i do think it's funny how different javier and damian are treated by the narrative both in their respective novels and when they're together in cpsm. like. you can tell. the world had a favorite and it has refused to change its mind despite having a brand new protagonist to torture.
the moment javier appears in cpsm you can basically tell that he's on a whole different level than any other character we've met before. just his mere presence is enough to put damian on edge because of how intimidating he is even tho he does nothing to indicate he means them harm. i would compare it to being in the same room as tiger but truthfully i don't think that even begins to make it justice.
rakiel himself is shaken by how powerful of a gravitas he has even tho he literally has a protagonist of his own right beside him! compare that to when he meets damian for the first time. yeah he's impressed and he does compare it to experiencing love for the first time after reading about it, but he doesn't really go on and on about him the way, idk, someone else did with javier in tged. or like he himself does when he meets javier.
and this is especially funny when you remember the difference between what damian and javier are respectively.
like. damian is a specially crafted vessel meant to contain one of the most powerful beings in the universe and allow him to unleash his full power so he can destroy the mortal realm and climb higher until he reaches the absolute. he's as special and unique as one can get.
and javier is like. some guy. like yes he's perfect and amazing and everything wonderful but that's because that's the way he was originally written to be, that's the way he as a character was meant to exist. but there is,,, nothing really inherently remarkable or special about him. he's not of divine origin, he's not a dragon, he's not made for a higher purpose. he's just. a guy. he just happens to be very, very talented in everything he does.
and yet. the narrative hits you over and over in the head with how javier is the most specialest boy to ever exist. and damian is there too <3
i dunno i find it really funny alsjajsk
