Arnold from middle management entered the room

"Alright, settle down now."

The boardroom went quiet.

"It's gonna be a short meeting and we'll be finished within half an hour. First off, I've sent all of you a list of employees who have a birthday next month. At the end of the meeting, we'll be collecting 50 dollars for presents."

Amelie huffed. Last month was only 30 dollars. But there were much less people back then. A question that kept popping up in her brain was what were they buying their employees? No one she knew had ever received anything beyond a birthdaycake, a few balloons and a party hats.

"Next up, the coffee machine is broken, so there won't be any coffee until the end of the week. We still can't afford utensils in the cafeteria, so you'll be required to bring your own at least until the end of March. Donny, from human resources has made..."

Amelie just sat there, quietly knocking on the table. She found it a bit hard to believe that an assassin for an international group of "freedom fighters" has to listen to what's on middle managements agenda. Well, truth be told, she didn't have much choice. Contrary to popular belief, Talon was actually a very poor organization. Most people in it had to pull double duty as foot soldiers and janitors, and even moonlight to get some real money. These people are purely motivated for the greater good. Besides assassination and reconnaissance, Widowmaker worked in accounting. She did work as an accountant before being brainwashed, so it came naturally to her. As a junior accountant for the organization, she got to see some real crazy mismanagements of capital. Every month, there was an ordered for more that 3 000 liters of liquid soap. She had never even seen so much as a cup of soap in the women's rest room. And from what she heard from Reaper, the same went for the men's room too. She once asked upper management about it and they told her not to worry. It was only natural to consider some shady dealings, but keeping in mind what buffoons ran Talon, it was more likely the higher ups were organizing watergun battles with soap.

"...so no more urinating in the sinks. We got that people? Don't laugh, it's a serious matter. Next, agent Widowmaker."

Amilie rose up a bit.

"We considered your idea of a wine and cigarette vending machine next to the coffee machine. There aren't enough people who drink and smoke, so we have to decline it."

Widowmaker bashed her head on the table. They would have broke even the first week. With all the stupid going around the building, she wouldn't stop drinking.

"...no more washing your laundry in the bathroom. Alright, that's everything for today. Give John your money by the door and I'll see you next week."

Amelie stood from her chair when she was approached by Arnold.

"Miz Lacroix, a word?"

They waited for the crowd to exit the room.

"You are living with agent Reaper, Gabriel Reyes, right?"

"Yes"

"The two bedroom apartment? Downtown, on Hillton street?"

"Yes"

Where was he going with this? Arnold scratched his chin.

"Alright. We have a new agent coming in, codenamed Sombra. She will be living with you and agent Reaper."

Wait, what?

"She was just recruited and she will be travelling tomorrow" Arnold continue "You are expected to meet her at the airport."

"Hold on. Why does she have to live with us?"

"You have two bedrooms. Do not worry, she will be bringing her own mattress."

"The point isn't the mattress. The apartment is extremely small. The door to my room scrapes the bed!" "You are still one of the lucky ones. Poor Chad has to sleep in a singleroom apartment with 5 other people. "

For Pete's sake

"Just say it. You don't want to get her a place to live because the organization is on the verge of bankruptcy. "

"That is none of my business, Miz Lacroix. I'm just informing you how things are going to be"

Amelie frowned. 3 000 liters of soap.

"Fine."

Widowmaker stormed off.

"You'll be e-mailed when and where to pick agent Sombra. Oh and one more thing. Tell agent Reaper that if he is late on Monday for his cafeteria duties, it will come out of his pay."

That was something odd that struck Amelie. Reaper was practically falling apart all the time. His face once fell into a cup. Why would he even be considered for cafeteria duty? She wasn't sure if the even paid him for it. The budget didn't say anything about him being paid extra. It was even considered volunteer work.

Amelie slammed the door behind her. The lamp shook and the windows clanked. Arnold took his bag.

"It's not my fault he's so forgetful."

Arnold went to the door and saw John's list of birthday donations. He clicked his tongue. Widowmaker hadn't paid.

Officewatch: Dovin Baan analyzes systems, both software and otherwise. The thing is he finds in looking at human resources stuff is that people are way too willing to volunteer information.

“The most recent staff evaluations are in. Efficiency is up 3.3% while employee happiness has seen marginal increase of 0.1%. If the office pools and rumors are to be believed, employee retention is down 10%. Also, nobody likes Sorin Markov. I wasn’t even testing for that.”

Officewatch Elspeth finally walks back into the office after ??? time away, and everybody's just like "Holy shit what happened to you Elspeth" And she just gives them a level stare and states calmly "I killed god." Nobody thinks about it until two days later when they hear that an entire religion was destroyed recently.

Elspeth iconically went into early retirement and told nobody her new address, not even Ajani. One day she shows up, and naturally everyone is super stoked because, honestly, everyone in the office loved her. They hold a welcome home party after work at the bar down the street and they grill her about what she has been up to the whole time.

"Oh, nothing big. Just freelance stuff from time to time."

"Oh, like what?"

"Oh, I just help companies with problem employees, that's all"

"What, like a hitman???" Somebody jokes and everyone laughs.

News trickles in the next day about a big name mob-boss from overseas got assassinated, and everyone starts to get nervous...

i think what i like most about officewatch stuff is it’s a lot of disjointed community story telling. reminds me of the bits of rpgs i enjoy the most except that given this platform you can have a dozen different vignettes going at once with everyone bringing something else to the table so it’s even more free form than the most free form story telling rpg i’ve played

Arlinn Kord for Officewatch

She runs a gourmet hotdog food truck with Hal and Alena called "Where'sWolves" that's super popular but never appears in the same spot twice, forcing fans to drive across town just to get a bite. Hal and Alena manage the social media page and Arlinn gives out sagely advice to people she sells hotdogs to and it's always?? Really good advice for that person at the time????????

Also something to keep in mind is that not everything in the Officewatch canon has a 1-to-1 comparison to canon Magic. Gideon is alive and still works for the company etc.

For Officewatch: Sorin Markov, maybe a super rich investor?

He has a good amount of stake in the company, and his daughter, Avacyn, works for the company purely because her dad had the hookup. She clearly doesn't enjoy herself and hands out fliers for when her death metal band has a gig.

officewatch, ugin is still bolas’s bro, who used his portion of the urdragon inheritance to invest smartly, but bolas bought out and ruined his investments out of spite. ugin however knew this was him and actually had most of his money invested by bolas’s rebellious employee, sarkhan. this meant ugin still had money under bolas nose

Ugin is in the works to take over Bolas' company, with him gone. Meanwhile, everyone else back at the officewatch office are having a secret meeting because there were rumors over what Bolas and Ugin's relationship was but nobody had any idea. There are was a betting pool and Narset in IT pretty much cleaned house.

"I thought they were ex lovers!" Chandra admits, handing over five dollars.

"Anybody with access to Google could have figured this out, no wonder I'm constantly fixing all your messes." Narset chuckles.

Turns out everyone just loved good gossip enough to not actually bother doing research.

How do you think Officewatch Vraska is doing?

She's doing pretty well. After helping Jace get back home after buying a plane ticket on a drunken bender that left him stranded in a totally different state without a wallet or cell phone, it turned out she was a new hire with the company and Jace was the only person she knew at the office. The two of them are trying out dating now that things at the office are settling.

What's Karn up to in the Officewatch? Ooh is Karn what the employees call their servers who are just as much a part of the family?

Katn actually owns the company, and can be seen aroundthe place a lot, surprisingly. He is absolutely the human equivalent of the "how are you doing, fellow kids" meme.
