HibaFumi
From left to right: Yamanashi Hibari—Funada Kiito—Futagawa Fumi—Kondo Misaka
Unassuming little Fumi is one of the most aggressively shipped characters in Assault Lily. She has:
Relatively popular and serious ships with Kaede, Araya, and Hibari
Niche ships with Kureha and Mai
Crack ships with Kiito, Riri, Shenlin, and Yuzuriha
Fumi is little, by the way. In the anime/game canon she's 138cm tall and the tiniest character in AL.
One of those serious ships, Hibari, might come as a surprise. Who even is this Hibari? In this post I'll be telling you all about her and her relationship with Fumi.
Hibari's Obscure Origins
I've talked about it in my other posts, but Assault Lily has a lot of lore, and characters, that we only know about from tweets by the official Q&A account. For three years, Hibari was almost one of these. In fact, the entire legion she's a member of—Legion Sanngriðr—was mostly confined to Twitter until recently.
Originally, this wasn't supposed to be the case. Legion Sanngriðr was introduced at the Wonder Festival 2019 convention as the feature characters in a new project known as "Mashima Moyu's Arsenal Workshop." But then people began to say that one of the character designs, Kondo Misaka's, was plagiarized from a certain character in a phone game by another company. (Having seen both designs, I think they were right.)
The other legion members (including Hibari) wore the same outfit as Misaka, so they were tainted too. Legion Sanngriðr was quietly removed from the spotlight, and "Mashima Moyu's Arsenal Workshop" was reworked to focus on Funada Kiito's Legion Hronesnæsse instead.
But Sanngriðr didn't cease to exist. Several characters from it made brief appearances in Assault Lily Bouquet, dressed in the standard Yurigaoka uniform so there were no issues with their designs.
Yamanashi Hibari (on the far left) in Assault Lily Bouquet episode 8
Following the end of Bouquet, the official Q&A account (which roleplays as Fumi answering questions) talked about Hibari and the members of Sanngriðr now and then. Despite having never appeared in any AL story in an important way, they gathered a few fans, especially when people noticed Fumi sounded like she had an awfully close relationship with Hibari. More on that later.
For now, let's jump ahead a few years to 2023. Near the beginning of the year, Kondo Misaka unexpectedly got a brand new, non-plagiarized character design as part of her starring role in the Assault Lily Wunder novel. Later, they announced Sanngriðr would have a stage play made about them, and as part of this several other characters also got new designs, including Hibari.
The Magician of Sanngriðr
Despite her name, Yamanashi Hibari is not from Yamanashi Prefecture. She was born in Kamakura and her family actually lives close to Fumi's family. She's a second-year Lily at Yurigaoka.
As a first-year Lily, she was a member of Legion Svanhvít, a legion that no longer exists. As part of that legion, and additionally when she fought in the Odaiba Counteroffensive, she gained a reputation as a brilliant commander and is now known as "The Magician of Sanngriðr." Her Rare Skill is Regista, making her naturally suited for command roles.
Hibari also has a unique ability which is rumored to be a subskill version of Z, allowing her to rewind time briefly.
She was involved in one of the very few occasions at Yurigaoka in which a Schutzengel's Oath was annulled, and now has an ex-Schutzengel, Yanagisawa Ayako in Legion Vingólf. Some people have a low opinion of her due to this incident, but Fumi thinks that while Hibari wasn't entirely blameless, it's unfair of people to scorn her to this day for the oath dissolving.
Hibari does not have a Schild yet, though as a famous Lily she's under pressure to choose one.
HibaFumi
According to Fumi, Hibari first spoke to her at the Yurigaoka entrance ceremony, saying "Hey! You're Futagawa Fumi from the rumors, right?" This is actually very odd because Fumi wasn't a Lily until she entered Yurigaoka and it's not clear what rumors there would be about her. Unfortunately, Fumi hasn't provided further details.
She initially called Fumi "Fumi-san", respectfully, but now calls her just "Fumi" as one might address a close friend.
Since meeting each other, the two Lilies have:
Gone out for lunch together
Gone shopping for art supplies together
Gone camping together
Chatted about battle tactics and notable Lilies
Chatted about their favorite characters in "that anime about talking trains"
Stayed overnight in each other's rooms
Stayed up all night talking about battle tactics together
Gone to visit the shrine together on New Year's Day
Gone to a Lily-themed cafe together, where Hibari ordered the "Schutzengel parfait", saying she felt like parfait
Hibari has invited Fumi to go see an art exhibition and to the zoo with her
Fumi gave Hibari a birthday present, a handmade keyholder with an otter design
Hibari gave Fumi a birthday present, a necklace with a chinchilla design. (Fumi didn't say one way or the other, but since handicrafts are Hibari's hobby, the necklace was probably also handmade.)
Fumi gave Hibari Valentine's Day chocolate
Acquaintances of Hibari's often tease her that she should propose the Schutzengel's Oath to a certain somebody soon. Fumi, for her part, would very much like to have a Schutzengel, but wants it to happen in the traditional Yurigaoka fashion where the older girl proposes to the younger one.
Hibari's favorite flower is the linaria, which in flower language means "Please notice this love."

Don't mind me just rambling today
💌 Updates!!! I finally posted chapter 8 of the Dazai x reader so go read that if you've been waiting for it! Next will probably be the Atsushi fic but no promises.
I wanted to talk about "Fake It Till You Make It" Since it's been a hot minute, I HAVE NOT ABANDONED IT!
💌 Genuinely the reason I've delayed chapter 14 for so long is because I've been in the process of getting engaged for a while now. Well that and being in and out of the hospital but you know not the point
I started writing FITYMI because my significant other and I were planning on getting engaged but then Covid happened, and we've been trying to figure out rings, where he wants to propose and all of that good stuff but life stops for no one and it keeps getting pushed back *sigh* I shit you not, we went to Japan in summer of 2019 and he was going to propose in Odaiba, but the day we planned on going there an earthquake! Soooooo he decided it wasn't the right time to propose and has been trying ever since but a calamity of errors keeps happening.
LITTERALLY we just finalized the dates to go in August last Friday, but yesterday his boss contacted him saying the project he's a part of has been pushed back and now we can't go...again...
Honestly it's kinda hilarious I'm not gonna lie because of how absurd that it's happened more than once but it does mean the same intense motivation an inspiration that writing FITYMI requires has been nonexistent as of late. I have 1/4th of it written so far and it's been like pulling teeth.
So yeah not abandoned but will be a little longer for chapter 14, and like I'm aware I don't need to apologize but FITYMI is my baby and I want to publish it as a novel later down the road since it's barely a fanfic at this point

Before the Fall (Digimon Prompt Fic)
Characters: 01 Digidestined (minus TK) | Setting: Summer Camp
Rated: T
Prompt: Serpent. Has your character encountered a snake? Or perhaps they’re as vindictive and cunning as one? Are they shedding their old skin and becoming a new person, or have they somehow transformed into a reptile? [ Word Goal: 300 | Actual: 333 words ]
Note: Realized that I haven’t posted all of the *Candies* on Tumblr - right on time, too. Happy Odaiba Day!
Tai, Matt, and Izzy walked from their cabin to the mess hall for dinner. They had just gotten back from hiking, climbing a few rocks and taking in the lush scenery of the forest and river streams.
“That was fun, wasn’t it?” Tai asked, walking with his palms lifted against the back of his head.
“It was alright, I guess,” said Matt.
They slowed their pace as they noticed Sora and Joe standing in front of the door to the girls’ cabin, which was closed shut.
“What’s up?” asked Tai, who heard sobbing from the other side of the door.
“It’s Mimi,” Joe replied. “She locked herself in her room since we all got back from the hike.”
“She didn’t want to go in the first place, but me and the others convinced her,” said Sora. Then, she turned back to face the door. “Will you at least let me in?”
“I heard someone else with you!” Mimi wailed from the other side.
“It’s just us,” said Tai. “We won’t bite.”
“Don’t say that!” Sora hissed suddenly, with Matt and Tai taken aback. Her tone changed to a calm after. “Come on, Mimi. It’ll be alright. It’s just the four of us.”
Mimi’s tear-stained face appeared through the crack.
“Fine,” she said, sniffling, her face free of tears but her eyes were still swollen. Reluctantly, she revealed to them what happened to her by the stream.
“You saw a snake?!” Tai said with his eyes lit up. “Lucky!”
“Not lucky!” Mimi cried, covering her face in her hands. “I hate snakes! I ran away as fast as I could!”
“You’re bound to see snakes out here,” said Izzy, crossing his arms, feeling a chill. “It could be worse. At least you aren’t stuck on some island with monsters that are bigger than snakes.”
“Not helping,” said Sora, narrowing her eyes.
“You’ve got too much of an imagination there, Izzy,” said Tai, then looking up, wondering why dark clouds appeared all of a sudden.

Ever since I first watched Digimon as a 1st grader in China, I've always wanted to go to the Digital World, meet my own partner digimon, go on exciting adventures with my friends, and save the world. Now that I'm 23, I've (somewhat) resigned myself to the fact that I'll never be "chosen"...but that doesn't mean I can't do my own choosing!
This summer, right before medical school starts, I finally went to Japan with my boyfriend, and visited the landscapes that I had up until now only seen in my dreams. Wandering through Hikarigaoka, Odaiba, Shinjuku, and Shibuya, it felt as if my dreams had finally came true, and I was a little kid again - full of wonder, excitement, and hope. It felt like I was able to recapture some precious things I had lost along the way...things that I will hold onto dearly from now on so that I'll never lose them again.
I wanted to upload this on August 1, 2019 - the 20th Odaiba Memorial Day - but seems like I was a bit late, haha - and even later to make a Tumblr post, since I rarely use it and forgot I had this platform until just now! Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy this small dedication to our childhood, and that you all had a wonderful Odaiba Memorial Day.
Digital Gate, open! Chosen Children of the world, let's go!
(By the way, I made the digivice out of a bubblegum case when I was 9 years old, and my dad made me the crests of light and hope with a 3D printer for a Christmas present a few years ago! Also special thanks to my boyfriend for filming - albeit reluctantly - and carrying my Digimon plushies around, haha.)

Happy Odaiba day from my first and current Digipartners and Digifakes, Felisharkmon and Fuudomon!
I keep forgetting about this day until it comes. But that also happens to me with any special day so no surprise here. However, this year I wanted to do something special yet simple, and since it's also the 20th anniversary, what a better year than this one.
Felisharkmon was my first Digifake back when I was a lot younger and was already into Digimon. They were born because of Tamers. Seeing how the main character could have as Digimon partner his Digifake inspired me to create my own. And, of course, it would be a mixture of my two favourite animals: A shark and a cat. Some time ago I came with their final design thanks to a friend of mine who I commissioned. I couldn't do them justice but is also the first time I try to draw them, so it will be a question of time.
As you already know, Fuudomon is my most recent Rookie Digifake, who I created with the idea to give Duftmon his own digievolution line. I just can't pick only one of them as my partnermon, so I'm keeping both of them.
And the crest of Kindness? Because is the one a friend assigned to me after asking him. And because I like it. Besides, is the same crest that another Digifake who's really close to Felisharkmon and Fuudomon, and will reveal in the future. In a long, long future because I need to improve my skills before attempting to draw them.
Anyway, thank you, Digimon, for these 20 years of adventures, imagination and friendship! And all the marvellous people I met in the way.
Please don't use or repost.

Well....that was one way to start a new decade, i guess. > >’
Ok, from the death and destruction to the quarantine caused by viral disease to large parts of the world literally going up in flames, this year was like an ominous beginning that revealed the true ugly colors of everyone around us.
But there’s something telling me that that was just the universe releasing all of it’s built up rage from the last decade, so to think on the bright side, the only way to go is up now, right?
Regardless, pushing all the crap that happened this year aside, this feels like one of my best years yet in terms of art. i don’t think there’s any wedge of this clock that i wasn’t completely satisfied with and i had a TON of tough decisions on what to put in said wedges cuz i just luved almost everything i’ve created this year.
If you’re up to it, i’ll have my usual month to month reflection under the cutoff, but if you’re not, i hope to keep giving y’all even better art next year! ^ ^
So without further ado, let’s review!
January: ~ Days ~
Runner up: Team Solar Rises Again! (drawing in celebration of PMD finally returning with a remake of the first game)
Kicking off right where 2019 left off, i was hot on the heels of my Beastars phase, still cranking out countless drawings and doodles, mostly featuring Legoshi, and even hanging around the Beastars Amino and making some new friends there. this piece in particular i think encapsulates what i was mostly doing at the time, making up stories and stuff within canon to give myself more wolf boi content. which is something that i rarely do normally since i’ve mostly just done OC related writing before this.
February: - Sk8ter Wolf -
Runner up: Re:Hukaro (That thing i drew for Moon)
Ahh yes, the day i peaked with punk rock energy and created something in a highschool notebook sketch style. ngl, with the release of Beastars’ english dub on the way and the fandom quickly growing, i felt like i was on fire with the amount of stuff i was drawing. i felt so inspired and things can’t possibly go bad.
Or can it?
March: We Can Be Heroes
Runner up: One More Day, Emo Bird Boi Sketchies
Ahh yes, the month the worldwide quarantine started because they discovered the virus around this time. from this point onward, time pretty much meant absolutely nothing since i was stuck indoors for a majority of the year, only going out if i had to. on top of that, i tried a little attempt at a fandub and got picked on immediately by yahoos on Youtube. it...wasn’t fun.
I tried doing a little challenge i made up called Animarch where i drew a drawing representing anime i liked every day, but i only got about 5 days in i think? ehh, whatever. i did try, so that means something. lol
April: - ANOTHER SIDE -
Runner up: BEAST CROSSING ~Legoshi & Raymond
This was pretty much the final month i drew anything Beastars related as i slowly started shifting back to Pokemon due to the wait for season 2. but not before getting the new Animal Crossing and drawing a thing with Raymond and Legoshi that would blow up with hundreds of notes and interactions across every platform i posted it on. lmao
Regardless, i feel like Another Side was a perfect way to end that phase of my art journey. it’s like a nice finale to a long string of ideas that i will totally return to once season 2 drops next year.
May: - KOUJI -
Runner up: Fashion (that sketch of Alex and Jet in casual clothing)
What happened this month again? oh right, i went back to Digimon for a hot minute cuz i continued playing the copy of Cyber Sleuth Complete that i won from a giveaway on Twitter and created Alex and Jet, my latest Tamer and her Hawkmon partner. i should really do some more stuff with them.
ANYWAY,
June: - DOUBLE TROUBLE -
Runner up: “No Time to Waste! HENSHIN!” (AF attack against IonicIsaac on Twitter), Cafe Mix ~Ace, Yagami, Lance and Seliph
Art Fight. third year. and this time i kicked things up a notch and beat my old record from last year!...after uhh....cramming in 8 attacks at the very last night and totally going insane from the amount of sleep i lost. ^ ^’
But trust me when i say i will NOT do that again next year, i swear.
July: Squad Up
Runner up: Comin’ Out to Stun (Jet the Hawk sketches)
So after playing and beating PMDX, i started fleshing out Lance and Selpih’s characters and made more art and stories surrounding them and the rest of the team. one of those being a drawing for Mystery Dungeon Day, which happens the day after Odaiba Day. which is in August. why did i put this down for July then? some questions just don’t need to be answered.
August: - TOGETHER -
Runner up: In the Storm
You can tell by now just how uneventful life was this year cuz i have literally nothing else to talk about other than the art parts. no life issues, no big adventures like moving or something. just....indoor stuff.
It’s...kinda sad, now that i think about it. but hey, at least i was making the most of my time, trying new things and getting around a bit more.
September: Small World
Runner up: Rescue Together, PMD Forever!, Midnight Adventuring, Down Time
So this year, i turned 21, which a lotta people say is important. not really, if you can’t do much i guess. though, i did crank out a ton of art i’m super satisfied with as you can see by how hard it was to frickin’ pick one to use for this month’s wedge on the clock.
October: Feathers of the Shadows
Runner up: PAPERMOON - Final Mix - (not picked because it’s a touch up of an older drawing)
Hoo boi, this month was crazy. cuz i drew a whole lotta e d g e .....and a whole lotta Murkrow. lol
It was fun letting my inner edgelord out this month. even if nothing really significant happened in reality.
November: ~ One More Game ~
Runner up: UPokerap Project: Frogadier, - LEAF STORM -
This month....was actually kinda rough. it was basically me falling into a depressive episode after a scare at the dentist made me worry about my self image and insecurities again. but this time it really hit me just how much permanent damage i’ve done to myself in that aspect of my appearance. i know i shouldn’t worry so much, but it’s not great when people tell you to smile when the most i can do is grin since i’m just so....unhappy with my teeth.
But then around the end of the month, i stumbled upon a Pokemon themed Discord server with people that made me feel....not as alone as i suddenly felt i was. which i’m glad i could meet them even after only knowing them for a month now. if they’re reading this, i hope you know i’m thankful for raising my spirits when there’s still things i just can’t do due to financial issues.
December: Colors of the Heart + Happy Holidays! ~Grovyle ver.
Runner up: ~ After the Battle ~ (the two part KHII anniversary drawing), - XIII -, Sketchmon: Buizel
And now this month. on top of my insecurities, i’ve now been struggling with my frustration with not being noticed as much as i should, watching as some people quickly climb up in following when i’m going much slower. honestly, i feel like the months when everything started lightening up for the world....was when things started falling apart for me. yeah, i know. pretty depressing way to end, huh? i hit 300 before the year ended thanks to the support from my new friends though, so i’m actually pretty happy.
But that doesn’t mean i’m not still scared of the future. i mean i have my teeth to worry about and also my wisdom teeth are coming in. so next few months...might be kinda rough.
Though, that’s not to say i didn’t soldier through it. this month i pushed myself, plowed through as many commissions as i could get to raise money for my new computer and made some of the best drawings that to me, feel like a great accomplishment. even if a couple of them weren’t as grandiose as some of my previous work. it was a big step forward for me as an artist. at least in my eyes.
And i have a feeling....that it can only get better from here.
