astro hypothesis: dress for the occasion
everyone is always mentioning to dress like your venus sign. recently, i have seen a lot of tiktoks where people are like dress like your crush/boyfriend's venus sign to look like his dream girl. and i was like what about dressing for the occasion? which brought me here! grab your venus persona and take a look at the houses.
paid reading options: astrology menu & cartomancy menu
enjoy my work? help me continue creating by tipping on ko-fi or paypal. your support keeps the magic alive!
5h - prom, dances, dates, and clubs
5h cancer (4°, 16°, 28°) and/or 5h moon: elegance is key. you might be drawn to long, flowy gowns with shimmery fabric. something light but glowy! often the fabric is dark (black or midnight blue) or slivery/white. a sweetheart neckline or off the shoulder cut tends to look beautiful on these people. often you are drawn to semi-sheer fabric as it adds some mystique to your appearance.
5h libra (7°, 19°) and/or 5h venus: light pastels or ivory are likely to grab your attention but a plain white or black dress is likely to give you that elegant/timeless look that you want most in pictures to remember your day (otherwise, you might take pictures in a colored dress and turn on a black and white filter). you want the wow factor! so a-line, a ball gown, or fit-flare dresses might be your go to look. a floor length dress is likely a must for you. silk, satin, chiffon, and/or organza are likely on the tags of these dresses even if you don't know what these materials are by the naked eye. dresses with a sweetheart neckline or off the shoulder sleeves are likely to make you feel elegant. you may like very simple accessories - plain earrings, a dainty bracelet, small pendant necklace, classic heels, etc. a v-neckline, bateau, or strapless design is likely to fit your elegance same could be said about a low back dress.
5h aquarius (11°, 23°) and/or 5h uranus: you are likely to be drawn to the blue family (sky, sea, ocean, water, turquoise, etc.). iridescence/holographic/shimmery material might draw your attention in a store. you often go for something very atypical in the store (might be from seasons ago - its likely the last of its kind). something a-line, flowy, and/or high-to-low might be of interest to you - the cuts of a dress bring interest to your favorite parts of yourself (example, maybe its a two piece dress). something high neck or off the shoulder is likely of interest to you as well. a loose braid and/or waves might be all you need to finish out your look.
7h - wedding attire
7h aries (1°, 13°, 25°) and/or 7h mars: as a bride you should be wearing pure white. nudes or off-whites aren't likely to hold your attention anyway. grab the pure stark white. it is likely that reds are going to be an accent of this wedding - roses, nail, polish, bridesmaid dresses, etc. but if you aren't in the wedding party, go for the red whether its a fiery red or a deep burgundy, its the way to go! no matter if you are the bride, the guest, or a member of the wedding party - you should opt for a fit flare dress or mermaid silhouette. or be really dramatic and go for a deep slit, a plunge neckline, or something backless! the devil is in the details too so things like careful beading, sequins, or embroidery should be something critical to your look (if not the fit and/or the drama). alternatively, minimalism/modernism might be something you enjoy for your look.
7h gemini (3°, 15°, 27°) and/or 7h mercury: as a bride, you might lean towards ivory or whites with an undertone of some color (like a blush). you don't tend to go for the traditional white color, in my experience. if you are a guest or in the wedding party it is likely you will find yourself in soft pastel colors! movement is of the utmost importance to you so opt for a-line or flowy gown. you might also enjoy wearing things that are asymmetrical - the hemline might be high to low or you might like the one shoulder strap design. these people also like details in their dresses whether it is lace, embroidery, beading, ruffles, tiered skirts, or glitter - the options are endless. chiffon, tulle, or organza might be the fabrics for you because they are light and breathable.
6h - everyday clothes and workwear
6h pisces (12°, 24°) and/or 6h neptune: soft fabrics like cotton, silk, or jersey in gentle, soothing colors such as ocean blues, seafoam greens, lavender, and soft pinks. loose, flowing clothes like maxi skirts, wrap dresses, or wide-legged pants that move gracefully. style would likely be bohemian and free-spirited, incorporating layers, delicate patterns, or subtle prints (florals, paisley, etc.). clothes would be cozy and easy to wearâthink oversized sweaters, soft cardigans, and flowy blouses. might like jewelry that is delicate, handmade, seashells, pearls, and/or celestial themed.
6h libra (7°, 19°) and/or 6h venus: these people have a natural sense of style and an appreciation for their appearance. outfits would likely be classic, well-tailored pieces in soft, neutral tones like blush pink, dove gray, cream, and pastel blues. the fabrics would be light and luxurious - like silk blouses, cashmere sweaters, or satin skirts. well-fitted blazers, A-line skirts, and or high-waisted trousers make them look polished and graceful. they effortlessly blend comfort with sophistication. everything else is minimal yet thoughtfully chosen - delicate gold or silver jewelry, a stylish handbag, etc.
9h - graduation and religious events
9h taurus (2°, 14°, 26°) and/or 9h venus: elegance, luxury, and comfort ("it has pockets too!"). a sleek, well-structured dress in an earthy tones like emerald green, soft brown, or blush pink. the fabric might be luxurious, like silk, satin, or velvet. a silhouette would likely be timeless and flattering - a wrap dress or an A-line dress that cinches at the waist, emphasizing femininity and grace is well suited for this placement. delicate embroidery or subtle jewelry accents. understated but beautiful accessories, like a simple gold necklace or pearl earrings.
9h leo (5°, 17°, 29°) and/or 9h sun: bold, glamorous, and attention grabbing. vibrant colors like gold, fiery red, or royal purple. the fabric might be something that shimmers or catches the light, such as sequined, satin, or metallic materials. a silhouette could be daring and statement-making, like a fitted flair dress, a high-low hemline, or an off-the-shoulder design. ruffles, a thigh-high slit, or an open back, ensures all eyes are on them. accessories would be boldâthink large, sparkling earrings, a dramatic statement necklace, etc. yes, realize what my sub-header is for this section.
9h sagittarius (9°, 21°) and/or jupiter: it's never just one graduation or church event and thus never just one dress/opportunity. the dresses would likely have a regal, flowing quality to it. jewel tones like deep sapphire, royal blue, or amethyst. flowy, A-line, and/or empire waisted dresses that gives a sense of movement. fabric might be lightweight and ethereal, like chiffon, tulle, or silk. intricate embroidery, beading, etc. accessories would be tasteful but luxurious, like a delicate gold bracelet or a jeweled hairpiece.

When it comes to fashion, selecting the right neckline can make all the difference in how you look and feel in your outfit. Your body type plays a significant role in determining which neckline will flatter your figure the most. Let's explore which necklines go hand-in-hand with different body types.
Hourglass Shape: If you have an hourglass figure with balanced proportions, you're in luck! Almost any neckline can work for you. However, scoop necks and V-necks accentuate your curves beautifully, while boat necks add a touch of elegance.
Pear Shape: Pear-shaped individuals often have narrower shoulders and wider hips. To balance your silhouette, opt for boat necks, off-the-shoulder styles, or scoop necks, which draw attention to your upper body
Apple Shape: If you carry more weight around your midsection, choose V-necks, scoop necks, or deep U-necks to create the illusion of a longer, leaner torso. These necklines elongate your upper body.
Rectangle Shape: For those with a straight, rectangular figure, try sweetheart necklines, cowl necks, or halter necks to add some curves and definition. These necklines create the appearance of a more feminine shape
Inverted Triangle: If your shoulders are broader than your hips, you'll want to soften your upper body and add volume to your lower half. Opt for scoop necks, boat necks, or bateau necklines to balance your proportions.
Petite Frame: If you're on the shorter side, high necklines like turtlenecks or jewel necks can elongate your frame. Sweetheart necklines and V-necks also work wonders to create the illusion of height.
Above all be confident ladies.đž

Elevated Minimalism: The Rise of Simple Yet Sophisticated Bridal Gowns
Introduction
Bridal fashion has always been a reflection of changing times, and in recent years, elevated minimalism has become one of the most sought-after trends. Brides today are shifting from heavily adorned dresses to simple yet sophisticated bridal gowns that embody elegance, luxury, and effortless beauty.
This trend is also influencing barat dresses for bridal, with modern brides opting for minimalistic designs that still hold a regal charm. Whether you are searching for a bridal dress for barat or timeless Pakistani bridal dresses, elevated minimalism offers the perfect balance between tradition and modern refinement.
The Concept of Elevated Minimalism in Bridal Fashion
Minimalism in bridal wear is not about being plain or unembellished; rather, itâs about a refined aesthetic that focuses on clean lines, high-quality fabrics, and subtle detailing. The idea is to let the beauty of the dress shine through its structure and silhouette rather than excessive embellishments.
Key Elements of Elevated Minimalist Bridal Gowns
Clean Silhouettes: Structured A-line, sheath, and column dresses.
Luxurious Fabrics: Silk, satin, crepe, and organza.
Minimal Embellishments: Delicate lace trims, subtle embroidery, and beadwork.
Elegant Necklines: Off-shoulder, bateau, and deep V-neck styles.
Timeless Appeal: Designed to remain stylish for decades to come.
Why Brides Are Choosing Minimalist Wedding Dresses
Minimalism in bridal wear is growing in popularity due to several reasons:
1. Timeless Elegance
A minimalist bridal gown doesnât follow short-lived trends; instead, it offers a look that remains timeless and chic for years to come. Many Pakistani bridal dresses are now incorporating this concept, blending simplicity with traditional elegance.
2. Focus on Quality Over Quantity
Rather than excessive embroidery and embellishments, the focus is on premium-quality fabric and expert tailoring, which ensures a flattering fit and luxurious feel.
3. Comfort and Versatility
Many minimalist gowns offer lightweight designs, making them easier to carry throughout long wedding ceremonies. Brides can also easily repurpose them for post-wedding occasions.
4. Influence of Celebrity & Royal Weddings
From Meghan Markleâs Givenchy wedding dress to Hailey Bieberâs chic Off-White gown, minimalist wedding dresses have gained popularity, inspiring brides worldwide.
Minimalist Barat Dresses for Bridal: A Modern Take on Tradition
For many Pakistani brides, barat dresses are traditionally associated with heavily embroidered lehengas and heavily adorned fabrics. However, modern brides are redefining barat fashion by incorporating minimalist aesthetics while still maintaining cultural richness.
Features of Minimalist Barat Dresses
Subtle Embroidery: Fine threadwork, tone-on-tone embellishments, and minimal beadwork.
Sleek Silhouettes: Flowing maxis, structured lehengas with sleek cholis, and draped saris.
Soft, Muted Colors: Ivory, pastels, soft gold, and monotone designs.
Statement Accessories: Bold jewelry pieces to complement the understated dress.
Best Fabrics for a Minimalist Bridal Dress for Barat
Minimalist bridal dresses rely on the richness of fabric to create a luxurious look without excessive decoration. Some of the best fabric choices include:
Silk: Creates a rich, smooth finish.
Crepe: Adds a structured yet soft drape.
Satin: Provides a glossy, elegant look.
Organza: Lightweight and ethereal for a dreamy effect.
Styling Tips for a Minimalist Pakistani Bridal Dress
If youâre opting for a minimalist Pakistani bridal dress, hereâs how to style it beautifully:
1. Jewelry: Statement Overload or Subtle Elegance?
Minimalist bridal dresses give you the freedom to experiment with jewelry. You can choose either of the following styles:
Bold & Statement: Pairing a simple dress with heavy traditional jewelry such as kundan, polki, or pearls.
Delicate & Modern: Keeping it subtle with dainty gold or diamond accessories for an ultra-refined look.
2. Hair & Makeup: Soft Glam Over Heavy Contours
Opt for soft, dewy makeup with a natural glow.
Loose waves, sleek buns, or low ponytails complement a minimalist look.
Minimalist brides often choose nude lips or soft pink shades over bold reds.
3. Dupatta Draping for a Minimalist Look
Sheer, embroidered dupattas in matching hues enhance the look without overpowering the dress.
A single, neatly draped dupatta instead of multiple heavy layers maintains the clean, minimalist aesthetic.
Traditional vs. Minimalist Bridal Dresses: A Comparison
Where to Find Minimalist Pakistani Bridal Dresses?
Many Pakistani designers are embracing the minimalist bridal trend in their collections. Some of the best places to shop for a minimalist bridal dress for barat include:
Faiza Saqlain â Known for its ethereal and modern bridal designs.
Sania Maskatiya â Offers structured, elegant bridal outfits.
Suffuse by Sana Yasir â Specializes in soft, romantic aesthetics with refined minimalism.
Misha Lakhani â A top choice for brides looking for classic, elegant silhouettes.
Conclusion: Is a Minimalist Bridal Dress Right for You?
If youâre a bride who loves the idea of looking effortlessly graceful and timeless, then an elevated minimalist bridal gown is an excellent choice. Whether youâre selecting a barat dress for bridal or a Pakistani bridal dress for another event, minimalism can offer a sophisticated, regal, and modern touch.
Key Takeaways:
â
Minimalist bridal gowns focus on fabric, fit, and structure over heavy embellishments. â
Perfect for Pakistani brides looking for a modern yet traditional barat dress. â

Timeless Trends: Top Necklines Defining Nashville's Bridal Fashion This Year
Fashion is a perpetually evolving concept, and your wedding dress is the best time to flaunt your knowledge about it. From styles to silhouettes to neck designs, they are multiple elements that combine together to bring the final look and feel of the wedding gown in Nashville.
Among so many designs available at the bridal shop in Nashville TN, it can get quite baffling to understand which is the one for you. But we got in talks with the head designer of Winnie Couture, a luxury store accommodating a wide range of wedding gowns in Nashville, and gathered the names of the top-selling neckline designs of this year.
Neck designs that are here to stay for a long time
Sweetheart Neckline: Lately, there has been a hyped penchant for wedding dresses in Nashville that have sweetheart necklines as it draws attention to the décolletage giving a sexier look. It is like the shape of a heart that is synonymously called a princess neckline as well. It is perfect for women who are seeking an outfit that can cast an illusion of a longer torso. In case you are a bit apprehensive about the extra skin show, you have the option to select semi sweetheart neckline, which is more modest. In this, the cut sits above the breast line, making it subtle.
Bateau Neckline: Also called as Sabrina neckline and boat neckline, it follows the natural curves of your collarbone and touches the shoulder. Pairing it up with a sleeveless style with a loose wavy bun will bring a minimalistic yet ravishing appearance.
Scoop Neckline: This is just a simple deep U-neck cut that has been ruling the collection of wedding gowns in Nashville. The most flattering aspect is that it can be stitched in all the depths, low or high. You can find scoop necklines at the backside, too, doubling the sizzling factor in your outfit. This is again an appreciating option if you desire to flaunt your collarbone tattoo.
Halter Neckline: This can be seen as one of the most celebrity-loved styles not only for wedding gowns but else wise too. Halter necks are like straps that go all the way to the back of the neck and have a low armhole cut. Women with toned arms should pick such gowns as they will flatter their assets.
Portrait Neckline: This is just like the off-shoulder neckline; however, there is an additional fabric. In an easier sense, it can be seen as a wide and soft scoop joining the tip of both shoulders. So, if you are arranging a formal event with a vintage theme, then this is your style. Go for it without a second thought. Moreover, for women who want to adorn an arresting necklace, portrait necklines are apt for you.
Winnie Couture- a store for the modern bride
Winnie Couture is being run by a power couple who has been presiding over the realm for over two decades now. The branch stores are open in 10 cities of the United States; Beverly Hills, Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Nashville, and Columbus GA.

Making Amends
Summary: Five years, you thought he was gone for good. After the War, he disappeared. Now, after months of zero contact, he shows up at your bridal salon. A somewhat bitter Reader and a post-FATWS Bucky
Pairing: Bucky x F!Reader
Word count: 2381
Warnings: Mentions of past violence and killings, adult language
I sigh, securing the train of the dress so it doesnât drag against the floor. The dress is stunning, as they all are. This oneâpouffy, ivory, grandâhas a bateau neckline and falls to the floor in a long, glittering train.
The glitter gets everywhere.
I bend down, trying to wipe some of it off my pants leg, then work on my blazer. Every day, only black clothes. Itâs tradition, but a stupid one â the glitter stands out on my clothes more than it does on the white dresses.
âMiss, someoneâs here to see you.â
I grit my teeth, digging my hands into the fabric of the dress. The receptionist is young â barely out of her teens, really â and still quite new at her job. She, like others, disappeared on that awful day five and a half years ago.
The day I lost everything.
And sheâs here today because of my friendsâ sacrifices.
I try to remind myself to be patient. âWeâre appointment only, Lydia. Tell her to call, make an appointment, and come back then.â
âR-right,â she stammers, and I can hear the bottoms of her heels scraping against the floor as she shifts her weight. âItâs justâwell, he said itâs really important, and wouldnât take no for an answer.â
That gives me pause. He?
As a product manager at a bridal salon, my day is mostly spent in the company of women. Brides, their mothers, bridal parties, wedding planners, etc. Thereâs the occasional fiancĂ©, father, brother, friend come to support, or a groom shopping for a dress, but overall, men tend to stand out.
âFine, send him in,â I allow. Itâs obvious heâs not listening to Lydia, but I know Iâm more intimidating than she is. Iâll tell him to schedule an appointment. âAnd then do me a favor â thereâs a list of designers on my desk upstairs. Can you give their offices a call and update the contact info for each brand representative?â
She sounds relieved. âSure, no problem.â
As the sound of her heels meeting the ground fade away, I breathe in the sweet, floral-scented air. Weâre under-booked today. There are only a few brides occupying our east fitting rooms, so Iâve decided to spend my afternoon in the west, making everything look perfect for the weekend ahead. Having this section alone â just me, the soft piano music playing over the speakers, and the dresses â is almost peaceful.
It would be peaceful if I were anyone else.
I continue to straighten the dresses. Everything needs to be perfectly spaced, meticulously tucked and folded to make each dress impressive in its own way. Thereâs no room for imperfection, here.
The sound of heavy boots clicking on the floor rings through the empty room. âHey, Doll.â
My body runs cold.
That voice. I know it well.
My mind flashes to late nights, stealing smiles and kisses, tight hugs, adoring eyes.
And then falling to the ground in grief. Changing outfits to attend my second funeral of the day. His. And, after years of grieving, healing, and suffering through, one chance to fix it all. The joy of having him back. Locking eyes on the battlefield.
And then nothing.
Nothing.
All my air leaves me in one, quick, sigh. âYouâve got to be kidding me.â
I turn, both dreading the sight and longing for it.
And just like that, standing between two rows of eggshell and pearl and ivory, heâs here.
Dark denim jeans, a deep blue shirtâlong sleeve, knowing himâa grey button-up open on his chest, and two thick gloves, despite the summer heat.
I cross my arms.
He purses his lips together and raises his eyebrows, crossing one foot over the other casually. âSo, bridal, huh?â
I feel my jaw clench. âIâve got to make a living, donât I? Evidently you do, too.â I canât stop the bitterness from seeping into my voice.
He sighs that long-suffering sigh, one that tells me heâs more resigned than upset. âI wanted to come back.â
I turn my attention back to the dresses, walking down the row of gleaming white. âNo one was stopping you.â
He turns to face me as I continue my inspection of each and every gown. âItâs not that simple. IâI was working hard. I had to get freed from him.â
I grit my teeth, fighting the urge to feel something. But of course, I do. Ever since Iâve known Bucky, heâs been wrecked by the things heâs done and terrified heâll be called to do them again.
Terrified that heâll lose his mind once again to the assassin.
When I saw him on TV, in a random news report from months ago, Iâd broken down into sobs. Iâd fallen to my knees and said prayer after prayer of thanks. Because the clouds had faded from his eyes. The fear, the ever-present dread, was gone. He stood taller, more assured â
Happier.
I knew then, that somehow, heâd gotten the Winter Soldier out.
I bend down, fluffing layers of crinoline in a ballgown. âYouâve been in the news.â
He hears the accusation in my voice. Youâve been back for months.
He approaches me slowly, coming to stand in front of me as I straighten. âI had a job to do.â
âWhat, the new Captain America doesnât allow cell phones?â
He ignores the jab. âDoll, I had to wait to make sure, to be sure, but Iâm safe, now. Iâm not him anymore.â
âBucky, I always felt safe with you,â I whisper, the emotion nearly winning. âI loved you more than anything. And despite what you said â that you loved me, too â you just left. Five years I waited for you. I didnât think there was any way I would ever see you again, and then by some miracle, after so much loss, you came back! We fought in a war together. We killed. And we won. And then you disappeared. Itâs been six months! I-I mean, I hate to think the worst, Bucky, but I really thoughtââ I cut off my words then, unable to continue without dissolving into tears.
His jaw tightens in that heartbreaking way it does when heâs sad, and he reaches forward. When I donât protest to his gloved hand on mine, he pulls me into a hug. I want to melt into him. I want to collapse under nearly six years of unresolved grief, stress, worry, and let him hold me up, let him bear this burden for just a few minutes.
But thatâs not the way Iâm made.
Iâve entrusted my heart to him too many times.
And every time, Iâm left alone and broken.
I push myself out of his arms, wiping my tears away quickly. Once again, the dresses act as my anchor, my distraction. I gather one in my arms, crossing the aisle to re-hang it in its proper place.
Bucky watches from a distance.
His hands are tucked into his pockets, and he looks at me sadly for a while before his eyes turn to the ground.
Silence falls between us. The only noises are the coos of elated brides and their adoring guests coming from the east side of the building.
After a while, Bucky raises his head towards me. âDoes working here make you want it?â
I sigh. He canât do that. Canât come in here after so much time away with zero contact and then casually ask me stupid questions. âWant what?â
âYou know,â he shrugs, leaning against the receptionistâs desk. âIt. A wedding, a marriage, aâŠlife.â
I purse my lips, shaking my head. I reach to adjust a hanger slightly out of my arm span, trying my hardest not to sound sad. âIâm not the kind of girl you marry, Buck. Not anymore.â
He scoffs, making a face. âWhat does that even mean?â
I turn on him, more than done with this conversation. âExactly that! I see it every day â brides come in here, all starry-eyed, happy, innocent. Theyâve got love, or at least the excitement of planning their âbig day,â and they just glow with all the life in them. I donât have that, not anymore. Iââ I lower my voice, gritting my teeth against the emotion that attempts to fight through. âIâve killed people, Bucky. For a long period of time, thatâs all I did. And, look, Iâm really, really happy for you being able to heal and move on and be freed, but I canât do that. I canât come back from who I turned out to be.â
âThatâs bullshit. You did what you had to do.â He pushes himself off the receptionistâs desk, adamant. âEvery life you took was to stop the slaughter of others. You canât blame yourself for that.â
âI can.â
We stare each other down.
Heâs always had a good stare.
Steady, intimidating, unwavering. Itâs like he can see into the depths of your soul and know he can outlast you.
But I work with furious mothers of the brides.
I raise an eyebrow, showing him I will not back down from this challenge.
He blinks and moves his gaze past my right shoulder. Something shifts in his eyes. âYouâve got a client.â
I force my expression to soften, maneuvering around Bucky to grab the clipboard from the receptionistâs desk. I give him a look that clearly says do not move, and hurry to the front door to welcome the bride and her guests in. Amidst the flurry of excited chatters, gushing about wedding plans, and a clear description of what she does not want, I check them in on the clipboard and take them to the east wing to meet a consultant. When I return, Bucky is exactly where I left him.
He smirks at me. âWhat the hell was that? Your voice rose like three octaves.â
I roll my eyes. âItâs called customer service.â
He shrugs, leaning against the desk in a way I should not find ridiculously attractive. âWell, why donât I get any of that?â
I grit my teeth. âBecause they are going to buy a dress, which will pay my salary, which will make me happy. You on the other hand, have caused me nothing but anger, sadness, and worry.â I blink, absently shocked that all that truth escaped despite my best efforts.
Something flashes in Buckyâs eyesâregret, maybeâbut he covers it well, tilting his head to the side and keeping his playful tone. âReally? Nothing but that? Gosh, I must have been a terrible boyfriend.â
I dig my teeth into my lower lip, staring down at my clipboard. Itâs been six months. You may as well continue with the honesty. You donât know the next time youâll have a change to talk to him like this. âBuckâŠâ I approach him slowly, buying myself time. Too soon, I come to stand in front of him. âYou were a great boyfriend. IâŠâ I sigh, shaking my head. âI thought you were it. I didnât want anyone else. And we were happy, overall. You knowâup until you disappeared without so much as a text and ignored me for six months.â
A muscle twitches in his cheek. He leans forward, locking his eyes with mine. âWe were good together. I loved you, more than anything, Iâwell Doll, I still love you. And look, I know Iâve messed up. In more ways than seems is humanly possible, but I,â he sighs, shaking his head. âIâm as clean as Iâm ever gonna get. I shouldnât have disappeared without warning. I shouldâve called when I left Wakanda. I shouldâve let you hear from me rather than seeing me on the news. I shouldâve come back and done the work to rebuild what I broke. Iâm sorry. I really am.â
I feel the clipboard digging into my stomach. I donât move. I stare at him, terrified of the way his words, the honesty in his eyes, makes me react. Too easily, my walls are coming down. âWhat did you come here for?â
âIâjust,â he digs his hands into his pockets, sighing lowly. âIâm back in town. And Iâm here to stay for a while. If youâd allow it, Iâd like to try to make amends.â
Donât do it, I beg myself. Donât set yourself up for more pain.
In the face of my silence, he nods slowly, taking on a look of sad understanding.
âI work till seven.â The words rush from my mouth before I can stop them, before I can think of the consequences. I grip the clipboard even tighter.
Bucky raises an eyebrow, the start of a smile tugging at the edge of his lips. âYeah?â
âYeah,â I nod, my heart racing at the prospect of being with him again, of maybe fixing things. âI live in the same apartment.â
He grins fully now, but at my stern look, attempts to wipe it off his face. Iâm still mad at him, he shouldnât get too comfortable yet.
But the light doesnât leave his eyes and, despite my fear that this will all turn out terribly for me, I feel my own lips threatening to turn up.
He pushes himself off the desk, standing closer to me than I think either of us intended. âCan I take you out?â
I release a long breath, not moving from my spot despite our proximity. âYes.â
He nods slowly, not pulling his gaze from mine. âItâs a date.â
âItâs a trial period,â I correct, unable to keep myself from teasing him a little.
He tilts his head to the side, laughing indulgently. âAlright, I deserve that. Then, sure, Iâll pick you up at eight for our trial period.â
He smirks cockily at me, winking in that way he knows makes my knees weak, before turning and swaggering to the door.
Despite our play, heâs not getting off this easy. Thereâs a lot we have to work through, and we might not even be compatible anymore â he knows that, too.
But for just this moment, I allow myself to enjoy feeling comfortable with him, joking like we used to. When his gloved hand reaches for the doorknob, I call after him, keeping my tone light. âYouâre on thin fucking ice, Barnes.â
He turns his head to mine, nodding solemnly in a way I didnât expect. âI know, Doll.â
A/n Whoops, couldnât get this one out of my head after seeing Bucky in FATWS, so hereâs some angst, bitterness, and hopefully a little hope!Â

Every dress didnât seem to fit properly no matter what mirror with different light in your apartment you tried. The spare bathroomâs bulb was dying, so that made the colour appear off, and the best mirror was dirty, which would dampen the romantic goal. Nothing made you feel that oomph that you desired for this date.Â
You could wear the standby little black dress of which you had two options, the clubbing one or the work appropriate one. It didnât seem right to choose a standard black and no colour for this insanely sweet guy that had this insane energy. With that thought in mind, you dug deeper in your closet for that special dress that youâd never found someone worthy of it. It was your best dress and your most expensive with the tags still on. You would have gone for the maroon dress but it was Valentineâs Day and that seemed like over kill.
Somehow it still fit perfectly despite the length of time from purchase, it was a vibrant green satin with lace matching the colour. The dress's satin ended just below the knee with the matching lace falling an additional six inches past. The A-line skirt was loose flowing contrasting to the form-fitting material across your bust and midsection.Â
One of your favourite parts of the dress was the off-shoulder bateau neckline that gave a tasteful sneak of your cleavage. The bottom of the thick straps came to make a perfectly straight horizontal line. Across your waist was a one-inch wide satin ribbon attached to the dress that formed a perfect bow that tied the outfit together, no pun intended.
âWhoa.â You breathed stepping in front of the floor-length mirror kept in the spare bedroom, it had once been your roommatesâ room before she moved.
You had to admit the dress was magical with it, bringing out all your curves and went with your skin tone. It was a pure shock to see how you managed to make the dress come to life with just a makeup look that was easy to do. All you did next was your favourite beige heels that went with everything. You had just slid on the left heel when the buzzer sounded and slid the right on as you hit the button unlocking the apartment building door.
âThis is going to be perfect.â You breathed leaning into the mirror beside the front door. You inspected your lipstick as a knock sounded on the dark brown wood of your door.Â
âYou look gorgeous.â Your date breathed, widening those colour changing irises as he took in your outfit, âYou take my breath away. Happy Valentineâs Dayâ
Your cheeks flushed, âThank you, Charlie.â
He stepped into the apartment as you quickly went to the kitchen to grab your coat and purse with your essentials. He had gently retrieved the coat from your arms to help you into the cold jacket.Â
âI know traditionally I would have brought you flowers, but I also know you love books.â Charlie breathed grasping the items in his hands, âSo I got these flowers.â
His warm hands held three books. The top one was The Orchid House by Lucinda Riley with a cover that had the background blurry with only the back of a girl in clarity. The girlâs pink dress matching the flower in the upper corner of the book. The next cover proudly displayed The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley with red flowers growing down on a stone building. The third one was a light pink book with an anatomically correct heart with flowers growing out of the arteries, veins and valves; a collection of poetry I Saw You As a Flower by Ellen Everett. Lastly, you held Rupi Kaurâs second collection of poetry The Sun and her Flowers that had come out a couple years ago.
âCharlie, this is so thoughtful. You even has a rose one!â You breathlessly spoke gently touching the covers, âThank you so much for these.â
âI thought we could read them together?â Charlie was bashful as he quietly asked with flushed cheeks. He didnât know why he felt like this was his very first date all over again.
âIâd love that.â You softly told the Canadian with the manners a mother would be jealous to have in her home. Charlieâs fingers linked with yours as he tugged you out of the apartment into the hallway.
Your hands swung during the short walk from the apartment building to his bright orange Subaru across the street. The sound of the light wind rustling the trees lining the sidewalk mixed with the humming from Charlie was a perfect film score. He was the ideal gentleman even before he asked you out.
You couldnât wait to tell your close loved ones about Charlie. You could really see this going somewhere. The relationship that is, as you were now on the side of a road with the Subaruâs hazard lights flashing.
âI forgot to fill the tank.â Charlie moaned, pressing his forehead against the steering wheel. His eyes clenched just as tight as his fists.
The Canadian was so embarrassed to have had what he thought was the best date of his life. Heâd played music from the playlist he had patiently curated specifically for this date, and he held your hand to the restaurant. Heâd already made plans for another date when his carâs warning beeped.
In Charlieâs haste, heâd forgotten to fuel up his car, so here he was with the prettiest person heâd ever seen in his passenger seat. His confidence in a second date had greatly diminished.
âChar, you said Owen was on his way. There isnât anyone else Iâd prefer to be stranded with. Donât be so hard on yourself.â
âI wanted this date to go perfect. This is my first Valentineâs Day with someone.â Charlie admitted turning his head to stare into warm pools of your e/y colours. His eyes scanned the soft smile that appeared on your face as his confession, âI had this whole thing planned out, and now you definitely wonât want a second-â
âIâm gonna kiss you. If you donât want that, let me know.â You murmured before pulling him in for what would be the best kiss of your life thus far.
Sure his car broke down, but you kissed him anyway. He tasted of the complimentary chocolate dessert from dinner.
A Year Later
A young, admittedly broke couple sat on the cold floor of the unpacked kitchen eating SpaghettiOs. You had only just moved into the studio apartment with Charlie that had drained most of your savings. Had it not been in a decently safe area in the city and a close commute you would have said no.
But it was the perfect starting place for you two as you both were unfamiliar with living with an SO. It sucked on each of your ends to not have a better situation, Charlie wanted nothing more than to spoil you on the first day living together. Unfortunately, it wasnât possible but sitting on the floor with a cheap candle was imperfectly perfect.
âIâm sorry weâre eating out of cans.â Charlie whispered pointedly, keeping his eyes on the spoon, stirring the red sauce with the beige circles.
âChar this is perfect. As long as itâs you and I then anything is perfect. Besides we didnât label the boxes, I have no idea which box has our kitchenware.â You admitted glancing at the boxes boarding the edge of the room.Â
You ate out of cans for at least a week before you had unpacked the kitchen and had the means to buy actual groceries. Living together thus far had been going super smooth until wasnât.
It was a bad day on both your parts, your entire work was deleted after a computer glitch. Charlie had auditioned for a role he had been really really wanting since he heard about it. Your father came down with the flu axing the plans to meet for dinner; it would have been the first time in six months you saw him in person.
The apartment's atmosphere had been rising and very volatile by mid-afternoon when Charlie blatantly forgot a deal. If he was going to play music, it had to be in the study so you could focus on your work.Â
Today heâd decided to be in close vicinity to have a virtual jam session with both Owen and Jeremy. Heâd chosen the room you were in solely because it had the best wifi reception which you needed as well.
âCharlie, please can you go to the study? Iâm trying to finish this!â You cried out as he struck a chord on the electric. His eyebrows came other in the glare he sent you, âI lost all my work last night.â
âThe guys and I are working on songs-â
â-Charlie, this is due tonight. I canât concentrate with-â
âItâs not my fault you have a shitty attention span!â Charlie angrily snapped contradicting the gentle touch on his guitar. He placed it back on the stand to not accidentally damage it, âThe wifi is best in this room.â
âIâm very much aware of that Charlie. Out of the two of us, I use it the most. Can you please either move to the study or at least wait an hour so I can finish?â You pleaded with the Canadian actor ignoring the two guys on the computer silently waiting for the fight to be over.
âWhy can't you mov-â
âFine. I will.â You fully stared down your boyfriend for a full five seconds before you harshly closed the top of your computer. It took seconds to gather your work stuff into the leather satchel you stored the computer in, âYou didnât even mute the call.â
Charlie watched as you swiftly pulled on your jacket, âBabe-â
The sound of the door slamming shut cut his sentence before he even had a chance to speak his thoughts. The apartment was eerily silent compared to the sounds of music that always played through the Bluetooth speaker.
The inspiration to play evaporated with the aftermath of a stupid argument permeated the apartment typically filled with love. All three actors quietly said their goodbyes before they ended the video call.
You spent an hour uncomfortably sitting in a cafe finishing up what youâd needed to finish with the argument replaying. Your finger barely hit the button to send the email before you had already stepped outside the business. You spent the walk struggling to draft a text to your boyfriend.Â
It didnât matter because when you walked into the apartment, you heard the soft song youâd both deemed yours. It was cheesy, but that was part of Charlieâs charm. Speaking of your boyfriend, he was sat on the floor of your kitchen with matching mugs of brownies.
âIâm sorry. I was insensitive.â Charlie started as soon as your jacket was draped over one of the kitchen chairs. His usually wide smile was as bashful as the one heâd worn on the night of your first date.
âNo Iâm sorry, Charlie. I could have easily put on my headphones or moved to the bedroom for a bit. The fight was stupid, and I love you so much that sometimes I think I take you for granted. I mean, look at you! You made the brownie cups-â
âEven sitting on the cold floor like when we moved in.â Charlie cheekily inserted, reaching over to hold your hands in his, âI like our tradition. I definitely like how we upgraded from SpaghettiOs to brownies.â
âMe too.â You breathed leaning over to press a lingering kiss on his lips. His hands delving into your hair to keep you close.
The butterflies stormed your stomach as the heat slowly inflated from your toes until it reached your flushing cheeks. Raw emotion pouring into the passionate kiss that only closed down as you broke for air. But you also went back in as that warmth slowly built in your tummies. Charlieâs eyes marginally opened to ensure he wasnât imagining the Angel he got to kiss.
Finally, with heavy breathing, you pulled apart, but only a fleeting moment froze the time in the apartment. For, as soon as Charlie caught your dilated pupils, his one hand cupped the back of your hand, fingers tangled in your h/c tresses.Â
Soon enough, you were making up on the kitchen floor with each article of clothing tossed in the vicinity. A shirt landed on the kitchen sink spout. The brownie mugs forgotten as you gave into the passion with your boyfriend. Your lovemaking had you missing supper.
Charlieâs solution was a trip to the local authentic English pub founded by a nice guy from London. You never failed to stop him for a dance in the empty street as his smooth voice gave music for smooth motions. Dancing was a common thing from pulling off the road in Dieppe to dance. You drank and danced at the pub until Jack cut you off at 2am as his pub rules had.
You and Charlie just laughed in a love bubble as the real-world worries faded because you always came together in the rough times.
Months later you returned to Dieppe with Charlie to spend the holidays with them. The entire family together creating such a welcoming atmosphere.
âIâm gonna grab a glass of water.â You informed the group of gals ad non-binary pals who had gathered in Meghanâs bedroom. The group had decided to sleep over Megâs childhood room with face masks, nail polish and lovely wine.
Meg and Jeannette both nodded to acknowledge your announcement before they returned to their respective conversations. You took a moment to take in the great group of Gillespie and Co you had the honour to be part of. The thirst was only temporarily forgotten in the happy bubble you found yourself in.
You practically skipped to the kitchen, barely noticing the two people in the living room, but their words stopped you in your tracks. Your boyfriend, Charlie Gillespie, stood close to his older brothers Ryan, Patrick and Michael.
âIâm gonna ask her to marry-â Charlie caught himself from finishing the sentence when he saw you standing pale-faced at the opening into the living room.
His entire body was encapsulated by the lights casting in the living room from the Christmas tree. The tree couldnât hold a candle to the ring of your dreams that promptly had you bursting into tears.
âI RUINED THE SURPRISE!â You sobbed dropping your face into your cold hands, avoiding the gaze of the Gillespie brothers. Had you not been hiding in your hands you would have known the older three had vacated the room.
âHey, itâs okay.â Charlie cooed with the ring safely put away in the box he had shoved back in his pocket, âYou didnât ruin the surprise. I shouldnât have been telling my brothers in the middle of the living room.â
Charlieâs warm hands slowly pulled your hands from your soft post-mask skin with such a pretty healthy glow. He could see the remnants of the mask on the edge of your scalp, but it didnât take away from your beauty.
âIâm sorry.â You whispered, staring up at him from underneath your eyelashes. The soft hazel eyes not upset in the least, things often didnât go the way you wanted to together.
Take the first date from over two years ago where you and Charlie had waited for Owen to meet you with a jug of gas. Youâd shared childhood stories and future dreams. Or the time you hadnât marked the boxes creating an entire week of eating out of cans and cartons.
Ruining the proposal was almost expected at this rate.
âI knew from the moment I saw you in that emerald dress I knew that you were the One for me. Iâve adored each moment Iâve gotten with you from the spontaneous dances on the side of the road. To bursting into song in the middle of the street.â Charlie shakily started with sweating bands but an open heart, âWhen your best friend told me the emerald dress was the special one, it melted my heart.â
âCharlie.â
âOther than my belief that this relationship will last, I was only ever sure of one thing in my life. I was sure I would be an actor, but now Iâm more sure that my favourite role will be supporting you, loving you and evolving with you as your husband.â Charlie sniffled, taking one hand from yours to wipe the tears flooding his cheeks, âWill you marry me?â
âYes.â You breathed lunging on your tiptoes to kiss him with as much passion as you could. Your hands caressed the skin of his cheeks; his long tresses tickling your wrists.
âGod I love you.â Charlie gushed with a gentle shake of his head. His hazel pinned to your e/c eyes as if you were the most precious gem in the world.
A voice cut the bubble enveloping you, âWell are you gonna put the ring on her finger or what?â
Charlieâs head moved to meet the teary eyes of his mother surrounded by his siblings as they bounced on their feet. You laughed as your now fiance clumsily rushed to slide the absolutely gorgeous ring on your finger.Â
âWelcome to the family officially.â Jeannette cheered along with the celebratory whistles and yells as the crowd of the family grew more and more. Soon enough, the entire room was overflowing with people congratulating your new engagement.
Months later, you stood in front of that same group holding the hands of your handsome fiance. Both dressed to the nines in front of the officiant.
âI wasnât looking for a fairytale, because they all end the same. The princess has a conflict that she revolves with the help of the prince. They get married and live happily ever after. I adore how weâre writing our own story that fits our relationship. Charlie Gillespie, I wouldnât change a thing about our lives. I wouldnât have it any other way even with the fighting and slamming doors, but we always end up on our kitchen floor making up with two brownies in mugs.â Your vows brought tears among the onlookers along with the Canadian barely keeping it together.
The vows would later be eloquently transformed into lyrics from you with the accompanying melody provided by Charlie. On Valentineâs Day, you played the song on the kitchen floor with a plate of brownies. Three brownies waiting to be devoured.
âThree for each of us.â You wept as you watched as Charlie melted into a puddle of joyful tears. He took no time in placing his hand over your flat stomach.
Yeah, you wouldnât have it any other way. Especially when Valentineâs Day become more to the Gillespie family; a new little love taking up the day.

Robin Hood Rewatch: 3x07 Too Hot To Handle
So the dvds from the library haven't come yet, but life finds a way. That is, some kind soul has uploaded the series to YouTube, which accounts for the potato quality of some of the screenshots, but hey.
This week is the inevitable Robin/Isabella rift, while Guy finally gets to be Sheriff for a total of five minutes (lol), Prince John continues to be entertaining, and Kate gets captured (again). The rest of the gang? Propping up the scenery.
It's (presumably) summer in Nottinghamshire, where they seem to be experiencing a drought. Not so in Locksley Manor, where the water flows freely and PJ and Isabella engage in some painful flirting, but Isabella's main intent seems to be currying PJ's favor to stick it to Guy.
Isabella goes outside where Robin is waiting for her with strawberries, something that pisses me off no end. The people are practically dying of thirst, Robin, and you take fruit to Isabella who absolutely does not need it. THERE'S FRUIT INSIDE. IT'S ON THE TABLE. RIGHT HERE.
I know Robin is meant to be seen as selfish here, since the narrative of this episode is the choice between a normal life and his life as Robin Hood, and he's got the blinkers on for Isabella instead of his people, but this is the only moment that actually is the case. It just seems too obliviously self-centred, even for Robin.
But he and Isabella make with the flirt, and while it is somewhat jarring as a viewer to see Robin move so quickly into a romance with Isabella, I donât necessarily think itâs unexpected. Firstly, itâs not uncommon for widow/ers to marry again within a short period of time, and secondly, it harkens back to the Robin we meet in the first episode, who certainly wasnât adverse to a flirtation - I donât think at this point Robin is thinking much outside of that mindset, perhaps heâs even trying to recapture that carefree part of himself without the great weight of responsibility he feels in all other aspects.
I just want to take a sec to talk about Isabella's costuming. Generally I like the clothing upgrade for everyone this season (even Robin's has grown on me), but there's more going on here. Since her introduction, Isabella's gowns have been a very similar style - an off the shoulder/bateau neckline, often with the front laces partly undone and no shift or chemise in sight. Obviously this sexualises her, positioning Isabella as a temptress to both Robin and Prince John, but I think it's also intended to convey her vulnerability - how in fleeing an abusive marriage she's needed to rely on the whims of men - keeping them on side by seeking their attention and protection. IIRC, her style shifts once she becomes Sheriff and gains the power to protect herself.
Guy is annoyed PJ hasn't made him Sheriff yet, and PJ points out he he has everything but the title, the power, and the castle. LOL.
"Obviously [Robin] has to hang. The only problem is the people insist on adoring him still." A great line reading from Toby Stephens.
PJ has figured out that he needs to give the people what they need/want if he is to be loved like Robin, and that's water. I actually think this is a nice little contrast to last episode where he used fire to burn the Locksley Church, and now he's giving them water to figuratively put out the flames - that decision was spur of the moment (fire doing damage in seconds), this one is calculated (water trickling over time) - it's all very elemental and lets us into PJ's hot/cold psyche a bit.
However PJ looks out the window and sees Isabella provocatively eating a strawberry with Robin, figuring out in one scene (that his would-be paramour is playing both sides) what it took Guy two seasons to accept. Although to be fair, Robin and Marian were never so stupid as to flirt literally outside Locksley Manor while Guy was inside, and perhaps this is indicative of Robin's increased recklessness.
Robin tells Isabella goodnight - was this meant to have been shot day-for-night and they just forgot to to the colour correction? If Robin and Isabella were meeting in the dark they wouldn't seem so stupid, but in summer it doesn't get dark in England until like 10pm - so either way I guess.
When they get to the castle, however, it is dark. PJ explains that's he's blocked the underground spring to hoard Nottingham's water supply. I mean as plans go it's not bad? He then gets to position himself as benevolent overlord - able to give them what even Robin Hood cannot.
In Locksley, the well is dry. We meet Ellie and her baby, who is apparently Kate's godson. This won't have a bearing on the plot, we just need to know that Kate is also adored by the Locksley villagers. No sign of Rebecca or Maggie though - are they still around? Did they leave?
Robin is moody that what they do never seems to change anything. And I kid you not, Kate replies: "Well thank goodness for me then." That is an actual line in the script! She really stands there in the face of Robin's malaise and essentially says "but MEEEE!" She delivers the news that she's found out where PJ is hiding the water like she's cracked the Enigma code rather than just noticing a building being guarded, and everyone pats her on the back! Literally!
This episode was written by Chris Lang, in a one and done for the show. Were they given direction to make Kate as smug and self-satisfied as possible? Because she has been written so consistently terrible across several writers now and canât be a coincidence.
Guy doesn't believe Isabella would be in league with Robin, and we're getting Marian parallels all over this episode, because PJ has set a trap for her. Remember when Guy set a trap to uncover the spy in the castle and almost caught Marian? I bet he does, even if he's in denial about Isabella as much as he was about Marian.
PJ tells Guy to kill them both if he finds them, and Guy has a twinge of conscience.
The gang liberate the water from PJ's hoard and deliver it to the people of Locksley. There's a cute little bit where Ellie says her son's name is Robin, and he is flattered but she teases him that it was after the bird. He's suitable chastised before Ellie's husband Jack explains that he was in fact named for Robin - because he was a sickly lad and they wanted to give him a name of strength. I really like these small moments showing the connection between Robin and his people.
Interesting tidbit: Jack is played by Matt Devere, who has popped up on the show several times, including as Henry of Lewes, several guards, and the tar seller earlier this season.
Robin broods, and Marian's Theme kicks in - he tells Much he envies Ellie and Jack because "they have each other". This is a happy couple with a young child - a family Robin will never have, and no matter how hard he's tried to sublimate his grief it rises to the fore every now and then.
Much tells Robin "well, we have each other" but agrees when Robin points out it's not the same. As nicely subtle as Much is in this moment - knowing there's nothing he can say, and can only be there as support - his character really has been shafted this season. Where is the progression from his rightful outburst in the barn, from Robin's confessions - where is Much coming into his own? Instead we have the stupid crush on Kate.
Speak of the devil, she arrives to say that Isabella told her offscreen she wants to meet Robin in the meadow. If we're to buy this great animosity/rivalry between Isabella and Kate, shouldn't we have seen this interaction? At least given Kate an actual reason to dislike Isabella other than petty jealousy, which is never a good look on anyone.
Robin has developed a new tick: winding a piece of cloth around his fist - he did the same thing last episode with Isabella's blindfold.
Thereâs also a continuity error - in the two shot coverage on Robin, heâs wearing the cloth around his neck, on the coverage of Kate, he isnât.
Tuck is also in the anti-Isabella camp, for reasons I still can't fathom. To their credit, John and Much point out that she's helped them before (Allan says nothing, probably not wanting to have any aspersions cast on his own loyalties), but Tuck insinuates that Robin is thinking with this dick and that Robin's priority should be to stay in Locksley to help dole out the water.
And this is what I'm talking about - this false dichotomy presented that it's Isabella or being Robin Hood - Robin is absolutely right when he points out that she may have information that could help them solve the water crisis. Absolutely right! Because she does!
Later he'll be gaslit that he shouldn't have trusted her on the basis of Tuck and Kate's gut feelings, but in this scene Robin is 100% correct and they're being ridiculous about it.
But they succeed in getting inside his head - despite the heat, Robin puts on his doublet and takes his weapons to meet Isabella, and treats her with suspicion. At this point she's completely honest with him - she doesn't want to be on the losing side, seeks to undermine Guy, and wants Robin to like her. He calls it a "politically motivated act" but is flirty. They kiss while Guy is watching from the treeline.
PJ arrives in Locksley with the water grand gesture, but sees he's been usurped. He forces a villager to tell him it was Robin who gave them water, and then orders his guards to plunge the poor guy face first into the barrel.
PJ has snapped, and is back to fire - if the villagers want water they will have to pay him for it. The guards pour out the barrel, and I thought the villager would splutter and cough but no, he's dead.
And the gang? Watch and do nothing! No doubt the implication was "oh if only Robin were there to help like Tuck wanted instead of making out with Isabella..." But is the gang not capable of interceding? There are five of them and PJ only has a handful of guards - they've faced worse odds. Instead they stand there and let a man drown rather than doing anything to stop it. This is not the We Are Robin Hood spirit!
Guy chains Robin and Isabella together as he accuses them both of treason, Robin accuses Isabella of setting him up, and she tries to placate both of them.
"You made me believe that we may have a future together" Um...no? I find this line extremely strange based on Robin and Isabella's relationship so far - clearly Robin didn't believe anything of the sort given his earlier brooding and general distrust of Isabella. Now Robin obviously has an intense attraction to her, and he has at times shown attachment that beguiles the amount of time they'd actually spent together, but I don't believe for a second that Robin thought anything about the future, as most of their interaction has been based on the intensity of the moment - hot or cold again.
Isabella asks Guy to let her go, and he agrees if she will kill Robin.
"It's a shame you didn't show that compassion to Marian before you ran her through." Robin is a ball of simmering rage at this line.
Robin and Isabella feign disdain for each other, but it's unclear if the other knows it. There's a three way fight, Robin and Isabella still shackled together and itâs rather nicely choreographed.
Robin stops Isabella from killing Guy, but given he tries to kill Guy later on this episode it seems his objection is the slaughter of a man while unconscious, and not the murder itself. Noblesse Oblige.
Isabella says she's hated Guy for 17 years. We know she was 13 when she was sold in marriage to Thornton, which makes her 30. So...older than Robin? I don't think his age is ever mentioned on screen, but for some reason I though it was accepted wisdom he was 25 in season 1, which would have him no more than 28 as of this episode (although given the jumping around in the timeline/seasons, who knows). But I don't think this matches up with the ages of the kids in the flashback episode? 17 years is a long time to be in an abusive marriage, especially when that abuse started when Isabella was still a child.
Anyway it's a good scene, and Isabella and Robin bonding over their hatred of Guy makes sense. His actions have helped make them both who they are, stripped away a bit of their humanity - at the core of it, both Robin and Isabella are two broken people that could either find solace and solidarity in the other, or destroy each other. Of course it turns out to be the latter.
PJ sure knows how to sit in a chair.
We get a glimpse into his pathology - he's as ruthless as the Sheriff, but where Vaisey genuinely didn't care what the populace thought of him, and if anything thrived on their distaste for him because it gave him power, PJ desperately wants their love because he thinks heâs entitled to it, and doesnât understand that it must be earned.
"Maybe they need to truly hate me, before they can understand how to truly love me." A great line, and Toby Stephensâ performance really is so compelling.
But take a look at the ring on PJ's finger - doesn't it look a lot like "Marian's" ring Robin buried in 3x01? Maybe that ring was meant to be the one King Richard gave to wed them, aka a royal signet. Or the props department just reused it (which is probably more likely).
Robin and Isabella argue over which way Clun is, which seems a foolish thing to have your characters fight over when one has lived in the forest for years and one moved into the area five minutes ago.
"Surely you can't be made at me for letting you have your own way?" The banter is silly, but this seems to hit home. It is the kind of playful back and forth that is reminiscent of Marian (although the banter with her was better written), and it endears Isabella to Robin again. I donât think he realises at this point that he is partly drawn to Isabella because she reminds him of Marian - if he did, I think he would have come to the realisation later in the episode much sooner and backed off.
And I think a part of it - for both of them - is to really stick it to Guy. Robin by romancing his sister, and Isabella his greatest enemy.
They get de-shackled in Clun, and Isabella points out she has nowhere to go. Robin assures her that she has him, and this really makes his rejection of her at the end even worse.
She asks what Marian was like, and Robin immediately clamps up again -Â the tense way he deflects with âwhat was who like?â knowing full well what sheâs asking.
"She was Marian" and "I just want to forget" makes sense from the perspective that Robin only remains functional by disassociating from his grief, and therefore cannot think/talk about her. But as a viewer, did I really wanted this to be a longer scene.
But it also serves to give Isabella the wrong idea - that he's moved on, that Marian's death wasn't so fundamentally devastating as it was - she doesn't see Robin as a man knowingly living on borrowed time, but someone who can love. It endears Robin to her again.
Also, much better shot of her costume here:
The gang leads the villagers to the River Trent. PJ has set up a patrol, and one of the guards recognises Tuck (the only black man in England this season, I guess). John knocks them both out, but they all run when reinforcements arrive.
And oh golly gee, Kate's been captured!
Robin and Isabella get under the castle to unblock the spring, but Guy has escaped and traps them in the chamber to drown.
Kate is brought before Prince John, and that makes two threats of sexual assault against her this season.
Much is going on about how he would do anything for Kate and no one is listening. Allan is helping a little old lady, which is very sweet. Tuck tries his hand at water divining.
PJ announces Guy as Sheriff, and the nobles in the room actually seem quite pleased. This is it, the culmination of Guy's ambition, and he doesn't seem like he knows how to feel about it.
Robin and Isabella hold each other to keep afloat, and Isabella tells him about her dream that they lived together in a farmhouse with animals and four children, but Robin is thinking of Marian (her Theme is back in case it wasn't absolutely clear) - even his comment "and the girls your brains" seems to be more about Marian than Isabella.
Does Isabella truly want this? Probably not. I think Isabella wants safety - and a humdrum rural life could be quite appealing in that context.
The staging of this scene is important too, because they can't see each other - Isabella hears Robin say the dream is "perfect" and so is happy, thinking they're on the same page, but if she'd seen his face she'd have known his heart wasn't in it.
Because that is exactly what Robin did want - to live in Locksley Manor and take care of his people and work his lands, he just canât imagine that life with anyone but Marian.
Robin sees a way out (of the conversation as much as anything else), Isabella takes off her dress to use as a robe, and she is wearing a kirtle underneath after all.
Robin misses the first two shots - have we ever seen him miss like that before? Maybe that fall in 3x01 had long term effects.
I ask you, how did this fit under what she was wearing earlier? Thereâs no way it wouldnât have been visible when the gown was so low in her shoulders.
Kate is being kept in the dungeon, and urges Robin not to trust Isabella, because she misinterpreted what PJ said earlier about Isabella giving Robin a message and assumed it meant she was in on it, rather than being played by PJ.
Isabella wants them to take the chance and leave, to run away and try and live the dream of a new life.
Robin tells her he likes her, but that he is Robin Hood and can't change that. Now, Isabella has much more reason to accuse him of making her believe they could have a future together at this point - and she seems to snap at his rejection. Because Robin wasn't thinking, that moment in the water was perhaps the first time he did really think about where the relationship with Isabella was going, and realised that he just wasnât capable of giving her what she wanted.
Because I do believe that he likes Isabella - and that scares the hell out of him, because there could be something stronger between them than attraction/flirtation and he is too emotionally fragile to go down that path again.
It would have been much more diplomatic for Robin to park the conversation - to simply say he canât leave anyone behind, but that he wants Isabella to come to the camp and join them, that theyâll keep her safe. Instead, he pushes Isabella away, because he realises that he canât go in any deeper, and that perhaps heâd already gone too far.
I posited at the beginning of the season that following Marian's death and his fall off the cliff it was the symbolic death of Robin the man - leaving only the legend Robin Hood, pushing through playing a role until his time is done, and I think that's borne out here. There's no heart for Robin left to give, at least the way Isabella wants it.
Kate is watching all of this happen, and she misinterprets it too, thinking that Robin is rejecting Isabella herself, rather than rejecting the idea of a life outside being an outlaw.
PJ and Guy arrive, and what options does Isabella have left? Not with Robin, who has reneged on his promise, not with Guy, who wonât give her another chance. So she desperately pivots to PJ, doing what she has to do to survive.
Itâs a really good swordfight - Robin vs Isabella, Guy vs PJ, then Guy vs Isabella, Robin vs PJ, then finally Guy vs Robin. his earlier wisdom about it being better to let Guy live in his misery evaporates; Robin really wants to kill him this time.
Kate escapes from her cell and stops him from going after Guy. But wait, before they run away, she needs to give him a kiss on the cheek first.
The water is back, and everyone in Locksley is happy (except the dead man and his family I guess). Robin reminds himself "this is what you do."
There's hugs all around. I love it when thereâs hugs all around.
Allan asks what happened with Isabella, and Robin says she won't be joining them just yet, and winks at Kate, which was probably just meant to be a nod to a shared experience, but Kate clearly takes as validation. He then looks wistfully at Ellie, Jack, and baby Robin, and when he turns back around Kate smiles at him. Again, I don't see this as romantic on Robin's part, but him recommitting himself to his gang, and walking away from the dream of family life. But Kate has her own dreams, and they're fixated on Robin.
To be honest I think they could have made more out of Robin/Isabella before they turned on each other, and I wonder if Jonas Armstrong had stuck around for another season whether they would have.
As it is weâre just past the halfway point, and are soon going to start steamrolling towards the end of the season. But not next week. Next week, we have more filler.

Soulmate AU part 6!
First âą Previous âą Here âą Next
Marinette woke up to the shrill ringing of her hotel room phone. She picked it up and accepted the polite wake up call, then struggled blearily out of bed.
Today was their trip to the botanical gardens, and a free afternoon at one of the larger malls. Sheâd already had plans to go eat with ChloĂ© and Adrien, but something in her stomach told her it wasnât going to happen.
Her akuma alarm had gone off as they talked last night, and theyâd had to sit and watch on the app as Sabine fought off her first akuma as Ladybug. Marinette had not slept well afterwards, the lingering fear overwhelming.
She did not like feeling as though she were sitting on the sidelines in her own battle.
Sheâd called her mother a few minutes after the Ladybug tracker had gone dormant, going over the fight with her, and let her know sheâd be back that evening to retrieve Tikki.
And now she had to get dressed.
ChloĂ© had set out something sheâd directed her to wear, but Marinette disregarded it. Too flashy, more her friendâs style than hers. Instead she picked up one of her dresses, a simple white dress with loose sheer short sleeves, a bateau neckline, a slim but stark black belt around the waist, and a circle skirt that fell just past her knees, the bottom third entirely covered by swirling floral embroidery.
Paired with plain black flats for comfortable walking and shorts underneath for any possible fighting, it was a perfectly simple but classy look for touring gardens and shopping.
ChloĂ© pounded around the door. âWe have to go or theyâll leave you again!â
Marinette yelped and grabbed her purse, extra snacks for the kwamis, and ran to the door. She yanked it open. âI thought we leave at nine!â
âWe do,â ChloĂ© said, examining her nails. âBut this is the fastest way to ensure youâre actually ready on time. Grab your sketchbook, letâs go get breakfast.â
Marinette rolled her eyes and slipped back into the bathroom. âLet me put on my makeup first, as you ordered yesterday, your majesty.â
âFine,â ChloĂ© drawled. âNice dress by the way.â
âYou put it at the top of my suitcase so Iâd find it immediately after refusing to wear that top, donât lie.â
Marinette carefully applied mascara and lip gloss, but nothing else. Chloé would have to fight her if she wanted anything else extra, possible soulmate meeting or not.
âI know you, Dupain-Cheng,â ChloĂ© sneered from where she settled on the bed. She was soundly ignored in favor of Marinette actually gathering up her sketchbook and pencils.
âAlright, breakfast?â
ChloĂ© stood back up with a huff. âTook you long enough.â
âItâs barely been two minutes,â Marinette slipped her key card into her purse and closed the door. âDo you think theyâll have those sad croissants again? I might have to step back into their kitchen myself.â
They did in fact have the sad croissants, which barely deserved the name of Marinette was being honest. But they ate and made it onto the bus before anyone else, and as everyone trickled on, Marinette kept a good headcount.
âWhereâs Lila?â She realized when Alya stepped on last, her new best friend nowhere to be seen.
Alya threw her a heavy glare. âLike you need to ask.â
Ah. Marinette drooped a bit. âIâll go check her room, make sure she knows weâre leaving.â
Mme. Bustier nodded absentmindedly, looking at her clipboard. Alya and a good portion of the class kept up their angry glances at her. Chloé gave her a look.
âThis is another ploy and you know it.â
âItâs my responsibility,â Marinette sighed under her breath. And then she got off the bus, checked the dining room and the lobby restrooms, before heading up the stairs to where they were staying on the eighth floor.
Predictably, Lila was not in her room. And equally predictably, the bus was not waiting for her when she returned. She sighed and brought out her phone for directions to the gardens. A text from Chloé confirmed exactly what had happened.
Eight blocks wasnât bad.
She started out, memorizing the route and the street names so she wouldnât have her head in her phone while walking through the most crime-ridden city in America.
Gotham wasnât as beautiful as Paris, she thought, with its airy light and open airspace. But it had its own dark sort of charm, with the way the buildings seemed to swallow the sky and cocoon you. Even in daytime, the darker colors made every spot a shadow, and the gothic architecture didnât do anything to dissuade you. The whole city was a warning sign to the dangers it held. But Marinette could also see the way people gathered in shop windows, walked holding tightly to each other. Like the akumas in Paris, the climate bred its own sort of solidarity in the people who lived here.
She made a right, and then a left, and kept walking, eyes on every alley despite being in the nicer part of town.
When she finally made it to the gardens, the bus wasnât there. Checking her phone again revealed that Lila, not done being a bitch for the day, had convinced Mme. Bustier to switch their time slots for the garden and shopping. And the shopping center was in the other direction from the hotel.
Almost twenty blocks away.
She sat down on a bench outside, debating with herself. Try to walk there? Get a taxi? Wait?
âYou look a bit lost.â
She raised her head and pulled in a shocked breath.
He was right in front of her.
âActually,â Marinette said calmly while the inside of her brain set fire to itself, âI donât think Iâm lost at all. Marinette Dupain-Cheng.â
She held out a challenging hand.
Between the vivid but short memory of running past him and the bad photos online, sheâd not quite remembered what he looked like. The dark hair, tanned skin, green eyes- but now she could stare, could take in the angled brows, the slope of his nose, the way his lips were pressed tightly together.
âDamian Wayne,â he said finally, reaching out and taking her hand. The electric current burst to life under his fingers, as instead of a handshake he bent and kissed her hand, like how Adrian used to flirt with her as Chat Noir.
The back of her knuckles where his lips brushed buzzed.
Ah. So it was to be an actual challenge, then.
She stood up as he released her hand, smoothing out the dress before very delicately taking his arm, and she couldnât help but be pleased at the way his lips twitched against his blank expression. He automatically compensated, extending his arm appropriately for her to take a position at his side. âI donât want to assume, but I had intended to tour the gardens. Would you join me?â
He secured her hand firmly within the crook of his arm, gentleman-like, and started leading her in. âIt would be my pleasure, Miss Dupain-Cheng.â
The point of connection was electric, but it slowly died to a low, warm hum between them, bursting momentarily whenever their shoulders brushed or she rearranged her grip as they started to walk.

Decoding Elegance: Top Wedding Neckline Designs for the Modern Bride

Disconnected Fate
a/n: hehe thank you for @velvxtparadiseâ for requesting this im so happy you did bc it was an amazing idea (their works are also so amazing you should check âem out) but ya THANK YOU ily!!
Disconnected Fate: Soulmate AU/Quirkless AU - Sero x Reader
Synopsis: Soulmates were something to be treasured. The second half of your soul, finally connecting, becoming one. But, you couldnât really rely on that if your string is cut. But will meeting someone with your same fate change that?
Word Count: 3110
Warnings: Cursing, clubbing, drinking, mentions of vomiting, kissing, old ass pervs, groping (if there are more pls let me know!!) {does include some todomomo and kamijirou}
âMina, I donât think this fits very well,â you laugh at your figure in the mirror, turning your body and running your hands down the fabric to slim it down. Mina opens to you, practically jumping at you before placing her hands at your shoulder to rotate your body; jaw dropping at the sight.
âY/n, shut the hell up. You look so fucking sexy itâs not even funny,â she chuckles, giving your ass a playful smack before tugging at the thin strap that held your dress up. The strings connected to a loose bateau neckline, showing a little cleavage, and looking down, you see the way your snug dress brings out your curves and hips. Wow- you really did look amazing, didnât you? âOkay, that should do it. Are we ready? The guys are probably waiting for us.â
Your head whips to your friend, who definitely did not tell you about boys being with you. âWhat? Boys- boys? Mina.â
She looks back at you with a shocked look, making it seem like you knew, and gave a blank, âwhat?â
âWhy didnât you tell me there would be boys? I only know like, three other people from your friend group, and Iâm not even sure they like me.â You complain, leaving the closet for the bathroom to touch up on your makeup before hearing your other bestie chime in.
âDonât worry, y/n! I like having you around very much, and Iâm sure the others will, too!â Momo says, finishing her mascara.Â
âYeah, and youâre fun to duet and play with,â Kyouka acknowledges while painting her nails.
âSee?â Mina remarks. âThey love you. Eiji has already told the others, and none of them have anything bad to say!â
âYet.â
âKyo!âÂ
âKidding~â she corrects.
âY/n, youâll be fine. Donât worry about it, theyâll love you. Just...I donât know, be yourself!â
âThanks, Mina, that actually helps a lot,â you smile sarcastically before turning your smile flat. âIâll be sure to do that once I get over the fact that Iâve never hung out with your friends before.âÂ
âOh my God, y/n. Stop stressing. Youâll be fine.â Mina assures. âAnd maybe youâll find a little special someone~â she vocalizes and points to the ring finger of your right hand.Â
Oh. Right. You thought, looking down at your hand. The red string tied to your finger that connected you to the person the universe wants you to spend the rest of your life with. The string that leads you to the person youâve always wanted, needed. Your soulmate. You had always wanted that person to come in your life, to sweep you off your feet and be with you for the rest of your days, but it was hard to believe in all that when your string was cut. Your string connected you to your soulmate, so why was yours cut? Maybe it just wasnât meant to be for you.
âY/n? Y/n.â You blink up to Minaâs fingers snapping at you.
âHuh? Oh, sorry,â you smile, âI just spaced out.â
âClassic y/n.â
âKyo.â Mina glares at Kyouka.
âWhat? Iâm just sayinâ.â
âOkay, are we all done here?â You ask while looking around at Momo, Kyouka and Mina; checking the belongings around them and seeing their small handbags.
âYup!âÂ
âMhm.â
âFinally! Okay, letâs go bitches.â Mina exclaims as Kyouka shakes her head then drags herself up, leaning her head back, an annoyed expression painted on her face.Â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
âBro, come on! Just have one- ONE- drink. Please?â Kaminari pouts, handing Sero a small glass of whiskey, the ice clinking within the glass.
âI donât know man. You guys are probably gonna get hammered tonight, and Katsuki refuses to be the DD again,â Sero shrugs back, leaning on the counter of the bar.
âYouâre damn right I ainât the DD tonight. I havenât had a good drink in a minute, and you guys are annoying as it is, so maybe a couple might make it easier to put up with you.â Bakugou groans, downing his drink, walking up to the bartender to order another one.
âHey, where are the girls? Are they still coming?â Kirishima asks curiously.
âUh,â Kaminari pulls his phone out, checking his messages, âthey are on their way.â
âWhy do they take so goddamn long? Itâs annoying.â Bakugou calls out, waiting for his drink impatiently.
âBecause they are ladies, Katsuki. They need time to get ready and stuff. You know this,â Kirishima whines, as if he had told him this multiple times.
âI know itâs stupid,â he emphasizes. He gets his drink and continues to sit at the bar, irritated.
Kirishima makes his way over to Sero, who sips his water through the black straw poking out of the glass. He looks bored, but not as if he didnât want to be there. He always liked hanging out with his friends; the more the merrier. So taking this invitation to hang out with his guy and girl friends was a must. He needed a break from all of the stress school put on him. College was a lot harder than he thought it was going to be. This was a perfect way to distract himself even for a little while and drinking water. His friends would be entertaining enough anyways.Â
âHey, Hanta, you excited for the girls to get here?â Seroâs head whips up, breaking his thoughts. Sitting up straight, he leans back with an elbow on the back of the couch. Kirishima smiles giggly, taking a seat next to him.
âOh, ya,â he says, as if it was obvious, âexcited to see how they act when they black out,â he jokes. The girls were always a handful when drunk, thankfully some had their boyfriends to take care of them, but the boyfriends were always a little drunk, too.
âHa ha, yeah, always super fun,â Kirishima replies sarcastically, knowing exactly what Sero is thinking. âWhat about you, Shoubro?â
Todoroki was sitting at the end of the table awkwardly, waiting for more company. He looked lonely, but patient. He looked up at his nickname Kirishima gave him tiredly. âHmm?â
âExcited for the girls to get here?âÂ
âI guess. They will make the night more entertaining.â See, he knows, too. The girls were known for making the night more interesting. Whether it was karaoke, body shots, dancing, or even fighting with douchebags that tried to dance with them. The night always ended on a good note either way, so whoever was staying sober sure had a sight to see.
âOh, here come the girls,â Kaminari chimes in, putting his phone in his back pocket before turning around for the door. Three girls walk in: Mina, Kyouka, and Momo. Wait- where were you? Didnât Mina say something about bringing a friend?
âHey, boys,â Mina greets, âhow are we this fine evening?â She says smoothly, strutting her way to the bar. âFour vodkas, please.â
âYou havinâ all of those? Momo and Kyo donât usually have vodka.â Kaminari laughs, a jokingly confused question.
âOh, y/n is gonna be here in a sec, and she likes vodka. A lot. So half of these are for her.â Mina smiles as she carefully grabs the shots and cautiously carries them to the table where Momo, Todoroki, Sero, Kirishima, Kaminari, and Kyouka reside. She sets them down, keeping a close eye not to spill, and starts walking over to your figure.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You head into the club, surprised the music isnât louder, while avoiding the other people around the area. You knew at places like this it got a little crowded and hectic, so you just wanted to find Mina before anything else. With your hands behind your back holding your tiny purse, you look around and see Mina walking over to you, a bright smile plastered on her face as giggles and grabs your hand, dragging you to the table where everyone (besides irritated Bakugou) resides.Â
âKatsuki get your ass over here right now!â Mina shouts from across the club, catching Bakugouâs attention. She gives him a stern look, then smiles softly when he grumbles and pushes himself off his chair, slowly walking over there, drink in hand. He plops down next to Kirishima lazily before staring at the ground. âGood. Anyway,â she inhales, clearly excited. You stand there awkwardly, wondering why it has suddenly got so hot. Something in the air was different. You didnât know what it was, but it was making you nervous. âY/n, the boys,â she points at each boy, introducing them, âTodoroki, Sero, Kaminari, Kirishima, and Bakugou.â You nod in acknowledgement, getting to know their faces to hopefully not forget later. One face caught your breath, though. Literally. Your breath hitched as you looked at him. Sero, you were pretty sure his name was. He was- beautiful. His raven black hair, his smile, his eyes, his everything- was gorgeous.Â
What the hell was this?
You stand there, frozen, staring at his handsome face and body, practically drooling. You were interrupted by Mina yapping at them to shake your hand. Each one of them sat up straight and nodded to you, said how nice it was to meet you. Then you shook hands with Sero.
No. No way.
Right as you switch your hands for him, raising your left hand, he raises his. The red on his finger caught your eye, making you stop in your tracks. Again. He also comes to a halt, both your eyes wide in shock and surprise as you gaze at each otherâs string.
This wasnât real. You were the only one you knew in your entire life who had this. You had looked it up several times for a sliver of hope, but nothing showed. In fact, everything you had searched for came up the opposite. Because of the stories and the legends and the research, you were convinced it wasnât true. You were convinced that it wasnât going to happen to you. Convinced that you were going to live your life alone. Was this man really the one for you? Was this man really the one to share your soul with? You couldn't believe it. You just couldnât.
âAhem,â Mina purposely coughs, trying to dissipate the awkwardness everyone else has to endure as you and Sero share the weirdest and yet most thrilling moment youâve had in your life. Your heart was beating so fast, you were nervous, but excited. You were surprised, but happy and sad, a little disappointed and mad, though you felt awakened at these new feelings. They felt stronger than anything youâve ever felt before, and you could tell he could feel them, too. Mina coughs again, snatching your attention. She smiles and widens her eyes while pointing her head at the other men, who are tiredly awaiting your hand. Once you suddenly realize youâve been focusing on Sero for the past 45 seconds, you breathe out an âohâ and move on to Kirishima.Â
You never stopped thinking about him, though. Throughout the entire night, after every shot you took, every song on the dance floor, Sero was still in your mind. And because of this, you took more shots. And you danced some more. You were taking a body shot off of Minaâs stomach when you notice eyes boring into yours. Swallowing the stinging alcohol you turn over to him, not finishing with the lime, almost stumbling. You want to tell him to stop looking at you, to mind his own business, but you canât separate your words, slurring an incoherent sentence.Â
âOh? Baby girl needs some help? I can help you,â the strange man, teases, laughing as he grabs your waist, grazing the side of your torso up and down, trying to drag you to the back of the club. âLet me help you, honey.â He starts guiding you to the back, using his fingers to touch the soft skin on your shoulders, your forearms, making their way down to your hips, and finally up to-
âHey, y/n, you okay?â The man gets interrupted by your hero, his voice giving you butterflies. âSorry, man. Sheâs drunk. You really shouldnât be messinâ with girls like this,â he shrugs before grabbing you by your waist and putting your arm around his shoulder, âor any girls, for that matter.â You lean on his shoulder, barely keeping up with the situation. You feel so light on your feet, but so heavy at the same time. He helps you to the tables you originally sat at before going a little more overboard than you wouldâve liked. You moan, a little overwhelmed by the noise, but once he sets you in a comfortable spot on the bench, you lean your head back, satisfied with the cold air on your face. He quickly hands you his glass of water, placing the straw in your mouth and nodding his head, whispering to take a drink. You comply, sipping his water before he takes it out and puts the cup on the tabletop for a brief moment.
Dazed, you look around the room. Your vision is blurry, but you can clearly see Momo and Todoroki making out on the other side of the booth. At least sheâs having fun. Meanwhile you get groped by an old man in a corner and probably wonât remember it the next day. Seroâs gone, you think. He was, but only a couple feet away from you. You turn your head from Momo on top of Todorokiâs lap, to Jirou leading Kaminari out of the building, then to Mina taking more shots with Kirishima, and Bakugou acting annoyed but is actually having fun. They all looked like they were having a great time. You look to your left once more and smile to yourself once you see him walking back over. He sits next to you and grabs the cup again, pushing it towards you to take a sip. And you do.Â
The next half hour was you and him in the bathroom while you throw your guts up, the nasty alcohol leaving your stomach while he holds your hair up and rubs your back. You cough everything back up, regretting taking a single drink in the first place. You feel his hands smooth over your upper back, and his grip on your hair, tightening in a circle at the back of your head. You lift your head up, turning away in embarrassment.
He smiles in return, taking his hand off your back to grab something to wipe your mouth with. âDonât worry, itâs not the first time Iâve done this. Come here,â he says softly, almost like a whisper. You turn your head towards him, still not looking at his face, but at his arm. His very attractive arms. He raises his left hand to wipe a cloth at your mouth, you catching the bright red string in sight. He notices this, and slows his motions. âYou see it, right? My string.â
You only nod in response, looking away with a blush.
âI can see it, too. Yours, I mean.â You werenât that surprised, considering what happened earlier that night when you first met him. The feeling was the same as it was before, but more intense. It was like sparks every time he touched you, like fireworks, like electricity. You could tell he felt it as well when he pulled back a little, hesitant to touch you. You knew he felt it when he pulled you away from that strange guy. Guess you were too drunk to notice.
Once he finishes up, he tells you heâs done then helps you up to get ready to leave. You were both tired of this place. Walking back out to the main room, the only people to be seen from Minaâs friend group was herself, Bakugou, and Kirishima. You could only guess where everyone else went. You two continue making your way down, asking if everyone else will be alright, or if they needed a ride. Mina responded that theyâll take a cab home, and that theyâll be okay. Thankfully Bakugou looked sober enough to understand what was going on.
âYeah, yeah, I got it. Whatever. Fuckinâ leave already.â
Sero returns with a smile, silently thanking him as he leads you to the exit. The cool air felt wonderful against your face, the breeze making you feel a lot better. You groan as your head starts to pound. Sero leads you to his car, opening the door for you and helping you in, shutting the door.Â
âHey, whatâs your address?â
You look up tiredly, ready to fall asleep right then and there. âOh, uh, building 474 on 32nd.â
He only hums in response, checking his mirrors and backing out, heading for your apartment.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
âHey, uh, thank you, Sero. I really appreciate it. I know this is not how you wanted to spend your night, even if you were sober.â You apologize, genuinely disappointed in yourself for letting yourself drink that hard.
âDonât worry about it. It was fun watching you guys for most of the night, though,â he laughs.
âOh I bet. Me and Mina got a little crazy.â
âA little?â
âShush, I know,â you chuckle, trying not to embarrass yourself further. âUm, do you want my number? Or something? Itâs just, your Minaâs friend,â We both have red cut strings, âand I want to make up for being such a slob at the party,â I want to figure out why I can see your string. He gladly agrees, putting his number in your phone. âAlso,â you interrupt his movements, causing him to look up, âI remember that weird guy from earlier, where did he go? I didnât see him for the rest of the night.â
He smiles cunningly, a smile that cocks the sides of your mouth up subconsciously. âHe was getting on my nerves, so I kicked him out of the club.â
You tilt your head in confusion. âHow?â
âI have my ways,â he says slyly, implying exactly what youâre thinking. You smile in understanding, thanking him for the help.Â
You unlock your door and wave goodbye to him, sad that he had to leave, but grateful that he didnât have to put up with you anymore. You lift your left hand in curiosity. Looking at it, you can see every thread on the piece of yarn. Every knot. Although you couldnât take it off, it looked as if you could. It was weird, knowing the fact that everyone elseâs string connected them to their soulmates, while your short piece of combined thread just drooped towards the ground. You never expected to find another person like you. Another person with a lost fate. Huh.
Part 2?? Let me know!!
