I started this fake color spread for the 1000 episodes of the anime, but you know, better late than never

Sometimes i think about this op color spread and how luffy wears a shirt with "good shoes take you to good places" written on it, and zoro wears an apron with "good shoes" written on it.

Tbh i'm pretty sure oda just wanted to be a lil bit silly(?) here for a sec, but if i reallyy think about it... even with zoro's gag: his (lack of) sense of direction, when luffy's with zoro... they always end up where they are supposed to be? (also luffy always has the most fun when he's adventuring with zoro) So i genuinely think that "the good shoes (zoro) take you (luffy) to good places" is not entirely too far of a stretch??

And also about this other color spread.. luffy wears a coat with "every drop in the ocean counts" written on it, while zoro wears a coat with "made ripple" written on it. And well... you know what they say, "a single drop though falls into an ocean, it will cause a ripple"

Idk but i just love how sometimes they are complementing each other even through their attires?? (Let it be that the words written on their clothes are connected to one other, or something like this)

Like i just think that it's truly insane how they really complement each other?? either literally speaking (like their personalities or principles in canon) or metaphorically (like with their attires, their fav things (meat+beer), and many other things) Sometimes i think they really are like two puzzle pieces that fit together perfectly... like there really can't be the captain of the strawhats without a first mate or a first mate without the captain. What would they be without each other really? like without ever meeting each other luffy's life would've been a whole lot different and vice versa

The duality of two kids who were just trying to chase their dream and having circumstances outside their control (the government) take everything they love away from them, but one choosing solitude and the other adopting every other person in a bad circumstance??? I love them. Plus they literally had couple moments from the first interaction.

A wholesome ship of a woman who feels the need to be constantly on edge trying to relax and a man who is a 110% himself from the moment we see him. the joy of frobin is the causal domesticity, in many color spreads and especially post timeskip we can see them casually enjoying the others company.

Remember when Franky was in Chopper's body in Punk Hazard and every time he spoke Robin was like "Franky. Stop talking. Do not talk while you're in Chopper's body."

Vivi was Nami's gay awakening and you cant change my mind. Nami was in love with Vivi and Vivi def had some kind of feeling for Nami. They were so close and they were more then just 'gal pals'

Chapter 1128 comments

And the Strawhats in Uncanny Valley adventures continues! Some things I noticed from previous chapter turned out to be right, some still have no conlusion, and some I might have been wrong on haha (not losing hope yet!). Since the chapter is super fresh, everything is hidden under the cut below!

Strawhats finally made it to Hogwarts haha. What a cute color picture :D the chapter's title ("RPG") together with this double spread makes me think of Hogwarts Legacy ❤ I like how tiny Zoro is just sitting on the dragon's nose XD

Nami confirmed for us that those plants don't just look fake, they *are* fake. Also, gigantified? I dunno about you all, but I feel like this is exactly the opposite case here. We saw giants who are suddenly small and huge animals/pets... could it be that Strawhats have been minimized/shrunk?? Maybe to the size of the tontattas?? So they could fit the lego set.

No wind, no sea in sight... no wonder I found this place so eerie too, haha.

This is the Land of Gods. And all Gods happen to be animals. Needle God is a hedgehog, Ear God was a rabbit, The Great Iskar is apparently the cat. While I was hoping the sun god would be the cat/lion (apparently not the case, it's some sorcerer dude instead), I was right that every god of this land is actually an animal :D

I gotta say, lovely fantasy lego set. That bridge ❤ the castle ❤ and that lovely house with a tower ❤❤❤ I also like how plants have all different shapes and structures, they're not just copy-paste of one and same plastic tree! Wish I could build a set like this :3

Welcome back to the mirror world, Luffy! Speaking of which, that chapter I took it from is called "Adventure in the Mysterious Forest". Feels really similar to the previous chapter's title "Adventure in the Mysterious Kingdom", doesn't it? They are more similar than one might think. Both times it took some time to figure out what's actually going on too.

Oooh, we literally broke through the 4th wall here, haha. This is a very neat room. Clearly someone really likes wood and sewing. Interesting that the bricks don't actually seem so small in comparison to the table. Definitely not lego-sized, more like duplo-sized. Or maybe even bigger?

The underside is still completely wrong though. It's either flat or completely hollow (but damaged bricks from chapter before were definitely not hollow inside). Which creates the question: how is it possible they stack on top of each other?!

Apparently plastic is now confirmed to exist in One Piece world. Oficially! Color me surprised :O I thought One Piece world wasn't that advanced and we definitely *never* saw plastic in this world before. But hey, it doesn't neccessarily mean that the current residents can actually *create* it. It might be remains from the Ancient Kingdom! After all we know that plastic can take up to 500 years (or even 1000 years, according to some sceptics) to break up and it never fully decomposes. This one though looks very well preserved, maybe it was stored in some safe place?

Still, if Sanji knows what plastic is, it means it's still being used, right? I still wonder if it means they can still produce it or not.

Someone who likes to watch animals and people trapped in the block world... a sick hobby... remember this bit of info, we will need it in a second.

Also, Usopp, please, there might be more possible explanations to this situation! Don't disappoint me like that!

Is it just me or is that door kinda unusual? Why the Z shape? And here comes our sun god. I guess whatever we expected, it wasn't THIS. What is that? Wendigo?? Or... Elias, is that you?!

This is Elias for all of you who never read this pretty fun series. He's a sorcerer. Curiously enough, his One Piece twin also has a sorcerer's staff. Is it a crossover? (yeah, no way, Oda doesn't do that XD but it's worth mentioning that the anime adaptation of The Ancient Magus Bride was done by the studio that is responsible for One Piece anime remake :D). But wait, before I jump too far away from One Piece, I need to show you all something. Because we MIGHT have seen that guy before once!

Here, at God Valley! He was an unnamed member of the God's Knights! Is it the very same guy? Is it his son/other family member? Or is there a whole cult of them? Does it mean we will finally learn more about God's Knights perhaps?! Also, since he's carrying a sorcerer's staff, does it mean we will finally learn more about magic in One Piece's world?!

Did he summon Strawhats' ship with magic and that's why they're now in this weird place? Did he shrunk Strawhats with his magic as well??

Also few other things to note here: 1. there are multiple, same looking doors in that corridor. I wonder what's behind others... even worse hobbies? 2. There's obviously a very human-looking face/eye behind that skull mask. 3. If it's indeed a God's Knight, that would explain Zoro's comment from before. "Someone's sick hobby". We saw another example of a sick hobby God Knights and World Nobles engaged themselves in: hunting for human "rabbits" at God Valley (and possibly many other, unfortunate places in the world). Speaking of which, I wonder if they still continue doing this kind of cruel entertainment games, even to this day? But of course it's never reported in the news so we would have no idea.

And now let's progress to my new favourite part, pointing out inconsistencies in Strawhats! Just like in my last commentary to previous chapter 1127 (leaving you with link in case anyone's interested), the Strawhats still show some odd behaviour (though it's not obvious at first glance). This time I won't focus on equipment going missing, but I do want to point out one thing:

I dunno how come people didn't notice it, but Luffy apparently does have his strawhat, it's not missing! Like yeah, in last chapter it wasn't there, but in this chapter there are a few shots when it's visible. And since we're speaking of Luffy...

Isn't this like the first time Luffy went into Gear 5 and didn't faint or get hungry or get "old" and exhausted after using it? He's completely fine this time around. Odd. This is definitely the first time it happened. Also poor cat.

"I'm still full from the rabbit"... This is not the Luffy I know xD

Nami charging people for skinship? Yeah, totally normal and to be expected... for everyone BESIDES Chopper. Allow me to refresh your memory below:

Nami had no problem bathing in front of Chopper, she even invited him indirectly to *join in*. In one of the SBS corners Oda wrote this as well:

"Chopper gets invited to bathe with the ladies a lot". Which means Nami would never charge Chopper any money for just a hug or even if Chopper saw her naked. The answer to "why" is simple really. It's because Chopper is a reindeer and doesn't have pervy thoughts about human females, that's why Nami and Robin feel safe being naked around him, hugging him etc.

So this is not exactly correct Nami's behaviour here. Now, let's look at Sanji:

Nothing seems out of order, right? Except the fact that Sanji doesn't sense women in trouble with his nose or his observation haki. It's actually thanks to this:

His sense of hearing. He hears people in distress even from far away. He hears "lady's tears falling". It's been always consistent. So Sanji is using wrong sense up there!

I feel like this scene exists only for Oda to remind viewers that Sanji should be afraid of bugs, so they can compare this moment with the one from the previous chapter, in which he claims they should eat the bees. Seems like Oda wants us to catch on to all those inconsistencies, huh.

The same here, Oda reminds us Usopp is usually very observant and sceptical, and he did not behave this way in previous chapter at all.

Also I totally agree, there's no way giants would have clothes ready at disposal in Strawhats sizes, haha. This almost counts as a 4th wall breaking comment ;)

And again, this is how Usopp usually acts: afraid, would rather take a safe route instead of risking a confrontation. Don't tell me Usopp became a brave warrior of the seas when I wasn't looking, come on. This here is the Usopp I know! Not the one from previous chapter who decided to test out if the illusion is real or not on himself!

Meanwhile, this throws me off. "I totally lost my cool"? Where's my Usopp's tall tale? Where is him trying to say he fought bravely, but the enemy did a dirty trick on him, and he lost in an unfair fight? Where's him blaming it all on Nami that he fell into a trap? Come on, Luffy asks him for a reason here, he believes in many lies of Usopp's, after all. He expects Usopp to brag, but what we get instead? An answer that sounds like truth instead. Since when is Usopp telling us truth?! That is blasphemy to his name!

Here, a comparison to Dressrosa. Usopp will always lie, no matter what. Unless he actually does some brave thing, then he will keep quiet about it and keep it to himself. But that's not the case with the cat. Also please note how Usopp blamed everything and everyone but *himself* when he leaves his friends in the dust. "Someone needs to survive to tell the tale", "This is all Franky's fault!", "I can't die over a little white lie!".

Yeah, whatever the deal is with that answer Luffy received, this is NOT the Usopp I know. Usopp telling the truth, tsk. I'm not accepting any of it!

Meanwhile we have Zoro and I still couldn't find anything wrong with him. Even though it amuses me to no end whenever he talks about "no idea which way the sea is". Zoro, Zoro, you never know where anything is anyway :D

All his comments seem accurate, including the scene with him itching for a fight, and he is very attentive, sensing any enemies/strangers nearby, as always.

I also couldn't find anything wrong with Chopper either. Nice that we found him finally! It's interesting he was the only one out of the diorama (a "temple" it is, apparently, huh) and apparently he had a collar on? None of the animals in the lego city wore any collars, so I guess that was only to prevent Chopper from running away. I wonder what the sorcerer wanted to do with him? Maybe turn him into one of the gods of the lego city? Since Chopper is an animal as well. What would his name then be? Perhaps the Antler God ;)?

I didn't mention it in the last chapter, but the "RPG" title is very fitting! It feels a bit like Strawhats are inside a game of some sort, with random enemies spawning. Ofc our pirates fit very well for the RPG heroes team in some fantasy realm :D even lego bricks and escape room mystery vibes fit the game idea!

Are those high heels btw? XD not judging him/her/they or anything lol.

Anyway, that's all for now. I still have no clue where we are exactly and I love the mystery :D the "temple" bit sure is so curious, but I won't pretend I have any clue about what's that about just yet. I'm still hoping for some trolls magic shanenigans though. Even if they're not trolls like I thought they are, the possibility of impostor Strawhats is still not dismissed ;)

I did enjoy their banters a lot in this chapter :D especially Luffy rushing to the "no one returned back from there" temple. Reminds me of that bridge in Dressrosa and "no one returned back to tell the tale" bit which scared everyone off besides Law and Robin haha.

Is the sorcerer somehow related to the "Green Fairy" alcohol? Maybe that's the origin of the "hallucinations" giants spoke about, a sorcerer kindapping chosen few who drank the alcohol, playing with them, and then returning some later when he gets bored, making it all seem like a prank? He does not look like the type who puts people back in the places they came from tho... if his comment of "I'm not letting you escape!" is anything to go by.

Can't wait for the next chapter!

 A certain smell come from the cottage in the forest, enough to be the gossip of the country as few bold birds chirped excitedly fling out and about around the only opened window giving them a view of the kitchen filled to the brim with scrumptious looking dishes and some less than admirable strangely colored pieces of dough stuck around pans and cutlery.

Amidst the mess stood the subjects of said disaster, engaged in anything but cleaning around too focused on reading a book written by both of them, even though judging by Julie’s frown the page they were trying to decipher was written by no one but by Luke himself.

“The recipe said to use chopped chocolate.”

“Are you sure ? Like chocolate will melt anyway when mixed with milk and put on the stove.”

“Ahh yes it’s written here.”

“But what chocolate do we have to use?”

“I don’t know ?”

“Damn what was I thinking when I wrote it.”

“Damned Chevalier.”

“Why him ?”

“‘Cause I am sure he was the one who distracted you from such an important endeavour for some silliness of his.”

Luke couldn't help but let out a laugh at her frown, her glare so fearsome it seemed it could have burned the page just thinking about the object of her anger.

“Sure he had  a job for me or something.” 

“And what did I tell you ? Foolish things, never giving you a break.” 

“Actually I lived off of breaks.” 

Julie brushed her hand back and forth, as to underline it didn’t matter.

“Me too, but this is not the point. The real thing is …”

“How do we find chocolate ?” 

“Yes.”

Her chartreuse eyes lit up as he continued her phrase leaning against the counter waiting for him to continue, sighing softly as the snow continued to fall not giving any hint it would have stopped any time soon.

“You don’t have to worry Julie, trust me.”

“You can’t go out in such a snowstorm.”

“Don’t worry about a thing, just wait and see.”

“What should I … Oh my gosh Luke where did you find all that ?” 

“Eheheh you see I had an idea to try this recipe with you for some time, so when we went to Hope last week I bartered some of our honey with the goods coming from the city.”

As in a dream Julie took a roughly cutted chocolate bon bon in her hands before sliding it in her mouth, a blissful smile curled her lips as the rich flavour of the white chocolate spread on her tongue.

“You have to try it.”

Holding one between her thumb and forefinger she reached Luke who happily obliged, only for his smile to turn into a smirk as he licked his upper lip, a sight that made Julie blush but before she could gaze away he took her in his arms, caging her against the counter.

Their eyes locked as he inched closer at each heartbeat, she almost thought he would have pulled back but the look of untamed desire swimming in his light green eyes told her another story, when he was so focused on her she knew nothing in the world would have made him steer away from his resolve.

Julie welcomed with open arms his passionate kiss, taking delight at the sweetness of the white chocolate meeting the tinge of bitterness of the milk one, his tongue entwined with hers as she brushed her fingers in his gingers lock moaning when his rough hands squeezed her hips pulling her closer to him.

Reluctantly Luke broke off the kiss only to lean his forehead on hers, panting heavily he gazed into Julie’s eyes lit up with excitement as a playful smile curled her soft lips. 

“I was right, you are much sweeter than chocolate.”

“Luke.” 

A blush crept on her cheeks as he brushed his thumb on her bottom lip feeling it flutter.

“It seems I am not the only one who wishes for more.”

“You could never be.”

Julie wrapped her arms around his broad chest, leaving a kiss on his heart as he tightened his arms around her, ever so careful to not break the hug, he moved to face the table where between a peck on the lips and a kiss on the cheek they finally managed to read the whole recipe, the slow lulling movements of his arms around her as they spinned around the room waiting for the chocolate to melt was enough to make her dizzy, but instead of pulling away she merely turned toward him, leaning her head on his chest as he brought her in an improvised waltz.

A soft sigh escaped his lips when he heard the liquid boiling in the pot, carefully Luke stepped away only to pour the mixture in the two cups Julie fetched from a low cabinet, following her in the drawing room as she took her place on the sofa smiling he slide behind her, a position she took advantage of leaning her head on his chest, purring in delight when he managed single handedly to pull a blankets over them, she helped him adjust it and in no time their cats jumped in, cuddling on the pillows next to them.

A sight so endearing she couldn't help but smile pleasantly sipping her chocolate, blissfully engulfed in his warm embrace.

“How is Julie ?”

Julie did not answer, instead she turned around to melt her lips on his, moaning as the feeling of his lips moving on her own, swirling his tongue around hers before entwining them together.

Reluctantly she pulled away only to murmur a few inches from his lips.

“Now it’s delicious.”

A smirk curled her lips at the sight of the rosy blush spreading on his cheeks.

“You are not fair my princess.” 

“Who ever said I was my bear ?”

She brushed her head on his chest, a gesture that coupled with her bright chartreuse eyes and playful pawning of her fingers on his chest did nothing but mesmerize him even more, like an overly affectionate cat seeking to be played with.

Unable to contain his affection he curled his arms around her, holding her close as they looked at one another with fond smiles.

-Why SaNa over LuNa and SanPu-

This post is not meant to start any fights because shipping wars are stupid but these are just my personal opinions on why I prefer Sana over Luna and Sanpu (or mostly why I don’t ship Luna and Sanpu because there isn’t a lot of Sana in here)

One main reason I don’t ship Luffy and Nami is because I could never see Luffy settling down. Him getting married or getting with someone I believe would be too restricting for him. Being bound to someone eternally just doesn’t seem like something Luffy would ever do.

The second main reason is just the simple fact of they haven’t shown romantic interest in each other at all. I am very picky when it comes to my ships and I don’t just choose two random friends, the one thing I need is for them to actually have feelings or the possibility of feelings. Even in friends to lovers stories when they were friends there was still a little bit of romantic tension, that is just something I don’t see with Luffy and Nami.

The third main reason and the smallest one is just more of my opinion but I don’t think that Oda is the kind of person to just have the male and female leads then put them together.

Ok finnaly I will be going over evidence Luna shippers use and why I don’t believe it.

In my opinion this is probably the best evidence for Luna but I think it’s just that Luffy is yk obviously king like king of pirates and Nami is like his right hand girl or like the second captian. She is also seen wearing lots of crown because she loves money, plus if you want to use the king and queen thing then we should add Zoro into the mix because he’s “The king of hell”. Overall, pretty solid evidence but I think it’s just Nami being his right hand girl or also weather queen, I just don’t think this suggest anything romantic.

That is probably the one piece of Luna evidence I don’t find completely stupid so here is some other pieces of evidence ranked from stupid to super stupid. Warning: this is a lot of me just roasting luna

Nami wearing the straw hat. This one is just simple, other people have worn the straw hat too. Not even just Roger and Shanks. Like on the crew both Usopp and Robin have worn it so it’s not specific to Nami.

Nami calling out to Luffy and that’s why he awakens. What? This one is just weird plus Luna shippers always like to bring up how their ship is done dirty in the anime yet this was MUCH different in the manga.

Nami looking at Luffy ‘lovingly’. Uhm ok. The term ‘lovingly’ without any blushing or anything is a little much. I think it’s just simply her smiling and posing while looking off lol.

Luffy and Nami looking like parents here. For how weird this one is it is surprisingly brought up a lot. This one again is simple, just Luffy being the main character and Nami’s love for kids.

And finally my least favorite evidence of all. Nami being similar to Rouge or more specifically having flowers in her hair. Huh? First, Nami is nothing like Rouge, Rouge is very calm while Nami is very hot headed. Plus for mostly every character in One Piece looking like Nami and rouge definitely not looking anything like her I don’t think that’s the best piece of evidence. This one will be shorter and more opinionated but even so in my opinion I think that luna is more likely to happen then sanpu.

There is one main reason why I don’t ship or think Sanpu is going to happen and I just think it wipes out any possibility of them being together. That one reason being Nami, Unless you have been watching/reading with your eyes closed then it is painfully obvious that Nami is Sanji’s #1. It’s honestly kinda sad watching people trying to debate this because it’s so clear. Just a few examples there is Sanji always calling Nami’s name first before any other women, Nami being the only person he uses the san honorific on, the only one he asks if she is in love with him and in fan requested cover pages he always adds Sanji simpin for Nami despite her not being in the request but he only adds other women if it is requested. Those of course are just a few examples but I even feel stupid just having to prove that. So if Oda did all to show that Nami is his #1 why would he just turn around and make him be with another women.

The second reason is just their relationship in wci didn’t feel romantic. You could also say I’m biased because around wci was when I started shipping Sanji and Nami so I was kinda just not caring about any other relationship with Sanji but still the scenes in wci didn’t feel romantic. Obviously Pudding had feelings for Sanji but unless I missed something a lot of the affection he was giving back to Pudding was him simping for her body. There wasn’t a lot of him actually complementing her for her, of course it was there but just not very much.

People also just use the fact that Pudding has feelings for Sanji as evidence of why they are going to be together and I think there has to be a little more to it then just her having feelings, I’ve also done some other things about Sanji not ‘actually’ loving other women but that’s a different topic.

-So why sana?

This one is going to be almost completely opinionated. So first I’ll just get out my opinion on ships. I love ships that have a nice amount of evidence to it so I can think about it for a long time but even if it’s canon it’s not canon until the end so I can make little theories about them and yell at my old enemies that I was right the whole time.

Sana is almost completely about the little things of the story, if you watch it not focusing that much then of course you’re not going to see why people ship them. Sana shippers love color spreads and little things in the background of the manga. Once again my preference but I LOVE THE LITTLE THINGS, sometimes of course it can be right in front of your face which again is why some of these things can feel a little out of place while they actually aren’t.

This isn’t meant to be like “If you don’t ship sana then you clearly just aren’t watching/reading hard enough” lol, shipping is all up to preference and you can ship whatever you want to ship. It is just always important to remember that shipping really isn’t that serious and even though I love them and love writing about them it’s not what One Piece is about. (Sorry for most of this just being me insulting Luna and not being about why I ship Sana lol)

OP 1088 Manga Spoilers:

First things first, I love the color spread. The East Blue designs are so nostalgic, and it's interesting to see Oda try and replicate the style he used 20 years ago. Honestly, I'm pretty hyped about the Netflix adaptation, because of the fact that Oda was so actively involved in it.

As for the actual chapter. Well. Garp seems to be going on the route of Jaguar D. Saul rather than just an outright death, which is slightly reassuring? Aokiji used Ice Time Capsule, which is a technique he only uses when he wants to capture people rather than kill them. So I get the feeling that Garp's life is secure for now, because honestly Aokiji doesn't seem like the kind of guy to straight up cold-heartedly murder his former mentor, or let anybody else do it either.

Garp's lesson is honestly pretty morally provoking, too. You have Coby giving the morally clean answer to his old man and baby dilemma, and then Garp corrects him by pointing out that you must value and nurture the future, in a way stating that the life of an old man is not as valuable as that of a young one. It really hits home at the end of the chapter, when his students put his lessons to use and abandon him on Pirate Island.

Coby beats the fraud allegations in this chapter too. His intensive dedication and training regime ON TOP of Garp's training is pretty impressive. His Honesty Impact against the hand was a powerful ass move and enough evidence to remove him from fraudwatch. He's definitely not on par with Luffy, but I believe he's at least YC1 level right now, which is not bad at all. I don't think he showed Conqueror's Haki though, because there was no lightning. He seems to be the inheritor of Garp's will, both in his Armament Haki centric fighting style and his goals and vision.

The chapter ends with Marine ships sailing to Egghead Island, where Luffy and the Straw Hats are currently based, leading up to an obvious conflict between Emperor Luffy and the Marines on the futuristic island. What do y'all think? Will Garp be killed, handed over, or preserved? Maybe we even get a Garp seraphim? How do y'all think the battle between Luffy and the Marines will unfold?

I love thinking about her and I STILL HAVE SOME TIME BEFORE IT'S NOT HER BIRTHDAY!

These are random because I'm trying to remember the ones I've talked to my friends about. I've never actually listed out headcanons before LOL

I think that (starting in Skypiea after Sanji gave her that flower) she presses flowers/flora from all the different islands they visit, much like how Nami keeps a detailed log.

My friends and I have joked that she texts like she is writing a very formal email and I just think that would be very charming. (Like she starts a casual text with a "Dear Franky," and everyone just goes along with it because it's endearing).

Okay this one is anime only, but I like to think that she started drawing after she met and grew attached to Soran from her time in Tequila Wolf since we don't see her draw until after the time skip. I think she drew some of the crew when she was missing them a lot during their two year separation. Now she keeps doing it because it's a fun little hobby! She and Usopp bond over it like they do gardening!

You can find my ramblings and theories for Robin and Luffy being siblings here. I just think they spend a lot of time together in their down time, she's very endeared by her peculiar little captain. He lets her steal his hat sometimes or she will absolutely play keep-away with it to keep him entertained if necessary for the crew.

Less of a headcanon and more just something that's true, but I think about it a lot, is that she absolutely still has bangs after the timeskip they are just grown out/pulled back (she has them sideswept in several color spreads and in Dressrosa). The headcanon part is that I think she did this to try and change up her appearance to avoid immediate detection (her bangs are prominent in both of her pre-ts wanted posters), though this is rendered moot upon her post-Dressrosa poster.

I think she absolutely still Dereshishishishi's as an adult when she's distressed, we just don't see it because the Straw Hats bring her so much genuine joy she's rarely down for long. I imagine she has bad days that we don't see, though.

Supposing Frobin is real and true like it is, I think that she gravitates toward him because he is so good at genuinely making her laugh (on top of his kindness and all of his many positive qualities) and he reminds her of Saul. Even in a non-shipping sense, I think that he and the other Straw Hats embody that "laughing brings you joy" that Saul was all about, and that's neat (again not really a HC, just a thing I like).

I think after Long Ring Long Land she enjoys skating and I think that they should go to a roller rink, it would be fun. I'm right about this one and Oda/Toei should listen to me.

IF there was an in-universe equivalent of The Lord of the Rings, she would be the biggest fan and know every piece of lore possible. Chopper has absolutely heard everything about it at least twice - happily!

Brook is to Robin as Usopp is to Nami, except Robin goes really hard on the "playful meanness." Brook is fine with this, I imagine. They are simply besties.

She's into the drama. She loves to hear the gossip, but is rarely involved. Yes she will eavesdrop. Yes she will stir the pot.

She pranks with the best of them, she's just harder to catch!

Robin likes to thrift shop rather than buy brand name stuff because she likes the idea that the clothes and things have a story. This will explain her many eclectic fashion choices, but she still manages to slay. Nami prefers the name brand stuff because now they can afford it. She and Nami have a lot of fun dressing the crew.

A lot of characters go to her when they're sad (to which she appreciates feeling needed/wanted) and she is like the best at comforting since it's something she had to do for herself for so long! Alternatively, she could also be really bad at it and is too morbid for some. It depends on the situation.

She is very touch starved - not in a romantic or sensual sense either, she just very much relies on touch based on the nature of her powers (she can feel everything, but rarely is it like. a fun time). So she likes genuine contact from others (hugs, handshakes, high fives, sitting close, etc) but does not know how to initiate a lot of the time so she ends up not always getting the affection she craves BUT as she opens up more I imagine she'd be able to communicate that with others (especially Franky!)

Confirmed secret theater kid. Absolutely can sing and will sing, but it's rare. Brook and her often duet.

I still don't personally think that Yamato is trans man.

As mush as everyone loves that headcanon - it's still just a popular headcanon.

1. Vivre Card. It officially made with Oda's help. Why on earth he would misgender own trans character? If we exclude the possibility of Oda being transphobic (and he could be I think tbh) it's strange that Yamato doesn't have a single word about her actually thinking she's a man.

"vivre card not canon" Why? No, really, why? Where did you even got that? Their whole point to give you canon info ab character that you may not knew or that isn't super important but still relevant - height, favourite food, some silly fact, etc. why they exist if they aren't canon? Just to shit on merch?

Such a stupid and strange idea to misgender own trans character, don't you think?

2. Yamato's own literal words.

She is calling herself a man, because ODEN was a man. It's a very important thing here - she doesn't say she's s man in any other way that you would probably think - she doesn't say she was born in other body or literally any other way to say she is a man. No.

Oden was a man, so she is too.

If Oden was a rock she would call herself rock too.

She doesn't have any gender conscious about herself in any ways. It also the explanation on why she uses masculine pronouns. Pronouns in Japanese work a bit different also - you can use male ones while being a woman, like many tomboys can do (the easiest example - Haruka from Sailor Moon. She uses male pronouns but aren't thinking ab herself as a male, and even in op we have Big Mom who uses Ore but still is obviously woman)

3. Yamato's lack of reaction at being misgendered.

I don't really think you would be comfortable with getting your gender wrong - yet she doesn't cares! When Sanji calls her Yamato-chan and when Brook and Sanji are simping for her she doesn't react at all, when being called Oni Princess she's rather sad about being treated like Kaido's child than being misgendered, etc.

5. Oda's drawings.

"yes, i have a trans character, I'll draw him in oiran clothes and on color spread that is dedicated to One Piece women. And also call her daughter of Kaido when introducing him." Like damn. Don't deny the facts at least here - Oda himself doesn't treat her like a man in any way. Why would i care about calling Yamato a man when even author doesn't fucking think so and don't care??

...And the bath scene.

It all makes it up to me that either Oda will have to change the way he treats Yamato and make it more obvious that she's a female or start treating her like a male. Without any actual jokes. Please.

One Piece Chapter 1091 - Initial Thoughts

Well I'm ill, caught a cold over the weekend where I went to Wembley. But One Piece has shown up early on TCB so you best believe I'm gonna review it!

These breaks are frustrating, but with Live Action out tomorrow hopefully we will get consistency soon.

Usopp sees the carnage below, but Vegapunk is surprised that the Navy is attacking given how Sentomaru supersedes their authority

The crew of course do not have fond memories of Kizaru

Vegapunk is sympathetic to Sentomaru who is standing his ground

Sentomaru's strongest defense alas is not enough to repel the admiral

Kizaru does the Katakuri trick to avoid the slice of Sentomaru's axe (since Ryou would mean he knows armament haki)

Mini Sentomaru flashback though, he was a kid looking for a job to spend on Onigiri, he beat up some bears before Kizaru and Vegapunk could get to them

Kizaru at least has an ounce of sentiment for sentomaru sent there to sent sent sent

But that doesn't stop him from sending Sentomaru back to the ground light and crispy

With Sentomaru KO'd again, Kizaru's authority chip commands the Mark 3s to destroy the Sea Monsters, so that advantage didn't last

Question though: Saturn outranks all authority, why not just lead with that? Since he was a little irked with losing the sea monsters

Despite lamenting Sentomaru's loss, the Punks continue to hack, knowing that Kizaru will break in momentarily

Kizaru's entry sets off the alarm, but the Vega Force 01 is still carrying the Sunny to the agreed position

Hurrying will do nothing against the speed of light

In the chaos Lucci makes his move, but Stussy takes the blow for Vegapunk

Sanji jumps into action using Nami's bubble gun to trap Kaku, who was kept out the loop

Zoro meanwhile steps up to face the CP0 agent

Lucci seems pretty confident with Kizaru flanking him, but Zoro reminds him not to underestimate them

Kizaru makes it to the Vega Force, having been in search of the Sunny

But he's met with a strike by Luffy, he got his arms up but that means he was worried about it

'We're 100 times stronger than we were 2 years ago' Shakky did say that Rayleigh was 100 times stronger, so are we generalizing or are we saying Rayleigh-tier now Oda?

Another break -_- Live Action is tomorrow so there better be no more for a while after this

We're getting to the fisticuffs part of the arc now; Lucci vs Zoro and Luffy vs Kizaru. To his credit, Sentomaru lasted longer than most but the conclusion was always foregone. I doubt he or Stussy are dead though, just slightly injured so we don't have to concern them in combat.

Not sure if we'll stick with the two fights mind you, part of me wonders if Kaku's allegiances will be challenged, but something does still have to give with the remaining crewmates combat-wise (I do also really want to see Usopp humiliate Lucci in a callback to him challenging him at Enies Lobby). I can only guess that the Seraphim may be unleashed again, because the barrier will stop the vice admirals from reaching the dome, but I also expected that we'd go back and see all the stuff that happened with the Seraphim and Kuma memories the previous night - and still do - so it's still up in the air.

I'm still not allowing myself to be excited for the One Piece live action but after having seen the trailer a few more times I'll say that as long as the pacing is good (bad pacing trips me up so hard) and the show captures the essence and spirit of the story, I won't hate it.

I just hope the rest of the writing is better than that "Not a crew" scene, I'm still not very happy with that. Sure, a lot of the comedy from the manga and the anime doesn't translate very well into live action but they can still bring out the silly parts without relying on the same kind of 0815 quips that are used by every action adventure movie since the beginning of the MCU.

Something I didn't learn until today is that Oda himself was heavily involved in the adaptation, including greenlighting the cast, which I guess gives me a little more confidence that the show won't be a trashfire.

I really like the cast (and now that I know Oda gave his okay for Nami's and Sanji's actors I'm putting my earlier reservations to the side), I like their energy, I highly appreciate their love for the One Piece universe, so I have a feeling they may be my favorite part of the adaptation.

Something that's also been pointed out is that the characters are wearing a lot of outfits from color spreads from the manga, which is really cool, I like that a lot, it gives them realistic costume changes while still staying true to their designs.

As for some of the criticism I've seen float around the tag:

"WHY ISN'T LUFFY WEARING FLIP FLOPS????" I was a little put off by that at first, too, but I honestly doubt that we'll pay a whole lot of attention to his feet when we watch the actual show (and who knows, maybe they'll show up at some point)

"WHERE IS SANJI'S CURLY BROW??????" This is probably completely a Me thing but when I watched the trailer for the first time I didn't even notice that because I was honestly much more worried about his hair before the trailer was released; I totally get that him not having the curly brow is a little disappointing and leaves out some of the greatest bickering between him and Zoro, but it's still possible that they'll bring it into the show some other way, even if he doesn't have it all the time; same goes for the smoking (which, given that it's an American production that is aimed at kids, isn't really surprising, since smoking/tobacco is its own content warning on American TV), we might see him light a cigarette here and there but we were never gonna see him chainsmoke the way he does in the manga/anime

"WHAT ABOUT USOPP'S NOSE????" Okay, let's be real here, had they given Usopp his Pinocchio nose through either CGI or VFX make-up, everyone probably would have complained how stupid and cringe it looks translated into live action; Jacob has a very expressive face that more than makes up for the lack of the Pinocchio nose in my opinion, but maybe that's just me (Jacob was also the first cast member I was fully on board with from the start, so maybe I'm biased, but that's how I feel)

"BUGGY LOOKS TOO SCARY" Guys, we only got one shot of him and we don't know the context for it; maybe this is his introductory shot, maybe this is a special dramatic shot, maybe this is how other people describe him, we just don't know; just wait until the show is out

"THE FOOTAGE IS TOO YELLOW" While it is likely that this is the final color grading, it's also possible that the final color grading wasn't done by the time they put the trailer together (like, some of the shots look like the yellow isn't as strong), they still have more than two months until release, they could still be doing final tweaks until then; and maybe they wanted to emphasize Luffy's sunny personality, who knows, the cinematography probably looks different in emotional scenes

Also, and this is only of interest to my fellow Germans, the German anime voice cast is dubbing the show, so I might actually watch it both in the original version and with the German voices because the nostalgia is reaaaaaaaallll

Be still, my heart, so you won't be disappointed, but be hopeful, be so so hopeful 🥲

Hi, I am currently rereading One Piece and posting notes about the chapters. Feel free to share your own thoughts.

WARNING: I'm caught up so there will be SPOILERS for future chapters and plot developments.

Volume 1 Romance Dawn Chapter 1 Romance Dawn [Romance Dawn Arc]

I love the volume cover and the color spread for this chapter (no idea how to rank them in general, I have some preferences, but covers devoted to mainly straw hats are usually at the top for me).

Roger's execution: I'm not gonna speculate about his last words since VIZ translation can be different from the original, but I wonder with all the flooding and rising water levels happening during Egghead Arc if he deliberately encouraged people to sail the seas and explore the world. I mean it works either way, but still something to consider.

Does Shanks' ship figurehead end up meaning something more than just a cool design?

I love the foreshadowing — Luffy's poor swimming skills, the shirt design, also him thinking about naming his finishing moves/attacks.

In the panel where Shanks says that they will leave Windmill Village for good pretty soon Makino is shown to be concerned. Before I thought she was feeling sad for Luffy, but now that she has a kid of her own in the story I wonder if she didn't want Shanks to sail away too. Just speculating, but maybe Shanks is the father after all.

I love how Luffy eating the devil fruit is shown in small panels as if it's no big deal. I heard some theories that Shanks had planned it all along, but idk he looks pretty shocked and pissed on these panels for that to be true. Luffy just loves to eat that much.

Woop Slap is introduced and I'm so here for it. Old geezer gag is going strong.

I wonder if Woop Slap, Makino and other villagers know about Luffy's family at this point in the story?

The panel where Shanks shows up behind Makino and Woop Slap is menacing. I love when Oda uses shading like that.

Shanks' pirate code is introduced for the reader and for Luffy who will replicate it later.

So how did Shanks get to the point where Higuma kicked Luffy off the boat? I guess we still don't know how some of his powers work, or maybe the ship was just off screen for dramatic purpose.

In hindsight Shanks' sacrifice means a lot more. Also first use of Haki by Shanks against the Sea Monster.

The first King of the Pirates claim by Luffy. Also the way Red Hair Pirates look back at him fondly.

And of course the HAT. I feel like with each volume it's value in the story only goes up, and this is a great beginning.

So before his departure Shanks says to Beckman that Luffy acts just like him when he was little. And we still don't know too much about his backstory. I wonder if before Roger there was someone who inspired Shanks?

Luffy mentions his plan for 10-men crew. And we still don't know the final member.

All in all — fantastic beginning. A lot of groundwork is laid for what's to come and some mysteries are still not solved.
