Since there's been a huge influx of new people I thought I'd do an official welcome page! Hi, I'm SO (or you can call me Pam). :)

I'm terrible at 'about me's -- I'm old enough to remember all of the 90s, live in a place that looks like your hand, and run a bookstore for a living (which is not as glamorous as it sounds, but yes I get a really good deal on books).

“Yes. Do you think you could come in at your earliest convenience? Today, if possible. It should only take about twenty minutes, I would think.” For a few seconds, Kurt thinks this is a role-play of some kind because Blaine knows he’s out running errands for them today, but if he’s going into the office to play some sort of game, they’d need a hell of a lot more than twenty minutes. He looks at his watch; if he times this right, maybe they can go to lunch afterward. “Sure. I can be there in an hour.”  “Perfect. Thank you, Mr. Hummel. I’ll see you then.”

(Warning: an angsty rollercoaster of a ride. Soooo many cameos from Glee characters! 😉)

(RWRB) Puppy Love - (RWRB NYE gift exchange 2023) The cold snowy day that Henry Fox discovers an abandoned beagle puppy in an alley brings handsome, flirty veterinarian, Alex Claremont-Diaz into his life. Alex is a single dad, recently moved to NY with his young son who Henry hasn't met yet - or so Alex thought. (Fluffy kid!fic)

(Klaine) Sanctuary - (Klaine Word Scramble 2023) Crown Prince Blaine has stumbled into a secluded glade, trying to escape the horrors of the bloody war his father had brought upon their kingdom. Mourning his beloved older brother and faced with the burden of taking his place in the kingdom, Blaine yearns for a place to hid from the world to deal with the issues weighing on his heavy heart. A series of unfortunate events, however, led him and his family to flee his home and to adopt new identities for their own safety. Years later, after he finds himself well ensconced in his new life as an attaché to the office of the new American ambassador to England, Alexander Claremont soon finds his past catching up to him. (Inspired by these historical paintings by @stormtrooperjeff17004 as well as artwork from @artofobsession seen here and here.)

(RWRB) Shaken, Not Stirred (Spy!AU) - CIA Officer Alex Claremont Diaz is not new to working on joint operations with other foreign agencies. He does it often and he does it well, which is why his superior, Zahra Bankston, never hesitates to assign them to him. What he wasn't expecting that morning was to be put on a new assignment with his least favorite MI6 operative, Henry Fox - and that they had to use being a newly married couple as their cover to get the job done. (Inspired by this drawing by @noodles-and-tea )

(Klaine) Cuffed (a D/s and soulmate story and prequel to my first ever fic, Trick or Treat) - - Musician Blaine Anderson has always been lonely sub, yearning for a place to belong and someone to belong to. Kurt Hummel is the an overworked and high in demand designer - a Dom with no time to sit and relax and focus on what his needs are. But after being convinced to visit the upscale club by his friend, Kurt's mind is quickly changed once he sets his eyes on a beautiful boy in a gilded cage who was up for auction that night.

(Klaine) Untitled Klaine fic (Klaine Advent 2022) - Set in my Klaine superhero AU - Under The Cover of Darkness) Blaine decides to go home with Kurt for the holidays and doesn't make the best first impression with Kurt's parents.

(Klaine) Untitled Klaine fic (Feudal Japan!AU) - based off of novel The Tokaido Road - On a personal mission to avenge the murder of his father, Kurt travels the Tokaido , braving its dangers and interesting characters on the way. As the son of a nobleman, Kurt travels in disguise, unaware that the person who sanctioned his father's murderer has also sent Blaine, a talented and deadly ronin, to find and kill Kurt as well.

(RWRB)- the phantom touch of your hand (tentative title) - (Fantasy/cursed tattoo fic!AU) Two young swordsmen are determined to vanquish a sorcerer who has laid a tragic curse on them both. The problem is, the curse keeps them from being together at the same time, doomed to travel alone, one by day, the other by night - the only reminder of the other being the cursed tattoo burned into their skin.

(Klaine) - Untitled Klaine fic (While You were Sleeping!AU) - Kurt Hummel always wanted to live in NYC - his dreams were to be on Broadway. Being on the Broadway stage that is. Not working on the corner of Broadway and 44th in one of those coffee/food carts parked out on the street. Things for him change the day that Cooper Anderson, Kurt's gorgeous repeat customer whom he secretly fantasizes about, nearly gets hit by a bus. After following him to the hospital, Kurt gets mistaken for being his crush's fiancee which should have been his dream come true - until he meets Cooper's sweet down to earth brother, Blaine.

(Sebklaine) Let you put your hands on me (College threesome AU) - heavily influenced by "one of those movies" - wink, wink . . - Kurt's frustrated ( in more ways than one) and his good friends and new roomates, Blaine and Sebastian, find a way to help him out.

(Klaine/RWRB) - Untitled fic (Scheherazade/ 1001 Arabian Nights !AU) - A lone traveler gets captured by a band of sex slavers in the desert. After being subjected to the horrors of slavery, the young man gets rescued by a desert prince in disguise, chosen to be his sole consort. Every evening, the consort tells his prince a story for him amusement. - planning a series of probably shorts all in the same style. Maybe it'll be a collection to do with other writers? Not sure yet. Might alternate with either Henry/Alex being the Prince and Consort and Blaine/Kurt being the characters in the bedtime tales or vice versa. Or maybe create 2 OC to be the Prince/Consort and have the other four boys be the characters in the shorter stories. I'm assuming it would be alot of mature/explicit shorts - but wouldn't mind a mix of other ratings in between as well.

(RWRB) burn baby burn (magical/fantasy AU) - Based off of this Tumblr prompt - When royalty calls, Alex knows, as a swordsman for hire, that the payout is going to be lucrative. So all he has to do is face a dragon and save a princesss from it and he should be rolling in gold for the next few months. Right? Alex finds out quickly that there is no princess to save. . .but there is a dragon. A dragon named Henry.

(Klaine) Baby Won't You Light My Fire (magical/ fantasy AU) - Based off of this Tumblr prompt- Blaine had assumed his latest quest would be an easy, run-of-the-mill job. Seemed like it was going to be an easy protection detail for the son of a blacksmith. What Blaine soon realizes is that this job was NOT what it said on the tin.

(Klaine) Blood, Sweat and Tears (a mythical/magical/supernatural beings AU ) ( Klainetober 2024) - Blaine Anderson finds out after stumbling into upperclassman Kurt Hummel during a NYADA Halloween party that there is a whole other magical world of beings existing along side everyone else.

(Klaine) It Came Upon A Midnight Clear ( a Nutcracker/ Historical AU) - Inspired by a gorgeous Klaine Secret Santa 2024 gift I recieved from @kurtwarbler. You can see the artwork here. - It is Christmas. It's another Sunday. Time goes fast. It's May.

After 4 and a half months, I have finally updated Ljubili se. Phew. I want to get back to this story so badly, especially since, uh, I have a new Klaine fic idea that I am saving for next December.

In the newest chapter, Kurt finally gets down to business to defeat the Huns to move to LA.

Blaine’s off to the New York office and Kurt’s sat at home. His appointment with the student advisor is online, which is fine by Kurt. He fixes his hair and waits for the call to start. “Hello Kurt,” Ms. Joling says when she appears on screen. “Hi. Hello.”

And yes, I ended up naming his advisor after another Dutch singer whose music I personally dislike. I thought it'd be funny.

Bureaucracy abhors a power vacuum. When there’s a power vacuum in the oval office, administration officials rush in to fill it, as Johnson was not so subtly hinting. But there won’t be some kind of Rasputin-like figure directing things behind the scenes. (Expect to see a lot of stories in the news media speculating on who this imagined figure is, like Ron Klain or Jill Biden or whoever.) Instead, the reality is much dumber: John Kirby will be running the country. Not him personally, of course, but the archetype he represents: a Washington bureaucrat and retired admiral with the national security chops requisite to being considered Serious Person.

Kurt was in a meeting with Isabel when the text came through. He shifted his gaze subtly over to the phone lying face up beside him. Blaine’s name along with a single word lit up his screen.

Pavarotti.

“Um… sorry, Isabel,” he said, “can I take a personal call for a moment?”

Isabel looked shocked at the interruption, but she could read the anxiety creasing Kurt’s forehead and she nodded. “Of course, Dear, is everything okay?”

“I’m not sure yet,” Kurt said, quickly collecting his phone and exiting across the hall to his office. He pressed call as soon as the door shut behind him. 

Pavarotti was a safe word. Not in the usual way that called for an immediate cease of play. It was Blaine’s way of signaling that he needed his Dom and he needed him now . Usually, he used it in a full sentence to signal to Kurt that he was nervous, something was making him uncomfortable, he would like to leave the situation. A simple question of “Did you feed Pavarotti?” was all he needed to put Kurt on high alert.

But sending just the word alone? That was as desperate of a plea for help that Blaine could muster. 

Blaine picked up the phone on the first ring. His shuddering breaths were all the confirmation Kurt needed that something was seriously wrong. “Pet,” he said firmly, “where are you?”

“H-home,” Blaine said through hiccuping gasps. 

“Are you safe?” He asked.

“Yes, S-sir,” Blaine whispered. 

“Good, good,” Kurt said, “can you tell me what’s wrong?”

Blaine sobbed softly. “I-I don’t… I c-can’t–”

Blaine was too panicked. But Kurt’s meeting was going to take at least twenty minutes to finish up and then it was another thirty minutes on the train to get home, if he was lucky. It was rush hour so a cab would definitely not get him there any faster. He took a deep breath to steady himself before he began speaking. 

“Okay, Pet, here’s what I need you to do.”

He heard Blaine’s voice catch in the back of his throat as Kurt shifted fully into Dom mode. His voice left no room for questions.

“Go to the bedroom.”

He heard the quiet shuffle of Blaine’s feet as he followed his instructions. 

“From the toybox, get the black leather cuffs, just the ones for your wrists.”

“Yes, Sir,” Blaine whispered and Kurt could already hear the way his breathing was slowing down. “I have them.”

“From the bedside table, get your sleep headphones, the ones that cover your eyes.”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Good boy,” Kurt said, “you’re doing so good for me.”

Blaine took in a shaky breath. “Thank you, Sir.”

“No go back to the living room,” Kurt waited until he heard a soft confirmation from Blaine that he’d made it, “and collect your kneeling pillow.” Blaine sighed softly at those words. “Place it in the middle of the living room,” one soft thump of the pillow hitting the floor, “and kneel,” the louder thump of Blaine sinking to his knees resounded through Kurt’s ears. 

“I’m going to send you a link. Once you hang up I want you to connect your phone to your headphones, follow the link, and press play. Then you will cuff your hands in front of you, put on your headphones, and listen. I will be home before the audio stops.”

“Thank you, Sir,” Blaine breathed. 

“I love you, Pet. I’ll be home before you know it.”

Hello friends,

So . . . it’s been a LONG time since I’ve been here with any regularity. About a year. And that wasn’t intentional at first, and then life got so busy that I didn’t have much bandwidth for anything beyond my Twitter account. And I felt guilty.

I haven’t touched my stories in a year. I haven’t done anything fandom related, except for one of my scholarly projects, in a year. And I miss you all terribly, but life has been a lot as well.

The pandemic was a lot. I was starting to climb out of a tough bout of depression last summer, but it was slow.  And I’ve been having menstrual problems, among other things, which I know now are probably perimenopause related, but it has not been fun, to say the least. I had a D & C last fall to make sure there was nothing abnormal or precancerous (there wasn’t, very thankfully!), and it laid me out for a week. My grandmother died, just a few days before her (and my) birthday in November. She was my last remaining grandparent, and that’s been really hard as well. 

In January, I was on family medical leave helping my mother-in-law recover from surgery. I was teaching as well, as best I could long distance. I got home after five weeks and had to adjust to being in person all over again. And then April hit in the spring term and everything became a total blur. Spouse and I were both running constantly and totally exhausted. May wasn’t much better until school was over. 

And then I was at a conference in Boston, Spouse toured a house, we put in an offer and had it accepted, and the offer and acceptance were both while we were in Maine for our anniversary! Which was great in one way, but trying to do business in a place with very spotty cell coverage is its own sort of stress. We had been looking for over three years for a house we could move into with my mother-in-law, and this house just - appeared, and will really work for us. We’ve been cleared to close, but have no closing date, and we’ve been cleaning like mad and trying to declutter so that our realtor can take pictures and get our current house on the market.

The long and short of it is, I’ve been so busy and so tired that I’ve just been trying to get through. On top of everything else, I have two book projects right now, both of which I am trying to meet short-term deadlines on. Thank the Goddess, I had a sabbatical approved for next year (while still being a Diversity Officer half time), so I will actually have time to deal with final manuscripts and page proofs and marketing and all the rest of that.

But I miss you all. I miss my fandoms. I miss my stories (Goddess, I miss my stories.) I’m sorry I’ve been gone so long. I’d like to know what’s happening with you all, what you’re into now (besides Klaine, because we will all forever love Klaine). Talk to me, and know that I am sending lots of hugs into the ether, to all of you. <333

Let's talk about it. Mostly, I'm going to repeat a lot of what I said : HERE. After listening to the clip, my thoughts are exactly what they were originally...

I'm going to guess, after the box scene stuff kinda was the straw that broke the camel's back, the producers finally went, hey guys -- we have a lot of unhappy Klaine fans, you need to address this. (And/or - probably and - they did get a lot of email about it.) So, they addressed the Klaine thing.

(As an aside - the transcript, for me, was exactly how I thought they'd sound, and listening to it confirmed it? Just putting that in the fwiw category.)

but anyway, like I said in my original thoughts on the whole thing -- I think I was correct in saying that Kevin and Jenna have been latching on to things they were a part of and they remember and kind of glossing over the rest of it. Layer into that -- they have a strong affection for Naya (and to Cory) who are both no longer with us, and even though we may think that Santana is terrible or Finn makes dumb decisions, that actor/character bleed does happen for them.

And I've always found that fair.

I've said it before, but, I think it's like when Darren decided to rewatch Never Been Kissed -- and he literally ended up fastfowarding through things that weren't related to the Kurt/Blaine story line. And he expressed fondness for Dot, etc, etc, but his memories were about his story line, and that's what he focused on.

And I think that's what Kevin and Jenna are doing, too.

Now, I will ding them with the fact that they are supposed to be being a little more professional about it (Darren was just doing it for fun) but from what I could tell based on my own experiences -- they only have 'x' amount of time in the studio, and just are not organized and proficient in the same way as -- say The Office Ladies or Pod Meets World are. So things are going to get glossed over -- and those things are things they have no emotional attachment to.

I don't think they realized they were doing it -- which is why they are finding it so funny now. I don't think there was any conspiracy behind it. And I don't think it was deliberate. I do think they're going to be ever so slightly asshole-ish about it going forward because they are more aware of it now. But I think everything they said on the podcast kind of goes back to what I said in my original post way back when.

That's my two cents.

(Also, another minor aside nitpick - they claimed that Ryan himself edited the box scene out of the episode which I find unlikely. I think the editor edited out because of time and... that's it. Kind of like they did with Santa Baby. I just think Kevin and Jenna were being salty about being called out on about a beloved deleted scene and wanted to dig in their heels a little there. But again, they weren't there on the fandom side, and they don't know.)

WIP Wednesday/ Six Sentence Sunday Dinner Combo meal

I'll give you two bits of writing for the price of one ( for 2 different fandoms: Klaine and RWRB) because you all are so lovely . .

1.) From my current Klaine WIP (If I Can Make Your Heart My Home)

 Slowly Blaine wandered into the back of the room trying to track down his coat, cringing slightly that every person at the event seemed to have the same identical outerwear. “Leaving so soon?” Blaine whipped around, seeing Sebastian in the doorway staring at him. “Yes,” Blaine said tiredly, “I think it’s time for me to go.” Sebastian took a step into the room, his confidence oozing off of him. “Now we can’t have that.” he told Blaine with a grin. “And why not?” “Because it wouldn’t look good for you to leave without your date.” “This isn’t a date, Sebastian. “ Blaine sighed.  “I thought I made myself clear when this night started.  Not a date . . It’s just an. . .” “Arrangement, whatever, “ said Sebastian nonchalantly.  He waved his hands about dismissively.  “Call it what you want, I don’t care.”  Took another few steps closer to Blaine and causally leaned against one of the coat racks. “But I do have an image to uphold.”

2.) Here is the start of a spy fic that's rattling around in my head that would be a RWRB/firstprince fic .

Tentatively named, "Shaken, Not Stirred". This is inspired by a great piece of artwork by @noodles-and-tea

NOTE: In my research employees of the CIA are actually referred to as "officers" not "agents" like they do in the movies. So, right now I have the characters referred to as such - I'm debating to just chuck that aside and go the Hollywood route and call them all agents.

“What in the everloving fuck?!” “You heard me.” Officer Alexander Claremont-Diaz stopped in the middle of his rant, his mouth agape and seriously hoping his hearing had been effected by his recent stint at the shooting range. Yeah, he wore the appropriate ear protection. . .most of the time.   But what the hell? “You’re joking, right?  You must be joking, Zee.”  Opposite him, his direct superior, Senior Operations Officer Zahra Bankston sat, cool, calm, and eerily still: like a viper waiting to strike.  Her head slowly raised from the black leather portfolio she was reviewing.  Her eyes narrowed and her expression . . .well if Alex believed that looks really could kill . .  .then from that 3 second glance alone he would have been eviscerated, the minuscule pieces sealed in concrete and then dumped somewhere in the Potomac River.   Alex swallowed loudly at realizing his mistake ( REMINDER: never, ever try informal talk with the head of your division, especially this department head) and shrunk yet so slightly lower in his seat. “I do not joke.  Not about this.  Not about my job.”

I have some things to say! First off, have six sentences of Matt being a mess. @cutestkilla actually came up with this idea:

The polecat must be amazing at dodging, because it manages to avoid every spell. My spells are erratic and I hit parts of the office. Fuck, I am so fired after this. After I don’t know how long, the door opens again. “Miss Possibelf?” Simon Snow pokes his head in. “Simon Snow, save me!” I yell pathetically.

I actually have, uh, almost everything finished! Literally only chapter 5 is unfinished, but everything else plus the epilogue is done. I will probably tweak some things every now and then, but the fic has been written. Apart from chapter 5.

Secondly, not officially fic related, but y'all gotta see this fanart of Klaine at Kongresni trg, made by @esilher! I will get back to Ljubili se... one day. Look, Matty Chris D. just pulled focus! Also I told Esilher that I need to write Kurt and Blaine going back to Slovenia just so they can ice skate there. I never knew it was a thing, otherwise I definitely would've added it in Ljubim te, when they were actually in Ljubljana.

AND LASTLY, I, uh, suddenly and totally out of nowhere wrote 1.7K words for my Marlie fic that I started in 2022. Wack. I did scrap everything I had beforehand, but that's fine. I just got hit by the need to finish this fic and look I just miss Class. I know it was a failed Doccy Whomst spin-off BUT I LOVE CLASS. Woe, Marlie fic be upon ye! So keep an eye out for that one as well, I say, to my... readers? Do people still read Marlie fic?

I rewatched Extraordinary Merry Christmas, the two deleted scenes and the bts videos in preparation for the next recap episode.

Rachel gives Finn a wish-list and is really pushing it.

Sue is volunteering at the Lima homeless shelter. She wants the glee club pitch in by giving the gift of song. (Blaine's first scene in Sue's office.)

The local station manager of Lima's PBS wants the Glee club to do a holiday special with Artie as director. Artie agrees and wants it to be inspired be The Star Wars Holiday Special and a hommage to the Judy Garland Christmas Show.

The taping of the show is at the same time as the Homeless shelter thing and only Sam and Quinn show up for that. The rest of the New Directions come later to the shelter, but only because their last number was cut.

Cringe moment: Sue: Wheels, Procelain, other gay.  Sue called Blaine later young Burt Reynolds which is more a compliment than an insult. In season six we learn Sue is a Klaine fan.

best song: It's an impossible choice. I can say that I'm happy Darren had 2 duets and  a part in My Favorite Things. And I want to mention that River is on his Christmas album.

best dance move: Christmas Wrapping

performance mvp: Chris, Darren, Lea and Amber in the Christmas Special. They all managed to talk and perform like this show was really from the 60's. (I'm pretty sure I heard Darren was watching Judy Garland Shows on YouTube as preparation.)

Deleted Santa Baby scene: Santana helps Finn pick out a present for Rachel and sings Santa Baby.

Deleted box scene: A cute little Klaine thing. Blaine gives Kurt a self-made promise ring.

Bts video: Chris said that he had problems with the riffs, runs and scats in Let It Snow.

Specifically regarding Melania, the gossip is that she is in a "hope for the best, prepare for the worst" mindset concerning Donald's legal issues. There's been a few articles recently that her priority is their son and giving him stability/support if the worst happens. So even if she was asked, I don't think she'd go.

Prevailing scuttlebutt here in DC is that there are two scenarios for the Americans.

The probable option is Special Ambassadors. The POTUS will put a delegation together of Special Ambassadors to represent him and these can be anyone from cabinet offices (present or former) to mega-donors to celebrities. Obama used Special Ambassadors for the Sochi Olympics. His delegation was led by the former secretary for the Department of Homeland Security and was comprised of gay athletes/former Olympians. Eisenhower also used Special Ambassadors for The Queen's coronation in 1953. His delegation was 3 military officials (probably chosen for WW2 connections) and a society reporter who was also a major supporter to his presidential campaign.

The unlikely option is Jill. She'll probably accompanied by someone from the State Department (our Foreign Office), most likely the US Ambassador to Britain who sometimes attends the ceremonial events. Trump's ambassador attended a couple of Commonwealth Day services in his time. I don't think any of the grandchildren would go; this is an official trip and none of them work in the Administration - it'd be the equivalent of Camilla going on an official trip and bringing her granddaughter Eliza Lopes with her. (Ivanka was able to attend the UK state visit because she worked in Donald's administration.)

What is throwing a big wrench in the guessing is our election cycle. We have another presidential election in 2024, the campaigning of which will start later this year. Biden isn't going to send anyone who could use the trip for campaign material and gain a competitive edge over him. This means Republicans who could oppose him (the Trumps) and Democrats who could primary him (Buttigieg, other Democratic Party leaders like Elizabeth Warren or Stacey Abrams). And it could also very well mean that Biden himself will go if he thinks it could help with his reelection campaign since he gets a ton of criticism for how little he travels.

(I also think the Bidens burned a lot of goodwill with their behavior at The Queen's funeral, particularly with their demands to use The Beast instead of carpooling like everyone else did, so I don't see either of the Bidens going because of that.)

I personally think it's going to be Special Ambassadors. If the papers are reporting that no crowned head of state is attending, then it's probably safe to assume no other heads of state are attending as well, unless they're part of the realms or Commonwealth. They'll be led by someone close to Biden, maybe a lower-profile cabinet official like the Secretary of Commerce or a long-term associate like Ron Klain, and the others will be donors or people with cultural or business connections to Britain.
