people are really on one about midwestern politeness like what the fuck are you guys talking about. personally i grew up in a city and don't make eye contact on the subway, regular-like. not sure what you think happens in illinois

#now admittedly i've spent effectively no time in rural illinois but i have in michigan and wisconsin #and i gotta tell you. those people are also regular to hostile. normal style behavior and interactions #cannot begin to figure out what collective hallucination everyone from outside the region has developed to convince themselves #of their intrinsic superiority due to uniquely hating greetings or whatever #box opener #if you're from the midwest and also sincerely think there's a politeness difference. uh. let me know.#if you're from fucking new york or whatever you're perfectly capable of having convinced yourself of this out of sheer perversity #and i am not interested in hearing from you at this time.
