i think you'd be the mysterious final option of the game... like you're only unlockable once every other route has been played, and if anyone tries to hack the game or anything to get to your route any sooner, your character (a static-y haze of dark energy) appears and then the computer freezes. nothing is known about you from the get-go, and that makes you wildly popular. in the end you're a very sweet character who has a lovely route, but you're also the most mysterious.

My first kin upon knowing what being kin WAS is Johnny.  Although thinking back on it now, my first kin would have probably been Sableye or Sailor Uranus from Sailor Moon.

when i was in the 8th grade we disected a pig fetus! due to a medication i was on at the time my heart rate was around 50-60 which is, Very Bad. we had been standing up for a few hours and i was feeling dizzy... so during cleanup i handed the pig fetus tin to my partner and said "hey, hold onto this for a sec, i gotta go do something" and then collapsed onto the floor in a dead faint.

I’ll go with Star Wars since really that’s the only fandom that matters, er, I mean, that I post about a lot here.

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*

So many? Too many to call out individually, tbh, but what really gets me is master/padawan ships, and there’s really only one juggernaut master/padawan ship that is inescapable in fandom, obi/kin (though the ao3 stats for jinn/obi show that it was once the most popular). Anyway, whether it’s those two or kan/ezra, ani/soka, or whatever, they are so explicitly parental in canon. And to a certain extent I know why they are shipped, I certainly don’t need it explained to me… hell Stover almost got me shipping obi/kin until I rewatched the movies again and was like, “Oh yeah this is so explicitly a dysfunctional father-son relationship, nice try Stover, but not today Satan.”

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

Many times. I follow and unfollow pretty freely. I mean, I don’t automatically unfollow anyone who posts something that makes me go “eh,” but if I find myself constantly irritated I figure… it’s time. It depends a lot on how strongly I feel about said opinions, how often and aggressively people post about whatever opinion that I disagree with, and whether we agree on most other things or if it seems like everything they post is rubbing me the wrong way. I don’t think that following, or being mutuals with someone, should be this binding contract written in blood.

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?*

I have very few ships that I’m actually invested in to begin with, and most of them are canon. However there are ships that I would be indifferent to that I actively dislike just because of how their shippers behave, so I’ll say that slash fandom has ruined the appeal of most non canon m/m ships for me, just because of how rife with misogyny, fake progressive posturing, misplaced moral superiority, gay fetishization, lesbophobia, transphobia, biphobia, pedophilia, racism, etc. that slash fandom in general seems to carry with it wherever it goes.

11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

This is actually hard for me to answer, as I understand the question, since I feel like every character I like has a segment of fandom that really vocally and virulently hates them and wants to push them out of the story, but also has a vocal and passionate defense squad, stans who are devoted to them, so it’s hard to pinpoint anyone who is universally unpopular in Star Wars fandom. (Except maybe Jar Jar and my feelings about him are tolerant at best and mildly annoyed at worst, so maybe I don’t “like” him but I am tired of what a big deal is made over him.)

Mace Windu was the first name that leapt to mind because being an Anakin fan it’s hard to go anywhere without seeing people trying to make Mace out to be a bad guy. So, there’s him… followed by Jyn Erso, and also… Kallus. (Listen, I know that he’s popular somewhere, but most of my mutuals who watch Rebels hate him).

Ironically, I used to think of Anakin as unpopular only because before TFA came out and I got back into fandom, I always thought of Anakin first and foremost as the prequel haters’ whipping boy, the focusing point of all prequel hate, just a really super unpopular guy, but I’ve seen since then that he’s really quite popular in prequel and TCW fandom, so I feel a lot less counterculture for liking him now. He’s more like a lightning rod for polarizing fandom opinions than unpopular.

Characters like Finn, Lando, Luke, Padme, Bodhi, Barriss, Mara Jade, and even Ahsoka could fit on this list because while they are beloved by many they are either erased/downplayed by canon or have lots of people who dismiss their importance, forget about them, resent them, or hate them. But they don’t leap to mind so readily because my fandom experience is mostly built around people who like and appreciate them.
