Gothic Obsessions is a post-art series rooted in my personal obsessions with the gothic universe and in my absurd, mortal existential condition shaping my absurd desires and my absurd needs. This collection embraces darkness, philosophical depth, melancholia, creativity, imperfection, alienation, existential angst and a fascination with the unknown as vital forces of an authentic reimagined subversive gothic world. Influenced by surrealism, dark fantasy, post-humanism and poststructuralism, the collection celebrates the unsettling ambiguities and non-human mysteries within ourselves—things that the unbearable superficiality of mainstream culture tends to avoid. It explores the seductive power of dark worlds, not as escapism, but as a transformative force—an allure that spellbinds through the eerie pull of the unknown beyond words. This is a tribute to complexity and a rejection of simplistic standards, where the strange and dark confronts the absurd and celebrates deviant pleasures.

"Catrinas" is a dark fantasy, surrealist, and gothic mixed media post-art series.

The Catrinas series vibrantly explores the iconic Mexican Catrina as an interstitial force between the human and the nonhuman. Created by caricaturist José Guadalupe Posada as a critique of society, La Catrina was later reimagined by Diego Rivera, solidifying her status as a beloved icon.

Each piece in this series is titled Catrina, inviting viewers to see her as a timeless archetype that embodies universal death and critiques societal norms. This repetition encourages exploration of identity as an infinite series of differences, questioning the notion of a 'fixed' self and emphasizing La Catrina as a force reflecting mortality and social commentary.

Originally mocking superficiality and class hypocrisy, La Catrina's spirit of satire endures. This series captures that essence and reimagines her in surreal, gothic worlds where the mundane merges with dark fantasy, inviting sensory exploration of difference, mortality, and cultural memory through a uniquely Mexican style.

The description of the series goes as follows: “The series is a dark fantasy and surreal-gothic mixed media post-art series that began on Halloween Eve, 2024. In gothic culture, crows are powerful and multifaceted symbols, often representing darkness, mystery, and a connection to death or the supernatural. This series playfully keeps out not crows as scarecrows do, but the dull and regulatory conceptual box labeled "Humans," especially when it comes to crowds. It celebrates the magic of animatronic "scarecrowds" and their warm-hearted, whimsical and non-human worlds, though not without a certain dose of fun, irony, satire, and dark humor. They have such big, warm hearts, but you do not want to know them when they detect a situation that is too human-centered. Beware.”
