Oddwashing basically just my take on an, 'Everyone Lives' AU

The Tulpar crew all get to work through their problems, fight back against an oppressive capitalist regime that's oppressing people like P.E. did to them, and most importantly, they get to be happy.

...except for Jimmy, of course

interesting concept....

I think everyone but Jimmy would believe in Aliens to an extent and have a weird story about something that happened while in space that they link back or like a UFO or alien.

Curly talks about blips on the radar that move to fast or irrationally to be regular space debris. Too uniform or too fluidly, they disappear too fast too. Anya talks about weird flickering and medbay or like odd flashes on the day screen that are too direct and specific to be simple glitches. Swansea talks about random mechanics on the ship giving out in odd ways, he’s been working for years and things don’t work like that, maybe even a gear or sprocket found after landing he swears is to foreign to be manmade but P.E always confiscates it. Daisuke always wanted to believe and takes the experiences of his very serious superiors, especially Swansea, as proof and wonders if the Tulpar is like a magnet for extraterrestrial happenings.

Jimmy thinks it’s stupid because why would aliens waste time doing all those little things and not just like abduct them? His ass obviously sees one and no one believes him cause they think they just being a jerk and messing with them, even Curly.

what’s oddwashing about?

It's a crossover between Mouthwashing and the videogame series, Oddworld.

Basically, everything up to the point right before any k*lls herself stays the same except all the cryopods are still working, and eventually after running out of provisions the crew opts to use them (Jimmy takes Curly into the same pod as him ugh), and at some point, while they're in cryostasis the asteroid the Tulpar crashed into either gets sucked up by a wormhole or black hole and ends being spat back out somewhere far across the galaxy and eons in the future where it crashes into Oddworld.

sometime later while traveling across Mudos, Abe, Alf, Toby, and Mingot come across the wrecked Tulpar and decide to investigate.

While exploring the crashed spacecraft, they come across the cryopods and discover that there are people inside them. And not only that; They're humans.

Long story short; they free them and the crew ends up traveling with them.

How the Tulpar crew change throughout their time on Oddworld (For better or for worse)

Anya: Gets to come out of her shell

Daisuke: Becomes more confident

Swansea: Softens up significantly

Curly: Regains his mobility and stops being co-dependent and (excuse my phrasing but idk how else to word this) grows a spine

Jimmy: Becomes more conniving and manipulative

A Compilation of The Many L's Jimmy has Taken Since he Stepped Foot on Oddworld:

Got sick from drinking unfiltered water and ended up soiling his underwear

Got a rock thrown at him by Mingot after she caught him attacking Abe for the first time

Got Seabear'd by a Scrab

Got his nose broken by Mingot in a "cargo-related accident" (aka Mingot threw a crate at him because he was being lazy and threatened to 'kick her ass')

Gets kicked in the head by Mingot when she catches him attacking Abe Again

Gets roasted by Mingot endlessly

Failed to cook a fish and started a big fire ("Jimmy started the fire!"-Mingot)

Got distracted and left a cooking pot over a fire and it got a hole burned through the bottom

His "apology" is rejected by Curly

Anya stops being scared of him

Mingot beats his ass regularly

Fails to hold back a cough while trying to get information from a shop owner (and gets mocked by Mingot in the process)

Abe has to physically stop him from going up to Glukkon exec's office

Constantly told some variation of "Shut up, Jimmy!"

Gets beaten to a bloody pulp by Mingot after stupidly challenging her to a fight

Is tied up by Abe and Mingot

His crewmates grow emotionally and stop having anything to do with him

Gets locked in the train's end car

Gets knocked down after a single punch from Abe

MY Curly is miserable because he's seen the worst of humanity and had his worldview completely shattered and burned down.

We are not the same.

God yes its so fantastic constantly seeing people write post-crash Curly being constantly fucking miserable because he's an amputee. Constantly so fucking tormented because hes UGLY and you don't see a human when you look at him you only see a thing, a creature, an it because whatever he had before made him human, and now that he's lost that, he's nothing more than a medical, psychological, physical and emotional burden on everyone around him. Fantastic Job everyone! Hit the showers!

Oddwashing AU: summary

In this, none of the cryopods are damaged when the Tulpar crashes.

Everything is the same as in the game up to about the 3-4 month point, where instead of everything getting jimmied, the crew gets into the cryopods in hopes of eventually being found and rescued at some point.

(It's implied that either Jimmy was supposed to stay behind and put Curly in the pod, or he was meant to put Curly out of his misery but instead Jimmy takes him into the cryopod with him)

At some point while the crew is in stasis, the asteroid the tulpar is stranded on gets sucked into some kind of black hole/wormhole, and spat out eons in the future and far across the galaxy. At an unknown point in time, the asteroid crashes onto a planet known as Oddworld.

One day, while making their way across the badlands of East Mudos, Abe, Mingot, Toby and Alf come across the crashed Tulpar in a crater in the middle of the landscape.

They make their way inside the wrecked ship and after some exploring and investigating, they come across the cryopods and discover that there are humans inside. (a rarity on Oddworld, with Mingot and her father being the only still living humans known to still exist)

After some back and forth, they decide to open the pods and let the crew out. Mingot is then forced to awkwardly explain to a bunch of grown-ups that they are now stranded on an alien planet and they need to come with her and some of the planet's natives if they want to survive because everything on the planet wants to either kill them, eat them, or both.

So, the Tulpar crew must learn to survive and adapt to their new environment while also overcoming their own flaws and demons in order to help their new alien companions free their people and land from the control of an oppressive capitalist regime not unlike the one the five humans were once oppressed by, as well finally freeing themselves in the process.

...Except for Jimmy.

He somehow gets worse.

OOC: I've kinda hit a wall with Tulpar crew's designs in Oddwashing 😅

what I've gotten so far:

Swansea grows a beard

Anya ties up her hair in a ponytail (which later gets cut off)

They all gain some muscles from all the running around and fighting

Daisuke has a bandana wrapped around his head (ala Ryu from Street Fighter)

Jimmy's hair grows out

Curly gets a variety of prosthetics over the course of the story

Also Curly's skin heals up

And he wears a variety of masks

They either customize the P.E. uniforms (tying them around their waist, tearing off the sleeves, rolling the pants or sleeves up etc.) or ditch 'em all together and wear new clothes

Aaaaaand that's basically it...😞

I was gonna put this on my main blog but I thought it might get less attention so I'm putting this here

I've been brainstorming a Mouthwashing x Oddworld au where the Tulpar still crashes but none of the cryopods are damaged so the crew get inside them, and somehow, the Tulpar ends up crashed on Oddworld and it's found by Abe, Mingot, and the freed mudokons and now they're stuck traveling together.

I call it "Oddwashing"

I imagine it's being sung from the perspective of the Tulpar crew (minus Jimmy) as they fight back against the oppressive capitalist regime of Oddworld. Something they were unable to do back Earth.

They can finally fight back against a system not unlike the one they were once controlled by and help others who are being oppressed like they were while taking back their agency and lives back...
