be cool to change it to, like, King or something when he made a name for himself
His favorite food is ribs prepared absolutely any way. He's definitely a picky eater, he hates fish and anything fishy. Tragically he is also lactose intolerant.
Seonjin does not wear jewelry, but he does think it'd be cool to get his ears pierced at some point. He likes gold more than silver but I don't think he has a favorite gem other than "most expensive."
What he has in common with me? hmmm. we both play offtank and try to live in the present, i guess. he's different in that he is... ruthless isn't quite the right word, but he is goal-oriented to the extreme and actively tries not to be approachable. I think i'd get along with him better than with most of my other ocs, but we wouldn't be close.
He's been around for... what, 3 years now? His original concept was very loose and I don't remember when he really started to carve himself out. I haven't decided on a birthday for him yet, but he was born in '99. As for what he thinks about celebrating birthdays, he'd say it isn't really important to him but he definitely cares.
Seonjin is a native korean speaker and also speaks english very fluently!
He's, like, fine with numbers and he'd be better if he tried, but he doesn't really care about math
His family is just him, his parents, and his paternal grandparents. When he was growing up it was just him and his parents, but after he left to compete in the US his parents moved in with his grandparents. In Ad Terra, he lives by himself, but he doesn't stay anywhere too long.
Seonjin doesn't have pets, but he's always wanted to get a hamster and thinks they're the perfect animal.
He spent most of his summers/free time gaming, and the rest of it working at a relative's store.
Seonjin doesn't care if someone lies or steals (and does so often himself), but killing is WAY too far. Generally, his main priority is survival and he understands when others lie to or steal from him to do the same
Seonjin gets angry very easily, but he's very good at taking a deep breath, pushing it aside, and not letting his emotions control him. Notable exceptions are when his past as a booster is brought up as a gotcha or when someone (nyangi) goes too far.
Seonjin cannot drive and will never learn. public transit sweep!!!!!
His favorite place to be is at home. He doesn't get to come back often (or at all in Ad Terra), so he misses it a lot.
Seonjin's sleep is segmented and he usually wakes up a few times throughout the night. he prefers to take short naps as opposed to long sleeps.
His voice is gentle and he typically speaks casually. He's on the low end of the tenor spectrum? I think he could sing if he wanted to, but he never does.
Seonjin does not have any creative hobbies, but he'd find woodcarving fun if he tried it out.
His eyesight is like, fine, but his hearing is a bit below average. he makes up for this by having REALLY good intuition.
seonjin is super agile! he's quick on his feet and very flexible.
(changing this to favorite game instead of favorite sport for obvious reasons) he plays Fantasy Overwatch professionally, but seonjin's all time favorite game is Fantasy Quake
Seonjin shows he cares by like. keeping an eye out and going out of his way to be helpful to them. as for how he shows he dislikes someone... he doesn't care. if he doesn't like them, they're a fly buzzing in his ear, nothing more.
the element i associate him with is fire, but in my superpower AU he's got earth magic for plot reasons LMAO
I don't think he smells like anything particular. just very neutral
Seonjin likes receiving gifts, but he never knows what to do with them because generally he's already gotten himself whatever he needs. he really hates giving gifts because he assumes other people are the same and also don't like novelties (but he gives them anyways if its socially required). his ideal gift? a gift card to his favorite restaurant. he doesn't think anyone pays attention to him or what he likes/dislikes, so someone taking the time to figure that out would mean a lot to him.
odd habbits? not really... he's laser focused on his goals and doesn't care to do anything but work towards them.
How my other characters would describe him... most of them would describe him as hardworking and amicable, but more standoffish and forgettable than anything else. nyangi on the other hand would say he's a manipulative spiteful sonofabitch. sale would say the same thing as everyone else, but add that they feel sorry for him.
seonjin would describe himself as someone who never gives up and who's stronger than anyone else believes he is. he prides himself on his intuition and work ethic.
In normalverse, Seonjin returns home as much as he can (which isn't often). In Ad Terra? he can't return home, and in more ways than he thinks.

I'm thinking 1 tank, 1 offtank and 2 mages or something like that?

atlas 🤝 nyx the "excessively overextend into the enemy becuase you can use your ability to negate the last few seconds of damage" technique
#paladins#atlas does it Alot better since its on cooldown but as im trying to learn atlas i got some nyx ultimate flashbacks fjkdnsjfk#also i just had my most successful to date game of 'offtank terminus' where i literally just played in the enemies half of the map#the entire second half of that map (without actually keeping any dps alive tbh >w>)#in the process forcing the dash-talent fernando to be point-tank fndsjkfns#(the enemy backline is not really the off-lane and there weren't any enemy tanks and it wasn't ranked though >w>)

I actually feel like this is what killed overwatch.
They rebalanced and optimized around the league.
This is gonna be a lil longer
As an example mercy was changed because she became a "must pick" in the meta.
And thats essentialy how it went with everything else.
Back then we had "atackers" "defenders" and "supporters" now the atackers and defenders were put into 1 category the dps.
Also the idea to reduce it down to 1 tank and reduce the players per team was weird because the issue with the shield meta and dive combs was the fact that the game was meant to be played with a maintank (Rheinhard orisa etc) and an offtank (d.va,roadhog)
So instead of making off tank it's own role they just buffed tanks to no end in general.

Could I sue blizzard for cancelling PVE in OW2 and lying ??
Could I sue blizzard for cancelling PVE in OW2 and lying ?? Real question: I was a huge OW1 fan but NOT OW2 I do not like how much more fast paced and the lack of 2CP all my fav maps gone I hate how they changed all the character abilities so no more stun and CC which I LIKED because it more like a MOBA (they ruin my queen Mei by taking away her freeze aka her identity) I can’t stand push don’t like the engine don’t like the updated visuals can’t stand 5 v 5 and miss having an offtank just basically can’t stand everything about it and now that they replaced OW1 with OW2 I can’t play it anymore BUT when OW2 was announced they showed the PVE and it looked amazing.Well the PVE never happened, and what we were got were a couple of scraps with missions much worse than the FREE PVE missions we got in OW1 like retribution (which cannot be played anymore at all). Still, I bought skins and bought the bundle because I was so hyped for the PVE. Even tho I was very disappointed in the missions, I held out hope for more. Then they just flat out cancelled more missions. I’ve never felt more betrayed by a company; like I feel like blizzard are scam artists because they KNEW when Jeff Kaplan leave the company that they weren’t coming out with the PVE but used it as an excuse to make the game f2p so they could get skins.I always loved L4D co op shooters and the thought of OW becoming just as focused on the PVE as PVP was VERY exciting. Now I’m stuck with a game I don’t like and feel like I was lied too. I know this will come off as NOT serious but could blizz be sued for something like this ??? sometimes to enjoy a frustrating raid night you have to kill your offtank
#aghast now that i never used the rescue button much before this tier#its a useful tool of perfectly timed mischeif#im going to kill you. it won't be now. it won't be during this mechanic.
